Modern AU Chesward Headcanons

Cheslock and Edward both attend Weston, a prestigious private boys' school.

Edward's family paid for him to attend, while Cheslock got in on a scholarship.

Edward is put off by Cheslock's punk looks and carefree attitude, and doesn't really get why or how Cheslock is there.

Cheslock hates Edward's uptight, holier than thou attitude and goes out of his way to be a chaotic little shit towards Edward.

Edward is a teacher's assistant. One day when delivering something to the music room he walks in on Cheslock playing violin. He's shocked by how good Cheslock is, and suddenly realizes that he deserves to be at Weston just as much as (and maybe even more than) everyone else. After that he starts treating Cheslock more as his equal.

Cheslock welcomes the change of heart, although he still likes annoying Edward it's more playful that malicious and Edward is more receptive to it.

With the superiority complex out of the way, they quickly become unlikely friends.

Cheslock is very open about his sexuality. Edward is a bit put off by it due to his internalized homophobia, which causes tension between them. Cheslock feels that Edward is unaccepting, and Edward is scared to come to terms with his sexuality.

It takes a while for Edward to admit that the reason he's uncomfortable with Cheslock being open about his sexuality is because he feels he himself can't be.

Cheslock wouldn't ever compromise on his individuality. Instead, he offers to help Edward become more comfortable with himself.

Cheslock takes Edward to his first pride event. Edward is tense and nervous, but Cheslock's joy starts rubbing off on him and he enjoys himself. They stay out well after curfew and have to run back to the dorms and sneak in so they don't get in trouble. (More details in another post coming soon)

They get together just over a year later. Edward still deals with internalized homophobia, but Cheslock is there for him to help him through it, as both his friend and his partner.

Modern AU Chesward Pride

Cheslock takes Edward to his first pride event when they're still in school. Cheslock had been out and proud for years, and Edward had only recently started coming out and is still for the most part closeted.

Cheslock wears a rainbow crop top, black short shorts, and rainbow thigh high socks. He has bracelets on his arms of practically every pride flag known, and gives them away to younger attendees.

Edward wears a tank top with the gay flag on it and rainbow board shorts. Both he and Cheslock colored their hair rainbow with hair chalk as well.

The first thing Cheslock does when they get to the event is buy Edward his first pride flag. Edward nearly cries, and instead of carrying it Cheslock ties it around Edward's shoulders like a cape. Edward wears it for the rest of the event.

They spend hours walking around the venue, dancing to music, and enjoying the atmosphere. It's the first time Edward genuinely feels like he can accept himself.

They end up staying our way past curfew, and have to sneak back into their dorms to avoid getting in trouble. Cheslock stays the night in Edward's room, and they spend the rest of the night talking excitedly about the day.

Edward keeps his pride flag under his bed. Cheslock promises that once Edward is comfortable displaying it, he'll help him hang it up.
