Christian Musicians

Christian musicians are a collection of talented, passionate artists who work and create within the Christian music industry. The industry is made up of many different genres and subgenres, with artists performing in an effort to explain their faith and relationship to God through the musical art form. These musicians could be comfortably placed across a broad spectrum of genres, such as Contemporary Christian Rock, alongside artists such as Relient K and Plumb, as well as lesser-known genres like Christian Punk, Christian Metal and Christian Hip-Hop. No matter what sort of music you enjoy, there is guaranteed to be a Christian musician making music you want to hear.

Some artists solely define themselves as Christian musicians and achieve success through the Christian music industry. This pathway was used by highly successful Christian musicians such as MercyMe, Casting Crowns, Jeremy Camp, Third Day, Matthew West, tobyMac, Chris Tomlin, Brandon Heath, Aaron Shust and Lauren Daigle.

Some artists, however, do not define themselves as Christian musicians but still incorporate Christian themes into their music. Some artists who have done this successfully and enjoyed huge success include The Byrds, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Elvis Presley, Creed, Life house and U2. These artists, despite not being Christian musicians in the normal sense of the word, have assisted in bringing Christian music into the mainstream and helped Christian musicians achieve their dreams.Christian RNB Musicians are also so popular.

Other Christian musicians represent the genre of Christian music but don’t solely confine themselves to that singular genre, despite it containing many broad subgenres. Christian musicians that fall into that category include Jars of Clay, dc Talk, Steven Curtis Chapman and Newsboys. Even though they have branched out into other forms of music, these Christian musicians have still made significant contributions to the genre and left a lasting legacy within the Christian musician community.

Well supported and established churches have had a large influence on contemporary Christian music and are one of the largest producers of the genre, helping to inspire and create countless Christian musicians. Hillsong Church is one of the many prominent Christian musician homes that develop, foster and promote Christian musicians throughout the stages of their career, paving the way for generations of Christian musicians to come.

In recent years, contemporary worship music has also developed by blending hymns and worship songs with contemporary rhythms and instrumentation. This evolution has allowed new genres of Christian music to emerge, with music written by Christian musicians now incorporated as part of a Church’s usual service.

Christian musicians that develop, write and perform songs within this space include well-known groups such as Shane & Shane and Hillsong United. Modern hymn-writers Keith & Kristyn Getty and others like Sovereign Grace Music,Matt Boswell and Aaron Keyes are also helping to lift the profile. The format of this genre is gaining traction in many churches and is a powerful reminder of the important position music holds in Christian worship.

Christian music, however, would be nothing without the Christian musicians who produce it, all of whom are extremely talented, hardworking and generous in sharing their relationship with faith and God with the world.
