I got to see Cirque du Soleil’s Koozå and was immediately infected with brain worms because the Trickster is just SO cool. I’ve thought about nothing but them for like an entire week

#I cannot express how insane I feel thinking about them and their dancing #the actor Joey Vice is ridiculously talented and the definitive Trickster in my mind #also so many elements of the Trickster’s costumes appeal to me directly #this is just one of three outfits they wear and they’re all amazing #they should look silly bc they’re so cartoonish but instead they’re appealingly bizarre and irresistibly cool #also the rest of the acts were amazing too LOL #I was just so mesmerized by the Trickster that I had to actively remind myself to watch the actual show #Cirque du Soleil #Kooza #Cirque du Soleil Trickster #Trickster #my art

Dell'arte the Sergal

Just finished up this awesome guy! And yes, those of you following both this and my main account may have noticed a few reblogs this evening about Cirque Du Soleil and may even recognise one character in particular whom looks an awful lot like Dell'arte here.

I may or may not have taken very heavy inspiration from the character The Trickster from Cirque Du Soleil's 2007 show Koozå to make Dell'arte lol. So much so, he may be bordering on the level of complexity that makes me think "nope, cannot be bothered to draw that." I hope I'm wrong and I can keep drawing them because I'm really proud of his design.

And their name is a direct reference to Commedia Dell'arte, a 16th century European (originally Itallian) performance in which some famous clowns - Pierrot and Harlequin - as well as the traditional puppet show Punch and Judy find their origins.

i just remembered Cirque du Soleil is a thing, i used to watch videos of their shows when i was a kid and i kind wish i didn't stop and forget about it cause their shows are amazing.

ngl- i think Kokichi would love their shows. like their shows are absolute fever dream circus performances that tell a very vague and equally fever dreamy story, he's dig the shit out of that.

i think he'd like Koozå cause of how silly the characters in it are and how light hearted and fun the story is. alot of their shows have more serious stories like broken family becoming whole again, saving someone's life, exploring the good and bad of different walks of life- but Koozå is literally a sad kid(?) getting lead through a chaotic land by a trickster to cheer him up
