It is crazy to me how the Star Control II tag has more followers than the Civilization IV tag. Consider that CivIV is part of a long series of games with the latest having a significantly larger fanbase and development team than Star Control II.
Either way, both games are outstanding and both tags deserve more followers.

Stream tonight at 7 EDT!
Tumblr media
Tonight at 7pm EDT, I will be streaming Civilization IV!
In a similar vein to my Pharaoh and Majesty streams, I’m going back to play an older entry in this popular series, one that released 17 years ago in 2005.
Most people are probably familiar with Civ V or Civ VI, if not both, and while IV is instantly recognizable as coming from the same series of games, it is in many ways a very different game, arguably having more in common mechanically with the first three games than it does with Civ VI.
The map is divided into squares instead of hexagons, and units can stack infinitely onto a single tile. Combat between units is typically to the death. Science is not a separate yield, but instead the player must choose to dedicate some percentage of their gold income to research.
On the other hand, Civ IV did introduce a few features that previous games lacked. While cultural borders were introduced in the previous entry, Civ IV marks the first time that open borders treaties must be signed in order to send units through another civ’s territory without starting a war. Great People were also introduced in Civ IV, as well as religion, though religious gameplay is significantly more simplistic than it would be in later entries. And of course, Civ IV is a huge graphical upgrade from the previous entry, switching from an isometric view with sprites to a full 3D engine.
Looking forward to the stream!

Why Japan Is the Perfect Civilization to Start Playing Sid Meier’s Civilization VI
Are you a strategy game enthusiast and passionate about history? If so, you are probably already familiar with Civilization VI, one of the most popular and captivating games in its genre. If you are looking for the ideal civilization to start your adventure in this fascinating game, let me tell you why Japan is the perfect choice. Get ready to immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of this civilization as you conquer the virtual world.
One of the main reasons why Japan stands out in Civilization VI is its historical legacy and its influence on the world. By selecting Japan, you will have the opportunity to lead one of the most influential and fascinating civilizations of all time. From the ancient samurai to modern technological advances, Japan has left an indelible mark on history, and this is reflected in the game.
In addition, Japan has unique features in Civilization VI that allow you to take full advantage of its historical strengths. One of the Japan-exclusive skills is called “Meiji Restoration”. This ability allows you to build additional districts in your cities and increase production when “Campus” districts are nearby. This gives you a significant advantage in scientific and technological development, allowing you to stay ahead of the game.
Another great advantage of choosing Japan is their unique unit, the “Samurai”. These legendary warriors have exceptional ability to fight in Japanese lands and can even perform additional attacks when alongside other Samurai units. Imagine the power and effectiveness of an army made up of these formidable warriors.
In addition to its unique abilities, Japan also possesses an exclusive wonder called “Todai-ji Temple”. This wonder provides cultural and religious benefits, allowing you to expand your influence and gain a diplomatic advantage over other civilizations.
However, Japan’s appeal is not limited to its in-game features alone. It is also a fascinating country from a cultural point of view. If you are passionate about Japanese history, aesthetics, and philosophy, playing as Japan will immerse you in a world full of unique traditions and customs. From cherry blossoms to temples to festivals, Civilization VI will allow you to explore and experience the rich culture of Japan in a fun and educational way.

Playing the Different Generations of Civilization Today
Having written a bit about Sid Meier’s Civilization and its various versions over the last 30 years earlier this week, I was kind of interested to have some sort of brief reminder/comparison of the different generations. A couple of weeks ago I was all up about the idea that you could play every generation of the Diablo series, would Civilization follow suit? So I started going down the list… not…

Baldwin IV, the... Gamer King?
Something I've found interesting - and rather surprising, tbh - is the increasing number of games and game concepts in which Baldwin IV features, and not simply as inspiration for the characters' designs, but as himself.
Here's how many places I've found him and the accompanying artwork of him (all very obviously inspired by - you guessed it - Kingdom of Heaven)
==================
First, the actual games...
1) Evony: The King's Return
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This article from One Chilled Gamer gives the details on his statistics.
2) Blood of Steel
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can find the details in this news announcement on the game's Steam hub.
3) European War 7: Medieval
Tumblr media
It's a little harder to find information on this one, but there's a discussion thread here on him.
==================
Baldwin also makes an appearance in the mods for several games, including...
Sid Meier's Civilization V
Tumblr media
This mod adds the Kingdom of Jerusalem as a civilization to the game, with Baldwin IV as its leader. There's info on him on this wiki page, including his war and peace themes ("The Holy Land" and "Siege of Kerak" from Crusader Kings 2, respectively.)
Sid Meier's Civilization VI
Tumblr media
This mod also adds the Kingdom of Jerusalem into the next game of the series, again with Baldwin IV as its leader.
Crusader Kings III
Tumblr media
This mod overhauls CK3 to allow the player to assume the role of any leader present in Kingdom of Heaven (as well as their contemporaries around Europe and Asia), including Baldwin IV - although you won't get to play as him for very long before his death.
==================
Finally, I've found some concept-style art of Baldwin floating around out there, too, although I'm not certain they are for an actual game or simply intended for a potential game if they happen to grab a developer's interest.
This one is by ShawnFox on Artstation:
Tumblr media
And this one is by XuanHan Chen, also on Artstation:
Tumblr media
==================
This is all I've personally been able to find so far, but there's probably more out there I've missed. If anyone has run across any other game-related art of Baldwin IV, please share!

the selective amnesia of marvel writers when it comes to major comic events makes me so insane. not only has tony been on a team with miles (all-new, all-different avengers, 2015), and has been a mentor figure to him since he crossed over from the ultimates universe (ultimate end, 2015), they somehow conveniently forgot that tony stark died in civil war II to protect miles. MILES. the kid he’s calling “newbie” and is somehow not one of his top favorite spider-people.
Tumblr media
why is tony treating miles like they’ve never met when he went to war against carol and was punched into a coma to protect miles from being arrested for a crime he didn’t commit???? like mama let’s research before we start writing these comics
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyway yeah miles is one of tony stark’s favourite spider-people in the multiverse HE WAS WILLING TO DIE TO PROTECT HIM

reverse verse where soap takes on the mask instead of ghost. he wears his red skull mask so you can see the lower half of his face and his chin scar extends along his whole jaw to look like exposed teeth
