GOOD/AFFORDABLE SKIN CARE ROUTINE!

Hello Everyone!

Blog Post #3! Woohoo, still no one reading but we’re just going to keep trucking along here. As we have entered this quarantined time period, I'm sure most of you learned fast how important it is to take care of yourself and the effect it has on your mental health as a person. It’s easy to lose track of a routine when we have no where to be but, ladies and gentlemen, self care is important! So get up and brush your teeth and take care of your skin!!

Well anyway’s, since I really enjoy my skin care routine, I thought I would make a post about it. First of all, I have pretty oily skin but also dry skin, so I guess that would mean combination skin...? Either way, I found that moisturizing your skin is KEY no matter what. Grab my hand and let me guide you through my skin care routine........

MORNING

Exfoliate everyday with the Aveeno Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Daily Scrub

Tone with Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel and cotton pad

Apply serum (I like to switch between Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamin C)

Apply Bliss Ex-glow Sion Eye Cream

Liberally apply Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 50 (I know it’s annoying when people say sunscreen is important but it really is)

NIGHT

Double cleanse with Burt’s Bees Cleansing Oil if wearing makeup (only one time if not wearing makeup)

Clean and Clear Spot Treatment (If needed)

Apply Burt’s Bees Complete Nourishment Facial Oil

Apply Bliss Ex-glow Sion Eye Cream

Moisturize with CervaVe Moisturizing Cream

And thats pretty much it. Now I know what you’re thinking, seems too simply, but don’t worry this is my tried and true skin care method. Please also take into account that I’m a poor college student and not a skin care expert whatsoever! HA!

Facial oil 💧 usage and mixing 🥣 I drop 3 to 4 drops of oil into my palm ✋ and tap 🤲 it over the face without rubbing. The oil goes just before the moisturizer 🧴. We had a nice chat with @fandgreview about using facial oils in a 🔙 previous post. She mentioned about another way. Just drop a few drops of oil into the moisturizer🧴, mix together and then use it. I make my own mixture 🥣 It's quite simple and we can benefit from more than one oil 💧. The recipe 👨‍🍳: 1️⃣ 2 parts of carrier oil (jojoba in my case) 2️⃣ 1 part of "special" oil (rosehip oil) 3️⃣ if you wish, you can add a few drops of essential oil (lavender oil) ℹ️ "Special" #oils are more expensive or have more properties. It's up to you which oil you choose. ℹ️ The amount of essential oil depends on how much oil you mix, but be careful with essential oil and use less than more. I have combo skin and look for drier oils. These oils have higher linoleic acid content. My favorites are jojoba oil, rosehip oil and grapeseed oil. ℹ️ If you are interested about specific facial oil just google the "fatty acid profile" for this oil. If the percentage of linoleic acid is higher than oleic acid, then it's a dry oil and easily absorbed into the skin. Double cleansing! The esthetician’s staple. A crucial step for deep cleansing. Although it is not needed twice a day (however, it can help A LOT) i would highly recommend this step at night before you go to bed. The first cleanse takes off that top layer of grime. When washed off with warm water you open up your pores and remove surface dirt and makeup, as well as loosen the sebum (your “skin oil”) that is clogging your pores, keeping them closed. Once that layer is removed, the second cleanse goes in deep and actually does what you’re intending it to do … clean your pores. When you rinse off your second cleanse with cool/cold water you shrink your pores back to size and seal the deal. This is step vital to a healthy skin routine and removal of dirt and makeup. Stress breakouts are not my favorite... @mamonde_us gifted me their Micro Deep Cleansing Foam which is infused with nature’s Konjac but isn't harsh at all. I have combo to dry skin so that's at the top of my list- I tend to use it a bit as a rinse off mask.
