Artemisia has fond memories of their childhood. Even though they aren’t the heir, Artemisia was treated as an equal to Evander. The two learned the family business and were prepared for handling whatever was thrown their way gods forbid something happened to their parents. An idealistic childhood and teens would come crashing down the day Lord Voldemort decided an example needed to be made out of the Selwyn family. 

Months spent trying to convince the parents to get one of their children to join the ranks with no success were interrupted by Fenrir Greyback making an appearance. The most Artemisia can remember from the fateful day is their parents screaming their heads off and a searing pain in their neck from being bitten. The family was able to save Artemisia but couldn’t stop the monster that took over their child, leaving the eldest Selwyn with lycanthropy from dragging their feet to make a decision.

The warning was clear as day. Comply or face the consequences, and the Selwyn family faced the consequences with a promise of the Dark Lord doing worse to their heir if they continued to drag their feet. Gone were days of freedom for Artemisia to do as they pleased. The people that were once considered friends had pulled away, and the betrothal to Vincent Crabbe was called off. Artemisia tried to seem unaffected but being treated as lesser than others due to being a werewolf has done a number on them. Try as they may, there are only so many forced smiles to hide behind before the world properly comes crashing down around them.

Alecto Macnair - Everything seems to be going well for Alecto and Artemisia gets sad thinking about it. Alecto has their whole life ahead of them while Artemisia’s life got put on hold, dealing with the repercussions of the Selwyns having dragged their feet in picking a side. Artemisia can’t help but wonder how things would have differed if they had taken a similar approach in life to the one that Alecto uses.

Evander Selwyn - Artemisia’s rock. The two have been inseparable since Evander’s birth. Close as can be, Evander has been the only understanding relative in Artemisia’s life. Artemisia appreciates having someone to rely on instead of being met with disgust.

Vincent Crabbe - Betrothed to since toddlerhood, the couple was set to marry five summers after Vincent graduated from Hogwarts. It was believed that would be enough time to get Vincent’s feet wet at the Ministry before turning around to focus on starting a family. There was a mutual acceptance of their fate, and they got along well enough to hope they wouldn’t be miserable. The Crabbes have all but written the werewolf off at this point, and Artemisia can’t help but miss the inkling of friendship that flourished from Vincent having initially shared a similar fate to their own.

Hair: Black as night, though she often adds colorful highlights to it. She will dye her hair for jobs she needs to disguise herself for.

Build: Unlike many of the adventurers and otherwise hard-working individuals that she associates herself with, Malika is certainly not a muscular goddess carved from stone and steel. In fact, while she is extremely dexterous, she’s a bit softer than her allies. Combat is not her strong suit; She prefers to talk, sneak, or run her way out of conflict. While she stays fit, her body betrays that fighting and hunting are not her pastimes of choice.

Profession: Malika would say that she doesn’t have one. She does street performances as a musician and acrobat and engages in high risk wagers at the Gold Saucer. Realistically, Malika… doesn’t have one. She is a thief (pickpocket and infiltration) and con-artist.

Gambler: Malika believes in Fate, but she also believes that she can gain favor with Nymeia by “keeping her spinning.” She thinks of gambling, dares, taking risks, and the like as a means to court luck and favor with Nymeia by keeping the goddess from getting too bored. It keeps Malika from being bored too! She will accept almost any offer of a good gamble or game of chance. Want to gamble? Let's gamble together!

Con-artist: If you want to interact with Mal, look like an easy mark. From fake fortunes and prophecies, to crafting situations where she can just pickpocket something off your character, Malika is a troublemaker. If she introduces herself by any other name that her actual one, she's scheming. **OOC note: I have her do this so that RP is fun; Malika wants to take advantage of the kindness of strangers, but I don't. This is also the OOC reason why she replaces stolen items with different items. You can tell me if you don't want to deal with this (in fact, please do!)

Never met a bridge she didn't want to burn:  Malika is an unreliable, chaotic, impulsive mess of a Miqo'te. She has stolen from a lot of people. She has conned a lot of people. She has left destruction in her wake. She is also not particularly cautious. If you want to RP someone she stole from, whose place she broke into, or anything like that, I'd be happy to!

Ask for help: She doesn’t really want to get involved in other people’s business. She’ll ignore a problem if she can. But if you ask her for help she will usually begrudgingly be that help. She will definitely help you if you need to escape from authority. She thinks her inability to say ‘no’ to someone in need is a weakness; it might actually be her one redeeming quality.

Talk to her at all: Malika is the cliche curious cat. She finds people fascinating. She enthusiastically throws herself into learning about others and is happy to chat up exactly, oh, let me check my notes… that’s right… everybody.

I love doing crime RP, but Malika isn't especially violent and does not particularly want to be involved in violent crimes (Read as: She's so very self-interested that she is especially interested in her self not being injured). If she accidentally gets in over her head, that's fun! But, primarily, she prefers mischievous, petty crime and she's not going to willingly get involved in violent/torture crime stuff. We don't need to have intricate plots for me to have fun. We can just sit around on top of roofs or inside of restaurants having our characters just chat too. I find that just as fun. yoo this is like the first time I’m using Tumblr on mobile and I had written the whole answer but it got deleted cus I’m literally in the middle of no where and the connection keeps jumping😭 (also I can’t find the colour yellow someone help me)

Martin would watch Oppenheimer, but probably also watch Barbie if MC forced convinced him to. He’d be frowning and sighing the whole time but he'd actually love it.

Demetra would also watch Oppenheimer and like Martin, she’d watch Barbie only if MC literally begged her to. She would probably not ever try to watch it and she’d just stare at MC the whole time only to glance at the screen a few times to look at hot actors or to think about how similar Emma Mackey and Margot Robbie are

Evander would watch Barbie and not even know what Oppenheimer is. To answer this question, he’d to watch the trailer and be like “Yeah I’m not watching that.”

Harley would watch and appreciate both movies, mainly because she loves going to the cinema and basically watching everything that’s available. She’d probably like Barbie a tad more, but only cause she’d watch it with her brother

Echo would watch Oppenheimer mainly cause she loves Christopher Nolan. ( i can’t find the colour yellow for her, help)

Evander’s Modes of Locomotion and Adaptive Devices:

Evander is a bilateral above knee amputee and as such uses a variety of means to get around.  Some of these are more situation-specific than others, but with high core strength and having lived with this injury for several decades, Evander knows how he likes to get about.  He has had various custom means constructed – but does not care for the use of magic when it comes to something that connects directly to his body (using it to power a chair? Good and useful.  Using it to connect a stump to his nervous system?  Bad – where are the fail-safes?  If he can’t have it serviced what will he do if it breaks?  What happens if it malfunctions?  It’s a matter of personal opinions on autonomy and the nature of magic.)

Crab Chair – Functionally a version of a power chair, and usually something he will use when he either a) needs to make a statement b) is having a bad pain day but needs to be a presence regardless c) needs to go all-terrain.

Pros: Versatile, fast, requires little physical exertion

Cons: Bulky, non-subtle

“Sport” Wheelchair – Fast, light, functional, and maneuverable, this is Evanders go-to chair whenever he wants to get about but isn’t going to make it complicated.  Most commonly used on his estate which has generally been modeled such that it can go everywhere.  He decorates it in various ways for his usual aesthetics (here, shown plain.)  Note that it does not have handles for a secondary operator.  It has a low back and no arms to make it more compact.

Pros: Manuverable, flexible, fast, and easy to get around in

Cons: Not the most comfortable if he’s not feeling well, not the most easily transportable in Vesuvia’s canal system or when traveling by carriage

Ergonomic Wheelchair – With a comfortable high back, arm rests, and plenty of padding, this is how Evander gets about when not feeling great (seen here at home during a pain flare but determined to be outside.)  Note that the chair still does not have handles on it, as he is still using it fully autonomously.

Pros: Comfortable, takes his weight easily, can use for a long period without discomfort

Cons: Less maneuverable, slightly slower, again not easily transportable

Prosthetic Legs – Evander can move on just prosthetics, including up and down stairs, and without support, however it does stiffen his gait, and getting from seated to standing does require some support.  However, it can be hard on the nerve damage in his legs, and it requires quite a lot of energy to keep up.  He will generally use this when he doesn't need to move around a lot, and is feeling pretty much at the top of his game.  These are well-machined and designed, with flexible and locking knees and ankles.

Pros: Unencumbered maneuverability, access to most areas, height

Cons: Uncomfortable, takes a lot of energy, not particularly outstanding looking (I mean, it’s Evander)

Prosthetic Legs with Cane – His most common means of moving about on prosthetics – this added support means he can get about more easily, has support from sitting to standing, and can have somewhat more dramatic prosthetics without impeding his maneuverability.

Pros: Maneuverability, access, height, and added weapon

Cons: Can still be taxing, and not always easy on Vesuvia’s cobbled/uneven streets

Prosthetic Legs with Crutches – Adding more support for his legs, he is able to take on more fanciful prosthetic design, as he is now mostly using his upper body strength to get about.  He can generally maintain this for longer than other prosthetic leg configurations.

Pros: Decorative Prosthetics, well balanced, never needs to find something to lean on

Cons: Less maneuverable, not as quick as some other means

Stump Walking – Evander can move on just the stumps of his legs quite well with or without use of his hands, and takes full advantage of his build and athleticism while doing so.  This is usually how he gets about in the morning or while relaxing until he’s put together.  He has some outfits designed with padding/grippage on the stumps so he can get about streets and other terrain.  He will occasionally use it to good effect during primal play as he’s also terrifyingly fast on all fours.

Pros: Requires nothing additional, fast, maneuverable

Cons: Makes him ‘short’, not good where terrain might be painful, hard during a pain flare to maintain for long

Mermaid Tail – While more fanciful, this could still perhaps be considered a prosthetic of a sort – allowing him aesthetics underwater.  Because of his amputation, it is somewhat easier for him to don this sort of costume without it weighing him down, but the practical effect of it is minimal – he mostly swims with his arms and hips.

Pros: Pretty

Cons: Not really doing anything

Prompt #19: “Turn a Blind Eye” - FFXIV Write 2022

The pen was missing. Misplacing things wasn't an uncommon occurrence for Evander; even with his various and redundant methods of keeping things organized, he'd often put something somewhere safe, only to lose it for days at a time. But the pen wasn't misplaced. It was missing.

If you asked him if it was his favorite pen, he would have told you no. He would have said that he didn't have a favorite pen. He hadn't really ever weighed the pros and cons of the various pens, pencils and other writing utensils that littered his desk, but if he really thought about it, this was the one he gravitated to. Ink flowed smoothly from it, leaving lines that were never too thick or too thin, but if you let the tip linger—as Evander often did at the end of long sentence, or at spots in a diagram or blueprint that might seem random to an observer, but made a certain kind of stylistic sense to him, even if he couldn't quantify it with words if he tried—it would pool in small spots that just somehow brought everything together. It was his go-to for just about everything if he was at his desk: he used it for drafts, blueprints, technical sketches; he used it for personal letters; he even used it for the rare legal documents he had to sign.

So, yeah, it probably was his favorite pen.

That's how he knew it was missing and not misplaced.

This had become kind of a commonplace part of his existence the last few years. Things of his seemed to just... disappear. Not always, of course. There were plenty of things that stayed right where they should: really common place stuff that seemed impersonal or fully utilitarian, like silverware; stuff that seemed vital to his continued existence in some way, like tools or weapons; stuff that obviously required a lot of upkeep to keep working, like the various clockworks he busied himself with. But things that he used regularly? The kinds of things that he could replace, but had become enough a part of his routine that they felt like him? Things like a mug, or a flask, or (apparently) a pen? Those went missing, and they didn't turn up even when he did a top-to-bottom tear down of his living space.

They did sometimes turn up, but we'll get back to that.

It could be frustrating, for sure, but it was never quite infuriating, but we'll get back to that, too.

Sometimes, other things turned up in their place. Most of the time, they were small curios that he had never seen before. A letter opener might disappear, but he'd find a small wooden carving of a woodpecker in the cup where he used to keep it. He might lose a cup, but he'd later find tiny jug in its place. One flask would disappear, only to be replaced by another. If he left a ring on the counter for too long, he'd surely find a new set of cuff links where it used to be. One time, two matching throw pillows disappeared, only to be replaced with two stuffed sharks, albeit ones that clearly did not match.

Eventually, he started noticing things coming back, though. They were never where he left them; the patterns of wear no longer matched his hands, but instead those of someone smaller. They never showed up without something else disappearing. It was clear that these things never made their way back to him until they were no longer his anymore.

As he resigned himself to using what he only just now realized was his second favorite pen, Evander couldn't help but recall the first time Malika let him into her apartment. Like so much else about her, it felt intentionally effortless and consciously carefree. It was eclectic and it spoke to someone who felt like life didn't need to be hemmed in or tightly wound, like you didn't need to do yourself the disservice of limiting yourself to just the things that made sense. It felt patchwork, in a way, but not quite thrown together. Things were complementary, but nothing matched.

Nothing, of course, save for two very familiar throw pillows.

She had, of course, noticed him noticing, but neither of them mentioned it. He had never once mentioned it when she palmed a familiar flask, or when he noticed a familiar knife strapped to her boot.

Why would he? Having his favorite pen might be nice, but so was having a small wooden carving of a woodpecker.

Perro Viejo, Trucos Nuevos (Parte 1/2)

Tenía planeado publicar esto antes de que acabara el año pero j a j. Por una cosa u otra no tuve oportunidad de hacer eso hasta ahora.

Como sea, como ya he mencionado en múltiples ocasiones actualmente estudio una carrera que lleva asignaturas de animación. Este semestre tuve una materia llamada "Preproducción 2D", en él me enseñaron y me pidieron de proyecto final el desarrollar una Biblia de Animación.

Para quienes no sepan que es eso, es un documento donde presentas la idea de tu historia; en él muestras una sinopsis de lo que tratará, el tipo de público al que va dirigido la caricatura, referencias del estilo que se usará tanto en los fondos como en la animación, personajes principales, etc.

En mi caso quise hacer una biblia basada en una idea que tuve desde el 2021 al que titulé "Perro Viejo, Trucos Nuevos"; por este medio publicaré la sinopsis de mi historia, pero si quieren saber más de ésta misma pueden verla mejor distribuida en mi página de Facebook x)

Sinópsis: "La historia trata la vida de un perro y un gato llamados Evander y Edwin que crecen en un hogar disfuncional. Después de varios años de abuso logran independizarse y cada uno hace su vida a su manera sin volver a saber nada del otro. Décadas después vuelven a reunirse en el velorio de sus padres, y con ello nuestros protagonistas tienen algunos choques de ideas al reintroducirse y conocer el tipo de vida que han llevado los 2. Evander creció con mucho dolor y rencor en su corazón por los maltratos de su niñez, y a consecuencia de ello se había convertido en un sabueso bastante egocéntrico y violento; por el contrario, Edwin aprendió a ser amable y respetuoso con los demás independientemente de las circunstancias que vivió y los traumas que lo siguieron carcomiendo hasta su adultez. Ante esto Edwin intenta convencer al sabueso de cambiar su actitud por su propio bien, pero ¿Acaso a sus 50 años Evander logrará aprender trucos nuevos?"

This fight was a classic clash of styles from both men, with the short and stumpy body puncher in Dwight (Braxton) muhammad Qawi (right) and the tall well-rounded boxer-puncher in evander "real deal" holyfield (left).

The last great 15 round fight before they were banned due to the tragic passing of deuk koo Kim at the hands of Ray Mancini in the 14th round, this fight was action packed the whole way through with holyfield totalling over 1200 punches thrown in the fight!

Dwight muhammad Qawi, formerly Dwight Braxton was a rugged and hardened ex-convict who got done in for armed robbery in New jersey. In Rahway state prison he turned his life around and eventually found his way to heavyweight champion Joe Fraziers gym in Philadelphia.

Her primary drive is to do what Malika wants to do and get what Malika wants to get. This doesn't mean she doesn't have the capacity for generosity (she does!) or that she's a mercilessly evil villain (she's not!). She just thinks that what she wants in the moment is always more important than what someone else wants. And if putting on different personas (conning people) is what will get her what she wants, she rarely hesitates.

Most people Malika meets are strangers/temporary acquaintances. She does not have a wide circle of deep friendships; she has an ever expanding warzone of strangers she has completely fucked over. The only thing that has kept them from exacting revenge on her is that she has burned every bridge leading out.

For those who become more "long-term acquaintances" (this usually entails that they are thieves/criminals like her) she is charming, sarcastic, a bit flirtatious and absolutely never ever ever around in any capacity other than the one the relationship demands ("we're co-workers, not friends.")
