An FBI memo dated November 29, 1968 described a letter that the L.A FBI office intended to mail to the Black Panther Party office. The letter. was made to appear as if it had come from the Us Organization, describing fictitious plans by Us to ambush BPP. The FBI memo stated that "It is hoped this counterintelligence measure will result in an 'Us' and BPP vendetta." —At a Black Student Union meeting at UCLA's Campbell Hall on January 17, 1969, Bunchy and John, another BPP member, were heard making derogatory comments about Karenga, the founder of Organization Us. Other versions mention a heated argument between Organization Us members and Panther Elaine Brown. An altercation ensued during which Carter and Huggins were shot to death. BPP members originally insisted that the event was a planned assassination, claiming that there was a prior agreement that no guns would be brought to the meeting, that BPP members were not armed, and that Organization Us members were. Organization Us members maintained the meeting was a spontaneous event. Former BPP deputy minister of defense Geronimo Pratt, Carter’s head of security at the time, later stated that rather than a conspiracy, the UCLA incident was a spontaneous shootout. The person who allegedly shot Carter and Huggins, Claude Hubert, was never found. During the Church Committee hearings in 1975, evidence came to light that under the COINTELPRO actions, FBI agents had deliberately fanned flames of division and enmity between the BPP and Org US. Death threats and humiliating cartoons created by the FBI were sent to each group, made to look as if they originated with the other group, with the explicit intention of inciting deadly violence Following the UCLA incident, brothers George and Larry Stiner and Donald Hawkins turned themselves in to the police, who had issued warrants for their arrests. They were convicted for conspiracy to commit murder and two counts of second-degree murder, based on testimony given by BPP members. The Stiner brothers both received life sentences and Hawkins served time in California’s Youth Authority Detention.

@bellsliturgy : 🕯️Our muses put up holiday decorations (what if bri and v put up office decorations,,,,, do u think arasaka does a christmas party at the office.... do androids dream of electric sheep,,,,,v is also slipping laxatives into jenkins' eggnog) / Sharing the Holiday Season Prompts ᠂ ⚘ ˚
Despite the glean of 24-karat gold details lining the lobby walls and the neuro-therapeutic red lighting running along hallways and offices, Arasaka Tower is hardly festive for this time of year. Not that Brianne likes an excess of bits and bobs but for goodness sake, it’s pleasant to demarcate the year with some holiday accoutrements. Spending her own money, she bought a few shiny bobbles and the most realistic fake tree she could find to decorate her unit's lift lobby. Ironic she has an agent from CounterIntel helping her trim it. That’s why she likes V, not at all miffed to be seen lending a hand to a higher-up that's not his own. Quite bold actually.
Tumblr media
“Hm,” her thoughts hum as she passes a clear glass ornament over. “I haven’t heard if Abernathy is throwing a holiday shindig for your dept, but you are certainly welcome to mine.” Or as the Japanese call them, bōnenkai, end-of-the-year parties to drink, be merry, and forget the troubles of the past year. Still a few weeks out, but the venue is set and she's about done purchasing the raffle gifts.
“I booked a restaurant on the waterfront. Stellar food, and an open bar of course.” All depts are full of scheming coworkers who rather not spend more time together but hardly any would pass up hitting an open bar on company time. Arm stretches to string an ornament near the top of the tree. “And no, Jenkins is not invited." Reassurance comes as she cheekily peeks over at him. “Operational Oversight only and a few specially invited guests.”

Critical National Security Implications of Neuroanatomical Communication Technology: Urgent Need for Safeguards and Accountability
Tumblr media
According to covert leak reports, this technology has been used in the past, adding to the urgency of addressing the potential security implications of its development and use.
Neuroanatomical communication technology has the potential to revolutionize the field of national security and intelligence gathering. With the latest developments in brain-machine interfaces, private companies like Neuralink are making strides in developing technology that enables direct communication between humans and machines. While this presents exciting possibilities for technological and medical advancements, it also poses significant challenges for organizations concerned with national security.
One of the potential benefits of this technology is the ability to communicate covertly through neural signals, which could revolutionize intelligence gathering and covert operations. Operatives could communicate with each other without detection and transmit sensitive information securely. However, there are also important implications for national security that must be carefully considered. The potential for foreign governments to use this technology to gain access to nuclear bunkers, intelligence headquarters, and other important facilities is a significant concern.
In addition to national security concerns, there are also ethical considerations to be addressed. This technology could be used for religious manipulation, torture, and humiliation, as well as state-sponsored humiliation of important individuals such as former leaders of a country. The possibility of unintended consequences, such as the creation of unaware sleeping agents or citizens of their own countries, is also a concern.
It is important for organizations like the Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA) to work closely with government agencies and researchers to carefully weigh the potential risks and benefits of using neural communication technology in the field of national security. This includes prioritizing the safety and well-being of citizens and maintaining transparency and accountability throughout the research and development process.
Overall, while this technology has immense potential, it is crucial that it is developed and used responsibly. Careful consideration of the potential risks and benefits must be made to ensure that its development is guided by ethical principles and prioritizes the safety and security of citizens.
Based on historical evidence and funding sources, it is possible that the world's leading intelligence agency has had plans to use neuroanatomical communication technology for political assassinations of important leaders dating back to earlier times, according to reports.
It is crucial to consider the potential implications of telepathic communication technology, as one wrong official could use it to end or destroy lives.
Furthermore, the use of neural communication technology for state-sponsored humiliation of individuals who are perceived to have humiliated a state or government raises serious concerns and highlights the need for strong regulations and safeguards to prevent misuse of this technology.
Summary
Neuroanatomical communication technology has the potential to revolutionize national security and intelligence gathering, but its development also poses significant challenges to organizations concerned with national security. The ability to communicate covertly through neural signals could revolutionize intelligence gathering and covert operations, but there are important implications for national security that must be considered. Ethical considerations must also be addressed, including the potential for misuse for religious manipulation, torture, and humiliation. It is crucial that organizations work closely with government agencies and researchers to weigh the potential risks and benefits of using neural communication technology and prioritize the safety and well-being of citizens. Reports suggest that the world's leading intelligence agency has had plans to use this technology for political assassinations, raising serious concerns about the potential misuse of the technology. There is a need for strong regulations and safeguards to prevent misuse, particularly for state-sponsored humiliation of individuals.

Deep dive to Spam bots on Tumblr (Spoiler: FSB mentioned)
(TL;DR: Russian business man is heavily investing into companies behind the bots, mentions of FSB, Shell companies in tax-evasion and weak business law countries, Huge industry and money laundering)
I got annoyed about the bots on tumblr, so I decided to do some investigation into who is behind them and funding the operation, here is my findings:
Tumblr media
The graph shows how a network of “affiliate marketing” companies for “dating” services is connected and some of the key players behind said companies
Tumblr media
The first “company” I ran into is called “Digital international Inc” and it is shown as the “legal entity” behind of many of the websites the bots tend to link to, it also has its address listed in the Marshall Islands.
By looking at trademarks owned/filed by that company, we find 2 more companies/trademarks that are/were owned by the same legal entity.
First of these is called “Mirelia Services Co.”, currently known as “Mirelia Networks”, which lists its main business as “advertising and marketing” and is registered at the same address as “Digital International”.
Tumblr media
Where things get interesting is when we look at one of the trademarks that was passed between “Mirelia” and “Digital international”, a trademark for an LGBTQ+ dating app called “Hitwe”,
The trademark application for “Hitwe” is listed as “Rescinded/canceled” but from the original registration documents and later ownership transfer filings, we come across an interesting company
Tumblr media
“Matar Trade & Invest Ltd.” This company has other similar “dating” and “marketing” companies linked to it, and is owned by “Vladimir Mnogoletniy”, a Citizen of Russia, who has lived in Ukraine for over 10 years and his runs his businesses there, but interestingly does not seem to have officially moved there, and maintains his Russian Citizenship as his only one.
He is also the CEO or a major of many other companies, the main one being “Genesis”, the company behind a controversial fitness app “BetterMe”, which has been shown to aggressively sell user data to less-than-reputable ad companies and affiliates, as well as being used to redirect money from scam dating sites and lessen the impact of credit card chargebacks from those sites [See footnote 1]
Tumblr media
What makes him a particularly interesting individual is that his father, who is a Captain of the Second Rank in the Russian Navy, is doing security work for “Sevmash” - A Russian shipbuilding company, the only one that is making nuclear submarines in Russia. He also co-authored a research paper that talks about “Military Counterintelligence activities”, The other author of said paper is an FSB officer.[See footnote 2]
Sources and footnotes:
Footnote 1: “BetterMe steals traffic”  - Article by SH[IT]HAPPENS on Medium Footnote 2: “Why don’t I no longer shake hands with Vladimir Mnogoletniy.“ - Article by SH[IT]HAPPENS on Medium
Tangent: one of the other companies that I came across that seems to be working with Mirelia is “Traffichunt”, which seems to be one of the companies selling bot spam advertisements as well.
Tumblr media
Another interesting thing is that the lawyer who filed for most of the trademarks, has quite a repertoire of similar trademarks under his belt:
Tumblr media
Most of these seem to have been rejected because the address he listed in the applications does not exist
If you read all the way to here, thank you and I hope that bot’s never bother you again.

Intelligence 101
Writing a story about spies and international intrigue? Not sure what you're diving into? Let me help!
Let's start with the basics.
What is Intelligence?
Basically, "intelligence" refers to the information gathered by governments or institutions that might help guide their course of action. However, there are many types of intelligence depending on how it was obtained, its purpose and the subject:
Human Intelligence: The word says it, intelligence obtained from human sources, generally during covert operations. Whether or not it is relevant depends on the operative's skills within their field of action.
Political Intelligence: Makes use of open-source reports provided by diplomatic personnel, particularly military attachés. Helps foresee the behavior of a country's political forces abroad. It's the least reliable source of information but the parts regarding military organization are the most sought after. Ironically, they're more accesible during war than when in peace.
Economical Intelligence: The collection of information on trade, finances, natural resources, industrial capacities, etc.
Technological Intelligence: Relating to the creation, development and improvement of methods of access and protection of information.
Strategic Intelligence: In charge of gathering information regarding the capacities and intentions of other countries. Includes covert operations beyond the borders, development and maintenance of special and secret diplomatic relations are included here.
Tactical Intelligence: Otherwise known as "operational" or "of combat". It has military purposes and is mainly used in times of war or international tension.
Counterintelligence: In charge of protecting a country's own intelligence systems against foreign ones.
Signal Intelligence (SIGINT): Obtained by the interception and decoding of encrypted messages.
Electronic Intelligence (ELINT): Includes remote sensors such as motion, sound and traffic ones placed in strategic spots in other countries to learn about their capabilities.
False Intelligence: Makes use of deception, disinformation, subversion and double agents.
Images Intelligence (IMINT): Videos, aerial and satellite information. Nowadays they play a vital part in the gathering of strategic information.
Now that we have dipped our toes into the intricate world of espionage things should start to seem clearer. I hope this has helped you and if you would like more information on the subject of Intelligence do stay tuned.
If you have any specific questions, feel free to submit an ask and i will do my best to help!

Joséphine Baker
Colorization by Klimbim
Tumblr media
Josephine Baker in a Paris nightclub ca. 1927.
Born in Saint Louis, Missouri, Josephine Baker (1906-1975) would go on to become one of the first African-American women celebrities in France and in Europe more broadly in the 1920s, gaining notoriety for her beauty and innovative performance style but also for her contributions to the French Resistance movement.
Tumblr media
Josephine Baker in Zouzou (1934)
At the outbreak of World War II and the Nazi occupation of France, Baker became a member of the French Resistance movement. Performing for and socializing with members of the German military, Baker used her celebrity to gain confidential information about Nazi strategy and passed this back to the Deuxième Bureau, the French counterintelligence unit.
Additionally, her status as a travelling performer provided cover for her travel to the United Kingdom, where she carried notes about German military operations written in invisible ink on her sheet music to the British authorities. After the war, she returned to global stages with bolstered success. Although she remained in France, Baker was an outspoken activist in the American Civil Rights Movement, often refusing to perform in segregated venues and appearing at demonstrations in Washington, most notably alongside Martin Luther King, Jr. at the 1963 March on Washington. Though some American activists criticized her involvement in the movement, arguing that her lifetime in France had made her disconnected from the contemporary political issues in the United States, Baker argued that her social status in France and experience of relative racial equality in Europe had made her even more aware of and engaged with the fight for equal rights. Josephine Baker continued to be an outspoken advocate for civil rights in appearances around the world up until her death in 1975.
Tumblr media
In 1951, the NAACP named her “Outstanding Woman of the Year.”
Baker was highly supportive of the civil rights movement and she spoke directly before Martin Luther King Jr. gave his “I Have a Dream” speech in 1963.
"I have walked into the palaces of kings and queens and into the houses of presidents. And much more. But I could not walk into a hotel in America and get a cup of coffee, and that made me mad."
Following King’s death in 1968, his widow, Coretta Scott King, asked Baker if she would be open to taking the minister’s place in the Movement. She declined, citing concerns for her young children. (she had 2 children & adopted 10 more).
Tumblr media
For her wartime contribution, she was awarded the Croix de Guerre, the Rosette de la Résistance and was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor by Gen. Charles de Gaulle himself.

Russian interference in the EU Parliament election: Czechia’s counterintelligence service said Thursday that it recently uncovered a Russian-backed “influence network” operating in the country with goal of influencing the upcoming European Parliament elections. The operation reportedly targeted politicians from Poland, Hungary, Germany, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Following the agency’s announcement, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said Prague will impose new sanctions on Putin-aligned Ukrainian businessmen Viktor Medvedchuk and Artiom Marchevsky, as well as a company linked to Medvedchuk, for their roles in the scheme. The Polish broadcaster Polskie Radio, citing sources familiar with the case, reported that “money was allegedly provided” to politicians from German’s far right AfD party in Prague.

The End of an Era (Ikemen Prince)
Records of Assassin!Emma
Tumblr media
Warnings: mentions of blood, Gilbert, and violence
Word count: 2.5k
Featured characters: Emma, Gilbert, Roderich, Chevalier, and Clavis
Plot: Emma undertakes a mission from Chevalier to bring back information on weapon development in Obsidian
3rd person, contains Gilbert pov
A/N Thank you kind patron Atelier for the generous donation of daggers and poison vials for Assassin!Emma
Tumblr media
Killers for hire...
They do not choose their missions, they only follow orders.
She alone knew the final destination of those who openly defied the black-clad minister when his stay at the palace was still young, those who disappeared without a trace or final word. She was the specter that roamed these castle walls. The shadow of the devil.
It was already nighttime when Emma approached the castle of Obsidian from the moonless side. The shot of her crossbow was timed with the loud clang coming from the execution site in front of the castle. A fellow agent just went down. Emma hastily climbed to the top of the wall, the rope disappearing behind her as that of the most daring of magic shows about the same time another patrol was turning around the corner.
Normally in Information retrieval missions, a spy would be planted as a staff member, waiting months even before making any move, but the castle of Obsidian had such thorough background checks and investigations, The only way was a direct approach. Emma knew her biggest obstacle yet to overcome was not the bleak walls of the castle but the first prince of Obsidian himself, if she ever had the misfortune of running into him. From hearsay, Emma suspected it was this avid collector of information and enthusiast of spies that led Obsidian's counterintelligence operations. Once you touch a web, it doesn't take long before the spider comes forth.
Tumblr media
Gilbert lounged in a chair behind a black desk, resting his head in the palm of his hand leisurely, one blood-red eye trained on the papers in front of him while a hooded figure gave detailed reports by his side.
¨...Just a small number of refugees fled across the border to Jade. It appears they were escaping exceedingly high taxation from the corrupt noble in their territory. Needless to say, he was taken care of¨
¨Some might come, others will go, It's the natural order of things, don't you think?¨
Gilbert picked up one of the papers giving it a once-over
¨...there have been no reports of anyone coming back, oder?¨
¨You said something about a commotion that happened around that time at the border, several days ago¨ Gilbert's voice was cheery albeit his eye shined devoid of any mirth. ¨A good opportunity to escape, as it goes, some would risk life and limb to get out, conversely some would use the opportunity risking as much trying to get in. Do you know who that might be?¨
The question was purely rhetorical, followed by a knowing silence. There were a few reasons someone might want to breach obsidian's defenses and it was never for sightseeing. Gilbert finally averted his gaze from the paperwork and border reports, this time looking somewhere far through the window where stormy clouds were beginning to form.
¨hmm The birds that sing at dusk were unusually silent this evening.¨ He hummed.
To anyone else, those words might have appeared cryptic but oftentimes one had to have an eye for the little things, those little anomalies others brushed aside. Gilbert always had an eye for details, that's what set him apart from the rest. Ironically, with one eye he saw more than most, little missteps, like for example, when someone carelessly scared off the wildlife.
Gilbert smiled.
¨Im saying we have a visitor¨
Tumblr media
A shadow crept through the spacious hallways. The silence that reigned in this foreign place was eerie, somewhat unnatural. Emma sidestepped security, men dressed in the distinct military uniform of Obsidian, numerous times, reaching the armory easily. Almost too easily. Not that an assassin would seek conflict or the thrill of a fight like some ordinary street hooligan but the reception or lack thereof was off-putting. It felt like a twisted welcome like Emma was already expected. The door that held those coveted secrets stood ahead, beckoning.
The space was littered with heavy rectangular crates and other goods that to her trained eye were of no interest. She crouched to bust a gap in one of the boxes using a metallic tool as a lever, picking by their size and placement. Fortunately, Emma wouldn't need to search for long, luck was on her side as she extracted the paragon of military innovation that was carefully stacked there. She passed her hand over its cool surface, it weighed much lighter than Emma imagined. Noted, they improved on that aspect as well it seems. Emma didn't find any ammunition nearby, assuming it was placed in a different location altogether.
Out of a side pocket, she fished out her own bullet for comparison. The one in her hands was salvaged from its testing grounds a long time ago, it didn't fit the new rifle which needed much smaller, sharper, and slender ammunition. The new bullets must have shrunk and taken shape compared to the lump of metal in her palm. Could this mean this version was more accurate? it was unlikely to be just to cheapen production; Obsidian usually went all out in weapons production, its cost coming only second to its quality. Emma burned its measurements to memory. Checking the thing inside and out briskly, a little bit too enthralled, she paused spotting the Obsidian's coat of arms stamped at the beginning of the barrel, the sign of pride of a nation. A grim feeling settled in her stomach, sensing the bigger picture. This was much more than a new toy, a new era was looming over the continent, one where knights were not welcome.
¨You seem to be enjoying yourself¨
Emma stiffened. This was unusual, she didn't sense anyone's approach.
A tap, its sound rumbled through the walls around her. Emma looked over her shoulder to see a man clad in black, standing in the doorway, both hands reclined on a cane. The pale light from the hallway outlined his raven hair, multiple medals and awards hung adorning his chest but his most prominent feature was his blood-red eye that seemed to bore into her very being. Only one man Emma knew of passed the description. She felt an uncharacteristic sense of foreboding wash over her.
¨Did i startle you?¨ Gilbert tilted his head with a sickeningly sympathetic tone. Or rather, the impression of one.
¨ You understood me just now, as I thought, you're from Rhodolite. This is unusually brash even for Chevalier, I wonder if the brutal beast is getting impatient ¨ he mused, the last part almost like an afterthought.
Emma was left bemused by the precise conclusion, she could've sworn her expression was schooled up until now, professional that she was. She didn't recall giving any answer nor sign of understanding, and then immediately regretted the slight surprise that might have shown on her features from his assessment, after the realization that the prince wasn't judging the events prior but her response to what he said just now, confirming his point.
¨I'm a big believer in giving credit where it's due. However...¨
Emma slowly stood up, grip instinctively tightening around the rifle. Gilbert only smiled as he continued monologuing.
¨I dislike trespassers. All spies are actors and by extension liars, and there's nothing I hate more than lies¨ Gilbert took something out of his pocket throwing it in the air. Emma caught the small object with her free hand.
¨This is...¨ the object in question was a black bullet.
Gilbert nodded.
¨Go ahead. You seemed a bit too eager to use it just now.¨
¨why?¨ was all Emma could muster in response, trying not to read too much into the man's contradictory words lest she get more confused, more interested in determining her next course of action.
Gilbert moved the weight of his cane into one hand, shifting from his reclined position to stand up at full height.
¨To make the game more interesting, of course.¨ That was all it was to him. A mere game.
¨Is that a threat?¨ She slowly pointed the yet-to-be-loaded barrel in his direction.
¨more of a heads-up, really¨
Confrontation with Gilbert was a gamble. Emma might have the tempting advantage here, but one thing she knew: there are few things more dangerous than a skilled enemy on his own carefully chosen ground, and Emma's mission wasn't to kill Gilbert, it was to return alive. A few moments of silence passed between the two until it was broken when, without warning, Emma hurled the rifle at his face. Gilbert caught it with one hand, by then, the assassin slid past him in one fluid motion. No further crossing the threshold, she felt a strong grip tugging at her collar. Not paying it any mind, Emma rid of her coat losing a few buttons in the process.
And suddenly, she was running, Gilbert's smile fading from view, receding into the darkness of the hallway. The light of the windows flickered by, the only sound being that of frantic steps. Seconds before Emma took a left turn her instincts went into overdrive sensing the impending ambush. She grabbed an ornate candelabra parrying mid-flight the blade that came the moment of the turn. The assailant's sword flew into the air and with a swift turn of the impromptu weapon, his hand was now securely forked into a nearby wall. The man groaned giving Emma a margin of a moment to assess the situation. Sure enough, a few dozen guards stood in her way, awaiting to block her escape route. Some of them were fully armored, a few wore military uniforms. Her ears strained hearing the approach of clattering steps from behind. It appeared that turning back was not an option either. But now, more than ever in her life, Emma knew exactly what to do. Slowly, she raised her hands in the air. The men exchanged a glance but as soon as two of them approached to apprehend her, two sharp pins found their way into their throats. As they stumbled in shock, the intruder was already dashing past them, head-on into the crowd.
Emma was an unfeeling killer in truth and a half; trained to kill and trained to do so without leaving a trace, trained in the art of assassination and the arts of infiltration and espionage, however, she was not entirely unfeeling. She felt a lot. She felt the taste of blood as one of the guards retaliated with a jab, Emma felt the humming of the air as she sidestepped the incoming cut that followed again and again, maneuvering through blades like in a frenzied dance. And at the end of the hallway, before the pale light of the moon that came through the large crystal window, her silhouette sparred a deadly duet with a relentless adversary, it was then that she felt her alarm bells go off, a sense of unease, and rightfully, at the familiar tap of a cane.
Gilbert stood at the far end of the following corridor, opposite where Emma had come from, tilting his head with a placid smile. How he appeared ahead, almost waiting, was truly a mystery that, alas, time would not allow her to resolve. In an instant, Gilbert's cane was pointing at her.
A cloud passed over the moon, yet again, hiding its alluring beauty and ethereal light. Adrenaline kicked in. Emma reacted before she could fully process what was happening, pulling the guard before her in a shielding manner, almost tearing his sleeve. She heard The slight rasp of material ripping, then a deafening discharge as shards of glass sprang everywhere like a cascade. Pain shot through her system like a shockwave, Emma stumbled back gripping the window behind her, her ears were ringing.
The guard's mass collapsed on her form tilting her world in a second that felt like an eternity and just like that Emma was falling into the abyss. Her injury burned as the rain came down, piercing the sky in thousands of icy needles. Her vision blurred the edges of the dark obsidian castle as its peaks buried themselves into the tempest clouds. Perhaps deep down Emma had already given up, only moving her limbs on instinct, her heart getting up by habit. She hit the edge of a tower, tumbling down. The tiles screeched, pierced by the dagger in her hand, dulling its polished surface. The assassin managed the relent her descent short of reaching the edge. The thick curtains of rain may serve as a cover for escape but right now all they were doing was depriving Emma of much-needed breath. It was increasingly difficult to assess distances in the darkness of the downpour and the dizzying altitude. They shifted, stretched, and narrowed all the while Emma's weight was slowly giving in to the slippery surface under her.
She pressed a hand against the smudged spot on her shoulder that darkened by the second, wincing slightly. New streams of blood replaced those washed away by the water and her cold, wet clothes stuck asfixiatingly close to her body. She turned to the sky, eyes closed, silencing a whimper of pain. Emma composed herself promptly and gripping the watery eaves, jumped, swiftly sliding into the window below. She did not remain for long. Eluding the crowded hallways, Emma swiftly exited another window, one less steep and more accessible for an escape downwards if escape was even possible for a castle that looked more like a military fortress.
Tumblr media
Emma stood before Chevalier, After crossing the border and returning to the court she went directly to the secluded room in the library. Before she gave her report the mission was far from over. His cold eyes met with hers after Emma's ragged form appeared from the shadows, bowing politely. Chevalier scoffed at her appearance. Although she already had the wound on her shoulder wrapped up in a spare piece of bandage, her boots left a fine trail of mud which the second prince probably didn't appreciate that much in his pristine sanctuary of books, not to mention her uniform was rightfully tattered from her presumably ungraceful fall in bushes amid her descent.
¨...It's worse than I initially imagined. It's a good thing the prototype is too complex for mass production... for now¨
¨That only buys us time. Go on.¨ Chevalier closed the book in his lap giving Emma his undivided attention.
¨Unfortunately they already have enough in stock to supply an entire company¨
¨ But with its destructive power it could make for one hell of a surgical strike¨ Clavis' head popped from behind the shelves. He stacked a book from the pile he was carrying in its place with a shady smile that looked more forced than usual.
¨If he's withholding could it be that he's waiting for the right moment, what do you think Chev?¨
¨He's not one to go for a direct approach¨ Chevalier stood up from his seat. ¨enough of this¨
Clavis frowned. Chevalier turned at last, his pale blue eyes zeroing in on the spy. ¨What else did you bring?¨
¨No, that was all for now... oh¨ Emma's hand brushed past something in her pocket. Strange, She could've sworn she lost it somewhere along her escape... then when did...?
She carefully extracted the object and handed it to her employer.
Clavis stole curious glances while Chevalier turned it in his palm, frowning immediately. It was the black bullet, on closer inspection It was by no means ordinary, Emma even had doubts now if it even belonged to the type of rifle she was inspecting back then.
¨That's very like him to do¨
Chevalier tossed the bullet back to Emma, his silence translated to "Good work". Before Emma could ask what was wrong he turned towards the library exit.
Clavis followed suit striding gallantly, passing Emma with a pat on the shoulder.
Emma turned the bullet, It was under the reddish hues of the setting sun that she caught a glimpse of something she had missed the first time she held it
A familiar name was etched into the bullet's shell, each letter's silvery outline gradually shining on the black surface. This was how Gilbert von Obsidian sent his regards to the second prince.
Did he know of her arrival? was her escape less of a coincidence and more of a calculated gambit?
Emma thought, regardless of the truth of what happened,
"What a bold declaration of war"

So when Babel got announced I was excited to see what Ascalon and her event would give us in regards to her relationship with Red and while there's not much in her files, there's actually a lot more than I thought there was. It's actually kind of funny but this is going to be split into two parts: their relationship and similarities.
Then a conclusion to top it all off but without further ado:
Their relationship.
So to cover the basics, Ascalon, Projekt Red and Scavenger are all a part of S.W.E.E.P: Rhodes Island's counterintelligence and covert operations, with Ascalon being the director and therefor Red's boss.
There is possible implications that there was more about their relationship prior to the Babel event. One is how close Ascalon is to Kal'tsit, the two working together during Babel and even more closely upon Theresa's death and the forming of Rhodes Island. Another is that Red's promotion record is Ascalon talking about Red and specifically the line: "All I'm here to do is sharpen her fangs and her knife."
Not exactly stellar evidence of anything, but that's where Babel comes in and gives us Ascalon's File 1 which focuses on her position within Rhodes as well as a glimpse into how S.W.E.E.P operates:
Tumblr media
(Hong is Red)
Tumblr media
This is all that we get about Red within Ascalon's files: that Red cannot smell her and that she holds S.W.E.E.P's special training record for putting a ball of tail hair into Ascalon's pocket by what is theorized to be Ascalon's own technique. With Ascalon making an inconspicuous comment.
The most important part being how it's theorized that Ascalon herself taught Red this technique. After all, it's the one thing that Red managed to do as she didn't get much information so it's entirely her planting the tail fur onto Ascalon that is impressive and a feat that not even Ines has done. So it's possible that Red alone was taught this trick.
It adds more context to Red's promotional record as Ascalon saying she'll sharpen Red's fangs and knife has reason now to belief she really did mean personally teaching Red:
Tumblr media
But also, this isn't the first time we've seen Red planting something on someone without their noticing. Her module starts with her stealing a chip and planting a fake one onto her target without them noticing which with this context, might've been her using this technique she learnt from Ascalon:
Tumblr media
If true, they're adding further context and bringing up an inconspicuous detail from Red's module that could be a coincidence but if not, is possibly emblematic of thought being put towards their relationship.
Before I move onto the similarities as revealed in the vent, I want to expand upon why no further connection between them is displayed in Ascalon's files.
The entirety of her File 1 is to demonstrate how little information is known about Ascalon and what exactly is. The rest of her files are mainly various physical documents on hand that could be added to the file, like voice recordings (File 2), intelligence regarding her (File 3) and a letter from her to the Doctor (File 4).
If Ascalon and Red have a closer relationship it wouldn't be mentioned in the file because Ascalon is so unknown that likely no one found out to put it into the files. Hence it being theorized that Red learnt Ascalon's technique (possibly being a hint by the game writers that there is more.)
*cough cough* Red or Ascalon oprec *cough cough*
Similarities.
So actually this bit is the reason why I'm talking about this and my smoking gun that Ascalon and Red have a deeper relationship than simply being boss and employee. I will say however that I've not read the entire event. I skimmed through the early sections and only read Ascalon's parts.
Nonetheless, before I even read the event and was reading through Ascalon's files, I was surprised to discover this line in her File 2:
Tumblr media
The event goes more into this. The Catastrophe storm that is mentioned here is referencing when she first met and subsequently was taken in by Theresis and Theresa. Before that she was surviving on her own in the wilderness, hunting wild animals just to survive and from a very young age.
This is very similar to Red, who through the information found within Il Siracusano and her module, we learn also grew up surviving in the wilderness. It's very much implied that Red came into frequent contact with wild animals in which she had to defend herself:
Tumblr media
But that's not all, though it is the root for the next similarity that they share.
A noticeable thing about Red's speech is that it's broken. She speaks in short sentences or with sizeable pauses between her words:
Tumblr media
And we know from the vignette: Operational Intelligence - After-class Homework, we know that Red is doing homework, at least on English in which she does have problems understanding:
Tumblr media
And her files say that she has educational problems, all compounding Red's problems with speech. But when we see Ascalon as a child in the Babel event, especially when she first meets Theresis and Theresa, this is how she speaks:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She has broken speech, a thing that continues into the next scene of Ascalon when she was young and it's deliberately explained as being because she spent so long in the wilderness:
Tumblr media
The both of them grew up in the wilderness, not having anyone else to talk to or perhaps rather not having reason to talk which leads to them having broken speech when they finally do enter civilization.
And as shown in the first meeting between Ascalon and Theresis, Ascalon's first action was to try and kill him since that's how she learnt how to survive with wild animals, which she didn't see other humans being anything else.
Well later on, when she was taken in by Theresis, a younger Manfred bursts into the room they were in and I believe it startles Ascalon who's reflexively attacked him:
Tumblr media
I've not read the entire event yet as I said but nothing before this showed them meeting and rather push that they shouldn't know each other and the scene moves on from this with nothing implying she attacked him because she recognized him. (I might be wrong however.)
So likely, Ascalon felt threatened by him bursting into the room and reflexively attacked him which is another thing that Red does because of her similar past:
Tumblr media
And from their similar paths come similar struggles. Only knowing how to kill, not having their own beliefs, struggling to interact with the rest of the world.
For Ascalon it's highlighted in scenes like these:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And for Red, it's the entire point of her module but particularly this section of it:
Tumblr media
When she came into civilization it broke her, she had no guidance and to this day she doesn't fully interact with civilization, doesn't know how to spend money and by the time of Il Siracusano she returns to Grandma, yet to form her own beliefs.
Also she routinely defines herself as a wolf hunter which really is an assassin for Grandma. A weapon if you will.
In conclusion.
Red and Ascalon have many many things in common and they are things that we know Ascalon are aware of as she comments on Red's problems in Red's promotional record. And it feels like there's too much similarities, that they practically share the same past that combined with what little is said of Red in the file I'm all but certain that Ascalon and Red's relationship is more than just boss and employee.
And I also think an interesting part about these scenes in the event about Ascalon is the questions it raises about Red, as we see how Ascalon met Theresis and Theresa, as well as got her name.
Because there's still many mysteries about Red we don't have answers to. How she met Kal'tsit and the origin of her name, because Projekt Red is ever a curious one, being two that are highlighted here.
But you could also see Ascalon and the paths she took as examples of where Red's character is or could go. Maybe even flip that around: Ascalon meets someone who is practically identical to her past self. How does she feel? How does she interact with Red on this basis?
It's all brainstorming and me being hopeful that this means Red can finally get an oprec, we see the two interact or that Red Alter is on the way but I am 99% confident that these similarities are purposeful and we'll see something on them.
Thank you for reading all the way through.
(Also there's not enough information about S.W.E.E.P to make it it's own post but from Terra: A Journey and Ascalon's files:
Theresa was killed and by extension Babel fell apart in Autumn of 1094. But from voice recordings in Terra: A Journey, we know S.W.E.E.P was founded as part of Rhodes in 1094 also and Red being a founding member means she likely joined within a year of Rhodes creation.
So she's known Kal'tsit and Ascalon for three years before the Doctor and met them likely not very long after Theresa's death.
Also S.W.E.E.P officially has an office. Idk if it's the room from Ascalon's theme or not but it exists. Red and Scavenger probably sit around talking about Provence there.)

things I do not under any circumstances need: more AU ideas
things that my brain held me hostage until I typed up:
---
Nursery of Worldseed
"When there is nothing left to burn, the embers will turn cold. Only the inescapable long night will remain. The morning that follows, the springtime thaw: this is yours to steward. Love the world where I no longer can, ████; see it to fruition."
— Baba-Dekabrya, Tsaritsa of Everloving Peace, whispered to ██████ ████ ████████ days before the latter ███████ select █████ ██ ███████ ████ ████████
◆ Name: Innamorata
◆ Title: The Flower
◆ Nursery of Worldseed
◆ ???: Dendro
◆ Constellation: Ashvatta Diapausis
A rainstorm recently flooded a basement beneath Zapolyarny Palace. Among the many records lost was the contract drawn up between Her Majesty and her Sixth Harbinger. So badly was the contract damaged, it's impossible to tell whether it is centuries old or merely months. All that is left is an addendum, signed in blood, attesting that both parties were very satisfied by the deal.
Innamorata operates behind the scenes in Teyvat, pruning and shearing, nudging mortal innovation and inquiry away from topics that might draw unwanted attention from certain "people in high places".
Put no stock in the rumours that the Tsaritsa and the Flower are as close mother and daughter. To those who know Her Majesty — an unsmiling clown, a bard with aeons-ringed eyes — such an idea is risible. Her Majesty has long since had no love left to give. Any affection she shows the Sixth is a self-soothing denial of this truth.
Innamorata, too, is playing along with this harmless dream. Whatever she is missing, she knows it's gone for good.
Character Story 1
Those who compile dossiers on Fatui Harbingers may devote reams of paper to speculation on Damselette's heritage or Tartaglia's powers. Yet on the subject of Innamorata, there is little to say. Her name is added to intelligence briefings as an afterthought, a perfunctory inclusion.
This is not a sign of disrespect, nor to suggest that the Sixth is insignificant. There's simply not that much to say.
A joint report from Liyuean and Fontainian security services might read like this:
Title: Innamorata, 6th Fatui Harbinger
Aliases: The Flower, Il Fiora, ████, the Gardener of Sumeru, Bough Trimmer
Vision, Delusion, etc.: Nothing of note.
Age: Unknown, but appears of ordinary age.
Height: 0.1–100'
Weight: unknown
Physical description: Female human with unremarkable pinnae.
Skin tone: See previous.
Hair: Light coloured. Hue and colour distribution are unremarkable. Often worn up in a typical manner.
Eyes: Unremarkable.
Other notes (appearance): Eloquence and bearing unexceptional for someone of her age.
Known activities:
- Fatui counterintelligence, responsible for many of the Harbingers' security measures.
- Monitors various technological and research centres, including the Fontaine Research Institute, the Eight Trades, [...].
- Suspected of manipulation and sabotage of the above.
- Influencing foreign and domestic policy within Sumeru.
History: Recruited by the Fatui some time after the Cataclysm and some time before the first draft of this report was completed.
Allegiance: Like most Harbingers, her personal loyalty to the Fatui and Snezhnaya is ambiguous. Neutral attitude towards Fontaine, Inazuma, Liyue, Mondstadt, and Natlan. Not much else to say.
Motivation: Unremarkable.
Known capabilities: Unremarkable; however, unremarkable. Command of various elements unremarkable, and combined with her unremarkable intelligence, her theoretical power is potentially unremarkable. Rumours of omniscience are unsubstantiated and may be her own propoganda.
Known casualties: Nobody of note.
Known weaknesses: None.
Overall threat assessment: Inconclusive.
(with kudos to @dandelion-wings for the "meme" format)

I did my undergrad thesis in History on Sir Francis. He was a perfect intelligence head. He established agent nets, worked collection, operated a counterintelligence service as well as a special activities organization. Impressive man.

Our Man Bashir AU where Julian was sent to DS9 as a counterintelligence operative specifically to keep an eye on any lingering Cardassian security threats (which turned out to primarily mean “Garak”) but he gets periodic updates/instructions from his handler encoded in the holosuite programs “Felix” sends him (because Felix thinks it’s funny and also it ensures that literally no one would ever suspect him).
So when Garak breaks into his holosuite, the reason he’s so hostile at first is because he thinks he’s been made and is privately freaking the fuck out. The whole time he’s steering Garak around insisting that they play through The Right Way it’s because he’s simultaneously trying to get the information he came in for and not give any sign to Garak that this is anything but a cheesy, ridiculous spy holonovel.
