A Copper Age woman's skeleton found in Spain reveals a story of survival and medical marvel. She must have had a great prehistoric surgeon because she survived not one, but two surgeries to her skull!

Throwback Thursday- old style of illustrating The occipital bone, and what makes it important? First off, it's a cranial bone protecting your brain. So there's that. Secondly, that great hole allows your brain to become a spinal cord or a spinal cord to become the brain, and therefore connect all the pieces of your body, sending and receiving information all day and all night. That little cross hairs on the inside are the attachments of the reciprocal tension membrane, falls and tentorium, that then fascially transfer through the bone to become the nuchal ligament. I talk more about that in the first course. The occipital bone also mirrors the sacrum as the top pole of the spine to the bottom. #asabovesobelow #cranialbones #occipitalbone #occiput #occipitalneuralgia #cranialsacraltherapy #cranialbonesmove #cranialnerves #cranials #cranialsacral #cranial #craniosacral #craniosacraltherapy #cranium #cranialanatomy #adaptablepolarity #anatomystudy #humananatomy #knowthyself https://www.instagram.com/p/Cp2zD2arRch/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I dreamed I was dancing, able to leap high enough to touch the branches of trees, and to descend to the earth safely, only to do it again and again and again, higher, higher, almost floating back down, with buoyancy. How exhilarating! We were talking about the Tide, about sensing the Tide ascending and descending in your central energy channel. How to be still and bring your awareness to that channel, the channel that is home to and connects your chakras. The cranial pole of the channel (crown, sahasrara chakra) opens upward, to heaven, the cosmos, the universe, spirit. That upward direction is called levity. The sacral pole of the channel (root or muladhara chakra) opens to the earth. That direction is called gravity. Gravity and levity. Grounded and open to Spirit: balance. My dream was about experiencing levity. Who needs a dream like this? Someone who is growing a private practice in Craniosacral Biodynamics, exploring Biodynamic Meditation, teaching, making 5 trips this year for training and personal growth, who is also looking at a new location after 12 years. Lots going on. Balance needed. Today’s Biodynamic Meditation was about breathing, posture, sensing Tide. I invited a cranial stillpoint. Ajna chakra, radiance at my face, crown chakra. Swirliness in my cranium, then in my abdomen, at manipura chakra, then in pelvis, ending with sacral stillpoint. #biodynamicmeditation #craniosacralbiodynamics #craniosacraltherapy #craniosacral #tide #centralenergychannel #chakras #awareness #cranial #levity #sacral #gravity #dream #spirit #grounding #balance #stillpoint #radianceatmyface #swirliness (at Austin, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn2AAbIO24H/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

"I can't stop playing video games I'm so paralyzed" vs my mouth and face are slowly paralyzing themselves because my immune system won't stop attacking my cranial nerves. I gag and choke on everything I swallow including my own saliva- this is dangerous. I drool, both in my sleep and when I'm awake. I slur my speech which makes people think I am drunk. I have strabismus.

In 1914, Swiss archaeologist Ernest Roulin stumbled upon two 5,500-year-old cranial amulets that offer intriguing insights into our ancestors' beliefs. Did they provide protection, or possess mystical powers?

Very happy to report that Sven's limp is much improved! He's still clearly favoring his left leg, but he's putting weight on it now.
We bought him a knee brace to help support that knee as he gets back to being more active. Today we went for a walk for the first time in about 3 weeks! I'm still going to have him outside on leash only for at least another two weeks and probably moderately restricted activity at least through the summer. But I'm hoping to teach him to retrieve a floating retriever and build up some muscles with water exercise.

The human cranium What to say about this? Why’s it important? I read once that all cranial faults “should” resolve with a walk in the woods or a good night’s sleep. I’d add with a decent work out maybe, a breath altering activity should do it too. And yet they don’t always and things get stuck… I teach a good deal about that in the courses. Pictured here, or highlighted, is the occipital and sphenoid bone which meet at the sphenobasilar junction. It’s cartilaginous which if I remember correctly means it is not innervated…. Which means the base of your skull is a hard place to sense? What do you think? Can you feel the mild expansion and contraction of this junction with breath? Can I or am I just making something up?😳😂😂 #cranium #cranial #cranials #sphenoid #sphenobasilar #proprioceptiontraining #proprioception #breath #breathing #cranialsutures #cranialnerves #concussionrecovery #concussionrehab #tbirecovery #adaptablepolarity https://www.instagram.com/p/CnuZD6BpFA1/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

This morning in my Biodynamic Meditation, the Tide was elusive. I did 12 Bhastrikas, settled into sukhasana, and tuned into my body. I sensed my midline, seeking the rising and falling sensation of tidal motion. Nothing. Was I in a stillpoint? I couldn’t tell! I didn’t feel a pooling of energy at either my cranial or sacral areas. I remember when I first started getting acquainted with Biodynamics 10 years ago, seeking the tide and not finding it. Then, one day I found it, or part of it, in my abdomen along my midline or central channel. I felt elated! The next day I couldn’t find it. I went through a period of finding it and losing it. Each time I found it, it became clearer. I was able to sense its full path, moving up and down between the crown of my head and my pelvic floor in a stately rhythm. Nowadays, I usually find it easily. Sometimes I find it in still moments during the day, at a red light, standing in line, waiting for my food to be brought to my table. There’s a reassuring quality to finding it. I believe it plays a big role in homeostasis, keeping our many physiological systems coordinated. Sometimes it seems like a battery, with positive and negative poles. When it goes into stillpoint and the swirly state, its healing energy is optimizing our energetic patterns that augment our wellbeing. While I was waiting to find it this morning, I noticed energy in the palms of my hands, where we have chakras. I felt my ajna third-eye chakra open but not so much radiance at my face today. #biodynamicmeditation #craniosacralbiodynamics #craniosacraltherapy #craniosacral #tide #midline #centralchannel #seeking #finding #sensation #stillpoint #cranial #sacral #palmchakras #homeostasis #ajnachakra #optimizing #wellbeing (at Austin, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnE9crjOLcI/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Ok, I clearly have a problem of not knowing what weekday it is, ever. I need to learn how to schedule posts for the future if I want to stop missing every single Woodward Wednesday. This is getting embarrassing. Have some Alice B. Woodward Diplodocuses (Diplodoci?) as a consolation for now, on this... uh, Woodward Friday.
Tumblr media
Is it just me or do they have duck heads? This has to be the only time I've seen diplodocids with that particular nostril configuration. A misidentification of the antorbital fenestra (skull opening in front of the orbit, as seen in the photo below) perhaps?
