Summary: Y/n is trying to figure her life out but is going to be hard since her brother is the new trollhunter and she is plagued by dreams and feelings she doesn’t understand.

Chapter Summary: Merlin comes back with bad news.

Y/n sighed as she submerged her body into the tub, the hot water now kissing her neck. The wrinkles on her skin gave away the hours she had spent on the soapy water. The bathroom had turned into a warm, quiet refuge from the babies running around in the Lake’s house. The screaming, the noisy toys, the spit, the dirty diapers. It all had become too much for the wizard to handle. The only moments of peace she could find were when she would put her head under the water. The world disappearing for an instant, the only noise she could hear was the calming lullaby of her blood pumping under the boiling water.

The tiles vibrated loud enough to make the babies napping in Jim’s room to scream in desperation. Y/n sat up, water spilling out of the tub as she prepared herself to throw the culprit across the room only to look down at Toby’s smiling face on her phone looking back at her. The bubbling anger died down to be taken over by another type of annoyance, the one where you are the only one to blame.

Toby had been texting and calling all day and Y/n had been avoiding his texts and calls all day. She didn’t have a good explanation, she just wanted to be left alone. Since Jim left she hasn’t been able to be alone, not even while peeing ever since the babies learnt to walk. Always working, hanging out or taking care of someone.

Y/n groaned, submerging herself into the water. The tub was the only place where she could be, but from her water tumb she heard someone knocking at the door. She emerged, her shoulders already falling forward.

“Y/n? Honey?” Barbara called.

“Yes, mom?”

“You should check your phone”

Y/n’s hand trembled as she opened the door to the bookstore. Toby said that the world may be ending yet again, but that wasn’t her biggest worry. Merlin had been awakened for more than a few days and Y/n didn’t say a word to Douxie. She blamed herself. Why did she always listen to her father?

She breathed in and out trying to leave her fears out on the street.

“And Steve Palchuk, Creepslayer!”

“I have no idea who you are” books flew around the once well kept bookstore, Merlin sorted them out before packing them in a flying chest “but we’re desperate. Thankfully, we have the brute”

Y/n stood behind Douxie and whispered in his ear:

“Oh, he is in a good mood”

Douxie smiled, turning back:

“Hello, darling”

“Hi” she smiled back.

Douxie grabbed her hand and for a moment, they ignored what was happening around them, both lost in eachother’s eyes, in eachother’s warmth. “Aah!” Steve’s yelp pulled Y/n out of the enchantment.

“Careful!” Y/n called out the older wizard and the chest flying behind him for their recklessness“ Are you okay?” She ran to the blonde teenager, using the hand that held Douxie to hold Steve’s head.

“Yes” he sniffed.

“Y/n! That’s great! Now we have the brute and a master wizard” Merlin didn’t turn to greet his daughter.

“Good to see you too” she said sarcastically “What’s going on?” She looked around looking for the messy black haired boy “Where’s Jim?”

“Yeah, where’s Claire?” Toby joined the chorus “I thought they were with you”

“Answers forthcoming. Make preparations. We’ve a journey ahead” Merlin kept packing “and don’t…”

“But, master…” Douxie interrupted.

“ ‘But, master’ me” Merlin finished.

“Are you sure you want to count on these children? They’re clearly not ready for this” Douxie asked.

“Excuse me, college dude, these children fought off a fifty foot extraterrestrial” Steve accidentally punched the head off the enchanted armor.

“Oh, that’s why you kept calling me?” Y/n turned to Toby, guilt creeping up her throat.

“Don’t worry. We…” Toby turned to help Steve fight off the enchanted armor “Dude, let’s go off his head”

“Douxie is right, father” Y/n quickly followed Merlin and Douxie away from the teenagers “They already fought enough things. Kids shouldn’t be fighting. They can’t keep doing this”

“Master, I’m ready for this” Douxie pitched himself full of confidence.

“Doubtful” Merlin said, focused on packing.

Y/n sighed:

“Just hear him out…”

“Silence!” Merlin commanded.

Y/n mouth stayed open, her smile falling into a frown, the words still weighing on her tongue. The familiar warmth of anger quickly ran through her body.

“I mean, silence” Merlin repeated softer “all of you” turning to the fighting teenagers “Can you not hear that?”

The group shook their heads. After the battle, Arcadia was destroyed, again, so the strange sounds could be anything, a car finally exploding or a building giving up. What wasn’t normal was the power going out. Y/n turned her head to the window, in the darkness the only thing she could see was the reflection of the chimney’s fire. She twisted her wrist revealing her staff.

“Something wicked this way comes” Merlin walked to the window followed by Douxie.

Something hit against the glass activating the barrier. Douxie took a step back covering his eyes.

“Shadow mephits?” Merlin turned to his apprentice “Hisirdoux, did you lead them here?”

“No, no!” Douxie waved his hands around, appalled that his master would think that.

Y/n pinched her nose. She felt like she had seen this scene many times before.

“I mean, I don’t think so?” Douxie looked out the window once more.

“Yes, we did” Archie walked up to confirm their mistake.

Douxie nervously chuckled under his master’s incredulous gaze.

“The barrier won’t hold for long” Merlin turned back “We must make egress! Tobias, take my things” with a movement of his arm, Toby went flying on top of the chest through the stairs.

Before Merlin could keep giving directions, the shadow memphits broke down the barrier, entering the bookstore.

“All of you, to the roof!” Merlin screamed, killing one of the creatures with his magic.

Y/n ran behind her friends to the roof only to find the roof as full shadow memphits as the bookstore.

“Why is the roof full of shadow memphits?” Y/n heard Al’s voice. The girl turned and saw the cat biting one of the creatures’ tales.

“Al!” Y/n ran, picking him up before the creatures could return the favor.

“That tasted awful” he shook his head.

“Stand back!” Merlin alerted.

“Everyone on” Before she could turn to look, Aaarrrgghh threw her onto a ship.

“I would like a warning next time” Al left Y/n’s arms.

“Maybe when we aren’t under attack” Y/n stood up pointing her staff to the shadow memphits Aaarrrgghh had on his back, destroying them in a ray of crimson so Steve and Toby could help the troll get into the ship.

As she lowered her staff she saw Douxie grabbing the baranda, distracted by something in the ground.

“Are you okay?” She walked up to him, softly grabbing his elbow.

He didn’t turn back, his mind absorbed by what the blue light of the barrier was reflecting.

“Doux…” Y/n called looking down, finally seeing what paralyzed Douxie: a knight surrounded by dark magic Y/n couldn’t understand.

The knight looked back at Douxie, his empty eyes focused only on the wizard. Douxie shivered when he returned the look. The knight appeared soulless, there seemed to be no emotion behind the visor.

The shadow memphits started to crawl into the mystery knight’s body like they were returning to its home making Y/n shiver. That wasn’t natural.

“Boy…” the dark voice echoed in the wizard's minds.

Y/n’s nails dig into Douxie’s bicep, both frozen in place looking back at the knight while his voice poisoned their insides with fear.

“Look out!” Merlin pulled them down by their jackets before the knight’s spears could reach them.

Y/n stood up, looking back at her father with a frown, not out of anger but out of confusion, she doesn’t remember the knight attacking them.

“Are you alright, love?” Douxie grabbed Y/n’s cheek with both hands and examined every inch of her face.

“Of course” she smiled, shaking the confusion away “Are you?” She grabbed one of his wrists, pulling his hand away to lay in his chest.

“I’m alright” he pulled her closer.

Y/n closed her eyes letting the movement of the ship and the familiar warmth of Douxie wash the adrenaline of the battle out of her sistem.

“What the heck is that?!” Steve screamed.

“Welcome, young squires to Camelot” Merlin announced.

Y/n quickly opened her eyes up, slightly pulling away from Douxie. In front of them, flying in the middle of the night sky stood the old castle that she once called home. A nostalgia ridden sigh escaped out of her lips. The castle was frozen in time, everything looked the same except a big green stone under it but that still didn’t change the strange feeling of coming back home after a long journey that invaded her.

“Camelot? As in ancient-old-people-times Camelot?” Toby screamed.

“Let the old people jokes begin” Y/n turned to Douxie, laughing.

The boy chuckled but his eyes were still glossy with the nostalgia of their childhood home, he was still lost in the emotion of coming back.

Y/n smiled, laying her head against his shoulder letting herself too be lost in what used to be.

“Sir Galahad, how look the skies?” Merlin screamed to the old man keeping watch in one of the towers.

“All quiet, my old friend!” The knight reported back.

Y/n turned to look at Sir Galahad waving back. She messily laughed, euphoria cursing through her veins when she saw he hadn’t changed one bit.

“Keep your eyes on the horizon” Merlin ordered before starting his parking maneuver.

“Oh, lord” Y/n gripped the baranda as she felt the instability in the velocity.

“I say, coming in a little hot, don’t you think?” Archie suggested as he grabbed himself from dear life.

“Rubbish!” Complained Merlin.

“He’s going to kill us all!” Al screamed as the green light slowed down the ship.

“Whoo hoo hoo hoo!” Steve screamed as he walked the entrance of the castle.

“Woah!” Toby echoed.

“It’s been nine hundred years since I was last here” Douxie said more to himself, turning around observing the unchanged castle.

“It hasn’t changed a bit” Y/n looked around searching for a small vase out of place but not finding it.

“Well except for the flying part” Douxie added.

“Nine hundred years?” Steve chuckled “Yeah right. You’re like 19?”

Y/n and Douxie shared a look, with a smile reminding all the adventures they had in the last century.

“Give or take a few centuries” Archie explained before flying away.

“Wait, don’t leave me here!” Al quickly followed.

“So, how many things can your cats turn into?” Steve asked, following the cats’ flying pattern with his head.

“That depends. How many things are there?” Douxie answered.

“Uh, cool floating castle ship, but what’s the grave danger you keep talking about? Toby ran after Merlin before he could disappear in the endless hallways.

“Ah, there you are” Merlin opened his arms, welcoming his old guests.

“Claire!” Toby screamed.

“Toby!” The girl ran to his friend’s arms.

Y/n ran to the other side of the room, waiting to see her brother only to find Claire and an injured Blinky. She kept her smile, hiding her disappointment in her back pocket as the four of them hugged.

“I’m glad you’re okay” Y/n hugged Claire.

“Whoa, hey, Steve’s here too! How about…How about some love for Steve?”

“Oh. Hi, Steve” Claire pulled away from Y/n, her face devoid of feelings.

“What happened? Where’s Jim?” Y/n frowned, she had waited enough time.

“Follow me” Merlin sighed, walking deeper into the castle.

Y/n turned to Claire trying to look for clues into her face but the devastated look on the young wizard was as terrifying as the broken sigh in her father’s mouth.

She walked through the hallways of the castle with her heart in her palms as she has done many times before. How is she going to look at her mother in the eyes now?

“Jim” Toby ran to the table where Jim laid, kneeling by his side.

Y/n walked slowly, she couldn’t believe what her eyes were seeing: her little brother laying inside a crystal with a spear in his heart.

“What happened?” Y/n asked her voice sharp as the bottom of her staff.

“We were ambushed. Some ancient, dark warrior. An unstoppable knight clad in green who struck down Master Jim” Blinky recounted.

But Y/n didn’t care, the hot tears brewing in her heart didn’t care. All she could hear was: they didn’t do enough.

“Master, is that the same knight we saw at the bookstore?” Douxie's voice appeared through the cloud of anger.

“One and the same. That onyx shard is working its way towards his heart. I placed the boy in stasis, stalling its progress…for now”

‘I didn’t see it’ Y/n mind replays that moment again and again. How can she blame them when she probably couldn’t stop him either?

The anger softens and migrates to her neck, tying itself around her neck pulling tight becoming sadness, guilt.

“If I had my shadow staff, I could’ve saved him” Claire cried.

Y/n wishes she could say that that’s not true but she’s afraid that everyone can see what’s hanging around her neck.

“Who is this green knight? How do I get my hands on him?” Toby’s anger starts to spill out.

“I do not know” Merlin confesses “The green knight said but one name, which chilled me to the bone: Morgana”

Y/n frowned. This definitely wasn’t one of her tricks. At least, it didn’t look like one.

“I hate that lady” Toby said, the memories of the Eternal Night coming back to him “Wait” he looked back at the older wizard “I thought we kicked her bee witch butt to the Shadow Realm”

“Which he appeared not to know” Merlin frowned, still puzzled by the encounter with the mysterious knight.

“So this is not Morgana’s work” Y/n question, certain in her heart of the answer.

Merlin shook his head:

“I cannot confirm his alliances but he wore the emblem of Camelot”

Douxie turned to Y/n, eyes full of confusion and worry.

“Come with me, quickly” Merlin turned, walking away, leading the group across a bridge to his studio “I fear the answer lies in the past. A dark menace is coming, one even I cannot face alone”

The room, as the rest of the castle, was the same as it was a century ago. Y/n could feel the ghost of her long skirt hitting her ankles and the knot in her throat everytime she would enter her father's workspace.

“You are all now soldiers in a war started centuries ago for the world of magic” Merlin opened a small white box, from inside it a blue sphere of light appeared revealing images of the past “Once, the realms of Magic and Man clashed in endless bloodshed” Merlin twirled the circle showing them an image of the late King “King Arthur sought to wipe out magic that ravaged the lands in his was against Gunmar. I brought what few spellcasters I could under my protection to spare them from the sword…”

“Including myself” Explained Douxie.

“And Morgana le Fay” added Y/n when Morgana’s image appeared in the magic circle.

“She was the finest student I ever taught” Merlin observed the memory of young Morgana, his eyes full of proudness, he thought she was destined for great things “…until she tried to kill me” he closed his eyes “Thankfully, in my all-seeing wisdom, I created a secret weapon” he touch the sphere “the Trollhunter amulet. The war came to a standstill and I imprisoned Morgana at the Battle of Killahead Bridge. This Green Knight that assailed us was clearly born of dark magic but I have no memory of him nor what connection he could have to Morgana”

Y/n looked back at the image of his sister, Guinevere’s words stitched to her heart “you can love the person you knew” and that’s what she’s been doing every day, carrying daisies to an imaginary grave, remembering the woman who would free the trolls from the traps, the woman who would sneak her extra dessert but she knew what she saw, what she felt. That Knight is not Morgana’s work

“I really don’t think he had a connection…” Y/n wasn’t able to finish.

“You never do, Y/n. You are not impartial” Merlin cut her off.

“I know what I saw. That magic is not Morgana’s!” Y/n hit the table.

Merlin opened his mouth to protest but the warning bells cut him off.

Before they could turn to see what danger was looking for them, the castle was hit, shaking the entire structure.

“What’s happening?” Claire screamed in fear.

“Have you never been under attack before?” Merlin helped Y/n to get up from the ground “To the battlements!”

Y/n ran, her staff in hand ready to confront whatever was trying to destroy Camelot like she had done many times before. What she didn’t expect was the amount of power their enemy seemed to have. ‘The Arcane Order’ her father called it. She considered herself an experienced wizard and she had only heard that name one time when she was very young and her father made it clear she wasn’t supposed to ask anymore questions.

“Everyone get to safety now!” Merlin ordered as soon as he saw the wizards emerge from the gigantic ship that was trying to board the castle.

The wizard with ice powers attacked first, quickly overpowering Merlin, throwing him into the ground and his staff off the castle.

“I got it” Archie flew behind.

Y/n was impressed. She didn’t have another word for it. She had never seen such ability, especially in wizards that seemed as young as her

Soon enough, cannons were fired making it impossible for anyone to stand.

“We must flee” Merlin ordered.

“I’m on it” Douxie ran to steer the ship away from The Arcane Order.

The castle shook once more, Merlin and Y/n turned, seeing their new obstacle: a bridge made of ice joining the ships.

“They’re boarding us!” Merlin screamed.

“I’m on it” Y/n jumped into the edge of the tower “Go get the staff”

“Steer us clear at my command!” Merlin jumped to another tower.

Y/n pointed her staff to the thick ice that joined the ships, a hot lightning melting the middle of the bridge. She frowned, she felt sweat dripping from her forehead, melting a simple block of a was being harder than it should be. She pulled back, falling backwards into the cold stone of the castle. While the ice wizard built multiple bridges, their ally was bombing the castle shaking the old structure.

Y/n stood back up, nodded her head, her eyes focused on this time, severing the connection between the ships. She tightened the grip on her staff and swung, a big ball of red lightning cut all the communications the ship had.

“Yeah!” Y/n screamed, jumping around alone celebrating her victory. Her short victory.

The wind changed. The wizard heard the crackling of the ice murmuring behind her, she slowly turned around, afraid to confirm her suspicion: all the broken bridges were made new again and were crawling with shadow memphits.

“You’ve got to be kidding me” Y/n climbed to Douxie’s post.

“Archie, find the staff or we are all dead meat!” Douxie screamed fighting off shadow memphits off the steers.

“What do you people think I’m doing?” Archie screamed back from the sky.

The castle shook once more, making Y/n’ stomach turn.

“I officially hate flying” she joked, eyes lost in the horizon.

“We’ll travel by boat. Old style” Douxie nodded.

“Flying castles suck!” Steve screamed

Y/n turned, they were joined by Steve wearing a helmet and Claire.

“Hisirdoux, now!” Merlin screamed.

“Please don’t blow us up” Douxie prayed as he set up the time map and steered the ship “Please don’t blow us up!”

“We don’t have enough power for the jump!” Archie flew close.

“Trust in Merlin” Screamed Douxie.

Archie was wrong. The time rift was opened but the Arcane Order wasn’t about to let them leave so easily. Y/n didn’t see them hit the castle, she just knew she was lucky enough to grab Douxie's hand before falling to the night sky, until she saw his brother fall through the time rift, then, she didn’t feel so lucky.

She looked up at Douxie knowing what she had to do but before she could apologize he nodded. He knew well what Y/n wanted to do and he supported it. They let go of each other's hands at the same time.

Y/n fell as she heard Claire and Steve’s terrified screams but she couldn’t be scared, not when her eyes were focused on Douxie.

Hi! Not sure how you feel about him, but what do you headcannon about Steve and Jim in the show?

Actually, I like Steve and the fact that he has a true character developement.

My headcanon is that Steve's father forces him to be first in everything to the point that Steve begins to believe that if he isn't the first he is worth nothing. It obviously doesn't make him happy. Besides, when Steve's father leaves his mom, Steve starts to think that he's partially responsible too.

Steve initially dislikes Jim because Jim has questioned his authority over the school. Deep inside, Steve is highly insecure and scared that he won't be 'school king' anymore.

Ironically, there is a clear parallel between Jim's and Steve's family situation - both of their fathers left and their mothers start a relationship with their school teachers (and it goes without saying that both Strickler and Coach Lawrence are true father figures for boys).

I feel that Steve put more meaning into his rivalry with Jim, investing everything he could into destroying his sudden opponent. As for Jim, well, there was so much going on in his life that Steve ended rather low in his list of priorities. I believe that Steve felt it too, and probably thought that Jim kept deliberately demeaning him.

Once Steve becomes a Creepslayer, it seems he is free from the previous obsession. He is more happy to be just a knight, a team member. I feel that Steve also finally managed to see what kind of person Jim actually is. And Jim forgives Steve, that's for sure. I feel that they are good friends afterward.

I say that if Jim is the new king, Steve is one of his knights.

Arcane Order Eli has been on my mind for a few years. Eli is one of my favorite characters and has been since I joined the fandom sometime after season 2 aired; he's baby, yk? Bellroc and Skrael are sexy so full of potential that got crushed with the movie's release, which fuels my love for them. It's only natural I'd want to pair them up, which is challenging when Eli hasn't interacted with any of them in canon.

When it comes to Eli actually joining them, I've been stuck on what makes this twist of fate liable. The Arcane Order hates humanity, why would they accept this rando kid as one of them? Eli has probably the most sunny disposition of the cast, how on this green Earth would he get along with Bellroc and Skrael?

Now I'm at the point where I can post a concept that I agree with, though it surely needs some tweaks.

Eli's Side

• As we've seen at the ending of RotT, Toby isn't nearly as assertive against Steve's bullying and this continues for quite a bit even after becoming the Trollhunter. As a consequence, Steve doubles down on his bullying because no one has the nerve to humble him. Eli and Steve never become close enough to become the Creepslayerz and their relationship rots after they're paired together by Jim, who, missing the finer details of their friendship, assumes that they will become close eventually.

• Because they aren't friends, Eli doesn't bond with the Royals; he instead sees them as his bully's girlfriend/the girlfriend's brother, prompting him to keep them at arm's length for his own safety. Krel becomes the one to bond with Steve the most, though he vetos being called a Creepslayer lol.

• After being brought into the Guardians, his friendships don't seem to extend beyond talking at school. He obviously doesn't vibe with Steve, but Eli doesn't have a chance with the tight-knit Toby Trio. Douxie, Zoe, and Claire are the resident Wizards, and Eli obviously doesn't have magic(yet). Krel, being a tech genius, provides all the technological knowledge the group needs which makes his computer skills lackluster in comparison.

• Key events that previously led to Eli's discovery of the supernatural are disrupted; Jim already knows about Bular and the changelings using the museum, so there's no need to stake out Eli's house when he shows everyone the picture of the dead goblin. Toby can't keep a secret as cool as being able to form a suit of armor with a magical amulet (despite Jim's best effort lol) and manages to humble Steve sometime after Bular's defeat. Toby becomes Steve's go-to for reporting supernatural incidents, like the wild goblin in his garage. With no one believing him, Eli ultimately gives up on his conspiracy theories, instead opting for small self-improvement, like indulging in his love for scriptwriting or jogging at night.

• The supernatural worlds are gradually revealed to the public by Toby and Co., which leaves a bitter taste in Eli's mouth when he receives no credit for making his discoveries before them.

• All in all, Eli is left feeling unappreciated and isolated; Toby still entrusted a Troll Market key to him but Eli doesn't utilize it much and keeps his distance from their missions.

Arcane Order's Side

• Merlin, the only one aware of Jim's status as a time traveler, utilizes Jim's memories of the alternate universe to convince Morgana that she's on the wrong side of history so she deflects from the Order and kills her mind-broken brother to put him out of his misery. Whether time-travel shenanigans take place or not is in the air right now.

• Douxie levels up and KO's Bellroc and Skrael, the Guardians win, Merlin lives, the city remains under their protection, and the Arcane Order scurry away to plot for another 900 years...supposedly.

• Bellroc feels an odd connection to the town(actually the Heartstone below the town that they managed to briefly connect with in the movie) and risks their discovery to relocate their damaged ship behind the mountain and fix it up.

• Bellroc has generally been preoccupied with chasing Camelot around and has little time to indulge in hobbies; Skrael has slightly more freedom to chillax. As they hadn't quite written out the kinks in a wonky fixer-upper spell, Bellroc is drained after repairing the castle and comically tucks in for a week-long nap.

• Skrael takes it upon himself to explore their surroundings and perhaps find Nari in the town. Speaking of Nari, her magic signature is dulled with a device that Krel creates for her safety. Not even Merlin can track her while she wears the collar device so he decides that there's no need for her to flee while Douxie is around to keep his eye on her in the safety of Arcadia. Nari feels owned grateful for Merlin's wisdom and generosity and, while she has to keep a low profile and Merlin advises her against using her magic, she enjoys her time with the kiddos.

• The Arcane Order is now without a Champion and an Enforcer, while Nari shows no interest in returning to them; things 're tough for them at the moment.

• In hindsight, a mind-broken, undead king and a witch who worked for them on emotional impulse weren't the most ideal candidates to employ.

• What they really need is someone who's ready and willing to learn from them and fight for their cause with their own free will, but fat chance of that happening anytime soon lol.

Meeting

Their story starts after the battle between the Arcane Order and the Guardians of Arcadia, which happened around the same time as it happened in Wizards. Obviously, Eli doesn't become the ambassador of Akiridian-5 and only has surface-level knowledge of the events.

Eli finds Skrael entirely by accident while running in the forest, still habitually accustomed to staying up late working on his conspiracy board; when Skrael tries to leave, he grabs onto them and is teleported to the castle. This wakes Bellroc, who's a little peeved at being disturbed two days into their nap and is like "!!????"

Eli is not aware that they are the ones who caused a bunch of damage to the town recently. Seeing the majesty of their newly repaired castle is the tipping point Eli needs to finally geek out over something supernatural after restraining himself for months.

He fawns over the castle, strokes their egos a bit (which saves his life, because it's a smidge harder to kill someone who's being nice to them), and asks them if someone like him has any chance at learning magic.

Bellroc and Skrael are baffled at this twist of fate and while they certainly debate killing him, they drop it after Eli innocently tells them that he's a part-timer for the Guardians(and if they are lost wizards needing advice from the Great and All-Powerful Merlin then he can work something out blahblahblah).

Offing the guy would risk Merlin's suspicion and him striking them in a weakened state would be a major blow, like kicking a wasp's nest.

Sleepy Bellroc isn't really in their right mind but nonetheless has an idea and decides the best way to get rid of this human without homicide is by accepting his request to learn magic.

No, really.

Sleepy Bellroc plays along with his delusion of magical expertise and, after giving him a few dozen sheets that make up a single beginner's spell, makes him an offer: if he learns that spell within the week, less than five days at this point, entirely by himself, Bellroc will accept him as their apprentice. If he fails, however, he has to consent to a memory wipe of the past week and get lost. Eli accepts.

Skrael, in shock at Bellroc's supposed generosity, looks over this "beginner's spell" they gave to the boy. He quickly picks up on Bellroc's trickery and wishes Eli the best of luck before taking him back to the forest.

What Eli doesn't know is that the papers (translated to English for his convenience) are actually the directions for performing a combat spell that even young master wizards can have trouble with; about as far from the basics as a wizard can get. In other words, Eli will fail no matter how hard he tries and get his memory wiped and probably chucked off a small cliff to pass off his memory loss as an accident. Skrael can't wait to bear witness to the greatest prank ever.

Unfortunately, they severely underestimate Eli's reawakened enthusiasm for the supernatural and intense desire to belong in a group. Fueled on nothing but coffee, dreams, and that happy feeling of having passion for something new, he manages to awaken the magic inside him. Accident, or perhaps fate?

With a rough estimate from Douxie (who takes his secrecy at face value and innocently wants him to succeed) that a new spell on a beginner's level takes a few hours to around 3 days to learn, Eli manages to pull it off within 4 days, just hours before his deadline. All in all, Bellroc is pissed at his success but doesn't want to pull back on a promise. Skrael just thinks it's hysterical that Bellroc's trick completely backfired on them and is engaged in the progress of his companion's bizarre new apprentice.

Bellroc's method of "teaching", while unorthodox and not at all providing their desired result, has some basis in reality: not specifying to someone that a task is supposed to be "hard" can increase the likelihood that they can complete that task with little struggle. (Get Anyone To Do Anything! David J. Lieberman!) This doesn't work on everyone but it worked on Eli lol.

Dude...what I wouldn't give to see Eli living on Akiridion 5: going through his growth spurt, exploring the planet, making friends, learning about their technology. The process of him making the blueprints for a functional battle-ready Gun Robot Kaiju and I don't know man...moments where he misses Steve or wonders if he's even still a CreepSlayer :(

(gender neutral please?) polymorph reader that's insecure about what their true form is (since they can take the form of any human, they probably have some doubts about what form is their form y'know what I mean?) being comforted by ether the Janus order (Stricklander, Nomura, Otto, etc) or the wizards, or the creepslayerz. cuz I feel like there's already a lot of them that have the trollhunter squad be the ones comforting.

Learning you were a Creep was kind of life changing to be honest. Both of them weren't sure what to do at first. Eli and Steve felt a little betrayed but the thing is there are good and bad creeps and if you've been helping them for so long and using your powers for good than you must be a good creep and as a good creep It's there job to protect you. Plus your powers are awesome! You can change to look like anyone??? Even them!!!

After that you all become a lot closer as there's no secrets to hide any more. Eli asks a lot of questions about being a changeling and your abilities while Steve makes random observations that lead to giggling fits. Creep or not your a CreepSlayer and your stuck with them.

The CreepSlayerz are so so so so supportive of you. You decide to change the color of your hair or you shorten/ grow it out? Awesome. You have a bigger body shape one day and a thinner one the next so the outfit you like in your closet fits correctly or you want to look a bit thinner/fuller? Cool. You change your eye color? Your nose shape? Your mouth? They don't care and 1000% support you in what makes you comfortable. As long as your doing it for you and not others they love to see how you'll shift next.

Eli and Steve have quit the body dysmorphia problems as well and will do their best to help you work through any insecurities you have. They know being a polymorphus changeling must have been hard since their far and few inbetween and you used to be ordered to change into others all the time. The Order was a bad place with bad creeps who used you to do bad things. They think your so strong and brave and they'll make sure no one missuses your powers ever again.

Eli is a scrawny kid with glasses who's been teased all his life for his looks. He's never been asked out by anyone and is more of a loner at school but not by choice. If you ever need to talk about anything he's more than willing too. He gets it more than you know and will always be there for you.

Steve may be strong and handsome in the conventional way but he still feels he should look better and be more. He's compared to models on magazines and has had girls dump him for not looking a certain way. Everyone around him is constantly pushing him to be faster, bigger, better, stronger. It's a lot of pressure and sometimes being an athlete is really hard. He's not the best at expresing his emotions but if he finds out someone's been making you uncomfortable he'll make sure they leave you alone.

The boys love having fashion shows with you. Anything to hype you up and make you feel comfortable in your own skin. Sometimes it can be stressful being able to change at any time so to have people who love you in any form is very reassuring.

Watch Steve beatbox to hype you up while Eli tries to rap something nice about you. It's stupid and silly but it always makes you laugh and that's their goal. As your friend they want to make sure you only see what they see and they see an awesome person who's amazing inside and outside. Anyone who says any different is a buttsnack.

Eli has a ton of selfies of you doing Creepslayer stuff with him and Steve. During your bad days he'll show you his favorite pictures. There's an unconventional type of beauty in all of them no matter what form you take all three of you smiling and laughing is what makes Eli think the picture is beautiful and he'll remind you that your looks don't define you, your actions do.

It can be hard and some days are worse than others but they always have your back. After all Creepz for life!

Hard to tell... but Idare to say that my fav is 3Below, I love TH and Wizards, but I still remember Steve's screams and I still laugh, creepslayers are the best, I love them so much 😂 and we didn't get much of akiridion-5 but I love fantasizing about the concept, I would kill for there to be a concept artbook of the show.

For a movie that I had been anticipating for years and had the potential to be amazing, this movie was absolutely not it. It was like watching the Titanic sink in 5x speed and only being able to look on horrified.

It has to be said that the animation of the movie was absolutely stunning and this movie represents the hard work of so many people during the craziest years of recent history. So thank you.

That being said....WTF.

<<<<<SPOILERS>>>>>

From the start, the vibe of the movie was off. This movie was set-up to be the be all end all. The final moment. The stakes could never be higher. I was expecting to feel that the entire way through. Feel the intensity of the situation. I barely got that throughout the entire movie. Instead I got several unnecessary terrible comedic bits. Terrible in the fact that they were not well timed nor funny at all. I understand this movie is aimed at kids (though it should understand that it reaches a far broader audience) but even kids can understand when things are meant to be serious. They had blended serious moments with lighthearted ones before so skillfully which made this movie stick out like a sore thumb.

Second, this movie had the potential to be a movie in which all characters that we had been introduced to over the course of years played a major role in saving the universe. I have never been more disappointed in seeing so many characters be side lined.

The first part of the movie was absolutely a Jim pity party which drove me absolute bananas. He is a Trollhunter yes and the title describes his responsibilities. He protects good trolls and humans from bad trolls--he is not some sort of Jesus figure who has the sole responsibility of saving humanity! So them looking at him as their savior makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE. Making the entire fate of the world be dependent on whether or not he possesses the stupid amulet completely discounts the efforts, skills, blood, sweat and tears of everyone else! The previous series also brought forth the magic that it is people who save the day, not a single person. A hero is stronger with people by his side. This movie was supposed to be about everyone coming together and saving the world! The camaraderie! The community! The roll up your sleeves we have got some work to do pitch it however you can! Not everyone helps Jim save the world or boohoo Jim doesn’t have the amulet whatever are we going to do now? Jim had also already learned that he was a hero without the amulet! The amulet only magnifies what was already there. Why was that lesson so quickly unlearnt?!!!

Toby once again was used as mainly comic relief which was ridiculously frustrating. At the same time, he is exactly where he is not supposed to be. His compatriots are trolls and aliens who are so incredibly strong. Why is he trying to compete with them on strength (lifting those cannon balls) and failing and thus slowing everything down? He has brains. WHY DOES HE NOT USE THEM. Be the strategist. Engage in balanced combat not where you are clearly weaker! Also the fact that at the end, everyone forgot he existed until Jim called his name is really pathetic. This is your friend. Care about his well being all of the time and not just when he is on the verge of death.

Claire has grown so much over the course of the franchise. Her magical abilities that she has developed have also gotten so much stronger. However, you see her magical abilities get constantly exhausted rendering her useless while they are down. She barely has any meaningful dialogue or impactful solo scenes where she is in charge. Every other line is “JIM”. As one of the two female characters in the gang, it was frustrating to not see her kick more major ass. The ass she did kick she kicked brilliantly.

Steve. Steve. STEVE. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I was expecting something better after Wizards! Wizards you see him almost become a threat but not because he is being used again for comedic relief and never given a proper weapon. I had hopes that he would be someone that would be taken seriously in the fight to save the world. I got the complete opposite. It was him getting pregnant after a mere kiss that signaled to me that they were not going to treat the supporting characters seriously. Steve had been with them from the start and had grown so much as a character and YOU NEVER GOT TO SEE IT. I would take him going into battle with a baseball bat and a skateboard helmet over him being pregnant!!! It was another instance where whatever comedy that would normally be seen in that instance was missing because the stakes were too high and the comedy thus becomes inappropriate.

Eli also got sidelined which bugged the shit out of me because again he was part of the original gang!

Krel barely had a role. Barely. Aja only a little more. Le sigh.

Douxie never got the respect he deserved either. He was the only reason the Arcane Wizards did not come together in the beginning. He got tortured before they got Nari. His magic saved their asses so many times. His magic and friendship broke the control that the titan had over Nari and was the only reason the Ice Wizard was defeated. He lost the last link he had to his home and his oldest friend (Archie). Yet, he also lives in the shadow of Jim.

Blinky and Aargh were the only two consistently enjoyable characters throughout the movie by far.

The “Ninth Configuration” altogether really ticked me off. This had never ever been mentioned before. Which means they wrote it specifically for this movie which also means they had all the freedom to change it. NINE? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? THERE ARE MORE THAN NINE. THE ELEVENTH CONFIGURATION AT THE VERY LEAST! STEVE AND ELI ARE IMPORTANT TOO.

Where is Nana? Where is the community of Arcadia helping to defeat the Titans? Why were they never informed? They lived through aliens and trolls and ancient soldiers, they are well versed in the weird. They should have had an active role in saving their home and thus the world.

The world building was also incredibly strange. Yes, it was cool to see other places and other languages but why not pick places that are themselves hidden? Arcadia is not exactly on the map and nor should anywhere else of importance. Hong Kong is not hidden and also just makes no sense. The location of the entrance to the Troll Market is also the opposite of accessible. There is more time in Hong Kong then there is in any other place besides Arcadia and why? Also why not tell the Troll Dragon why you need the Kronisfere? I am sure he is also invested in not see humanity (and likely all other forms of life including Troll Dragons) wiped from the planet. He does not even need to give the artifact to them, he can lend it to them temporarily and then have it given back.

The number of unnecessary deaths in this movie blew my mind. There were so very many. Strickler is one of the main ones that comes to mind. I have no love for his character but he made Jim’s mom happy. She was finally happy and doing something for herself after dedicating her life to raising her son. There was no reason to send him with the explosives (why tf were they turned on so prematurely in the first place). They could have gone back, dried their wings and come up with a plan B. Not only did he die, and Barbara’s new happiness with it, it all meant nothing because the wizard regenerated the Ice Titan. Barbara also faded from the rest of the movie and again I am like why. Archie and Charlemagne also didn’t need to die either. Toby didn’t need to die, they could have made it so that he miraculously survived that.

The ending made absolutely no sense whatsoever. They could have gone back just enough in time to save all of the lives that we taken (i.e. the start of the movie) or before the final battle to save Toby. Instead by going all the way backwards and rewriting the facts, they completely erased everything including character growth. It undid all of the struggles that they experienced. Having Toby be chosen as a Trollhunter initially also means that the amulet did not choose based on worthiness but right place right time which just seems off. It would have been better if Toby survived and Jim passed the amulet on that way being like you are worthy too.

This movie has a bitter taste to me. Because it is the end of an era and an end that ended wrong. I don’t think I will ever rewatch this movie. Thinking about this movie makes me frustrated beyond belief.

All the characters deserved better.
