Redesigned two of my ocs for the CMWR verse! Cold Vanilla Brew and Blueberry Jam!

These two are step siblings! But their team is not complete just yet! There's one guy I have to redesign still!

Small info on them:

Cold Vanilla Brew: He/They pronouns, demiboy, bisexual. On his mid 30's. A fashion designer. Very strict and has high expectations for others, and is very known due to his work as well. Despite his cold personality and sharp looks, he's a very caring individual and very kind as well. He wants people to keep on trying and makes sure that they improve as well. His patience is infinite despite all odds. Blueberry Jam is his step brother.

Blueberry Jam: Any pronouns but mainly he/she, genderqueer, pan arospec. On her late 20's. An very passionate almost close to be forensic scientist, due to her starting a bit late. He's energetic and considerate, and takes details with a lot of consideration in mind. Blueberry Jam always carries around a butter knife with them in case something happens. Thinks about to moving back with Cold Vanilla Brew once he finishes his studies... however she found someone that is currently staying with him. Her interest is peak on this individual.

They're very close to eachother despite all of their struggles.

I see a lot of people talking about the Angel SA scene, so hey, I'll comment on it too.

I'm a gay man. I'm a former SW (prostitute, at that). I'm hypersexual (was already before SW), I use sex as both a coping mechanism and a way to selfharm. Badly abused, etc etc. Dw about me, I don't need pity or anything, and I'm in therapy.

I love Angel. I saw a lot of myself in him. funnily enough all my friends/acquaintances who know HH also compare me to him lol. I loved the addict clip and the way it handled showing SA. It was subtle, and it focused mostly on the aftermath of SA. It didn't feel fetish-y.

The whiplash I got yesterday when I saw the leaks was _hard_. Not just because I relate to him, it would have been bad with any character. The way it focuses on the SA while sexualizing Angel, without present-Angel showing signs of being emotional. It's bad. It's really fucking bad. Addict was good because it was not explicit. Poison is cringe at best, bad at middle, triggering at worse.

Just my thoughts about it.

(on a side note i now don't want to buy merch anymore so hey at least that's good)

If Poison resonates with people, that's fine, but Viv's fandom needs to accept that not everyone does, and that they're allowed to be disapproving, even disgusted.

There's still a haunt on the hill...

In my previous post, I dug through the ghostly chain of adaptations of Shirley Jackson's "The Haunting of Hill House" starting by its various movie incarnations. But I am not done...

Because in 2018, Mike Flanagan released on Netflix his massively successful television series, "The Haunting of Hill House".

Flanagan's television series was strongly influenced by "The Shining", another major haunting-story of the 20th century, first marking American literature under the pen of Stephen King...

... Then marking American cinema by the movie adaptation of Stanley Kubrick.

Mike Flanagan never hid his passion and love for "The Shining", both the Kubrick and King versions, and it is for this reason he was the man behind the 2019 movie "Doctor Sleep"....

... an adaptation of Stephen King's sequel-novel to The Shining.

And fascinatingly, a lot of details and ideas of Flanagan's "The Haunting of Hill House" (or its sister-series, "The Haunting of Bly Manor") were reused for his Doctor Sleep movie...

But, speaking of Stephen King, did you know he made his own "The Haunting of Hill House"? Well, almost... He and Steven Spielberg worked on a project in the 1990s: a remake of The Haunting/a new movie adaptation of "The Haunting of Hill House". Unfortunately this movie never came to the light of day, as the two men split apart due to creative differences...

However this did not stop Stephen King from reusing the unused/unfinished script/concept for his "Haunting of Hill House" adaptation, throwing in a lot of elements from his own "The Shining", with several nods to the real-life Winchester Mansion, and tadaa! The result was 2002's mini-series "Rose-Red".

Stephen King has very often praised Jackson's novel. In fact, in his eyes it is one of the two greatest ghost stories of American literature... Alongside Henry James' The Turn of the Screw.

Do you recall Henry James? Sure you do! From the previous post... He wrote the "Ghostly Rental" story, that itself got adapted in 1999 into a horror movie called "The Haunting of Hell House" - confusing Jackson's "Hill House" with Matheson's "Hell House".

Do the links stop here? NOT AT ALL! Flanagan's "The Haunting of Hill House" was supposed to be the first season of an anthology series about ghost stories. This project got cancelled, but not before a sister-series to "The Haunting of Hill House" was made... a second season called "The Haunting of Bly Manor", which is a loose adaptation of "The Turn of the Screw".

AND THERE'S MORE! Because you see, before being re-adapted by Mike Flanagan, "The Turn of the Screw"'s most famous adaptation was a 1961 movie called "The Innocents". A movie which also became a classic of black-and-white haunted house horror movies, just like "The Haunting" that was released two years afterward... Film critics, cinema theoricians and movie enjoyers all agree that the two movies have to be compared, with something of a sibling relationship to each other.

"The Turn of the Screw" - and more specifically the 1961's "The Innocents" movie - also had a huge influence on one of the greatest Spanish moviemakers of the 21st century: Guillermo del Toro. In fact, it was to pay homage to both the classic of Gothic that was "The Innocents", and the behemoth of the traditional horror that was Kubrick's The Shining, that he decided to create his own Gothic horror movie... The wonderfully horrifying "Crimson Peak", released in 2015.

And not only does Crimson Peak unites The Turn of the Screw with The Shining (Guillermo also invoked the influence of other massive horror movies, such as The Omen or The Exorcist) - but this movie also is the final union, the ultimate blooming of Jackson and James' works. Because del Toro's original intention for this movie was to pay homage to the "two grand dames" of the haunted house movies... 1961's The Innocents, and 1963's The Haunting. The two ghostly tragedies finally united in one Gothic movie...

Well... To be fair, the uniting of "The Haunting of Hill House" and of "The Turn of the Screw" had already happened long before del Toro's Crimson Peak, but with a much less famous and successful movie: 1971's Let's Scare Jessica to Death... A cult piece (despite its lukewarm reception), it was created with only one goal in mind: recreating a psychological horror story with ambiguous implications, in the style of James' The Turn of the Screw, and Robert Wise's The Haunting.

Fumiko remembered that name for sure. Saving him from potentially being claimed by the Desolation, and bringing him in to heal in Classic Order territory. She remembered the kindness in his heart. Then, after hearing the horrifying story of what had happened to him, it broke her heart into a million pieces.

Of all the desolating events that has happened because of RSP-3812, Fumiko needed to put that to an end, and so did the Classic Order.

To save the world from the monstrous entity he has become and Shido himself as well, she must do it by any means necessary. But, this was a being beyond most comprehension. It was quite possibly a suicide mission of her own to get this mission done, but she replaced such a thought with bravery.

Just bravery.

"This is General Rose of the Classic Order." the voice of a young woman spoke over a Classic Order communications device. "I need to know the whereabouts of Fumiko Arai."

"[Major Tom]: Fumiko.. Fumiko needs some alone time. She's fought against the majority of the Desolation's threats in the past already. She's probably in her mansion taking it easy."

"[Colonel Eddy]: Alone time is right. She's going into RSP-3812-1 all by herself."

"[Major Tom]: WHAT?! NO! WE NEED TO STOP HER! SHE'S GOING TO GET HERSELF KILLED!"

"[General Rose]: You're right. Colonel Eddy, follow her into RSP-3812-1. I'm calling in Champion Lightstrike into the danger zone as well. Please, stay safe. No one is ready to take on RSP-3812. We can only hope, for him to return as we keep up the fight."

Him, as in the Indomitable One. The Indomitable One was not the type to save those in need, but for his mission of vengeance. Currently, the ascendant being was fighting off Xeth's forces in another plane of existence. A battle between the Indomitable One and RSP-3812 was very unlikely, so all the Classic Order, ex-Desolation forces and the Champions of the world can do is fight.. and pray.

PETAL SPRINT.

Fumiko kept sprinting without tiring thanks to her ability, until she reached the boundary point, looking over what looks to be Tenguu City. She learnt about this city in her earlier years, but never actually ventured into it.. this was the place, to end it all.

Just inside of the boundary, she took out a white notepad with a pen to match its fine color, and proceeded to write on it.

"[written text]: Shido-san, it's Fumiko. I have arrived to save you from the horrors of what has happened to you. I feel so bad for you, that's why I'm gonna save you. Please, stay strong. <3"

The heart in her notepad glowed a bright white. She ripped out the paper from the notepad and placed it down on the grassy terrain, before she sprinted off into the city..
