1984 dallas grand prix

where the insanity included (but was not limited to):

nigel mansell took his first ever pole position

it was the first front row lock out for the lotus team since the 1978 dutch grand prix

they really thought it was a good idea to hold a grand prix in texas in the summer so the race air temp was 104°F (40°C)

basically everyone retired due to this (8 cars finished out of 26)

jacques laffite turned up in his pyjamas in protest at a practice session starting at the ungodly hour of 7.45am

the track literally disintegrated due to cars in a support race being too heavy for the asphalt (it was still being resurfaced 30 minutes before the race)

rene arnoux qualified 4th, dropped to the back of the field at the start and somehow recovered to finish 2nd

rookie ayrton senna crashed and claimed it was because the barrier had moved 5mm from the lap before (citation needed, ayrton)

nigel mansell’s gearbox failed on the last lap so he tried to push his car over the line

he then fainted from heat exhaustion

for some reason sue-ellen from the tv show dallas handed out the trophies on the podium

race winner keke rosberg called nigel the f out live on the podium for blocking him during the race

it was the first and last race held in dallas

Max Verstappen x Brother Reader

You couldn't believe your luck when Max Verstappen called you up and told you he was finally able to come see you play hockey in the US. As a professional F1 driver, Max's schedule was always packed, but he managed to carve out a little time for you.

You were playing for a team in Dallas, and Max flew in for a game against your biggest rivals. You were nervous at first, knowing that Max was in the stands watching you, but as soon as the puck dropped, you were in the zone.

You played your heart out, scoring two goals and assisting on another. The crowd went wild, and you felt a surge of pride knowing that Max was watching you play at your best.

After the game, Max came down to the locker room to congratulate you. You were sweaty and exhausted, but you couldn't help but feel elated as Max hugged you tightly.

"You were amazing out there," he said, beaming with pride.

You couldn't stop grinning as you and Max left the arena, hand in hand. It was a surreal experience, walking around Dallas with one of the most famous F1 drivers in the world.

As the US Grand Prix approached, Max had to leave to prepare for the race. You wished him luck and watched from home as he dominated the track, securing a podium finish.

Even though Max's schedule was hectic, you cherished the time you spent with him in Dallas. It was a moment you would never forget, and you felt grateful to have such an incredible partner who supported you in everything you did.

Okay i was reading Nigel Mansell's autobiography and:

"It was a strange decision to hold the Dallas Grand Prix in july, because the temperature was well over 100 degrees fahrenheit. The track surface melted under the heat and after two days of running Grand Prix cars around it, the surface began to break up. To prevent any more damage, the race day warm-up session was held at the crack of dawn, before the sun got really hot. It was so early that Jacques Laffite turned up in his pyjamas!"

‘The Dog Knight’

Frankie Jude Bryant is a nonbinary middle school student who is dealing with identity, the usual academic challenges and, oh yes, trying to become the Dog Knight, a champion for humans and canines. Despite the presence of magical talking pooches, this journey of heroism and self-discovery feels grounded thanks to captions that get into the head of Frankie, who prefers they/them pronouns. On the first page, they think, “Do you ever feel like you don’t make sense?” Later, Frankie muses about their frenemy Dallas, who misgenders them: “She gets it wrong on purpose just to make a big deal about correcting it.” And when Frankie finds their tribe, “For the first time in a long time, I look in the mirror and I don’t feel a pain in the pit of my stomach.” Written by Jeremy Whitley, drawn by Bre Indigo and colored by Melissa Capriglione.

‘Marry Me a Little: A Graphic Memoir’

The cartoonist Rob Kirby chronicles his 2013 march down the aisle in Minnesota with his longtime partner, John Capecci. The story highlights where gay marriage stood at the time (each state was making its own rules before same-sex unions became the law of the land in 2015) and looks back at Jack Baker and Michael McConnell, who somehow were able to obtain a marriage license in Minneapolis in 1971. The personal recollections are powerful and honest: Rob remembers when he first casually used the word “husband,” which felt like “a small but genuine political act.” He also acknowledges the white, middle-class privilege that allowed him ambivalence about getting married. His ultimate conclusion: “Marriage does not define a relationship. Unless you want it to.”

‘Gatsby’

The messages of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby” — about social status, love and chasing dreams — are revisited in the present with a racially and sexually diverse set of characters in their 20s. Gatsby is a Black tech millionaire looking for a love who got away, and Lu Zhao, the stand-in for Nick Carraway, is visiting from Singapore and summering on Long Island (where a $5,000-plus afternoon shopping spree highlights the casual wealth). The main characters are refreshingly blasé about their sexuality: Lu’s girlfriend, Alexis, asks, “How do you identify?” But Lu’s answer does not really matter as Alexis says, “I love being on this journey with you. I’m here for you no matter what.” Written by Jeremy Holt, drawn by Felipe Cunha and colored by Dearbhla Kelly. 

‘Hex Americana’

The cartoonist Bree Wolf spins a tale about auto racing, teen romance, monsters and ghosts. Flesh-and-blood Ken forms an unlikely alliance with Dante, who died in a previous race and haunts his car as a ghost. A successful partnership will allow Ken to compete in the annual Grand Prix and help Dante move on to the afterlife. The more than 300-page story packs in a lot of character growth, action, flashbacks and drama. The relationship between Ken and Karen, his mother, is particularly nuanced. Karen is supportive of her son, who is gay, but she struggles with how to correct her overbearing friend James when he makes thoughtless jokes about Ken. (Iron Circus Comics. Aug. 30.)

‘Death Drop: Drag Assassin’

The Gayborhood, as it is called in this five-part series, has seen better days. Thugs feel empowered to assault young gay men, and a drag queen named Lunaira has gone missing from the club Posterior Delusions. Residents have little faith in the local police. Enter Death Drop, a former hit man and current drag queen, who is pushed by Mother Henny, the hostess of the club, to find Lunaira. “She’s a queen of color who has been missing for more than two days,” Mother Henny says. “You do the math.” It helps that Death Drop and Mother Henny used to date. Let the investigation begin. Written by David Hazan and drawn and colored by Alex Moore. (Scout Comics. June 14.)

‘Turtle Bread’

Kim-Joy, a British baker and cookbook writer, teams up with the artist Alti Firmansyah for this story about Yan, who is struggling with low self-esteem and social anxiety. When Yan finds a local baking club, she is plagued by doubts about whether she will fit in or be liked, but she soon learns that everyone struggles in different ways. Yan eventually becomes confident enough to rally the club members to seek out and support one of their fellow bakers who needs it. Yan would qualify as an ally, but there are characters with significant roles in the story who are gay and lesbian. And there are recipes, including one that gives this story its title. (Comixology Originals. Available now.)

In my own opinion; this does feels like an obvious and a clear sighting of a rainbow appears in the islands of Hawaii after a long plus a sad additionally a dark and even a miserable heavy rain to pretty much wash away the pain where it does truly rains in Oahu as perhaps it had heard the news of Logan getting snubbed by James by having to put the weight of blame and shame on Logan when he didn't do anything wrong thus . . . by the time when Allisha won the Athletes Unlimited Hoops Championship in their 3rd Season then this is where I knew she wanted to dedicated it to her Floridan-Hawaii transplant merman on her win.

A quattro anni è stata adottata da Elaine e Charles DePrince, una coppia del New Jersey che ha undici figlie e figli, nove dei quali sono adottati. Si è quindi trasferita negli Stati Uniti e preso il nome di Michaela DePrince.

Ha sempre desiderato danzare e lo ha fatto sempre con tenacia e determinazione.

Grazie al suo grande talento, ha ricevuto una borsa di studio per la Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School of Ballet dell’American Ballet Theatre per la sua performance al Youth America Grand Prix.

La discriminazione è continuata anche negli USA, le insegnanti le dicevano che l’America non è pronta per una ballerina nera e sconsigliavano ai genitori di investire denaro per la sua carriera.

Ma lei ha ostinatamente rincorso il suo più grande sogno riuscendo a intraprendere una brillante carriera professionale.

Il grande pubblico ha conosciuto la sua storia perché, nel 2011 è stata tra i protagonisti del documentario First Position, che ha seguito sei giovani ballerini e ballerine in lizza per un posto in una compagnia o scuola di danza d’élite. Si è poi esibita nello show televisivo Dancing with the Stars.

Nel 2012, si è diplomata ed è entrata nel Dance Theatre di Harlem.

L’anno successivo è entrata a far parte della junior company dell’Het Nationale Ballet di  Amsterdam, la più importante compagnia dei Paesi Bassi.

Nel 2014 è entrata a far parte, da allieva al Dutch National Ballet, l’unica di origine africana, dopo due anni era ballerina solista.

Nel 2016 si è esibita nella sequenza Hope del concept album Lemonade della pop star Beyoncé.

Ha scritto, insieme a sua madre, un libro autobiografico dal titolo Taking Flight: From War Orphan to Star Ballerina che diventerà un film diretto da Madonna.

La sua è la storia di una bambina che ha patito l’orrore della guerra, la fame, la discriminazione perché considerata diversa, in Sierra Leone come negli Stati Uniti. Ha seguito con tenacia il suo sogno che l’ha portata a calcare i palcoscenici di mezzo mondo e a essere considerata una delle più importanti danzatrici del momento.

Reigning world champion team Red Bull used the "free" weekend between the British and the Hungarian Grands Prix to conquer the streets of Madrid to showcase two of their previous title-winning F1 machines. Sergio Perez was behind the wheel of the RB7 and RB8, driving around several of Madrid's famous landmarks. Running two of Sebastian Vettel's championship winning cars, the showrun ended with the Mexican pulling out donuts in front of the famous Cibeles Fountain, as over 85,000 fans attended the event. Madrid is the fifth city in which Perez drove previous Red Bull cars in a showun. In 2021, he burnt rubber in the streets of Mexico City while last year saw the Mexican drive in his hometown of Guadalajara. He’s also taken to the tarmac of Milton Keynes, home to Red Bull and Dallas, Texas. Commenting on his day, Perez said: “It was amazing to see the crowd here today and how passionate the people of Madrid are about Oracle Red Bull Racing and Formula One. People are super happy to see us, we are the only team who can make events like this possible, only Red Bull can shut down the busiest streets of Spain’s capital city on a Saturday night! Not many people know but Madrid is a second home to me, the vibe here is very unique and special, although I am not at home, I really feel like I am here. "This was such a fun evening and now I am looking forward to being back behind the wheel of the RB19 to get my season back on track, I want to get back to winning and score as many points as possible before the summer break, we have some important races coming up.” Alongside the showrun completed by Perez, fans had the opportunity to enjoy an exhibition from Elias Hountondji, a member of the Red Bull Driftbrothers, and Cristina Gutiérrez, the 2021 World Rally Cross Raids champion and the first woman to achieve a victory in the Dakar Rally since Jutta Kleinschmidt. Madrid has served as the first location of the F1 Exhibition which opend its doors back in March. Although the exhibition was set to close in mid-July, it has been extended until 20 August. The Spanish capital has also expressed its will to stage a Formula One race in the near future. Currently, the Spanish Grand Prix takes place in Barcelona with the contract running until 2026. Jose Vicente de los Mozos, President of Madrid’s event committee, has recently stated that he knows "when the agreement for the arrival of F1 in Madrid is going to be signed." Eurovision 2023, chi è l’italiana Alessandra Mele

Alessandra Mele nasce il 5 settembre del 2002 a Pietra Ligure, in provincia di Savona, da padre italiano e mamma norvegese. Trascorre la sua infanzia a Cisano sul Neva per poi trasferirsi in Norvegia. Sin da piccola il suo sogno è stato cantare come ha raccontato in alcune interviste. Inizia da bambina a prendere lezioni di canto e pianoforte, partecipando anche ad alcuni concorsi canori in Italia. Ma il successo arriva quasi per caso in Norvegia. Lo scorso anno decide infatti di partecipare alla versione locale di The Voice e parallelamente inizia gli studi al Lillehammer Institute of Music Production. A gennaio vince il Melodi Grand Prix, una sorta di Festival di Sanremo norvegese, votata sia dal pubblico che dalla giuria. Grazie a questa vittoria, è scelta per rappresentare la Norvegia all’Eurovision 2023.
