Ik I'm not the only one who lived that i just. Wanna share. It's. Horrible having to tone down your identity at the start because everyone around you has to "get used to it".

I came out and i already knew i wanted to be a he/they called Elijah because I had been thinking about this for very long. But i forced myself to lie to my now ex bf and family because they almost themselves chose they would call me Eli.

Which is a diminutive of my deadname.

I know now that most people that meet me will call me Eli as a diminutive of Elijah. But i can never get that sting out of it.

It's been 4 years. It'll be 5 this august. I still get called by my deadname even tho it's legally not mine anymore and has been for 6 months. I still get called she and her. My deadname is so prevalent my boyfriend. Who's only ever known me as Elijah. Knows it. Because it's literally everywhere in my home. And my mom gets pissy if i take down stuff that has it written on it.

Anyways shout out to Elijah Kamski cuz i named myself after him because uhhhh dbh is kinda mid but that man is still v fucking impressive for what he did.

people who do stuff like this (your family, not you) make me so mad. from the sounds of it, you quite literally have legally changed your name and they still refuse to call you it. that’s so stupid, and i’m so so sorry that you can’t be seen as you by your family. i really hope you can get out of there and find people who support you.

what are a few of your favorite headcanons for your Spider-Man DBH Au?

OOOO where do I even begin? Thank you for the ask!!

First one that comes to mind is in regards to Sixty. While his name is Conrad in the AU, some people still call him Sixty. This is because I HC that when he was in university and able to drink without Hank getting on his ass about it, he attended a frat party for the beer. He only managed to get through 6 cans before passing out drunk. The people who were there started calling him Sixer, but as they kept using it, the name slowly turned into Sixty.

Having said that, Sixty is kind of a campus legend now because people think he drank 60 cans of beer (which is just straight up impossible but y'know how myths are-- they're unbelievably silly like that).

Along the same vein of RKbros HCs, Connor and Sixty shared a bunk bed until they moved out for university. Hank never got around to remodeling their room after they left, so Nines sometimes goes in there when he misses his brothers and sleeps on one of the bunks with Sumo (can't leave Sumo out of this AU).

I'd like to think Gavin keeps a framed picture of Spider-Man in his bedroom that he cut out of a newspaper. Only Tina knows about it (she probably climbed into his room in the middle of the night to ask him if he wanted to go out somewhere and she saw it). He doesn't want anyone to know how much he looks up to Spidey, and it would take him a lot of courage to admit any of that to Nines.

(And then when he finds out that Nines is Spider-Man, he'd probably work twice as hard to keep his fanboy status a secret because there's no way in hell he's gonna admit he was obsessed with his boyfriend before he was even his boyfriend.)

aaand last HC I can think of rn that I really like is in regards to the other RKbros (Reed-Kamski). Nothing huge really. I just really enjoy the thought of them having matching necklaces from when they were little kids and were still on speaking terms. Thin, silver chains with some sort of small pendant/charm on them. Gavin keeps it tucked under his shirt while Elijah wears his like a bracelet (he had it modified). Gavin is never close enough to him to see him wearing it, and Eli can never see it on Gav because it's under his clothes, so neither of them know the other wears it every day to remember each other.

Finally wrote another Chaos Gods fic like I said I would! @oatmealoatmealoatmealoatmealoatm and @azorith wanted to see it!

— Five Year Anniversary party prep! The ship is Elijah Kamski (dbh) / me, it got really popular on my blog and it’s still a bit of a guilty pleasure for me to write occasionally!

“Look, I know it’s supposed to be a party. How many decorations do you possibly need?” Eli looks up at me from the floor, arms crossed.

“It’s a party, you said it! If it’s gonna be the holiday party and our five-year anniversary, of course I’m gonna decorate.” I look down from my perch on the ladder, shaking tinsel off a tree branch down onto him. He waves his hands, trying to shake it off, unsuccessfully. He groans in disgust, making his way over to the couch in the lounge where he curls up like a disgruntled cat. He pulls his knees up to his chin, looking at his phone. I smile to myself, he still has some glitter caught in his hair. I turn back to my decorations, feeling awfully proud of myself for finally convincing him to let me get and decorate such a big tree. He called it gaudy and unnecessary, and I called him a grinch. Maybe if he didn’t want me to get such a big tree, he shouldn’t have had a two-floor open plan lounge.

The tree’s the last piece of decoration I had, and I step back to admire my work. The whole lounge and dining area is lit warmly with strings of glass bulbs and baubles, turning the whole ceiling into a shining, glimmering spectacle. Ornaments hang in strings along the walls, and an old record player I found plays some soft carols. The tree itself sits proudly in a corner, gifts piled underneath.

“Oh, Eli, come on. It looks so warm and cozy in here, it’s.. nice.” I wander over to the couch where he’s sat, taking a sip from his mug of hot chocolate and placing it back onto the little reindeer coaster. “It’s so festive, it’s so homely!” I lean over the back of the couch, pulling him into a small hug. “I saved the star on the tree for you, I’ll hold the ladder.”

Eli tilts his head back, looking at me. “You’re the only person I know who gets this excited about the holidays, you know that?”

“Oh, bull. The Chloes do, too.”

“Only because you taught them.”

“That still counts!”

He sighs, rolling his eyes. “So you saved the star on top for me?”

“I did,” I hum, smiling. “I wanted you to be included, even though I know you don’t like all the cheer and joy of the season.” I poke him, laughing.

“Hey, come on! I’m not that much of a stick in the mud!” He pushes me away a bit, also laughing. “Fine, I’ll put the star up.” He leans forward out of my arms, standing up. He wanders around a little, looking at all the work that me and the Chloes did. “All right, I admit it does look nice.” He looks up at the tree. “I’m still surprised you fit that thing in here.”

“I had to take the back sliding door off its track,” I admit.

“What?”

“I didn’t wanna break the glass! I put it back on, and it’s finally oiled properly so it doesn’t squeal anymore!”

Eli puts a hand over his eyes, sighing. “And is that how you’ll take it back out?”

“Probably. Why?”

“Nothing. You’re nothing if not committed, I’ll admit that.”

I smile. “Thank you. Now come on, get up there and star that tree.” I hand him the box that holds the star.

He rolls his eyes, opening it up. He pauses, looking at it.

“Do you like it?”

“I.. do, I do like it.” He pulls it out, it’s a simple star, crafted the way he stars important passages in his notes. It’s not much, but it’s one of the few times his personality shows through in his work.

“I think it’ll look nice up there.”

“I do, too.” He glances at me, a soft, genuine smile on his face. He heads to the ladder, pausing as I follow and hold onto the rungs, steadying it for him. He tucks the box under one arm, making his way up. He gets to the top, balancing the box and pulling out the star, carefully winding it onto the top of the tree. He pauses, admiring his work, then heads back down.

I nod. “Perfect.”

He nods as well. “It does look nice in here, I’m sorry for saying otherwise.”

I laugh, pulling him into a hug. “It’s okay, I get it. I can tell when you like things, I’ve seen you watching me all day. I know the holidays aren’t your favourite, but I’m glad you don’t mind letting me decorate.”

“As long as I get to spend the time with you, I’m as happy as can be.”

“Hope that holds true for the party.”

“God. How many people are we inviting?”

“Aallll of your other CEO friends, and their other important friends. Gotta keep up positive publicity!”

“God, just kill me now.”

“But you have such a good face with the public! You’re such a kind and generous man, beloved by all!”

He scoffs. “And then we mock them all behind their backs.”

“Come on, some of them deserve it for dressing the way they do. You remember Lestrade last year?”

“The fucking bright purple and orange suit?”

“And the green one on Easter.”

“Ugh, don’t remind me.”

The soft tune brought a serene smile to Connor's lips, and he relaxed into the listening experience. The vocals tickled him in a pleasant way, appealing to his senses--he felt like singing along, but refrained to avoid disturbing the other two. Leo, who had googled the cover, had a little smirk, arms crossed as he observed the androids. Eli--

Eli suddenly smacked the table, next to the laptop, startling Connor (and Leo, a smidge, although Leo seemed more concerned about his laptop).

"Oh, come on! Get the good stuff on already! Surely there's more to that cover than... than this slumbering wailing!" Eli groaned.

"I think it's a beautiful performance," Connor voiced his opinion in earnest.

Eli stared at him. "You CAN'T be real."

"I'm very real," Connor maintained.

"Fuck! What a boring pussy you are!"

"Markus would beg to differ," Connor replied, which cause Leo to laugh immaturely.

Eli turned to him instead. "Tell me you don't see any quality to this."

Leo shrugged. "I think it's funny. I agree that it's too calm--"

"Too calm?" Connor repeated. "But NIN's version as well as the one by Johnny Cash are calm too."

"No," both Leo and Eli denied at once. They exchanged looks, trying to figure out who should talk first.

"It's not the same kind of calm," Leo said.

"Yeah, they're an expression of agony. This," Eli gestured at the YouTube video, "is agony! Oh, I hate it so much. It pisses me off!"

He made to grab the screen but Leo interfered. "Hey, hey! Gentle with my stuff!"

"I don't understand. I find it soothing," Connor blankly said while Leo stopped the music before Eli might commit murder.

"You have no musical taste, Connor, and you have lost all my respect," Eli stated meaningfully. "Now I'll do the polite thing and leave, and I'll rinse my auditory processor with a 10h playlist of something proper."

"Oh, if you want something to wake you up, I've got something--" Leo started but Connor stopped him, shaking his head.

"I don't think he'll want to listen to 10h of Caramelldansen, Leo."

Leo sighed in recognition and they watched as Eli dramatically strode out the door. Connor chuckled softly and elbowed Leo. "His loss. I'll listen to 10h of Caramelldansen with you."

Leo grinned widely. "And that's why you are my best robot friend."

24. favorite fic you read this year

oh this. this is so difficult to answer. there were so many amazing fics I read this year trying to just choose one is impossible. so I'll pick two!

there were so many great fics I read, but the two that first pop in my head are

maggot tongue by birdfeet - I've recommended this before, but eli has such a mastery over crimeboys and their characterization, all of their fics are godsends if you're a crimeboys fan. maggot tongue has such an interesting story with great imagery and a fun twist at the end, and it's just really well done, so go check it out if you haven't

unlikely events by Nymphii - although this hasn't updated in a while, I love this fic so so much. the characterization, the things nymph adds to the dbh plot to make the story more cohesive and better paced as a whole, tommy's thought process and the way they write wilbur entirely—it's just so fucking good. do yourself a favor and read it. you don't need to know anything about dbh to get into it. it's also masterfully paced.
