autumn seemed to be the season of birthday celebrations: firstly was jolie's, then max's and now charles'. he had called yesterday, around dinner time, to ask you if you wanted to come to his birthday gathering. it was supposed to be a simple lunch with his childhood friends, who you knew from years ago, and he wanted you to be there. so now you stood in front of his apartment door with a cake you had baked the night before, following the recipe he had once told you it was his favorite.
"hurry up, you idiot". you whispered underneath your breath, feeling the weight of your purse threatening to fall from your left shoulder anytime soon.
charles opened the door a couple of seconds later. from his rosy cheeks, his damp hair and the fresh smell of gel you could tell he had recently gotten out of the shower. he wore a soft beige sweater and wide dark trousers. he had always been attractive, but god he looked good. his sincere smile widened and his green eyes lit up when he saw the cake you were holding.
"no way! you baked this for me?".
"of course, i didn't want to come empty-handed".
"you're the best, y/n". he said as he extended his hands to grab the cake. "let me help you".
you followed charles inside the apartment. quickly you noticed how tidy everything was. charles had never been a messy person, but it was obvious he had made sure everything was perfect today. he went inside the kitchen and he carefully placed the cake on the counter. afterwards, he had opened his arms to give you the warmest hug.
"thank you y/n".
"it's nothing". you replied. "happy birthday charles".

while you waited for your friends to arrive, you looked at charles who gracefully played a song on the piano. you sat by his side watching how his fingers pressed the right keys without a single mistake.
"i don't remember this part". he said before stopping and quickly glanced at you.
"right, i'll show you".
clair de lune was the first proper song you had taught charles to play on the piano. one night during lockdown you had been re-watching twilight together and when you said how much you loved this song he suggested that you could teach it to him. charles was a fast learner and a hard-worker, the kind of pupil every teacher wishes they had. and you were patient and tender, the kind of teacher every pupil adored. most days, after he had finished his training, you would sit with him and teach him another part. some days, when he got tired of learning, he would sneak his hands underneath your shirt and with a soft kiss on your shoulder he would suggest that maybe it was time to do something different. and sometimes, when you watched him play, you would lean your head on his shoulder and wait for him to stop playing just to place his lips on yours.
"i think i might need you to start teaching me again". he said once you finished playing debussy's song.
"i will gladly do it for some karting classes in exchange".
"are you still that bad at it?".
"absolutely terrible. my sister beat my ass the other day". you replied and he chuckled.
"it's a deal then". he said. "but i still won't let you win if we compete against each other".
"oh, you were the worst. i remember the last time we went karting and i felt so humiliated. what kind of boyfriend does that to his girlfriend? you should've let me win".
"was i really?". he said. "i'm pretty sure the first thing told me when we were alone was-".
"oh, shut up". you interrupted him and he laughed loudly.
"what was it? baby, that was so hot-?". he said mocking your voice and you hit his arm softly.
"you're an idiot".
"i am, but you adore it".
i do. your cheeks hurt from smiling widely and now you could feel the blood rushing into them. charles was starring at you, his smile had faded away and his eyes dropped from yours to your red lips. your heartbeat was so loud you thought he could hear it. he placed his right hand on your chin and his face slowly came closer to yours. but sound of the doorbell made you him freeze in place.
"fuck". he swore under his breath as he quickly dropped his hand.
he sighed and nervously ran his fingers trough his hair while starring at you. when the doorbell rang for the second time, he stood up and left the living room, leaving you alone with your thoughts. shit, max. the questions in your head were so loud you almost couldn't listen the voices of your friends in the background.
"y/n is here". you heard charles say.
"god, i hope we weren't interrupting anything". a familiar female voice replied.
"don't worry, you weren't". charles lied. "please, come in".
the sound of giggles caught your attention. was that a baby? and before you could figure out who was it, your old friend lily fleury walked into the room. a few seconds later, her husband marc appared holding their baby in his arms.
"oh my god". you said the moment you saw her face.
"you didn't tell her?". lily asked charles and he shook his head.
"it was a surprise".
lily and marc had been living in barcelona for the last four years. marc, who was born in spain, got a job opportunity there and they decided to leave monaco. lily had been one of your closest friends when you were younger and you kept in contact even though you haven't seen each other since they left.
"i haven't seen you since forever". lily said as she gave you a hug.
"what are you guys doing here? are you visiting your family?". you asked.
"no, actually we moving back". marc explained. "barcelona is great, but, you know, we want nora to grow up here in monaco".
"i thought you knew everything, charles has been trying for days to gather all of us since we told him we were moving, i thought he told you". lily commented.
"i just thought it would be a nice surprise". charles said.

the night had arrived and it was time to leave. your heart felt full after spending the day with your old friends. lily and marc were getting nora ready to leave as charles held you tightly in his arms as you said your goodbyes.
"thank you, y/n". he said. "for being here today".
"honestly, it's me who should be thanking you". you replied. "i feel like you're helping me build the life i had here in monaco before i left".
"you don't need to thank me". he responded and left the softest kiss on your forehead. "i want you to feel at home once again, so you don't run away anymore".
"you don't have to worry, i'm here to stay".
"good, because i'm not letting you go once again".

re8 as classical music
badly explained cause its 2am and i dont know musical terms.
Btw if anyone has any notes or other songs that would fit them id love to see it-
Ethan: Tchaikovsky - Marche Slave
youtube
Slow start, Ethan is unknowingly ensnared in a trap. As he realizes the danger Rose (and himself) are in the song becomes tragic and determined. Fastpaced strings, frantic beats —like prey escaping from predator— keeps escalating into something more and more insurmountable. A hopeful jingle is heard as Ethan finds out he can still save his daughter. A heroic theme plays as he overcomes the horrors despite it all (a sense of control over the situation is marked by highpitched anxious flutes superimposed by a deep stable horn). Then comes the first faceoff with Miranda who taunts him and Ethan’s tragic hero theme comes to a grinding halt as his heart gets pulled out of his chest. The drums pick up again and the little soldier is off to his final battle.
Mia: Claude Debussy - Clair De Lune
youtube
Sadly the real Mia doesn’t appear much. In the Winters home, Ethan writes that Mia doesn’t want to talk about what they went through in Louisiana, which leaves him with a lot of questions unanswered. In the flashback where she desperately tries reaching out saying ‘𝘺𝘰𝘶 matter’, she still can’t help keeping secrets- maybe out of fear that Ethan wouldn’t let it go (being extremely persistent) and they’d never return to normal. The song is heartbreaking and sad as she struggles coming to terms with the guilt and grief over what she’s done and what the one she loves went through because of it. On a last somber note, her child, who takes after her father both in looks and unresolved powers, is all she has left.
Rose: Saint-Saëns - Le Cygne
youtube
A little girl whos only ever known unconditional, all encompassing love. Even before her birth, it was known that her life would be full of uncertainty. Though stolen away for possessing powers she’s not even aware of yet, she continues to live and provide a beacon of hope for her family.
Chris: Richard Wagner - Ride of the Valkyries
youtube
Comes in the dead of night and rains hell on the Winters home. In his eyes, he’s doing the right thing, but has made himself the villain to the one he was trying to protect (victorious trumpets superimposed by high fearful strings). The transport gets intercepted by Miranda and the music falls. Once Chris finally explains himself to Ethan they’re allowed a brief bit of victory (steadier horn) as their combined efforts take down Miranda’s last line of defense (Heisenberg). In the end, Chris has to live with the victory of taking down the megamycete, the guilt and grief over Ethan’s death/sacrifice, and the troubling news from BSAA. A tainted victory.
Alcina: Tchaikovsky - Swan Lake
youtube
Appears first as a noble elegant socialite. She’s at the height of her power, owns a castle and three daughters and believes herself to be Miranda’s favorite. It’s business as usual, calm serene music. Suddenly an outsider has made his way into her home, killing her daughters one by one. She reaches out to Miranda, who only cares about the stupid ceremony, and realizes everything she knew was a lie. Anger and frustration builds. The music deepens, falls and rises again as she transforms, tries taking revenge on Ethan and fails, having lost everything in one evening.
Bela, Cassandra, Daniela: Rimsky Korsakov - Flight of the Bumblebee
youtube
Self explanatory. Hurried, manic and playful.
Donna: Tchaikovsky - Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy
youtube
Entrancing but with eerie insidious undertones. Fitting for the childlike dollmaker and her little porcelain friends. Ends with a fast and chilling theme for the twisted game of hide and seek
Moreau: Edvard Grieg - Hall of the Mountain King
youtube
Quiet, lumbering and slow. Ethan takes the Rose flask back easily; threatened with losing Mother Miranda it very quickly escalates as panic sets in and Moreau throws everything he has at him. The music swells and ends with a bang.
Karl: Aram Khachaturian - Masquerade Suite
youtube
A bold start. Right from the beginning he exudes arrogance, charisma and danger. He plays nice in front of Miranda with a waltz that picks up in intensity when putting Ethan through his first gauntlet. Then the tone gets deeper and quieter for a moment, as he plots in secret; it’s finally time to set his plan in action. It’s a race to the finish line as Ethan tears through the other lords, unknowingly playing right into Miranda’s plan. Realizing he could be a particularly useful asset/ally, Heisenberg puts him through the second gauntlet. The music is sadistically playful as he tests his will and endurance. Upon failing to recruit Ethan, the music picks up for the third gauntlet and ends with a bang, as Karl dies at the hands of Miranda.
Duke: Georges Bizet - Votre Toast
youtube
A friendly face unfitting in a place such as this. The upbeat and energetic theme sticks out like a sore thumb among the others. Whimsy and grandiosity acts as a brilliant facade for his enigmatic true nature. Though the jolly merchant schtick may be a lie, he always delivers on service.
Miranda: Sergei Prokofiev - Dance of the Knights
https://youtu.be/bBsKplb2E6Q?si=jnSpMO-bIhEcjJzb
Immediately imposes a sense of authority and dread. The dark theme plays over and over as she performs the same cruel experiments expecting different results, though it only succeeds in remowing her further from humanity. She imagines a world of pure bliss in acquiring her child, which at this point is as illusory as chasing the holy grail since she’s never satisfied. When she hears of Rose she schemes her way into the Winters home, elated to find the perfect vessel after a century of searching. She steals the child away, leaving behind a trail of destruction that finally catches up to her.

Ive been thinking recently about what music the squad would like, and i think ive finally got it. Its totally self indulgent and mainly favorite musical artists but idk i think it fits them, so take a favorite artist and hc for each of em
Basil- Cavetown. No denying it he ADORES cavetown and im not taking disagreements (tried to do a casual cover of Green and had to stop because he cried)
Sunny- i know its cliche but Bo En really does fit him. (*that* whole thing is because he listened to Bo En piano versions and crap to sleep once when mari had a sleepover without him and he was scared.)
Mari- Either DeBussy or like Girl in Red i think. (Covered Claire De Lune once and sings We Fell In Love In October to Hero a lot)
Hero- MITSKI AND RICKY MONTGOMERY NO QUESTIONS ASKED THEY ARE HIS JAM (He hums a lot of their songs to Mari’s grave when he visits.)
Kel- Wallows (he absolutely adores Scrawny and will call himself a “scrawny mf with a cool hair style” at any given opportunity)
Aubrey- Penelope Scott (has a playlist of her music that she often puts on and scream cries along with)

What are some of your favorite poems, Captain? (Besides o captain my captain ofc) <3
Anon,
What a wonderful question! I'd be delighted to share a few of my favorites with you all.
To start, my all time favorite is titled "Clair de lune" (translates to "Moonlight") by Paul Verlaine, written in 1896. Those with a keen eye may recognise the title from Claude Debussy's song of the same title, which was a piece inspired by the poem. The original work is in French, but I will provide an English translation by Chris Routledge.
Moonlight
Your soul is a select landscape
Where charming masqueraders and bergamaskers go
Playing the lute and dancing and almost
Sad beneath their fantastic disguises.
All sing in a minor key
Of victorious love and the opportune life,
They do not seem to believe in their happiness
And their song mingles with the moonlight,
With the still moonlight, sad and beautiful,
That sets the birds dreaming in the trees
And the fountains sobbing in ecstasy,
The tall slender fountains among marble statues.
Paul Verlaine, 1869
Another one of my favorites, also by Uncle Walt, is called "O Living Always, Always Dying" from his poetry collection titled Leaves of Grass. Leaves of Grass was published in 1855, but he continuously edited and reworked it until he passed in 1892.
O Living Always, Always Dying
O LIVING always, always dying!
O the burials of me past and present,
O me while I stride ahead, material, visible, imperious as ever;
O me, what I was for years, now dead, (I lament not, I am content;)
O to disengage myself from those corpses of me, which I turn and look at where I cast them,
To pass on, (O living! always living!) and leave the corpses behind.
Walt Whitman, 1855
The last one I'll share is titled "Love Lives Beyond the Tomb" by John Clare. I only found this poem very recently, so unfortunately I don't know when it was published.
Love Lives Beyond the Tomb
Love lives beyond
The tomb, the earth, which fades like dew—
I love the fond,
The faithful, and the true
Love lives in sleep,
'Tis happiness of healthy dreams
Eve’s dews may weep,
But love delightful seems.
'Tis seen in flowers,
And in the even's pearly dew
On earth's green hours,
And in the heaven's eternal blue.
‘Tis heard in spring
When light and sunbeams, warm and kind,
On angels’ wing
Bring love and music to the wind.
And where is voice,
So young, so beautiful and sweet
As nature’s choice,
Where Spring and lovers meet?
Love lives beyond
The tomb, the earth, the flowers, and dew.
I love the fond,
The faithful, young and true.
John Clare
Another one of my favorite poems was written (or verbalised I suppose?) by a student of mine. Neither he nor I got the chance to write it down, and I most definitely do not have permission to share it. No sleep lost over it, sometimes the best poems are the ones you only hear once! Thank you very much for the question.
Best,
John Keating

Would you mind if I asked for any classical recs. I started listening to Bartok and something clicked (also because I like hearing you talk 🗣️ )
- Penalanon
Aaahhh omg penalanon hiiii!! 🥺 so glad you liked Bartók! That's on such the deep end of classical honestly so I'm rly so glad to hear you like his work! Alright sry in advance if any of these are basic bcs im not sure what you've listened to before. But here you go, in no particular order
1812 Overture - Tchaikovsky
Okay hear me out ik this is pretty basic but I love this recording so so much, I listen to it constantly. Tho it's especially fun to listen to when I'm drawing something Napoleonic, it's very fitting
Marche Slave - Tchaikovsky
Another Tchaikovsky piece! I just really like this one :)
Piano Concerto No.2 - Rachmaninoff
Most beautiful piano concerto of all time?? Perhaps. I just love this one, and the story behind it is very sweet to me(Rachmaninoff was very depressed but his therapist helped him get back to composing, and he dedicated this piece to him)
Rite of Spring - Stravinsky
If you liked Bartók, you'll definitely like Stravinsky!!
Firebird - Stravinsky
Also must link this hilarious vid that I always think of every time I listen to this piece
Gayaneh - Khachaturian
My fav ballet EVERRRR. Okay bear with me, I know it's two and a half hours long, but I listen to it constantly
The Planets Suite - Holst
You've prob heard these before but ahhhh one of my favorite pieces, it never gets old. They are all so unique, and I love how you can tell how much they inspired modern film scores like Star Wars
La Follia - Vivaldi
My fav Vivaldi piece other than Four Seasons(not linnking it here bcs I think most people have def heard it, but go listen to it again ofc dklaskjl.) But man Vivaldi always goes off so hard
String Quartet No.8 - Shostakovich
I linked this in my prev music reccs but I'm not sure if you listened to it so I will again!!
Symphony No.5 - Shostakovich
I love Shostakvich so much waahhhhh, his life makes me sad :( But he's one of the reasons I got more into classical music!
Symphony No.7 - Shostakovich
The story behind this one is so sad to me :( It was a song of resistance for the people of Leningrad while they were being seiged in WWII. Also I love how the conducter in this vid literally looks exactly like young Shostakovich
Battle on The Ice - Prokofiev
such a sick piece
Dance of the Knights - Prokofiev
Symphony No.2 - Weill
I randomly heard this at a classical concert, and I've been in love with it every since!
Masquerade Suite - Khachaturian
Gnossienne No.1-6 - Satie
I can't link all of them so just start with the one I linked!!
New World Symphony - Dvorjak
I love the fourth movement especially, there's parts that sound like Jaws and Star Wars
Danse Macabre - Saint-Saëns
The Swan - Saint-Saëns
This song is what I imagine falling in love feels like. It always makes me teary eyed. Also Vienna has stars like the hollywood stars in some subway station, and I took pics of both Saint-Saëns and Debussy when I saw them, and two people I was with had no idea who they were SOBBB
Raindrop Prelude - Chopin
Arabesque - Debussy
I'd recc Clair de Lune but I'm sure you've heard it, so here is another Debussy piece :)
Miserere mei, Deus - Allegri
IDK I LIKE CHOIR MUSIC BE QUIET
Lacrimosa - Mozart
You've def heard this before but GOD it makes me cry every time, soooooo iconic
Funeral March (Orchestral Version) - Mendelssohn
There's such a cool video of this as an actual march but it's for Thatcher's funeral ugh, so here's the orchestral version too

Could you do Saimatsu from DRV3 for the headcanon song game? Thanks <3
Oh Saimatsu my beloved!! Honestly, I have had so much brainrot about them recently, so I am very excited for this ask. 🥰 Thank you so much for this ask, Anon-Friend, and for playing my song + headcanon game! 💕
I'm going to put my answer below the cut because DRV3 Spoilers!
First of all, I love Saimatsu! There is something just so wholesome and sincere about the ship (even if it was ultimately such a tragic pairing). I've already posted about "the most Saimatsu song in the universe" (in my opinion lol) which is a piano cover of "When I Fall In Love" blended with "Clair De Lune" (YouTube Link; Spotify Link), so I'll pick another song for this game (and one with actual lyrics this time 😅).
Currently my favorite song for Shuichi and Kaede is "I Hear A Symphony" by Cody Fry. It's such a beautiful song even without the added shipping context, and I absolutely love how it slowly introduces more instruments as the singer falls deeper and deeper in love (illustrating that "symphony" that he now hears because of his beloved). I will be the first to admit, however, that I do often think about Saimatsu (or occasionally another ship from a different fandom) whenever I listen to it because I think it really does speak to how Shuichi feels about Kaede and their relationship in both a literal sense (in that, as a passionate pianist, she really introduced him to a love of music and actual, literal symphonies) and a figurative one (in that she really opened up his whole world and his love for her gave him in this real sense of purpose throughout the game, even after she was gone). I especially love the final line: "I used to hear a simple song--that was until you came along. You took my broken melody and now I hear a symphony."
I Hear a Symphony - YouTube
For a related headcanon, I'll write 2: a non-despair AU/Danganronpa S fluffy headcanon and a post-game angst one (since I'm not sure which you'd prefer):
The Fluffy Headcanon They Deserve:
In a non-despair AU or Danganronpa S universe, Kaede offers to teach Shuichi how to play a few simple melodies on the piano because he always shows such an interest in it and watches her practice. Shuichi tries his best to learn one of Kaede's favorite songs (that's easy enough for a beginner like him to play) and secretly practices very hard so that he can play it for her for her birthday leaving Kaede so touched by his thoughtful gesture. After he finishes playing, Shuichi finally confesses that it's not really the piano he loves--he loves watching her play and her infectious passion for music. It's the first time he tells her he loves her.
The Angst Equivalent:
After surviving DRV3 and while trying to reacclimate to life in the real world, Shuichi eventually decides to take piano lessons. It becomes a coping mechanism for him since he finds that playing piano helps him feel closer to the Kaede he knew and loved in the game and helps him keep her memory alive. He stopped taking lessons as soon as he was advanced enough to play Debussy's "Clair De Lune," and when he Kaede most, he will play that piece over and over, hoping that somehow the music will reach her.

I KNOW I KNOW I KEEP MAKING REALLY LONG COMMUNITY POSTS ASSIGNING CHARACTERS THINGS (BLAME THE BRAIN CHEMICALS) but I really like classical music and I also really like community if you couldn't already tell so here's classical music recommendations based on your favorite community character I SWEAR THIS IS THE LAST TIME (I don't)
ANNIE: Prelude to the Afternoon of a Fawn by Claude Debussy. yes I know it's about a goat man having wet dreams about Nymphs. ignore that for a second and focus on the flutes. they're so Annie. Just listen to it it's one of my favorites.
TROY: Mercury, the winged messenger, by Gustav Holst. Troy has the heart of a hero and all that, this song just kinda seems like if you took Troy's brain, blended it up, and attached that thing that translates plant sounds to it. it's goofy. it's troy.
CHANG: Mars, Bringer of War by Gustav Holst. (but listen to this specific version because in a lot of other versions I've heard they get the most important note wrong and it pisses me off). You know why.
ABED: Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture by Tchaikovsky, and I won't tell you why. you just have to listen to the whole thing (YES ALL 20 MINUTES. WITHOUT CHECKING THE COMMENTS) and see for yourself, and if you DO know the song and are still confused, just think about it for a second. really think.
SHIRLEY: Piano Concerto #2 in C minor, op 18 by Rachmaninoff, specifically the first movement. on the comments of one recording of it, a guy talks about how his son died 18 days after he was born, and he played him the second movement right before he went into surgery to "blur the lines between heaven and earth" and I think that speaks for itself. you just have to trust me, it's so Shirley
PIERCE: not technically classical, but Pagliacci act 1 "recitar!... Vesti la Giubba." you are Pagliacci. you fucking clown. I don't care if you like him, but he's your favorite? Vesti la giubba e la faccia infarina, bitch
THE DEAN: Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin. idk I just feel like it sounds the way all of his outfits look, especially "the duali-dean of man". the dean is so oboe coded I can't explain
FRANKIE: Claire De Lune by Claude Debussy. listen, Frankie's whole thing is being boring, that's her personality. and I love her for it. but boring character calls for boring song
ELROY: Liebestraum by Franz Liszt (which is actually my favorite classical piece). it just matches his energy, idk I can't explain just listen to it
BRITTA: Dies Irae by Giuseppe Verdi. this is what Britta's brain sounds like 25/8, my girl has so many thoughts and all are layered on top of one another and she's just smiling with her eyes unfocused trying not to collapse into herself
HICKEY: No. 13 Dance of the Knights by Prokofiev. he's so tuba coded. his villain arc in Geothermal Escapism? you have to understand it's so him
DUNCAN: oh you know. Entry of the Gladiators by Julius Fucik. I like him too, but this is what he sounds like every time he opens his mouth
JEFF: also Entry of the Gladiators for the same reason. absolute Jester of a man

do you have any classical music recommendations? especially for writing?
YOU SERIOUS???
BITCH I GOT YOU
If you want the dramatic stuff that gives a weird spark then these one would be great:
- Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven (This one has like 3 different moods to it)
- 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky (This one is quite loud, there’s literal cannons used in part of it. It’s supposed to picture a war so like…)
- O Fortuna by Carl Orff (Very loud. Brings a lot of terror)
- Lacrimosa by Mozart (This one is perfect for sadness/angst it’s a funeral song that was never finished bcs he died before he could)
- Danse Macabre by Camille Saint Saëns (A song about skeletons lmao)
- Waldstein Sonata by Beethoven (Very energetic)
- Fantaisie Impromptu by Chopin (Probably my favorite piano piece)
- Prelude in G minor by Rachmaninov (Kinda like this steady almost March thing)
- 1st movement of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart (Very famous. I’m only putting it here bcs it’s like elevator music to me lmao)
The more calm and just chill ones:
- The Swan by Camille Saint Saëns (This is from the collection Carnival of the Animals. I would check all of it out tbh. Oh and there’s a string version and Oboe version, I prefer Oboe)
- The Aquarium by Camille Saint Saëns (Another Carnival of the Animals. Very water-like)
- The Girl with Flaxen Hair by Debussy (I’m learning this one rn actually. Very chill)
- Clair De Lune (I’ve played this one as well. Is calm but has a slight energetic feel to it)
- Morning Mood by Grieg (Bro it’s so calming in a magical way Istg)
- The Blue Danube Waltz by Strauss (I wanna fling someone when listening to this idk why)
- Waltz in C# Minor by Chopin (I also can play this one, flows really smoothly)
I’ll also give you a list of my favorite composers cuz why not:
- Chopin
- Tchaikovsky
- Camille Saint-Saëns
- Bach (His music might be boring but I still love it lmao)

random fact: Aedus’s tastes in music are about what you might expect, for the most part. He likes smooth jazz, especially on in the background while he’s working on paperwork or something. A friend of his introduced him to “Lo-fi jazz” videos, and they’ve quickly become a fave. Wasn’t as much of a fan of it back in the day, when it first started hitting mainstream, just because it was very different than what he was used to. And he regrets that. He really wishes he would’ve given it more of a chance and bought some of the recordings back in the day, gone to hear some of the musicians playing it live when he had the chance...
He also is a huge fan of both opera and classical music. His absolute favorite songs of all time, that he could listen to, and does listen to frequently, are: Air on a G String by Bach, The Swan by Saint-Saëns (his top fave, if he’s being honest), Think of me from Phantom of the Opera, O Mio Babbino Caro, and occassionally, depending on his mood, the Night Queen’s Aria. Don’t be surprised at all if you visit his home and he’s playing one of the above. Anything Debussy is also a safe bet (he’s a sucker for the classic, Clair De Lune).
He also loves 1940′s era music. There was just something so... unique about Big Band that he misses. And he actually owns some of the original vinyl recordings of Glenn Miller. And has a very old record player he’s managed to, through careful work and spending much money on custom made parts, keep in pristine working condition. And, as nice as being able to stream music is, there’s something unrivaled about the scratch of the record as it plays, being able to set the needle down on vinyl and turn it on, etc. He would absolutely adore the chance to be able to dance with his S/O to Moonlight Serenade in his living room, listening to the song he heard so often back then, on a record player he bought in 1938. A beautiful melding of past and present, he thinks.
And then there’s something totally different, EDM. A younger friend of his played one of the songs for him a few years back. At first, Aedus wasn’t keen on it, but it’s slowly grown on him. this friend has moved on and moved away, lost contact in the big wide world, but Aedus still sometimes puts one of the songs on that he was shown, just as a nice way of reminiscing about the friendship. It’s very much a once in a while thing, though. It’s not normally his cup of tea.

Hi ! What's Beatrice Foster & Alice Cullen's favorite band/artist? do they have any songs that are 'their' songs?
Thank you for the ask @thesirenrealm!!! 💕
I have changed my faceclaim for Beatrice (which I have since yet to update her bio), and I’m thinking of making her related to the Denali coven (but, still apart of Alice’s human life), but I can still answer these questions.. 😊
Alice and Beatrice both really enjoy classical music, such as the classical piece ‘Clair de lune’ by Claude Debussy, and various other different artists and bands. Their favourites include; Fleetwood Mac. The Cranberries. Kate Bush. David Bowie. Florence + the Machine. Heart. The Bangles. Ladyhawke. The Amazing Devil, and The Pretenders.
The songs that they both consider ‘their songs’ are ‘Everywhere’ by Fleetwood, ‘Eternal Flame“‘ by The Bangles, ‘Alone’ by Heart, ‘You’ve Got the Love’ by Florence + the Machine, and ‘Linger’ by The Cranberries.

"Modern" Composers
I'm not sure why I started thinking of this, but I imagined some composers as teenagers together based off how I interpret their music and here is the result.
Beethoven: He's the emo kid. You just don't understand him or why he felt the need to make the 3rd movement of Moonlight Sonata that fast. It's art. You wouldn't get it. He's totally not a drama queen. It's just you.
Bach: Prankster. There's no other reason that he'd have 5 voices in fugue XXII when the average person only has two hands. Why, Johann? Why?? Answer - because he is a troll.
Chopin: The cool kid. (Might be my biases here) I feel like he'd be the one everyone admires. He's just effortlessly cool and laid-back, but then he can be really deep and emotional too without you expecting all that from him. You might not even realize how popular he is until you look closer. (I had no clue the famous funeral song was one of his pieces!)
Satie: Introvert. He likes it when it rains, doesn't talk a lot unless it's important, and loves wrapping up in blankets. He always comes close to seeming depressed, then you realize he's just naturally calm and reserved.
Mozart: Fancy. He goes golfing, enjoys fine-dining, and frequents the opera. His manners are impeccable and put royalty to shame.
Debussy: The daydreamer. He's lost in the clouds all throughout the class, but that world he transports himself to is pretty magical. He doesn't really need to ace the next final, though. He's going to compose "Clair De Lune" or "Reverie." Wouldn't you prefer he do that?
Tchaikovsky: Theater student. He's doing ballet, singing, and acting. It all comes incredibly naturally to him and he's the best one there. He just can't stop himself from turning something into a grand show, so he's normally the one to create plays too.
Coleridge-Taylor: The low-key cool one. No one really notices him at first, then he does something awesome and everyone's just wondering how it took them this long to pay him attention. (His music is great. I highly recommend checking out "Three-Fours.")
Grieg: Another low-key one, but you kind of notice him a bit more. He keeps trying to get your attention. You just always come in right after he's done something amazing. So, you know that a cool thing happened; you just don't know who did it. (I have heard "Morning Mood" and "In the Hall of the Mountain King" since I was an embryo and somehow didn't know who he was until a few years ago)
Liszt: Speed demon and track star. Why is Hungarian Rhapsody 19+ pages of speed and/or hand-breaking torture? Just when you think he's calming down (Oubliee No. 1), he reminds you of his fast ways and now you're pulled into it too. You hate how much you love hanging out because you're always sore the next week.
Strauss the 2nd: The loud one. He is very outgoing and likes to be the center of attention. It doesn't take much before he's been noticed by someone (probably by doing something dramatic). His inside voice is just whatever won't burst your eardrums, but you also do want to hear what he's got to say, so it's a fair trade.
Vivaldi: The seasonal buff (half-joking). He's a great academic. His music has a very serious yet delicate sound to it that I can see him taking a lot of pride in his studying (if he actually was a terrible student, I'm going to laugh). Not quite as fancy as Wolfgang, but also fancier than most of the others here.
Camille Saint-Saens: The guy who does one thing and will never let you forget it. (No offense to the rest of his pieces, but I think it's a fair assumption that the bulk of us know "Danse Macabre" and that's it.)
Please share your favorites if they're here! Sorry if I missed them. These are just the main ones I listen to.

"If my wife doesn't sing to me, or my bard doesn't play a tune, I enjoy Claude Debussy's Claire de lune."
blueberry: what was your favorite childhood food? do you still love it?

He thinks really hard about it, Alexander barely remembers much of his childhood. Let alone being human.
"I'm not sure, that part of my memory has long died. I can say when I was human I loved pears, and I still eat them frequently."

My favorite classical solo piano piece is "Clair de lune" by Claude "the pussy" Debussy. It might be a bit cliché or basic since it seems everyone and their dog likes it too. To its credit it is a very nice little song. For me, the almost palindromic nature of the song (its slow and soft start, and slow and soft end) and the rising and falling arpeggios really tick. But the real reason I truly love this song is almost entirely unrelated to the song itself.
I started playing roblox back in 2011 and had a string of accounts banned because I stole my mom's credit card and bought a ton of robux but I digress. I would play with my brother and a friend of ours who was a year older than me. When he moved off to Sacramento, he handed control of his personal account to me (an account that I continue to use to this day as my main account (no I won't tell you what it is unless I know you IRL)). Back in the day, the game felt a lot more building and creation orientated, at least at a different level compared to today (a discussion on the evolution of building styles from when I joined to today requires an essay unto itself). Enough so that many "showcase" type games would end up on the front page for quite a while. Showcases were essentially games that displayed a user's coding and building prowess. Many of the best programmers and builders would put a bunch of effort into these games as, essentially, a virtual 3D art piece. Get good enough ,and you might get recruited to help build a successful game, or even get hired by roblox themselves in some extremely rare cases.
One of my favorite builders was a user called "Asimo3089", who I will refer to now as Asimo. In 2013 Asimo published several showcases, often featuring a dull, grayer palette, soft lighting, ambience, and music. Back in the day, dynamic lighting was only a year old and the roblox music library was very limiting; you could only upload a couple minutes of audio and it was very expensive to do so. Some of Asimo's most impressive achievements, at least to me, was the creation of a MIDI-style music player using the roblox built in banjo sound effect. He used this in several of his showcases, but the one most pertinent to today's topic was a showcase called "Coastline Highway". This showcase featured a setting based off the PEI in Canada, with rotting buildings and ghostly trains and cars. A constant soft rain drizzled the landscape and a gentle fog blanketed the entire play area. The attention to detail truly impressed and surprised me in ways that I never even considered. Trees and bushes were made out of retextured cloud meshes; the waves lapping against the shore would cause ocean spray represented by smoke; a small airplane buzzed overhead, only noticeable to the most attentive of players; a piano played, by itself, in the room of an abandoned house.
Of the details that affected me most was the music that played when you joined the game: Clair de Lune played using the banjo MIDI player. Even with the chunkiness of the MIDI player, the effect was achieved. The hauntingly slow starts and ends really brought a melancholic nostalgia to a fictional place that only existed here, on roblox. The rolling arpeggios highlighted the rain and waves. The song only plays once and when it ends it leaves you in silence dominated by the soft raindrops and waves, broken occasionally by the passage of a ghostly car or train. The game profoundly affected my perception of showcases and my approach to building. I am, to this day, still trying to capture the feeling I felt exploring that game for the first time. Every time I hear Clair de Lune, I'm reminded, fondly, of this experience and the melancholic nostalgia that I felt then and now.
Showcase, for those interested (not sure if it still works, unfortunately):

Module 8 Assignment
For my module 8 assignment I have chosen an overall theme of songs that are ethereally euphoric. For my choices I have chosen sdp interlude by Travis Scott (Rap), Arc by Pretty Girl (electronic), Shake it Out by Florence + The Machine (Rock), Claire de Lune by Claude Debussy (Classical), Location by Playboi Carti (Rap), Let U Go by lucidbeatz (electronic). I chose the theme because it can loosely describe the general feel of what I listen to on a daily basis. sdp interlude is a short song by Travis Scott from his second studio album 'Birds in the Trap Sign McKnight', the piece is one of my favorite's from the album. The connecting point muscially is that most of the songs included here give you that sense of airiness, almost to the point you feel like you're floating. The euphoric high, and ethereal floatability, and sdp interlude may be the best example of that out of the whole playlist. Arc definitely plays more into the sense of euphoric overload, like taking too much molly, condensed into a little edm song. Shake it Out probably has the least ethereal feel to it but its grandness plays right into the euphoric vibe. Claire de Lune is a classic and who better than the father of musical impressionism to fit right into the ethereally euphoric playlist. Location lifts you off the ground from quite literally the opening and never puts you down, love that track from Carti. Let U Go might be second in tracks fitting the billing to a tee, the grandness and variations in dynamics create both the ethereal and euphoric sensibilities all throughout the track. These songs show their ethereal colors when they create dreamy, otherworldly atmospheres, that transport you to a mystical or spiritual place. Some elements that these tracks ultimately contribute to the ethereal sound: Reverb and delay effects: The use of reverb and delay can create a sense of spaciousness and depth, contributing to an otherworldly feel. Another example of a way in which these songs create an ethereal feel is also the specific selection of certain instruments. Instruments such as harps, chimes, and ethereal synthesizers can create a delicate, floating sound that contributes to an ethereal feel. The other half of this playlists soul is the euphoric sound and theme. These themes are shown in these songs through fast tempos that can create a sense of energy and excitement, making you feel uplifted. Another example is also the use of major chords. Major chords are generally associated with positive emotions, and can make a song feel uplifting and joyful. All in all these tracks use methods and examples from both of the themes I have described above and in doing so have tied themselves together in my ethereal euphoric playlist that I have created and outlined for musical theme assignment.
