How does Chara feel about seeing Flowey? And the realization that it’s Asriel. How do they feel knowing that their plan caused Asriel to become like this. A twisted mirror version of them that’s come to hate monsters where they hated humanity. How do they feel about it.

Guilt. So, so much guilt. From both of them, actually. Asriel idolizes Chara and being Flowey, he still thinks it was his fault that their plan failed (why'd he wimp out? He should've just killed those humans. Idiot). Chara thinks it's their fault for even doing said plan in the first place (foolish foolish foolish I've killed us both).

Now, when Chara woke up after Frisk fell down, it was after dying together with their brother. They likely felt Asriel die. Asriel likely felt Chara die. And suddenly they're reunited, both undead one way or another. And they didn't even know.

The pacifist route wasn't just an epic underground adventure -- It was terrifying to witness firsthand how these monsters were attempting to take Frisk's soul. But didn't they wish for this, like once they wished for Asriel? For monsters to kill humans? Point is, Chara already got these Complicated Feelings long before they even thought of Flowey being Asriel.

But at the same time, the pacifist route was also a healing journey. It was undeniable that they got through it together as a team. Chara felt like they redeemed themselves, somehow, by guiding Frisk who's hellbent in sparing every single monster that tried to kill them. They could find it in them to forgive humans. To give humanity a chance. And by extension -- themselves.

Yet what happened with Asriel can't be undone......... Sikeee. When they discover the truth in True Lab, Chara went through what I'd call the Emotion Tornado. Good ol' guilt is back, horror, denial,...relief, hope? By the time, Chara is already familiar with the 'monsters are now the twisted image of who I had wanted them to be' thing and have partly made peace with what had happened. And the last part's going around in the form of a golden flower.

#tl;dr Chara dealt with similar feelings when they go through underground chockful of monsters that wanted Frisk dead #so when they knew the truth the blow isn't as heavy. Soul-based magic (e.g. the original Vengeful Spirit, Howling Wraiths, and Desolate Dive) is a highly technical art that takes a lot of skill to bring it to its full potential. It's a very intricate practice, but advanced mages(?) like the Pale King can do incredible things with it. Ghost, however, having received very little formal training in it, only really knows the bare minimum required to cast their three spells (and to heal through Focusing their Soul).

Void-based magic (the Shade's versions of the three spells), meanwhile, is more like a blunt-force approach that uses its sheer power to mimic the things Soul spells can do. While Soul magic works with the universe to weave powerful spells within its laws, like carefully making its way through a complex maze, Void magic forces the universe to bend to its will, bulldozing through the walls of the maze to reach its desired end result.

Soul magic that has been infused with Void (e.g. Shade Soul, Abyss Shriek, and Descending Dark) create the most powerful spells possible, especially when used offensively. It combines the technical skill and potential of Soul magic with the pure power of Void magic, giving it the best of both worlds and making for a terrifying combo. There are very few who are able to take the powers of Soul and use it to cast magic, though, and even less who can survive being exposed to Void for any prolonged period of time. Ghost, Hollow, and the other vessels are probably the only ones capable of wielding such spells.

As a Shade/in their Void form, Ghost lacks the coordination and control required to manipulate Soul and cast spells with it, especially since it's not something they're made of themselves anymore. So, instead they're forced to use pure Void spells rather than their stronger infused ones. It's a lot more exhausting for them to do, since all the Void energy they're expelling comes directly from them, rather than using the excess Soul they've absorbed and stolen from other beings. So, unless they have an easy way to replenish their Void or something, Ghost can't usually cast as many Void spells in rapid succession compared to Soul or Infused Soul spells. (Like how the in-game Shade can only cast as many spells as the player has Soul containers)

One common Undertale misconception that really frustrates me is when Sans is portrayed with a strong innate sense for RESETs and alternative timelines. Like, that he remembers the RESET timelines better than the other characters who only have occasional feelings of deja vu or even that he can sense when a timeline is RESET.

And that’s, like, almost the opposite of the actual text of the game. While pretty much every main character can have slightly-different dialogue in a Not-True-RESET, especially if the Player had previously befriended them, based on the idea that they have lingering memories/feelings from before the RESET - 

Sans has no real dialogue changes based on this conceit. All of his changes are based around noticing Frisk has different reactions based on their memories of the precious timelines. 

Other characters do also make observations like that about Frisk, like Mettaton and Toriel. But Sans is distinctive because this is the only way his comments change between RESETs and there are a lot of them from him.

Because that is what really frustrates me about this misconception. People mention it as one more thing that makes Sans cool - but the actual truth is far more badass. Sans is one of the people in the Underground who remembers RESETs the least. I think memory-resistance to RESETs is probably tied to Determination. Flowey, the second-most Determined person in the Underground after Frisk, can remember everything perfectly.

Everyone else has some vague feelings and deja vus. And Sans, he’s the least motivated person in the Underground - both in the sense he’s lazy and in the sense he’s fucking depressed.

That probably means he has very little Determination. Thus, he doesn’t remember anything that happens between RESETs.

And yet, he is still the character most aware of them. Because he has the technological know-how to read and analyze timelines.

And because he has the observation and analytical skill to notice a RESET from other people’s reactions and behavior. Whatever it’s Papyrus thinking he recognizes someone or Frisk’s behavior implying that they know something they shouldn’t have. Sans main RESET-related skill is just being able to identify these moments and come to the correct conclusion about them. And with that he manages to be the most aware character in the entire Underground.

Like, the one point where it might seem like Sans remembers something from a previous Timeline is the Fake Spare scene during his boss battle. 

But it’s all pretend. Unlike the previous lines from other characters that I mentioned, this dialogue plays even if the Murder Route is the first time the player touched the game. Sans isn’t remembering anything in this scene. But he makes an educated guess that the Immoral Time God probably tried using their powers for good at first, so they were likely ‘friends’ in a previous timeline. And in most cases, his guess is right on the money - tricking many players into thinking this is another case of the game actually reacting to their past actions.

And as always, Sans can only tell if his lil’ trick worked or not based on the expression of the Player Character.

Arguably, Sans even uses his lack of Determination and cross-RESET memory to his advantage in his boss battle. After all, the whole point of this fight isn’t to kill the Player - Sans understands this is impossible. This is a war of attrition, trying to get the Player so frustrated and annoyed with the unfair fight that they just ragequit or RESET the Timeline. And this war of the Player’s patience versus Sans’ stamina and will is infinitely easier for him when he doesn’t actually perceive all the Player’s previous attempts against him.

Like, for the Player this might be the billion time they go up against him, they’re aware of some of his patterns and tricks now but they’re probably also frustrated and angry and exhausted. Meanwhile, from Sans’ POV, this is still the first time this is happening. He knows it’s not from the Player’s behavior and Frisk’s expression - but he doesn’t feel it like the Player does. 

He doesn’t feel the frustration and repetition of the endless stalemate. So he’s always as fresh as a daisy no matter how rugged the Player is getting.

And that’s part of why Sans is so cool in the first place, like, in general. He’s technically the weakest person in the Underground, lacking in every standard evaluation of power in the setting - no ATK, no DEF, no HP, no DETERMINATION. But he’s darn clever enough to overcome these weaknesses and even use them in ways that make them into strengths, enough to be one of the most dangerous and most aware guys in this whole setting.

Sans can’t remember anything, and that makes him awesome.

Deltarune Theory: Kris Came From Undertale...And From Chara’s Grave, Then From The True Lab...

this is a theory, that Kris may have came from Undertale...

and they might of been from the Queen Toriel Timeline.

the same timeline, where I believe that Frisk doesn’t end up going out of the underground, but ends up being captured by Alphys and taken back to the true lab and placed behind a very large glass, the same one that we believe is a mirror, but it is really a prison cell, and the Frisk we are controlling when we reload and enter the True Pacifist a.k.a the Anomaly Timeline...

after we get Alphys and Undyne together, we end up going to the lab...

and then taking the elevator to the true lab, but I don’t think we start at the True Lab in the True Pacifist/Anomaly Timeline, we end up being transported back to the Queen Toriel Timeline...

and in one of the rooms, we find what appears to be a very large mirror...

but really it has the Frisk we leave behind, who at this moment....

doesn’t have a soul, but the one who is outside of their prison, the Frisk from the True Pacifist a.k.a The Anomaly Timeline, does have a soul....

when we Reset or Reload, we possibly leave behind a Frisk...

and the red soul that is the Player’s Proxy-Soul, ends up going back by itself without the original Frisk it had used as a vessel.

it might be possible that Flowey wasn’t the only Vessel Experiment...

Alphys may have found out that Toriel had took the body of the first human to fall to the underground, and she went to the ruins and stole the body...

she then took it to the true lab, and injected the lifeless body with determination and possibly mixed with some of the dust essence of the late prince.

 the human child was brought back to life, and it could be possible they were able to get out before, by going in the hole that is below the DT Extractor.

the hole might lead to the dark world, a world between many Alternate Universes....

at some point the human child ends up finding a way out of the dark world, and ends up in deltarune, and they end up being found by the counterparts of Toriel, Asgore and Asriel.

and for some reason, the human child had become a toddler when they had entered the dark world and even stayed that way when they found a way out.

they also ended up being adopted by the dreemurr family of the deltarune timeline...

Chara may have been something like, how Dark Alessa was to Alessa Gillespie from Silent Hill....or like seemingly so.

I mean there is that whole message we get if we try to name the Fallen Human “Frisk”, so if that doesn’t tell ya something is wrong there....it might give some clues as to who Frisk really is.

what appears to be a red heart in the generator, might really be a soul.    

and it might be Prince Asriel’s Human Sibling’s Original Soul, before being secretly taken to the true lab and being used to power the underground...

mean while sometime after Toriel puts their adopted human child to rest in the ruins and perverse their body by using magic bandages that keeps the body from aging....here comes Alphys many years later, who ends up digging them up and taking them back to the true lab, without Toriel knowing it...

 she then ends up bringing the body of the child back to life, by not only injecting them with determination but also magic.

this resulted in the body of the once dead child, to brought back to life without a soul, so in other words they were a soulless and what appeared to be a soul in them, was a red line with no filling in the middle, so it was like a heart-shaped hole....

in theory, they may have ran away from the Queen Toriel Timeline...

like as soon as Alphys open the glass door to put Frisk (who is now soulless, and who we leave behind and go to another Frisk in the Anomaly Timeline.) into the prison aka the containment...

the revived fallen human rushes out, and goes for the elevator, and Alphys is not able to stop them in time....

during this time, the Other Frisk is heading to the true lab after hanging out with both the Good-Alphys & Undyne, but then the elevator starts to act funny and they end up being transported to the Queen Toriel Timeline’s True Lab.

and we end up being able to going back to the True Pacifist/Anomaly Timeline,

when we go through the other elevator and go to the room where the generator is....the Alphys in Deltarune, might be a version of Alphys that left Undertale in one of the timelines...

at the same time the Frisk from the Anomaly Timeline falls into the Queen Toriel Timeline that we the Player left behind....

the elevator that would of taken the revived human child, ends up falling back down to the true lab, but not of the one they came from...

they end up getting switched with the Frisk from the Anomaly Timeline...

as soon as they end up in the Anomaly Timeline, they end up finding where the DT Extractor is and jumping into the hole after they hear someone coming...

they end up falling into the dark world, end up turning into a baby, and end up leaving the dark world but end up in deltarune instead and ends up being found by the counterparts of their former family from Undertale.

Chara is the Soul & Kris Is The Body, They Are Cleaved Halves Of Each Other Yet To Be Made Whole....which is a theory.                                                          

the Alphys that end up kidnapping Frisk and keeping them from leaving the underground in the Queen Toriel Timeline, might be the Alphys from the Hard Mode Timeline, where the fallen human is named Frisk.

in the Anomaly Timeline also known as The Pacifist Timeline...

Alphys is 100% good, but in the Queen Toriel Timeline, she stop being good and has become possibly, really selfish, even if Undyne who is in the friend zone and others who know her haven’t really notice the really bad change to her...

the Alphys that left her world to go live in Deltarune, might match to the same goodness as the Alphys from the True Pacifist/Anomaly Timeline.

Kris might have some suppress memories of their time in their original world that is Undertale, and even what Alphys from the Queen Toriel Timeline, tried to do to them and tried to make them become a vessel...

which they did escape from that fate, if only temporary until the Player’s Red Proxy-Soul ends up being placed in their body.

over time, before the player came along, Kris may have been able to grow a new Artificial Soul, one that was thankfully made from the magic and determination that was injected into their body a very long time ago before coming to the Deltarune World.

when Frisk and Kris are switched, one going to the Queen Toriel Timeline and the other going to the True Pacifist/Anomaly Timeline, they are possibly Timeline Jumping...

a timeline jumping could also happen when we reload, which after doing the whole Queen Toriel Timeline Ending, we never really had to Reset, because Flowey never said to do so, only to Reload from our last Save, which would be outside of the room where we have to fight King Asgore, we can choose to go in, but then tell him we have to go back...

and when we do, is when the call from Undyne is finally triggered and we didn’t have to Reset in order for it to finally happen. O_O

the Queen Toriel Timeline is a Pacifist Route,

the True Pacifist Route Is a Anomaly Timeline, where even though the Monsters are free, it is still a Anomaly Timeline.

 I still don’t plan to Reset the Undertale Save In The Offline Account, that has a Mii-Frisk, the first name I started with was of course Frisk in that one, and then named them Chara...

the Monsters in that save have been free since December 30, 2022...

and if I think about it, when it becomes December 30, 2023...

it would be the Anniversary of the day the Monsters got their Freedom and were able to leave the underground.

even if they are video game characters, I don’t plan on taking that freedom away from them in that Save File, it is staying as it is...

Frisk is also living with Toriel, so it be fun to picture them getting things ready to celebrate the first anniversary of monster’s being free, and Flowey could of at some point started to live with them....

and Flowey could of grown a few inches taller in 2023 or 202X...

it be interesting if their voice started to crack, wouldn’t be surprise if Sans found a way to joke and pun about that.

Frisk could of gotten taller as well, and could of became 13 years old.

maybe I will do a drawing about that idea sometime...

Flowey could be 14 years old and technically being a year older than Frisk.

Flowey might of never really been able to grow-up, ya know flower-wise...

but thanks to there not being repeated resets and there only been one only, that had involved the hard mode timeline where the fallen human was named Frisk....

Flowey was able to grow older, both flora physically and mentally.

if Sans ended up becoming his and Frisk’s Step-Dad, and if Sans open up the door to Flowey’s bedroom, I think he would throw one of the items that is in his room right at Sans while screaming “SANS, GET OUT OF MY ROOM!”

before using one of his vines to slam the door in Sans’s face...

and when this happens, Sans hears music playing inside of Flowey’s room.

the song would be “Bring Me To Life” by Evanescence.

Sans, your dealing with a teenage flower....XD

that would be interesting, anyway besides that weird and interesting idea.

not everyone has to agree the theory that Kris may have came from Undertale, and they may be Chara’s Body.

while it could be possible, because the whole possibility travel between undertale and deltarune could be possibly true...

but it’s okay that not everyone believes this theory to be true.

it’s okay if it’s just me and maybe a few others, and plus it’s okay if the Deltarune Game end up debunking the theory that Kris came from Undertale and was Chara’s Body brought back to life.

and it would mean that Chara’s Soul would be in Undertale,

while Chara’s Body is in Deltarune and was given the new name “Kris”...

it’s a weird theory, but I’m going to view it as fan headcanon and will wait for the day it gets debunked by the full canon of the Deltarune game.

idk i don't expect any direct confirmation of them ever (as they are theories and the game is going on eight years old) but i also don't expect my mind to change on player theory+ narra-chara being primary ways i interpret undertale

Uh oh! Some BOZO decided to play UNDERTALE and UNDERTALE YELLOW at the same time (Both games FUN value was 66) and now the timeline is F*CKED (By about one year; It wasn't that long till Frisk came along)

This is the Guide to UNDERTALE ROM LEAK, mostly a frame of reference for me and you regarding this AU born from a doodle and a dream. Those who just want to see the art with no context, feel free to click the top pic and swipe down or something.

A Tale of 2.5 Souls

Seems like whatever the reason Frisk went to the mountain, they ended up tailing Clover, where the game begins. Control between the 2 fallen children is split, meaning that both Frisk and Clover are free to express their quirks and personalities more.

Adding to that, NarraChara is also here, being visible to Frisk, Clover, AND the player due to more determination in the area. Frisk still has higher DT than Clover, so they're in charge of LOADing and SAVEing as well as playing leader.

Prepare For Trouble, Make It Double!

Now obviously the timeline can't really be UT or UTY if all major events need to be dealt with. The universe's solution? Now every Major Character (and perhaps minor ones) are paired up with their cross game counterparts. While encounters for each monster can be seperate, eventually they will cross paths with eachother and the fallen humans.

With each section of the Underground now longer with even paired area newly connected (More on how that works later), it'd feel like even 2 player characters can't make it easy. Fortunately for a certain route, you may get some help...

Kanako

To fill a void for a Certain Short Scientist, seems fate pulled a few strings, and brought a new friend back from near-death! If you don't kill any monsters during RUINS, Kanako will sense your pure hearts and join the party, acting as the Ralsei to this Diet Fun Gang.

With healing and shield magic, she'll make your journey a lot more manageble, at the cost of not being able to kill any monsters all the way until Asgore (She will still allow you to spare monsters by lowering health but if she senses a chance to kill she will block the attack and scold you for it.)

Being a much more attentive protector than the Skeleton, she'll accompany Frisk and Clover through the emotional highs and lows of their journey, and perhaps maybe...

You'll find out the true reason she's helping you.

Stronger Monsters

For the characters of the 2 timelines being destined to meet, it is also true that destiny will point into blocking your path. For the Major Battles at least, you'll have to fight both of them at the end of each paired areas. An example being meeting North Star in Wild East only for Starlo's betrayal being calling Undyne to hunt you during Waterfall.

Expect combo attacks, fused soul modes, and complex strategies when facing the duel bosses. Some might even compromise Kanako from assisting. No fight has the same solution as the UT and UTY fights (except maybe Papyrus and Martlet), so be prepared and stay determined!

So have fun while you can, won't you? It's not likely you will get these games together again. You wouldn't waste this once-in-a-while experience just to do something you'll regret.
