I am convinced I’m just allergic to drawing malleus seriously. Whenever I try I end up erasing and restarting about 500 times and then I ragequit and start scribbling these silly creatures instead to calm myself down….

Human vs Fae War/Twst Timeline

Book 7 spoilers

This has been on my mind for awhile now. The twst timeline is very iffy, but specially when it comes to the human vs fae war.

From the lessons, we can assume that the war took place a long time ago, maybe hundreds of years ago. This is mostly extrapolating from the fact that Malleus says that there’s a picture of Lilia in the textbook and Lilia always talks about the war as if it was long past.

Though, I guess you could say that history textbooks cover modern times as well. But then that wouldn’t make sense either if you think about it.

If the human vs fae war was recently then I doubt the humans (in general, those who attend nrc, pedestrians, etc.) would treat the fae so kindly especially if the war was between Humans and Fae.

So, we can probably guess the war took place maybe a century ago? If not more??? Also lets not forget the fact that if the war was recent, I doubt Briar Valley would let their Prince attend NRC, especially since Malleus wants to get to know humans better.

We have also seen the diasomnia students mingle with others without issue. (Even sebek does despite his pride lol)

So this war could not have been recent. Then there’s the added fact of, when did Malleus’ parents die? Was it before, during, after??? The war? Could his parents’ death be the reason for the war? Like how Maleficients’ wings were cut in the live action? Killing his parents could have led to the war while Malleus was still in his egg.

But then we travel to Lilia’s dream in book 7, and since these dreams are supposed to be happy dreams (unless the whole altercation with Malleus somehow altered that?), it’s expected that whatever we see happening in Lilia’s dream should be one of his happiest moments.

Many speculate that this dream would be when Lilia finds Silver. But then I think about the timeline again, if this war was a long time ago, how can that be possible? Silver is human so it wouldn’t be possible for him to alive all this time.

Then I was hit with a couple ideas:

What if Lilia meets Silver’s ancestors and that’s how he gradually meet Silver and forms a connection with him. Maybe it was a human family that Lilia became close to and eventually something happened to them and Lilia took care of him.

But what if we got beyond that?

What if Silver isn’t human?

What if Silver has roots that we don’t know about? As we know, fae age slowly as we know with Lilia and Malleus.

But then we have Sebek, who is half human and fae, yet he’s almost the same age as Silver. If fae genes work the same way with Sebek, he would be younger than Silver despite the years that pass by because fae (even half fae) have a slower growth, but that is not the case. He and Silver are about the same age and so on.

(We could also say that Sebek grows like a regular human until a certain point and then his aging slows too.)

So I thought, what if Silver has fae roots in him? Maybe a changeling?

But then I look at Lilia and I look at Silver and I can’t help but wonder.

Could the curse (?) that Silver has (the constant sleeping) somehow be slowing his aging? Maybe that’s why they lived in a cabin away from other humans so Silver couldn’t tell the passage of time? And only a few people would know about it, such as malleus, the queen, etc.

But what if instead of the curse, it was Lilia using his magic powers through the years to combat the curse? And that’s what led to a possible longer life span for Silver at the cost of Lilia’s lifespan??

What if, in a sense, Lilia traded his life for Silver’s? He used what he could to extend Silver’s life at the cost of his own? Until such a time Silver was old enough to find his own cure or do it with the help of Malleus and Sebek?

(In another sense, whatever is happening to Lilia could have been backfired from whatever befell Silver. And he wanted to hide that from his family)

Another thought was that Lilia = Maleficient, so he could come across Silver, thought he wouldn’t care about said child, and then grew to love him, and when he went to break the curse (what if Lilia put the curse on him), he couldn’t break it and he regrets it? But this is an idea for another time.

As I think more and more about the timeline of twst, I’m very curious when the war took place in terms of their history.

Lilia always talks about the war as if it was so long ago so that makes it more interesting in terms of when the did the war finish, when did he raise Malleus, and when did he find Silver?

I hope chapter 4 will give answers to these questions.
