Ok, so, I've never watched any of the qsmp streams, but I read your rambling about it and read your one shots abt it, and uh do you have any advice on how to get into watching the streams? Like where do I start? How to catch up on missed lore? Stuff like that

well there are a lot of different POVs you can choose to catch up on and which one(s) you choose will definitely affect your understanding of what's going on. if you want to just catch up on the primary major story beats overall (federation lore, main egg lore) this channel on youtube has made 3 videos so far summarizing the lore as it goes on. I haven't watched these videos myself so I can't say how accurate they are or if they leave anything important out, but I've heard positive things!

now if you wanna catch up on more individual lore/character dynamics and all that then you're facing a bit more of a challenge. I believe quackity has most of his qsmp vods uploaded on his vod channel so you can definitely check those out for his story stuff. if you wanna understand my fics better wilbur has the smallest number of qsmp vods out of the cc's at least somewhat tied into the storyline so it shouldn't be too hard to catch up on his stuff. his vod from day 1 of the qsmp has one of the funniest moments from any wilbur stream ever (yes I am referring to that moment he was talking to max) but I don't think you need to watch a ton from any of the day 1 POV's after the first hour or so.

while phil is the pov I watch the most for qsmp, he's definitely less involved in the plot. but unlike what I keep seeing some people on twt and tumblr say, he DOES participate in the rp and does care about the lore. he just doesn't go out of his way to get super involved in it and likes making 4th wall breaking jokes. but yeah if you're looking for more lore based stuff, phil might not be a great pov to watch as your primary.

now bad is the english speaking cc most involved in the heavy federation lore stuff, so his vods are definitely good to check out if you're looking for an english speaking cc to watch. jaiden's also definitely tied into it and has her own very interesting plotline going on atm involving the federation, but she doesn't stream as often so there are a few more gaps with her compared to bad who's been daily streaming for months now.

now for the cc's who don't primarily speak english, it's definitely a bit more of a challenge to watch those POVs if you don't speak the cc's language, but when many cc's are in a group they'll usually switch to english since that's the most common language on the server. also there's the translator that most of them have up on their screen, but it's not super accurate and a lot of the time cc's forget to switch it between languages so I don't rely on it much. for lore stuff, cellbit is a great choice because he's been heavily involved in investigating the federation and solving puzzles and all that since he first got on the server. from the french side, baghera jumped into lore stuff pretty quickly too so I highly recommend her pov as well

again I don't know how detailed/what the summary videos do and don't include but if you see clips from certain streams on that summary video that look interesting, I definitely recommend going to the vod itself and watching at least a bit of it. the group dynamic between all the players on the island is so delightful to watch. so many great friendships have formed bc of this server and it's so much fun to watch them grow in real time.

more than anything though when you're trying to catch up, go through the tumblr tag! follow people who liveblog a lot! follow the updates accounts on twitter! I actually don't catch many streams, but I'm usually pretty up to date on the big plot stuff happening on the server at all times just from what I see on my dash. read posts and check out the tags to absorb info via dash osmosis. that's how I caught up on dsmp when I first got into it back in january 2021 lol

ah.... Long pilisophical post deleted..... I was getting somewhere and having a productive thought train.... Ahhh..... Maybe this is a message from god that I should sleep? Ah.... I think I had some good thoughts* tho so I'll bullet point them

*if anyone starts to study kinning/therapist/otherkin as linked SOLELY to mental illness and therefore making it "invalid" or "crazy" we need to arm ourselves. People need to be weird on the Internet ok

*I don't relate to the two psychotic friends I have... one of them uses the Internet a lot and has some unnoticed biases so that's a given. But the other one doesnt and has gone through a lot of trauma but still looks at me weird when I mention being Jesus IN PRIVACY WHEN WE R HASHING THINGS OUT mind you. He just kind of treats me like an anomaly?? :-( I'm actually very fucking tame$ and polite when it comes to talking about who I am so this upsets me. He might just be shitty but I'm nervous about joining a psychosis support group when I've been treated this way by close friends... Even in the fucking psych ward I was "weird" but those are notoriously cliquey and everyone there was from some form of negative twt

ahahahhaha no don't worry, my signal was in fact acting up (i'm on an island) so i decided to send the ask again just in case when i still remembered what i wanted to say! (also totally knew what to expect before i clicked the link 😆)

i know some people hate mullets with passion but i had no idea people were so nasty? his mullet literally attracted me to the group lmao. despite being a fan for a long time i only joined atiny spaces at the beginning of 2020 so i had no clue.

miss tenelka, taemin is my ult as well so i know what you're talking about, i've been a shawol for ages! though my feelings towards hwa are a bit different since taemin is like my bestie, my soulmate (i know, dramatic, i just relate to him and key a lot), and hwa is... my ideal everything... but i theory obviously

their first concerts were something else, i would love to see them again though, but so far it hasn't happened and probably won't for a while 🙄 (glad you're free from your ex)

ahhhh i see, honestly the gossip girl aspects didn't matter to me much, i liked htat the focus was more on the characters, but i understand where you're coming from. i definitely felt the presence of the city in arrow in the dark.

i used to have a hwa side blog (it's sadly gone cause tumblr is a bitch) and i still have hwa centred twt account. i mainly post(ed) about him, made gifs, edits, fan art and some people treat me like a solo stan it's baffling. i won't lie and say he isn't my fave, because he is and i love him the most, doesn't mean i dislike other members, smh.

in the end you have to post and create whatever you want, i'm sure people who bias other members and perhaps don't really read seonghwa fics are a bit jealous because you're such a great writer. so i can't blame them for wanting to read a story about their fave from you! but yeah they just need to deal with it. there's no use writing something that you dislike or feel like isn't authentic

yeah, it was mostly instagram comments whenever he would post a selfie. the comments were usually pretty negative and i remember being disgruntled over it and happy he didn't cave to pressure and change his hair. that's one of the reasons i love hj - he always wears what he wants and does what he wants to his hair and that's that. he's had hairstyles i've not been a fan of but i always love that he does what he wants stylistically boldly. and now newer atiny love the mullet and i constantly see them wishing he would bring it back so i feel vindicated in a way lol.

twitter is overall a pretty negative space. i use it mostly for shitposting because it's just a mess. sorry you had to deal with ppl thinking you were a solo stan. i don't understand the logic in that because there is such a diff between being a solo stan and having a bias, you know? if you ever start posting on there again, let me know cuz i am always kinda looking for good hwa accounts on there.

yeah sometimes i feel a little bit of the odd one out in the fanfic community because i know you are sorta expected to take requests, write for every member of a group, etc and i don't. i'm also shy and keep to myself and i struggle with any sort of attention me (i try not to be too aware of how many notes or followers i have because it gives me anxiety lol). most of the friendships i've formed thru the blog is because people have messaged me first altho i try to overcome my shyness and message people if they've written a fic that i've read and enjoyed a lot. i understand if someone likes my writing style but doesn't wanna read a hwa fic they could be a little frustrated i haven't written for other members but as you said, my writing is an extension of me and it's important that i write what i want and what feels true to me. the work is better for it.

I FEEL THE EXACT SAME WAYS about how you described the situations with dttwt, sleepytwt, dtblr, and sleepyblr like

first though another big reason WHY there r more sbi stans on tumblr and dt on twt (imo) is that sbi fans are less "stan"-like (they tend to be lore fans/be more dsmpblr) and it's more like a traditional media fandom which tumblr is like,, the home of vs twt which is the site of the infamous kpoptwt n stuff and so attracts more "stans" (the ppl who like ccs)

but HARD agree on the black and white thinking part all nuance is killed on twt bc its easier to use quick buzzwords to get a point across which abandon the usual elaboration you'd get if such a word limit didn't exist (ie tumblr)

and i never even considered the easy access the fandoms have to each other on twt :0 but that's such a good point since that also means more clashes

with the lore it definitely doesn't help that the VERY FIRST major conflict was a dt vs sbi (adjacent) one (lmanburg revolutionary war) which 100% paved the way for lore discourse btwn the groups

oh god old dtblr... i think the way it was also contributes to the dt vs sbi popularity divide btwn tumblr and twt bc i see so many twt users say they r turned away from tumblr bc of old 'dtblr' meaning that initially tumblr had immediately marked itself as a more dream-anti space (but not an anti-sbi one, explaining the divide) so not only did people adopt the general attitudes of old dtblr but such attitudes attracted those prone to accepting it as well

SO TRUE abt many anti-dt sleepyblrs being the way they are bc they base their perceptions off of how dttwt acts and with all this mess being soo big simply bc of twt's sheer volume (the amount of sbi blogs i've seen where the only time they talk abt the dt is to point out their toxic twt and/or "cringy" stans definitely points to this)

on the sleepytwt and dttwt mutually hate each other while (more) sleepyblr hates dtblr yet (most) dtblr r fine w them it makes me think about how dream is always made the villain in sbi fics even when its not abt the dsmp while in dt fics sbi rarely ever have a significant role in them in the first place

a major factor of it i believe is the idea of who's the "underdog" bc obv mcyttwt is way larger and has way more eyes on it than mcytblr and ppl tend to feel more entitled if they feel more "oppressed" (for the lack of a better word) and despite sleepyblr being bigger than dtblr not many people acknowledge it that way? and still act like there r more dt stans bc ppl tend to look out of the platform as well so in general sbi stans hating dt ones seems more justifiable bc 'just look at dttwt!!' while dt ones hating sbi ones is less so

i also think the early stages of both fandoms were huge contributors, bc early dtblr and sleepyblr baaaarely interacted (i don't even know if a distinct sleepyblr that wasn't mostly smpblr existed back then??) so any hatred btwn the two is actually more recent and thus established with the precedent of the two fandoms (like i said previously how there is a dttwt majority and their general hate on sbi)

meanwhile i remember CLEARLY how the rivalry btwn dttwt and sleepytwt started. not only was it bc of the idea that two mcyt twt fandoms must compete but also bc sleepytwt hated dttwt bc they saw dnf shipping as toxic + would flaunt about how their ccs got into no drama (during a time where dream especially got into a lot of it which was june) + they saw tommy joining the dsmp as dream "taking" tommy from sbi (despite him not being a part of it yet) + the 'kickschlatt' situation left many bitter while dttwt saw the addition of sbi + adjacent ccs to the dsmp as them ruining the smp and in general took advantage of their size to get things their way

everything u said about the generalizations is so so true. and like ik ive done it myself as well at a smaller scale but its Such a bad mindset to have at the rate ive seen -- and half the time its misinformation on here about them in cases like that anyway lmao, and just spreads more and more bitterness and contempt over shit thats hardly an issue. like i see ppl on here yelling about them trending certain things for example when 1) its not trending bc its a legitimately trendy topic, it's trending bc several ppl talking about something at the same time causes it to trend in the "for u" trending tab (shitty design) and 2) its 'trending' for a very small amount of time in only certain geographical locations and 90% of the tweets under it are ppl going "ummm why is x trending i fucking hate x ppl for this so bad 🙄🙄🙄" which contribute to the small pool mentioned in 1) just by including the words, regardless of what theyre saying about it. so bringing it over here is essentially transcribing shit that is a not an issue, especially in the grand scheme of the tens of thousands of people in mcyttwt, to their followers on here that already have preexisting views of mcyttwt and wont double check themselves. okay and one more thing, i wanted to include this on here cuz me and esper spoke about it in dms and i also kind of wanted it to wrap off the topic (at least for now) and mainly i feel weirdly randomly putting a post about old dtblr on the dash after the topic on my own blog died a few days ago LOLLL (also its already a long as hell post who v few ppl r gonna read so might as well)

the split off from the extremely dream negative group came w several of them just totally going off into the deep end and involving themselves w doxing and this becoming known. that probably solidified a lot of opinions on them or drastically changed them, and a lot of ppl disassociated from them. the circle and the ones adjacent to it kind of became distanced and distinct then, so just that sector getting cut off is a big part of how the general larger community went on to grow from it all

the dsmp/dteam getting bigger and beginning their climb to their peak brought in new ppl and so growth of the fandom and new ppl helped drown out negativity, and dream himself continuing to grow as a person and as a cc probably further ‘encouraged’ for lack of a better word ppl to openly/like him and shit. and gnf mains in dtblr made "modern" 404blr (as opposed to the earlier distinct group of gnf 'mains' (solos)) cuz of other general fandom happenings which was like,,, a way better space. and then like generally as time went on all of this and conscious efforts to reduce negativity and more aspects im sure helped it all in becoming a more positive space over time, as well as w effects of the fandom multiplying in size.
