Yesterday Kumquat and I visited the Dog Beach in Huntington Beach. It was at least a mile of beautiful sand and ocean with dogs everywhere (my version of heaven). Kumquat got spooked by a bouncy golden retriever puppy but was otherwise pretty thrilled with the whole experience. I couldn’t walk very far without feeling weak and had to sit down and rest. I’m surprised that I’m still not back to normal but I’m hoping to slowly build up my strength. Since I couldn’t do too much physical activity I opted for a manicure and pedicure. Kumquat sat on my lap the whole time which made the process a little complicated. The things I do for my dog!

So far Lucious’ tests support the diagnosis of stress induced cystitis. I’m still waiting on the culture results. The vet we saw was incredibly nice and I was able to get buprenorphine for him and pick up a Feliway diffuser. He’s clearly feeling better and I’m seeing less blood in his urine. I just have to focus on getting him to eat more now because he’s dropped almost a pound since I got sick.

All Ruby wants is to get outside. The place we are staying has a cute yard and she is constantly at the door meowing her head off and trying to slip outside. If she gets out I don’t think I will ever see her again so I have to be really careful.

I watched a movie last night called The Menu. It stars Raphe Fiennes and Anya Taylor Joy. At first it was fun to watch the super elite diners behaving atrociously knowing they would get their due, but once fingers started getting chopped off I was less enamored. I don’t think I’m giving the ending away when I say that the finale involved a most bizarre and un-believable s’mores dessert scenario.

Tomorrow we leave for Palm Springs!

It's #NationalDogDay and this is one of the only shots we have of our original full pack with my family.
