I loved him in NCIS.
I watched one or two old episodes of NCIS nearly everyday. I adore Ducky. He is adorable in the show.
He was a heartthrob back in the day my grandma said years ago. My mum says it too.
My gran before she died made me watch stuff with him in it. Movies; A Night to Remember, The Great Escape. Then To Trap a Spy, The Spy Who Killed Me One Spy too Many, The Spy in the Green Hat + = which were Man from U.N.C.L.E. Films. Plus the tv show The Invisible Man and any NCIS he was in.
You lived a good long life, now it’s time to rest in the stars 🌠💫✨🌟⭐️😭

i woke up to a loud thud coming from down the stairs. quickly, i put a jumper on, grabbing onto anything sharp i could find, just in case it was a burglar. i cautiously made my way down the stairs to investigate the sudden noise.
i reach the bottom of the stairs and see donald, a smile appeared onto my face when i seen him but, it quickly faded when i realised that he was on the floor with tears streaming down his face.
“oh my love, what happened today at work?” i asked worried as raced towards him, and sat on the floor beside him. quickly, i embraced him in my arms and started playing with his hair, trying to sooth him. he put his face in my chest, and cried harder against it.
“what happened?” i repeated. when he managed to catch his breathing he lifted his head to look at me. all his eyes reflected was pain, “love, please tell me what’s wrong so i can try help you.”
the doctor that was so famous for always having something to say, stayed silent. he seemed to be confused and trying to find the right words to recount had what happened.
“we-,” he cleared his voice, “uh… the case we had today was especially difficult. before the work day even started i got this call in uh, autopsy… they said that they were a lawyer, and that they hand information on, uh… nicholas,”
nicholas, donald had told me all about him; all about nicholas’ mum, about how nicholas loved trains, about hot chocolate and about how much donald loved him, he told me everything — including what had happened to him. i only held donald tighter, telling him that it was okay to continue.
“so, i... um, i agreed to meet this lawyer outside, i soon figured out that the lawyer didn’t know anything about nicholas that was he was instead, fishing for information about nicholas. i tried to leave but, next thing i know, i’m on the floor of a van and gagged. jethro found me, thankfully and managed to let me out.” after donald stopped talking, it was my turn to talk.
“oh my love, i’m so sorry that you had to go through that. i know even mentioning nicholas’ name makes you wince… do you mind me asking if that was all that happened at work, or did something else happen?” i questioned, trying to understand the situation better.
“well, at some point jethro and his team discovered a letter addressed to me by nicholas, but the thing is, i had never seen this letter before. abigail did some with her forensics and, she discovered that the letter was written only three weeks ago, which ment… nicholas was alive.” the frown on my face soon turned into shock.
“but, i thought he died? how is that possible?”
“the thing is, it wasn’t my nicholas.” tears started spilling from his eyes once more.
“it’s okay my love, just breath.”
he manages to steady his breathing and continues, “the team figured out where nicholas was and i came along. jethro told me to stay outside, and i did just that — that was until i heard gunshots and, an ‘all clear’ from jethro. i went inside to see a man tied to a chair, he said that the man tied up was nicholas,” donald closed his eyes, trying to stop the tears from spilling. “he may be nicholas… but he was not my nicholas.” tears started spilling out of his eyes.
“oh darling, i’m so truly sorry. i know how much he meant to you, i’m so sorry my love. that must have been so awful.” i said whilst i held him tighter in my arms.
“they thought he was alive, i believed that he was alive,” he said whilst sobbing. “and i- i just, don’t know what to do.” donald broke down. his eyes were filled with pain and suffering, his body shaking. i took his face and faced it towards myself, i placed a gentle kiss onto his lips, then onto his forehead, and i then brought his head back into my chest.
“donald, how about we go upstairs — get you into your jammies and into bed?” i proposed, wanting to make donald feel more comfortable. he nodded at me, slightly smiling.
 ' , —
donald was now in bed with the covers over him. i make my way to the door, before i can leave i hear donald say, “where are you going?”
i turn around to face him, his eyes still puffy and full of pain. i softly smile at him, “i’m going to make u some tea my love.” i start to leave the room once more, but i feel him embrace me from behind.
“no need dear, i don’t want any tea, i just need you here with me. is that okay?” he whispers in my ear.
“of course it is donald,” we make our way to the bed and both lay down. “is there anyway i can help you feel better?” i ask softly.
“could you um… just, please hold me.”

I feel like Ducky was super hip and cool in the sixties. I feel like he was living his best life. Tell me you can't picture the man on a mod scooter hitting on girls in miniskirts???
This might be because David McCallum was in some things in the sixties where he seemed very hip and mod.
But I feel like Ducky was having a good time in the sixties...

Thoughts on ‘The Stories We Leave Behind’ a day later- it was sort of strange how only Tony showed up- I would’ve liked to see Ziva, Gerald, and Gibbs at least. I think a lot of people are disappointed that Mark Harmon didn’t show up, but maybe it would have been too painful for him- you can be sure he was asked. Overall, the episode’s intention was to be a tribute to Ducky and it did that.

Happy 90th Birthday Scottish actor David McCallum.
Born as David Keith McCallum, Jr on this day 19933 in Maryhill, Glasgow, the second of two sons of Dorothy Dorman, a cellist, and orchestral violinist David McCallum Sr. When he was three, his family moved to London for his father to play as concertmaster in the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Early in the Second World War, he was evacuated back to Scotland, where he lived with his mother at Gartocharn by Loch Lomond.
McCallum won a scholarship to University College School, a boys' independent school in Hampstead, London, where, encouraged by his parents to prepare for a career in music, he played the oboe.In 1946 he began doing boy voices for the BBC radio repertory company. Also involved in local amateur drama, at age 17, he appeared as Oberon in an open-air production of A Midsummer Night's Dream with the Play and Pageant Union. He left school at age 18 and was conscripted, joining the 3rd Battalion the Middlesex Regiment, which was seconded to the Royal West African Frontier Force. In March 1954 he was promoted to Lieutenant. After leaving the army he attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (also in London), where Joan Collins was a classmate.
David McCallum’s acting career has spanned six decades; however, these days he is best known for his starring role on the police procedural NCIS as medical examiner as Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard. I first really remember McCallum for his role in another US show, The Invisible Man which ran for 13 episodes in the 70's. McCallum by then was a veteran of many TV and Film roles, starting in the 50's including Our Mutual Friend and The Eustace Diamonds, in the 60's he was in several ITV Playhouse shows before moving across the Atlantic to take roles in The Outer Limits and his big break as Illya Kuryakin in several incantations of The Man from Uncle.
His most notable films were The Greatest Story Ever Told as
Judas Iscariot and of course Ashley-Pitt 'Dispersal' in The Great Escape.
As well as the aforementioned Invisible Man in the 70's he took time to pop back over to our shores to star in two quality series, as Flt. Lt. Simon Carter in Colditz and Alan Breck Stewart in an adaption of Robert Louis Stevenson's, Kidnapped.
The 80's saw him team up with the lovely Joanna Lumley in Sapphire & Steel and several guest roles in the likes of The A Team, Hart to Hart and Murder, She Wrote as well as a one off reprise of Illya in the TV movie The Return of the Man from U.N.C.L.E.: The Fifteen Years Later Affair.
The 90's saw David in Cluedo and Trainer on our TV screens over here and American science-fiction series VR-5 in the states..
During the last 20 years or so he has been in the kids TV show, Ben 10: Omniverse as the voice of Professor Paradox and of course Donald Horatio "Ducky" Mallard in over 350 episodes of the popular NCIS.
David has been married twice. He married his first wife Jill Ireland in 1957. They met on the set of the movie Hell Drivers. Together, they had two sons and a daughter, Paul, Jason and Valentine, with Jason being the only one who was adopted. In 1963, David introduced Jill to his co-star on The Great Escape, Charles Bronson, and she left David and married Charles in 1968. In 1967, David married Katherine Carpenter and they have two children together, a son Peter and a daughter, Sophie. He and Katherine currently live in New York.
In NCIS since 2018, Ducky, played by McCallum, has appeared in fewer episodes. avid McCallum explained that appearing in fewer episodes will allow him to see more of his family, which includes his wife, children, six grandsons, and their cat, Nickie. According to IMDB he has chalked up an amazing 457 appearances in the show, morethan anyother character in the series.

Rest in Peace, David McCallum 🥺 oh this is so sad 😭 to my parents, he was ‘Illya Kuryakin” & “Steel” from the brilliant Sapphire & Steel show that they showed me the when I was younger & to me he was “Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard” from NCIS. I haven’t watched NCIS in a couple of years but it was something I used to watch with my granny & I fondly remember my granny’s crush on Ducky. We used to sit there every day for years watching NCIS on the universal channel & always, always loved Ducky. His words of wisdom, his connection with the characters & even when the actor got older & Ducky showed up less & less, his episodes were even more special to me & my gran.
Thank you, David & Rest in peace 🩵
