Full Confession under the cut due to length
Since someone else posted about how they didn’t understand the fighting/class mechanics about dragon age, I thought I’d share my story.
Basically, when I played origins for the first time, I had no idea how skills worked at all. I just kept slashing anybody who got close enough to my character, and that was it. I kinda just leveled up and added skill levels, only to remove them whenever I got another skill that looked cooler (btw this was for like bow/arrow skills, even though my Cousland fought exclusively with a sword and shield) so at the final battle, I messed up continuously. I ended up using cheats to win, not proud of that.
I role played my first play through as a lawful good little baby, so I never did anything illegal, which in turn meant no stealing or anything. I missed out on a good couple quests because of that so I went back on my second play through, I think I was a little smarter, but I accidentally removed the “stealing skill” from my hot bar which meant I couldn’t add it back. I wanted to die so bad when that happened lmao. And because of all the progress I had made within the time that I removed the skill and realized what I had done, it would’ve been such a chore to do that instead of just taking the L.
Moral of the story, I’m hoping my 15th play through doesn’t end that way.

Just saw a post about zevrans torturers in the fade being dalish elves that made me think about this.
I was listening to zevrans dialogue with the warden and other companions and zevran truly doesn't identify with or as basically any of the groups he could conceivably be a part of. He's left the crows so he's no longer a crow, he was rejected by the dalish and is not really a "true elf", he can't go back to being a kid in the brothel (last place he felt unconditional love). He's never had a lover which wasn't a contract or he didn't kill. He's just very dissociated from himself and everyone around him.
The only thing he consistently identifies as is being worth 7 gold coins. He says it to the warden more than once. He says it to some of the companions. My guys got 1 thing defining his self worth and it's that the crows bought him for 7 gold coins. And what does the warden give him to increase affinity? Gold bars. The warden is saying "You are worth so much more than what the crows paid for" in a quite literal sense. I'm emotional about the pixel man again.

Man I miss the DAO specialization methods, I hope they bring back that type of thing in DA4. I wanna become a blood mage by making a deal with a demon. I wanna become a reaver by joining up with a dragon cult. I wanna become a duelist by meeting a pirate in a random brothel.
Even the less wild ones are really good! Getting close enough to your companions that they teach you their unique skills? I love it!
It’s just so much more interesting and engaging than doing random fetch quests or being purely mechanical

i want to live in the world where dragon age inquisition got to have the in-depth strategy / political organization sim elements bioware obviously wanted it to have where your decisions in managing the inquisition actually meant anything for how it operates and had effects on the game world. sadly we live in the universe where art needs to make profit

Things I know about BG3:
- almost nothing except basic DnD combat&characters knowledge, and I tried to avoid spoilers
- karlach x wyll is a ship the fandom is sleeping on
yeah, couldn't keep my hands to myself and checked out their story and how are people missing out on them? Oh, well, at the very least they are amazing BFFs, have personal stories very much tied to each other, and have great dynamic between the two. I am just choosing to see all of that through the shipping glasses, but lemme tell you, they enhance the show a lot

I love how even at the start of Act 1 it feels like Hawke has already been in the city for a while, how some people know and greet them or make references to some job or encounter they had and have friendly banter with them

I think an interesting cultural factor about Ferelden, Orlais and the Free Marches is that the merchants' networks are so strong that any one of them will buy anything, ranging from like a carved animal to mushrooms to a full suit of armour, completely confident that they can trade it to someone else in turn. Truly the merchants' guild is a force to be reckoned with.

the sequence of events on this playthrough that is driving me insane:
hawke's mom dies
fenris comforts him. badly
next day, viscount calls him to his office. okay no better way to deal with grief than throwing yourself into politics, right?
viscount sends him to ask for seamus in the qunari compound
on the way out, pick a fight with aveline about his dead mum
feeling raw. on the way to the docks let's stop by darktown and flirt with anders about it
anders kisses him
the line "if we could die tomorrow ..." suddenly has a much different connotation than the other playthroughs i've done
follow the breadcrumbs to the chantry
seamus dies. hawke watches the viscount cradle his son's body the way he cradled his mother less than 24 hours ago
exhausted. burnt out. go home. anders is there
make love with anders
ask him to move in
there's coping mechanisms then there's whatever the fuck this was

Having been talking about desire demons and the one in Arl of Redcliffe in particular, I'm curious. (Note: if you picked arcane secrets just to unlock the blood magic spec and then reloaded to pick a different option/picked a different option on subsequent runs, please choose the option you picked on the second go; this poll is for character choices, not mechanical ones.)

I had a need to destress at the end of the week, so I've decided to see whether or not I still can fly a dragon in Century: Age of Ashes. And because of the new season the matchmaking put me with newbies, so at least I've managed to feel good about my skills XD
Anyway, it's still a fun game! The monetisation is pretty obnoxious, but it's F2P so It could be expected. The thing I really love in this game are the dragon animations and how organic the flight simulation is. I've also managed to get a few pretty dragons two years ago, before they've introduced the battle pass. Hence, a pretty dragons tax:

When it comes to playing Marauder, my dragon of choice is Valkür Ridges, followed closely by Smoldering Sands, which was the first dragon I've hatched from an egg.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have a very limited choice of Ironwings, their drops don't like me too much XD but I was able to get the gamer dragon Rayless Depths. Its colors clash terribly with base Windguard skin, but I like its bioluminescent markings and sleek, dark coloring.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I play as Phantom only if I must, but surprisingly I have a few Nightsnaggers too. Their design is a little pointy for my taste, but out of all I have I think I like the Manorc'h Pasturages the best. Its butterfly-like pattern on its wings is pretty compelling and matches the muted body color nicely.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think I've only played the Stormraiser one or two times, but I happened to have a battlepass when the class was first introduced, so I've collected a few extra dragons. The Stonesnouts' design is IMO the most ostentatiously based on HTTYD (the whole game has a very evident footprint in the very concept of it and in the gear aestetics), and my fave from my nesting ground would probably be Radkron the Thunderborn.

Liam being a rogue is so funny tbh cus like. I imagine he mentioned once in passing how he learned how to make some basic rat traps for around the farm or how that one time their neighbour showed him how to repair the stable locks because the goats kept getting out. And then everyone decided he obviously knows his stuff, he is now the Certified Lockpick And Trap Guy. And any time his buddies expect him to break into something he tries to tell them he as No Idea how this works and they're standing supportively in the back all nah man u got this👍
