random question but does anyone else miss the Pokestars studios from B2W2?

Though it doesn't do much gameplay wise it was still such a fun concept.

You could make movies with you're own Pokemon (though you had to first make it with a rental mon, then you could use you're own). Movies have two/three endings that depend on what you're character says and what moves you use. These endings are Good, Bad and Strange (with Strange actually being better than Good)

There's multiple costumes depending on the movie you're making. You could be a prince/princess, superhero, scientist and more. And you can see these outfits from the comic book styled panels that appear when you watch the movies.

You can get fans, and you can also get some items. But something REALLY cool was that if you make a movie with one of you're Pokemon and got the strange ending, you're Pokemon gains a special animation when you send it out. Kinda like Shiny Pokemon or the animation for N's Pokemon that you could catch if you used the memory link.

Ultimately it's nothing huge or game changing, but it was still so cool and a feature that I really miss.

i had the pleasure of meeting geeta in pokemas and i really like her english voice - i couldnt help but chuckle at that one line she actually, audibly says thats supposed to intimidate the players who challenge her (yk.. the "i am utterly incapable of holding back when it comes to pokemon battles") but it does sound really good. her voice is so confident i like it.

this makes me wonder how will the champion gamemode work when the entire paldean team is there ... i'm actually really excited to see them in pokemas because this game has a nice trend going on where they remix character themes - all the elite 4 members gets this treatment where the e4 theme is remixed to make it sound like it was their theme ... if that makes sense. i dont even know the entire paldean league lmao im just having fun !

in your au, would N ever bond w the elite 4?

Augh I really wish there was more interactions between the elite 4 so I could analyze their possible dynamics, but here is what I think would happen: (Warning, long post ahead!)

I like to think that before N, the elite four members were quite unhappy with Alder since he kept on neglecting his responsibilities as champion.

But after he took in N, they saw a change in his personality and passion for Pokémon battling as a new mentor to N. Initially they just saw him as Alder's son, but each grew to respect N in their own individual ways, seeing him as the possible new champion.

Grimsley - Initially Grimsley doesn't care much for N. But after witnessing N communicate with his Pokémon and win numerous battles with this ability, he believes N is an opponent that can fight with unpredictability. This causes him to seek out N to challenge him at random moments. He also offers to introduce N to the world of gambling, much to the disappointment of Alder. N finds his antics amusing and battles him, but doesn't bother with the gambling. Grimsley doesn't mean any harm, he's just intrigued by the idea of finding an opponent that can give him a new challenge.

Caitlin - I think that she is the most reserved of the elite 4 members, and initially doesn't pay much thought to N either. But after learning that he has powers similar to her physic ones, she takes an interest in his abilities. Occasionally Caitlin will stop by to say hello, but she prefers to stay inside so N doesn't really see her that often. Their dynamic is probably the weakest, but they are on friendly terms.

Shauntal - She is initially intrigued by N's backstory and thinks it is a fascinating concept for a novel. But after getting to know N, she's even more fascinated with his ability to talk to Pokémon. I like to think she shows up every once in a while to drag N out and help her translate what Pokémon are saying for accuracy in her novels. Eventually N begins to come to her in his pursuit for knowledge & literature, while she geeks out to him about her next story ideas. Sometimes he joins her on her quests around Unova for her next story inspirations. They are both curious to explore the world and uncover brand new ideas and stories, which is what they bond over the most.

Marshal - He would probably be the one that grows the most closest to N, and is friendly to him from the start. He is happy that Alder seems to be able to pick his life back up and is excited by the prospect of having a new opponent he can challenge. When Alder is too busy (or distracted) to train, N turns to Marshal to battle or learn martial arts. Although Marshal still considers himself an apprentice to Alder, he is ecstatic at the idea of becoming a mentor figure to N as well. While Alder nurtures freedom and spirituality, Marshal is the one that teaches N about dignity and responsibility.

(Also just wanted to throw this panel in here since it demonstrates how Alder & Marshal's dynamic works, and it made me chuckle)

N's interactions with the elite members brought the 4 closer to Alder, and they all appreciate him for mending their previously fragile companionship.

Cause of your art, I have accepted the Elite 4 polycule into my headcanon stuff lol. Which makes it even funnier cause I also headcanon Piers and Marnie to be Grimsley's nephew and niece... so they get two aunts and an extra uncle from Grimsley's partners lol.

i wanna draw for this one day, but i also HC piers and marnie as being Grismley's little weirdo punk relatives. Grims has very good "uncle that has been arrested" energy about him. Even better if he's on thin ice with Piers and Marnie's parents.

content: gn reader, established relationship, feel-good stuff w/ angst in grimsley's hcs. reader is an elite 4 member in grimsley's hcs, and an antagonist in colress'.

tw: discussion of grimsley's gambling addiction at the beginning of his section, and reader's depression at the very end. nothing graphic, but symptoms are mentioned.

GRIMSLEY

you meet grimsley when you take his place as a member of the elite 4. you're worried that, even though he stepped down, he'll be resentful...but he's too preoccupied with the fact that you're the most gorgeous person he's ever met in his entire life.

be prepared to spend a lot of time keeping him away from the casinos. while he's gotten better at curbing his addiction, there are plenty of moments where he'll relapse, and relies heavily on you to help him maintain his streak.

it's heartbreaking to watch grimsley's confidence and charisma drain away at the sight of a casino. you pat his face, trying to get him to turn toward you, but he can't take his eyes off the shining lights. "just one spin?" he asks out loud. he's far away on his own plane of existence. you step in front of him and get in the way of the casino, moving your head to block his view. "you've been doing so well," you say. "i'm here for you. you're strong. you're capable. you can do this." with your words, he pulls himself out of this daze, and takes your hand so tightly your fingers start to grow numb. "thank you," he says, his voice quiet.

lots of words. just from those brief moments in the games, you can tell that he's got a lot of control over what he says. he tells you every day without fail how much you mean to him. and when you're proud of winning a battle, or upset at a close loss, he's always there to praise you no matter what.

he has a competitive streak. when you show up to watch his surfing competitions, he's a completely different person. taunts, playful jabs, everything he can muster to secure at least secures 2nd place. he brightens when he sees you, and you have to yell at him to focus on the water. (he's almost wiped out once or twice because he's just so enamored by your presence.)

he also knows what it means to be in a dark place mentally. when you stress, when you get anxious, when depression takes its hold—he never says anything because he knows that words don't always make it through. so he'll just sit there with you, and quietly talk about his day, and ask you what you want for the future. just little reminders that no matter what, this too will pass.

grimsley knows exactly where to find you when he gets home and all of the lights are off. with quiet footsteps, he opens the door to your bedroom, and finds you huddled against the bed, eyes unseeing. he leaves for a few moments, and comes back with two cups of hot chocolate. he sets them down on a small platter in front of you, then sits next to you, touching as much of you as he can without being on top of you. you shift a little, and he smiles. "hey, lovebird," he says. "we have that fancy date at the restaurant in a week. i'm sure you're going to look absolutely ravishing in the outfit you've picked out. they have your favorite foods, too." you don't respond, but you do lean your head onto his shoulder. he wraps an arm around you, and continues to ramble about the things he has planned for the next week. it hurts him, in every part of his body, to see you like this, but he knows better than anyone how much of a struggle it is to even get out of bed. so he leans close to you, his lips almost touching your ear. "you made it out of bed today," he whispers. "i love you." you nod. things will get better soon.

COLRESS

you joined team plasma before he did. in charge of biotechnical advancements and acting as the organization's resident "nurse joy," it was only a matter of time before your paths crossed.

he's enamored by your intellect. you can keep up with his (admittedly crazy) ideas, and he's found that a lot of the things he's invented are credited to you, too.

colress writes everything down. ideas, notes, observations. it's frustrating but overwhelmingly human to find that you make your way into everything he writes.

"today, team plasma finalized our plans for the plasma frigate. (y/n) looked like the epitome of power standing atop the deck. i have no doubt in my mind that they will stand steadfast against the trials and tribulations put forth by the pokemon league..." colress stops immediately. he almost throws his pen across the room, but composes himself with a deep breath. how can he be this obsessed with a person? there must be something wrong. a quiet knock on the door interrupts his thoughts. "come in," he says, and immediately regrets it as you step into the room. "doctor colress, i'd like to get your feedback on a new device," you say, a smile lighting up your features. "do you have a moment?" his mouth grows dry. oh, there's absolutely something wrong with him.

you have to make the first step. colress would never in a million years admit that he's succumbed to the human folly of falling in love. even when you say something, he immediately jumps into analysis, only stopping when he sees the way your face falls.

a relationship with him is. a learning curve. between team plasma and his own research, there's little to no time to go on dates. he'd rather drop dead than let lord ghetsis catch wind of this new relationship.

but he still makes time for you. in little ways. through small notes and gifts left on your desk. your name etched into the smallest of crevices in the inventions the two of you make. and when the hero defeats team plasma, and everyone scatters, that's when he decides that he's had enough of this life.

"so, this is it," you say as you hoist a bag over your shoulder. "what are you going to do now, doctor colress?" it's become a term of endearment, the two of you calling each other "doctor" even though there was no need once you got beyond a certain stage, but he finds it leaves a bad taste in his mouth. "it's not doctor colress anymore," he says with a faint smile. "i think i'll stay here. continue my research on pokemon. however...i don't wish to continue harming them. maybe we'll find other ways of enhancing their natural strength." you tilt your head to the side. "we?" he nods. he extends a hand out to you, even though you've already discarded your lab coat and badge. "what do you say? will you continue on the path of new discovery with me?" for a moment, he's scared that you'll say no. for a moment, he's terrified that your relationship started and ended with team plasma. but you take his hand and drop your bag. "always and forever," you say with a bright smile. "let's change the world together."

black and white 3: Integrating the Gimmicks

Unova was the generation before every region got its own battling Gimmick, and honestly, I don’t think they need their own. HOWEVER, I do think there are ways to bring back other Gimmicks, even the region exclusive ones.

If ONLY so we can see them used more in battle competitions

the BW3 is going to get all sorts of toys to play with lol.

Terra Orbs: Accessible Post-Game

Imported from Paldea, these require recharging at unique stations only found in special PokeCenters

unfortunately, these recharging stations have to be regularly shipped back to Paldea in order to recharge the Tera Crystals inside

these are still in beta until Postgame

They have been distributed to select trainers in but can be earned through a small series of tests

this is the Paldea’s League way of checking to see if Unova is safe enough for them to be willing to participate in the Pokemon World Tournament

the testing area is run by a Elite 4 member Rika and Poppy, as well as a champion-level student studying abroad

Dynmaxing: Accessible Post Game

By far the least favored of the gimmicks in Unova due to the sheer SIZE of the affected pokemon being far greater than most infrastructure is design to handle, few areas allow it

like Tera Orbs, Dynamax bands would require recharging from special “Eternal Lanterns”

this is Macros Cosmo’ attempt to wheedle into the Unovan Market but has been notably unsuccessful

the player would receive a dynamax band post-game out of sheer desperation, but would be unable to use it until recieving/finding one of these lanterns

cannot be used in official league battles outside of the Pokemon World Tournament due to the buildings being unable to handle them

Z-Crystals/Z moves (+ bringing Grimsley and Colress back into Unova): accessible in early game

Castelia City:

look if Galar can blatantly steel Silvally from Alola with NO EXPLANATION, Grimsley can sneak out of the country with a box full of Z-Crystals and a Z-Ring or two

Only work with if the character has 1 of four special Alolan Totems (one from each island, each Z-Crystal only works with the Trial Captains associated diety)

First Z-Ring and Z-Crystal (type only, no Species Z crystals) of your starter is free if you beat him in battle but the totem costs you 60,000 pokedollars, halved to 30k if you beat him again afterwords

Will only sell you one Z-crystal a day for 15k of your choice IF you beat him

If you loose you have to wait for the next day

Only found at night

Colress on the other hand, will give you a random Z Crystal (that you may or may not already have) if you beat him in battle using a Z Crystal (so he can study it’s energy)

Once you have gotten all the Z-Crystals and Totems, the next time you see go to them they are together, they mention packing up their bags to try different haunts

They leave with a final gift to them for their assistance/indulgence of their games (INSERT SOMETHING INSANELY HELPFUL BUT NOT PLOT RELEVANT- shiny charm maybe?) 

As soon as they leave the scene, the officer Jenny shows up, and asks the player if she/he/they have seen two suspicious/shady men with strange hair and coats

The player can say yes and point in the direction they ran and send the Officer’s on their tail, or say no and point them in the wrong direction

If player says No, Grimsley and Colress will appear occasionally through out the city and greet the player (possibly at Gear Station as challengers?)

If the player rats them out Colress and Grimsley are never scene again

Either way, this would lead to a later Post Game cutscene during the Pokemon World Tournament with Kukui regarding the missing totems and Z-Crystals where the player has the option to return the items or lie and keep them

Player returns the Stolen Items (of course, half the games about being TRUTHFUL) to Kukui (as the Totem have been drained at that point)

Kukui can now be used to “recharge” the Totems to real low access to Z-Moved

Mega-Evolution: accessibility early game

Nimbasa City

Mega Ring with Key Stone gifted to player from dad after he returns to trip from Kalos, unfortunately he doesn’t have a mega stone for it, but that can be another adventure/quest for the player to work on!

Mega-Crystals can be gifted from NPCs after helping them with requests or purchased at Gear station using BP (higher price items) 

Professor Augustine sent a bunch of mega stones to the Subway Bosses (pre-PLA) in an attempt to prove they were safe (after Hoenn’s smearing the public image of Mega-Evolution)

Some Larry headcanons

Autistic, probably undiagnosed though.

Grew up without a very involved father. Honestly doesnt even know his father's first name let alone his birthday. The times he was around, he didn't spend it with his kids. Larry doesnt care to really know anything about him at this point.

Middle child.

His older brother, by 4 years, is Grimsley. His younger brother, by 2 years, is Piers' (bio) dad.

Hes only met Piers once as a baby. Hasnt met Marnie yet since shes not actually related to him. But he does know of her thanks to public knowledge of their former actor mother.

Hes been thinking of reaching out to Piers, especially after he heard about what happened to his mom.

Not particularly close with his younger brother but hes not very happy with the man hes grown up to be anyway. He's basically become their father, but worse by completely abandoning his kid instead of partially ignoring.

Only ever hears from Grimsley when he wants something or when hes visiting the Paldea casinos. Wishes Grimsley would seek help for his addiction as he believes he has the potential to change and heal for the better unlike their brother.

Only talks to his mom on a regular basis. Actually thinking of moving back to Unova to take care of her, but Unova doesnt offer many high paying jobs like Paldea does. He has a lot to think about.

Was Johto's normal gym leader for 2 and a half years before moving to Paldea with his now ex-wife, Gala.

Personally trained Whitney and was proud to pass the gym down to her as she improved greatly in the one year he'd been her mentor. Especially terrified of her Miltank, he wont lie.

He was 17 when his family lost their fortune. So he started training more and more and so by the time he was 21, he was strong enough to be confronted by the Johto league with the gym leader proposal and the possibilty to join the Elite four if an opening ever came up. He accepted because of the wage and bonus battle commissions. How else was he supposed to take care of himself and his pokemon?

He was offered the gym leader spot after moving to Paldea. Then later the Elite four spot. He has a third job but its never clear to anyone what it is.

Dundunsparce is from his original Johto team and Staraptor was originally a gift from his childhood(as a Starly). His Johto team was Dusparce, Blissy, and Staraptor.

He sent his Blissy over to his mom after she went through back surgery. She takes good care of her and vice versa. It was a good choice.

He and Gala divorced because there just wasnt anything there anymore. They fell out of love. They either just argued or didnt talk at all. They tried couples therapy, but what was really the problem was Larry's work schedual. Unwilling to risk his pay being docked severely for asking for a schedual change, Larry couldnt compromise. Hes got a kid to take care of and rent and bills to pay, he couldnt afford less hours. Not right now anyway. So in the end, they split up and decided on joint custody over Giacomo.

They still get along as friends. They have their own ways of raising Gia, though, and sometimes conflict arrises. But in the end, they leave the past behind them and are able to see each other for coffee without fighting. Gala actually called him when she began to panic about marrying her new/current husband and he provided her with same spiel he got from his mom when he almost walked out on their wedding(she doesnt know this happened; basically Larry didnt think he was good enough for her). It calmed her down and now shes happily married to a guy that Larry actually finds very obnoxious.

Despite having a large, nearly infinite appetite, able to eat nearly anything because he doesnt care, hes not picky, Larry is as thin as a piece of fucking paper.

He has a severe nut allergy though so he does have to be careful what he eats. Hes gotta read every lable closely.

Was the first to go gray out of both his brothers.

Prefers whiskey over any other alchoholic beverage. Especially beer. He really hates beer. Just not a fan of the taste.

Low alchohol tolerance. Gets drunk fast.

Novelty tie collection. Thats literally the most interesting thing about this guy.

His favorite tie is the cloud tie, but his second favorite is a sushi tie he bought himself. He wears it with a lot of confidence.
