this exchange is hilarious. sam, what are you talking about. he literally always acts like this. he loves insulting monsters and then beheading them, it's like his third favorite thing to do. i'm sorry, the only reason i'm being clued into the fact that dean's being hit by mark of cain madness is because the music gets scary, i really don't think sam would notice when dean is just kinda. being normal. this is just how he does his job. he's a bit of a freak.

“you’re purifying me, dean.” sam says, a smile painted reverently on crimson stained lips as he grasps dean’s gushing wrist in his palm, partaking of the flesh.

“its working, you make me feel…” Sam pauses, yellow-tinted eyes flitting up to meet the conflicted viridescent of Dean’s. his gaze flickers all across Sam’s face, desperately searching for a sign, holding out hope for even the slightest hint of the soft, kindhearted nature that defined his baby brother—a softness which he does not find, all hard edges now. A softness, a death which he has to be willfully ignorant to. Dean stares as Sam’s face twists into a cruel grin as he continues, mouthful of blood, “—clean. I think you’re washing the poison out, all that demon blood, but you—you’re making me holy again, can’t you feel it, big brother?”

It’s mocking in essence, a mimicry of the real Sam, of his fears and desires. Dean turns his head, can’t bear it anymore. He feels like he’s going insane, mind slowly unraveling as he spends more time around.. it. He feels movement suddenly, Sam slithering up his body and curling into his lap, wickedly reminiscent of when they were kids and he’d do the same thing. He feels the wet hot of Sam’s breath as he presses his lips to the shell of Dean’s ear, whispering, “I can hear everything you’re thinking.” Dean shivers.

Apart of him wants to turn and look, to spit or curse or yell some more, but he can’t bring himself to move so much as a muscle. it’s not like he’s restrained, he’s here by choice and because, as Sam put it, “running is futile, i’ll just track you down anyways.” Just as the thought crosses his mind that he is infact, not restrained and that he can move, Sam has the gall to snort-laugh at him before he gets up and goes into the bathroom, door shutting swiftly behind him.

Dean stares after him, missing his little brother like hell, only made worse by the fact that it’s his fault Sam’s all twisted up like this in the first place; if he hadn’t made that deal, they could’ve avoided this mess entirely, but a world without Sam in it is no world worth living in. it couldn’t have been any other way, he couldn’t have gone on without Sam, yet, here Sam is, worse for the wear (or better, in Sam’s opinion), and apart of dean is still glad just to have him. a bigger part of him knows he has to fix this, knows he has to make things right. he wants his little brother back, not some soulless reincarnate. he’ll get Sammy back, he has to. He just doesn’t know how… yet.

I love Demon!Dean trying to kill Sam BUT what if the brotherly bond™ extended beyond the boundaries of humanity so instead of going to kill him, Dean subdues Sam and feeds him demon blood to awaken Sam's addiction again. Doing the thing Dean always wanted to but never really dared to properly do: bind Sam fully to him, his baby brother's happiness be damned, because Sammy drank his blood so Sammy is his and they will always be together now, the way they were meant to be Sam still has his powers, and they're strong, but not stronger than a knight of hell, and Dean makes sure to keep it that way. Ne never lets Sam drink from any other demon so his baby brother will always come back to him and Sam always does, he doesn't even try to break out or drink from someone else They go on a bender and do the most fucked up shit imaginable, because they bring out the worst in each other <3

Yall... I just finished reading Demon Seed (1997 ver.) and it has occupied my entire brain. The general idea of it is so enticing to me despite its flaws and the overall ironic misogyny of proteus😭. If you're a fan of dark sci-fi and spooky robots obsessed with human women and impregnating them (it's not what you're thinking-- or maybe it is?) in order to become human/ take over the world, I'd recommend it!! I havent read the original but the 1997 version has given me so much to think about and I think yall might enjoy it. I think reading from proteus's perspective + the way koontz wrote him, can actually help me a ton with my own dark fic writing in a strange way!

this last post (plus my rewatch of 6x05 and first watch of 15x04, where the vampirism as linked to sexual violence is very blatant) did make me think about vampires, drinking blood, & gendered violence as it relates to Sam in S4. how vampires thru the series are strongly associated w/ sexual violence, esp (altho not exclusively) by men against women. I’d never thought about it this way but Sam does only drink blood from women in S4--Ruby, who clearly consents, from the possessed woman who attacks him in 4x20, but then he also kills and drinks the nurse in 4x22 and uses his power to kill a woman in white in Lilith (plus, paralleling Azazel using his demonic powers to kill Mary / other moms of special kids). Jack in 4x04 and how his hunger might make him a danger to his wife, including w/ undercurrents of sexual violence (when Jack and Michelle are having their make up make out session, he’s ‘overcome’ by his hunger and doesn’t stop when she gets uncomfortable), but also how Jack is able to break free to defend Michelle when Travis tries to burn them both alive at the end of the ep. violence as protective and violence as monstrous; where is the line between savior and predator?

#i could even bring in how i think dean's time in hell & torturing feeds into this #how imo S4 intended to parallel dean enjoying torturing w/ sam enjoying demon blood; feeling powerful/strong at the cost of hurting others #and since alastair implied the first person dean ever tortured was a woman #dean torturing a woman breaks the first seal & sam killing a woman breaks the last #meta
