YOUR ART STYLE MADE ME FALL EVEN MORE IN LOVE WITH DAMIANYA AND MADE ME WANT TO LEARN HOW TO DRAW?? HOW DO YOU SKETCH BC SOMETIMES I MAKE AN OUTLINE AND IT'S JUST SO BAD
AWW THANK YOU i wish you the bestest of luck!!!! there's a lotta good resources out there :D
iiii would not use myself as a good example of how to sketch to be quite honest bc sometimes my first sketches look like this
Tumblr media
but most of the time they look like this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
having ugly sketches is a very big part of anyone's art journey tho! gotta warm up before drawing smth cool and that always involves meh sketches
and imo having a crappy little gestural drawing as a base helps a lot JKSDFKSD esp if youre unsure of the details. get the gesture and overall silhouette down first!!! you can worry about other stuff later
look at this silly little man. ya gotta start somewhere w every drawing JKSFK
Tumblr media
I'M RATHER MEH AT EXPLAINING AND DONT HAVE GOOD HELPFUL RESOURCES ON HAND THO SO, GRAIN OF SALT ! ! !
i started drawing somewhere around 2013 while staring at mark crilley and art a la carte tutorials on youtube so it's been a while since i checked resources for beginners but channels like proko, sinix design and ergojosh have a lot of stuff to my knowledge so, might be worth giving those a look!! WISH YA THE BESTEST OF LUCK

when it comes to "roasting" someone's art especially in videos on youtube for the art community side of things..
[This is a long post, I'm just getting out something I've been thinking about for awhile about this subject]:
a lot of people tend to misunderstand what the ""roasting"" entails. some just use it as an excuse to genuinely be rude and draw over the art that was sent in to them without even really providing any good constructive criticism that is appropriate to the skill level of the different artists and acknowledging the different art styles that everyone has or is trying to go for, which can help the artists to improve. and that is regardless of the fact whether or not the original person sending it in knew what sending their art in would entail (ie, having their art altered among other things).
For quite a few "roasting your art" type videos the artist just.. isn't being very constructive. sure some are playful and don't actually mean the whole "rude" thing, but it just comes off as insincere and doesn't feel like they're actually wanting to help these artists nor care. (that's just me tho I guess?? idk.. ethan becker does have some good advice and tips, but his persona of being harsh and such just doesn't do it for me. I can't watch his videos cuz of that.)
but I do think artists like "ergojosh" and "jackie droujko" on youtube, their videos are absolutely respectful and are genuinely helpful with the tips and advice they give for various aspects of art. They also respect the varied styles and do what they can to maintain that style if they ever choose to draw over or redraw separately from the original piece to help show what they're trying to explain for the original creator to understand and use to try and hone their skills and improve, or to.. y'know.. maybe fix the piece if they do choose.
we do need more people making videos not "roasting" the art, but genuinely trying to help the artists whose works they are reviewing and critiquing. The two I listed above from what I have seen of their videos about this sort of thing.. They genuinely are not "ROASTING" someone's art but is actively trying to help them improve according to their skill level and taking into consideration any little things the original artist may have asked about wanting to improve and have had concerns about regarding their own art.
videos like those are really good and nice to see. making "roasting your art" videos and being rude and all about the art regardless of skill level and such is REALLY not something we need. the art community as a whole (as an outsider perspective.. I'm not into major art community circles and such, I'm just some small artist on the internet) has already had a lot of dr4ma and d!sc0urse with lots of hate and bullying and quite a fair amount of that being played off as joking or playful.. which. let's be honest. even playful bullying has its negative effects on the bully and bullied.
I want to see more videos that are respectful while not sugarcoating things or genuinely putting an artist down.

hi! i absolutely love your art style & was wondering if you’re self taught or what your art journey has been like :3
waaah tysm you’re so sweet 😭💗 im self taught!! i did take a few classes last year but i dropped them after like the fourth time bc they just didn’t really take into account what i personally wanted to do despite the fact that they were supposed to tweak the programme to my own liking.. so i felt like it was a bit of a waste of time!! but i do believe it was just this one studio or more likely this one particular teacher and there are better courses out there!!
i started drawing very early on and i just drew a lot up until like 14 i think?? that’s when my depression kicked in and i just couldn’t make myself do much in general. and i had a very long break bc i actually picked art back up almost exactly two years ago, around january 2022!! and it almost instantly became my hyperfixation lmao and i’ve been drawing almost every day ever since!! i did a ton of studies (still do a lot but much less than before) bc i really enjoy learning anatomy and that’s probably how i learned the most, i also watched and studied a ton of tutorials from sinix, moderndayjames and ergojosh!!
if you guys have any questions about art feel free to ask!! i’m not sure whether i’ll be able to answer them but i like talking about drawing lmao

Miss Kendra!! I know I can trust you on this, I am trying to learn how to draw and I am starting from the absolute zero! do you have any book any youtube channel or other resources that you recommend ? thank you 💕💞💘💝💖💗
unfortunately i cannot help you 😔 i learned to draw before the internet was a normalized thing and as a child with no shame so i just was bad at it until i wasn't. i also don't use tutorials ever cuz im impatient LOL. but when i was trying to make my own procreate brushes i found this one yt channel called ergojosh who does all kinds of art tutorials and ppl seem to be eating him up!

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts discussing how it’s important that people reblog creative works instead of just liking them. Why? Because it provides exposure, it motivates that creator to do more, and/or it helps them to get commissioned or other job opportunities.
But I have a few questions.
How many reblogs will it take to achieve these goals?
What if you end up getting reblogs from like 10% of your followers , even if it’s like 10-15, only to end up with 25 notes total?
What if you got a bunch of notes on your latest work up front, say 30 notes (best case scenario, even split between likes and reblogs) in 30 minutes, but the interaction slows down or even stops after two days?
Are you okay with a project you did a year or two ago suddenly becoming popular?
I say all of this to say that Tumblr (and even social media as a whole) can be quite fickle and despite our best efforts, there’s no way to predict how and when others might respond to our creative works and no amount of asking (at best) or guilt-tripping (at worst) can change that.
“But, how do I get other people to see my art/stories/videos/etc.?”
The best way is through interacting with others, whether here on Tumblr, your platform of choice, or at events (in-person or virtual). By all means, feel free to reblog, but only do it if you want to. Otherwise, it’s fine to like, comment, or even send a message.
In the meantime, maybe look into setting goals that you can control the outcome of. For example, rather than say, “I want my art to consistently get at least 35 reblogs,” or “I want this story to get 200 hits with at least ten comments,” how about deciding, “I want to draw two pieces of art with backgrounds every month,” and “I will work on my WIP at least three times a week”.
Also, be sure to check out these videos from ergojosh and Brookes Eggleston. Although they’re mainly geared towards artists, I think any creative can find them helpful:

@kitaminx and I both did a DTIYS challenge for ergojosh's character, Armani, and this was mine~ She was a delight to draw, and I've found I really enjoy doing DTIYSs. They're such a fun, low-stress way to just hash out a quick drawing. If you guys have any DTIYS challenges, you should send them my way! I might choose to do them in a warm-up~ ♪(´▽`)
