The wind whistled lowly through the alley I crouched in as I counted my day’s worth of findings. I shook the florins into my hand, trying not to grab the attention of passersby. Counting money wasn’t a crime, but had I been lucky, the total would’ve been incredibly suspicious.
But unfortunately, the victims of my shenanigans that day must not have been as wealthy as I would’ve liked, because I hadn’t even come close to my goal. I grumbled softly as I spilled my findings back into my leather purse, pulling the strings taut before stowing it in my shirt.
Findings, plunder, dirty money, call it what you want.
I rose to my feet with little enthusiasm; I didn’t like going home without hitting my target. Maybe on my way back I could sneak a couple more florins, just for the satisfaction. I’d have enough to buy something substantial for breakfast the next morning before starting up my escapades once again.
Peeking out of the alley, I joined the crowds with the smallest movements possible, careful to avoid the attentive gazes of any nearby guards as we headed into the town square. The sun sank lower in the sky as I shifted through the streets, jumping from group to group, never walking alone. People were quick to recognize a pickpocket, and if I ran into anyone I’d previously preyed on, my small collection from the day would be the least of my problems.
Shopkeepers all around were packing down their stalls, and travelling doctors were packing up their equipment. No doubt they all had families or friends to go home to, wives to complain to their customers about, frustrating children who took up their personal space, neighbours who intruded at the most inconvenient times. They must consider themselves so unfortunate, and yet I’d give anything to be in their shoes, instead of going ‘home’ to an abandoned, dilapidated gondola. I sighed heavily and shifted from the crowded town square into a narrower street, gently pushing aside an obnoxious minstrel as I went.
Only to stumble upon two figures dueling around three corpses.
I ran and grabbed a ledge nearby, hoisting myself up to avoid the clashing swords as the two of them moved up and down the alley with ease, their swords still swinging back and forth. I crouched and observed in stunned silence; one of the figures, garbed in a white, flowing cloak, appeared to be gaining the advantage over the other, who, upon closer inspection, I recognized as a guard, as were the bodies sprawled over the path. This guy appeared to be in over his head.
“It's a good thing I needed an excuse to test out this new blade of mine,” the mysterious man remarked. “I must be lucky, stumbling upon an eager idiot like you.”
I was shocked to hear the confident tone coming from the cloaked figure. He sounded young, but bold, and his wisecrack didn’t slow him in his advances.
“I wouldn’t call a man who lost his father and brother in one fell swoop ‘lucky’,” the guard sniggered in retort, and the cloaked figure’s strikes became swifter and even more aggressive as he growled lowly, “Fottiti, bastardo!”
The guard stumbled back, and the vigilante didn’t miss a beat; sheathing his sword with one hand and drawing a short blade with his other, he grabbed the guard’s shirt front with his now free left hand and spun him round, wrapping his arm around his neck. He held the blade to the man’s throat, his hood keeping his face out of my sight.
“Please,” the guard whimpered, “have mercy on me!”
The cloaked figure shrugged. “Va bene,” he relented, before sliding the dagger clean across his gullet. “I’ll make it quick.”
The guard crumpled to the ground, a few strangled moans escaping his mouth before he went silent. The cloaked figure knelt and wiped his blade on the guard’s shirt, and he snuck his hand into the leather pouch at the waist, withdrawing a few florins with a smirk.
Only then did I realize my mouth had been agape as I’d watched, and a short involuntary noise of shock flew out before I could shut it. The man spun round to face me, holding his dagger in a defensive position as he looked me up and down.
“Merda,” he murmured somewhat nervously. “What do you want? What are you doing here?”
“I- I-” I stammered, but before I could come up with an answer, he was on the ledge next to me in two or three steps.
“I didn’t even see you sneak in here,” he said, tilting his head like he was trying to figure out a puzzle. “You sly devil; were you sent to spy on me?”
“No, no, not at all,” I hurriedly assured him, my hands raised slightly, afraid he might not believe me. “I swear, this is my route home and I stumbled upon your little conflitto, and I did not wish to interrupt.”
He raised an eyebrow at me. “Conflitto, hm? You think that’s all it was?”
He acted as if he wanted me to call him out. “What, are you some kind of dangerous criminal? Or did they call you bambino and hurt your feelings?”
He inhaled sharply and stepped toward me, and suddenly I lost my newly-found confidence and raised my hands once again. “Just a joke, just a joke!” I protested, and gave a short laugh as if to prove it. He rolled his eyes and turned away from me, climbing down from the ledge.
I blinked in confusion. “Y- You’re just gonna walk away?”
“I have better things to do than entertain a little intelligentone who’s up past their bedtime,” he replied without turning his head. “I’m going home.”
I was no longer impressed by this guy; now, he was getting on my nerves. I jumped down after him, and before he could turn to face me, I snuck his stiletto out of its place in his belt, slipping it complacently into my own.
“What do you want, birbante?” he demanded roughly, swinging something around on his finger by the drawstring.
My leather purse. How the hell-
“Give me back my blade and you can have your dirty money, fair and square.” He held his hand out patiently, and I handed him the dagger with little hesitation, reaching for the purse. He smirked at my desperation, and I scowled. “You think you’re clever, hm, furfante? You want to play a little game?”
I couldn’t say I liked the patronizing tone he’d taken on, but after that stunt, his proposition was enticing. I wanted to know what else this mysterious and strangely dressed young man had up his sleeve.
“All right,” I relented. “What did you have in mind?”
He turned to face the town square behind us, his gaze settling on the tallest building, and he nodded to himself. “I want you to race me to the top of that building.”
I blinked once again, but I let the moment of hesitation pass. “Sure,” I agreed, folding my arms confidently. I had no doubt this man was incredibly agile, but I was not going to back down after he challenged me like I was a toddler.
He cracked his knuckles and smirked at me. “On my count, then.” He took a deep breath and shook out his legs and arms in preparation. “One, two-”
“Three!” I could not possibly have resisted the opportunity; I took off, leaving him in the dust and reaching the base of the tower in seconds. Leaping up and grabbing a small outcrop with both hands, I resisted the temptation to look down and check his progress. I reached up with smug satisfaction, sure that my surprise was enough of a headstart to ensure my victory.
Until a light grunt a few palms away from me startled me out of my reverie.
He was not climbing, but rather, leaping; as he flew up from each perch, he reached for the next, clasping with both hands and using his incredible upper body strength to hoist himself up.
Unlike me, he was unable to resist the urge; he snuck a peek down at me and sent a charming smirk my way before resuming his ascent.
I groaned in frustration when I realized I’d come to a complete stop to watch his method. I continued climbing, reaching for anything I could get a decent grip on. I was fast, but nowhere near fast enough; by the time my blistered hands had gotten me half-way, he was dangling his legs over the edge of the top, watching me with his chin in his palm and his elbow resting on his thigh.
“You’re like a little mouse,” he taunted. “You scurry, but ever so slow! If I’d known you were going to take so long, I’d have brought some bread and wine up with me; I’m starving up here.”
“Maybe I did this on purpose, then, to give you a taste of my life,” I retorted bitterly. “Not everyone can just go around murdering soldiers when they want to break the law.”
As I pulled myself up the last few arms and up onto an overhang, he narrowed his eyes at me. “You think I was fighting because I had to steal food?”
I shrugged slightly as I crawled carefully over to where he sat on the edge. “How should I know? I just met you.”
He grunted. “Fair point.” Sighing deeply, he added, “It’s far more complicated than that, I’m afraid.”
Unsure of what to say, I nodded slowly, waiting to see if he would continue.
“My name is Ezio,” he explained. “Ezio Auditore.”
I recognized the name. After a moment of contemplation, I remembered where from; two men by that name had been hanged a few weeks ago, for a crime I could not recollect.
“My family was falsely accused of treason,” he added, as if reading my thoughts. “I seek to avenge them. That is all you need to know.” He looked so sad as he finished this statement that I felt a twinge of pity for him, forgetting our petty competition. I had no doubt he was telling the truth.
“Well, I live in an abandoned gondola and I steal money from people,” I said, “so, if that makes you feel any better...”
He chuckled lightly, and smiled at me; the gesture filled me with a warmth I had not felt in years; something like what I’d felt when my mother or father would smile at me, but, a little different.
Before I could express any sort of feeling, he rose to his feet, dusting himself off. “Well, topolino,” he said, “this was fun. We should meet again and have a rematch someday.”
I laughed. “Topolino, hm? That’s quite an upgrade from birbante.”
He grinned mischievously, tousling my hair and filling my stomach once again with warm butterflies. “Like I said,” he whispered, “like a little mouse.”
He wrapped his cloak tighter around himself, perching on the overhang I’d pulled myself up on earlier. Turning back for one last look at me, he beamed and winked at me, before leaping over the edge.
My jaw dropped as he disappeared, but I breathed a sigh of relief at the sound of his body hitting a wheelbarrow full of hay below. I peeked over to watch him sprint away, already missing his charming aura, wily as it was.
Reluctantly, I began my descent, wondering if I’d ever see the hooded vigilante ever again.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Valentine Special, day 9th : “Candy Hearts”
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Pairing: Ezio Auditore x fem Reader
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Summary: Another year, another Valentine's Day, spent in very luxurious and expansive restaurants, showered in plenty of gifts with your boyfriend also showering you in compliments, attentions and kisses...or at least, that's how it always has been until this Valentine's Day, when Ezio decided to try something new and simple: staying in the comfort of his home with you, with some music, his cooking skills, his Italian charm and a lot...a lot of candies.
*˚ .♡⋆゚ˊˎ -
A sweet and muffled melody slowly crept into your light sleep, mixing with your confused and numerous dreams and altering them. And this sweet melody, which seemed as if it were floating in your mind, was none other than one of the old Italian songs your boyfriend used to listen to in your company: and you were immediately able to recognise it.
Along with the light-hearted, carefree notes of the song, you could also catch a glimpse of Ezio's tuneful voice humming quietly over the song. You were also able to perceive a delicious perfume intruding into your now drowsy sleep that slowly and gently woke you up completely.
You blinked a few times, quickly bringing a hand in front of your eyes as if by instinct, to protect your still sleepy vision from the sun's rays as was your custom. But no ray blinded your eyes, and no ray touched your skin; peeking through the cracks between your fingers you saw that the living room was warmly lit by numerous candles, their small flames flickering whenever the breeze flew through the open window, making even the light curtains move in a sensual dance.
Removing your hand from your face, you yawned and then took a few more seconds to bask in the quiet, comforting atmosphere of that February evening, continuing to listen to Ezio who, a few steps away from you, was busy as he continued to sing lightheartedly. Closing your eyes, you grabbed the blanket to adjust it better over your shoulders: but as soon as you pulled it up, you heard objects falling on the floor.
Propping yourself up with an elbow, you raised yourself on the couch, an expression as surprised as moved when, peeking down, you saw some red, heart-shaped lollipops laying on the ground. Stretching your arm out you picked them up, only becoming more joyful when you noticed plenty of the same lollipops scattered all over the couch, over you, over the coffee table: the more you looked around, the more you found them all around the living room.
Caught up in such happiness, you let out an excited giggle as you hurried to open the candy wrapper, thus arousing the attention of Ezio who suddenly stopped singing.
"Oh no, she woke up!" you heard him exclaim from the kitchen in a tone that was exasperated and theatrical to say the least, as if he had been taken aback by your sudden awakening. As you tried to open the plastic surrounding the lollipop, you sat up cross-legged on the sofa, collecting all the candies on your lap, looking at them excitedly.
"You don't seem particularly happy about it," you replied in a falsely sorry voice, triumphing when you finally managed to remove the candy wrapper.
"I am not particularly happy, amore mio bellissimo..." Ezio retorted in a high tone so as to be heard, while the noisy clanking of pans and dishes punctuated his every word. "...because I haven't finished yet".
"Finished what?" you asked as you turned your head towards him over the sofa, seeing him quickly walking around the kitchen, rising a questioning eyebrow at him. As soon as he heard your question, he stopped all together, standing behind the counter and, watching you with an almost disappointed face, he placed his hands on his hips.
"The surprise" he answered as he mirrored your inquisitive eyebrow, spreading his arms wide and giving you a knowing expression, as if he expected you to have already known the answer and were lying to him.
"Another one?!" you almost screamed, surprise and disbelief taking the best of you again. You knew very well that this was what characterized Valentine's Day: every year on this day, Ezio gave his best, giving you lots of attention, taking you out to dinner at luxurious and expensive places, buying you anything you wanted. Every year until this last one: Ezio decided to change plans, to do something different but that you would both enjoy. So you both decided to stay at home, not going out and do nothing else but enjoy each other's presence.
During the course of the morning he had continued to make little presents appear out of nowhere, just when you least expected it, leaving you happy, thanking him if not with many kisses and praises. But you didn't expect that, after all those presents, he was planning another surprise. But then again, no wonder: if Ezio was anything, he was an utterly dedicated man to you and his love for you.
"You don't seem particularly happy about it" he sarcastically replied, mocking your own phrase, trying to mimick your voice as he resumed to walk, coming closer to you with a playful smirk on his lips.
"You have done so much already for the whole day Ezio, there was no need for more" you muttered in a low voice while slightly frowning, placing your chin on the back of the couch and watching him, starting to notice how handsome– and appealing he was with that white apron tied around his torso, hugging his waist and hips just right, his brown hair tied back in a low ponytail, a few strands falling on his forehead. There was something incredibly charming and sensual about him while he cooked for you that it drawn you to him even more than usual; while those old Italian songs played in the background.
"Oh please piccola, you deserve this and so much more…" Ezio replied, smiling and making a vague gesture with his hand as he walked towards you. He stopped just behind the sofa and, after wiping both hands on his apron, leaned back on the sofa; leaning down in your direction, he left a tender kiss in your forehead, for then leaving more sweet kisses on your nose and cheeks, feeling him smile when he pressed his lips to yours, kissing you with a little more passion as one of his hands cupped your cheek.
You moved as to get up so you could kiss him better, but he tutted at you, purposely and lightly biting at your bottom lip whole deteaching from you. Seeing you fight, he completely detached from the searing kiss, leaving your mouth open and with a taste of red wine on your lips. Ezio then placed his entire hand on your face, covering it, and gently pushed you on your back on the couch.
You laughed amused at his gesture, taking his wrist with your hand, trying to pull him towards you again. Ezio fondly smiled at you and, leaning down to kiss your knuckles that were wrapped around his wrist, he freed himself as he took your chin between his fingers, caressing your jaw.
"Stay here" he whispered as he walked back in the kitchen and leaving you laying and staying still on the couch while he resumed to cook.
But despite his soft spoken order, you got up completely, turning your steps into the kitchen while still wrapped up in the blanket. You saw your boyfriend finishing to prepare what looked like two heart shaped pizzas, and your own heart melted at the sight: nevertheless of what he said just some moments before, you still felt a bit guilty that he had been busy and fussing all over you for the whole day, and it looked like he wasn't going to stop anytime soon...all the gifts, the attentions, and now also all the food he was preparing for you with so much passion and love.
If St Valentine was about something, it was indeed about love, but also about giving and receiving. And you wanted with all yourself to let him rest for a little while.
"I still haven't done anything for you" you let him notice while you leaned with your side on the counter, reciprocating his witty smile when he raised his gaze up at you, seeing a light malice quickly glistening in his brown eyes, already knowing what he was thinking about: but his words betrayed your thoughts.
"You don't have to" Ezio insisted as he placed the last basil leaf on the pizza dough, looking at it proudly, then turning his smile to you, watching in amusement as you licked the lollipop.
"I must" you pointed at him with the candy in a playfully threatening way, him spreading his arms wide in a sign of surrender, carefully scrutinising both your face and the lollipop. Still sporting a mocking grin, he turned away, taking the trays where the pizzas were laid out and placing them in the oven. But you were shocked when he, as soon as he turned away from you, quickly stretched out an arm and swiftly took possession of your lollipop, putting it straight into his mouth, laughing loudly when you gasped in amazement.
He turned to the other side of the counter, untied his apron and threw it on a chair, then turned his gaze to you, who were still upset about your stolen candy.
"Mhh well then, what about you'll come here…" Ezio began in a nonchalant tone, gesticulating as usual as he sat down on the chair. "...and sit on my lap..." he tapped one of his thigh with his hand, never breaking eye contact with you, truly seeming like you had already forgotten about the way he stole your lollipop.
"...and you'll read aloud what there's written on those candies?" you followed his other stretched arm, seeing what he was pointing at: a white small bowl with many pastel coloured heart candies, on which there were written little wholesome phrases. For once again in that day your heart melted and your eyes lit up at the sight in front of you, happy of how much joy you both could find in small things such as simple heart shaped things, food, songs, candles and each other's kisses and presence.
"That will be your present for me. While I listen and watch you. Mh, che dici tesoro?" Ezio concluded with a suggestive tone, that charming smile still curling his lips up which always made you all giddy inside, him giving one long lick to the lollipop, winking at your flustered expression as to tease you even more.
Warmth rushed on your cheeks as you walked towards him and, placing one hand on his strong shoulder, you sat on one of his thighs, his hand immediately finding your hip, steading you. Stretching out an arm, you reached for the bowl filled with the heart candies, starting to take a look at the candies, humming as you took some in your palm, examining them.
"Even though those hearts will never properly show my love for you...it sounds perfect" you whispered near his ear, smiling before eating one of the candies, hearing him chuckle as he patted your thighs.
"That's my girl"

Prati Aurea (Golden Meadows)
Realm of the Gods under the sun, the world remains in an eternal state of sunset. Each God in this domain has their own designated home upon white clifftops which stand scattered around the realm.
Desire’s Breath
Ezio: God of erotic love (also discovery and kindness)
Tumblr media
You were still very new to the Prati Aurea, the realm of the Gods under the sun, but you had slipped into a routine of waking early to tend to an altar in the grand temple that rested at the very centre of the realm, upon the highest cliff face (you were beyond grateful for the platforms that would rise and fall as a means of transport near each steep rise in the earth or else you were certain the journey would take hours and destroy your legs). It brought you some peace to do something so habitual and familiar in this strange new place.
It was far grander than any building that you had ever set your eyes upon: the pillars upholding it were carved with various stories of the gods under the sun that moved to display their tales upon the marble. The ceiling was covered in paintings of the Gods and any other being featured in their stories which would change depending on which deity was more dominant over the calendar at that time. There were various stained glass windows that painted the temple in a rich kaleidoscope of colours at all times in the eternal state of sunset, windows with corresponding colours to their gods would cast their hues over the altars of their deities.
One particular morning, you made your way to the temple to tend to the altar as usual, getting to work on cleaning up the ashes of incense and replacing some candles that had burned to their ends, when you noticed someone had left a new offering. To the left of the altar, poking out from a bouquet of dried roses was a glass dome. You dragged it closer to the front of the table, being mindful to not knock off a bowl of amber stones in the process. Inside appeared to be a lily, buried in a small pot of soil that was covered in a glassy mosaic of two lovers in bed. Considering that you had been a priestess to the God of love – particularly erotic love, mind you – for the most part of your life, you didn’t bat an eye at the image. You carefully removed the dome to examine the flower. It was in full bloom and its petals were the colour of a cold sunrise, streaked by warmer oranges and it almost seemed to glow. Some of the pollen around it lingered in the air and you couldn’t help but draw closer to it as it seemed to glitter and glow in the rich red light that was streaming in from the stained glass above you.
It seemed to withdraw into itself and your brow furrowed as you brought your face even closer, watching the colours on the petals pulse towards the centre before a plume of pollen was spat at you and you quickly withdrew with scrunched eyes, wiping your fingers under your eyelids before opening them again and grabbing the glass dome, slamming it back down over the flower and returning it to the spot where you had first found it by the roses and amber.
“No need to be rude.” You chastised it before trying to smear some of the glittering pollen away from your face, only to realise it was incredibly sticky and you were, in fact, just spreading it over your skin more. You pulled a face and got to lighting incense and candles, saying your prayers and then leaving, satisfied that it was a well-maintained altar.
You made your way back to the lavish home of Ezio – you were still getting used to the idea of living in a God’s home – and began to feel very hot. You wondered if maybe it was the sun: you had only been here for a short period of time and heard that the seasons didn’t exactly change here: constancy, just like the immortality of the gods. As you walked through the meadow plains back towards your new home. Your eyes skimmed over the poppies and foxgloves around you and you realised that you were more out of breath than usual and the sheer amber fabric of your flowy dress felt uncomfortable against your skin, particularly your breasts and hips. You pulled your hair away from the back of your neck, laying it over your shoulder in the hopes that the breeze against the bare nape of your neck would help you to feel cooler but it only made you grit your teeth in a want to have a hand carding through your tresses or tugging against them.
You had been living with a sex God and had been busying yourself so much while trying to settle in that you were just a little sexually frustrated - anyone in their right mind would be, you reasoned. As you stood agitatedly on the platform that rose you up the steep cliff face that Ezio’s home was built upon, you fiddled with the straps of your dress and let them fall past your shoulders, feeling a little less restrained in it but no less hot. You shuffled on your feet, pressing your thighs together and wanting little more than to go to your ridiculously large bed to satiate the ache between your legs. As you descended the small steps from the platform onto the path, you almost gasped at the feeling of your wetness laddering between your legs as it dribbled down your thighs. You swallowed hard, knowing that something was amiss - yes, it was fair enough for you to be sexually frustrated, but to be this turned on? You had never felt so wet in your life, nor so hot and you fought the urge to scratch the skin from your body.
You caught sight of the pool that sat a little distance away from the stairs which led up to the grand entrance of Ezio’s residence: it was merely decorative and various red flower petals floated upon its surface, much like the one at the temple you had run before you died. Absolutely panting for breath and feeling light headed, you kicked off your shoes and didn't bother with the rest of your clothing before plunging into the shallow depths, the water lapping around your hips and you shivered at its cold temperature for a moment, submerging yourself entirely and pushing your hair away from your face as you resurfaced. You slumped against the edge of the pool, folding your arms over the tiles and resting your head against them, still feeling impossibly hot.
The sound of nearing footsteps only irritated you and you buried your face in the crook of your arm.
“You don’t look too comfortable there, little priestess.” Ezio’s familiar voice filled your ears - typically, you adored hearing his low timbre but now it only made the ache in your core that much more intense and you scowled against the crook of your elbow.
“I think I’m getting sick.” You replied in a huff and you could feel his shadow blanket you as he knelt down. You bit back a desperate whine as all you could think about was his body pinning yours down as he brought you unimaginable pleasure that only he would be able to provide.
“That’s not possible. The dead cannot fall ill, you are an immortal soul now.” His palm pressed to your forehead and you had to bite back a moan at feeling his cool skin against yours, how you’d love for his hand to slide down and cup your jaw as he kissed you dizzy.
“Then why do I feel so hot?” You whined as you looked up at him for the first time and you watched as his expression quickly changed from concern to amusement, trying and failing to hide a smile. “What?!” You exclaimed exasperatedly, wanting to know what could possibly be so funny about your current condition when you felt as though you were about to burst. Your eyes fell closed with delight as he ran his finger along the bridge of your nose – what you would do to feel such a caress on any other part of your body. You opened your eyes once more when he pulled his hand away and you watched him rub his index finger and thumb together before pulling them apart to reveal a string of pale, glimmering gold between them. Had you really been walking around with that pollen on your face? You thought you had rubbed it off.
“I think I see what’s going on here.” His fingertips caressed from your wrist to your shoulder, stroking against your pulse and causing you to tilt your head with a soft moan to allow more of his touch. “You came across a desire’s breath lily today, didn’t you?” Your face would have blanched if not for the fierce blush across your cheeks that you couldn’t shake.
“I thought those were made up! That they were just supposed to serve as a metaphor for the nature of desire in the stories!” There was a chuckle from Ezio who pulled a whimper from your lips when his fingers traced beneath the traditional silver necklace that you wore as a symbol of your priestess status.
“For the humans of your world, perhaps it serves as a metaphor, but in this realm they are very real and I can assure you that the lily nymph in that story did, in fact, make that human need to be satisfied for almost three days straight when he wandered into this realm.” Your eyes could have dropped out of your skull with how much you widened them.
“I won’t have to go for that long, will I?” You were sure that three days of doing nothing but have sex would kill you with exhaustion - you may no longer be restrained by your mortal body but you had never done sucha  thing before and you had no doubt that such an act was a mere trifling for the God of sex.
“No, I’m assuming you were only exposed to a small dose of pollen as you’re not utterly covered in it.” He replied and you sighed in relief, both from the information and the way that his hand had slipped past the neckline of your dress to grope your breast so casually as you spoke. “Would you like my hel-”
“Yes please!” You exclaimed before he could even finish the sentence and your eagerness made him chuckle as he scooped you from the water, lifting you bridal style in his arms. You reached up to tangle your fingers in his dark hair, working on the red tie that kept it swept back as you pulled him into a messy kiss. He swallowed your moans and you readily allowed his tongue past your lips.
Your wet hair stuck to the silken red sheets beneath you as Ezio dropped you to his bed. If you thought that your bed was ridiculously large, Ezio’s made it seem like a cot. You were sure that it was so large because he was rarely alone in it and likely had various lovers at once in here. You were quick to begin gathering up the flowy skirt of your sheer dress, heavy with the weight of the water soaking it, bunching it at your hips as Ezio was pushing your knees apart. You bucked your hips towards him in desperation and he licked his lips at the sight of how bare you were beneath the dress – you had quickly learned from the lack of them in your dresser and wardrobe that undergarments were typically forgone in this residence. He brought his hand between your legs to run two fingers along the outside of your folds, making you feel how utterly dripping you were as the entirety of your cunt was already smeared in your wetness. You clamped a hand over your mouth at the loud moan that left your lips, surprising you in its volume. Your breasts heaved with each anticipatory breath as he teased you and you struggled out of your soaked dress, wishing now that you had stripped before getting in the pool.
He watched you try to claw off the dress and smiled in amusement for a moment before reaching up to help you out of it, tossing it into the floor and you would have giggled at the comical slap of the wet fabric against the tiles if not for your utterly desperate state of arousal. Your head was swimming with need and you keened at the feeling of Ezio sinking his middle finger into your entrance with no resistance.
“Don’t need it, please.” You begged as you curled your hand into where his chiton was wrapped around his waist.
“You don’t think that you need to be prepared before laying with the God of erotic love?” He raised a brow and curled his finger upwards, making you arch your back up towards him and you cupped your breasts in your own hands to try and ease how neglected they felt in comparison to your immense need.
“Flower’s prepared me plenty.” You muttered in retaliation, hearing a chuckle from Ezio which only made you pout before your lips inevitably parted in a moan when he sank a second finger into you.
“Oh, you’d be surprised.” He grabbed one of your wrists, pinning it beside your head as he leaned down to wrap his lips around the nipple that your fingers had just been teasing, making you throw your head back and writhe under him as his fingers began to pump in and out of you. You suddenly felt the size difference between the two of you as you felt full of his fingers, though that feeling waned and left you wanting for more, for something bigger, each time he stroked over your sweet spot, finding it each time with ease. His thumb came to press against your clit and your hips jolted as you released a drawn-out whine.
“Oh my God.” You moaned out breathlessly, head swimming too much to form an actual sentence.
“Hm, yes, I’m your God.” He murmured against your chest as he nudged your hand away to give your other breast equal attention, “Pray to me some more.” You had spent countless hours of your life praying to the God who currently had his fingers inside your dripping pussy and yet you had never truly entertained the idea of praying to or worshipping him in this context when you had been alive – back then it had seemed so impossible. Yet here, in this world, in this privileged state of death that you were granted, it was a reality. You opened your mouth to beg for him faster, harder, and he seemed to know it before you even did for, as you were mid-way through the thought, he did just that. Could he read your mind, as a God? You would ask him later.
He leaned upwards to kiss you again and you noted the shared taste of pollen on yours and his lips, driving you wild with need but he still seemed rather composed – as composed as someone could be with their fingers inside an utterly debauched looking woman in the privacy of their bedroom.
“You don’t… seem very affected by…”
“These flowers were born of my blood, they have no effect on me.” You could recall the story: a more tragic tale where he was tricked by a lover who seduced and attacked the God of love to retrieve an enchanted set of armour for the God of the sun – the lilies had grown upon the soil where Ezio’s blood had been spilled. Oh, and that hero who had been sent by the God of the sun? He never made it out with the armour which is likely why a statue wore it so smugly at the head of the dance hall in Ezio’s home.
“Great.” You whined out, feeling pathetically desperate for his touch, his mouth, anything.
“You doubt my stamina?” There was an amused smile on his face and the question was punctuated by the heel of his palm slamming into your clit with the following thrusts of his hand against your cunt, making you cry out and tangle your fists in the sheets.
“N-ne… ever…” You managed out between moans as you felt yourself on the brink of orgasm. Your body shuddered as he curled his fingers upwards more firmly, pressing down harder on that sweet spot with each push-in and withdrawal of his fingers from inside you.
It wasn’t long before you were seeing stars and your body was writhing in utter bliss. You whimpered when Ezio withdrew his fingers, suddenly feeling empty even though he had waited for the perfect time, letting you ride out your orgasm. You were absolutely ravenous for more of him, the pollen from the flower puppeteering your desire right back to its peaks.
You pulled the red tie from his dark hair, letting it fall loosely as his tongue lapped slowly at your drenched slit and you tried to pull him closer, to coax him to give you more, but it was fruitless as he continued to tease you with kitten licks.
You kept your grip on his hair and set your knee against his shoulder, pushing with all your weight to flip him onto his back, sitting upon his face and pushing your hips down against his mouth, having much more control of the pacing.
“Naughty little priestess.” He teased, though didn’t seem to mind your action much, his voice rumbling in his chest and you huffed before grinding your hips down against his face, showing him exactly what he wanted. His large hands came up to cup the softness of your ass, running his hands over plush flesh and squeezing as he set to work on teasing your clit, swiping the tip of his tongue over it a few times before setting his open lips over it and sucking down, making you arch your back and tilt your head backwards.
Between your own wetness and that from Ezio’s mouth, your cunt was an utterly drenched mess and you found yourself practically riding his face as you chased your second release, heart hammering against your ribcage, the sound of your pulse in your ears almost drowning out how unabashedly you were moaning.
He steadily built you up to your next orgasm and as you teetered on the edge, it felt as though he had been lavishing your clit with his tongue for hours and your body felt limp as you came, feeling how his tongue lapped against your entrance, drinking you up as though you were one of the fine wines you would leave at his altar.
Your world flipped as you were thrown onto your back and you took a moment to reorient your senses before your hands flew forwards to the God’s body that was covering you, pulling at the red velvet that hid his most intimate areas from your searching eyes. You couldn’t hold back the moan you let out at the first sight of his cock: hard and leaking precum. You reached forwards to wrap your hand around it, pumping a few times and almost shuddering at the groans it pulled from the God above you.
Your other hand came to his shoulder to pull him down over you, craning your neck up to crash your lips onto his as you guided him to your entrance.
“Eager, aren’t you?” He mused with a smile on his lips as he pulled his upper half away from you, making you whine and he couldn’t help but hold back a laugh at the sight of the golden pollen shimmering across the centre of your face, knowing that you were currently a slave to your desires all because of a little flower. He ran his hands down the insides of your thighs before laying on his back, patting his hip twice to invite you onto his lap, “Why don’t you show me how much you want it?” You didn’t need to be asked twice as you were quickly and you quickly swung your leg over his hips, settling on his lap and humming sweetly at how you had trapped his cock between his abdomen and your slick cunt, grinding down on it for a moment to feel the bursting sensations of pleasure each time his head nudged against your clit.
His hands curled around your hips to guide you upwards and you reached down to teasingly pump his cock a few times before guiding it into you, throwing your head back and biting your lip to stifle a moan at how full he made you feel as you slowly took each inch in. It made you realise how beyond ready that pollen had made you, dripping down his length and making a wet mess where your bodies met. Impatient, you quickly got to work on setting up a steady pace, drawing your body away from his until only the head of his cock was buried into your cunt and then taking all of him in again. Your nails raked down the hills of his abs as you increased your speed, seeing how Ezio’s eyes were fixed to the way your breasts moved with each heaved breath and thrust of your hips.
You let out a small yelp the first time he pushed his hips up to meet yours as they fell down, large hands curling around your hips as he continued to do so, hearing the slap of your skin meeting each time he did. “That’s it, little priestess, fuck yourself on your God’s cock.” His words went straight to your core. You leaned forwards onto your hands to support your weight as you felt that coil building up once more in your abdomen and you took a moment to ponder over how many times you would need to come before that pollen was flushed out of your system.
Your hips stuttered as you came undone again and you whimpered at the sudden feeling of emptiness as Ezio pulled you from his lap. Your body was turned over and you turned your cheek to lay against the softness of the mattress as your hips were pulled up and you released a wanton moan at the feeling of being full again as Ezio bottomed out inside of you. You whimpered at the feeling of his hands clutching your hips and pulling them back in time to meet how he pushed into you with such a force that it almost left you breathless, hearing him groan as he watched his cock sink into you and the movement of your soft ass each time he did.
“Need to cum again…” Was the only warning you could breathlessly let out as he pushed your upper half down firmly with a hand on your shoulder. Any other words became lost to you as you reached your high once more, head swimming with pleasure and feeling the stutter and still of Ezio’s hips against your as he finished within you.
You laid there for a moment, legs collapsing under you as you caught your breath, feeling the mattress dip beside you.
“You alright there, little priestess?” You heard his voice from beside you and you nodded your head, opening your eyes as you turned onto your side to face him, realising that he was handing you a silver, jewel-encrusted goblet. You gladly took it, propping yourself up on an elbow to take it, humming at the cool ice water in your mouth.
“I have duties to attend to.” You sighed as you got up on steady, albeit shaky, legs. It was the truth, you had to connect with the priests and priestesses in the temples of the God of erotic love, you had taken to it when you realised that there were means of doing so from this realm, acting as a guide of sorts.
“You should attend to them in the greenhouse.” The God mused as he reached for a bottle of wine that seemed to have appeared from nowhere.
“Perhaps, that would all depend on whether or not I’ll encounter more desire’s breath lilies in the greenhouse.” You shot him a knowing look as you collected your wet dress from the floor, feeling how cold the water was against your skin.
“You might.” He threw back with a devilish grin.
“I don’t need any more pollen. Though, you can come and seek me out in the afternoon once I’m finished should you wish.”
“I’m the God of sex, I’ll always seek you out to fulfil your desires, my little priestess.” You couldn’t bite back a smile as you made your way back to your room.

Wolves In Romé pt2
pt1 here
“I know, I know… believe me I know exactly what you are going through” Ezio could swear he heard a scoff in response
The wolf under him gave a soft whine as he fastened the last knot of the bandage onto the poor animal. He was glad all his fingers were left intact from this encounter...
”I would say you almost sat better than me on my first time” Ezio entertained himself as he talked to the wolf, fingers smoothing the bandage he wrestled onto the beast. “And I do mean the arrow, you horndog… or hornwolf”
His tone teased but Ezio was not lying with his compliments even if the animal could not understand him. The wolf had sat surprisingly still, not that he had wanted to be bit, but he was fairly certain wolves didn't just let you pet and bandage them so he had expected at least a nibble or some puncture marks to remember by.
And now that Ezio had done the basics of medicine, the fact that he was crouched next to a grown wolf that he just helped was entering into his brain fully …. he did not know where to go from there.
His fingers reached back up to the furry ears, digging them into the thick fur to scratch at the spot that got the wolf to close his eyes in a sigh.
Definitely not a normal wolf.
”You must have an owner, Cuccilio… You are trained at least to human touch aren't you?”
The amber eyes slowly opened back, focused directly to his own.
”Those freaks were chasing after you for a reason hmm? Were they your owners? Please don't tell me they were your owners”
The wolf just tilted his head and sneezed on his face. Rude.
”Yea okay, spray your nasty sylva over my face… not like I saved your hide or anything” He said as he crossed his brows in a fake anger. The reply he got was a soft huff and whack of a tail on his leg. As if the wolf was playing along with his ramblings.
Ezio’s voice was low and soft in the night “Now what to even do with you…”
———-
“No way!”
“I couldn’t leave him in the city!”
”Ezio… No way!”
”And If I leave him in the woods his wound will just get infected!”
”SO YOU BROUGHT IT HERE?”
Here, being the doorstep of Leo’s studio in the middle of the night.
”Well he did follow me all the way here… he is friendly Leonardo, I swear!”
Leonardo glanced at the monster with blood-soaked fur mouth…
“It’s a wolf Ezio! Wolves are not friendly.”
”I thought you would be excited to see one! You told me one time how you wanted to study them…” Ezio placed his hands on his hips and… pouted like the grown man he is.
Leo sighed. “Yes a DEAD one, the kind that won't maul me to death.”
”Well, good thing this one won't!”
Leo glanced at the bloody mess sitting right next to Ezio listening to their conversation calmly… weird.
”Merda…” He looked back at Ezio’s grinning face “Where did you even find him Ezio?”
The other man rocked on his feet “He was getting hunted by those crazed wolf worshippers on the street… So I-“
”You thought it was a dog at first and jumped in, didn’t you…?”
Ezio snapped his mouth shut and looked to the side down at his new friend.
”It was dark…”
A snort came from the wolf and it looked back at Ezio with what could be described as a wolf's best attempt at an eye-roll… again, weird.
Another sigh… Leonardo leaned on his doorframe and watched the two most dangerous beings in all of Italy standing at his doorstep in silence for a few seconds.
”You cannot leave me alone with it…”
”I wouldn’t dream of it!”
”not even a second!” “I won't, I promise!”
Ezios grin went bigger as he made a step to go into Leo’s workshop only to get stopped by a hand on his chest.
”I am not kidding Ezio, I do not want to be wolf food!”
This time the wolf's snort was directed at him. Did he understand them? No… animals are animals.
Ezio looked down and with his head gestured to it. “Come on Cuccilio, Leonardo decided to be kind to us… for now”
His third sigh of the night left him and he stepped back,
“If it was anyone else but you Mi Amico… but you need to clean him.”
Ezio’s shoulders dropped in relief.
“Thank you, Leonardo, I owe you one”
“You owe me so much I should just have access to your banking records.”
Ezio laughs as he walks past Leonardo, giving his shoulder a pat. “As if you already don't~”
Leo glared at his friend, almost forgetting about the giant beast till it walked past him like he already owned the place!
“Ay… it's going to be a long night”
He walked toward his wine stash.
—-----
He was finally clean, getting his face dried with a rough towel as he lay on the ground of the workshop.
Desmond was surprised Leonardo actually let them in. At this point, he was concerned both for Ezio and Leo’s rational thinking ability because he personally, under no circumstances, would allow a wolf covered in human blood into his home.
“Now, you are clean… as you can be at least, Cuccilio”
“Really? You are still going to call it a puppy?”
Ezio looked back to his friend who was sitting at his table sketching Desmond’s form on the ground. Getting used to having a wolf in his studio with the help of a glass or two.
Now that the initial shock, some-don't ask-how, was gone the artist was happy to get his observations.
“Well… he doesn't have a name-”
“And he should not, you will get attached the moment you name him Ezio.”
Ezio scoffed “No I wo-”
“Yes, you will.” Leo smiled down at his friend from where he sat, trying to get Desmond's back muscles right on his paper.
He was getting sketched by The Leonardo da Vinci, in his studio, as a wolf…
His tail thumped on the ground slowly.
“I get helping the poor thing, Ezio, but surely you aren’t planning on keeping him?”
Desmond’s ears perked up at that. Ezio put the dirty towel he used to wipe his face away. His other hand still underneath his maw, holding it lightly, while middle two fingers scratched lightly at a spot that gave Desmond’s tail a bit more speed.
Oh no… Desmond knew exactly what Ezio was thinking.
“I mean… I always wanted a dog.”
“Ezio-” Leo started but Ezio cut him off. “He is clearly not a normal one, Leo… took an arrow to the leg and didn't even try to nip when I ripped it out of him..”
His free hand joined to scratch his neck and even if baffled at his stupidity Desmond couldn't stop himself from leaning into it when it was digging into just the right spot.
“Look, he even lets me pet him. I don't think he is a wild one at all… most likely trained.” He looked back at his friend with a grin. “It's a tamed wolf, Leo! I mean-”
“Per l'amor di dio Ezio, You can barely look after yourself, do you have time for a pet? Let alone a wolf?!” His dear friend mused in a concerned tone.
Desmond looked back at Ezio who was still just petting him with a soft excited smile.
Oh no…He already made up his mind, didn’t he?
“Oh, who am I talking to…You already made up your mind the moment you brought him to my door didn't you Amico?” the only sane man in the room parroted Desmond’s thoughts.
Ezio turned to look back at his friend his smile turning to a sheepish grin. “Come on Leonardo… when will I ever come across an animal like this again?”
“And you plan on what? Making him a dog assassin? Teach him how to jump roof to roof?”
Desmond sneezed at the image that came to his mind of a wolf in an assassin getup.
“And does it even want to be kept?”
That made Ezio look back at Desmond, his face showing an expression that said he had not thought of that aspect… Desmond realized he also had not.
He did follow Ezio willingly to here almost automatically but he didn't need to stay here… he could just go, he should just go but… then what? Yes, he was a wolf now, but Desmond was human first and his mind was, surprisingly, still his.
He didn't know a thing about being a wolf! Would he survive? Did he even understand wolf talk or howl or whatever they do?
Did he want to be a wolf?
No, he thought.
He did not want to run through the woods every day hunting for a meal to not starve, sleeping in the open cold air, and waking up with no one to talk to.
No, he decided. He would not run to the woods.
“Bené… you make a good poi-” Ezio’s somber tone was cut off as Desmond slowly sat up, trying to not move his injured leg too much and plopped his head right on Ezio’s lap, nuzzling into his leg as he sighed softly. Looking up he met his eyes, rich brown ones looking back at him.
“Per carità… forget I even asked” Leonardo’s voice supplied in exhaustion.
Ezio’s grin returned full force, eyes twinkling like the first time he let him pet and Desmond found that he could get used to being a lapdog if it made Ezio this happy.
The three sat there in the night as Ezio’s hands found their way back to Desmond’s fur, Leonardo’s pencil strokes filling in the silence between them.
After a good while as Desmond’s eyelids grew heavier, he heard Ezio’s deep voice speak up again “Now can I name him?”
A well-repeated sigh came as an answer “What do you have in mind?”
“Something strong, a good Roman name for a good Roman wolf…”
Desmond’s ear twitched, half listening as the soft rumble of the assassin's voice lulled him to almost sleep.
“Aldobrandino…”

"Amore mio, we cannot keep doing this." Ezio paced across the wooden floor, running his hand through his hair. It was entirely dark out, and the room was lit by a single candle on the table. "You were gone two full days! I practically turned this city upside-down looking for you!"
"How was I supposed to know I was still seeing things!? I genuinely thought it would wear off before now!" Desmond was sitting in a common room chair; the dark circles under his eyes were accentuated by his washed out complexion. He had just come from a bath, otherwise he would still be coated in sweat and hay. "I thought after a few weeks everything would just go back to normal! Well. . ." Desmond gestured around at the Renaissance assassin's guild hall. "Normal being relative, and all."
Ezio pulled a chair over by Desmond and sat down, picking at the stray straws of hay still glued to Desmond's skin. "I know that you are just trying to keep active, but please. If I get another report of you passing out in an alley, or landing in the river, I swear to Christo I will go gray." He stopped and cupped his hands around Desmond's face. "Don't do this to me, Desmond. I'm too young for gray hair."
"Oh don't worry, it'll be just as popular with the chicks as ever." Desmond gave a *swish* of his imaginary long locks, but the motion made his head spin. He braced his arms against the table. "Though I personally have less interest in the grandpa-type."
"Molto bene, that means you should have a personal investment in not causing me any more stress!"
"You think it's stressful for you? You're not the one running an imaginary Boston Marathon every other weekday!" Desmond scoffed, and laid his head down on the table in such a way as to still be able to give Ezio the stink eye.
"You know that isn't how I meant it. I just wish I could convince you to stay safe." Ezio rocked his chair back, and set his heels on the corner of the table. "At the very least, until we have some kind of answer as to when these episodes occur, or why."
Desmond gave a deep, shuddering sigh. "What if we never get any such answer? What little I know about bleeds is that I originally got them from using the Animus. Except now, I've somehow traveled back through time, so who even knows what kind of effects that could cause."
Ezio pressed a finger to his forehead. "Wait a moment. What is the Animus?"
"Seriously? It's the device that showed me your memories. We talked about this a few days ago."
Ezio removed his feet from the table and sat upright, eyeing Desmond suspiciously. "And when was this again, exactly?"
"Why? I. . . I guess it was four days ago, now, so Thursday? I remember it was raining."
Ezio bit his lip and grimaced, then giving a deep exhale placed a gentle hand on Desmond's leg. "I had a contract in Forlì that day."
"No, no. You're kidding." Desmond pushed off of the table and sank down into the wooden chair, as if it could absorb the impact of this new revelation for him. Ezio couldn't have imagined Desmond getting any paler, but he had. "No. No no no no no Ezio I -"
"Hey, it's alright, you're alright, I just need you to breathe." Desmond was badly shaken by this point, and his legs had given out, leaving him sinking to the floor. Ezio grabbed hold of his shoulders, trying to ease his downward descent.
Desmond's voice cracked. "No, no, it's not alright!" He grabbed Ezio back, desperate for some kind of tether. "How can you stand there and tell me it's alright, just after telling me that you may not even be here!?!?"
"I am here, though. I'm here." Ezio wrapped his arms tightly around Desmond, holding him as close as he possibly could. What else could he do? "Just try to breathe."
And so the two sat there, as the candle burned down to a stump. Slowly, Desmond's shaking turned to shuddered breathing, which turned to deep breaths.
Ezio rubbed Desmond's shoulders. "It may not be much longer until daybreak. Do you think you are ready to try for some sleep?"
Desmond slumped forward, burying his face in Ezio's chest. "Honestly? I think I'm too exhausted to make it to bed. Here seems fine."
Ezio chuckled. "For you, perhaps, but I am a creature of comfort." With one of his arms still wrapped around Desmond's back, he slid the other one under Desmond's knees and stood up, carrying him off towards the bunks.
Desmond wrapped his arms around Ezio's neck. "My hero," he sleepily crooned.
"Don't sing my praises just yet, amò." Ezio shifted Desmond's weight, fumbling to turn the doorknob. "I may expect you to return the favor one day."
"What?!" Desmond gasped, playing up the dramatics. " 's not fair, you're much bigger than I am!"
"Is that meant as a compliment or an insult?"
"I dunno yet." Desmond yawned. "I'll decide later, when I need one or the other."
Soon enough, they both had clambered into bed, and were able to get some much needed sleep.
-----
Desmond spent the next few days occupying himself in the base. Besides helping sort through the dispatching of contracts, he got caught them caught up on some long overdue weapons orders and offered advice to whatever young assasin might come knocking. This was his favorite task. It was a reminder of a simpler time, of when he could stand behind a bar and just chat with people about whatever was ailing them. Except this was a little more murder-y. But having been a bartender in New York, it was not so much more murder-y as one might think.
But all the same, he was beginning to feel cooped up. And so he went to seek audience with the Mentorè, about perhaps being allowed on a group mission of some form.
There were two novices already in Ezio's office, a boy and a girl. They were likely discussing the details of an upcoming contract. Having already opened the door, Desmond knocked on the doorframe. Ezio waved him in.
"What can I do for you, Desmond?" Ezio propped his elbows up on the desk and clasped his hands, resting his chin on top of them.
"Oh, it can wait. Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt." Desmond glanced over at the novices, who in fairness, seemed unperturbed.
"So can this. Please, continue." Ezio leaned back in the chair, and the two young assassins stepped to the side.
Desmond cleared his throat. "With your permission, Mentorè," On this word he did a slight bow. Ezio rolled his eyes. "I would wish to be sent on a mission. As part of a group, of course," He hastened to add. "It's just. . . I don't do well feeling confined. And I'm about ready to go stir-crazy in here."
One of the novices smirked. "Is that different from the regular crazy somehow?" He asked. Desmond gave a dry, mocking laugh in response, but then turned back to Ezio and. . . Oh shit.
Desmond always knew that Ezio Auditore da Firenze was a dangerous man. He knew of all his great conquests, and had seen the fear in the eyes of his enemies. And yet somehow, to see the master assassin here and brimming with fury, it felt like the first time he really understood how terrifying such a man could be.
The other novice slapped the first upside the head, and then grabbed him by the wrist. "Thank you for the advice, Mentorè. We will send word as soon as we complete our task," She said, dragging him out the door, which closed firmly behind them.
Ezio took a deep breath, and settled back into his seat.
Desmond shuffled his feet. "Hey, so umm, you wouldn't have actually murdered that kid, right?"
"Fortunately, we will not have to find out." Ezio shot what he assumed was a comforting smile up at Desmond (it wasn't) and then rifled through some papers on his desk. "I actually have a mission that should suit you just fine. It should be straightforward, a matter of some scouting and interrogating a handful of people. There will be two others with you, and you will cover a fair bit of ground. Benè?" Ezio handed over a map with a few directions and way points marked on it.
Desmond nodded. "Yeah, benè. Thank you, Ezio."
"You're welcome. You leave in an hour. And Desmond," He continued, once Desmond had turned to leave. "I know you are highly skilled, but do still be careful."
"I will." Desmond walked back over to Ezio, then kissed him on the cheek and winked. "I promise."
Ezio kicked his boots up on the desk. "Oh, you are such a flirt."
"Well, I come by it honestly." And with that, Desmond left to make preparations.
-----
Desmond was sitting atop a window dormer, watching the surrounding area as another assassin prepared to 'talk to' a gang member in the alleyway below. A third assassin was perched on another neighboring rooftop, similarly spying for any potential complications. This was the method they had all decided on, and it had been working quite well. One person would go to meet the target, and the other two would remain above: out of sight so as to not cause any alarm, but close enough to drop into the fray should anything go awry. This was the last one on their list, and then they could all go back and herald their mission as a success.
He scanned the skyline. Besides the other assassin (whose name he had learned was Achille), there was no one visible up here. He peered down into the street. Piera (visible in blue) had just cornered in on the gang member (visible in gold). One or two of their targets had been willing to part with their information before it came to blows, but such instances were few and far between. Piera gave a quick display of her hidden blade, just to make her intentions and alliances clear.
As was typical, the conversation started with an exchange of thinly-veiled threats. "Next will come the unveiled threats, and then the diet violence," Desmond mused to himself.
The target started shouting. Desmond thought he heard another voice. He scanned the rooftops again, and this time saw a pair of guards off in the distance behind him. He looked back at Achille, who did not seem to react. "This again," Desmond muttered under his breath. He shifted to the right, and the guards were gone from his line of sight. "Please let that fix it." He turned back to watching the alley.
"You belong down in the street with the rest of the filth!" The voice was still distant, but it was definitely louder this time.
Desmond sighed. He turned to look behind himself, and saw the two guards from before making their way over, and a third guard climbing up behind them. "Just ignore them, and they'll go away," He said to himself. He turned back to the alleyway.
"Get down off this roof, or I will throw you off myself!"
Desmond scoffed. "I'd like to see you try. I think I'm finished throwing myself off of rooftops because of figments of my twisted imagination."
He heard another shout. This one wasn't from the target, or the illusory guard, but from Achille. "Desmond, look out!"
Desmond spun around, but not quickly enough, because a boot impacted him squarely in the chest, and he fell from the roof.
He desperately reached out, trying to grab hold of something to hang from. His right hand caught the wooden paneling of the window he was sitting above, but the wooden beam was brittle and snapped off, splintering under his fingernails. He yelled, and was unable to grab hold anywhere else.
Desmond's ankle rolled as he hit the ground, and he fell prone. The guard peered from the rooftop above, and apparently for the first time put together the implications of there being three hooded figures together. "Assassinos! Get them!" Well, so much for subtlety.
Piera ran over to help Desmond to his feet, and the gang member bolted. Desmond shook his head, and pulled himself up. "Don't worry about me, I can handle a few guards. Don't let the target get away!" He turned to face the building he had fallen from. The guards were already descending. He shifted his weight, and winced. Running's not an option. He readied his blade.
Desmond lunged at the first guard to get his boots on the ground. He hadn't yet pulled his sword, so Desmond easily grabbed hold of him, sliding the hidden blade between his ribs. Unfortunately, the next two landed with their swords already drawn, and Desmond could hear more footsteps fast approaching. "Shit, how many of you are there?"
He heard a shriek from above, and looked up just in time to dodge a guard falling from the rooftop, an arrow lodged in his chest. He landed with a dull, wet thud. Desmond spared a glance up towards Achille, who was already nocking another arrow. "Oh, this should be a peace of cake, then."
Desmond crossed blades with the two guards closest to him, parrying and deflecting their attacks. One of them leaped forward with an arcing swing of their sword. Desmond dodged under and to the side of the swing, then came around behind the off-balance guard, slitting his throat.
Another shriek, another thud. Desmond easily dispatched his next opponent, sweeping him off his feet and then skewering him where he fell. But the next guards approached together, and Desmond had to shift his focus to defense again.
Shriek, thud. One of the guards tried to bring his sword down on Desmond's head, who used both blades to intersect it. In the sword's reflection, Desmond saw another guard coming from behind him. "I've got you now, assassino!" Desmond shoved his current attacker off and spun around, swinging his blade in a wide arc. But as soon as his blade hit the guard's chest, he disappeared into mid-air.
Desmond growled. "Are yOU KIDDING ME!?!?!"
Shriek, thud.
A low chuckle from one of the guardsmen. "Jumping at shadows, boy? Ready for someone to put you out of your misery?" Desmond turned on his heel and lunged for the unlucky dastard's face, plunging both of the hidden blades deep into his eyesockets.
What few guards remained turned tail and ran.
Shriek, thud. Desmond turned once again to Achille, who was now clambering down the building, bow in hand. "They were already running, y'know."
Achille landed on the street, and shrugged. "They picked the fight. The least they could do is have the decency to see it through."
Desmond chuckled, then rubbed his shoulder. "Well, whether Piera caught the target or not, by now, she'll be heading back to base. We should be, too." He looked down at his swelling ankle. "No crazy parkour shit though."
-----
Ezio was pacing back and forth across the wooden floor, combing his hand through his hair. Piera had gotten back with her report on the mission two hours ago. He had already sent ten otherwise idle assassins out searching for Desmond, and he was deliberating about sending more.
"He has returned!" Came a voice from the door.
Ezio raced to the door. His stomach lurched when he saw Desmond, covered in blood and limping, except. . . He was also smiling? There he was, covered head-to-toe in blood, and grinning ear-to-ear!
"Desmond? Are you. . ." He looked Desmond up and down. Bloody. Beaming. "Did you hit your head?"
"Ezio!" Desmond threw his arms up wide, flinging blood on the assassins unfortunate enough to be standing near him. "No, I'm just fine! Well, I wrecked my ankle, but not nearly so much as I wrecked all of the guards!"
Ezio laughed. "So, you determined that what you needed was catharsis, and that any guard would suffice?"
"Well no, actually," Desmond responded a bit sheepishly. "I let them get the drop on me, believing they weren't real."
Ezio very abruptly stopped laughing. "You WHAT -"
"Can we discuss it later? I know it's a problem, but I'm currently riding a high, and I would like to enjoy it."
Ezio started to object, but instead wrapped an arm over Desmond's shoulders. "Later then." He lifted his arm, and stared in horror at the gloopy mess now dripping from it. "Dio mio, someone needs to give you a bath."
Desmond smirked. "Are you volunteering?"
-----
I don't ever think of myself as a creative person, so I am ABSOLUTELY blaming @sulfies that I have done this again, lol. I hope you enjoyed though! Much less bleed effect whump this time around, and much less re-reading to check that it makes sense, lol. Hyperfixation + insomnia = I wrote another story, but now it's a quarter to six in the morning and I may low-key hate myself tomorrow (today?). Thanks for reading!

365 May 3-6
After a point Desmond just came to the understanding that his life was weird and he really didn't feel like arguing with it anymore. Coming back from the dead? Near death? Limbo? Whatever did that to a person. He was so beyond his life throwing arguably impossible shit at him.
"I'm home," he said looking at the living room of his apartment that absolutely should not fit as many people in it as it did. And yet.
The first week it'd happened he was sure he was having a new mental break down. But no. That'd have been a reasonable explanation for a bunch of murderers showing up at his door looking like people out of a ren fair. He didn't know why they were there. They didn't know why they were there. When Desmond asked they just grabbed his blackened hand or arm. They were drawn to it. Somehow? For some reason?
Seven languages all roughly saying, "Welcome back," came in a chorus. They could all understand him at least. Whatever fucked up magic or whatever had given him that at least so he didn't have to sift through seven different tongues in his head to pull out the one he wanted.
"I brought bread," he said which got everyone interested. He didn't anticipate people from previous centuries to be picky eaters but they absolutely were. And that didn't even cover Ezio's insanely high standards for olive oil, which he basically drank. But everyone ate bread. Thank god. He always had to go down a few blocks for an actual bakery because of course they wouldn't eat store bread. The bakery knew him on sight now since he'd been going there every other day for a month and bought the exact same arrangement of bread. When they saw him coming in they just packed up his order for him.
"Everyone get their shit done while I was gone?" he asked amid some talking. Some of them could communicate but it was a near thing. Some of them even spoke English, which was cool.
"It was boring, but yes," Ezio said.
"Good. Who wants to make dinner?" Desmond asked, going into the kitchen and taking the bread out.
"Everyone stop looking at me," Evie said. "Just because I'm a woman."
Desmond didn't engage while Jacob was defending his sister's honor, or whatever. After a bit of bickering he called out, "Fine then we're all going to be unhappy and Altair will cook." There was some groaning.
"Fools," Altair said and Desmond was the only one who understood. He got up from where he was sitting on the floor and entered the little kitchen with Desmond. "My cooking isn't that bad... now," he added. Altair, like the rest of them, were not how Desmond remembered them from the memories as mostly wild and blood thirsty twenty-somethings. They were all older. In their thirties or forties. It was still weird seeing Altair in a beard. At least he wore it better than Ezio.
"Yeah you don't burn my pans now," Desmond said. Desmond still helped him figure out what to do. They all knew how to use the appliances by now but other than Connor, Bayek, and Evie none of them had ever had to cook for themselves until they'd shown up in Desmond's life. But like good Assassins they all took to instruction quickly and Desmond just had to tell them what to do and they figured it out.
"How much longer are we staying here?" Arno had come around to the kitchen while Altair was cutting onions with freakish laser precision. Desmond wasn't sure Altair couldn't understand French but he always acted like he couldn't so he didn't push it.
"I dunno. Until you guys fucking leave?" Desmond said. Who knew when that would be. Who knew why that would be or how!
Arno gave him an annoyed look. "I know that. But this is unsustainable," he motioned to the living room which had all the furniture shoved into the corners to make enough room for everyone to sleep. Desmond's bedroom also had some sleeping space on the floor. "Even at our lowest this is too much."
"Well if I want to break my lease I need to pay a fee. And then I have to find a new place that I can afford. And if you guys all fucking vanish one day I'm going to be in a big place all by myself unable to pay. I don't mind having roommates from former head mates but actual normal people? I'd rather die."
"That can be arranged," Altair said behind him.
"Shut it, you," Desmond frowned at him but Altair wasn't even looking at him.
Arno was also frowning. "Well perhaps it would be more useful if we put our minds to figuring out what happened to bring us here instead of what you have us doing."
"If you want to go ahead but I can't afford to feed someone who isn't helping," Desmond said, folding his arms. Because magic that they could all understand his spoken English they could also understand written English. Desmond had found all of them some reasonable paying translation gig work. Desmond knew they all hated it but also had no idea what to do in this century, let alone how to cross a street without almost being run over by a car.
Arno also folded his arms and mirroring Desmond. "I am not a stranger to hardship. But I'm tired of waking up with someone's feet in my face. Also Jacob snores; loudly," he put a pained look on his face.
Desmond grimaced. He could sympathize. Before he could keep going with Jacob Altair tugged his sleeve. He turned around. "Is this right?" and it was still so baffling hearing a hard ass like Altair ask him something so kindly.
Desmond looked over the chopped vegetables Altair had in the pan. He'd added raisins. Always with the fucking raisins with Altair. "Looks fine. Don't cook it too long or it'll turn to mush." He turned back to Jacob. "Look I'm not unsympathetic. I just don't know what to do myself," he said.
"Can we help you? Clearly we're supposed to be here? So we should help you."
Desmond sighed, "I would love that but none of you know how to use a computer."
"... A what?"
"Exactly."
"Is that the little glass tablet you carry around with you?" Arno asked.
"Yes."
Arno looked conflicted. "It seems... confusing but I'm willing to figure it out if it gets me into an actual bed."
"Fine," Desmond said and already knew it was going to give him a headache. "This weekend when I'm free."
Arno smiled. "Great," and he walked off.
Desmond sighed dramatically. "Punk," Altair grumbled, or about as close an approximation as Desmond could translate out.
"I knew you could speak French," and Desmond punched his arm.
"My wife is French, of course I can," Altair said with a grunt. "His accent is so snooty. I hate it."
"He's Parisian," Desmond said.
"No wonder he sounds like a prick," Altair grumbled and Desmond laughed.
--------
Having seven people crowding your space while trying to use your laptop was... something. It sure was something. Somehow they all managed to perch around him without getting in each other's way too and were all staring intently at the screen. Desmond had been talking to them, very slowly, for about three hours now explaining how a computer worked. He typically had all their translation work printed out and then on his days off typed it all into the programs or emails for the clients.
Surprisingly the one who seemed to understand it the best were the two old guys Altair and Bayek. Bayek was especially insane because he was from before the common era. Like the numbers ticked down on the grand time line of human civilization from where Bayek was from. Desmond wasn't particularly surprised by Altair who'd had his head in the future through the Apple for decades. That didn't mean either of them were good at it but they asked the least questions when he asked if they understood.
"I think that's about as much as I can just explain. You have to try it now. Who wants a go?" Desmond asked. He expected Arno to immediately volunteer. Hadn't he been the one excited to help him find a new apartment?
"I do," Bayek said.
"Weren't they still playing with sticks and rocks in your time?" Jacob asked, not knowing what Bayek was saying but getting the idea. Evie smacked his arm, hard, making him complain.
"Sit," Bayek sat. "It's light, hold onto the keyboard area so it doesn't fall off your lap," Desmond said and put the laptop on Bayek's crossed legs. There was a moment of confusion as Bayek figured out how to use the touch pad but then he got it. "I'm surprised you're at all good with this," Desmond said casually.
His answer absolutely floored Desmond. "This is nothing compared to the Isu ruins." Desmond hadn't personally lived through Bayek but he'd been told the story. Bayek was really good at telling stories. "That is actual confusing shit."
"What'd he say?" Ezio asked.
"He said it's nothing compared to Those Who Came Before," he said. "Didn't know Egypt had that sort of tech involvement with the Isu," he said thoughtfully.
"Ask him if it's as easy as it appeared when you did it," Arno said.
Desmond did and relayed it back while Bayek was clicking around on the computer and internet. "He said it's like reading a scroll where the words and pictures move with your thoughts."
"How poetic," Arno said.
"I also wanna try," Evie said.
"Yes, and I," Ezio said.
"Give him a few minutes," Desmond said.
"The keyboard is... confusing. I know what these letters mean but their arrangement is-- quite stupid," Bayek said.
"Yeah, basically," Desmond agreed.
"It also hurts my eyes."
"Yeap. It'll do that too," and he took the laptop back. Then Evie got to mess around with it while Bayek rubbed his eyes. He hadn't blinked the entire time. Then it was Ezio's turn once she'd had a go at it.
"Is there a way to see these mmm- webbed sites in Italian?" Ezio asked.
"Sort of? Just type into the text box in Italian. It should pull up Italian sites."
Watching Ezio pick and poke through what he wanted to ask Google was excruciating. "Ha! Italian," and he scrolled through the search results. Desmond leaned over to see what he was looking at.
"Hey!" Desmond snatched the laptop away. He switched into Italian himself to scold him and god he sounded a lot like Claudia by the way Ezio wilted. "Don't look up boobs on my fucking laptop. Of course I leave you alone for a minute and you're trying to see some tits. What are you? Seventeen again?"
He was going to have to put child locks or something on this thing so these Assassins didn't give his laptop a fucking virus looking up porn. "What can I say. I'm a man of simple pleasures?" Ezio said with a wry grin.
"Banned," Desmond pointed at him in annoyance.
He let everyone try out the laptop. No one was as taken with it as Bayek and Connor somehow almost broke it. Arno at least came away from the lesson and hands on part being slightly confidant in using it. Everyone also complained it hurt their eyes. Because none of them blinked while using the laptop. Blue light was hell of a thing.
They dispersed after that. Bayek, who still sat next to him, said, "Can you show me more things?"
"Sure? Like what?"
"I want to know what happened to Egypt," he said. "And the Romans. And the Greeks. Are they still around?"
"Well Ezio is what you could call Roman," Desmond said slowly. "He lived in Rome, the city, for a while."
"Is Rome no longer an empire?"
Desmond chuckled, "Buddy, they wish."
"... I would like to see what made Rome fall," he said, not in a sad way but rather he was very interested. "And what happened to Julius," his eyes narrowed.
"You're going to love what happened to Cesare," Desmond said and pulled up some wikipedia articles. He showed Bayek how to navigate the site, what the colors meant, what the little numbers next to words meant, and the sources at the bottom. After that Bayek was glued to it. "And make sure you blink," Desmond added. Bayek nodded.
Desmond got off the couch and wandered into his room, flopping down onto his bed. That had taken so long. He picked up his phone and looked at it. It was only mid afternoon. He had a few missed texts. It looked like they were from work. He ignored them. He wasn't paid enough to answer texts on his day off.
----
Desmond was used to being watched at this point even if he couldn't see them. Didn't bother him. This time when he looked across the Goodwill it was Jacob staring right at him looking like he was dying while Evie was trying to find some clothes. Seemed that even after a few hundred years brothers still would rather die than shop with their sisters. He chuckled to himself and went back to ignoring him.
Desmond was more concerned with convincing Bayek and Connor that no they couldn't just walk around shirtless or tank tops all the time.
"But it will get in the way of my movement," Bayek said about the long sleeved shirt Desmond was trying to get him in. It was summer so was pretty warm and Bayek had never existed in any sort of cold weather in his life. His logic was sound for Egypt.
"Yeah but you can't enter most stores without a shirt, dude," Desmond said. Connor was more accepting of full shirts having grown up around Westerners but Desmond remembered being in his head. He always felt too big for in his clothes. Especially Achilles' old uniform that he'd nearly ripped several times from just how thick his arms were.
"But it's hot out. We don't need sleeves until later in the year," Connor said.
"What'd he say?" Bayek asked and Desmond repeated it. Honestly a lot of the time he was just repeating what everyone said so any two of them could hold a conversation. "Why would the time of year matter?"
"Winter?"
"... What is that?"
Desmond pinched the bridge of his nose. "Think like the flood season but instead it gets cold."
"It would get cold in Egypt sometimes," Bayek said.
"No like water turns into ice," Desmond explained.
"But it's not like that now? And there's so much clothes here surely I won't want for them," Bayek said. Everyone had been pretty stunned when Desmond had brought them to Goodwill and it was just filled with more clothes than any of them had seen in one place.
"In winter cold weather clothes tend to go quick," Desmond said.
"Hmm-
"Desmond," he looked over at Evie's voice as she came through the aisle. Jacob was sulking a ways away.
"Sup."
"My brother is useless as ever. I need input on these modern clothes," she said.
"Sure."
Evie showed him two shirts. They looked pretty nice and were fairly subdued, which he expected. One was a feathery blouse, the other was a thin sweater. They complimented her skin color. Desmond didn't know a lot about fashion but he'd seen enough women come into a bar to know what was good. "Which one?"
"I like them both," Desmond said.
"That is not helpful," she said.
Desmond reached over and grabbed the tags. They were both five bucks each. "Do you like them?"
"Yes."
"Then you can get both-
"What?" she asked, confused. "But these are so fancy and high quality," she said. Desmond knew the Industrial Revolution had been going on during Evie's time but fast fashion was a hell of a thing.
"It's fine, they're just a few dollars-
"That's expensive! Are you sure?" she asked.
He chuckled. "Yeah. If you like them we can get them. Make sure you find some bottoms you like too to match."
"Are you really sure?" she asked.
"Yes. And tell your brother to stop looking like a creep and pick out some clothes too," Desmond said.
She rolled her eyes. "He knows no other way. But yes, thank you," she held the clothes to her and walked off.
"Those are expensive though, are you sure?" Connor asked. He understood modern money better than Bayek who was ignoring them and looking at clothes.
"It's about the equivalent of fifteen cents," Desmond said, knowing Connor would understand that.
"Oh! Really?"
"Yeah. Inflation is hell of a thing-- don't worry about it, it's economics," he told Connor who just looked so confused.
"I think I like this one," Bayek said and Desmond sighed when he pulled out the most Dad shirt he could have found. It was a tie die tank top. "Finally something brightly colored. This time is so drab," he scoffed. The worst part was Desmond knew he'd absolutely wear it.
"Okay," Desmond said, defeated. Then he groaned at the sound of some very angry Arabic a few rows over. "Now what?" he looked and saw Ezio harassing Altair about... something? "Excuse me. Before Altair kills his biggest fan boy," Desmond said. "Find a shirt that fits you, Connor," he told Connor and went over to where Altair very nearly had his hands on Ezio's neck.
Desmond easily slotted himself between the two of them. "What's this about?" he asked.
"Ezio says I dress like a woman," Altair pointed at Ezio furiously.
"... What? Also how do you know what he's saying?"
"He's just speaking a different version of Latin," Altair said. "That isn't the point!"
Desmond turned to Ezio. "Did you say he's dressing like a girl?"
"I said he'd look like a fancy lady with his dress," Ezio said and yeah Desmond got why Altair was about to kill him.
"Take like twenty steps back while I defuse this bomb you made," Desmond told Ezio.
"I resent that," Altair growled at him.
Ezio did step back and Desmond turned around to him. "So what did he get you about?" Altair raised a shapeless dress that was very much a dress but it was also shaped like a thobe which was traditionally exactly what an old guy like Altair would wear. "Looks like a thobe to me," Desmond said, realizing what Altair was going for.
"Yes. That's what I tried to tell him."
"But it's a dress too."
"So?"
"Look I don't care," Desmond raised his hands before Altair bit his head off. "You'll get looks if you wear that though and I know you hate being perceived." Altair grimaced at that. "If you want a thobe I'll order you one or find one at a Middle East bodega or something but you should just find some pants and a shirt." Altair huffed in annoyance. "Yeah I know, you hate rules. Get over it," Desmond rolled his eyes.
"I am more annoyed you know me better than myself at times," Altair grumbled, arms folded. "Same as the rest."
"Trust me I really wish I didn't. Either way, we can still get it if you want but I would suggest pants."
"Fine," Altair huffed.
"Connor, Connor," he heard Bayek calling from the end of the aisle. At the least that was something they could do. Desmond watched Connor join Bayek down the aisle and Bayek triumphantly held up an old sleeveless Laker's jersey. Desmond snickered imagining Connor's face of horror at the yellow and purple monstrosity. Connor for his part waved his hands like he didn't want it.
An hour or so later Desmond was finally in line for check out with the others. Evie had taken what he'd said to heart and found a bunch of stuff but everyone else was still too stunned by the variety to pick more than three or four pieces. The cashier was pleasant and had clearly seen weirder shit than a guy like Desmond shepherding a bunch of adults forward to have their clothes rung up and then put into individual bags. The total wasn't even that bad for buying clothes for seven people. The more modern Assassins still gasped or gagged at the price but Desmond didn't flinch at the hundred and seventy dollar price tag.
"That had to be wrong," Connor said once they were leaving.
"What was?" Desmond asked.
"The price-
"You said not to worry. That was a fortune!" Evie cried.
"It was like five dollars," Desmond said.
"That's not what the cash register said," Evie insisted.
"It's the equivalent of five dollars," Desmond rolled his eyes.
"Seriously?" Jacob asked.
"Yes. Seriously."
"That's still a lot of money," Arno said.
"For seven people buying clothes that is a steal. I've seen people buy a single shirt for five dollars," and he chuckled when Evie, Jacob, Arno, and Connor looked appropriately disgusted. Bayek, Ezio, and Altair just looked confused.
"Are these dollars worth a lot?" Ezio asked as they walked down the sidewalk.
"I do not have the brain power to convert to florins," Desmond groaned. "Or dinars or deben across like a thousand plus years okay?" he asked. "Like a shilling?"
"Ah," Ezio nodded.
"If you aren't worried about it neither am I," Bayek said.
"Sounds like a bunch of poor people to me," Altair said, specifically in Latin.
"I would agree," Ezio said absently. Desmond slapped his hand over his face.
"I wasn't poor. That's still a lot," Arno said in something recognizing Latin. Both Ezio and Altair laughed at him. "What?"
"Your accent," Desmond said.
"What of it?"
"Sounds like he's talking without moving his lips," Ezio chuckled. "Open your mouth when you speak," he said loudly. "Or speak with your hands. I can understand you better if you do," and he did indeed wave one hand while talking.
"Can we not do this?" Desmond groaned as they got to the parking lot. He'd rented an actual van for the day just to avoid public transport. He'd gotten them all on a bus or subway individually as they'd appeared but he didn't want to have to watch all of them at once on a subway. He knew somehow, someway, someone would get lost and he didn't want to hunt down an Assassin in a big city. Especially not these guys who could be... a bit stab happy if you bothered them too much. Well except Connor.
They all loaded into the van and Desmond reached into the center console to grab the single dose of pain killers he'd made sure to bring with him. Because he knew and had been right; by the end of this shopping trip he could feel the start of a headache. "Okay everyone buckled in?" Desmond turned around once he'd taken the pain killer. There was still some confusion about buckles for Bayek but Jacob had gotten it for him. They all gave him a thumbs up to cut down on the cacophony. "Great. Who wants lunch?" More thumbs up. "How about McDonalds?"
"What's that?" Jacob asked.
Desmond chuckled. "You'll see," he said and backed the car out of the parking spot and drove off from Goodwill.
-----------------
Desmond was looking over rental listings drinking his morning coffee in bed. Altair and Bayek were both on a blow up mattress on the floor. He'd bought a few over the past month but there was still only so much room. It was going to be so expensive to move. Thankfully now that everyone could operate the laptop or tablet now they could input their own gig work so could do more so long as they weren't blinded by boredom. A single bedroom apartment wasn't enough for eight full grown adults.
There wasn't much reasonable in the city itself but outside the city he could rent a full house. That was doable. And about as expensive as his current apartment actually. He scrolled listings on his phone but did consider just picking a neighborhood outside of the city and calling a realtor to find him a rental house. He didn't even care what it was.
He knew it was light out because Bayek woke up. He was punctual and even with the curtains over the windows Bayek always woke up at dawn. He sat up blearily. "Coffee?" it was the one English word he could say because the word didn't exist in any language he knew. It wouldn't have been invented for another sixteen hundred years for him. Didn't mean he hadn't immediately become addicted just like everyone else.
"Full pot in the kitchen," Desmond said, sipping his mug.
Bayek got off the inflatable gingerly and left the room. Desmond didn't have the heart to tell him no matter how careful he was about it Altair always woke up after he left. On the bed Altair huffed, awake now as well. "You could just go back to sleep," Desmond said.
"No," Altair said softly and that tracked. He sat up. "Do you ever worry?"
"I grew up in the twenty first century, my entire body is just made out of anxiety," Desmond said.
Altair grimaced. "I mean why we're here?"
"Nope."
"Really?"
"Nope."
"Why not?"
"After the shit I've seen this isn't even the worst of it," Desmond said, sipping his coffee, barely paying attention to Altair.
"How is that possible?"
Desmond looked at him now. "I died, you know," he said casually, like discussing the weather. The only indication that had actually happened was his left arm was fucked up beyond belief. "And coming back from death? Nothing really bothers you," he shrugged. "Certainly not some old head mates."
"Which you won't tell us what that means," Altair said.
Desmond shrugged. "Better that way."
"So you really don't care? Why we're here? Where we came from?"
"Not even a little," Desmond was done looking at rentals. He'd just call a realtor, get them to find him a three bed two and a half bath with a yard. He switched over to Twitter. Perfect turn your brain off activity.
They sat in the dark quiet of Desmond's room for a bit. "What's it like, being dead?" Altair asked after a few minutes. Desmond didn't answer him. "Desmond?" he looked over because Altair's voice was close. He had moved to be next to Desmond's bed.
"You should know what death is like, you've killed more people than me," Desmond said off handedly.
"I've sent people to the afterlife. I've never been to one. The others have grand Catholic ideas. Bayek said he fought gods in his afterlife. But you've died. What's that like?"
"Nothing," was all Desmond said.
"It was nothing?"
"Sure. We'll go with that."
Altair scowled at him. "You're being annoyingly obtuse, young man," he growled.
Desmond looked right at him. "Don't with me," he said in a serious way. It must have been plain on his face because Altair didn't press the subject.
Light spilled in from the living room when Bayek opened the door but it was Ezio behind him who spoke up, "Desmond, Jacob drank all the coffee and there's no more left."
"I made a pot. How'd he drink an entire pot?" Desmond groaned. "Also I know you idiots know how to use the coffee machine."
"No powder," Bayek said in his Dad tie dye tank top.
Desmond sighed. "Okay I'll go to the store," he got out of bed and rummaged around for some pants. Ezio and Bayek left the doorway. "Jacob," he yelled into the main room, "you're coming with me for drinking all the coffee."
"I didn't do shit!" Jacob yelled back.
"You better be dressed when I get out there or I'm dragging your ass to the corner store in your skivies!" and it was a real threat. Desmond changed his shirt and his dead beat dad would have been so proud of him tucking his long sleeved shirt in all the time now. He didn't like it rising up when he lifted his arm, you could see the death damage on his flank too, horrible thick black veins and old burst capillaries. He also always wore a glove now.
Jacob was fuming standing in the living room when Desmond came out of the bedroom but he was fully dressed. The inflatable mattresses had been put away already and the only person with coffee was Bayek since he'd woken up first. "I didn't even drink it all," Jacob complained. "Ezio just says whatever he wants and you believe it."
"Contrary to what he thinks its because the guy can't lie to save his life. Least of all to me," Desmond said. "Now stop complaining," he pulled on his shoes.
When he opened the door to walk out he almost bumped into someone. It was a woman. She was tall for a woman with ash brown hair and old eyes wearing an insanely sharp pant suit. "Veronica?" Jacob said next to him.
"Jacob?" she said with an accent Desmond couldn't place.
"Holy shit what are you doing here?" Jacob asked.
The woman, Veronica?, looked at Desmond, then at Jacob, "That's my question." She looked over Desmond's shoulder then back at Desmond, her eyes wide in an expression just from the way she held herself Desmond took as she wasn't surprised easily. "What are they doing here?"
"Uh... they're my friends?" Desmond said, confused by the line of questioning also who the fuck was this lady? For a moment he thought she was like the others but there was no befuddlement to her, no wide eyed bewilderment. They'd all appeared looking out of time and place. She was not. She was something else.
"Who's at the door?" Ezio came around. "Ah? Maria?" he asked.
"You also recognize her?" Desmond asked.
"That's Veronica," Jacob said. Now the others were coming around.
Desmond looked at the woman who was looking right back. "You also shouldn't be here," she said and it stuck him right in the chest.
"Well that's rude," Evie said. "Don't be mean to our friend, Veronica."
"Do you all recognize this lady?" Desmond asked the Assassins and stepped back into his apartment. He felt better being surrounded by them. Whoever or whatever she was wouldn't be able to fight off seven Master Assassins.
"Of course."
"She was our friend."
"She helped me."
"She knew my father."
"She helped me complete my mission."
They all said almost at once. What the actual fuck? He'd never seen this lady in any of the memories he had but apparently they all knew her. She was a friend. They all knew her by a different name though. "What are you doing here, Melite?" Altair was the only one asking a serious question.
The woman just sort of smiled apologetically. "My name is Kassandra actually," she said. Then she looked at Desmond. "I think we need to talk."
---------
And… that’s it lol Oops sorry If you want to see other scenes maybe suggest some? We should talk about it

Howdy there! I made a thing! I never posted that I finished this, but boy howdy did I finish this! I’m genuinely surprised to say, but my ten years too late Lezio fic is in the top ten biggest fics in the whole of Ao3 for the AC Fandom and also the largest Lezio fic at all. I am so, so proud of this fic. Do you like angst? Do you like domestic bliss? Do you like pining, lemons, whump, romance, idiots to lovers, and idiots in love, and bottom Ezio? then boy howdy do I have the fic for you!
Stop by. Give it a read! I hope you like it!

How the Assassins (and some Templars) would be on your birthday:
Ezio Auditore
He'd likely wake you up with some morning "exercises", and take you on a stroll/ride through your favorite places
A candlelit dinner atop a building overlooking the sunset to finish the day with some fancy wine
Would give you anything you'd wanted, including but not limited to a portrait of the two of you done by Leonardo (you'd thank the little artist later)
Rose petals leading up to your room
Leonardo Da Vinci
Honestly, he's the type to just let you lead the day. Shopping? He's there with you paying for what he can. A boat ride? Of course!
Would be sweet the whole day, holding your hand with a dopey little grin as he followed you
Flowers, your favorite chocolates, art supplies if you're that way inclined
Connor Kenway
You're very special to him, and he makes you feel it on your birthday
He'd get someone to make you a cake (he tried and nearly burnt the house down in the process)
Flowers by your bedside as he woke you up with sweet kisses
He'd go to town with you if you really wanted to go
Or ride around the homestead all day and show you some beautiful places he's found
Wouldn't let you do any work for the day
He'd end it all by holding you close as he gifted you a little carved animal (your favorite), and a necklace he'd bought one day with your favorite stone set in it
Edward Kenway
Would also wake you up with "exercise"
He'd sail around with you, letting you tell him where to go
He may even let you steer the Jackdaw for a bit
You'll likely not remember much, as you'll be drunk for most of the night
Would give you all kinds of jewelry the he's obtained on his voyages
James Kidd/Mary Read
They're a romantic through and through. And extravagant
Would wake you up sweetly, but it'd turn spicy
Down to do whatever you want, be it a picnic or drinking at a pub, they're happy
Gifts would be thoughtful, plus some jewelry and the like
Shay Patrick Cormac
See morning "exercise"
A romantic, Shay would have the whole day planned out for you
He'd sail you somewhere nice, and have a home-cooked meal awaiting somewhere quiet
Would take you back to the fort for a surprise party with a small band of folk playing music
Liam O'Brien
Assuming he isn't gone off on a mission, he'd likely take you shooting with him
He'd buy you sweets and just be sweet the whole day
Would dance with you in a clearing somewhere
His gifts would probably be practical, like some new gloves or something
Haytham Kenway
Prepare to feel like royalty for a day
He'd spare no expense for your birthday
The best food, the finest imported wine, best clothing he could find, all of it's yours
Don't think about lifting a finger, either
Breakfast in bed, followed by an extravagant ball in your honor
Jacob Frye
CHAOS from the moment your eyes opened
Tried to make you breakfast, set it on fire
Takes you around London
A surprise dinner (the Rooks set it up for him) on top of Big Ben
Would get Evie to help him with some flowers
You'd end up drunk, laughing, and happy
My birthday is the 28th this month (December), so this is my gift to myself. If you want anyone added, let me know. These are all kinda short, sorry. I've got a heck of a migraine at the moment. Probably doing some for the Red Dead boys next. And yes, I used gender neutral pronouns for James/Mary. Sue me

Her Old Man
Pairing: Revelations!Ezio x F!Reader
Warnings: harassment, some violence (some slaps), ezio gets called old, protective!ezio, angry!reader, non-canon compliance with revelations
Summary: Someone decides to harass you and insult your husband - without realizing who he is.
Author's Notes: heeey! i love me some protective trope so here it is. i have not played revelations but i have watched the video of Duccio hitting on Sofia (the idiot) 😂 so this fanfic is sorta based on that. enjoy your read!
requests for ezio are still open!
Tumblr media
You loved shopping with Ezio: he always got the best discounts and treatment from merchants in town. Your husband never rushed you or sounded uninterested in the shops. To be honest, you were a little worried about Ezio's spending. Ezio liked to gift you everything you showed a slight hint of interest in it.
"I want you to have everything you want," Ezio argued every time you opened your mouth to complain.
That warm afternoon, you casually stroll between the shops with Ezio behind you. When the vendors recognize you, they announce their products, excited. Most to you than to Ezio. You end up buying two new paints at the Art Shop. Next, Ezio decides to check the Weapon Shop. While your husband checks the new arrivals, you check a small dress shop just in front.
You are amazed by the dresses on display: they all look like expensive pieces of art. You look behind your shoulder, and Ezio still looks focused, so you touch a red dress with black details.
"Interested in the dress?"
You turn around, facing the happy face of a young man dressed in a very fancy outfit. Judging him to be the seller, you smile and nod.
"They are so pretty! But I am just admiring that is all."
The young seller smiles back at you. You turn back to the dress, admiring how rich the fabric is. You thank mentally Ezio has yet to notice you. If he saw you like this, he would already have bought it.
"Money is the problem?"
"Not exactly," Which isn't an actual lie.
"I could give him to you. For a very low price."
You turn to the seller and notice he has gotten closer to you. You shake your head, smiling politely and deciding to leave.
"I have too many dresses already. "
"Come on, no woman has too many dresses. I can give you an excellent deal! I could put two or three of those dresses on it for you for the price of one."
You shake your head, starting to get away from the young seller in Ezio's direction. He decides to follow you, grabbing your wrist. With your heart pumping, you try to pull away from him, but the man squeezes you harder.
"You haven't even seen all dresses yet!"
"Any problem here?"
A wave of relief washes over your body. Ezio. He had kept his eye on you since you left his presence, and when the young seller started following you, he made his way toward you. Ezio's eyes darken when he sees the hand on your wrist.
"I suggest you let go of her."
"Or what? What are you going to do exactly, Old man?"
You blink, confused. Did you just hear that idiot call your husband "Old Man"? Didn't he have any sense of danger? Did he have any idea who Ezio was? Ezio could have some gray spots, but he was still a very attractive man. He got hit on everywhere you went! With the anger boiling inside your stomach, you breathe heavily to calm yourself. You don't want to put Ezio into trouble in your peaceful shopping afternoon.
"This is your last warning," Ezio warns, his voice a falsely calming tone.
"Do whatever you want, Granpa-OW!"
Before Ezio could even move, you lost your temper. Turning with your hand open, you hit the man across the face with all your strength, attracting everyone's stares.
"You do NOT insult my husband like that!"
Too shocked to react at first, the young seller lets go of your arm. His expression becomes enraged as he pulls out a small knife. Ezio instantly brings you behind him, his whole body hiding you from the young seller, ready to protect you.
Before things get uglier, an older man runs in front of the younger man, his posture apologetic.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Signore Ezio!"
After hearing this, the young man's eyes go wide. His eyes go from the older man's back to Ezio, finally recognizing who he is. He lets his knife fall to the ground, hiding behind the older man.
"Ezio, please forgive my son! I will be sure to teach him a proper lesson after this," The father says while the son looks down, embarrassed. Or afraid.
"I will be happier if he apologizes to my Signora."
After the younger man apologizes to you profusely, without looking up, that he was an idiot and that he would never harass anyone ever again, his father still offers you three dresses of your choice for free. You insist on paying, the owner insists on not receiving, and you stay on this back and forth until you finally announce you can't accept the son's apology if he doesn't take the payment.
Finally, walking away from the store, you sigh while Ezio carries the perfectly packed dresses. Ezio is the first one to break up the silence, concerned.
"Are you hurt, tesoro?""
"I am fine, Ezio."
Ezio gently grabs your wrist, his eyes scanning it. When he finds nothing worrisome, he takes your palms to his mouth, giving a gentle kiss.
"That slap was rather impressive."
"I mean, how dare he call you Grandpa? Old man? He deserved even worse!" You declare, the anger coming back. When you hear Ezio's laugh, you cross your arms "What is so funny?"
"Nothing. I didn't care about the insult, mia cara. I was more worried he was going to hurt you."
"He wasn't going to," You reply, confident, and Ezio smiles back, satisfied. No other word needed to be said: You knew Ezio would never let anyone hurt you. You interlock your fingers with him, a sense of safety inside your chest.

Well my friends. It has come to such a time. I thought my work would remain contained but no. Not anymore.
The Pasta Fic was supposed to be a one off. But then it gained a sequel. And now. Now my friends. It has spread.
Behold, THE PASTA FIC PART THREE.
Be warned, anachronistic pasta, horrific pasta crimes, and encouragement of peer pressure present. Do not be afraid, all written is a work of fiction. Even Ezio.

you could do a fan fiction about ezio who is having an affair with cristina, completely ignoring the feelings of the reader but only later when the reader death realizes it and promises that in the distant future they will meet again. then towards the end we meet again (modern era)🥺

Consequences of an affair

You fought back angry tears as you stood on the doorstep, little Petruccio having been the one to greet you when you went looking for your lover, Ezio, only to be told by his little brother that he had gone to visit Cristina. You and Ezio had argued over her recently. You knew of their history but the two of you were courting now, your fathers already discussing marriage and you had grown afraid that Ezio’s affections for Cristina still lingered, asking him to distance himself from her a reasonable amount.
“Right.” Your voice came out quieter than you intended, “Thank you, Petruccio.” You turned to leave, intent on catching him in the act if you could. It would be enough to call off the courtship.
“Will you not stay? I’d love to play chess with you.” You smiled sweetly at the little boy. You were very fond of Ezio’s family, Petruccio in particular, who enjoyed spending time with you, especially if Claudia was with you too.
“Perhaps tomorrow.” You replied, knowing it would be very unlikely that you would ever set foot in the Auditore household again after today. You turned back to crouch down and give him a big hug as a goodbye before making your way to the Vespucci home. You knew from Ezio’s stories what Cristina’s father could be like and so it was all too easy to tell him you were worried that Ezio was with his daughter for him to allow you to accompany him to her room where the door was thrown open and yo immediately closed your eyes at seeing your partner tangled up with his old lover. It took all of your concentration to not break down there and then, feeling utterly used, humiliated and disregarded by the person who your shared families had been intent on marrying you to.
You barely registered the furious bellows of Cristina’s father, her crying or Ezio’s cursing as he struggled to get all of his clothes in order and get dragged out the door by the head of the Vespucci household. Cristina’s mother had overheard the whole situation and had offered to take you home, comforting you and pausing to wipe your tears every now and then as she took you home, heartbroken that Ezio had actually been unfaithful. You had feared it but a part of you had trusted that he wouldn’t do this after your conversation.
Your father was informed and insisted that you go along with him to collect Signore Vespucci and his daughter so that everyone could meet at the Auditore house to discuss the end of your courtship and the reprimand that Cristina’s father wanted to see Ezio have. You had left the conversation eventually to go and get some water, your head beginning to hurt from all the crying you had done that day and you found a furious Claudia who practically tackled you into a hug. You managed to laugh a little at all the insults she spewed out about her brother, finding some comfort in knowing this had not damaged your friendship with her.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
That friendship had stood much stronger than your courtship, it would seem, as the two of you were sitting in the parlour embroidering, chatting and joking one day when there was a very angry sounding knock on the door. The two of you had quickly set the hoops and fabric down when you heard guards demanding for the men of the household to answer the door as they were under arrest and to be tried for their crimes.
The two of you ran to the door at the sound of fighting to find Federico already being pinned down and bound and Petruccio sobbing as the guards bound his hands behind his back all while Giovanni was fighting off the guards. Something was wrong, you knew, as you watched Maria frozen in shock while her husband fought as though the lives of his families depended on it. Did they? Claudia ran to pull her mother away from the action while you picked up the nearest standing candelabra and rammed it into the back of a guard’s head as he reached to unsheathe his sword on the small space that was the foyer of the house. He fell to the ground and, acting on instinct and adrenaline, you swung for the next guard who caught the metal in his hands and tried to tug it from your grasp but you turned your body and pulled backwards, using the momentum of your movement to deliver a powerful kick to his knee. He toppled backwards, letting go of your makeshift weapon before regaining his balance and turning to attack Giovanni. But why would he leave you-
Your answer came in the form of a harsh force at the back of your head, sending you to the ground with a splitting pain blooming in your skull. Time and the world seemed to blur as you heard the guards rampage through the house, likely looking for Ezio who you knew to not be home – you never visited when he was here anymore – and then leaving with the three arrested males. You groaned as Claudia sat you upright, feeling something warm trickling down your shoulder and seeing blood pouring down your shoulder made you cry out in alarm. Maria was sitting on a chair, still silent and staring in shock while Claudia lifted your hair to try and get a better look at your injury.
“You’re bleeding a lot.” Her voice wavered with worry as she ran to get the cloth she had been embroidering, pressing it to your wound and making you cry out again at the pain it caused as she tried to stop the bleeding. You weren’t sure how long later it was when Ezio came through the door and Claudia leapt to her feet to explain the situation to him. You felt faint and your chin fell to your chest as you held the little cloth to your wound, the side of your dress drenched in blood.
Your eyes met Ezio’s as he fell to his knees beside you, his face horrified at the amount of blood that you were covered in and he covered your hand to help you try and stop the bleeding but your vision was already being filled with black spots, fizzling in and out and seemingly getting larger each time.
“I’m so sorry, Y/n.” His voice came out a whisper and he swallowed hard, his free hand taking yours and squeezing, feeling how weakly you returned the gesture. “I should have been better to you.” He had been unfaithful, had broken the trust in your courtship that had resulted in a future where the two of you would never marry. You hadn’t married into his family and yet you had been the one here to do what you could to defend them when he was gone and now you were bleeding to death for it.
“You should have.” You agreed, closing your eyes when your head swam as you went blind again, finding that keeping them open did very little for you, “So you’re going to be better. You have to be. For someone who isn’t me. Go save your family, Ezio.” He didn’t want to leave you but you knew you were dying and would rather spend your last moments with your best friend than with your unfaithful ex-lover, even if seeing you like this did give him a change of heart and made you mourn the future you could have had together had things been different. “Go.” He reluctantly let go of your hand and went running out of the door to find where his family were being held.
Claudia returned to your side and you let go of your makeshift bandage to wrap your hands around her neck, sniffling as you fought back sobs in her embrace. You could feel her body wrack with silent sobs too as she held you.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
“I’m back~” You called out into your friend’s art studio, coffee cups in one hand and a bag full of a selection of donuts around your wrist.
“Ah!” Leonardo exclaimed as he leapt up from the sofa to help you out, “Y/n, a friend of mine came to drop by while you were out!” Leonardo took the coffee from your hands, thanking him quickly as you made your way over to the sofa and armchair in the corner of the studio. You could have dropped the bag there and then when you saw the man’s face and he seemed to be having a similar reaction.
You had been having a recurring dream about your life with his man in the Italian Renaissance all your life and now he was standing up in front of you. Leonardo spoke up again:
“Ezio, this is–” Ezio finished for him.
“Y/n.”

Wolves in Romé pt1
Desmond ran. His paws trotting on the stone floors of Rome, with the wind licking at his maw, he did not stop.
They were after him… the crazy furry cult.. the followers of Romu- Romunucu… or whatever Shaun had called them. They weren't so silly once they appeared to be real and very much after Desmond.
Desmond who had a tail and two furry ears and paws and a whole wolf body. Desmond who had woken down at the sanctuary that held that ugly armour, covered in fur, no longer human.
Did Rome even have wolves?
An arrow flew past him and he stopped his flashback with a sad inhuman yelp to keep on running. Didn’t these guys worship wolves, shouldn’t his species be considered sacred to them or something?
His paws slipped slightly on the smooth dirty stones as he took a left to an empty alley. He was glad it was dead of night, Desmond did not think crowds could handle a wolf running up and down the streets.
Another arrow flew past as Desmond tried to plan his route, he remembered that there was an entrance to a forest he could maybe get to if he took a turn two streets down to the left… or was it to the right? He never had to do this without the animus map on his right corner before.
Desmond howled suddenly as pain shot through his back leg.
 He got hit…
One of them had to hit eventually but damn it hurt. He took a sharp right, eyes blind in pain and crashed muzzle-first onto a dead end.
The kicked puppy noises that left his inhuman form were pretty sad.
“There you are finally! Come here doggy”
3 cackling shadows came over him as he backed into the end, laid low, teeth bared, snarling.
Desmond knew he was fucked. His new wound was hurting and he was tired, he didn't think he could take all three of them with these odds but at least one would come down with him if he did.
One of the cultists, the one at the front, stepped up holding his sword between them to put distance between his very biteable arm and his sharp teeth. Desmond barked at him and bit the air… teeth clanking in a clear sign of step the fuck away but the man only grinned.
“We have been waiting for you little pup, come on now don't make this hard for us. Romulus is not the most patient…”
Desmond only snarled and growled back again, thunderous rumble from his chest never stopping as the other man swung his sword around his face.
Suddenly, a landing shadow on the clothesline above them caught the corner of his eye.  As he snarled and dripped sylva everywhere for his life he could see the shadow shift and move right above the other two wolf furries slowly, like a predator eyeing its catch.
“Come on you stupid dumb mutt…”
The sword's tip slashed at his muzzle and Desmond's attention shifted back to his main threat as he growled once more, his snarl fully on display as he started tasting blood from the dripping wound. Oh, how he wished he had his gear.
Busy with keeping the sword in his line of sight, Desmond only saw a glimmer of metal before the two men staying behind, laughing at his desperation, crumbled onto the cold stone road behind his main attacker. There was no other sound as Desmond saw his savior rise from the bodies that cushioned his fall and make his way over in small steps.
If he had lips he would have the biggest grin right now.
“Why don't you leave the poor dog alone Amico, I’m sure we can find a lady that is more of your…taste”
Ezio spoke.
Desmond knew that voice as if it was his own.
The remaining follower whipped his head around and Desmond saw his opening.
He lunged at the man's arm holding the sword, bringing the man down in a scream with his soft arm in-between his very sharp teeth. They slammed down to the hard ground in a roll and the man, to his credit, managed to land a punch on his nose, kicking him onto a stack of empty crates. Desmond would have been madder if he hadn't taken a chunk of the man's flesh between his blood-soaked muzzle as he was thrown across.
The man's agonized screams filled the alley and left as quickly and abruptly as they started. Desmond could not see what happened from where he was thrown into but he could guess where one or two pointy metal objects could end up in a screaming man on the floor.
When Desmond could get the dirty cover they put over the half-rotten crates out of his eyes and tangled limbs he saw Ezio leaning over the man with a chunk of an arm missing.
Ezio turned his head to where he was lying down, wiping his blades on the dead man's robes.
”You poor thing must have been scary to get chased by these lunatics.”
Yes, it was.
Desmond stayed where he was, breathing heavily as the adrenaline slowly started to leave him.
“Let me look at you little pup… I think I saw his sword hit but it's too dark.”
Desmond huffed what was supposed to be a snort when he saw Ezio slowly get on his knees, hand stretched out, crawling closer over to where Desmond decided to lay inside the old broken crates.
“Come here Cucciolo…” snapping his fingers, he whistled.
He whistled. He didn’t think Desmond was actually a dog…surely. It was dark but he was clearly larger than a village dog with way sharper teeth even in pitch black.
“Come on I won't harm you~”
Yea, I, might harm you!
If he had been a regular wolf that is, Desmond thought.
Another whistle and Desmond gave up trying to teach Ezio common sense.
“There you are mi Bello…” Crawling under the boxes and bits he could see Ezio take in his size. “You are a bigger thing than I thought huh, couldn't see much at this hour but not a puppy I recon…”
Yes… He was very much not a puppy. Desmond rolled his eyes as he stopped in front of Ezio shaking his coat to get rid of bits and dust. Moonlight on his fur the assassin was now finally able to get a real good look at him.
“Definitely not a puppy… oh boy… Not even a dog are you?”
The hand he held in front of him wavered a bit, clearly wasn't sure if he wanted to keep the limb so accessible now that he knew the animal in front of him wasn't the friendliest of spiciest or a man's best friend.
Ezio wanted to laugh, Desmond also did because why the fuck was Ezio Auditore alone in an alley at night face to face with a wolf he rescued from some crazed bastards. And why was his arm still out!?
“H-how about you don't hurt me?”
Of course, only Ezio would try to bargain with a wild animal. Stubborn dumbass, but this was a better scenario than having Ezio put him down for a rampage a wolf could cause on the streets.
As the man tensed further, Desmond trotted closer with his eyes on Ezio. His hand was still but he could see from Ezio's face how much he wanted to move it away.
Once again, stubborn dumbass.
He heard the man take a sharp inhale as he brought his wet nose to his palm, he waited a bit sniffing mostly for show and for Ezio to let go of the breath he held. Slowly, placed his maw onto the open palm, his blood-soaked fur dirtying the man's gloves.
“No way…”
He looked back up to Ezio to find the man's eyes twinkling with glee he had never seen in any memories he watched. Tilting his head into the palm Desmond felt the man finally get the courage he needed to start petting him as his fingers twitched between his sticky fur.
“Leonardo is going to lose his mind… Pazzesco! I am petting a real wolf…”
He wouldn't be alone, Desmond was losing it for sure. Well, he had been losing it actively since the animus but becoming a wild animal in the 1500s Renaissance? I think he got to a point past therapy on day one of Abstergo kidnapping.
He was a wild animal in Ezio’s Italy…. He was getting pets from THE Ezio Auditore in THE Renaissance.
“Who's a good boy~ Look at that tail wag!”
Oh god, and his tail wagged….
Desmond turned his head to look at the betraying limb but when he did the twist bumped his back leg right onto Ezio’s knee. He jolted in a yelp as pain shot through him, he had almost forgotten he had an arrow to his glute.
“Oh Cucciolo... wait a second boy”
Desmond stayed in a low whimper as Ezio dug into his pouches. Getting bandages and a flask, he looked over to the wolf with sympathy.
Lips pressed flat Ezio spoke in a teasing tone his face did not reflect ”Facciamolo… we are going to make a little deal you and I” He placed a gloved hand to his own chest “I promise to help you heal…” then pointed at him…
Desmond looked into his eyes unimpressed as Ezio tried to bargain with, again, a literal wolf. He hoped his animal face was expressive enough to get his point across.
“...and you have to promise not to bite, Capisce?”
His hands scratched at his ears and Desmond had to admit it felt nice, like a relaxing massage on just the right spot. “This will hurt, I am sorry.” Then the same hands moved slowly toward his legs. Desmond knew Ezio talked from experience when he said his warning.
God and he couldn’t even have alcohol to ease the pain that was about to come!
Ezio’s eyes darted between his wound and his face a few times.
He was clearly expecting to be bitten.
Then again what wild animal would not if you yanked an arrow out of them? Desmond could not blame him really for thinking of his limbs when he was making a chew toy out of one a minute ago…
Ezio's hand closed around the arrow shaft in a gentle pressure.
Both of them took a deep breath.
“Please don't bite me!”
Yank.
Desmond was not proud of the voices that came out of him…
