Trend Alert: Piercings!!!

This week we’ve been walking around our huge university and paying even more attention. Besides clothing, hair, and shoes, we have noticed that styles are being enhanced by… piercings!! Their position varies from ears, lips, noses, and eyebrows. But they're everywhere?

Does that make them a trend? Well, piercings have been around for many, many years. They are part of various cultures to the point of some styles and body areas having religious/celestial meanings. Going more into modernity, the punks started rocking them some decades ago and it became an accent accessory for them. With society’s past view on “punk” youth, piercings were soon related to rebellious or shameful behavior.

Views on piercings kept shifting during the next decades but the 2000s gave the stardom to certain piercings in certain positions. Like the popularity of belly buttons. Specific piercings become trendy during a certain period of time. It doesn’t mean that you can’t have others, just that a lot of people are getting the same one.

We have previously referenced tiktok as the main place for trend distribution and it definitely applies to this one. A couple of years ago, nostril and septum piercings were “in”. Every young person had one or wanted one. Watching tons of videos today with people rocking their metal pieces has influenced the youth once again, and we love them! 2023 is the year for lip and eyebrow piercings. They were so popular in the early 2000s and just as the “grunge aesthetic”, they are making their major comeback.

With tons of styles of jewelry to choose from, you can customize your piercings to your personal style! If you prefer gold or silver, black or colorful, there are plenty of choices that will accommodate everyone. If you are planning on getting one, we strongly encourage you to follow your piercer’s care instructions to safely rock your wonderful pieces!

I did something REAL weird, and used one of my stud earrings for my right-side nose stud piercing, because the spike barbell cap part fell off somewhere & I can't find it-- I was going to just make the trek to a smoke/piercing shop nearby & just buy a whole new nose piercing eventually if it didn't close up too soon to. But it stayed open, and so today I got random inspiration & went "BUT I WANT A PIERCING, NOW THO", had this weird-ass idea-- I thought it would never work or fit but it did *perfectly*, weirdly... And I like it better than the piercings made specifically for noses 😂😂 It's more unique tbh!!! I may just keep this in to wear long-term AS my actual nose stud, if I enjoy wearing it from now on! 💜 What do you guys think of this? LOL!! Also at least 1 new piece of art is coming soon, I drew a great detailed sketch of it but I just need to get off my ass & finish it by colouring & maybe re-lining!
