God, the end of that show fucking rocked me. It was amazing all around, but that last bit with Hawk and his daughter, and then all the quilts...

It's stupid, I've seen the picture of the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus, I've seen the 'Untitled (Picture of Ross in L.A)' art piece, I vaguely know the number of queer people that died, I vaguely know what queer activists did to fight for their rights back then, and lay the groundwork for my rights now. But watching as those quilts got bigger and bigger, and reading that there is no space in the world big enough to display all of the quilts? It just... broke me down in a way I haven't experienced yet.

I don't have a good way to say thank you, and I'm sorry, because there really isn't anything that can make up for the tragedy and the loss people felt back then, and are feeling now. So. Thank you. And I'm deeply, deeply sorry.

I have been drifting back to STAR WARS fandom lately and I have been greatly rewarded for it, especially in the gen fic veins, because there have been some banger fics authors have been putting out! And the thing that really gets me in the fannish heart is that there's more and more fics about the Jedi, both for exploring the characters and the culture. I have been able to find multiple fics that have been kind to Mace Windu! I have been able to find multiple fics that explain what attachment actually is to the Jedi and to Star Wars! I have been able to find multiple fics that lift my spirit up or punch me in the feelings in exactly the right way, both for the usual disaster lineage faves, but also for the Jedi as a whole.
