Kingdom Hearts 3 - Kingdom of Corona

#kingdom hearts 3 #kh3 #kingdom of corona #scenery #my gif #this world has so many nice locations it was actually kinda hard to narrow it down to just eight gifs #i was surprised by how much detail they add within out of bounds areas like that waterfall in the 3rd gif #they did so good with this world every bit of it is gorgeous and fun to explore #sliding down that meadow of purple wildflowers for the first time was such a memorable experience #i love that we get to view the kingdom from afar and even explore the festival streets #it's very lively and beautifully decorated #i made sure to get a shot of the lanterns too. it's really cool that we get to have a battle at night like that #though i do wish there was an option to peacefully view them while being able to wander the town #it wasn't easy to get a clear shot of it without any party members getting in the way or enemies attacking me lol

#I was indifferent to coachella before but after living in the valley for a month I'm like holy shit this thing is horrid #that is SUCH a poor area #coachella the town is predominantly poor and predominantly mexican immigrants #so you get all these spoiled rich kids from LA clogging up this very low income area #I'd like to think the income helps the city but there's simply not space in that town for that many people #I can't imagine how horrible it must be to live there during the festival #I would be very interested to hear the local perspective but of course it's never fucking represented

Lots of things happened at the Humour and Hijinks Festival! Everyone had a good laugh telling jokes, Vincent met Veronica for the first time and they had so much to talk about with cooking! And the jokesters won...meaning they can pay the rent this week without any trouble 🤣

I managed to keep my resolution to give (mostly) handmade gifts this year. I was still short of a couple of gifts earlier this week, so I bought a few quinces to make them into sweets + a jar of jelly—and then I went to my library’s Christmas book fair and found a book I could re-bind (the back cover was damaged), with a theme that would go well with a Greek-patterned paper I had in my bookbinding supplies. Here’s the before-after for both!

#i liked the original front cover and initially wanted to preserve the title + eye area on the new cover but the colours didn't match #sorry cover #also the gold paper i used inside for endpapers was a nightmare!! #it wasn't bookbinding-quality paper just some gold wrapping paper. never again #''but it looks festive'' i said through gritted teeth as i tried to glue it and #shove it in the book press in 6 seconds or less so it wouldn't have time to warp

thinkin about how if gnomes are partially insectivorous and also live underground in the woods then Cicada Emergence is 1000% a huge cultural event, probably with religious significance, and cicadas would hold tremendous cultural importance both literally and symbolically

You can’t wait for the main event so you head out to Route 12 to check out the holiday lights displays!

The rolling fields in the outskirts of town are now home to over a hundred spectacular light arrangements, most of them animated! Many of the displays are Christmas-themed, like a larger-than-life pine tree decorated with lights and ornaments and Santa flying through the sky in his Stantler-drawn sleigh. Nestled in the nearby woods, you see Santa’s workshop, bustling with animated Jynx and Delibird as they work diligently to load Santa’s sleigh. Upon a hill, you spot a scene of a Beartic mother and her pack of Cubchoo sleighing down into a pile of snow. 

As you walk further down the path, you notice that they have light displays representing each of the regions, too! Most of the displays are themed around legendary pokémon, famous landmarks, and regional birds!

Ok yeah, that was worth dragging my sorry carcass downtown for (genuine)

#Misadventures around PDX #But it was the first time in recent memory that I enjoyed being downtown #I find Portland's downtown to be opressively unfriendly to the point that it almost feels hostile #Besides Cleveland I've never had any other city's downtown give me that feeling of an increasingly cornered animal that has to get out NOW #But man ... tonight it felt alive. There was excitement & playfulness rather than the usual miserable atmosphere. #People were (mostly) polite and it felt more like a community than I've ever seen it - even in previous festival years #Art istallations were all over the downtown area with many in the nearly endless vacant store windows #Man ... it's gonna hurt when the festival is over and things return to 'normal' #Portland Winter Light Festival

Oh now I'm wondering, what if Tsubasa started to stray from the bulling model. Realizing what he did was bad and asked his grandfather what he should do to make it up to Izuku. Leading to his "moving away" and eventually nomu-fication. His attempt to break the cycle is what caused Doctor Garaki to determine that he needed to go.

Honestly I do wonder what led up to Tsubasa becoming a Nomu because like. It'd be one thing if he was just a random classmate from Aldera. But the fact that the doctor was his grandfather adds some question to it.

I don't think it would've been /just/ him questioning things. Maybe the kid wandered into grandpa's lab and saw shit he shouldn't have? Maybe something something Nina Tucker so on and so forth.

So I'm back from the Slovenia trip. (I was there bc Animateka film festival screened Entbandung there, invited me for an Q&A and paid for the hotel stay.) I went there by train, and not only did I end up stranding on my way there and having to spend an unplanned night in a small Austrian town - I also ended up stranding on my way back home, again ending up spending an unplanned night... ...in the same little Austrian town. At the same hotel. In the same hotel room even. Definitely one of the weirdest things that ever happened to me. Luckily, Austrian Federal Railways had given me a hotel voucher every time that happened. And the town is very charming, with a lovely Christkindlmarkt. So I didn't mind too much. But my way back home did double from 15 hours to 30 hours. Once I was home it still felt like I was still in a train and the world was still moving and shaking around me, until I fell asleep. Ljubljana and Animateka were great by the way. It was nice to explore the city and get to know other student filmmakers at the festival. I hope I'll one day get to go there again.
