i changed some of dhors glamours and i went a little bonkers over them.. fun fact, she kinda needs glasses! she has poor eyesight but not bad enough to where she needs to wear them all the time.. just for stuff like reading or doing technical things! she opts for fashionable sunglasses or tinted glasses usually :3

in the midst of working on a new GNB glam. i’m only missing one piece and they’re the YoRHa type-55 thigh boots of fending.

stressed because i h a t e tanking alliance raids that i only do as DPS because i don’t understand mechanics at all. buuuut that’s how i got over my 90 alliance raid fear and now i can’t do anything BUT tank them. so maybe later i’ll queue up for it.

can’t decide if i want to do a pure white dye or keep the glam this color. i also need to find a headpiece but that can wait. i love her eye covering too much. fits perfectly with the lore she has.

you're new to healing, right? do you have advice for other new healers? i want to but i'm nervous

I actually do! I have a few pieces of advice that I've accumulated since I started healing! And I think a lot of this could also be applied to tanking, as both roles have similar levels of responsibility and tendency to make people anxious.

Don't do what I did and wait until you've maxed out Summoner to give Scholar a go, or alternatively don't buy a level skip for your desired class. Learning backwards is a BITCH and it makes an already nerve wracking role more difficult. I wish that I had played Scholar in tandem with Summoner as I was leveling, it would have been much easier and it would have been a gentle introduction to healing in FFXIV. I did not do that, and I literally had to beat my head against the wall trying to figure out how Scholar worked, and I only succeeded out of sheer stubbornness.

Run content with trusts/duty support! Since they added ARR content, you can run pretty low level content now with NPCs to get the hang of it, and slowly ramp up the difficulty as you feel comfortable. They aren't a good substitute in the long run, so just because you're good at healing NPCs, don't assume you'll be as good with real people. It's a bit of learning curve! NPCs are predictable, they will always do the same things every time and if you run with them enough, you eventually know exactly what attacks they won't dodge and the best strategy to get through a duty with everyone alive. Real people are NOT predictable in the slightest, and even when you run with friends who you KNOW are good at their roles, there's still a likelihood someone will die or need to be focus healed or any number of other things. But with starting out and trying to learn your class and kit, running content with NPCs is a fantastic way to do that.

Let people know you're new to the role! Most people are super understanding about this, ESPECIALLY for healers and tanks. Don't be afraid to ask your party for small pulls, or ask if anyone knows the duty well enough to give you advice. There's definitely some assholes out there, but overall, the community is really kind and happy to help when asked.

Don't worry about doing bad! You're not going to be perfect at a new role! Remember, the difference between a master and an amateur is that the master has failed more times than the amateur has even tried. You're going to make mistakes, but that's how you learn! Celebrate the little victories! Take baby steps and only do what you're comfortable with! Everything is going to be ok :)

Finally, have fun! If you're not having fun, then maybe healing isn't for you, and that's ok! If you ultimately decide to stick with DPS, don't feel bad. It's not a requirement to be flexible and fill every role, the only requirement is that you enjoy yourself.
