FIREBIRD (2021) dir. Peeter Rebane Sergey, a young private in the Soviet Air Force, has only a few weeks remaining in his military service. He and his friends bristle under the tight control of the military commanders. He appears to have a budding romance with Luisa, the secretary to the base commander, and he indulges in a photography hobby that is barely tolerated by his superiors. He is assigned to assist a new fighter pilot, Roman, when he arrives. An undeniable passion between them develops, despite the threat of imprisonment that hangs over homosexual romances under the Soviet regime. (link in title)

Firebird2021 (5/10) "do you have someone special in your life?" "Him." HUUHH👀 "and you." nice save buddy, keep that dipshit on his toes- it was a good movie, bad acting but I did like certain parts cause it seemed quite raw.
Wonka (3/10) it....... i don't know it just wasn't all that grand. again the hype was too much, sure it was funny seeing that little twink sing his little song and do his little dance, but other than that it was just ehhhh
The Imitation Game (9/10) fucking screaming and fucking crying and fucking throwing up- I had read so much about Turning but never knew there was a movie? actually two movies, Codebreaker(2011), and that movie is now on the list. Will be watching The Imitation Game again and again. Actually I need everyone to watch this movie please
Barbie (1/10) I just hated it really. I understand its message and agree with a lot of it but the packaging was just so stupid honestly.
The Banshees of Inisherin (6/10) I don't know if this was supposed to be a comedy or not but I was laughing the whole time up until Jenny died then I wanted to murder Callum with my bare hands. Overall it was good, I assume it's based on an Irish tale -like The Killing Of a Sacred Deer- but idk which one so I just enjoyed from a story-ish point of view.

What a time or historic timing for any lgbtq media involving eastern europe. Any mention, dvd and talk about estonian movie FIREBIRD is a non-violent gesture of all of us towards the regime that wants to erase lgbtq in Russia and in general. Cast member Oleg Zagorodnii posted some commentary towards Mr. Putin.
“Based on a true story during the Cold War, Firebird is a passionate love story set against the backdrop of an Air Force base in occupied Estonia during late 1970’s Communist rule.”

folks tonight we discovered what hitting my breaking point looks like and it is: impulse three day vacation in palm desert for ahl hockey in february by myself. does anyone have any recommendations for stuff to do in coachella valley?? like restaurants or hikes or museums or anything. i don't drink and i love museums and i will have a car and my only two commitments are evening hockey games. i should probably buy my lesbian parents alcohol, snacks, and/or spices for looking after my dog and i would like to buy local. also love a local ice cream shop or creamery. literally any recs you have would be great!! no recommendation too great or too small!!
(also podcast recs that aren't true crime or horror since i have two 7+ hour drives and if i listen to my sports podcasts the entire time i will become a worse version of myself than we started with, which is already bad lmfao)

I just couldn't resist. I've only ever seen this scene in individual gifs and it's far too beautiful and valuable and deserves to be shown in one piece.

Okay seriously I’m literally begging people to go see Firebird while it’s still in theaters in some places
The storytelling, the cinematography, the chemistry, the way it demands for queer love to seen and respected… It’s utterly beautiful and I cried both times I saw it. It was written by two gay men (one of whom is the director, the other plays one of the romantic leads) and is based on a true story (it was made with the support and approval of the memoir’s author, who passed away in 2017). Another one of the leads is Ukrainian and currently in Kyiv actively supporting the Ukrainian resistance.
Please support Firebird.
