I kicked off the holiday season as the featured speaker for the 2022 Red Kettle Kickoff for THE SALVATION ARMY. It was a blessed evening and a lovely night with great music, food, and heartfelt stories. My friend Steve Goldstein was the MC. Redondo Beach’s Police Chief and our Firefighters along with other community notables were all there to support an organization that takes care of our seniors and others in need. Given the opportunity, I implore you to donate or contribute to this well-know charity. Every dollar and donation matters, especially during the holiday season. ✌🏾🖤🙌🏾 Special thanks to @thaiseliasen 🙏🏾 #blessings #happyholidays #thesalvationarmy #redkettlekickoff #speaker #loveisthedrug #aces #community#peacelovegoodvibes #foodpantry (at Redondo Beach, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ck6OFhOPKvI/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Food! 🥗🍲🍮🥬 Joined Melissa, executive director of @thesunriseproject, and her lovely daughter to pick up a food donation for the Porch Pantry at Sunrise. @slimzadie was a huge help, driving, packing the car and beautifully organizing the fridge. Steve and I packed a box for families that @ayogikitchen sponsors to deliver today right before Community Yoga at 6p. Sharing fresh, whole foods and fresh made packaged foods was a delight. Seriously, it felt like Christmas! We put a few things in our pantry for emergency use and snacks for kids who pass on the way home from school. Feeding people is a bigger need in all communities. The number of kids, including those from affluent areas and families, that are hungry breaks my heart. The next time you’re shopping, grab a few items. They can be sale or clearance items. They don’t have to be foods you like or appreciate. Donate them to your favorite pantry, including ours. Drop them off at our donation bin ( or save them for a family you know. Take them to Sunrise. My friend @annehollond calls it redistributing wealth. Joins us tonight at 1501 Learnard for Community Yoga. Your donation for yoga helps me keep doing what I do and helps feed people. We do it together! There’s no donation too big or too small. Just look at that fridge and pantry at Sunrise. A lot of people are going to sigh with relief when they see that. Whether it’s a time, energy or funds issue, people need help and every little bit helps. Don’t forget this Saturday is Sunrise’s Pie Auction. There is a free a Community Meal in addition to beer and pie for sale and free kids activities. We’ll raise funds by auctioning off delicious, homemade pies and there’s a silent auction. Joining us is free. It’s going to be a fun Saturday! Want to contribute? Go to Sunrise’s website to sign up to prep, cook, serve and help with the kids Or just come with your debit/credit card or cash and help us continue providing our programs! See you on the mat 🧘🏼‍♂️and eating pie 🥧 on Saturday! #food #foodpantry #pantry #yogalife #community #community #wedoittogether #thesunriseproject #ayogikitchen #lfk #lawrence #lawrenceks (at Sunrise Project) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjgjZiDJ0Ar/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

September is Emergency Preparedness Month and topic is food preparations and storage. It’s recommended to have at least 10 days and up to 30 days worth of food, can meats, soups, seasonings, comfort items including coffee, tea, honey etc. to make life easier after an earthquake, power outage, food shortages and mad reactionary rushes to the stores by the unprepared. Stuff that will survive a power outage. Leading up the the early days of the virus in 2019 and 2020, I saw the writing in the wall and stocked up before they started talking about shutting things down. This paired with hitting farms and ranches for our food kept us out of the stores avoiding the mass panic shopping we saw last year. With any items you stock up on, FIFO (First In First Out) rotating older items to the front and newer items to the back. If you’re getting close to an expiration date, use it, give to family members, friends or donate it so it doesn’t have go to waste. In the last picture, is a hotly debated subject of storing alcohol. I enjoy a drink here and there so stocking up on liquor for the occasional drink, using it for cooking, medicinal (in some cases) and bartering can come in handy. I don’t drink like I used to so it’s sitting there. If you are in flood zones, try to keep preparations above the known flood levels. If you’re in tornado prone areas, store some essentials in a storm shelter, basement or cellar if you have one. What’s your go to prep item? Mine is coffee and peanut butter. #bushcraftandprepping #prepper #prepping #preparedness #pantry #emergencypreparedness #liquor #foodpantry #liquorcabinet #earthquake #earthquakes #naturaldisaster #naturaldisasters #emergencypreparednessmonth #nationalemergencypreparednessmonth #food #foodie #areyouready #coffeeaddict #selfreliance #selfreliant https://www.instagram.com/p/CigPTq2vqma/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

4/15/22- The University of Wyoming’s Food Share Pantry was touched by the overwhelming donation of over 1,000 pounds of food thanks to UW Fraternity and Sorority Life. This generous donation was a result of the organization’s annual Greek Week competition. Greek Week is a series of friendly competitions between the chapters on campus. One competition was to collect items for the pantry and design a sculpture. The theme of this year’s Greek Week was the 90’s so we had creative sculptures like the iconic Homer Simpson, a vintage Nintendo Gameboy, and a Brittney Spears inspired sculpture. The pantry staff had the unique opportunity to judge the sculptures, which was a blast! In first place, was Mr. Homer Simpson sitting in front of his TV (seen pictured), and in last place was an unfortunate incident of canned food falling and ruining a sculpture that we believed was supposed to be the American flag.    From these impressive sculptures came some great donations such as dry goods, feminine products, deodorant, and snack products we don’t normally get to carry. Donations are vital to the success and accessibility of the pantry. We strive to have food options for all people regardless of dietary restrictions in an effort to nourish everyone on campus. Student and beloved pantry patron, Kareem explains the necessity of donations, “I would enjoy seeing more fresh food like maybe some eggs or something. The burden taken off by coming here is great but seeing some new, fresh foods would be appreciated. I also like the home products you have but sometimes the items I need that cost a lot of money, like laundry detergent, are not available.” As we strive to meet the needs of everyone that comes in, the allotted budget for the pantry only allows for so much. Keeping up with the demand for popular items like laundry detergent and fresh food can be very difficult but with gracious donations from those that are able, we can better serve our community.    Based on a study done in the pantry, the leading reasons people hesitated to come in were that they hadn’t heard of us, or they felt anxious coming in for the first time. In an attempt to be more present on campus, the pantry now has multiple social media accounts where students, staff, and faculty can find information and see what the pantry has to offer and hopefully take away some of that anxiety. “The people are very nice, they are all my friends, I enjoy coming in. I love coming in to see the people that work here, they are great friends and it is a nice experience to come in and get what I need,” says Kareem when asked about his experience coming into the pantry. The Food Share Coordinator, Izzie Jones say, “We have built such a wonderful community of pantry users, we love seeing familiar faces but we are always thrilled to have new people come in. I think this experience can seem intimidating but as soon as you walk in here, you are surrounded by smiling faces and yummy food!” We hope that events like Greek Week continue to spread awareness of this resource on campus and show the great things available at the pantry.  Thanks to UW’s Fraternity and Sorority Life, the pantry is able to meet the needs of more people and offer a diverse selection of foods! Donations like this make it possible for the pantry to live out it’s purpose of nourishing our community regardless of culture, financial status, or dietary needs. If you are interested in donating, stop by the pantry during normal operating hours or drop off donations in one of our drop boxes in Knight Hall or the Union and for more information on other campus resources, check out https://www.uwyo.edu/dos/student-resources/.

Another amazing day at the FNB Market
Food Not Bombs (FNB) is an all-volunteer movement founded in 1980 to recover food which would otherwise be discarded and share it with those in need. Chapters of the movement are found in over 1000 cities worldwide. In response to the pandemic, Seattle Food Not Bombs volunteers mobilized
and created Emerald City FNB (SODO) and a separate FNB group called the Emerald City Food Not Bombs Food Bank (Columbia City). SODO has a free market of high-quality organic deli items, produce, baked goods, dairy products, and canned and dry foods. We are also a distribution spot to other mutual aid groups like @seattlecommunityfridge 🌿
If you are interested in doing weekly donations to one of the Food Not Bombs markets, please message us here, or contact us at:
