I love the Southern California car culture. From the history to the diversity to the people, SoCal has it all. This was shot in 2019 at a little gathering in Pomona, CA called For The Love of Cars. It has everything from customs, to restomods, to lowriders, to traditionals, to bombs, to hot rods (which I brought) and even a few VW’s just for good measure. It was a super hot day, much like today (it’s over 100 degrees in Pomona today) and I was walking around in the sun with my camera when I came across this moment. Sometimes I’m a bit intimidated by people and don’t want to intrude but this day I stopped, pointed to my camera and they gave me the thumbs up. I made the shot and then talked briefly with these guys. They’re car people, just like me, and this beautiful '48 brought us together for just a minute. You could hear the owner’s passion as he talked about his car and I dig it. No matter who you are, where you come from or even the fact that I’m just a goofy white dude with a camera, people come together to share moments like this.
