I'm not good with details but I wanted to try. Not sure I like it but at least they have a title now

(the idea of strange creatures being used as entertainment also feels more like the vibe of the au)

Freak Show AU

Another AU I made up myself set in a horror-themed circus named Cirque Du Gothique in the late 1940s revolving around the goth kids, who’re the freaks. I’ll be making a profile for the goths in different posts.

We’ll start off with Michael aka “The Skeleton Boy” or “Skeletor”

Michael was born with a condition that made him abnormally tall and unhealthily thin, standing at 220cm in height and 64kg in weight. He also has arachnodactyly, which means he has very long fingers and toes. Additionally he has a third degree burn mark on the left side of his face and a wooden prosthetic leg. That’s why he walks around in a cane. Despite his appearance, he still made an effort to look like a normal gentleman by wearing Victorian suits and trench coats.

Michael originally came from a well-off family. His father married a Korean woman who was his mother but that was due to an Asian lady fetish. Despite his family’s status, Michael was mocked and abused by his peers from school and society due to his gangly, skeletal appearance. After his mother died of tuberculosis, Michael’s father remarried another woman with two children, who would later become his step-siblings. Disgusted by his looks, Michael’s step-siblings were resentful of him so they go out of their way to severely bully him in his own home. One time, his step-sister scalded the left side of his face with hot water as a ‘prank’, which is how he got that burnt mark. Michael tried to treat the burn with ice but it got worse so he has to be sent the hospital. The left side of his mouth was torn by the burn so the surgeons had to stitch it up. When his father asked about it, his step-sister lied about Michael being clumsy around the house.

Then one day, Michael couldn’t take the abuse anymore that he ran away from home. He ended up losing his left leg since it got stuck on the train tracks, which explains why he walks with a cane now. Eventually, the circus owner found Michael who was on the verge of dying and nursed him back to health at a hospital. Once he fully recovers, Michael works as a stagehand and contortionist for the circus since he never wanted to go back to his home that he hated so much. As a result, he turned very reclusive and hostile due to the abuse and mockery he endured as a child.

There’s two unspoken rules when it comes to the Skeleton Boy: DON’T talk to him before performances and DON’T enter his room. He isn’t nice or friendly so it won’t end well if you irritate him. Although he grew close to Henrietta, Pete and Firkle, he’s still closed off to everyone in the circus. Whenever he and the freaks aren’t performing or practicing, Michael would sketch, read and play cards with Firkle during his free time. He’s also skilled at playing the piano, violin and accordion.
