Much to Buck’s continued mortification, it doesn’t end there. Eddie keeps finding every opportunity to praise him, whether on his appearance, or his cooking, or his actions on a call, and Buck’s body keeps responding like that of a horny teenager.

For the life of him, he can’t seem to figure out if Eddie’s always been this verbally appreciative, or if something has changed. It’s not like Eddie never says nice things to him, but this feels bigger somehow, more intentional. He watches the rest of the team surreptitiously whenever it happens at work, and nobody else seems to have any reaction whatsoever to Eddie saying things like,‘you’re so good at that,’ when Buck does something as simple as successfully flipping a pancake in a frying pan.

Eddie just walks away leaving a stunned Buck behind, goes to his car, drives home, takes Chris to school, and it isn't until comes back home (probably doing laundry or getting ready to take a nap) when it hits him.

At first he's all like

But then he just relaxed and shrugs, "Well it's not not true" then goes on with his day

Meanwhile Buck is going through his five stages of freaking out bc that had to be a slip right?? Ofc that would mean everything if it wasn't but Eddie couldn't possibly see him as another parent. He's not worthy of that blah blah blah

i raise you it becoming a tradition and whenever jee is feeling sad chim cheers her up by gently poking her in the side and suggesting they get some juice pouches (or ice cream or other favorite snack) and they can put their feet up on the table cause mommy’s working she doesn’t have to know about it. and it starts when she’s tiny but even when she’s coming home from college and when she’s even older than that, that’s always their thing and how he cheers her up.

That’s beautiful! Yes!!!!! His relationship with jee is something he will always learn to grow no matter what age she is but this is their tradition now!

Can you imagine jee having a grouchy or just bad day at school and chim is very serious about it and teaches her about unwinding after school in front of the tv with their lil beverage (or whatever they have in the fridge)

(Also, Maddie totally knows. They always forget to wipe the table😂)

buck mentioning sex twice in that one conversation when it really didn’t have anything to do with anything at all had me. squinting. hm. (and he mentioned it a third time in relation to eddie after they walk away from the call about how eddie “turned her off” which, yes of course was a line played for comedy, but it wasn’t really what eddie was actually doing, and i’m sure buck knows that but he still found a way to mention it.)

we’ve talked about his hearteyes this episode and that’s valid but he did several things that bothered me a little bit this episode to the point where i have to believe it was on purpose and i feel like that has an equal part to play in the shift that we’re feeling.

does this make sense? if it doesn’t, just ignore this, i haven’t slept skdjsh

yeah, he seemed weirdly preoccupied with sex in this episode and while not all of it bothered me, his comment about shannon definitely did. eddie didn't really react much to any of it this episode, but if this weirdness continues, i can't see him keeping quiet about it

9-1-1 hot takes abt completed storylines ? 🔥👀

okay so i have a few?? idk if any of them are actually hot takes but anyways:

i hated loathed detested the way they handled maddie's storyline in s5. i can see what they were trying to do, but the sheer vitriol i've seen spouted at her as a result of it and then, obviously, because buck's the baby of the fandom, the way they treated chimney in the aftermath of the punch was downright fucking vile lol. i'm not gonna say anymore on that because it gets me SO angry, but i think both buck and chimney were trying to do what they thought was best, and i really don't think chimney can be faulted for having such an emotional visceral reaction given the circumstances.

i really didn't mind the idea of natalia as buck's girlfriend?? i actually really liked her, and from the few glimpses we got of her and of him i could see the compatibility. she was definitely done a little bit dirty in conjunction with the couch ending of it all and then the off screen breakup (i understand completely why this was done btw i'm just saying), i just wish we'd seen more of their relationship

okay. this one's a biggie maybe??? but i really wish less of season six had been buck focused. listen i love buck just as much as the rest of us, and i know there was plenty of other storylines in the season (bobby and the rehab, hen and conclusion of med school, madney proposal) but so much of the season had a very heavy buck angle to me, and it just felt off??? i don't know, this is fully personal opinion but. yeah.

no neethu i was thinking the same thing!!!!! the “she talked too much about death” gave me 6.12 vibes where we think eddie wasn’t telling the truth about the shooting. and since buck’s entire vibe was 🏳️‍🌈💗💙💜 this entire episode it made me very 👀 hm.

yeah, and this gonna be an unpopular opinion, but i don't think natalia was actually 'obsessed' with death to the point that it would be a breaking point for buck because she talked about nothing else. i definitely think buck was being untruthful here...and of course, eddie has no reason to suspect because he can only go off what buck's telling him. i have my own (delusional) theories about why buck would have lied, but let's first see if it ever gets brought up again xD
