the muppets would be hilarious to see in kingdom hearts now that I’m thinking about it because they’re from the ‘real world’ and more specifically in the entertainment industry and even more specifically the muppets are part of disney and my mind is running wild with possibilities

Headcanon - Not even the Conductor quite knows what exactly he's supposed to be, seeing as he was a foundling. The label of owl is purely because his adoptive parents passed him off as one, being owls themselves.

The Muppets pre-Disney had the purest expressions of woe and love to ever exist ever. No one will ever make me as emotional as an anxiety riddled bear singing about how much he misses his old life and opportunities even though his friends still love and support him no matter what. Absolutely nothing in this current world can measure up to the realism and gentle humor of the Muppets.

god damn, emotionally intense scenes always take me the longest to write. i can easily spend an hour tweaking a single paragraph to get the mood exactly right. i have written enough slight variations on some of these sentences to fill a document that's four times longer than the fic itself, fuck

(In a silent car ride with all 4/5 of my siblings)
Me: So like…what Muppet would I be?
Sister 1: Uh…the blue one…with the weird nose…no one knows what he is?
Sister 2: Gonzo. The alien.
Sister 1: Yeah! Him!
Brother: Ah, yeah. He was canonically declared an alien.
Me: Gonzo????
Sister 1: Yeah! Gonzo.
Sister 2: Definitely not Fozzie.
Me: Huh? Why “Definitely not Fozzie”????
Sister 1: You’re not funny enough to be Fozzie.
Me: What?! C’mon. Isn’t Fozzie’s schtick that he’s not funny enough?
Brother: That’s the joke.

I constantly think about the time I was talking to a friend about the muppets fanfic someone submitted to the literary magazine we used to work for and our professor overheard me talking about it. I explained to her how they made Kermit an incel then without missing a beat she goes “y’know, if any of the muppets were polyamorous, it would be gonzo” then just started the fucking lesson like nothing.

explain why in the tags. consider:
Miss Piggy knows karate
Animal is at least 60% feral
Sweetums is the size of a grown man
Gonzo does extreme stunts and considers torture fun
Uncle Deadly threw a man off a roof once
Constantine has a bear trap for teeth
Crazy Harry causes explosions and is also called. Crazy Harry

Each Dialtown cast member shares their favourite Muppet!
Idea: Characters from the cast of Dialtown are asked to share their favourite characters from The Muppets, in order to get the Muppets fandom on board with DT, which winds up being a largely fruitless ordeal.
Gingi insists that Grover and Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street are Muppets when asked, and takes it badly when Gingi is instead asked to name a character FROM The Muppet Show. The ensuing discussion that follows is much too rancid to be published online, making the time spent trying to calm Gingi down entirely in vain.
Tumblr media
Karen's comments are not published as she refuses to do ANYTHING other than vent frustrations about Kermit the Frog, making her comments unusable as they would undoubtedly piss off a large section of the Muppets fandom, who largely venerate Kermit the Frog.
Tumblr media
Randy tries to make an argument for Scooter being the 'best one', feeling that he, himself, is the scooter of the Dialtown cast, and thus, must stick up for one of his ilk. This answer is NOT published because the internet would tear him to shreds for playing devil's advocate for the worst Muppet.
Randy is then given another opportunity to pick a favourite Muppet, provided he selects a different Muppet. Randy picks Pepe the Prawn. When asked why Pepe is his favourite, tears well on his screen and he asks if he can leave to get a glass of water. Upon leaving the room, Randy never comes back. The answer isn't included in the article, as it's impossible to discern whether Randy feels that Pepe the Prawn is truly a kindred soul or if he was simply put on the spot and felt pressured to simply name the first Muppet he thought of.
Tumblr media
Oliver answers by explaining Gonzo is his favourite but every time he's given an opportunity to explain why, his explanation inevitably transitions into a rambling endorsement of anarchism. Each time, after he's been given an opportunity to explain himself, Oliver is asked to rephrase his answer to be less political and he accepts, apologizing for his mistake and swearing that he understands what the blog is looking for now. Oliver then proceeds to somehow transition back into an endorsement of anarchism until the interviewer gives up and decides to leave him out of the article.
Tumblr media
We're not actually sure who Norm likes the best from the Muppets cast because before we could get to Norm, Gingi (irate that Grover/Oscar the Grouch were rejected as its answer) told Norm about Big Bird dying in the Challenger explosion (which happened in DT's timeline), prompting Norm to get really upset and leave before his turn came up. Norm's favourite character is PROBABLY Sam Eagle, but now, we'll never get to know for sure. Thanks, Gingi.
Tumblr media
Mingus, when asked, declined to answer out of sheer disinterest. Upon being shown a photo of the extended Muppet cast, she arbitrarily pointed to Robin the Frog and said "That one, I guess." Upon being asked why she would pick Kermit's nephew of all characters, her response was: "It's no business of mine who this frog is related to. Nobody is well-connected enough to ensure they'll live if I deem them a threat to my success." After being reminded that Robin is canonically a child, Mingus retorted by pointing out that Robin is, in fact, a fictional frog puppet. Not sure what to do with this answer, but we certainly can't include it.
Tumblr media
Stabby + Shooty are asked for their favourites and they pick Statler and Waldorf respectively. When asked why, they explain it's because they're cool, wear suits, deliver CUTTING jabs, and each hang out with their best bro all day, not unlike themselves. The blog operator remarks: "Oh. I figured it was because, like you guys, they're kinda interchangeable and are pretty much overlooked by everyone", causing Stabby to angrily flip a table and storm out of the room. Shooty apologies meekly for his outburst and leaves to calm his companion down. The answer is not published as the interviewer had no clue which was Stabby and which was Shooty, thus being unable to accurately attribute the answers to either of them.
Tumblr media
Bigfoot's favourite character turns out to be Animal, and this is the only answer that ends up being published.
Tumblr media
Here's the finished article:
DIALTOWN ARTICLE, EACH OF THE CAST'S FAVOURITE MUPPETS: BIGFOOT'S IS ANIMAL.
The article only gets 3 likes.

I need to know about the muppets Rosencrantz and Guilderstern are dead!!!
Tumblr media
Okay, so, the big problem is doing a film adaptation of Rosencrantz and Guilderstern are Dead is that the fourth wall breaks simply work better on stage than they do on film. Much of the play happens on what we would consider “off stage” with Rosencrantz and Guilderstern filling up time waiting for their cue.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve got a soft spot for the film adaptation, but it’s clear that Tom Stoppard is a better writer than he is film director. Everything is staged rather stiffly and there is a neglect of certain film language he could be utilizing to replicate the meta aspects of the stage production. Now what company of players have made jumping rope with the fourth wall an art form? Enter, The Muppets.
Tumblr media
Now the big thing that gonna make this work is treat it as if the Muppets are doing their own version of Hamlet and cast accordingly. Miss Piggy as Gertrude, Fozzie is Polonius, big celebrity as Hamlet and most importantly Gonzo as Rosencrantz and Rizzo and Guilderstern.
Have them clearly on set and shot exactly how like it would shot in the play for their scenes (including Muppet appropriate jokes), but when they’re “off screen” switch to an almost candid camera and have them switch almost entirely to Stoppard’s words with minimal to no Muppet gags to emphasize that this is them when the cameras aren’t rolling.
And here’s the big kicker, cast Frank Oz as The Player and the rest of the Tragedians as the actual puppeteers. Full faces, everything.
Tumblr media
Are you starting to see it? All of these actors playing roles within roles, stuck in a loop and trying to find some meaning in all of it. Examining the Muppets themselves as both the characters they are and the people we so often think of them as truly being.
And, most important of all, Gonzo the Great performing the “In a Box” speech.
Tumblr media
TLDR: The Muppets are the only troop I trust to make an interesting and loyal Rosencrantz and Guilderstern Are Dead adaptation.

Every time I see some idiot proclaim "Jim Henson wouldn't have wanted this" under queer-positive, anti-racist or otherwise anti-bigotry posts by Sesame Street, Muppets or related fan accounts, I gotta laugh.
Like, do y'all know who Jim Henson even WAS?! He was, by the gods, no perfect person, but do y'all honestly think he'd be on your side as you spew hatred against minorities? The man that had a TV series created with the literal goal to teach equality and social systems and that'd help stop wars?!
Actually, let me bring up other Muppeteers while I am at it, who'd likewise not support y'alls crap: Dave Goelz, famously basing his characters on himself at least in part, playing the very gender-expression-flexible Gonzo and supporting the queercoding of Boober in "The Glow". Bill Baretta, performing Pepe the King Prawn who canonically has described sexuality as fluid. Richard Hunt, who performed Scooter, Mudwell the Mudbunny and many more, a gay puppeteer. Frank Oz, performer of Fozzy Bear, Animal, Bert, Miss Piggy and more, 1st Gen. Immigrant from a Jewish-Catholic mixed family. Kevin Clash, a Black man who made his own career as a puppeteer since he was a teenager. I could go on and on. Aymee Garcia. Peter Linz. Frank Meschkuleit. John Tartaglia.
Your bigotry has no place on Sesame Street, nor with any Muppet media. It never has. From the start, Jim Henson, his fellow creatives, and the people who carry on his work have promoted kindness, education, creativity and equality.
If you think any of them would agree with your bigotry, you have not been paying attention.

BEHOLD! A Muppet Lost Boys AU inspired and thought of by the lovely @gothamslostboy !!! Gotta say the idea immediately put me into a doodle frenzy that I just had to sketch these out really quick! Also have a little rambling if it was an actual movie.
Now, I know what the poll was probably asking was which actual Muppet character would be who- I.E David as Kermit, Rizzo as Marko, or something, but I wanted to explore a more rare idea I’ve seen the Muppets do.
The original cast is very much still around and in the movie, but not the full attention as Michael and the Lost Boys would be. Kermit could maybe be some kind of narrator at the beginning or break the fourth wall here and there with the other Muppet cast following. I’ve seen something like this done in Emmet Otter’s Jug-band Christmas if you wanna get what I’m trynna say, the main plot and focus is with Michael at the puppet Lost Boys, but we aren’t about to go a whole Muppet movie with the Muppets!
I also thought it was a totally cool idea if maybe even Rizzo and Gonzo were like the Frog Brother’s or something- kinda like their dynamic in Treasure Island for those who have seen that one. Also think that Michael wouldn’t be the only human in this universe, I feel like it’d be a mix that’s again, in a lot of Muppet movies where there are people and Muppets, and I think the main folks who wouldn’t be Muppets would be the whole Emerson family, Laddie, and Max.
And we CAN’T forget the actor/super star cameos, those just have to be sprinkled in here and there… Also thought it’d be kinda funny if the Lost Boy Muppets weren’t played by their original live action counter parts, the real TLB cast could make some cameo and say something goofy or witty.
I’m thinking way too much into this anyway thank you for coming to my Ted Talk about MUPPETS.
