Week 12 - Thursday (19/11)

Today was IDFA viewing day. Ana watched the film and has started preparing questions to ask Mr. Krikke. The Press Junket will take place next Monday (23/11) in the Bushuis building. Audrey and possibly Nynke will accompany her for support on the day. 

We also finally have an interview! This man’s name is Rob and he runs a canal boat tour business in Amsterdam. He has agreed to meet us for an interview at Nynke’s apartment next Monday (23/11) as well. For this interview, Maxwell will be preparing a number of questions to ask that relate not only to the collapse of the Grimburgwal, but also his personal life and his thoughts on the canals in general. 

Rosa and Nynke will also be looking over the B-Roll footage that Audrey and Nynke got the Monday and Thursday before that. Should we need any extra footage we still have sometime next week to do so.

The Oudezijdsvoorburgwal, often abbreviated to OZ Voorburgwal, is a street and canal in the Red Light District in the center of Amsterdam . The OZ Voorburgwal runs from the Grimburgwal in the south to the Sea Wall in the north, where he becomes the Oudezijds Kolk , Load on the IJ . The OZ Voorburgwal is rich in contrasts. On the one hand it is one of the most famous streets of the Red Light District, full of sex shops, window prostitutes, peep shows , brothels , bars and coffee shops ( The Bulldog is here even more affiliates and a hotel ). On the other hand, it is full of monumental canal houses from the Golden Age and the remains of the many monasteries here in the Middle Ages were. In the 17th and 18th century canal usually called the Velvet Burgwal. The bridge over the OZ Voorburgwal between Damstraat and Old Doelstraat is a clear dividing line between the northern Wall Part noisy and the quiet southern part. Originally the OZ Voorburgwal was a creek which was further excavated a canal to the eastern part of the city, the old side. For 1385 shared the Amstel Amsterdam city into two almost equal parts, the old side of the Old Church and the new side with the New Church . To protect the city was one on each side behind a moat ramparts, an earthen rampart , with a wooden palisade to foreclosure. Then behind these walls around 1385 new walls were built, the existing Voorburgwal the shore and the new shore Achterburgwal, both the old and the new side. Thus arose the Oudezijdsvoorburgwal, Oudezijdsachterburgwal , Nieuwezijdsvoorburgwal and Nieuwezijds Achterburgwal (now Spuistraat ). In the construction of the buildings on the Oudezijdsvoorburgwal were moat gardens built behind the mansions. Today they are almost all gone.

Sense8 #204 “Polyphony”

A chase in San Francisco, a protest in Mumbai, a riot in Nairobi, and a fight in Seoul.

The episode opens in the Rijksmuseum where Will and Riley have to escape after the murder committed by Whispers.

The hacker team help them escape from 50 Liberty Dock, but then Bug has some serious questions for Nomi about those voices in her head.

Will exits the employee door of the museum and then walks down the street talking with the cluster. The exterior of the museum is the University of Amsterdam’s BG 3 and the nearby street is the Grimburgwal bridge nearby.

Sun spends some time practicing atop the Shinlim Gungyoung Apartments and later Detective Mun shows up to chase her.

Kala and Rajan go to an art show at Gallery Maskara where Kala meets Ajay before having an encounter with Wolfgang in the bathroom.

Nomi watches through the video while Amanita works an author reading at the City Lights Bookstore where she works.

Capheus returns the Van Damn to Kibera Town Centre where Zakia is waiting to ask for a followup story.

Kala finally returns to the Babulnath Temple where her father-in-law was stabbed and witnesses a dangerous protest.

At the same time Capheus is involved in a near riot over watch under the Southern Bypass overpass in Kibera.

Amanita leaves work and spots Agent Bendix watching her from across the street. She speeds down the adjacent Jack Kerouac Alley on her motorcycle.

Bendix chases Amanita across town starting east down Green Street before turning onto Montgomery towards downtown.

The chase continues through Chinatown with Amanita being followed up Grant Avenue and down Spofford Street.

Bendix scrapes the bottom of his car on the ground after jumping off the top of Filbert Street east of Hyde.

Amanita finally escapes pursuit back in Chinatown when she turns out of Spofford Street onto Washington Street where she disappears.

Kala returns to her home at the Oricon House where she learns that due to some threats she’s been assigned a security guard by the government.

I still need to identify the drug lab & new hideout in Amsterdam, the nightclub & Lila’s stakeout in Berlin, Raoul's house in Mexico City, the lobby of Kala’s home in Mumbai, Sun’s match in Seoul, and the cabin in the woods.

Na een half jaar kwam mijn vader in 1950 uit de psychiatriese inrichting en begon zich weer incidenteel met onze opvoeding te bemoeien, uiteraard op negatieve, desastreuze wijze, ondanks dat wij bij de grootouders woonden.

Ik voelde me ongemakkelijk de schaarse keren dat ik hem zag. De inhoud van zijn antiquariaat aan de Grimburgwal was door zijn tweede vrouw geroofd en verkocht aan een ex-SS-er…
