As of today, March 28th, 2024, I am 16 and a half. In EXACTLY 18 months, I will be 18. Once I turn 18, I am IMMEDIATELY booking a tele-consult from the surgeon I want to go to. If all goes smoothly, I could potentially get top surgery as early as Winter of 2025-Spring of 2026.

At my big age, who celebrates ½ birthdays right? But a lot of my peers didn’t make it to this age. There were days that I didn’t think I could have made it to this age. And for that reason, is why I’m choosing to celebrate every milestone I reach — from ½ birthdays to goals accomplished.

I love celebrating my half birthday because it's just less stressful in general. I invited my friend over for a chicken and rice dinner where we loudly talked shit and then moved to the floor of my bedroom with cupcakes and yelled at my computer as we watched The Kissing Booth to mock every single spoken line. I bought myself a sewing machine. My friend made it home safe. We were goofy. There was no pressure to have the perfect day or to answer texts because the only person that knew was the girl that I invited to my two person celebration. It's so freeing to celebrate a half birthday.

It’s maddens half birthday today, 11.5 years old❤️. We have celebrated this milestone his entire life, because childhood goes by in a wink (second pic circa 2015).

I took a few hours off work today and we went to the children’s museum, got hair cuts for school, picked out first day of school clothing, went swimming, and are doing homemade pizza and enjoying some yummy cannoli’s tonight to celebrate.

It’s tradition to celebrate, a small and mighty gesture to embrace a moment. This boy, golly where do I start!? He is kind (like really kind…like he is a GOOD human), he is smart, and he has a sense of humor that can make me laugh cry. Madden, we love you so!

Sometimes I wonder if we celebrate too much, then I laugh. Heck no, life is too short. Celebrate it ALL! Onwards and upwards ❤️
