I got into a car accident yesterday and my very fucked up car is currently parked in front of my apartment and when I was coming home from work today (in my rental car) a kid that lives in my apartment complex who I've never met stopped me and asked what happened to my car. I told him I didn't look before I turned and got t boned (figured it might at least teach the kid to be responsible when he's old enough to drive you know?) and he told me that his friend got into a car accident last year and went to the hospital. I told him that really sucks and I'm sorry to hear that. And he told me that he's glad I'm okay. And then he ran back to play basketball with his friends.

#I'm emotional in general today for obvious reasons but I keep thinking about that kid and tearing up #I hope his friends okay. I'm amazed that he was so kind and caring to a complete stranger. #I'm sort of worried about how comfortable he seemed talking to a strange adult but we are neighbors and he was in view of his house the #Whole time so that's probably fine. #Also for the record I DID look before I turned. Not hard enough I guess. The other guy was speeding but I should have seen him #But since I was talking to a ten year old I figured it was best to 1) take responsibility and 2) show how dangerous irresponsible driving #Can be to you know. Lord this lil girl just called me at 2am. Her boyfriend wrecked his truck while speeding and losing control. The side she usually sits on was crushed. She wasn't in the car but it scared the hell out of her because I'd just spoken to her about her speeding tickets and Sage driving.

She builds trucks from the ground up so she's a fan of pushing her vehicles. But being an automotive enthusiast and dating someone who is a careless driver doesn't mean you get to risk your and everyone else's lives too. "You're not invincible, you're 22" etc etc.

So yeah, his young ass almost died on a Saturday night and she's a bit shaken up. She called me saying she was gonna stop speeding and that I was right. She spoke about how scary it all was, seeing him in the hospital even though he's fine. His whole family was there at 1am. I told her if I'm just her friend and even I answered my phone in a panic, can you imagine his mother? That's her child.

And seriously, getting her call made me realize I made the right choice to not have kids because that 2am call...honey. My heart fell in my ass. I'm just a work mom. I'm supposed to be paying for lunch, giving Sephora gift cards and maybe taking you to the airport.
