He can’t help it, his eyes are drawn to Mika’s movements. The sinewy grace of his spine, the long line of him, the purposeful way he walks, shoulders pulled back straight, and chin jutted forward defiantly. He’s all sharp lines and angles, he stands out in stark contrast, nothing like the light, blurry sepias Yuu dreamed him in.

It’s strange, to have Mika occupy space next to him again. Yuu doesn’t want to look away for fear that Mika will disappear, like a mirage.

Mika is a case study in hubris. He thought he was so smart and clever for thinking of a plan to escape the vampires. He believed that he, foolish, naive, stupid human could outsmart a vampire. It was his foolish, stupid, plan that caused the deaths of all of his siblings and for him to be turned into a vampire. He relied too much on the assumption that vampires would never expect the children to try to escape from Sanguinem. It’s his fault, his own hubris. Mika was outsmarted and humiliated, and everyday has to live with the consequences.

like, on the one hand... yeah, she was growing up in faerie same as jude, and she had to find her own ways of coping, same as jude......but i just don’t like her.

jude may not be a good person but at least she’s not annoying. i’ve never wanted to slap her. (at least i’ve never wanted to do anything other than shake her and be like GO HOME TO CARDAN YOU IDIOT IT WAS A RIDDLE HE WANTS YOU) and a lot of jude’s bad decisions are predicated on like... trying to make things happen. she never blamed taryn for trying to fit in and trying not to make waves, but taryn constantly blamed jude for the ways that she found to cope, and it was incredibly unfair, especially since it seemed like taryn never bothered trying to understand her sister.

and then she showed up on jude’s doorstep anyway because suddenly she was in a jam and desperately needed help and she knew that the only one who could help her was the sister she had always... not despised, but disdained. and suddenly it was jude’s way of doing things that she needed and i just.

like i said. i get it. it was an awful situation for both of them. but i just don’t like taryn, and nothing has ever really changed that.

Fortnight: what wip do you plan on posting next, if at all?

Alright, I swore to myself that after Zutara Month, I'd get back into the three fics I've got in progress right now (not to mention the kiss prompts I still have in my ask box here yikes). But then inspiration struck and I haven't been able to focus on anything else.

So next up is going to be a Zutara modern AU one-shot from Aang's point of view. It's killing me. I have never written from Aang's point of view and have done very little with him in my fics because I'm just terrible at writing him, so it's...rough. But I'm trying! And the only way to get better at something is to try. (But readers shouldn't expect it to be up to my usual standards, that's all I'm saying.)

Here's a lil snippet!

For the first time since her winter formal, she’s wearing her hair loose. Just looking at her from the other end of the hallway makes him feel jittery and flushed. He watches her laugh while she slings her bag over her shoulder and can’t help but grin.

There’s no other girl in the world who holds a candle to Katara.

Aang takes a few steps forward and then falters as she closes her locker door. Standing on the other side is a familiar golden-eyed face framed by loose black hair. The grin on Aang’s face slides into a frown.

Zuko. He’s actually smiling. And he’s pressing his hand to the small of Katara’s back as they turn in Aang’s direction, too caught up in their conversation to notice him right away. The noise in the hallway turns to a strange, slow motion roar in Aang’s ears as Katara and Zuko stride down the hallway. He’s convinced they’re going to stroll right past him, positive that they won’t notice the small wave he sends their way.

Forever: do you balance fic writing with original concept stuff?

I have to! At least ten hours of every day are spent on my original work. I'm lucky to have writing as my job. But I always make sure to dedicate time to fic every day, usually at night once my S.O. has fallen asleep. I'm a night owl and fic keeps me company in those late hours. It's also a great way to let my imagination have other outlets than just my original works!

i don’t necessarily have a favorite, i just buy what’s cheap/nice when i get the chance—but when i had my job and i had money to spend, i would buy nike. so...i guess nike, even tho i haven’t bought anything from that brand in a while...cause i am broke now. but it’s okay tho! i have what i need and that’s what matters! :D

i don’t know if this counts bc it’s just a rumor i heard, but a girl in my grade was apparently going to give a blowjob to her one of her guy friends....on the school bus....while the guy’s friend would record it. it never happened, just to be clear 😭😭😭 we were in sophomore year of high school, too. we were all young, so like- i don’t know. i don’t even know.

i hope that girl is okay tho. she went through stuff and she transferred schools when sophomore year ended.

people would say she actually did suck her friend’s dick, but i honestly doubt it bc the video never circulated around/i rode the same bus as her and she would get off before me. that’s not enough time to suck a dick without having a bus full of teen noticing. also i overheard her guy friend suggesting she do it and i....don’t remember what she said/don’t remember if i even heard what she said in the first place, so yeah—i don’t think she did it. i really doubt she did it.

I must say, it was because of your blog that I started to warm up to Sokkla as a ship. Thank you for that! I might change my previous headcanon and start headcanoning Azula as bi or pan instead of lesbian. Hell, I might even start writing Sokkla fanfiction! I'm a Zutara shipper, and even when I was neutral about Sokkla, I found the idea of Zuko and Sokka as concuñados (like we say in my country) (it's a colloquial word, doesn't translate but it's like saying "mutual brothers-in-law") absolutely hilarious! I always crack up when I picture how the two of them would react after an arc of Zutara and Sokkla secret relationship:

Zuko: "I can't believe you're dating my sister!"

Sokka: "You're dating MY sister!"

And they would be mad at each other for, like, five minutes because they feel they broke some rule in Bro Code™, but then Katara and Azula state how obviously ridiculous they are being, and they go on a double date, and Sokka feels a bit out of place because he is the only straight one there — (decided, Azula just joined Katara on my list of pansexual headcanons, and my headcanon for Zuko is still demibisexual) — but Azula tells Sokka he is being the most ridiculous person ever, she believed she was straight for years and it didn't keep her from being awesome, and even if Sokka is not as awesome as she was/is, he is pretty damn close. If he wasn't, she wouldn't hang out with him. She has STANDARDS, y'know? (◡ ω ◡)

Sorry, this turned into a rant/headcanon, but it has been living rent-free in my mind since forever ago! I finally found the motivation to voice it ⊙﹏⊙

Adding to that last ask about to what point we were allowed to say "that's not canon" in the LA... the answer also applies to whatever Avatar Studios makes. The last works on the ATLA-verse have been so divorced from OG canon that it's very difficult to tell they are "official" content and they have performed JK Rowling's moves in the past saying characters were LGBTQIA all along despite not showing it on the work. It's what they did with that Aiwei guy from Zhaofu... after they killed him. What is even the point of pulling stunts like that? And what great addition do they make to the plot/character arc that they are indisputably, imperatively canon? 🙄

Oh exactly. I mean, we've already gotten plenty of practice ignoring the comics and LoK--if whatever Avatar Studios comes out with is more of the same (which I suspect is likely if Bryke maintain the level of creative control they had, unless they're smart and just focus on different eras and new characters), then we can ignore that, too. Or take whatever gems might be found in the rough and leave the rest.

Ultimately, at the end of the day, what is canon to the original show begins and ends with the animation on the screen--and that can be kept or discarded at our leisure, too. (See: how many of us just ignore the epilogue, bc we are so very valid.)

If Bryke are hoping to, idk, get us to stop shipping zutara after all this time or something, they've got a whole other thing coming lmao.

I'm one of those people that stay in only their fave corners of every fandom, that way I almost never find content I don't like, but it honestly bothers me SO much to even think that there are people saying the DekuSquad is more concerned over him than Bakugou, or that Bakugou is just angry for the sake of being angry.

Okay, first of all, this is not a competition. EVERYONE is concerned over Deku, the guy is in COMA with his TWO arms fractured, for God's sake!

Second of all, Bakugou was unconscious for what we can assume was a hella lot of time, too... and it was all BECAUSE he literally took around five bullets (attacks, blasts, whatever you want to call them) for Deku. Even with the English translation, Bakugou fainted for only who knows how long because he was trying to keep Deku from getting harmed, he made a selfless sacrifice like that, and the first thing he learns after waking up is that a) he didn't succeed and Shigaraki hurt Deku, and b) Deku isn't showing any signs of waking up after all of it. People can't say that isn't an upsetting situation. And Bakugou IS pretty much upset: he tore off his bandages, his IV, he is being physically restrained atm by three different people, and he out loud said he ISN'T alright, all because he is trying to get into Deku's room and people won't let him. What part of THAT says that he ISN'T concerned?!

I just wish someone would acknowledge it, even for a second.

Oh, my gosh!! I just read Haru's birthday story!! I can't believe it, Haru — aloof, stoic, I-only-care-about-feeling-the-water Haru — laughed because of a single text from Rin Matsuoka! I can't, I'm already crying! 😭😭

I knoooow, “Haruka Nanase laughing” was like an internet phenomena for years, there’re like thousands of vids of just that one scene on youtube, when they forced it by tickling, and two of his other slight chuckles. Haruka Nanase laughing is like the eighth wonder of the world.

and now he’s laughing at Rin’s text... the fuck is that... okay... yeah, nothing to see here. 

and I really enjoyed how both of their birthdays started tbh. Rin dreaming of Haru, feeling his breathing, his heartbeat and the water being hot and then feeling a bit dazed from the after effects of this dream for a while.. I know we’ve already discussed their swimming metaphors, but we all know what it sounded like. they really just went and made an innuendo about Rin.. having a wet dream.. on his birthday... about Haru... I’m so done with these two seriously.
