So we all the love the whumpee-thinks-caretaker-is-their-new-master trope but what if it's true
Caretaker who did buy whumpee, and who does wholeheartedly believes and acts like whumpee belongs to them
But damn it they take great care of their possessions. After all, cats and dogs get spoiled with treats and comfy beds and vet visits when they're sick and cuddles and a form of love
Why should a slave be any different? Especially because caretaker bought whumpee for companionship
Plus whumpee can tidy up, cook for themselves, hold a conversation, and even play games like cards or board games, and can go everywhere caretaker can
That's infinitely better than a cat or dog.
It's just such a shame their old owner was so terrible. Whumpee is so timid now, and nearly skin and bone. But that's nothing a good owner can't fix, right? The poor thing needs some proper structure and attention that's all. It's a good thing whumpee is human. It would be a lot harder to rehabilitate a rescue who can't comprehend speech.
And whumpee doesn't want to leave. Fetching files from a desk and playing checkers and occasionally cleaning the kitchen while master chatters about work is far better than being locked in a cold basement and getting beaten every day
Their new master doesn't lay a hand on them, their version of punishment is no music while doing chores, or no dessert
After all, you wouldn't hit your dog. Caretaker's new pet deserves at least that

love when people ask me why im chill with rough things. bestie you have no idea how difficult i am to live with. im as chill as i can w my friends bpd mood swings because im an irrational bitch sometimes and i think the most constructive thing to do is to provide support through it. i give to homeless ppl collecting downtown because i know how this whole depression-school struggles-etc would've worked out for me if i hadn't lucked out in a family with ressources, and how it could still turn if my parents cut me off or smth. "ooooh you give too much" and i feel bad about it, and greedy, and im mad abt losing money, and im mad people might be looking at me, and i'm mad not everybody is looking at my good deed. and it's still not enough. and i know i CAN afford that, i could probably afford MORE, and i hope it helps out a little. money or patience. i wish i could, if not be better, at least have some way to quantify my usefulness. i hope im not fumbling anything. i cant just go through life being an asshole without weighting a little the other side of the balance at least. i dont get agressive when an acquintance acts cold or a little rude towards me because i do not give a shit what's girl-from-bio-class' prejudice. i dont care she pushed a chair to me in a dismissive manner. sure i want to be liked but i dont think she thinks im a bad person or anything so she can subjectively dislike me all she wants. "defend yourself" dang from what. mild passive-agressivity? maybe im just apathetic but like. bestie i love you and we have a good relationship but you have been more harmful to me in the past week than this mildly rude behavior.

the post-grad unemployment blues have not been helping my annual summer depression, so my brain has been... not great. my lease is up in just a few days, but i can't move into a new apartment until i know where i'll be working. i'm having to put all my shit in storage until i can find something. it's been rough.* but i spent a few days at Books' this week and even though everything sucks, they did a lovely job cheering me up. when i got to theirs, they surprised me with a silly and refreshing beverage i'd previously mentioned in passing that i wanted to try** and this book that they picked up from work.*** then they took me to their campus so we could play board games on the massive group study tables.**** we got dinner at my favorite ethiopian place in the city. we cozied up in bed and double featured they cloned tyrone and the lighthouse (which they hadn't seen before). i finally got to an alamo drafthouse weird wednesday! we saw let the corpses tan,***** after a delightfully nasty late night diner breakfast. we played mario kart and i lost, terribly, but still had fun.
i also had an interview yesterday, for a job that sounds like a great fit for me.****** all of my interviews so far have been strange, for one reason or another, but this one may have been the strangest- because halfway through, the interviewer started pitching me a different position that sounds AMAZING.******* i'd be happy with either. i really hope this works out. i should be having a second interview next week.
i'm back at my apartment now and i have to be out by monday afternoon. i'm glad to be leaving this place, even though things are still so up in the air. and even though i haven't been my best lately, i'm glad to know that i am still loved.

the US, sending Eleanor Roosevelt to be the Chair of the drafting committee in charge of creating the Universal Declaration for Human Rights:
[Image Description: a screenshot from the United Nations website. It reads, "Article 25: 1. Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control." End of image description.]
the US: ok so how do we do that
the US: oh, i know! :)
the US:
[Image Description: 2 screenshots from google. The first says, "Types / Types of hostile architecture". In bold are the words "This list is far from exhaustive and is in no particular order." Followed by a bulleted list with many entries that trail off, reading:
"Slanted benches: More than just an uncomfortable seat. ...
Armrests on benches: They're not for your arms. ...
Rocky pavements: The reason behind unusual paving...
Spiked windowsills: Not just for the birds. ...
Segmented benches: An unusual design with a purpose."
The listing has a link with the text reading "More items..." and is from an article titled "15 Examples of 'Anti-Homeless' Hostile Architecture" from interestingengineering.com, November 22, 2020.
It then has another section titled "Cost / Hostile architecture cost" with a blurb that reads "It costs taxpayers $31,065 a year to criminalize a single person suffering from homelessness — through enforcement of unconstitutional anti-panhandling laws, hostile architecture, police raids of homeless encampments, and just general harassment. The cost of providing them supportive housing — $10,051 per year." The section is from an article entitled "The Cost to Criminalize Homelessness" from homelessvoice.org, May 10, 2021.
The second screenshot says, "Purpose / What is the point of hostile architecture" with a blurb that reads, "Hostile architecture is an urban-design strategy that uses elements of the built environment to purposefully guide or restrict behaviour. It often targets people who use or rely on public space more than others, such as youth, poor people, and homeless people, by restricting the physical behaviours they can engage in." This section is from the Wikipedia article for Hostile Architecture.
The last section is titled "Pros / Pros of hostile architecture" with a blurb that reads, "By preventing loitering, hostile architecture discourages drug drops and pushes out the homeless (CNN). These eyesores, which somewhat resemble medieval torture methods, allow hostility to permeate public spaces." This section is from an article entitled, "Hostile Architecture - Dear Asian Youth" from dearasianyouth.org, February 21, 2021.
End of Image Description.]
the US: omg we did such a good job these things totally match we definitely fixed the problem instead of making it worse or harming more people :)))
