Based on these headcanons welcome to the story of Clegan and Webgott parent best friends!

•Taking place in sunny San Diego, John is splitting his time. Hes embraced being a stay at home dad when he’s not on base. He had done two and a half tours in Iraq, when he got back home he didn’t want to give it up. Hell, he himself had gone to Top Gun. Now he was just Naval aviation instructor at the base, teaching young pilots how to fly and in-formation, some basic dog fighting. Nothing special like Top Gun though, is what he always says, when people ask.

•Gale is the Navy wife, San Diego? Cheyanne? Manitowoc? He didn’t care where they were he just wanted to be with John. But they had made their home here now. He’s a library director at the county library, he bakes, and he’s a full time mom and Bucky wrangler.

•Lieb, similar to John, had a career in the military. He did two tours in the 101st, essentially coming to an end when he messed up his knee after a helicopter crash. He had lost part of his unit and had to pull his Major out of the wreckage. When he got back San Francisco just didn’t feel right. Nothing did, he couldn’t adjust and everything felt threatening. Bingers he went until he met Web at a bar. They hit it off and something in him flipped. The more he went on dates with this guy and spent time with him he could distract himself from the intense feelings. It then gave him a purpose to really seek out help. After he got sober and him and Web got serious. They decided maybe a change of scenery is what they needed.

•Perfect timing and a job opened up researching marine life at San Diego State uni. Web applied and interviewed the two of them holding their hands tight as Web awaited the news. They were really holding out for the news he got the job. They had found the perfect loft apartment and everything. Come Monday when he got the call he had gotten the job they started packing.

•John and Gale have been married since 2014. they have an adopted daughter named Louisa but they call her Lou. She’s their entire world, Johns got her convinced to become a pilot someday. When Lou gets to go to work Gale if he has a meeting, she’ll spend the entire time looking at books about planes. She knows where all of them in the library are located.

•Gales favorite mental image is of John and Lou sitting on the floor of the library. Book in John’s lap, Lou next to him peering over. John’s telling Lou about all the different kinds of military aviation devices there is.

•John, although thousands of miles from Americas dairyland. Will not forget his Wisconsin dad mannerisms. Him and Lieb stand in the driveway together and drink and talk multiple times a week. John’s usually grilling something, they have the garage fridge that’s stocked full of bud light and diet come. (And some juice pouches for the girls.). He still has his midwestern accent, “you tell ya folks I says hi.” “bAg.” “Go packers and fuck da bears.” Gale is cringing everytime the accent comes out and plays. Gale ALSO hates the Midwest goodbyes, John’s a life long pro at them.

• “John let’s go you’ve said bye four times now.”

• “Wait a minute! Chick is fetching me his mom’s bread recipe!”

•This is how John gets his call sign Badger.

•He tells them that his call sign should just be Bucky. But Curt and the other guys have other thoughts. So, they start calling him Badger, well like, Bucky Badger. The states mascot. So, it stuck.

•Curt was John’s wingman until during their third tour Curt crashed. He lost his leg, lost his other best friend and back seater Dicky. Curt lore to come later!

•Web and Lieb have their daughter, Thalia through surrogacy from one of Joes sisters. Thalia is a lot like Lieb, hot headed, doesn’t think before she does, and has that Liebgott sass. She’s gotten herself into trouble a few time, as we know now, using that attitude. But she does carry some Webster in her, other than her Carmel curls just like Webs, she also loved books, She really likes writing stories in her journal.

•When Thalia was younger Lieb broke out his old guitar and tuned it. He would play and sing for her all the time. It would calm her down and he would sing her to sleep sometimes. Although he’d never admit that he sings.

•Curt and Lieb go to the same veterans support group at the VA together. Curt’s quickly became Thalias uncle too. Everyone loves Uncle Curt and his cool stories.

•Web and Lieb are just so happy together :)) even when Lieb is being a little shit and poking fun at him. Or when Web goes out on that damn boat that he knows Lieb hates. At the end of the day Web lets Lieb wrestle him for kisses in bed.

Announcement: Please Participate in the Citizen Census Survey!

All Citizens of the Hermit Citizen Hub are being counted in the Hermit Citizen Census! If you are a past or present participant of the Hermit Citizen Community, no matter how much or how little you have participated, we ask that you fill out one response per each of your Citizens (one survey response per character) in the Hermit Citizen Survey linked here:

If your Citizen does not have a Citizen I.D. Card, please create one and place it in a new post in the #Citizen-Information forum thread on the Hermit Citizen Hub Discord Server in addition to filling out this Survey.

This Survey asks for each Citizen’s name, species, age, height, pronouns, base location, occupation and included duties, Citizen affiliations, Hermit affiliations, and the names of any shops that are owned by each Citizen. Please answer each question to the best of your ability, and fear not if you do not have a definitive answer for each question. For example, if your Citizen does not have a base, you are more than welcome to state this as well.

We ask that you answer all of the questions OUT of character from the perspective of you as the creator, NOT as your character. For example, if your Citizen tells everyone that they are a human but they are really a shapeshifter, you should still state their species as “Shapeshifter” in the Survey. In addition, we ask that you keep each response separate for each Citizen you are referring to. For example, if you have created five Citizens, take the survey five times to ensure that all of your Citizens are accounted for accurately.

This Survey is imperative to ensuring that every Hermit Citizen is accounted for and that you can see your Citizen in the final Census. You and the Citizens you have made have crafted the history, lore, and livelihood of the Hermit Citizen world. Regardless of whether you have made a single Citizen and moved on, or if you are a daily voice in this community, the goal of this Census is to celebrate the inimitable creativity of each artist, writer, crafter, and builder who has participated in the Hermit Citizen Community.

Weekly Weather Report

Weather Forecast for the Hermit Citizen Hub, week of Wednesday, June 14th to Tuesday, June 20th. Temperatures are written in Celsius Format.

Wednesday - Mostly Sunny. Temperatures range from 18 degrees to 25 degrees Celsius. Earthquakes may happen more frequently than usual near The Perimeter. Flight courses will be held at 1 PM around the large floating rocks.

Thursday - Sunny and warm. Temperatures range from 22 degrees to 31 degrees Celsius. Park rangers may appear sporadically to warn Citizens of potential wildfires developing across the Server throughout the month.

Friday - Downpours. Temperatures range from 8 degrees to 15 degrees Celsius. There is a small chance of these downpours turning to thunderstorms early in the morning. If this is the case, expect skies to clear up very quickly if Bdubs is in the area.

Saturday - Cloudy, foggy during the morning and afternoon. Temperatures range from 12 degrees to 17 degrees Celsius. Growling may be heard near both Cleo’s and Cub’s museums during the evening hours.

Sunday - Sunny and hot. A heat wave is expected. Temperatures range from 29 degrees to 34 degrees Celsius. Citizens are advised to stay hydrated and limit outside exercise. This is a great day to visit the beach. Whirlpools continue to appear occasionally, so take caution if you are planning on swimming.

Monday - Partly Cloudy. Heat continues, with temperatures ranging from 31 degrees to 39 degrees Celsius. All ice cream stands in Scarland will be half-priced. They will also open two hours earlier with an additional assortment of flavors. Dust devils may be seen in all desert areas from late morning into late afternoon.

Tuesday - Rainy. The heat wave is expected to end. Showers on and off are expected among clouds throughout the morning. Temperatures range from 19 degrees to 28 degrees Celsius. Flash floods are possible throughout the evening hours. Citizens are advised to take caution if they are traveling on foot.

Libra: Bring popcorn to the Perimeter you will need it due to what is happening with Virgo and Aquarius. 

Scorpio: You notice there’s a lot of tension between Virgo and Aquarius lately that no one seems to know the reason behind it. You may want to dig into it and find out what’s the matter before something explodes.

Sagittarius: Make sure to prepare the shelter, do not deny you don’t have it. You do. 

Capricorn: You never knew the origin of your family, and maybe that was for the best. You should not look into it as that will not help your situation. 

Aquarius: Don’t mind Virgo’s suspiciousness, there’s been a lot of rumours going around lately and they’re probably nervous. Maybe you should bake them something to calm their nerves!

Lost and Found

All of the following items have been brought to The Overseer staff’s office for safekeeping until they are claimed. If you recognize one of these items as yours, please visit us to receive your items, or contact us at [email protected]*. Thank you! *Not a real email address.

Item 1: A set of watercolor paintings all depicting builds from other servers. These watercolor paintings measure approximately 16 x 20 inches each, all featuring various structures built by the participants of our server. Each of these paintings has a thin black frame. The bases depicted include the following: 

A large, whimsical house with a heavily detailed interior, basement, and bright roof next to a custom-built copper tree, created by Redfeather.

A cozy medium-sized tree house with pink doors and dark wood framing nestled among several cherry trees, made by Sami Bear. 

A sturdy iron farm built in the desert with red decor and two massive turrets, made by Okami.

A tall wizard’s tower with stained-glass windows, several complementary textures, a full telescope, bookshelves from floor to ceiling and a spiral staircase inside, and conical roofs, located in a spooky forest, created by Redfeather.

A spacious section of a village featuring a large family home built from stone and wood and three-row houses, perfect for any roaming travelers to settle down, created by Roo.

If these paintings are yours, by all means, continue painting after you have picked these up, as your skills are quite remarkable!

Item 2: 50 Assorted origami dragons. Small enough to fit into the palm of your hand, these dragons were made from paper of every color you can imagine, with each fold carefully placed to give these miniature depictions a reflection of fine-tuned craftsmanship. These dragons include Albanian bollas, Slavic dragons, wyverns, sea dragons, and cockatrices. If these dragons are yours, we admire the patience it must have taken to design such a wonderful collection!

Item 3: A wood carving sculpture in the shape of a 500-type rotary telephone. This sculpture is about the size of a real rotary telephone, painted in pink and cyan. Due to the medium used, a telephone coil was created from aluminum craft wire to connect its two pieces. The creator of the sculpture has somehow made it possible to dial the numbers, and static plays through the holes depicting the phone’s speakers.

Item 4: A series of journal notes written in black ink with a calligraphy pen. These journal pages appear to be ripped out of a book and have yellowed with age. The writing speaks of several events of someone’s journey through various servers before making their way to Hermitcraft. While some of the writing is difficult to read, we can parse that the person writing them was on the run from an overarching being and was not certain that they would survive much longer due to the number of hunters chasing them down.

Item 5: Several yards of fabric of many colors and patterns. These fabrics come in gold, blue, green, purple, and red, and depict patterns of polka dots, stripes, small butterflies, paisley, loops, confetti, and leaves. The fabrics that do not depict any patterns at all include chiffon, velvet, polyester, and crepe. No sewing tools were found with this assortment. A set of notes regarding a costume design were found with the fabrics, noting specific details about which ones are to be used and how.

Fic Recs: Awesome OFCs edition

For some reason OCs tend to draw a lot of fire in certain fandom circles but I love them unapologetically. For me they are a brilliant way to add something new, something unexpected to a well known and well loved story. So, here‘s my utterly incomplete list of „fics that should be read for their awesome OFCs alone“.

Theodora Byrne in @esta-elavaris epic "Catch the Wind" (AO3).

Oh dear, where to start. I am forever in love with Theo. I'd kill for her, I'd die for her. Her sass, her indomitable spirit, her way of throwing poor James Norrington off kilter. The whole story is just shy of 418k words and a beautiful, terrifying beast to behold. I unwisely started it on a Friday night shortly before going to bed and simply could not stop until my darling, long-suffering husband put his foot down on Sunday and made me eat, drink, shower, sleep and (most cruelly) sent me off on Monday morning to resume adulting.

I'm not sure if I should own up to it in public but to tell you the truth: I have not been able to pick it up since that day. Not because I do not want to (oh how I want to!) but because I am afraid. Afraid that the story will end and I am not ready for it. Afraid for what might happen to Theo and James. When I left them in chapter 63/101 they were happy, comfortable and (relatively) save but with the whole ordeal of "At World's End" still ahead of them.

Should you still put down everything else to read it? Yes! Absolutely! Go! Now! Shoo! And don't be a wuss like me, the story deserves so much more!

Nika in "This Destiny is Mine" (AO3) by @messy-insomniac-bookgirl

I knew I was done for when one of my favourite authors decided to let one of her gorgeous female leads tackle one of literature’s most heinous crimes: The fate of Boromir. No way I would not root for her, rage with her, fear for her, laugh with her. A beautifully nuanced and overall kick-ass female lead that I cannot get enough of.

The story itself is not too long yet and is intriguingly hard to place. The author calls it a fix-it. And it is... but also not... not really... It gives us an OFC but she's no 10th walker. It has already made me feel everything it is humanly possible to feel, sometimes within the span of one short chapter alone.

Amazing storytelling and I cannot wait to find out where this journey will take Nika.

Having to deal with the emotional hot house that is Kylo Ren/Ben Solo is nothing for the faint-hearted and calls for especially intrepid female leads. So, this list would be utterly incomplete without her.

Meet, Jeyna: historian, archeologist and - suddenly and unnervingly - subject of Kylo Ren's scrutiny. I absolutely devoured her stroy with all it's amazing world building, obscure Star Wars lore and action.

Unable or unwilling to commit to any of the literary behemoths above? Then I have just the thing for you! A beautiful one-shot set in the chaos of the Battle of Helm's Deep. Wonderfully dense story telling garnished with spot on characterizations. Headstrong, brave, resourceful, sharp-tongued Asta is a sight to behold and I could not get enough of her clashing with Eomer.

Eomer/OFC. Idiots in love, shouting matches and kisses. Rated T.

Right, get yourself comfortable, because I'm about to infodump about my D&D characters. Starting with my daughter:

Polly Acci: Variant Human Glamour Bard

Polly was basically my very first D&D character I made myself. Originally a Lore Bard for a Level 12 one-shot, her debut adventure ended with a battle with an adult blue dragon. She worked up her courage and grappled it with her Bigby's Hand spell; it was in that moment that I knew there was something special about Polly.

Heavily inspired by boisterous characters like Nora Valkyrie, Princess Unikitty and the Looney Tunes, Polly is very outgoing and eager to meet new people. Switching her to a Glamour Bard ensured that she was both inspiring to her friends and disruptive to her foes.

During the campaign Princes Of The Apocalypse, Polly ended up getting petrified by a medusa boss and the party had to retreat shortly afterwards. They eventually returned with back-up and she was cured, but by that point the medusa had broken off part of her right leg out of anger. She's now sporting a prosthetic leg and her current design, which she wears as the show-woman of a bazaar in a cloudy pocket dimension ran by a djinn.

It was around this time that I began to run games as a DM, so I have taken the opportunity here and there to insert the cloudy bazaar when the party needs to go shopping, which in turn has given me the perfect chance to play Polly again. She might be an NPC, but at least she's safe.

Jenny "Rizzo" Rizolli: Variant Human Beast Barbarian

Rizzo is the eldest of triplets; she and her brothers Roland and Bobby have wererat in their parentage, indicated by their large ears, long front teeth and grey-tinted tan. This lead to them being constantly looked down on and bullied at the orphanage thet grew up in, where they were left after their mother reportedly passed away after giving birth to them.

Eventually they escaped and Rizzo ended up working at the local mercenary guild, eventually becoming a member when she came of age. Her time on the streets gave Rizzo a resilience that kept her on her feet when it counted and she learned to weaponize her adrenaline into her swings with Monday, her metal baseball bat.

One day, when harnessing her boiling blood, her wererat heritage awakened. After a throbbing headache and the clouding of her senses, Rizzo's skin broke out into grey fur and her face bones audibly cracked as her mout shifted into a rodent maw. She had achieved her wererat form, granting her access to ravenous teeth, rending claws and a long tail that can deflect attacks just as well as it can pierce flesh.

Rizzo has a tendency to be hot-headed when someone is trying to be clever or evasive with her or when she tries to brute-force a puzzling situation. She might be a self-admitted meathead, but she's not stupid; her time on the streets has honed her senses, and her sense of smell is crucial in tracking her goal. She takes almost any job she can, but she still has her own standards. Especially in some personal business that she does on the side for the right client. ;)

Dr Milla Holimion: High Elf Alchemist Artificer

Heavily inspired by the Plague Doctor from Darkest Dungeon, Milla is a master of three things; biology, chemistry, and resting bitch face.

Being the daughter of the highly respected Dr Reino Holimion, Milla pursued her medical profession to win the trust of her high-standard father. While she was the top of her class in school, college and university alike, her father was barely satisfied at best at her efforts. This left Milla with a focussed, no-nonsense attitude that persists to this day.

Towards the end of her education, her father grew ill and ended up succumbing to his illness. Milla's final practical exam was to be an autopsy of a recent corpse, and the corpse in question was her late father. Milla was given the option to wait for another opportunity, but she agreed to perform her duties as a doctor. While she was composed and professional during the autopsy, Milla felt a strange sensation of remorse and catharsis as she diagnosed the man who made her who she is, for better or for worse.

He died from an infection that could have been easily treated, if not for his stubborn nature.

Whether she's working as a physician in a clinic or a field medic in the midst of battle, Milla aims to put her medical prowess to the test while trying to be a better person than her late father.

Haruhi: Tiefling Scout Rogue

Haruhi was left in a forest village as an infant, her parents and birthplace a mystery to her and the residents of her home. Being the only tiefling growing up amongst humans, she never felt like she fit in. She wasn't bullied or alienated, her feelings of being alone among dozens were her own. This lead to her developing more personal hobbies, like her fondness for reading books on nature and geography.

Haruhi learnt her expertise in stealth and acrobatics from a retired mercenary living on their own in the village. While she is proficient with weapons for assassination, she was taught to kill when she needed to. Efficiency is everything to her. Her upbringing and training has caused her to develop a cold, intimidating aura. She's not unpleasant on purpose and will co-operate with whoever she has to, but she has been known to snap when pushed too far.

Like Rizzo, Haruhi works as a mercenary for hire. However while the beast barbarian mostly specialises in bodyguard duty, shakedowns and generally getting her hands dirty, Haruhi takes a quieter, subtle approach to her work. If you need something done without anyone knowing, Haruhi's your go-to tiefling.

Seychelle: Variant Human Fathomless Warlock

Seychelle was once a servant to a cruel noble who looked down on her for her humble background. One day the house was gifted with a strange artifact; a stone statue of a tentacle. Whenever she walked past it at the end of the hallway, she could swear she could hear it whisper to her.

One fateful day, her master lost his temper with her and was on the verge of killing her to set an example. But in her moment of need, she heard the voice from the statue next to her loud and clear in her mind. "Break the stone, and I will set you free."

With nothing left to lose, she pulled the pedestal down and the statue smashed on the floor. In what felt like a heartbeat, her vision flooded with water and everything went silent. She felt cold, she felt calm. She felt confident.

When the water around her fell, her master was on the floor, trembling in fear. It was then that she was given her first task. She dragged her former master to a nearby water bowl and drowned him in a shallow grave. She now follows her instincts and the will of her patron. Dressed in a silver cloak and the leather armour of a bandit she drowned in self-defence along the road, who she was before is not important to her now. She is Seychelle, guided by the tides of fate.

Behind Seychelle's elegant yet haunting presence is a cold, quiet confidence. She is not evil or needlessly malicious, but definitely not to be messed with if you fear drowning.

Also monday morning hot take but I do hate to some degree how in bg3 the cult of Bhaal is just reduced down to "no thoughts only murder", which yeah murder is a big part of it but when going back and reading the books and supplementals, there was more to it than just that. There was a meticulous system for how things worked, there are rituals, there was a certain artistry to murders, Bhaal is the patron of assassins and certain assassin groups either were a part of the church or worked adjacent with it, etc.

Yes killing is the focus of the religion but there's more nuance to it. Members have a quote that must be met, there's specific guidelines in most cases when it comes to murders, there's the expectation that you should enjoy doing it.

Bottom line tl;dr is I will use what crumbs bg3 gave us in regards to Bhaalist lore, but I will absolutely use lore info from actual manuals and books (which is where the wiki pages get their lore info) because bg3 made the whole cult of Bhaal feel shallow and flat.

Working on this while working on some Chiffany lore so I might as well give some more about these certain original characters I mention a lot.

Before meeting Arne, Cassandra worked at some odd jobs with one being it’s not suprising that she worked as a beautiful leather clad hot dancer at Nymphos. She often would have Rachel be in the care of some of ladies that resides in her apartment housing complex. While there stood a bunch of business suited men there from an accounting job in NYC before the Black Monday came to town. It was Arne’s older brother Reginald’s bachelor party with Arne having only attended (Arne 31 and Reginald 35) just because his dad said so and his mom would just get drunk silly which he didn’t want clean up from her.

His brother who wanted to let him not have his heads in the clouds from a previous breakup decided to surprise him with by asking for their best dancer or in Reg’s words, “A pair of legs”.

There Arne sat and saw her, the most beautiful woman he ever saw in his life even if he met a lot as an accountant and thanks to his dad being well off even if they settled in Southcrest. Here stood darling Cassandra dancing over him as if she’s done it so many times but for Arne, it felt like he stumbled on something that was more. He felt something inside him when he seeing the entertainer. Sadness no, melancholy, yes as if she’s trying to run for something. He paid her 150 that day and that day stood the day he would go out there to see her perform in the crowd smiling like it was just yesterday.

Cassandra didn’t know why this dumbass kept coming over to Nymphos as there was so many women that weren’t her and she’s just here for money, not pleasure or interest in dating. She’s was more in wanting to out of her situation, wanting to get out of this town, this garden state and start fresh. She loved her daughter since the day that nurse had her hold her infant and realize in love and to her horror, did she had Rachel to love someone or just fill in that empty void if it means feeling loved or in that witch’s words, “fix her”. Those words haunted Cass for years. Until then seeing this ginger haired man is getting on her nerves but at the same time maybe he wanted more than what she thought, maybe there was some sympathy or understanding of her. Fat chance she thought. She danced for him that seventh night.

Cole, meanwhile, is our monsterfucker representation. He comes to the table with a literal Powerpoint ranking each killer, including a math formula that takes their hotness into account.

I. Cat - Milgram

People in a specific discord server got me into this song, and it’s a good one. Real jazzy, love the middle call and response bit, plus the mv and attached lore is real fun. You can make a compelling argument that the singer’s “I can’t stop, I can’t be normal” and other lyrics are him hiding his homosexuality and I agree! That’s a gay old man right there and i refuse to believe otherwise. The mv is just really good, there’s a lot to dissect and the art styles pretty fire. When Deco27 hits, Deco27 hits.

II. Arm Candy - Record Heat

On the list of songs on my huge liked playlist that I call “Manwhore Monday songs”. Got a push and pull feel to it that’s fun to jam to while doing tasks around the place. Makes me envision a little guy doing a stupid little dance, and if I could dance this would be a fun one to dance to, I’d bet. But the dance has to specifically be in a weird little gay way that makes you want to shout go white boy go at the dancer, grooving in place.

III. Flower Power Madness - Royal Republic

Another manwhore monday song to me, got that groove to it. Disco rock is a really good music style. If I could sing, this would be a fun one to sing.

Do y’ever have songs that you listen to and the mental amv goes so hard it ends up being a song you listen to while working on a world, because for me, this is one of those songs. I always set it on when I’m trying to draw anything related to Mao the apprentice exorcist pheasant or anything in her world, because I have a whole amv in my mind centered around this song and her. Again, rhythm goes hard, and if the translated lyrics are anything to go by, whole songs fire.
