Something something Ed seeks out or is confronted by his own reflections three times in ascending order of violent emotions (the hand mirror, the salver, the knife)--

And we see Stede being painted twice in his old life, not looking at the painter or the painting but at some distant other thing, and then finally seeking to see himself in the third appearance of his portraiture-- only to find he's been painted out.

I wonder if Stede will someday ask to be drawn, and how, and whether he will look at the artist while they work, or the other people in it (if any), and seek out the finished work and be happy to see himself reflected in it.

...and I wonder if Ed will avoid reflections now (remove the mirrors, avert the eyes, but sometimes he'll catch himself in still water and flinch away--) because he knows what he is, he made himself this way, he knows how others see him and he can see it in their eyes without needing any further proof (except what he sees in Stede's eyes doesn't seem to match, so better not look there, fuck, fuck--)

Stede will look so, so hard now, and Ed will look at anything but-- a switch now, from their season 1 selves, lasting, perhaps, until they can finally see themselves -- and each other -- fully.

(And maybe, after that, they'll be able to see themselves together.)

Tell us more about farm Clexa’s aden!!! He sounds like a little sweetheart but we don’t know much about him. Which sibling is he the closest with? Does he also like rolling around in dirt like most of his other siblings, or is he more like Saige in that instance? What’s teenager Aden like? I have so many questions I love all the kids so much.

Aden is the definition of the baby of the family. Being a rainbow baby and the new baby in the house after 4 years and all the healing clexa had to do to feel ready for his arrival makes him very spoiled, and as any younger sibling, he does grow with much more leeway than the oldest ones wouldn't have. He's Lexa's little boy, and he does grow up very attatched to her because she worries about him to a fault ever since she found out she was pregnant.

Despite it all, Aden is a pretty sweet and charming little boy. He's quiet and calm, an angel of a last child really compared to the rascall Madi was. He adores horses and could spend hours with Lexa ridding around, only getting down when Clarke pouts at them because she eas to spend time with her baby boy too :c

He's pretty close to Saige as they have more matching personalities, but he is much more like Lexa when it comes to doing dirty work - he'll do it, but he isn't a massive fan of it, unlike Saige who absolutely hates it. He and Saige spend a lot of time reading to each other, and he really likes just sitting in silence with her as they do their own thing :)) although he doesnt get bothered by much, he'll go and be pulled along by the twins and listen to them talk about their own special interest very attentively as he is all Madi and Clarke when it comes to curiosity and ability to learn. He actually does spend the less time with Madi, he loves his oldest sister a lot but because she's 9 years older than him, she does end up being a little of the cool big sister he can't really hang out with (after the truck incident when Madi stays home a lot as punishment she does bond with him a lot more).

He's a country boy through and through. He has a little bit of an accent, and he grows as charming as can be. While he is the quiet type like Saige, while his sister is more shy, he is a little more talkative and a people's person. If Clarke is a knight in charming armor, Aden is a complete prince charming, a gentleman that makes the older ladies in town compliment him all the time. Not that he doesn't have flaws. He has definite family baby syndrome and knows damn well Lexa and Clarke will let him do pretty much everything and will push it a little as well as being rather self isolated by choice and sometimes in a snobish manner, like people bore him.

As a teen, he works at his grandparents' small ranch, taking care of the horses because he loves riding. He's really good at it, proper little cowboy, which makes him a little gay heartthrob sjsjsjdj (for some reason, I imagine him has a Hannah Montana The Movie's Travis 😅).

If you had to divide the kids into archetypes, Madi is the rebel, Saige is the sweet, shy girl, the twins are the weird kids, and Aden is definitely mr popular. He doesn't really play any sport, but he is just the type of kid people feel a pull towards, and that gets him far but also gains him a little ego and I can see him being the only kid to actually make a bit of a fuss over the fact they aren't particularly well off, although Madi is the one who tells him off with that.

But really, he is a sweetheart with a heart of gold, a bit of an ego and a complete charmer :))

I think it's impressive that the original sketch dates back to early August, meaning this piece in total went through 2 months of exams, procrastination, switching to iPad and starting again on it from scratch, and still I had enough leftover motivation to finish it. work story:

tiny seth finally had his first big road test in his actual job as child-distracting assistant yesterday when i was on tea room duty.

i was sitting next to the fireplace at the little table sewing a little doll-sized jacket for him when this family with two very young children sat down nearby, and the kids were very interested in what I was doing, so I stopped my sewing & took the needle off so I could show them how the work in progress jacket goes on him, and the older child (a little boy who proudly announced to me that he's two) was fascinated

for the next hour and a half, he made seth walk around the table, pointed out different features of him & how they related to us (ex: pointing out his eyes and then our eyes, or holding up his hat, and then the boy's own winter hat, and then my frilly white cap and shouting "HAT!" very proudly), and, my favorite, picking out scrap fabric from my basket and tying them around the little rabbit as a cape or a scarf (or handing them back to me and saying "help" to get me to tie the actual knot on a few of the scarves)

he also stuffed a bunch of the fabric scraps he really liked (the very soft ones) into his little jacket pocket.

when his family finally left, the tea room was closing, so I started packing up my stuff, and he asked me to bring the rabbit back out so he could say bye to him.

10/10 tiny seth did a great job at child-entertaining and not being accidentally mistaken for a gift or being walked off with
