Head empty, only plants. Shouldn’t I be gardening? (It’s too difficult!) Besides, these little beebs are so obedient. And happy. And less punishing on my back.
Hoyas are still my plants. But there is room for succulents and a few choice ferns.
My room is a cacophony of smells: I have 6 (going on 8) Hoyas blooming. Stinky! This year they’re all taking off; I’ve only got 4 out of 18 left to bloom!

I don't usually post about my plant collection, but my hoya linearis is blooming and I'm so happy. I wasn't even sure I could keep it alive. 🥺

Hoya Linearis Care:  Everything You Need to Know
Hoya Linearis Care:  Everything You Need to Know
If you like plants that make a statement in your house, you’ll fall in love with Hoya Linearis. Also known as Wax Plant or Wax Vine, this plant has a trailing growth pattern that makes it perfect for adding volume to your interiors. Also, its bright green foliage and fuzzy stems can create a curtain-like appearance if you grow your hoya linearis in hanging baskets. Growing this plant might be…

One of our regulars was very kind and gave me a Hoya vine cutting last month! I think it's Hoya linearis. I had them sitting in perlite+water and they started growing roots so I stuck them in soil.
I've gotten more into milkweeds lately, so now I have a couple of Hoya species along with my friend's H. carnosa I'm looking after (which originates from a plant older than anyone here!). Once I can take on more indoor plants (I'm on a sabbatical until I can get rid of the thrips– this was a gift so I made an exception) I want to try getting some stem succulent species too. I've also got some milkweed seeds (sensu stricto) stratifying in the fridge for outdoors.

after picking up the adansonii i visited a plant shop my therapist recommended and while some of their stuff was overpriced some stuff was surprisingly well priced
Tumblr media
got a cute little string of turtles that has been on my wishlist for a while for now its in the bathroom but hopefully i can make some room for it in my bedroom with the rest of the plants
Tumblr media
also got this syngonium im not sure what type but i think it's the one i loved and accidentally overwatered and killed a few weeks ago 😭 it was really small just 3 leafs or so and i repotted it cause it came in a clear cup with no drainage... and i think the repotting and watering killed it 🥲 killed by what i was trying to avoid. ive been missing it so i was really happy to see it at the store and immidiately grabbed it its quite big too. i assume it needs bright light for the leafs so hopefully the spot i picked is enough 🤔 it's a little tucked into a corner but u have a south window with barely anything blocking the sun it gets mega bright in here so fingers crossed it wont need to move
Tumblr media
my first time seeing a scindapsus exotica and its leafs were huge!!! especially on the bigger mature plants but theyre were too expensive for me. i opted for a juvenile instead and it had a yellow leaf that was concerning but i asked the workers and they said it's fine and the plant itself is heathy it's just an old leaf. hopefully theyre right but the plant does look healthy otherwise. it stormed all of the sudden on the way home and it fell off from the rain so guess it took care of itself
Tumblr media
also saw Huge silvery anns with palm sized leafs and i was sooo tempted but decided since i already spend 20€ i cant buy more and the other plants i wanted more... so i snipped off a vine lol it's always morally correct to proplift from chains 💚 i saw a whole bucket of broken off vines in a corner and so many broken off leafs it might as well have happened while someone more clumsy was handling it. did the same to a donkeys tail and found some broken off leafs next to it that i grabbed. also found these two peperomia watermelon leafs on the ground im gonna try propping too :) the stem is a scindapsus exotica i too found on the ground, left it in the prop box hoping to get a plant i can gift away to friend
the store also had a hoya linearis that is on my wishlist but it was 17€ and rlly sparse and had these black spots on its leafs and stems i decided to leave it behind. didn't seem worth the price especially cause the online marketplace i use has cuttings for 1€. guess when fools spring season is over and its actually warm here i can just order some cuttings and grow my own for way less :p plus at the moment i got no way to hang plants so i would've struggled giving it what it needs.
also saw two huge beauties i just had to snap a photo of: a big mature monstera thai constellation and the biggest pothos i have ever seen in my life

Our Happy & Healthy Guaranteeįrond & Folia guarantees that the plant you receive will arrive in happy and healthy condition, and we take extreme care in packaging and shipping to ensure this. Moving a blooming Hoya can cause the bloom to wither and fall off. If you are lucky enough to find your Hoya blooming indoors, take care not to disturb the plant or move its location. Each flower is up to 0.4 inch (1 cm) across and form groups of blooms which are up to 4 inches (10 cm). Hoya are known for their beautiful flowers, which are said to look as if they were crafted from porcelain or wax. The leaves are narrow and have more or less silver flecks. Moving a Hoya to a larger pot should only be considered if the plants roots are nearly filling the pot. Because Hoya are epiphytic in nature, they generally do not possess an excessive root system. Hoya prefer to be pot bound, and will not enjoy being placed in a pot which is much too large for their roots. Hoya love humidity, and moderate to high humidity is preferred. Most Hoya can withstand night time temperatures of 50 degrees during the winter. Hoya prefer room temperatures between 70 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Amending a standard potting soil with perlite, orchid bark, and/or lava rock will help provide the drainage this plant needs. As an epiphytic plant in nature, Hoya will require an extremely well-draining soil. Thinner leaved varieties such as Hoya Australis, Retusa, or Linearis will prefer to be watered a bit more often, since they store less moisture in their leaves. Hoya should be allowed to dry out between waterings, perhaps by about 75%. Because of this, their water needs are considered moderately low. The majority of Hoya are semi succulent in nature, possessing thicker stems and leaves, hence the name “wax plant”. Low light should be avoided for all varieties of Hoya. Variegated varieties such as Tricolor and Krimson Princess require higher exposures to support variegation and proper photosynthesis. Green, non variegated Hoya can tolerate a bit lower exposure, and a medium range exposure may be sufficient. Avoid direct sun, which can burn these plants leaves. Details: - Rooted plant in 4 pot - The actual plant you will get might be slightly different than the one shown in pictures, but same size/amount of leafs.19. Hoya thrive in very bright, indirect or filtered light. Most Hoya found in nature are epiphytic, meaning they grow off of other plants or trees rather sending their roots into the soil. Hoya are found in the wild in Australia, Asia, and the Pacific Islands.

Hoya linearis is a unique hoya in the Himalayas region of northern India. Contrary to other plants of the genus, #HoyaLinearies does not climb a lot. Instead, it takes #root in the cracks of #trees and hangs gracefully from their #branches. The #leaves are small, thin and covered by a light fuzz. https://www.etsy.com/shop/Kossitas https://goimagine.com/kossitasdreamcreations/ #planters #handpaintedplanters #terracotta #acrylicart #art #plants #plantslover #plantpropagation #plantsofinstagram #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantsmakemehappy #kossitas #etsyshop #goimagine https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch93MpOOYZG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Get to know me || @dontcxckitup
1) What images do you have set for your desktop/cell phone wallpapers?
//Currently I have a generic light changing wallpaper on my laptop where the image change during the course of the day. On my phone, I have a picture of my niece, the biggest joy in my life.
5) If you could be anywhere else right now, where would you be?
//Honestly anywhere. I'd love to just go anywhere else, somewhere in Europe, and it would be visiting one of my friends on live on mainland Europe.
12) Your favorite pair of shoes?
//My favourite pair of shoes are a pair of All Stars Converse with the union jack printed on it, and my birkinstocks.
29) What store do you shop at most often?
//If we look away from the food shop, it would be Monki which is a clothing shop, Outland with is a nerd shop and Starbucks/Espresso House for my coffee and ice tea orders.
35) Coffee or Tea?
//I'm one of those who change after what the other has. Normally I'll have 4-7 cups of black coffee a day, but when I visit friends who don't like coffee I tend to have tea. I love a cup of tea in the afternoon most days.
47) What was the last thing you bought for yourself?
//I got two wishlist plants. Hoya Linearis and Syngonium Wendlandii I got a dress coming in the post that I'm picking up tomorrow and hoping it'll fit.
63) Favorite kind of chips?
//My favourite is either plant salty ones or onion and sour cream.
77) Favorite city you’ve been to?
//Sorry Caz, but it's got to be Paris. It's so large, historical and I haven't even seen more than 10% of it. Munich is second!
89) Do you get easily distracted?
//Depends on what I'm doing. As a person with ADHD, I'm like a magpie some days. I can be doing something and then I see something else and I completely forget what I was doing. If I'm very focused I'm usually not that easy to distract.

Feeling beleaguered, post hoyas.
Despite the ongoing warm weather tantrum, the sunrise decided to grace me with her very first bloom. She kicked off two other peduncles due to being thirstier than I realized, but now I understand that I need to really keep on top of it right now. Sad to be losing all those would-be blooms, but some hoyas are like that. The bloom smelled a little like Froot Loops, but a little spicy? I liked it!
Last photo shows my first bloom of the season from my obovata, who is preparing for quite the season. (6 of 8 peduncles have blooms arriving). A much more easygoing hoya whose only “tantrum” is just turning into a statue for a while. I think the blooms smell like peonies when freshly opened.
The goal for this year is to get all plants to grow peduncles, even though the more reasonable goal is to get all my bloom ready plants to bloom. I’ve had three new plants make blooms so far this year, with hopes to get 4 more!

I have.... Not a few hoya plants😅 This is fifteen out of thirty six (probably)
I LIKE slow-growing plants, I have a small home and not a lot of shelf space! Unfortunately my hoya collection have other ideas and grow like they are being paid for it😒
I blame the turtle-provided fertilizer and lack of any discernable winter in this climate.

Hoya haul! This month has been a good month for hoya! I can not believe it, but my local nursery got in Hoya Australis Lisa, Hoya Curtisii splash, Hoya Macrophylla Variegata, and Hoya Linearis! And they were all actually affordable, I’m blown away! They also had a bunch of absolutely beautiful krimson queens and princesses and some variegated wayetii and other stuff that I didn’t take pictures of, but here are the beautiful uncommon babs I took home with me! :)
