As of May 31, Oaxaca experienced the aftermath of Hurricane Agatha is considered one of the strongest hurricane to make landfall along the Pacific coast of Oaxaca, Mexico. We are working with COCISS to support our communities during these times (post-natural disasters). Rebuilding after natural disasters takes time and we will be there for our Indigenous communities of Oaxaca. We will share photos of all ongoing efforts & aid provided to the communities. Thank you for your support. Oaxaca en nuestros corazones.

(Español abajo) On May 30th, Hurricane Agatha struck the coast of Oaxaca, Mexico, leaving a path of horrific destruction in her wake. 11 people have died, over 33 are missing, and literally thousands of houses have been destroyed, displacing many families and leaving them homeless.
Agatha is the strongest hurricane to ever make landfall in Mexico this early in a hurricane season, and has inflicted millions of dollars of damage upon the already vulnerable communities of Oaxaca.
100% of all funds will be used for disaster relief, whether it's to purchase tools to clean up the destruction, buying food, water and other essentials, and to help the locals rebuild their destroyed homes.

Hurricane Agatha Strikes Mexico Hurricane season in the eastern Pacific is off to an early and potent start. Though May storms are rare there, Hurricane Agatha struck western Mexico, near Puerto Escondido, bearing maximum sustained winds of 105 miles (169 kilometers) per hour on May 30, 2022. That made the category 2 storm the strongest May hurricane to make landfall along the Pacific coast of Mexico since modern record keeping began in 1949, according to the National Hurricane Center. The Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on the NOAA-20 satellite acquired this natural-color image of the storm at 1:35 p.m. local time (19:35 Universal Time) on May 30, 2022, a few hours before the storm made landfall. Agatha brought intense downpours and howling winds to several tourist beaches and fishing towns in an otherwise sparsely populated region before weakening rapidly as it moved northward over the mountainous terrain of southern Mexico. Prevailing trade winds typically steer west and out to sea, but in this case a low-pressure trough dipped far enough south to pull Agatha toward land, reported meteorologist Jeff Masters for Yale Climate Connections. Hurricane forecasters are watching the possibility that Agatha’s remnants will become more organized and strengthen over the Gulf of Mexico as they move toward Florida. NOAA and other federal and state agencies lead the forecasting of and response to hurricanes in the United States, with NASA playing a supporting role in developing experimental tools and providing key data to those agencies. NASA’s Earth Science Applied Sciences program works to streamline the flow of information to international science institutions, governments, and aid groups as they use and customize data products from freely available NASA data. The eastern Pacific hurricane season officially runs from May 15 through November 30. The peak months of the season are July through September. NOAA’s seasonal outlook for the eastern Pacific hurricane season in 2022 indicates that a below-normal season is likely, while the seasonal outlook for the Atlantic Ocean predicts a more active season than normal. The ongoing La Niña and resulting changes in vertical wind shear in key regions of hurricane formation and development are one of the key factors behind these forecasts. AGATHA WRATH?
The National Hurricane Center now believes there's a 70% chance that the remnants of Hurricane Agatha will redevelop into a new storm in the Gulf of Mexico in the coming days.Florida and the U.S. East Coast should be on-alert for possible direct or indirect impacts from this storm, which could happen as soon as this coming weekend. If Agatha's remnants redevelop within the Atlantic Hurricane Basin, it will be named Alex --the first storm of the 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season which begins tomorrow.

Countdown to the Darkhold Diaries: Day 574
Wanda: “So, what we’re gonna do is enter from the back. It’s hidden and allows us to gain to the upper hand-“
Agatha: “-Yes, and then. You start summoning energy, and use that wonderful telekinesis of yours to break down their mental barriers and fortitude till you uncover their greatest weaknesses”
Wanda: “They’ll be bowing at our knees in no time! Make sure to cast some runes in the area, just in case they detect our little charade…”
Y/N, completely oblivious to a violent and murderous scheme: “Awww I love it when you two get along!!! HUGS!!! Does anyone want anything? You two have been working so hard, you must be parched!”
Agatha: “Soon we shall be quenched on the sweet nectar of our enemies blood”
Y/N, still completely oblivious: “Okay, you two keep having fun! I’ll come check on you in a bit. Love you!”

The first hurricane of 2022 for the eastern Pacific has made landfall in southern Mexico. Agatha has been slowly moving north towards the Mexican Pacific coast, strengthening before making landfall late on Monday. The storm has produced damaging tropical-force winds and heavy rain.
Winds are easing but heavy rain will continue through Tuesday as the storm moves inland. It is forecast to cause flash flooding and mudslides that could pose a threat to life.
In the worst-affected areas, across the mountainous state of Oaxaca, 300-400mm of rainfall is possible. The storm will have largely dissipated by Wednesday but its remnants may prompt a redevelopment this week within the Gulf of Mexico.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Climate Prediction Center has said the eastern Pacific is likely to experience a subnormal number of tropical storms this year, whereas there is a 65% chance for an above-normal number of storms within the Atlantic basin.
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November, with the potential for three to six powerful hurricanes at category three and above.
Another busy season is forecast for several reasons, including the ongoing La Niña. The phenomenon describes periods when sea surface temperatures in the equatorial Pacific are cooler than average, increasing hurricane activity within the Atlantic, as opposed to the El Niño phase. In addition, warmer than normal sea surface temperatures and weaker trade winds are predicted in the Atlantic as well as a stronger west African monsoon.
Elsewhere, a cold spell has developed across southern and eastern Australia in the run-up to the start of meteorological winter. A cold front brought crisp air to the south on Sunday, with below-average temperatures forecast for much of the week across the south and south-east.
Parts of south Australia are expected to face the coldest temperatures of the year so far, with Adelaide plunging to 13-14C on Tuesday and Wednesday. Strong winds have accompanied chilly weather, with 30-50cm of snow possible in the Alpine region by the end of Tuesday.
