“As a biologist, the terms biological woman and man don’t make any sense to me” okay then you’re an idiot and a terrible biologist. I swear to god, morons like you only become biologists just so you can hold it over others, when in reality, if biology deniers like you can become biologists, then being one really doesn’t mean much anyway. But this probably just gave an autogynophile like you a boner to read, anyway.

Oh fun! Haven't gotten one of these in a while. Disregarding the fact that you somehow think the qualification for being a biologist entirely hinges on defining womanhood, I do need to ask some clarification. I know I'm feeding the trolls here, but here we go: does your definition of "biological woman" mean:

Sociological woman? Eh, context dependent, I'm not fully out of the closet, but oftentimes, I am and present femme. So let's call that one 50/50.

Psychological woman? Because I am one.

Neurological woman? Because I am one [1].

Physical woman? My soft tissue redistribution is handling that well.

Hormonal woman? My blood tests are within cis female ranges.

Transcriptional woman? As a signalling molecule, the downstream effects of estrogen have broad transcriptional effects, completely changing the profile of gene expression and functional genomics of my cells. [2]

Genetic woman? I mean, see my above point- as far as my genes that are actually active, I have all of the same transcripts being produced, controlling which genes are expressed.

Karyotypic woman? I actually have a few signs pre-HRT that might point to a non-XY chromosome pair, but I haven't had a karyotype. We'll put that down as unknown. And hell, even if its XY, there's plenty of cis women who are karyotypically XY, with suppressed sry or complete androgen insensitivity. Interestingly enough, a completely androgen insesitive woman can go her whole life without knowing- and functionally, is very similar to a trans woman, actually. Fancy that. [3]

Reproductive woman? I can't produce an egg cell, but neither can significant fractions of cis women. Also, this is all gonna change soon, which is fun. [4]

There's also a lot of understudied aspects to the biology of HRT and even pre-HRT that are emerging, largely demonstrating widespread cellular and genetic remodeling of trans individuals undergoing hormone therapy. The field is a bit behind due to constant political pressure to revoke funding, but a lot of the results are extremely exciting in both testosterone and estrogen hormone therapies. I'm sure that, as a self professed biology As someone who presumably has a lot of expertise in biology, I'm assuming that you're aware of all of this cutting edge research, and are keeping up with modern papers, including but not limited to these cool findings:

Trans men on HRT exhibit significant genetic and transcriptional changes that make them biochemically male. [5][6]. It's a good hypothesis that the same happens with estrogen treatment, but those studies don't exist yet- I'm sure you're reserving judgment until more publications exist, of course.

Trans men on HRT develop male cell types and tissues. [7]

Trans women experience muscular and blood cell changes that align with cis women moreso than cis men [8]

And many, many more! This is an exciting, underserved, and groundbreaking field of research, and I'm sure you're keeping up with the latest in scientific journals about it.

I'm sure, of course, that you understand that it becomes impossible to draw a distinct line anywhere in here, and that words like "woman" are shorthand for the myriad of traits that invisibly synthesize in our mind and in society to represent a concept? I'm sure you understand that science is fundamentally descriptive, not prescriptive? I'm sure that you understand that these findings, while really cool and interesting, actually don't mean jack shit about what the word "woman" means or not?

As someone who is the ultimate decider in what a biologist is, I'm sure you know that bioessentiallism is a childish mindset that completely ignores and disregards the constantly changing, dynamic nature of biological systems, something that extends well beyond biological sex and its relation to gender.

I'm sure that also, that you understand that beyond just this, that the role of science in society is to advise how to achieve our moral principles, not create moral principles in themselves. And I'm sure that understanding means you know that trans affirming healthcare and supportive societal treatment leads to reduced mortality and increased happiness for everyone, right?

So great to talk to someone who is surely a scientist on this. You are a biologist, if you're talking like this, I assume? I assume you're not going to spit complete misreadings of scientific language from the background sections of these papers that only reveal you've never read a scientific paper in your life if you're thinking this way? I assume you have experience interpreting data like this?

The Yiling Laozu’s Lost Spells part 2 AKA Chaos in Canon

part 1

Wei ying and mo xuanyu were originally planning to just run away, but alas, the Mo family plus the lans plus a freaky hand get in the way

Seriously, what was with that freaky hand? Mo Xuanyu’s used to working with weird stuff but nothing like that. Was that what normal cultivators deal with?

He tries to ask Wei Ying, but Wei ying is to busy freaking out over Hanguang-jun showing up, and what if he saw me???!

Mo xuanyu (excited to see his OTP happening): If you’re worried about looking your best, I can help with that.

Wei ying: I don’t want to look my best! I’m the fourth most handsome master! He’ll recognize me! I want you to make me look so different he’ll never guess it was me! Can you do that?

Mo Xuanyu, who both the soul of a theatre kid and literal years of petty frustrations to work out, was more than willing to take up the task. (But not too bad, he does want his OTP to reunite after all) Thus Wei Ying becomes his “Poor old senile grandpa.” Complete with artfully drawn wrinkles and a shawl for warmth.

Wei ying is having way to much fun pretending to be senile though, so Mo Xuanyu guesses he lost there.

As they travel Mo Xuanyu asks him about the talismans. The Radishes, the release statements, the grass butterflies, he’s had literal years to study these talismans and he doesn't know how they work fully, he has questions.

Wei ying is thrilled to see someone respects him for something other than his demonic cultivation or the sword path he can no longer follow. He is happy to tell him what he remembers, but its not much, he wrote most of them in a sleepy haze at 2 in the morning, and he kind of suspects Mo Xuanyu knows more than he does at this point.

Is Mo Xuanyu mad that his whole job is the result of a guy’s sleepy 2am ideas? A little. But at least the Yiling Patriach seems mostly interested in sticking around and helping him instead of going off to form his own cultivation path with all his fake-ass fans. Take that Xue Yang. They’re gonna do their own thing, and it’s gonna be awesome

Then they run into Jin Ling

Jin Ling does not take well to seeing his Uncle who one day was there, serving him tea with a peacock tail, and the next day was gone and everyone started calling an incestuous cut-sleeve. He didn’t even say goodbye!

Wei ying does not take well to Jin ling not taking well, and proceeds to insult him.

Mo xuanyu slaps a hand over his mouth and says to ignore his “poor senile grandpa”

Wei Ying: Yeah! Respect your elders kid!

Mo Xuanyu: shut up I am begging you

Wei Ying then tries to use a talisman to release little apple but grabs the wrong one

It was the peacock tail one

Mo Xuanyu tackles Wei ying

Jiang cheng comes into the scene to see his nephew and his nephew’s weird uncle have peacock tails, the latter of which is wrestling an old man under a donkey still caught up in the nets.

Jiang Cheng: ....Weird shit?

Jin Ling (nodding): weird shit

As if it couldn’t get any worse, Hanguang-jun appears to free Little Apple, and see Mo Xuanyu and “the old man” rolling around in the dirt.

There’s no way Mo Xuanyu can reveal to him who the old man is now, Not when he saw him rolling in the ground with the love of Hanguang-jun’s life. The assumptions he’ll make!

Mo Xuanyu: I”m taking my very old and totally senile grandpa back on the night hunt now! Bye!

Lan Sizuhi: A night hunt? With a senile elder? Are you sure you don’t want us to look after him until its over? We have Tea!

Mo Xuanyu (shoving Wei ying forward faster): NO thanks! We’re good!

They should have left right then, but they didn’t want to draw any suspicion. That was a mistake

“Did you make this?” Mo Xuanyu yells to Wei ying as they are running from the giant fairy statue.

“No! Why would you think I made it?” Wei ying yells back. “I don’t make every weird thing that happens to us!”

“Yes! Yes you are!”

The statue grabs Jin Ling, and to save him, MO Xuanyu pulls out his most dangerous talisman: the cooking one.

Now the statue is trying to cook and use jin ling as an ingredient.

Wei ying summons Wen ning just as MO Xuanyu tries again.

Now Wen ning is hit with the cooking talisman.

There’s a cook off, Wen Ning is winning. Wen Ning makes rock soup out of the statue. Wen Ning is now trying to force the juniors to eat it. The juniors are crying. So is Wen Ning.

Mo Xuanyu realizes one of the is going to have to hug the ghost general to make this stop. He is not doing it. Even if the ghost general is kinda hot for a corpse. He’s not risking getting fed rock soup.

Wei ying does it.

And jiang sheng comes in. Again.

Jiang Cheng: Wei WuXian!

Mo Xuanyu: NO it was to release the spell I swear!

Jiang cheng whips Wei ying. Mo Xuanyu watches with baited breath, terrified he’ll have lost his friend before he even really got to know him. Hanguang-jun jumps in to Wei ying’s side but its to late, he’s hit. He goes down, But to the shock of all of them, Wei ying gets back up.

“You whipped me!” He says in his absolute worst old man voice. “Unfillital! No respect for your elders! Hitting old men who can’t defend themselves, what has this generation come too? Humph!”

Hanguang-Jun gently helps him to his feet, placing himself between Jiang cheng and wei ying. Wei ying blushes

“Oh now here’s a polite young man,” Wei ying leans into Lan zhan’s space. “And so handsome too! I could eat you up!”

Wei ying thinks he’s being that annoying type of elder who pinches your cheeks and makes lan zhan want to leave quicker. Mo xuanyu wishes Wei ying would stop flirting with his boyfriend before he gets them caught.

“Mark your words,” Goes Lan Zhan, sweeping up Wei ying in his arms.

Mo xuanyu wants to faint.

“why is Hanguang-jun taking that old man?” one of the juniors mutters

“It’s a cutsleeve thing!” MO xuanyu blurts out. “We like older men!” then winces at the very stupid excuse.

“You would know.” goes the junior nastily. Mo Xuanyu wilts, remembering for the first time in a while what all these people think of him.

Jin ling proceeds to hit said junior in the back with his bow. No one insults his uncle but him.

“You’d better come with us,” Lan Sizuhi offers, slipping beside Mo Xuanyu. “You'll be a welcome guest at Cloud recesses, and you’ll want to be with your grandpa of course.”

“I’m allowed?” Mo Xuanyu asked, remembering that Lan Xichen was close to Jin Guangyao. He’d been certain they’d heard the rumors and didn’t want him anywhere near their precious pure cloud recesses.

“Of course,” Lan Sizuhi smiles. “As if we’d ever ban the brave hero who saved Hanguang-jun and all those rabbits.”

“And the flowers,” Mo xuanyu reminds him, and follows.

I just spent the past few days binge reading I'm Sorry, Teenage Mutant What Now? and I am HOOKED. I may or may not draw fanart of it in the near future. Also, the new chapter is super good! Its really interesting seeing how they deal with learning that they're turtles. I feel like if that happened to me I'd be in super denial, I'd asume that Draxum turned me, a human, into a turtle, instead of taking off some kind of illusion. But also I've never been a turtle mutant(to my knowledge) so who knows.

Ahhhh thank you!? I'd be so honored ; w ; I think they'd probably be MORE in denial if it didn't, like... kind of make sense. Like, there's been so many things in their lives that, now, looking back, is very much like ".... OOOHHH. THAT'S why we're like that..." Like there have always been lots of things that they do that are just, like, a little weird, but they really never worried about. Like, they all know that they have these bracelets that their dad insist they wear that they've always always always worn. They all know that they get sleepy when they're cold and love to sunbathe. They all know that they make odd chirpy noises sometimes, and used to do it even MORE when they were little. They all know that their Dad was missing for a long time, that they don't know anything about before they moved to New York, that their early childhood is largely a mystery... And they all kind of have very vague childhood memories of turtle shit, but they all think that these are memories of them, like, playing pretend-- pretending to be turtles. And all that stuff alone is, like! You know, not a big deal. Nothing crazy or suspicious. Yeah, they get cold easy and like sleeping in the sun, so what? That's not that weird. It can all be dismissed or written off or explained away.

But then they're reptiles and it's like.

.... OH.

poppy war thoughts, aka this book was so bad it made me want to get a goodreads account just so i can shit on it in an official capacity

so what initially sold me on this book, is that despite my friend ellis absolutely hating rf kuang's babel, ive only ever seen raving reviews for it anywhere else, and a brief description of its magic system reminded me of gergő és az álomfogók. i love that mainstream fantasy is finally starting to rely on drawing from cultures other than the sort of western mainstream and i was actually super excited to get into it. well it sucked (this contains spoilers obviously)

its 11 am this is not gonna be very structured but let me start off by listing some things i did enjoy. first of all its low hanging fruit and im better than this so im only gonna shit on tpw for being so directly about the sino chinese war that the only actual interesting bits of exposition in the book was what was just a description of actual events a Little bit. listen lotr is about ww2. its fine its all fine. anyway, i had fun with the bits of worldbuilding that were yk, actually worldbuilding. the magic system was really interesting and just super not explored enough, the book handled drug addiction about as sensitively as the dare program, but nevertheless it was a cool concept. shamans who have to get high as hell do do anything and then putting those guys in a combat setting is crazy. really fun concept. speaking of shamans i loved jiang. his archetype is impossible to fuck up and he was loveable and fun till the very end. uhh what else. the fight descriptions were good its something kuangs is decent at, as someone whos watched just truly an inordinate amount of wuxia as a child i rly can appreciate a stupid convoluted fight scene. oh i found it hysterical that the west was just one country that was really fun.

NOW ONTO THE SHIT I HATED

rin is incredibly unlikeable i know its not the point of every book ok but tpw isnt good enough to have a protagonist who is just impossible to relate to this isnt 1984 okay this is contemporary ya. i GET that she sucks and thats the point but im supposed to emphatize with her and throughout the book she just seemed stupid and easy to manipulate and not very interesting. shes an incredibly shallow character which is i guess what happens when you base your ya teenage girl protagonist on CHAIRMAN OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY MAO ZEDONG. HELLO. anyway. all her personal relationships are very much carried by the strenght of the characters close to her, and because most characters in this book are not very interesting that makes for a shitty fucking protagonist.

most of the conflict in this book is extremely artificially generated until maybe the second half of part 3. everyone in rins life is unnessecarily mean to her because shes just so smart and good at things. the part where they accused her of cheating on the exams and she owned them like crazy came to define much of the book. some kind of mean cunt whose purpose in life is to cause misery is an asshole to rin bc shes so smart and strong and talented, and she owns them with a witty remark. she punches nezha on the first day of school for fucks sake.

speaking of the school, the majority of the book is spent at sinegard academy and it is an extremely predictable and dull affair. i long for the wizard of earthsea. kuang is not a very good writer on a technical level and everything that she tries to imply she ends up spelling out (usually by having a character say it out loud) only a couple pages later. you can get through 2/3rds of this book by just reading every other page and correctly guessing what has happened and what will happen. in possibly the funniest paragraph of part 2, rin thinks about how everybody thinks altan is the coolest guy and yet he has no friends and at this point shes been experiencing quite severe racism from all of her peers and then instead of leaving you to figure out the quite obvious conclusion kuang literally has her say "oh his skin is dark and mine is too. i wonder if he knows what racism is like" just, truly hysterical.

her feud with nezha is unbearable, i knew immediately that he would become a romantic interest because a ya protagonist cannot hate a boy for perfectly good reasons. it always has to be bc shes horny. anyways thankfully when she starts studying with jiang, jiang is there and the terrible dullness of it all is lifted somewhat

as i mentioned before, the actual historical elements in the book elevate it greatly and the third part is almost enjoyable in some sections. however, unfortunately, this is also the part of the book where rin and altans darkling situation begins. i have a sinking feeling altan may not have died, which sucks because i hated this bit. they have virtually no relationship to eachother except altan yelling at rin occasionally. now again there were bits and pieces of their relationship that i didnt quite hate, but honestly i still dont entirely buy the rin is a seerly thing emotionally because she is so detached from it. the revelation only seemed to shock her a little bit and then she was busy with being at war and her boss hating her, when she actually gains the power of the phoenix at the very end its her own hatred and egoism fueling her rather than any connection to her people. overall this again comes back to her being quite weak as a character, and the worldbuilding suffers as a result of that

in any case, ill mull over continuing the series. the ending was actually quite strong i love a genocide as a result of being a stupid fucking 19 year old (dont quote me on this please), so maybe the next one is better maybe ms kuang learned to write inbetween these 2.

You popped up on my dash and reading through your stuff I’m reminded by how much fun vol 9 was in terms of monumental pay off for things I’d been reading as set up from a decade ago. Now, because you have Zhan Tiri as your pfp, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say you maybe enjoyed the curious cat? Because I loved them! Every time they were on screen I was having a good time. Especially “You’ve lost something most important haven’t you…And Now You Have Nothing Left…HOW DELIGHTFUL!” Now I am most captivated by how the story casts the cat in the finale, the confrontation, and conclusion that the blacksmith leads the audience to (a terrible thing to have a broken heart. And there was no one to send them to the tree for repair). Team RWBY triumphs over the cat and turns their backs on them. Leaving them behind. Then when the cat is “killed” by Neo while their backs are turned, the team reacts with horror. The story is so clearly pointing to its central themes and ideas here. So, maybe the conclusion team RWBY initially draws in turning their backs on their felled adversary, and the immediate consequences of that choose, is not something they will repeat. (She will have a chance to mend her broken heart. And become something new. Such Is Balance.) ᓚᘏᗢ

V9 has zero chill it's so funny. neo does All That and the cat goes "you are like a little baby, watch THIS" and then both of them get such pointedly, unapologetically compassionate send-offs; it's tragic that the cat had no one to help them heal when their heart was broken, and neo deserves this chance to heal and grow and become better. no one in this story is a monster. the staunch refusal to celebrate or revel in the deaths of other villains was not enough V9 had to say it louder.

it'll be really interesting to see how this carries forward in relation to salem, who—well when yang throws "just because something bad happened to you once upon a time?!" in her face, salem. calms down. and listens to what yang has to say to her. and then asks "who have i taken from you?" and if that is how she responds to deliberate provocation, it beggars belief to think she would not be open to talking if approached in good faith.

if the tone of the second rwby x jl film is any indication, i don't think the girls are going to make the leap to reaching out to salem any time soon (and honestly i think she might be the one to extend an olive branch first, depending what happens at beacon) but the set up in that direction is very strong. and very exciting

yes i know daffodilpaw was hardly here but she still gets her own section bc that’s my favorite community hc collection. cormorantpaw doesn’t seem to want to be involved romantically with her, saying how she’s nice but also noting how she doesn’t tend to listen to him (which doesn’t make daffy a bad person!! just something they gotta communicate as buddies) but also mentioning how she puts her paw on his, and also in the sleeping shot cormorantpaw is staring past daffodilpaw, who sleeps next to him, and at pinepaw. i’m just. babey noooo. break out of ur toxic mindset its okkk. unless u actually do like cormorantpaw then i’m. sorry. how did i make the daffodilpaw section the longest oops

Egrettail had the patience of a saint for not beating the absolute shit out of Thrasher when they were in Defiance, and I'm certain she gave him what for on more than one occasion after Hush Puppy died.

Yes, she and Asphodelpaw may have had a conversation about similar realizations she was going through just like Cormorantpaw, heheh. We'll get there someday.

I was so excited to finally include Seven Silvers in an issue!! When I first created her character I wasn't planning on it, but she's just too fun not to use. Hell, I'm allowed to invent magic cat hormone therapy if I want to, who's gonna stop me. Seven, Hush Puppy, and Egret are any manner of close friends you like, and found family/siblings are as good a way as any.

The POVs from other characters are not going to be very common, since Pinepaw is the protagonist in the end, but it's always nice to dip back into Cormorantpaw's thick little skull. I was pretty pleased with myself for thinking of the rubberhose style joke with "lovebug", honestly. Don't worry about his angst, I'm sure it's nothing.

Good catch on everything with Daffodilpaw in this issue! It's something I did intentionally include, and did want to draw a comparison between Corm describing her as not really listening to him with Pinepaw always listening to what he says (which as you said, doesn't mean Daff is a bad person, just that she's got her own things to work out).

i kind of like maybe just a little adore the new clue set cards like. the clue set itself is a weird and overpriced product and the physical cards themselves are definitely gonna be stupid overpriced because nobody wants to buy a board game to crack packs but like. the cards themselves? kind of fire?

i kind of adore that theyre not just all rares and we are getting clue set commons and stuff :3 its cute! and we're getting a new lonis too-- its not a super interesting card but i adore lonis and im very excited to play with more of her. and we get an interesting new land cycle in the cluelands too! the art for them kinda blows at the moment but at some point in the future i assume they'll be reprinted in a set that gives them fun and interesting art? maybe? please? im not exactly itching to play them but ill never turn down another cycle of duals teehee

id love to talk about some individual cards from the lineup so far that i adore! these are just my top picks but id recommend going and looking at the full list spoiled so far on scryfall :3

for starters, my favorite card from the whole spoiler season right now i think has to be scuttling sentinel. i dont think i want to play her in any commander deck, but in my opinion this is like one of the top cards for cubes in 2024 period-- like cankerbloom tier of cube card. she's awesome! a crab elf which is such an awesome creature type, playable with green or blue, puts 1/1 counters on things and its main draw is just being a decent body that offers protection :) she's great!!!! ive already slotted her into the cube ive been piecing together recently. i like her a lot.

resonance technician is such a cool spell copier <3 every part of it is kind of expensive so im not really sure where youd play it but it does a lot of cool things all at once on a single card which is fun! the flavor is cool-- we all love weirds here-- and the functionality is useful and cute. cool card. big fan

we also have portal manipulator who is like one of the weirdest and strongest combat tricks ive ever seen? this is like if aetherize also fucked your shit in. so i can absolutely see this seeing a lot of play honestly. but lets be real here this card just has amazing art. thheres portals around her skull !!! god shes so cool.

corporeal projection gets a shoutout because what a fun effect <3 it being izzet is awesome and on-flavor and the card itself is both an interesting choice to give your creature myriad for extra damage and a fun wincon :) im glad theres a simple and convenient way to give one creature myriad now that isn't a brick to run in my commander decks because it has a high-cost endgame mode. yay!

finally it wouldnt be a goqmir set review if i didnt shout out the new cards that work well in Naya Cast From Exile :3 Boros Strike-Captain seems kind of mid but it's important to remember that the card never goes away, and you can cast it any time after when you attack with at least 3 creatures even if BSC is off the battlefield. big fan of this one! im not sure if i can find the space to jam him in my Rocco Street Chef decklist but he's a very playable option.

Personally, i think Headliner Scarlett is the winner this set. She's a very good hit pretty much any time-- you're always gonna get a minimum of 4 free damage when she sticks, and if you play her early you get some pretty strong card advantage, which turns into very very strong card advantage in both Rocco and Prosper. if you pull her late, she can win you the game straight up by allowing you to swing out uninhibited-- though i can't speak for Prosper players, this will pretty much always be at minimum a knock out if you pull it lategame in Rocco. definitely making room for her in my decklist.

anyway thats just some cards i liked from the weird product thats coming out :3 i was and still am iffy on purchasing the product and expect the cards to be a little too expensive but as far as designs go they're pretty cool and im very happy that they exist! um sqrrk <3

you have allowed me to rant about a new idea i have and you WILL listen OK SO HERE'S THE DEAL WITH THIS AU.

this AU will be drawing on a lot of my own personal experiences with neglect/abuse!! It's a pretty DIRE AU but its also supposed to be kind of funny in a dark sorta way i guess.

SO SPLINTER RIGHT? SO. I'm gonna level with you anon, he's just gonna be an absolute dogshit father. A bad person, even. and he will never admit it.

the situation is very "I'm not hurting you, I provide everything for you! and if I am hurting you then it's not that bad, and if it IS that bad it's not my fault because parenting isnt fucking easy" in a cyclical way in which he is never to blame.

any attempts he makes to reconcile with his kids have everything to do with what he THINKS a "good parent" should do and NOTHING to do with actually thinking of his kids as people.

so he'll hug Donnie if Donnie is crying, but if Donnie tries to pull away, Splinter won't let him go, even if Donnie REALLY DOESNT WANT TO BE HUGGED RIGHT NOW (<- based on a real event)

He's got no concept of boundaries and sees his children trying to set boundaries as an insult against The Closeness of their Relationship.

he says he doesn't have favorites but he'll always make excuses for Leo's behavior/abuse of his siblings. he doesn't think of himself as a mean person, but he'll laugh if the thing his kids are upset about aren't "serious" enough to warrant their reactions, or he'll be annoyed if they're upset about something he considers trivial.

he gets annoyed at Donnie and Mikey's stimming and often implies or just says his kids are stupid/think stupid things/got what they deserved for acting stupid.

(side note: Mikey is terrified of being "stupid" because Splinter has made it clear that the way to avoid harm is by "not being stupid" and if you're "stupid" then you somehow deserve what happens to you in a really gross victim-blamey way)

The closest thing they have to Family Bonding Time is eating meals together, watching TV/movies together, and training together. Which Splinter always makes worse/more tense whenever he's there because no one knows when it's going to stop being Nice Family Time and start being Splinter Dissecting The Way You Eat Time.

And in their free time he really doesn't give a shit what they do. He doesn't want them going topside for like the first 13 years, but he also doesn't really check up on them until its the end of the day (in which case he doesn't actually put them to bed. he just makes sure they're inside and then locks them all in while he goes to sleep so that they can't get lost or something. he does NOT give them good hygiene/sleeping habits I tell ya waht)

so they start sneaking out to the surface when they're pretty young and he has no idea cause he's "too busy" to watch them all the time. This has led to a lot of small accidents that could've been avoided if the fucking CHILDREN were being WATCHED but WHATEVER.

BASICALLY - he is a BAD DAD in this AU and he should never have had kids.
