Hi!!!
Could you write jealous!eddie x reader…🫣
I’m down so bad for this man istg
ty for requesting :D i too am down bad for this man — grump!eddie can't believe other people get to look at you (jealous!eddie, established relationship, 1.7k)
bug's one year celebration ♡
Eddie thought the comic book section of Family Video was the coolest thing in the world until he met you. And it’s weird ‘cause now you’re all he can think about. He’s holding a collector’s item in his hands, but all he can see is you — and how close you’re standing to Steve ‘The Hair’ Harrington.
The boy lays two VHS tapes on the counter before you, each packaged in a thick plastic case. My Neighbor Totoro and The Land Before Time. He waits for you to make an impossible choice while you idle just ahead of him, elbows propped on the countertop with your head in your hands. Your wide-eyed gaze darts between the two options.
Your head shakes between your palms. “I can’t decide,” you conclude, rising to full height with a final huff. “It’s like choosing your favorite child.”
“Well, good thing you don’t have to,” Steve quips with a lopsided smirk. His nose scrunches, and it makes his honey eyes sparkle. “‘Cause you’re getting both. On the house.”
“You don’t have to do that,” you tell him, brows pinched in a quiet sort of protest.
He drops the tapes into a plastic bag, then shrugs like his hand slipped. “Too late.”
“Won’t your boss get mad?”
“What Keith doesn’t know won’t hurt him.”
“I don’t want you getting in trouble because of me,” you agonize, face twisted with every bit of it.
Steve meets your worry with a wider, pink grin. He bounces a shoulder and jostles the nametag pinned haphazardly to his emerald vest. “I’ll be fine, alright? I’m strong— I can take one of Keith’s stupid lectures.”
Your hesitant fingers brush his golden ones when you take the bag from him. “You’re so brave, Steve Harrington,” you lilt with a teasing glint in your eye, tilting your cheek to your shoulder to feign sincerity.
“The bravest, actually,” the boy jokes in return.
Eddie watches all this play out from where he lingers at the comic book stand. A whole rack of his favorite superheroes, and he isn’t paying an ounce of attention to a single one.
He was only halfway listening at first, still mostly focused on the cartoon in his hands — if only to pretend he wasn’t completely eavesdropping on your conversation. But now he’s outright staring the two of you down, with an unabashed glare pointed at the asshole flirting with his girl.
“God, he’s disgusting,” Eddie grumbles under his breath when Steve says something that makes you laugh.
He’s not talking totally to himself. Not entirely, anyway. Dustin’s crouched just beside him in search of one of the newer comics that he swears Keith is hiding from him. “He’s just being nice,” the curly-haired boy reasons with a shrug, obviously distracted as he flips through a stack of flimsy magazines.
Eddie scoffs and finally turns away from you to look at the boy below him. He blinks for the first time in several minutes as he shoots the kid a deadpan stare. “Oh, so it’s not because he thinks my girlfriend’s hot?”
“He’s definitely doing it because she’s hot,” Dustin answers without thinking twice.
“Watch it, Henderson.”
“You asked!” he argues, tilting his chin to look up at Eddie with a wide, ocean-eyed stare. “I’m just saying. Steve’s a good guy. He wouldn’t do that to you— Now, can you please help me find this stupid comic book before I lose my mind?”
Eddie huffs. He decides it might be healthier to distract himself with this metaphorical treasure hunt than stare daggers at you and Steve from across the room. “Which one are you looking for again?”
“Metamorpho— The original. Not the stupid reprint that just came out.”
The older boy stills. He closes the comic book between his palms with one pale hand until the cover of it flips down. Metamorpho, the vibrant cover reads, The Element Man. He’d been too busy looking at you, he hadn’t realized he’d been hiding the thing from Dustin for five whole minutes.
“Is this it?” Eddie murmurs, shoving the thing in the boy’s face.
Dustin’s head shoots up. He snatches the thing from the boy’s grip and gapes at it, with all his practiced teenage boy dramatics. “You had it the entire time?!” he shouts, but Eddie’s already sauntering to the front counter — where Steve’s still making you laugh.
As pretty as you are smiling (so much that it makes his chest ache), there’s a simmering anger burning orange in his chest. Making you laugh is his job. Not Harrington’s.
You seem to notice his presence before he’s even wrapped you in his arms. You flash him a beaming grin that makes his stomach whirl. He gets sick with it — with nostalgia or something equally tender.
The green of his envy starts to fade when he realizes you’re wearing his skull and cross-bones sweater, all bundled up in it like it’s yours. He feels a primal sense of ownership, knowing that you’re swaddled in something that belongs to him, knowing he has you in a way Steve doesn’t. It’s not every day the local freak gets to one-up the king.
“Ready to go?” Eddie grins, rosy and broad, as he wraps his arms around you in a loose, sideways embrace. The warmth of the proximity has your stomach doing backflips. The familiarity of his scent, musky and woody and smoky, makes your heart thud hard against your ribcage.
“Yep,” you nod, still smiling. “Steve’s letting me get the movies for free.”
Eddie’s lips smack against his teeth as his jaw drops in a feigned sense of awe. His wild curls bunch at his shoulder when his head tilts softly sideways, looking at the boy across the counter. “Aw,” he croons, high-pitched and sarcastic. “Isn’t that sweet?”
Steve rolls his eyes. “Shut up before I revoke your comic stand privileges.”
Eddie squints. “You wouldn’t dare.”
“Try me, Munson.”
Eddie, deciding to be the bigger person, chooses to abandon the petty argument. He feels like the bigger person, anyway — like he’s ten feet tall, walking out of Family Video with you under his arm. He could lose a thousand arguments and still feel like a winner as long as he gets to crawl home to you.
You can’t help but notice how weird he’s being, though. There was a foreign bite behind his words as he spat his sarcasm at Steve. The tension follows you even now, as he opens the passenger side door of his van for you.
Eddie holds onto the rusted latch with a pale, tattooed hand. You turn to face him instead of planting yourself onto the chipping pleather seat. “Are you okay?” you ask, a subtle furrow between your brows when you peer at him from beneath your lashes.
The boy scoffs a boyish laugh, obviously overcompensating. “Yeah, I’m fine— what are you talking about?”
Your eyes narrow. “You’re being weird.”
“I think you’re being weird, doll— interrogating me outta nowhere.”
He expects you to laugh. Then he could tell you how pretty you are, and you’d be so flustered by the compliment that you’d forget this entire conversation ever happened. You don’t laugh, though. You don’t even crack a smile. You just keep staring at him.
“I’m fine,” Eddie groans, wild curls billowing when a breeze rolls by. He still tries to smile, though the bright pink expression doesn’t quite meet his eyes. He shrugs and tries to play it cool because anything less than that is so not metal. “I’m just… I’m just a little annoyed. That’s all.”
Your chest stings and your stomach starts to ache. Your mind reels as you try to understand what you could’ve done because the oh-so-sensitive you feels like it must be your fault.
“Annoyed at me?” you press in a tiny voice.
“No!” Eddie booms instantly, much louder than you. He quietens, but his face still swirls with protest. He could never be annoyed at you. As far as he’s concerned, you’ve never done anything wrong in your life. “No— are you kidding? You’re perfect.”
He takes your face in his ringed hands, cradling your cheeks until they squish softly together. A perfect thing, indeed.
“Then what happened?” you mutter through your gently jutted lips.
The boy drops his chin to his chest and sighs. He hates that you care so much about him that you actually make him talk about his feelings. He’d much rather bottle them up and save ‘em for a rainy day. But no, you love him enough to pry the hidden emotion from his cold, black heart.
“I don’t know,” he answers first in an inaudible murmur, kicking at loose pebbles on the concrete because it’s easier than meeting your eyes. “Sometimes it gets annoying when… Other people look at you, I guess…”
He peeks at you beneath his long lashes, button eyes made of chocolate. They swim with a glittering emotion. Something tender and sheepish. He’s like a puppy when he looks at you this way. You can’t help but find him utterly adorable accordingly.
He’s a little surprised when his words make you laugh. He wasn’t joking, really, but he’s relieved to hear the honeyed sound. It runs over him like drops of summer rain and absolves him of all his envy.
“Unfortunately, I don’t think I can fix that,” you reply, smiling wide between his calloused palms.
“I know,” he whines, pouting softly. “And it sucks. ‘Cause you’re too pretty for your own good.”
You lean further into his warm hand. You blink at him with pretty eyes, and in a pretty voice, you wonder, “Would it make you feel better if I said that I only care when you’re looking at me? And that everyone else is basically invisible when you’re around?”
Eddie’s heart swells so much it starts to ache. You’ve awoken something in him — something that used to be dead before you came around, or something that didn’t exist at all. It’s something golden and made of velvet. Something warm and honeyed. Something that doesn’t have a name because you don’t even know you’ve invented it.
Despite trying not to smile too wide, a beam begins to pull at the corners of his mouth. A second later, and he’s grinning with all his teeth. He gets all shy, ducking his gaze as he nods at you. “Yeah, actually— that does make me feel a little better.”
You beam up at him, all lovesick and stupid. With your cheeks still in his hands, you rise to the tips of your toes and press a smacking kiss to the flushed apple of his cheek.
Eddie figures it doesn’t get more metal than this.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You were trapped there again.
Afraid.
Your body was already shaking, just anticipating the heavy footsteps once that creaky door opened. Your breathing hitched as those thoughts became reality. The loud creak made you stumble as you hurried to the kitchen.
Swiftly, you tried to stop your hands from shaking as you prepped a plate. Tears were rolling down your cheeks as you heard a heavy bag hit the floor. Your heart was about to burst out of your chest. You couldn't focus and because of that...
CRASH.
"Fuck, woman." Eddie hissed.
You started sobbing and apologizing as you attempted to clean up your mess. His footsteps grew louder and harsher as they drew closer to you. Your breathing stopped as Eddie appeared in front of you. A harsh scowl on his face as he looked down at you.
"Tch, so useless. Clean this shit up and get my dinner ready. I got to head out again soon." Eddie spat as he gave you a swift kick to your stomach.
"S-Sorry....hn...I-I'm so s-sorry." You sobbed, holding your stomach in pain as you kept cleaning.
"Can't believe I got stuck with you."
---------
"I'm sorry!" You gasped, crying as you awoke.
It was hot. You felt sweat all over your body as you scooted off your bed. Another nightmare about him. This was the first one you had since you officially dated Miguel. Unable to stop shaking, you hurried to your living room and grabbed a puzzle.
It had been two weeks since Halloween night. You were happy with Miguel. Everything was going so smoothly, so why. Why were you having nightmares again?
"It's s-so l-late...I-I...d-don't...want...want to bother...." You sniffled lowly, shaking as you reached for your phone.
Miguel had told you to call him whenever you needed to calm down. He was so understanding. Shuddering as you felt your chest tighten, you hesitated to press on Miguel's name. It was almost midnight. What were the chances that he was awake?
-------
Miguel sat alone in a dark room. The only visible thing were his eyes that seemed to have a red glow to them. An echo of a tap was heard until the door creaked opened. Miguel exhaled softly as he watched Miles and his little crew enter.
"Still nothing?" Miguel's tone was more than annoyed.
"Our lead got us nowhere. The best we can do is just keep watching the supermarket." Peter stepped in. Miguel's eye twitched,
"Why is it so hard to find one man?"
"Well, to be fair, we're always fighting someone so our attention isn't that focused on this one dude," Gwen sighed and glanced at Miles, "Maybe we can draw-"
Miguel slammed his fist against the desk. His glare more prominent than normal. Everyone took this as a sign to leave. Not before apologizing to Miguel first. Once they were all gone, Miguel hissed lowly as he grabbed a bottle of whiskey from under his desk.
Right as he poured the liquid into a glass, Miguel growled at the sound of his phone. It was late and Miguel was ready to go home, but of course, that new pest of a mafia group had to cause trouble. This new Venom group was going to be destroyed one way or another.
"(Y/N)?" Miguel whispered as he saw your name on his phone, "It's late, Conejita (bunny), why are you still up?" He lowered his voice for you.
"I...I had a n-nightmare," You whimpered.
Miguel's eyes soften as he leaned back in his seat. Your voice was scratchy and low. You've been crying. That and your stuttering was pretty bad. Oh, how he wished you were in his arms right now for him to comfort you.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Miguel glanced at his watch, his own exhausted eyes drooping slightly,
"N-No...I...I just...j-just need to c-calm down. I-I like...h-hearing y-your voice." You whimpered softly. Miguel inhaled deeply as he found the energy to stand,
"I'll be there in a bit, amor (love). Don't worry."
"O-Okay,"
Miguel smiled softly as he heard the relief in your tone. He hung up, then immediately called his driver. Despite still having a lot of work to do, Miguel was going to call it a night. He can have his men and women do his dirty work for now.
Miguel needed his relief.
----------
You played with your sleeves as you fixed up your place. It helped you clear your mind a bit since Miguel was coming over. Hurrying to the bedroom, you doublechecked his spare clothes. Since you started dating, you bought Miguel some cozy clothes in case he ever decided to stay over again.
You were always the one to sleep over at his place.
Feeling your cheeks burn, you shook the thought away and hurried back to the living room. Miguel was going to come over any minute now. You needed to finish your puzzle.
'Pick up this shit! What are you a fucking child?'
Your breathing shuddered as the voice screamed from the back of your mind. You held the small piece in your palm, unable to stop shaking. Your sleeves slowly rolling down, revealing the scars you gave yourself as a means of escape.
'Do you have ANY FUCKING IDEA how fucked I'll be if you tried to fucking kill yourself? Don't be a stupid little bitch!'
Tears rolled down your cheeks as you sobbed once more. Why did his voice have to come back and haunt you? Why was he such a poison in your mind? Eddie was a venom. Eating away at your soul until you were nothing left.
"(Y/N)?" Miguel knocked against your door.
Quickly, you hurried to him. You tackled Miguel, wrapping your arms around him as you sobbed into his chest. With ease, Miguel picked you up and carried you into the bedroom. You didn't want to let him go.
"What's wrong, (Y/N)?" Miguel asked, sitting you on the bed. He noticed a pair of clothes set aside for him, "Hm?"
"I-I k-keep hearing...h-his...his voice. I-I can't..." You tighten your grip against his jacket, "I-I'm sorry. S-Sorry I'm a burden."
"But you're not," Miguel sighed softly and lifted your chin, kissing your tears away, "He is no longer in your life. Y estoy planeando matar al cabrón por ti, mi conejito. (And I'm planning on killing the fucker for you, my bunny)."
"Mhm, M-Miguel..." You whispered, only understanding the 'bunny' part, "Um...I, um...I got you some comfortable clothes...to s-sleep in. W-Would you like s-shower first?"
"Only if you join me,"
You bit your lower lip and slowly nodded. Honestly, just having Miguel here was calming you down. Following Miguel into the bathroom, you helped set the water and squeaked softly as Miguel already started to get undressed.
You followed suit, still hesitating with your clothes. Miguel approached you, his hands gently holding your waist. You closed your eyes, finally removing your shirt. Miguel responded with a hum and proceeded to kiss you,
"My beautiful girl," He whispered, slowly pulling you into the shower with him.
Your heart fluttered every time Miguel complemented you. Your shower was small, so your bodies were pressed against each other. Miguel had you in his embrace, his head resting against the crook of your neck as the warm water hit his skin.
"(Y/n), whenever you think of that asshole, I want you to remember that I'm taking care of you now," Miguel whispered in your ear as his hands stroked your sides, "That I cherish you for the wonderful woman you are."
"M-Miguel," You whispered, feeling your back pressed against the wall.
You whimpered softly as Miguel started to kiss and nibble at your neck and shoulder. You slowly wrapped your arms around his broad shoulders as Miguel lifted you up. You shuddered as Miguel started to grind his hips into yours, causing you to wrap your legs around his waist.
"Call out of work tomorrow, amor. Let me spoil you."
"B-But...mhm, I-I can't...c-call out again." You whimpered softly, resisting a moan as Miguel's dick slid against your folds, "M-My...b-b-bills"
"I'll take care of everything," Miguel hummed, making his marks on you, "You deserve a break. Let me take care of you."
"M-Miggy," You moaned as his tip poked your hole.
You arched your back against the wall, giving Miguel more space to mark you. He hummed in response, his fingers slowly rubbing circles against your clit. The heat of the shower was fogging your mind as you started to give into the pleasure.
"That's right, let me take care of you." Miguel hummed, stealing your lips in a kiss as he gently slid his dick inside you.
"Mhpm~"
Your legs tighten around Miguel's waist as he started to thrust into you. His gentle yet rough thrusts sending you to nirvana with each slap. Whimpers and moans were coming out loudly as you clenched around Miguel's cock.
Every time Miguel fucked you, it made you remember the difference between him and your past relationship. Miguel was far too good for you. Gasping, you fell victim to an orgasm with another simple rough thrust from Miguel.
"Gooooood girl. That's right, you're doing so good for me," Miguel groaned, his thrusts getting a little faster and harsher.
You flung your head back, crying out as Miguel kept hitting your sweet spot. Your hands were gripping his hair, your head resting against his shoulder.
"Miggy~"
-------
Miguel grunted as you kept clenching around his dick. Your blissed out expression gave him full to keep going. You were doing better giving yourself into him. Miguel just needed you to realize that you didn't have to work anymore.
That you could live with him.
Hearing loud knocking from against the shower wall, Miguel chuckled darkly. Seems like his shy bunny was being too loud for your neighbors. You didn't even notice as Miguel drew another orgasm out of you.
"Let's take this to the bed," Miguel chuckled.
Still holding onto you, Miguel turned the water off and brought a towel. He placed the towel on the bed before laying you on your back. His harsh and rough thrusts continued as he pressed you into mating position.
"I'll treat you like the princess you deserve to be," Miguel grunted as he unloaded inside of you.
"M-Mig..." You breathed out, "P-Please...K-Keep going,"
Miguel just chuckled as he kissed you deeply. Your cute fucked out expression just begging for more. Miguel flipped you on your stomach, pressing himself against you back. You whimpered and moaned as his rough thrusts continued.
"Ah, sabe tan bien. Eres mi dulce conejita en celo, ¿no? ¿Quieres que te dé una razón para ser mía? (Ah, taste so good. You are my sweet little bunny in heat aren't you? Want me to give you a reason to be mine?)" Miguel whispered, falling into his own lust.
Miguel pressed his hand against your back, watching you grip the bed sheets. Your moans filling his ears like music. Your sweet pussy dripping and sucking his dick, forming a white ring around his cock. Your moans were almost pornographic as Miguel finally let loose.
"I'm going to treat you so well tomorrow. I've had such a long day." Miguel whispered in your ear, "Going to make you forget all about what hurts you."
"Miguel~!" You cried out, collapsing after a harsh orgasm.
Miguel sighed softly as he finished. Another grunt and a moan, Miguel gave you one last load of his cum. A loud sigh escaping his throat as relief washed over him. As he pulled out, Miguel smiled at his work once more.
You were fast asleep, your body twitching softly with his marks all over you. Miguel put on the clothes you got him and proceeded to wipe you down. He found some new pajamas for you and got you dressed before finally climbing into your bed.
"Not the best way to comfort her, but this works too," Miguel told himself before falling asleep.
---------
"Took forever, but we finally had time to get here." Eddie huffed as he stood in front of the supermarket you worked at, "Now to take back what belongs to me."

One Call | E.M.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eddie calls you to pick him up from the police station — eddie x fem!hopper!reader fluff
warnings: eddie gets taken to the police station for peeing in the lake lol
words: 0.8k
Tumblr media
“Alright, you know the drill. Someone’s gotta pick you up; you get one call.” Your dad told Eddie, even though they had been through this routine before. “Your uncle again?”
Eddie shook his head. “Nah, Wayne’s out of town. Fishing trip with his buddies. He told me not to bother him unless it’s an emergency.”
“This doesn’t qualify as important enough to call?” One of the officers piped up.
Eddie turned his neck to look at the cop. “Nope. This is just a normal Tuesday for me.”
Your dad held the phone out for your boyfriend. “Well, you got anyone else you can call?”
Eddie held back a mischievous grin, taking the phone. “I have one person I can call, but I don’t think you’re gonna be happy about it.”
✦✧✦✧✦
You rushed down to the station as quickly as possible, only making one stop along the way to grab a peace offering from Benny’s. Before going inside, you looked through the window to scan the tone of the building, making sure it was okay to go inside.
You opened the door and saw Eddie in handcuffs at one of the officers’ desks, twirling a pen with his fingers. Before he got the chance to look up at you, your dad came out from his office looking surprised to see you.
“Hey, kiddo, what are you doing here?” He asked.
You held out the take-out bag for him. “I, uh, I brought you lunch.”
“She’s got ulterior motives, Hopper!” Eddie piped up from across the room. You turned and shot him a glare, along with a whispered 'shut up'.
Your dad looked confused, now starting to understand the food you brought. "What's he talking about?"
There was an awkward silence as you tried to figure out how to word the reason you were really here.
"Well, Dad, I'm also here to pick Eddie up."
He dropped the takeout bag on the nearest desk and pointed an accusatory finger at Eddie, who sported a smirk.
“This punk?” Your dad asked, raising his voice. “You’re friends with this punk?”
Much to your dismay, Eddie spoke up again. “Dating, actually. But I can’t believe it either, Hopper, honestly.”
Even in the tensest of moments, your Eddie still finds a way to flatter you. You wanted to smile and thank him, but then you remembered he was just brought into the police station and hadn’t told you why, so you stopped yourself.
“Yeah, Dad, I am. And I know that you can’t stop me from bailing him out, so give me the form to sign.”
The officer whose desk Eddie was sitting at handed you a clipboard and a pen so you could sign and say that you would bail him out and keep him out of trouble for the time being. You flashed a cocky smile to your dad and started filling out the blanks.
Your dad rubbed his forehead like he was tired of everyone around him—which he was. “Don’t give her the clipboard until I’m done scolding her.” He mumbled.
“You know I brought him in for pissing in Lover’s Lake with his punk friends, right?”
You did not know that. But you weren’t going to let him win this round.
“Oh, like Lover’s Lake isn’t already full of piss!” You countered.
“Is that really the hill you want to die on?”
You forcefully handed the completed clipboard to the officer while rolling your eyes.
“I don’t want to die on any hill, I just want to pick up my boyfriend!”
Eddie gasped happily as the man took off his handcuffs. “She called me her boyfriend.”
You had to admit, it made you happy too. Even though you were mad at everyone in the room, your angry expression morphed into a smile. “I know, it felt good to say.” You then turned back to your dad. “I’m going now. If you have more to say to me, we can talk tonight.”
With that, you and your boyfriend started walking towards the door. He opened it for you and motioned for you to go first. You started to walk out, but shot a glare at Eddie as you walked by. He messed up and he knew it.
Before Eddie closed the door behind you, your dad shouted one last thing at you. “You know, kid, just ‘cause he’s out of trouble, doesn’t mean you are!”
You looked back at him through the doorway. “Oh, believe me, Dad, he’s not out of trouble yet!”

Heyhey! Can I ask you about headcanons (or whatever you feel like writing, the format isn't really a problem) of Eddie with a girlfriend who shares the same interests as him, like she loves metal music and knows well how to play D&D and she's also strong and often snap at Jason and people who talk shit about him?
I need some comfort :')
his other half - e. munson
Tumblr media
:pairing: eddie munson x popular!fem! reader
:warnings: minors dni, eddie being a menace to society and we love him for it , mentions of bullying (typical s4 faire for our beloved freak), semi-popular reader not fitting into cliche’s, you are responsible for your own media consumption!
:a/n: i have limited d&d knowledge so please be kind if i got something wrong! i made a whole ass character sheet trying to help :’( also i made a heather’s reference bc i can’t be helped
it was hard to believe that the resident freak bagged one of hawkins golden children, and yet here you were; thursday nights spent in an old drama class room helping eddie run his sadistic campaigns over his party.
they couldn’t tell who had a worse mean streak, sure eddie was brutal, but you? when you helped him dm, it was a match made in hell for the party.
“holy shit dude. we haven’t been slaughtered like that since the first week of vecna’s campaign.” dustin said, looking down at the miniatures laying on their sides
you really did try and be nice and save them. with a deep sigh you changed your tone from your dm voice to the mom friend they’ve grown to love. “um, everyone, make a death saving throw.”
all the d20s on the table added up to a whopping fifteen. eddie smirked at you and sat back down on his throne. “and that, my dear gentlemen, is why you shouldn’t complain about my campaigns. my queen wrote this one all herself.” he kissed you quickly as he pulled you into his lap and then dismissed the club.
the next day at lunch they were all still talking about how brutal you were. “can’t believe little miss sunshine has a mean streak like that.” “what did you expect? she’s eddie’s girl. they’re practically the same person.”
smiling as you made your way to your favorite freaks, you feel someone tap your shoulder to see jason staring down at you. “can i help you?”
“y/n, why do you hang around those freaks so much? you’re too pretty and popular for them. come sit with who you belong with. got a spot on my lap with your name on it.” he winked and you audibly gagged.
“news flash jason, i enjoy my freaks, and i’m proud to be one. i love d&d, i love metallica and crue, and frankly, i love not being harassed by the men i surround myself with. so run along and go back to the future gas station attendants of america club, and i’ll be happy over here with my nerds.”
eddie walked up behind you, only heating half the conversation. when you felt his arms wrap around you, you eased into his touch and jason scoffed and walked away. “bitch.”
you rolled your eyes and laughed as you and eddie walked back to the hellfire table. “princess, that was hot as fuck.” your boyfriend smiled at you in awe of how you stood up to his tormentor.
you were truly the momma bear of the outcasts, not afraid to defend them with your life if you had too. eddie and his “sheep” as he lovingly called them were the most targeted and it struck a nerve with you every time.
“just wait until he says something about you or the kids again. you’ll see how hot i can get.”

I was just thinking about bestfriends eddie x reader where reader accidentally calls eddie daddy because theyre so similar. She goes to say a d name but catches herself and says eddie. She was talking fast and didnt even catch herself saying it until eddies like "did you just call me daddy?"
Accidentally calling Eddie ‘Daddy’. Eddie Munson x female reader. Blurb. Fluff.
I hope this is okay, I’m sick at the moment so it’s kinda self indulgent but I tried to personalise it a bit for you!
The night was like any other of yours and Eddie’s movie nights. Bags of candy spilled out on the floor, blankets swallowing you both up and a blunt being passed between you. Today was tiring, work couldn’t be more stressful and of course you were understaffed. Eddie came to pick you up at closing time, he already had your cup of tea in his cup-holder. It was the small things you appreciated the most from your best friend.
You had your head on his chest, because Eddie said “it will help your migraine I promise.” You wanted to believe him but the smirk on his face just showed he wanted to look after you. Eddie held his palm to your forehead, “you’re burning up a little, I’ll get you some medicine. Wait right here.” He ushers himself out from the blankets and into the kitchen. Rooting through the cupboards as you pause the movie, he reappears holding a bottle and a medicine spoon. Pouring the contents onto the spoon, “open up darling” he smirks as he feeds you.
You wince at the taste of the bitter medicine, swiftly taking a swig of your soda to wash away the taste. Wiping your mouth you whisper, “thank you d-daddy” “e-Eddie I meant Eddie!!” Your face flushes immediately, wanting the ground to swallow you up as you blurt out your sentence. Your brain was on auto pilot and Eddie and Daddy sounded far too similar for your mouth to comprehend whilst you’re suffering so bad with your migraine.
“What was that? Did you just call me daddy?” Eddie smirks, teasing you as he pulls your hands away from your blushing face.
“I- no! The words got scrambled in my head m’sorry I’m so embarrassed, I’m sorry.” You pull away from Eddie’s touch, bringing your knees to your chest and resting your head on them. Terrified that you’ve ruined your friendship, how could Eddie not see you differently after calling him that? A word so not-inherently bad but turned kinky and shameful, he could assume you’re into that. Not that it would be a bad thing to be kinky, you just weren’t.
“Hey hey hey.” Eddie pulls at your arms, “just look at me.” His voice is like velvet, so comforting but you’re shaking. Wishing you could be ignorant and never face this issue. “Come on princess, just want to see you smile.” You can almost hear the smirk in his voice.
You stick to your guns, refusing to move and face him. “You leave me no choice then, I didn’t want to do this sweetheart. But you asked for this..” Eddie coos into your ear before teasing his fingers over your neck, ghosting over your skin and down to your sides. He pokes and prods your ribs, flailing back into Eddie’s chest, trying to swat at his hands to put an end to his ticklish assault.
“Okay! Okay!” You plead, holding on to Eddie’s wrists and looking deep into his eyes. He stills his hands, holding yours and dropping them into his lap. “I didn’t mean to say it Eddie, honestly.” Your voice stuttering as you whimpered. “It’s not a big deal. Seriously, I understand. You do that a lot with words, I’ve seen it. You’re okay. It’s okay. We’re okay.” A mischievous smile spreads over his face when he sees you let go of the breath you’ve been holding for the entire moment. Sighing, you let yourself smile, feeling safe knowing that Eddie doesn’t judge you.
“There’s that smile. Gotta hear that laugh too, you know, for daddy?” He teases before jumping on top of you and tickling you again.

the fifth night
for @steddieholidaydrabbles prompt 'hanukkah' (my family is non-practicing, but my great grandfather saltzman very much tried to keep us involved and the dreidel game with chocolate gelt was his way of teaching us something) rated: t wc: 736 tags: non-practicing Jewish Eddie, getting together, first kiss, flirting through the use of chocolate
🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙
Steve hadn't spoken to Miriam in almost ten years, not since his parents had let her go with the excuse that he was old enough to take care of his own needs at the age of 10.
She'd left him her number to call if he needed anything, but as most children do, he lost the piece of paper it was on.
Every year, on the fifth night of Hanukkah, he thought of her and her family, how they'd always made sure he was a part of their celebrations, even if he didn't understand most of them.
"What're you making?" Eddie asked as he walked into the kitchen, hands full of notebooks and folders for Hellfire.
"Latkes. Do you think everyone will want applesauce or sour cream?" Steve said over his shoulder, focused on making sure none of them overcooked. "Maybe I should just get both out. Gareth will probably want ketchup. Dustin, too."
He was met with silence, which was fine, he was used to Eddie distracting himself from conversations before he even got the answer to his original question. It was something he kind of lo-
"You're making latkes."
Steve turned at the tone in his voice, serious, but with the hint of a smile.
Sure enough, Eddie had a small smile on his face.
"Have you had latkes?" Steve asked.
Eddie set his things down on the counter and froze, noticing the mesh bag of chocolate gold coins sitting there.
"Are these for a dreidel game?" Eddie looked up at him.
"I don't have a dreidel anymore, but I figured since it's the fifth night, I could give one to everyone," Steve shrugged.
"I didn't know you celebrated Hanukkah."
"I mean, I don't. Not for religious purposes. But my nanny when I was young taught me about it and always brought her kids over on the fifth night to play," Steve watched as Eddie opened the bag and pulled out a coin. "Have you played?"
"My mom's family celebrated. I didn't really get a chance to do much, but when I was little, she always snuck me extra chocolate coins while the older kids argued about who won or whatever," Eddie smiled sadly. "Wayne tried to teach me, but I was kind of a brat when I first started living with him so I never learned."
Steve walked over to him, placing a hand on his arm and squeezing reassuringly.
"Never too late to learn. Maybe I can find one tomorrow?"
Eddie's eyes widened.
"Wait, did you say Miriam? Miriam Saltzman?" Eddie stood up straight.
"Um, yeah I think so. Why?"
"My aunt Miriam used to be a nanny!"
Steve's eyes widened.
"My Miriam? She's your aunt?"
Eddie nodded. "Must be." He paused, then tilted his head at Steve. "You're the Steve she always said she wished she could take home with her. She loved you."
Steve felt his face heat up in a blush, and that was before Eddie's hands cupped his cheeks.
"You must've been cute if she loved you so much. She barely liked most of the kids in the family," Eddie smirked. "You're pretty cute now."
Steve's lips parted in shock at Eddie's words.
"Cannot believe you're making latkes for us tonight. And giving us gelt? I knew I loved you for a reason," Eddie continued.
For a brief moment, Steve realized that the latkes in the oil would be burnt by the time he got back to them, but it passed quickly when he saw Eddie's eyes dart down to his lips and back up to his eyes.
"Might even give you two coins if you kiss me," Steve whispered.
"Sounds like a deal to me," Eddie smirked as he leaned in to brush their lips together in one of the softest kisses Steve's ever had.
When they pulled apart, Steve ran back to the stove while Eddie watched him, distracted from setting up the table for D&D.
"So, sour cream or applesauce?" Steve asked.
"Oh, I like both," Eddie responded.
Steve turned back to him, disgusted.
"Not together, right?" He asked, already knowing the answer.
"Of course together."
"No more kissing. I take that one back. You're gross," Steve sighed. "Knew it was too good to be true."
"And they say I'm the dramatic one," Eddie rolled his eyes playfully, planting a kiss on Steve's cheek before gathering his things and leaving to set up the table.

Jeff has a theory.
Gareth agrees with the theory, though he's less confident about it, and Ian disagrees, though he's expressed that there's a chance Jeff may be right.
The theory is that Eddie fucking Munson has a boyfriend.
And Jeff has evidence.
EXHIBIT A: THE RING
Jeff notices that one of Eddie's rings is missing one day.
Granted, it's not the most concrete of evidence, because Eddie is Eddie, so Jeff assumes that he forgot it. Dropped it between his bed and his bedside table and just couldn't be assed to fish it out or to move his furniture. Maybe he was fidgeting with it in the car and dropped it to the ground and forgot about it by the time he got to Gareth's.
So he doesn't say anything.
But the next time he sees him, he isn't wearing it again.
So maybe he dropped it in a crack in a porch and couldn't reach it.
But if that were the case, Jeff feels like Eddie would have complained about it by now. Eddie once proclaimed that bitching is one of his favorite hobbies, along with getting stoned and sucking dick (at the same time or not, which he clarified after Ian questioned it), and the last time he misplaced a ring, he wouldn't shut up about it for three days until Wayne found it in the laundry basket. But maybe Eddie is just maturing. (Hah.)
They're in Jeff's living room, bantering and fucking around, the music from Jeff's record player low so they can hear each other, and as Eddie is watching Gareth and Ian bicker like he's watching a tennis match (not that he'd ever watch a tennis match), looking back and forth and back and forth, Jeff sees him reach for his ring finger, fingers poised to twist it around the way he usually does. The ring isn't there, obviously, and Eddie glances down like he's forgotten, and then a brief smile flashes across his face for a moment before he looks up and shouts that Ian is right, and Gareth, shut the fuck up.
And Jeff wonders.
EXHIBIT B: THE BASKETBALL
Eddie and Wayne live in a new apartment in town. (New being relative. It's a little run-down, with creaky floors and squeaky doors, but it's new to them.) Eddie's room is smaller than it was in the trailer, but Wayne has his own room in the apartment now, with an actual bed instead of a pull-out sofa.
Eddie's room is practically the same. Messy and covered in posters and tapestries and cut-out photos from magazines. His desk is covered in D&D pamphlets and character sheets, messy sketches of characters that he started and forgot about, uncapped pens and markers that must be dry by now. There are clothes covering the floor, hiding the fuzzy rug, and the blankets of his bed are always cast aside, almost falling off the bed because apparently Eddie throws them aside in the morning (or afternoon, depending on the day).
Eddie is searching for the weed he was supposed to bring to Ian's, and Jeff is waiting, leaning against the doorframe, watching as he rummages through some drawers.
"I swear I have it."
"I believe you," Jeff says dryly. "There's gotta be weed in here somewhere." Eddie shoots him a look, sticking out his tongue. He keeps rambling, I thought I fucking put it in here, I don't know how I get all these drawers confused, there aren't even that many, Jesus Christ, and Jeff looks around the room. There's a new poster of Bowie on the wall near his window. Jeff eyes it. It's not really Eddie's style, but Jeff's heard Eddie talk about how hot he is.
He looks at his blankets as Eddie rummages through another drawer. His bed wasn't raised when they were in the trailer, but he has a new bedframe, and now he has boxes and bags and a pizza box and... Is that a basketball?
Jeff looks at Eddie, who has his back to him, groaning as he tosses things aside onto the floor, and he steps to the side, tilting his head to see the orange ball that's partially hidden by a striped blanket that's falling off the bed. Jeff raises an eyebrow.
Eddie Munson has never voluntarily played a sport in his life. Jeff knows it. Gareth and Ian know it. The queen of England knows it. There is no reason for there to be a basketball in his bedroom. Unless it's someone else's. Someone he hasn't mentioned to them.
"Got it!"
Eddie stands, holding up the baggie triumphantly, grinning as he turns to Jeff.
"You really to stop losing illicit substances."
"'S fine," Eddie says, swaying to turn off the light. Jeff glances at the basketball one more time before following him out of the room.
"You're gonna get in trouble one of these days."
"Nah," Eddie says easily, still grinning, and he turns to face Jeff, walking backwards and spreading his arms like a challenge. "I'm immune, baby."
Jeff rolls his eyes, fighting a smile.
"What have I said about calling me baby?"
"Oh my god, it's a general term, I'm not calling you baby, it's just--"
EXHIBIT C: THE EXCUSES
"I forgot I need to help Wayne sort out some boxes before he leaves for work," Eddie says, swinging his guitar over his back. He's still a little out of breath, his hair falling from where it's tied up, exposing the scar around his neck. He won't talk about it. They don't ask. "I'll see you guys later."
"You guys aren't done unpacking?" Gareth asks before he guzzles some water.
"You know Wayne," Eddie says. "He'd put off unpacking for five more years if I didn't volunteer to help."
He's cheerful, going around and smacking loud kisses to their cheeks. Ian grins when he gets to him. He's always liked the affection that Eddie gives out so freely.
"Have you noticed he's been doing that a lot lately?" Ian asks as Eddie's van is pulling out of Gareth's driveway. Eddie rolls his window down and flips them the bird. They do it back. He cackles.
"God, yes," Jeff says, grateful he's not the only one.
"Doing what?" Gareth asks.
"'I have to help Wayne unpack,'" Ian repeats. "'I said I'd help old man Cooper fix his A/C. Henderson needs a ride to an appointment. Little Sinclair is going to the salon and her mom can't take her.'"
Gareth stares at him.
"How can you remember that all word for word but you don't remember when my birthday is?"
"...July--"
"No."
"Fuck. I don't know, my brain's weird. Anyway, he's been doing it a lot lately."
"Yeah," Jeff says, smiling after watching the interaction. (Gareth's birthday is in June.) "I mean, it's not like it's every time we hang out, so I'm not, like, offended or anything, but it's more often than he used to."
Gareth pauses as he spins his drumsticks, holding the door open for them to go inside.
"Do you think it has to do with... everything?"
Everything is code for Eddie going missing and being framed for three murders.
"I don't know," Jeff sighs, swinging open the fridge and finding a bottle of soda before he passes it to Ian. "He seems to have actual stuff to do, like with Erica and Dustin, but if he is lying, I mean... He's gotta have a reason to, right?"
Ian cracks open the soda, leaning against the counter.
"And if it has to do with everything, then, like... I don't know. I don't wanna, like. Pry."
"Yeah," Gareth says.
Jeff agrees. Eddie's been keeping quiet about the whole thing ever since he got discharged from the hospital. He's lost his memory, doesn't remember a lot of what happened, but they've seen him get lost in space, seen him breathe so shallowly it barely looks like he's breathing at all. These episodes (Jeff doesn't know what else to call them) sometimes last a few minutes. The first one was after they played Master of Puppets together for the first time. Eddie had learned it himself on guitar, but when they played it all together in Gareth's garage, he played for about fifteen seconds before he stopped abruptly, his eyes wide and trained on some spot on the ground. It scared the shit out of all of them.
He snapped out of it after a minute, blinking and startling and looking around at them gathered around them, and he was suddenly pale and shivering and holding his side like he had a cramp from running, and when they worriedly asked what happened, he just said in a rough voice I don't really like that song. He left after Jeff forced a bottle of water into his hands.
He's covered in scars. He has a skin graft on his chest, and when they asked about it, about what the fuck is going on? he just shrugged and said, "You know how much I paid for that zombie head?" in reference to the tattoo that's mostly covered in scar tissue now.
He doesn't want to tell. So they don't ask.
"Do you guys think..." Jeff hesitates, sipping his own soda, hopping up on the counter next to where Ian is leaning. "Do you guys think he might be seeing someone?"
They blink at him.
"Why the fuck would we think he might be seeing someone?" Ian asks, almost smiling.
"He..." Jeff hesitates again, realising how dumb the ring and basketball seem. Eddie loses shit. Maybe he forgot. Lucas plays basketball, and Jeff knows he and Eddie are pretty close now. Maybe he just convinced Eddie to help him practice. "I don't know."
But Gareth is nodding, staring at the ground, frowning.
"No, I can see that."
"You can?" Ian says.
"I mean, he's probably not, but it kinda makes sense. He's been ditching more lately, he's all smiley all the time. Et cetera."
"I don't know," Ian says, grimacing, but Jeff nods.
"He's smiling so much," he says, pointing at Gareth with his bottle. "Especially, like, in the past few weeks."
"Right?"
"Maybe he's just recovering," Ian says.
Oh.
Gareth and Jeff look at each other, wincing.
"Maybe."
"Maybe."
EXHIBIT D: THE HUMMING
Jeff leans back in his desk chair, lifting his legs up onto his desk, pulling his comic book closer to his face. He should probably get his eyes checked.
Eddie is laying upside down on Jeff's bed, his head hanging off as he draws in a notebook. (Jeff's never understood how he does it; his head hanging off the edge of the bed, holding up a notebook in front of his face, drawing without a care in the world.) It's quiet.
Jeff flips the page of his comic book, careful not to bend the pages, but as he's looking at the first panel, he hears the distinct, low rumble of Eddie's voice. He looks up, thinking for a split second that Eddie is speaking to him, but he's just humming. He does that a lot. He doesn't even notice himself doing it.
Jeff looks back at the comic book, listening, but he pauses again, looking up at the wall in front of himself as he furrows his brows, listening closer until he recognizes the song. He doesn't know the name of it, but he's pretty sure it's by Tears for Fears.
Tears for fucking fears.
Jeff looks at Eddie, who's still drawing, the notebook wavering as he looks at it, and after another minute, he moves, rolling over and shifting to lay on his stomach, setting the notebook down in front of himself. His brows are furrowed in focus, lips pouting a little bit, but he doesn't stop humming, and Jeff narrows his eyes.
He doesn't know anyone that listens to Tears for Fears. Maybe Dustin, but Eddie would probably, definitely tell him to shut it off because he has a musical superiority complex. (Jeff has no idea what Lucas listens to, and Mike probably listens to the same stuff as Eddie. Ian and Gareth both like rock and metal, and Erica probably listens to Cyndi Lauper or something.)
But here Eddie is, about a minute into a Tears for Fears song that Jeff can't even name, humming softly, happily to himself.
And Jeff wonders who the fuck Eddie is allowing to listen to, is tolerating listening to, Tears for Fears in Eddie's presence. And often enough that Eddie apparently knows the words.
It happens again the next week while they're all at Gareth's house, sitting in the kitchen and helping Gareth's mom make dinner. Jeff is peeling carrots, passing them to Eddie to chop, and Mrs Emerson's radio is playing, sitting on the windowsill. It's just on some Top 40s type station, which Eddie tolerates for Mrs Emerson because she tolerates their band practice in her garage.
The song fades out and there's a moment of quiet static, accompanied by Eddie's knife on the cutting board, the smooth sounds of the peeler, the clinking of the dishes that Gareth is putting away, the clicking of the stove turning on as Ian follows Mrs Emerson's directions. The next song starts, and Jeff passes the naked carrot to Eddie, pushing the peels to the side where he's collecting them to give to Gareth's dog.
He pauses the peeling when he hears Eddie's low hum, under his breath, and he stares at the carrot, listening before he slowly turns to look at him. He's just chopping the carrots, as easily as he always does, scooping them onto the knife and pouring them into the salad bowl next to him, humming and humming.
His voice is lower than the singer's voice, and it harmonizes nicely, but Jeff doesn't know what to think.
He glances over his shoulder across the kitchen, catching Ian's eye as he's mixing something in a bowl, also frozen and staring at Eddie.
Toto? Ian mouths at Jeff, looking more confused than he's ever looked, and Jeff shrugs, wide-eyed. Gareth leans up next to Ian, staring at Eddie's back intently before he looks at Jeff and mouths What the fuck?
Jeff shrugs again.
They don't say anything.
Eddie never notices that he's humming.
Jeff can't stop thinking about it, about what kind of person Eddie would listen to pop music for. He has a boyfriend. There's no way it can be anyone else.
EXHIBIT E: THE SONG LYRICS
Eddie is the main songwriter of the band. They all trust him with it all, and add their own bits and pieces when they play all together, like a drum solo for Gareth, and his lyrics changed a bit when he came back after everything.
His words were more intense, less literal. One lyric sings about the sky turning red, and the silhouettes of monsters. One song was called Batshit, about demon bats with steak knife tails. One sings about a girl with curly hair and a sawed-off shotgun, and another girl with vodka bottles and a lighter.
Save the world, save my life, Get your guns, I'll get my knife. Cut the shit, ignore the scythe And blow that shit to pieces
He sings about carnivorous flowers and flickering lights, about floating girls and broken bones, about blood-stained ceilings and sneakers and a bottomless lake.
Oh, it's a nightmare I'm living God, the world's flipped inside out There's spiders in my veins I feed them coffee and self-doubt
And then after a while, the vibes shift. He still sings about it all, about the fantasy, nightmarish world that comes up time and time again, but then he shows up with lyrics about a boy.
A boy. No one by name, or by description, almost just the idea of a boy rather than an actual one. When they ask who the lyrics are about, he gives them a Who knows? shrug, and Jeff's suspicions might as well be confirmed.
Some are sexual, very Eddie-esque, about lungs filled with smoke and mouths filled with cock, about the taste of sin on his tongue and hair tangled in rings. About being roughed up and cuffed up, the bite of metal around wrists, about being watched and known. Something about if they knew what we knew, they wouldn't care at all.
Others are sweeter, which just confirms Jeff's suspicions even more. Some sing about soft hair and sparkly eyes, about going stargazing by staring at his skin.
Kiss me 'til I'm flushed all red I wanna be your favorite color, baby
Eddie smiles while they go through the lyrics all together, his cheeks pink, but they still don't say anything.
EXHIBIT F: THE HICKEY
"Afternoon, fellas," Eddie says brightly, hopping into the room, dropping his bag on the ground next to where Ian is sitting and headbutting him affectionately. Ian beams. "How we doing?"
They talk as he gets sorted, finding his place on Gareth's bed between Ian and Gareth, laying on his back so his head is hanging over the edge, upside down, his hair falling. It almost touches the ground. He laughs at something Gareth says, but Jeff doesn't hear it, because from where he's sitting he has the perfect view of Eddie's neck.
Hence he has the perfect view of the purplish-red bruise above the collar of his t-shirt, and Jeff finally can't stop himself.
"Eddie."
"Hm?"
He turns his head to look at him, and the second their eyes meet, Jeff knows he knows. Eddie's eyes widen, and he slowly reaches to his shirt collar, pulling it up (down?) so it covers the bruise.
"Is there something you want to share with us?"
"...No?"
"What's going on?" Gareth asks, watching them.
"Eddie has a hickey."
"Jeff!"
"You wore a loose t-shirt, did you think we weren't gonna see it?"
Eddie just groans obnoxiously, throwing his arms up to cover his face, and Jeff grins when he sees how red he is. Ian laughs, reaching out to poke at his legs, ignoring the way Eddie is kicking at him.
"Eddie-e-e," Gareth sings. "Who is it?"
"It's no one, fuck off."
"Edmund. Edward. Eduardo."
"Oh my god."
He pushes himself to sit up, avoiding their eyes, and he sits at the edge of the bed, turning a little to make sure Jeff can see him too.
"Okay," he says, huffing. "I..."
"Who is it?" Gareth prompts. Jeff is beaming. He loves being right.
"I can't... I can't give you a name, he's not... out." Eddie's looking down at his lap.
"Okay," Gareth says, still waiting. "Is he your boyfriend?"
"...Yeah."
"Is he the reason you listen to Toto and shit now?" Jeff says, and Eddie looks up at him, his hair flying.
"I don't listen to Toto and shit," he says defensively. "He listens to Toto and shit and I allow it because I love him--"
Ian and Gareth let out identical shouts, and Jeff's eyes and grin widen. Eddie turns redder, rolling his eyes to the ceiling and covering his face.
"You love him?" Gareth says loudly, reaching out to rustle his hair. "Love?"
"Shut up," Eddie groans, but he's starting to smile under his hands as they all laugh.
"Why?" Ian asks.
"Why do I love him?"
"Yeah."
Eddie sighs heavily, rolling over the edge of the bed and falling to the ground with a heavy thud that makes them laugh again. He lies on his back, laying starfished on the ground and looking at the ceiling, eyes wide and dreamy.
"He's just... He's so great. He's beautiful. Fucking gorgeous. And funny as hell, even though he doesn't even try to be. And he's... kind. Like really, genuinely kind, and-- and selfless. He loves his friends, he'd do anything for them." He pauses, his smile faltering for a moment, tilting his head. "He makes me feel safe."
They're all quiet. Eddie hasn't gushed about any of his crushes in ages, not since Steve Harrington graduated. (And, God, wasn't that a time. Eddie was bitter about it, about how much he liked him, but every time someone brought him up, Eddie would turn into a blushing, smiling mess. Embarrassing.)
"Was he involved in everything?" Ian asks softly, and Eddie swallows, blinking at the ceiling, his face going a little blank. That happens every time it comes up. Everything. He'll zone out or look distant, and his voice will become a little empty in a way that makes Jeff feel sick.
"Yeah," Eddie says, blinking again. He takes a deep breath, and he looks like he's trying to stay there, in his body. "He's... He's the reason I'm alive."
They're quiet.
"Shit," Gareth says succinctly.
"Yeah."
"He's good to you?" Jeff asks.
Eddie sighs, smiling again.
"He's so good to me. He listens to me talk nonstop about D&D and shit even though he doesn't know anything about it, and he asks me questions, and he shows me stuff that he likes and he always looks so excited that I just... Like. Can't help but like it too."
"Is the basketball his?"
Eddie lifts his head, squinting at him.
"You saw that?"
"Yeah."
"Yeah, it's his."
"Did you give him your ring?"
"Jesus, are you a fucking detective?"
Jeff grins. Eddie lays his head back down.
"Yeah, I gave it to him."
"Wait," Gareth says, leaning over the edge of the bed, looking at Eddie. "I didn't see the hickey, lemme see."
"Absolutely not."
"Lemme see-e-e..."
----------------------------------------------------------
It's Friday night at the Hideout. They've been getting bigger crowds since Eddie's charges were dropped, metalheads and weirdos coming from across the state to see Eddie Munson live on stage, with his wild hair and scarred neck.
They're nearing the end of their setlist, pausing to drink water, grinning and laughing across the stage. Eddie is having a blast. He hasn't stopped beaming, even as he sings about hell and a house on fire. Jeff wonders if his face is sore from smiling.
The next song is called Midas. Jeff assumes it's about Eddie's boyfriend. It's heavy, bold and screamy. It makes Eddie's voice rough, but he doesn't seem to care at all.
Would you let me kneel at your feet and press my lips to your ring? Would it bring you a spark of joy? Will your smile make the clouds sing?
Jeff looks into the crowd, squinting in the blinding fluorescent lights, and he feels fucking alive here, like the music is coursing through his veins, like every shout from the crowd is rejuvenating him. His eyes scan the front row, looking at the girls with dark makeup and the boys will long hair, at the leather jackets and denim vests and pins that flash under the lights and-- Is that Steve fucking Harrington?
Jeff almost falters, but he looks away from the boy, keeps playing, pretends he isn't there, but he can't help but look back by the next verse, his propped up as he plays. It sure looks like Harrington, complete with the floppy hair, but there's no way Steve Harrington is in the front row of a metal show, wearing a battle vest and smiling. The lights are flashing, running over the crowd like water, and Jeff can't see clearly, and it can't be.
My man with his holy touch Won't you turn my heart to gold? Press your hands into my chest My heart is yours to hold
Eddie's voice is breaking, and Jeff glances at him, curious if he's seen the Steve look-alike in the front row, the Steve look-alike that seems to be beaming up at him, wide-eyed, but Eddie's eyes are squeezed shut as he sings and strums his guitar.
Take my hand baby, make me yours My beautiful king Midas They'll tell us gold's a sin, but They can't stop what's inside us
Jeff's ears are ringing when it's all over, when they get off the stage to talk with some people. (It feels weird to call them fans. They aren't fans, Corroded Coffin isn't big enough to have fans.) Some people that work at the Hideout are moving the equipment, taking the drums and guitars and amps, and Jeff is sitting at the edge of the stage, talking with a girl that sat toward the back of the bar. She's holding a beer bottle, and she has a beautiful smile, but even as she talks to him, he can't help but realise that Eddie is nowhere in sight.
So he excuses himself politely, slipping past her and finding his way backstage, looking around until he opens a door, and Eddie has his back to the wall, holding a boy against himself. A boy with bare, scar-covered arms, wearing a denim vest, with floppy brown hair that's twisted around Eddie's fingers as Eddie groans loudly because the boy is slipping a leg between Eddie's, and it's nearly filthy, the sounds they're making, because they're licking into each other's mouths, groaning and whining and murmuring and Jeff can't look away.
"Fuck, Stevie," Eddie chokes as the boy buries his face in Eddie's neck, and--
"Oh my god."
Eddie and Steve part with startled shouts, detaching and stumbling as they both flush red and look at Jeff with wide eyes.
"Jeff, why?" Eddie says loudly, breathing hard.
"Uh." He blinks. "You're the one making out in a public place."
"Oh, Jesus." Eddie bends over, taking a deep breath, groaning. Steve is staring at Jeff, wide-eyed and terrified, and Jeff takes a moment to take him in. He's wearing eyeliner, smudged and dark around his eyes (sparkly eyes), and his hair is touselled, longer than it was in high school. He's wearing a black shirt under the battle best, and oh, that's Eddie's vest. His jeans are light blue and fitted, and his hands are shaking, and he has the same scar around his neck that Eddie has. Jeff's body is consumed with curiosity and confusion, but it doesn't matter, because Steve is shaking, and Eddie is taking his hand, squeezing.
"Jeff, can you keep your mouth shut about this?" Eddie asks, his eyes imploring, begging, and Jeff nods.
"I saw nothing," he says. "I don't even know where I am, I was just trying to find the bathroom."
Steve cracks a smile, and he's totally Eddie's type.
"Oh," Jeff says, blinking. "King Midas."
Steve's cheeks flush with color again, and Jeff says, "Oh, right, sorry," before he turns on his heal and walks out.
"Where'd you go?" Ian asks when he gets out to Eddie's van.
"Bathroom."
"Where's Eddie?"
"No idea, I couldn't find him. Dumbass probably got lost."
He's always been good at lying.
Eddie comes out after another ten minutes, looking a little touseled but no more so than he does after most gigs. He apologizes, and jokes that he got lost, and Gareth and Ian laugh. Eddie hops in the front seat, asks if they want to go to his place for drinks, and they all say yes. As they're headed to his apartment, crossing the parking lot, Eddie lingers back and speaks quietly to Jeff.
"He's, uhm. Gonna meet us at my place."
"I thought you guys were keeping this quiet."
"We are, mostly, he just... His best friend knows about us. And you know--"
"Sorry about that, by the way."
"No, it's..." Eddie shakes his head. "Not your fault, we were fully making out in a public place, we just, uhm."
"Were worked up," Jeff finished for him, and in the light of the streetlights above them, Eddie flushes red.
"...Yeah."
Jeff snickers and pokes at him.
"So he wants to... meet the guys?"
"Yeah. I talk about you a lot, so he said he trusts you guys if I do, and I do, so."
Jeff nods, smiling.
"He's pretty cool."
"He's a prep, Jeff, he's adorable."
"I cannot believe your type is normies."
"Shut up."
When Steve shows up, he lets himself in. He has a key.
"Hi."
Ian and Gareth both look up at him from where they're sitting on the sofa, glancing him up and down, recognizing him, questioning him, wondering.
"Hi?"
"So, uhm..." Eddie goes to stand next to Steve, his eyes shining at him like he's asking something silently, and Steve nods a little bit, taking a breath. "Ian, Gareth, Jeff. Steve." He gestures to all of them, and Steve waves awkwardly. Jeff sees Eddie's ring on his finger.
"Hi," Ian and Gareth say again. Jeff lifts his chin up at him, smiling when their eyes meet.
"Uh." Eddie pauses, gesturing to Steve again. "...Boyfriend."
Ian and Gareth both blink, and Jeff grins, watching the gears turn in their head.
"Oh," Ian says. "Cool."
Gareth stares for a second before,
"I cannot believe you got with your high school crush after high school."
Steve beams.
He ends up going to Eddie's room and coming back in Eddie's clothes, in a sweater and some sweatpants, and they sit on the floor together as the guys ask them questions. They skirt their way around some of them, without even glancing at each other to figure out what the other will say, It's like they're perfectly in tune with each other. Eddie plays with Steve's fingers while they all talk.
Jeff can tell that Ian and Gareth are also surprised but are keeping it under wraps. Surprised that King Steve is the boy Eddie was talking about when he described his boyfriend's kindness, selflessness, bravery, when he said He makes me feel safe, but even now it's obvious that it's true. Eddie leans up against him and holds his arm, gazes at him and kisses his shoulder for no reason. He's in love.
Jeff tells Eddie later all the clues he gave without meaning, and he realises the Bowie poster was a clue after hearing Steve humming Heroes. Oh well. He was still right.

hi, im loving your work and i'm not sure if this is like where your at cause it's just regular old eddie but i was wondering if you'd write something like reader and eddie are both really into each other but haven't said anything and she knows how into d&d he is so she makes on of his campaigns into a comic but shes been so busy she unintentionally pulls away and eddies worried she finally "woke up" and realized hes a freak. maybe something like she's from new york banished to her aunts in hawkins aunts cause she has to repeat senior year again and eddie immediately is like wow. but happy ending obviously, maybe some smut if the spirit moves you. i hope this isnt too specific i know your last request was more vague but i had the idea and thought it'd be cute, if your not into it though that's fine i figure it never hurts to ask right 😘
hi! thank you for requesting! there actually isn't smut in this one but if you'd like some you can request a part 2 kinda thing!

Eddie was the first friend you made here in Hawkins after being abandoned by your family. The sting of failing your senior year was enough, but the pain of your family being too embarrassed to house you anymore made it even worse. You had to watch all summer as all your other friends packed up for college while you were packing to be sent away. You were forced to go live with your aunt, which wasn’t the worst situation you could’ve ended in.
She’s nice to you, understanding. She doesn’t believe in traditional schooling, she says it’s ‘no wonder’ that you failed. She claims ‘You’re a special girl with the mind of an artist’ and ‘schools aren’t built for people like you two’. You love her, you just can’t stand some of her habits.
She lives a very hippie lifestyle. She forces you to walk to school, even on the first day, saying it was good for your mental health but all it did was make you incredibly sweaty for your first day. Although it ended up working out for the best.
You arrived panting and sweaty from your rush over. She hadn’t told you the night before that you’d be walking so you didn’t wake up early enough. You could not stand being late to first period, not wanting to deal with the entire class watching you find a seat. So you had to haul ass to school. You had planned out an incredibly cute outfit that was now ruffled, mussed, and damp with sweat. You wanted to cry as you sat down in the back left corner of the classroom, getting a nice view of the field beside the school, the trees and flowers that live there. You’re huffing and puffing, your breathing all out of order from you trying to regulate it as students pour in. You watched as the cliques formed themselves, having been established in the previous years. You took out a notebook and buried yourself in it, hoping no one would approach you.
The other students settled down and the teacher began her orientation. You aren’t listening as she speaks, watching the rain that's pattering gently on the classroom window. She was going on about the syllabus, informing you of the incredibly boring things you’d be learning in her class when he burst through. Opening the door with so much force that it slammed on the wall behind it, he was huffing and puffing, nearly soaked in rain with a bag loosely thrown over his shoulder. The thing about him that stuck with you though, was the blinding, dimpled, smile that was on his face. Despite being drenched, late, and the current center of attention, he had the largest smile you had seen all day. It was so genuine that you were smiling along with him without even realizing it.
“Mr. Munson. I see you’re in my class again…” She spat the words at him so venomously you expected to see his smile drop, falter at least but it widened instead.
“I am! Yes. I am! And I’d like to focus more on what that says about my… my determination, rather than what I may lack in this particular subject.” Again? Maybe he’s a repeat like me?
Something about the thought made you feel a bit fond of him.
“Mhm. That’s nice. Have a seat.” She continued to drone on as he looked around for a seat, his eyes widened at you, seeing you already smiling and staring at him. This snapped you out of your trance and you tried desperately to avoid his gaze, pretending like you hadn’t been watching him since he came in.
He decided to sit next to you and you guys hit it off instantly, later finding that you had almost every class together. You felt so lucky, he was so, so kind. He spent your first two periods and lunch together. He introduced you to his friends, let you know the special ins and outs of the school, and even offered you a ride when he found out your aunt was leaving you hanging. He told you that you’d have to wait with him after school because apparently, he ran a club called “Hellfire”.
Honestly, in the period after lunch, without him, you questioned if this was the kind of person you should align yourself with. In the next period, with him, when you walked in the door he waved you over and moved the backpack that was on the desk next to him. “Hey! I saved you a seat.” He had that shining, dimpled, smile again and you decided it didn’t matter what kind of person he was. He was kind to you and that’s what mattered.
You learned a lot about him and you feel like that’s when you started falling in love with him.
He told you about his struggles with his family, and why he lived with his uncle. He told you about his childhood and got a little teary-eyed, although he still kept his butterfly-inducing smile.
He told you about his struggles with this town and warned you that you may be subject to ridicule by befriending him. That was the only time his smile fully dropped, he got this kicked puppy look in his eyes as he lied to you, telling you that ‘he’d understand.’ or that ‘you don’t need to feel bad’. You told him you’re not afraid of some small-town hicks.
He apologized to you at the end of the class, saying it must’ve been awkward to listen to him blubber about his life all class but you, stars in your eyes and in love, adamantly assured him that you didn’t mind.
You ended up loving his club, the planning, the theatrics, and the suspense, were unbelievable. You were engaged the whole time, obsessed with how Eddie told his story, and invested in the team and their survival. You told Eddie about how cool you thought it was the whole ride home. By the end of the ride, you were apologizing profusely for how much you had talked about it but he, red in the face and flustered, adamantly assured you that he didn’t mind.
You guys have been almost inseparable since. It’s been about seven months here at Hawkins now and your little crush has snowballed into a bit of a colossal crush on Eddie. Nowadays, your Hellfire visits are filled with you just watching him. You don’t pay attention to the plot, to how the characters are doing, or anything… just him.
It’s getting a bit embarrassing in fact, because you’ll have fewer things to say on the ride to your house than you usually do and he’s begun to question it, asking if you thought he needed to work on anything and not believing you when you say that ‘he doesn’t need to change anything’ or that ‘it was so perfect you have no notes.’
A secondary reason you’ve started staring at him more is because you’ve been working on something for him; a way for you to confess how you feel about him in a way that you hope he’d like. You’re completely unsure of how he may feel about you. You’ve noticed a few things… the way he’ll save a seat and always give it to you, no matter who arrived before you, how he seemed to be somewhat softer with you than he is with everyone else, but you chalked it up to hopeful thinking.
You were trying to make a comic of the first time he invited you to Hellfire. You can remember it almost perfectly and for anything you don’t remember you can just refer to your journal. You’d written all about it after you got home.
You’ve been spending most of your time in the art room now, trying your absolute best to make it the most professional-looking, homemade comic anyone had ever seen. You think about the smile that Eddie would wear, even if he didn’t reciprocate your feelings, you at least hope he appreciates the art.
You’ve gathered help from a lot of unsuspecting people. You found out that quite a few girls on the cheerleading team are a great help when it comes to designing the outfits. They’ve started to meet you in the art room at lunch to help with the comic, slightly invested in the plot even though you’ve explained multiple times that it’s technically Eddie’s plot. They’ve also become quite interested in your love life, knowing that it’s for Eddie. They actually root for the two of you, they were all much nicer than you expected them to be.
You’ve started to miss a few club meetings as well. To be fair though, you aren’t technically part of the club. Eddie explained that since you don’t play you’re technically just a consistent bystander. It had hurt your feelings at first, feeling left out of the group but now it’s just convenient. You don’t have to tell Eddie in advance that you aren’t going and you don’t need to tell him why. You always go to the art room instead to work on your comic. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the cheerleaders join you after practice to help you work some more. You started to fall behind in school work, not paying attention to anyone or anything in class in favor of working on your comic instead. This little picture book has consumed your entire life for a few weeks. Unbeknownst to you, Eddie was suffering the whole time.
He noticed it when it first started. At lunch one day, instead of eating and engaging in the conversation you kept opening your notebook and doodling little things he couldn’t see. He kept having to get your attention and re-explain everything that was happening whenever he tried to include you in the conversation. Eventually, you just told him, with a soft laugh, that you’re not listening. You giggled and went back to your doodling, not even realizing that what they had been talking about, was the idea of you joining Hellfire officially, even if you don’t play. Your disinterest almost broke Eddie’s heart, it hurt a lot actually but he reasoned with himself.
Maybe she just doesn’t want all the heat, and bullying that comes with being a part of Hellfire. She’s soft, she just doesn’t want to say that right now, in front of the whole table. She’s so cute… She’ll tell me why, later.
You never did. You never explained to him why you cared so little about being in a club he cared so much about.
You began to pull away more and more after that. He would plan campaigns with you in mind, creating twists and turns he knows you’d love, imagining the look on your face and the excitement in your voice when you’d tell him about it on the ride home. However, you started telling him you couldn’t make it to Hellfire. You never gave him an explanation and he never asked for one, you guys are just friends… he has no right.
A little piece of his heart would chip away every time you canceled on him, breaking even more whenever he had to receive pitiful stares from everyone else when they noticed characters in the campaign that were so obviously you-coded. The confused looks from every member whenever they asked where you were, only to be met with a sad shrug, became a bit too much for him. He was still giving you a ride home, you’d arrive at the end of Hellfire with a shy smile on your face for it every day so you had to be staying somewhere at school. He was determined to find you.
He ended Hellfire early one day and set on his quest to find you. He knows you love to read so the library was the first place he checked, only to find the doors locked. His next stop was the art room, stopping to peep inside the cafeteria on his way over and shaking his head sadly when you weren’t there. At this point, he’s sure that you’re in the art room, but what confuses him is that he can hear girly, popular, giggling coming from the very room that you must be in. He rushes over in a half-sprint, thinking that some girls were picking on you but when he gets to the door he can see you laughing along with them as you doodle on something.
“I mean he’s… cute..” Chrissy Cunningham says to Eddie’s intense confusion. Who are they talking about..? What is she doing with Chrissy Cunningham? The other cheerleaders burst into a smaller fit of laughter at her words.
“I think he’s cute!” You say and Eddie’s heart sinks at your words. Who? He waits there for a while but you guys never give specifics. He watches the cheerleaders giggle and tease you about your mystery crush. He only witnesses the way you fiddle with your pencil with the biggest smile he’s seen all day splitting your face. It hurts him to see you so happy over someone else, he watches you as a dark, numb, pain spreads inside his chest before walking away with tears in his eyes. His hands were in his pockets, shoulders hunched defeatedly as he heard you girls cheering behind him.
When you came for your ride he wasn’t in the Hellfire classroom waiting for you, instead, he was leaning on his van smoking. He never smoked around you, not cigs at least. You had explained your many bad memories with men who smoked and how it caused you to just despise the smell, that it even caused you a bit of anxiety before you even knew that he smoked.
Out of kindness, Eddie just avoided smoking around you all together, but right now he was stressed, hurt, and on the verge of a breakdown and a cigarette was the only thing that could keep him from that.
He didn’t care too much if you minded, you’d already decided you didn’t want to be around him anymore, choosing to hang out with the cheerleaders instead, letting them coax you over to the dark side from right under his nose. He should’ve held onto you tighter, he should’ve known they’d try and snatch you. You were so beautiful, and you’d be so popular under their watch but they’d also corrupt you, turn you into them, murdering the sweet, caring, and loving girl you were. The thought broke his heart, hence the cigarette in between his fingers when you approached him for your ride.
“Hey, Eddie! I was starting to think you left me!” You say with an adorable giggle that he wishes he could smile at. He blows smoke up into the air, avoiding your face, and puts it out.
“Yeah. I was actually thinking the exact same thing.” He says with a humorless laugh that shocks you. You’re about to ask him if he’s okay when he gets in and starts the van. You rushed over to your side to get in before he drove off in silence. This is when you’d ask him about Hellfire and he’d give you the outline of what happened, but this time when you ask, he responds with “Same old, same old.”
You never thought you craved his voice as much as you do now. The drive is longer, some strange traffic blocking the way and the silence in the van gets to be too much for you.
Forget about wrapping.
“Eddie?” He hums at you, letting you know he heard you but doesn't turn to look at you. His eyes stay on the packed, unmoving road. “I- I made you something.”
His head turns to you so fast you can almost hear it crack. “You made me something?” The shock in his voice is surprising. It’s like he never, ever, had even considered that with all your artistic talent, you’d want to make him something. You have all of his attention now.
“Yeah…” You reach into your bag and pull it out gently while Eddie gets off the road, pulling into a parking lot. “I- Well, I was going to wrap it but I’ll just give it to you now. I- I hope you like it…”
He’s smiling at you as you rummage through your backpack gently for whatever you have for him. He tried not to get too excited but he couldn’t help himself…
“I’ll love it, sweetheart.” His heart is swelling at the idea of receiving a gift from you. That means at some point, somewhere you had seen something and thought of him, you thought of him so much that you just had to buy that item and you planned on gift wrapping it for him.
Maybe it's a goodbye present. Fuck- be cool.
Eddie tried to shove his thoughts to the back of his head, his heart was pounding as you pulled it out of your bag. It was a little book… A comic book? “Oh! What comic is this?”
He grabs it from your hand to read the cover and sees “The Brave, Bold, and Indomitable, Eddie the Banished VOL. 1” He reads it over again and again, believing that his eyes are playing tricks on him before slowly turning to look at you. You had a sweet, shy, and scared smile on your face as you awaited his reaction. “No fucking way.” His voice is a low, stunned, whisper as your smile spreads and he quickly flips through the little book.
He opened the first page and felt like he couldn’t breathe, the art inside was breathtaking. “No fucking way.” He examined a character that was definitely him, running his fingers over the pages in awe.
“Yeah, t-that’s you.” You scoot closer to him and lean over the center console to point him out on the page. “Here’s the rest of the party.” You point out more details to him, explaining why you picked some of the outfits you did, and why you chose certain trees and times of day but Eddie isn’t paying very much attention. He’s not even looking at the book anymore, he’s just watching you. You’re explaining every aspect of the page to him as he inspects every aspect of your face. Until you abruptly stop and he watches embarrassment creep into your features. His eyes flicker back to the page as you take your finger away from where you were pointing and he notices a little person in the corner of the page, almost hidden in the bushes as the party makes their way through a forest.
“What-” He recognizes it on further analysis. “Is that you?” He asks with a chuckle of disbelief as he pulls the page closer to his eyes, admiring your little character. “Why are you in the bushes, sweetheart?”
You’re stumbling over your words at the pet name. Eddie has used it twice in this car ride alone and you’re struggling not to lose your mind. “U- Um well… I’m- I’m just a bystander so… so I’m just by-standing.” You end the sentence with a sad giggle and your eyes shift to your fidgeting hands in your lap. Eddie’s smile falters at it and the memory of him inviting you to be more than.
“Yeah. I mean- not for lack of trying y’know? I guess you’d rather be a cheerleader.” He tried to keep his tone light and jovial as he turned the page, now looking for you in every bush. He’s chuckling at your drawings as you’re overcome with confusion. “Eddie. What are you talking about?”
He doesn't look up from the book. “C’mon, love. We offered you a membership without gameplay and you just-” He takes a deep breath as he feels a small lump form at the base of his throat. “You couldn’t have been less interested.” He’s giving you that humorless laugh again as he flips the page. You’re searching your brain, racking your memories, trying to remember when this happened but coming up blank.
“Eddie, I don’t remember that happening.” He sighs, shuts the book, and shoves it under his thigh before starting the van back up, sad anger bubbling in his chest.
“Listen, I get it. Y’know, you wanna be popular. I understand the pull, sweetheart. I don’t blame you at all.” You’ve never felt more confused as Eddie pulled out of the parking lot. Your silence makes him nervous, and nerves make his mouth run.
“I mean… When you got here- poor unsuspecting, you- didn’t believe that the first friend you made was-” He lifts his hands from the wheel for a moment to make air quotes. “The town freak.” He gives you that laugh again.
“I’m honestly surprised that it took you so long to leave us losers for the popular crowd!” His voice is still upbeat, and light, as though he wasn’t breaking your heart and insulting you to your core at the same time. “OH! I- I guess you just needed a ride, right? It’s alright, sweetpea.” He’s so frustrating, that fake smile plastered on his face as he pulls up to your house.
“Eddie.” Your voice is strained around the ball in your throat but still angry. “I don’t know what you’re talking about and I don’t even like what you’re saying so either explain or just stop talking.” He parks the van on your curb and stares at you silently. You take this as the ‘stop talking’ option. “Okay. Thanks for the ride…” You hop out of his van sadly and turn around. “I- I hope you like your comic, Eddie…” With that, you slam the door closed and rush to your front porch. Eddie waits to watch you enter the house before pulling out of your driveway, trying not to let his guilt override his anger.
On the whole drive home, Eddie is mulling over everything you said. Your seemingly genuine confusion over the invitation. He thinks over the original scene, you did say you weren’t listening. Eddie thought you meant it in the sense where you knew what the conversation was about but you wanted to stay out of it… but maybe you literally were not listening. Maybe you legitimately did not hear what they had said.
Eddie pulls into his driveway and opens the comic book, deciding he needs to read it before heading in. He didn’t realize how long he’d end up spending in his van, reading your comic but when he finally looked up from the pages, getting butterflies from your art and how vividly you remember his campaign, the sky was dark. He chuckled to himself and headed inside to get ready for bed.
Eddie flipped through the comic all night, noticing a pattern within your art. You were on every page that the Hellfire party was on, watching what he assumed was all of them. He was obsessed with your art, especially your character, and was psycho analyzing her when he noticed it. She was staring at his character. On every page the two of you were on, you were staring at him, your line of sight fixed on his character.
He felt as though he was losing his mind as he frantically flipped through every page. His heart raced as he watched your character watch him. He loved it, whether you did it on purpose or not, it was doing something to him. Heat rushed to his face as he put the book away and calmed himself down. He didn’t want to read too much into it but he couldn’t help the way his heart raced when he approached you about it the next day.
He wanted to work up to the subject, he wanted to pretend that it hadn’t consumed his every thought since he noticed but instead, he just blurted it out to you the moment he sat down.
“Why are you watching me?” His face goes red after the words shoot out, wishing he had taken more time to craft what he wanted to ask. He watches humored puzzlement bloom over your face as you giggle softly, giving him butterflies in his tummy.
“Eddie, you just got here. I was gonna say hi…” Your voice is timid, still careful after the little argument yesterday and fear begins to curl in Eddie’s stomach. He forgot he had been an asshole to you yesterday.
Maybe it’s a coincidence, maybe she was just drawing her “good side”. Why would she be staring at you, Munson? Get a grip, Jesus.
He tries to play it off. “I- I’m just sayin’ you could’ve waved or something.” He tries to sound upbeat, and cheerful, but he can’t get it to sound genuine. All night he’s been fantasizing about what it would be like if you actually liked him back. How he would give you hugs and kisses no matter where you were. He thought about how in love with you he’d be, it’d be pretty annoying to everyone else but he wouldn’t even care.
He knows you’d love it too, he’d give you everything he has, everything he had and ever will have.
He shouldn't have gotten so far ahead of himself.
He thought about how he would follow you to whatever college you wanted to go to- if you wanted to go. He would get a job nearby and you guys could rent an apartment together. He’d wait until you’ve graduated to ask you to marry him. He’d take you to your favorite spot, with all your favorite things, and propose to you in whatever way you’d want him to. He’d spare no expense on the ring- if that’s something you’d care about.
He’d start a mechanic shop with Wayne and they’d be so rich that you wouldn't even need to work if you didn’t want to. He thought about your kids, he’d hope that they look like you, they’d get far in the world being as beautiful as you are. He wants them to be like you too, good, sweet, and caring. He spent the night going over your whole lives together, his cheeks sore from how long he’d been smiling. But you don’t like him like that.
Eddie distantly hears the bell ring, not realizing he’d spent the whole class moping over the fact that you don’t like him. He looks around to see you’ve already left him. You usually wait with him, you like to chat on the way to the next class. Your absence has never felt so painful for him.
Once he’s gathered his things he heads to the next class where he sees your seat surrounded by cheerleaders, a small smile on your face as they seem to dote on you. He decides he doesn’t need to sit with you today, you have enough people to keep you company. He actively avoids looking at you for the duration of the class, rushing out once the bell rings.
He rushes to the bathroom, bumping into people and getting insults hurled his way in the process. He gets to his stall, with all his graffiti, and slumps against the wall to the floor. His mind is racing, his chest heaving as he tries to cope with losing you. She’s with them now I guess? But-
His memories flash back to all the times you guys hung out, just the two of you. He felt as though you were just a better, female version of him. You were an outcast but in the best- or worst- way possible. You were like a gem he had found in this pile of shit town, everyone else had overlooked you, not wanting to wash the shit off to see you shine, but he had. He didn’t care about the shit, he wanted to be there for you in the way no one was there for him when he arrived.
He thinks he fell in love with you the moment he found out you were also repeating your senior year, not for the third time like him but still. He thought it was cute how embarrassed you were about the fact that you were repeating, he loved the way he was able to help you be more comfortable and help you understand that it’s not your fault.
He felt like- He thought that he was something special to you, he hoped he was something special to you. He treats you like you’re something special to him because you are- or at least he thought he treated you like that.
Maybe he didn’t. Maybe he should’ve invited you to play in Hellfire more often, invited you over more, given you more of his lunch when your aunt forgot to give you money, and given you a better discount on his weed. Maybe he should’ve just been less of a freak.
Tears are gathering in his eyes as he angrily rubs at them, feeling pathetic. Crying over a girl in a bathroom stall. I really am a fucking loser.
He takes a few deep breaths before getting off the ground, leaving the bathroom, and heading to the cafeteria. He expects to see you at his table, and the butterflies in his stomach come back to life when he imagines the tone you’ll give him when you ask where he’s been like you always do when he’s late. He grabs lunch and sits down… you’re nowhere to be seen.
“Where’s your better half?” Gareth asks, gaining a laugh from the table. It just hurts Eddie more. He stays silent, pulling out his Walkman and letting music drown out every voice or thought in his head until he sees people getting up to leave.
“Hey, Ed.” Gareth is the only one who waited for him.
“I’m sorry if I was an ass earlier. I know you like her, I just- I thought you actually did know where she was.” Eddie feels his throat close up and almost rolls his eyes at himself.
“It’s fine, Gareth. She’s probably off with Chrissy Cunningham.” He says with a gruff, tense voice, ignoring the shock that plasters on Gareth’s face.
“Cunningham? What- How does she even know her?” Eddie shrugs and starts walking to his next class, Gareth following close behind. “She’s like what? Friends with them now? She’s gonna be a cheerleader or something?” Eddie feels his emotions building inside him, like an overfilled balloon and he’s about to pop.
He stops walking and turns to him. “I don't fucking know, Gareth.” Gareth’s gaze shifts from Eddie immediately. “I don’t know why she’s hanging out with them now. I don’t know why she doesn’t come to Hellfire or why she doesn’t talk to me on the ride to her house anymore. I don’t know!” Eddie is met with silence at the end of his rant. “Oh! I know.” His voice has dropped to a low, condescending, whisper.
“Maybe she got tired of being one of the freaks, hmm?” He rushes off to his next class and for the first time, he’s grateful that you’re not in it.
You’re in class and your thoughts could not be further from the material. You’re thinking about Eddie of course. The way he acted in the van yesterday, the way he acted in first period, and even second period. You noticed he came into lunch late and didn’t even speak to anyone when he did come in. He didn’t look at you, talk to you, or anything. It hurt.
You’re anxious, leg bouncing and chewing on your pen as you watch the clock. You need to see him, ask him what’s wrong.
Maybe he figured it out. Fear shoots through you. Maybe he figured out that I like him from the comic. I didn’t get to explain much but he’s smart enough to figure it out on his own. Is this his reaction to my liking him? No. It can’t be. Even if he didn’t like me back… I don’t think he’d treat me like this. I think he would let me down gently.
It’s a nice thought but it just leaves you back where you started. What is wrong with Eddie?
You’re ready to ask him. You got there first and pulled his desk a little closer to yours, hoping to have a full, meaningful conversation with him. He never shows.
This isn’t alarming to anyone but you, everyone scoffs when the teacher reads out Eddie’s name the second time. There are murmurs of “took him long enough” and “I’m so shocked” hurting you with their lack of care. You wait for attendance to finish before asking to go to the bathroom. You take your bag with you and no one questions it, knowing you as the ‘good girl’, not realizing you’re about to skip class for the first time.
You roam the school looking for Eddie. You check Hellfire’s room, the band room, even the art room but you can’t find him. You check places he wouldn’t be, the library, the computer lab, and even the abandoned school basement. Your heart is racing as you rush out to the parking lot, hoping at least his van is still here and that’s where you find him. Coughing on what you assume is cigarette smoke by his van.
“Eddie!” You shout his name without thinking and his head whips in your direction, shocked. A smile spreads on his face as you stomp toward him. Despite all the unknowing pain you’ve put him through today, the butterflies in his stomach are still alive for you.
“Eddie, what the fuck?” His smile falters but quickly returns as he goes to hand you the joint he’s smoking.
“You’re skipping!? You look like you need this more than I do.” You take the joint and inhale the most smoke you can without burning your lungs, Eddie looks impressed.
“I do need this more than you.” You speak as you exhale. Eddie is staring at the joint, waiting for you to pass it back but instead, you take another hit. “I need this more than you do because I’m not the one who is stressing you beyond oblivion! What is going on with you?” Eddie’s eyes are on the ground as he kicks the little rocks there.
“Eddie. You know you can talk to me, right? If anything is going on with Wayne or- or maybe something else? I don’t know I- I just- I can’t figure out why you’re acting so… different.”
He laughs. He fully laughs at you. His hand on his chest, leaning back and roaring his laughter into the air. “I’m acting different?” He snatches the joint from your hand. “I’m the one acting different, sweetheart? Miss ‘So sorry I can’t come to Hellfire today! No! I’m not going to explain!’, you’re telling me that I’m acting different?” He takes a drag
“You don’t care about my campaigns anymore, you never have time to come over, you never have time for me to come over, and now you- you don’t sit with me at- at lunch anymore?” His voice breaks at the end and he turns away to take a hit before you can see the tears in his eyes. “Don’t tell me that I’m stressing you out.” He scoffs and holds his hand out, passing you the joint.
It strikes something in you; Eddie still passing the joint back to you even though he’s upset. You take it from him with a small ‘thank you’ and take a hit before responding. “I was- It was the comic Eddie… I was working on the comic. It was harder than it looked I guess. I- I couldn’t get your hair right and-”
Eddie hasn’t reacted, he feels like he’s in shock, like his heart has stopped, he’s having a stroke, something. Your voice sounds far away as he’s buried in his thoughts.
I’m a dickhead. I’m an asshole. She was doing it for me and I’m- I was yelling at her for it. I’m a fucking asshole. She’s still talking to me so softly too. Fuck. Why isn’t she upset with me? Why isn't she yelling at me? Why aren’t I apologizing?
“I’m sorry!” His voice is the epitome of pitiful, he didn’t notice the knot that had made home in his throat or the tears that had been sitting on the ducts. Your eyes are wide and you almost drop the joint to hug him, knowing he gets emotional when he’s high.
“Why are you sorry? You don’t need to be sorry- what’s wrong?” His arms wrap around you, crushing you to his chest as he huffs out breaths into your hair. He’s trying to calm down, trying to not completely break down in front of you but he’s failing so far.
Fuck- fuck. Stop crying- what the fuck happened to you? Stop blubbering like a bitch- She’s she’s so soft- oh fuck she’s so warm. She’s so fucking sweet. I fucking love her. She’s- She’s so stupid.
“I do ne- need to be sorry what are you talking about?” He pulls away, leaving one hand on your shoulder as he runs his knuckles and the back of his arm along the bottom of his nose. “I was being an asshole- an asshole. When you were just tryna do something nice.” He’s breathing out shuddering breaths as he speaks.
She’s too sweet to me. She still has her arms around me- such a fucking sweetheart. I love her- I want her, I wanna tell her.
You don’t know what the fuck is going on. Eddie is a blubbery mess in front of you, holding you close as he tries to calm himself down. He’s gripping your shoulder so hard you feel like he may puncture your skin but you never want him to move it.
You should be focusing on the fact that he’s crying because he thinks he was mean to you but all you can think about is one thing.
His lips are wet and pink from his tears and his teeth.
You try to ignore it; the urge to kiss him. You try to think about how to comfort him but your arms are still around his waist, it would be so easy to just pull him in…
“Eddie. I don’t mind, I should’ve told you.” You separate from him and he gasps softly.
“I was actually spending so much time on it for a more selfish reason.” Your heart is racing but not as much as it was the last time you planned to confess.
How nice he is to you has to mean something, he gives you a ride home every day. That has to mean something. He gives you discounts on weed when you know he makes Gareth pay extra. How upset he is over possibly being mean to you. That has to mean something. The way he’s looking at you right now… That has to mean something.
“Eddie, I like you.” You shove the words out of your throat, leaving you breathless after they come out. “I- shit.” You looked at him. His face is blank. “I really like you, so much that if you don’t like me back I- I don’t care- We- we can just be friends. We can- I can pretend that this never happened… It’s okay.” You’re a little frantic as you get the words out, nervous at Eddie’s silence.
You risk a glance at his face and there are tears in his eyes again. “Can I kiss-” He inhales a gasp. “Can I kiss you?” His face is full of wonder like he’s genuinely in disbelief at what’s happening.
You want to cry. “Yes. Please.” You try not to sound too eager but you’re already taking a step toward him and your hands are reaching for him.
He’s all over you in an instant, whimpering into your mouth the moment your lips meet. His hands are covering both sides of your face, pulling you into him desperately. He’s twisted you up against his van, his hands moved to your waist to bring you impossibly closer. You pull away with a smile to breathe but Eddie whimpers and leans back into your lips.
You can’t help the giggle that comes out, breaking the kiss and causing Eddie to whine again. “I thought you wanted to kiss me? Kiss me.”
“Wait- I’m a-” Eddie pulls back to let you speak, although you can see he wishes he didn’t have to. “Eddie… You like me?” His eyes widen and his face turns red at the question.
“How is that even a question you’re asking me right now? I- of course, I like you. I can’t believe that you like me.” His voice is gentle as he speaks, tense like he’s waiting for you to change your mind about him. You shake your head with a smile and pull him back in, humming happily as his lips eagerly press into yours.
You guys left school then, Eddie drives you both to his place and you guys finish the joint on the way. His hand was on your thigh the whole time with that shining, dimpled smile, beaming at the road the entire ride. It was the best ride of your life, it had you thinking about your life with him.
How much you’d love him. How you’d give him hugs and kisses no matter where you guys were. You thought about how in love you are, it’d be pretty annoying to everyone else but you wouldn’t even care. You know he’d love it too, you’d give you everything you have, had, and ever will have.

“Hey Dusty!” You shout, standing from the couch in your family living room and extending your arms. His mouth drops as he gets a good look at you, running over and wrapping his arms around you after practically tackling you. You laugh as you secure yourself around your little brother.
It’d been a few months since you saw him, having gone back to college at Notre Dame for your sophomore year. It was now December and school was out for the holidays, so coming home and being able to spend it with your family was something you’d be looking forward to.
“How was school today? Ready to be out for the break?” You ask, pulling back from your embrace to look him in the eyes. His face was still shining bright, eyes twinkling with glee as he looked at you. You loved your relationship with your brother, being able to talk about nerdy things with him made you bond a few years back, and all the bullshit with the Upside Down brought you closer together as well.
“School was great! I do have to go back for my D&D meeting, so…any chance you can drive me?” He asks, his face contorting to an convincing grin, eyebrows raised and arms lifting. You flash him a smirk and grab his head, shaking him a bit as you nod.
“We can grab ice cream on the way too, if you’d like?” You suggest. He lets out a loud giggle as her grips the straps of his backpack tighter. You chuckle to yourself and grab your bag and the keys you set on the kitchen counter, walking towards the door as he jumps for joy.
The two of you exit the car with ice cream cones in hand, you locking the door before Dustin walks you inside your old stomping grounds. It felt odd being back here, especially with your younger brother who now attended the school. You push open the double doors and walk the empty halls, nudging your brother as you turn a corner.
“So do you just meet up with Mike and Lucas at school to play now, or are you part of an actual D&D club?” you question.
“It’s a club, actually. ’twas around when you were in high school actually, it’s called Hellfire. Ring any bells?” he reveals.
Ugh, Hellfire. You used to admire the group that would walk the halls and proudly displaying their matching shirts, even joining a few sessions back during your senior year. But now it left nothing but a bad memory. You toss your cone in the nearby trash can as your your brother unzips his winter coat and flashes you the Hellfire logo and shirt you used to see so often.
“I see they still have the same logo from two years ago,” you laugh, letting your brother open the doors to the drama room and walking in. “Who runs the club now anyways? When I was here, it was-“
“Hey Eddie!” Your brother exclaims, waving to the long haired man seated on the throne at the head of the table. You freeze in place as you look at him, your eyes locking on one another as your brother sets his stuff down and begins chatting with Mike. You feel your jaw open slightly, unable to believe the sight before you.
“Y/N? What are you doing here? Didn't think you wanted to be with us freaks anymore,” Eddie lets out, his tone coming out cold and a bit vicious. You swallow down the lump that formed in your throat the minute you saw him. Dustin’s eyes flicker between the two of you, his face crumpled in confusion, as is Mike’s.
“Dustin’s my little brother,” you manage to let out. He scoffs and looks to the other members, whom you recognized from his band. You look down to the floor, embarrassment creeping up your neck and spreading across your cheeks.
“You didn’t tell me Y/N here was the infamous sister you speak about all the time, Henderson,” Eddie says, flashing his eyes and Dustin whose face was still twisted in confusion.
“Yeah well, I didn’t know you two knew each other. How exactly? I mean I know you two went to school together, but you don’t exact peg me as the type to run in the same circles,” your brother questions. You look back to Eddie who sits back in the throne, staring at you with an amused grin, throwing his hands towards you, giving you the floor.
You felt your heart rate quicken as the whole club looked at you, the other members of Corroded Coffin giving each other mischievous looks, knowing exactly how you and Eddie knew each other…seeing as he was your ex-boyfriend.
You and Eddie had kept your relationship a secret throughout your senior year, the two of you not wanting your senior years to be ruined by the judgement of your peers taking away from what was supposed to be the best year of your life. And it was…until Eddie dumped you last summer before you left for your freshman year at Notre Dame, claiming he didn’t think the distance would work, but you knew it had something to do with him not graduating with you.
“I can’t do this,” you whisper out, turning on your heel quickly and rushing out of the drama room. You push the doors to the drama room open and walking down the empty hallways as you begin to sob quietly to yourself, the feelings of your breakup mixed with the embarrassment from your interaction becoming too much for you to handle.
Just as you’re about to exit the school, you hear heavy footsteps coming from behind you, as if they were following you. You watch as Eddie’s figure peers from behind the corner, his face neutral and lacking emotions. Rolling you eyes, a scoff passes through your lips and you turn back towards the door.
“Can you please wait, Y/N?” Eddie asks from down the hall, his words echoing a bit due to the emptiness surrounding you two. Your motions stop, contemplating your decision for a moment, before ultimately giving in and turning your attention back to the metalhead.
“Who sent you after me? Jeff? Gareth? or was it one of my brother’s friends?” You question, your arms crossing as you lean against the white brick wall. He digs his hands in his pockets and kicks his Reeboks a bit, his curls bouncing as his attention turns back to you.
“No one did, actually. Henderson-your brother, was about to come after you, but,” he took a long pause, stepping closer towards you, filling the space. “I said it was my mess, so I said I’d check on you,” he tells you, his tone a bit softer as his hands move around while speaking.
“Yeah well you kind of lost the right to ‘check on me’ when you broke up with me last summer, Munson,” you spit at him, your tone telling him just annoyed you are.
“Hitting me with the last name treatment now, I see,” he chuckles to himself. “I deserve that.”
“Damn right you do,” you tell him, a small smirk creeping onto your face. He notices and a smirk appears on his face too.
“I miss you, you know?”
You let out a sigh and press your back to the wall, running your hands across your face in a bit a frustration. Eddie had been so amazing to you when you were a couple, and the past year and a half had been so difficult without him, and you thought maybe you could start getting by. But now he wants to spring this on you? Why do men have so irritating and confusing?
“If you miss me so much, then why’d you break up with me?” You question. Eddie opens his mouth to speak, but you’re quick to stop him. “And don’t give me the bullshit distance line, because Notre Dame is not that far from here, and you know I come back every chance I’m able to.”
Eddie pauses for a moment, his mouth shutting and the sound of his teeth coming together making a clear sound. You watch his face scrunch into the expression he always wore when he was deep in thought, tongue poking out ever so slightly.
“To be honest, I was embarrassed. I couldn’t deal with my failure and I took it out on our relationship. But…I also just didn’t want you to be embarrassed of me,” he reveals.
“Why would I ever be embarrassed of you Eddie?” You pry, your features softening as you look at his disappointed demeanor.
“If we were still together, your college friends would’ve judged the shit out of me for still being in high school. I’m a big failure, and I didn’t want to drag you down with me,” he answers.
“Eddie, you wouldn’t have been dragging me down with you, that’s not how relationships work. And if you had felt this way, why didn’t you just talk with me instead of just breaking things off?”
“I don’t know!” He yells out, making you jump back a little. He takes in your unsettled features and holds out a hand to you from his position on the other side of the hall. “I’m sorry, sorry. Didn’t mean to yell…i’m sorry.”
“I’m sorry you felt like you couldn’t talk with me about it, Eds. And just to let you know,” you begin, walking closer to close the distance between the two of you. “I could never be disappointed in you.”
You watch the smile reappear on his face, looking up at you through his long lashes and you mimicking his smile. He pushes himself off the wall he found purchase against, the two of you merely inches from one another.
“I know I’ve been shitty this past year-”
“Year and a half,” you correct him, a smirk still plastered on your face.
“Year and s half-but I want to try and make it up to you, and possibly…start things again?” he suggests.
You take a moment to ponder on his proposal, making him wait for your respond, even though you already knew the answer. You still loved Eddie, even after the break-up. There might have been some hostility in the beginning, maybe a few negative feelings still lingering, but you wanted to try things again and give him a chance to not be a dick.
“I would like that. But I’m going to be honest and say the break-up did hurt me…so I’m not going to forgive you so easily. You’ll have to work for it,” you tease. He just laughs but looks at you, the seriousness mixed in your face telling him just what he needed to know.
“I’m gonna have to pull out the big guns then, huh?” He smirks.
“Yeah, especially with my college friends. They’re gonna be harder to please than I am,” you laugh out. He bangs his fist over his heart and lets out an overdramatic gasp, making you laugh and shove his shoulder. The two of you begin to giggle at one another, his hand brushing over yours ever so softly.
“You want to join the campaign for tonight? I kept your character sheet in my folder, you know,” he asks, his fingers ghosting over yours and beginning to thread themselves between your own.
“Yeah, I think I will. Gotta drive Dustin home anyway, might as well join the fun,” you answer, turning your body back towards the direction of the drama room, shoving your hand in your pocket to keep your word on making him work for it, which he is quick to notice.
“Yeah, about little Henderson…do you think he’s going to be mad? About our…situation?” He questions, jogging to catch up with you as you make your way down the hall.
“Oh, I have no doubt that he’s going to flip. Looks like I’m not the only Henderson you’ll be making things up to.”

here's the first part to a little domestic steddie thing that I don't have a name for yet, but I thought it up last night and couldn't sleep while I started planning it in my head.
highlights will include: friends to lovers, roommates, slice of life, getting together, hispanic!eddie (MY LOVE), i may sprinkle in the fact that Steve is HOH (but I haven't decided if i'd like him to be in this one), and possibly the first smut i'll have ever written 👀
this is just to get my thoughts out so go into this knowing that at Robin and Steve know that Eddie is Gay, Eddie and Steve know that Robin is gay, and only Robin knows that Steve thinks he's bi. You know, classic steddie fic things.
----------
“Okay, you guys, time to head out, no Dustin, you can’t stay the night.”
“Damn, how’d you know? Dustin asks, picking up his bag and shuffling toward the door to get his shoes on.
“Because you always ask.” Will admonishes his friend.
“Exactly. Thank you, Will.”
“I can’t believe the last session is next week.” Lucas says to himself, slipping on his shoes and ducking down quickly to arrange Max’s in front of her so she can get them on.
“Oh no, what will we do then?” the Max in question snarks back.
“You don’t even play, you can’t be sarcastic about it.”
“Don’t tell me what I can and can’t be sarcastic about, Wheeler.” Max follows Mike out the door and smacks him in the shin with her cane.
“We will see you tomorrow Steve?” El asks, stopping at his side to look up at him with those curious eyes.
“Of course, supergirl, it’s the ‘Everything’s Fine’ party.” He grins at her and she smiles back, moving to grab her shoes as well. Steve stops her “Everything is fine, right?”
She stares off into space for just a second, then smiles back up at him. “Yes. I do not feel any of the Upside Down or of One.”
Steve lets out the breath he always holds when he checks with one of what they are now calling “The Wonder Twins”, El and Will. “Thanks, El, sorry to always ask.”
“It is okay, Steve. I don’t mind.”
“Alright you lot, you heard Stevie. ¡Ya deja de chingar! Ándale, ándale!” Eddie yells at the kids, shoo-ing them out the front door and into his van while the other Hellfire guys get into Jeff’s car. They’d officially disbanded Hellfire after everything happened last year, but still meet for D&D (now at Steve’s house) under a still undecided name.
“No need to be rude, Eduardo, we’re going.” Erica taunts him.
Eddie seems to glitch out, “¿Sabes español?”
“Eso si.”
Eddie sucks his teeth, “Dios mio, now I gotta deal with that; alright, lets go, crotch-goblins, gotta get you home. Be back soon, cariño!” He yells to Steve, still on the front step before he points to Erica and shuts the door in her face.
“I still have no idea what he’s calling me. Why don’t you just tell me? You know spanish.” Steve asks Robin as he comes back inside and closes the door.
“Yeah, but I don’t want to intrude.”
“You literally translated secret russian code, is that not intruding?”
“Yeah, but like, they don’t matter. Eddie does.” He’s looking at her like she’s crazy. “It feels like spying on a friend.”
“Whatever you say, Buckley.”
“Just ask Eddie to teach you. He could use the practice”
“What do you mean? He’s fluent isn’t he?”
“Well, he really only has Wayne to speak spanish with regularly, sometimes me, but usually it’s english. He could start to lose it.”
“That can happen?”
“Yeah, sometimes. I don’t have many people to talk to in Italian, so that’s my worst language. I used to be fluent in that too but if I don’t use it, I lose it.” she shrugs and Steve takes that in.
“I just want to know what he’s calling me, it’s not anything bad is it?”
She smiles softly at him, “No Dingus, it’s not bad. Promise.”
They clean up the rest of the stuff lying around from the kids being there, Robin is rambling on about something that happened at her last solo shift at work, and Steve’s trying to contain his nerves.
“Querido, Estoy en casa!” Eddie yells from the doorway when he gets back. “Now what’s this surprise?”
“Let me guess, ‘Honey, I’m home’?” Steve asks, rounding the corner from the kitchen, still drying his hands.
Eddie points at him, “You got it, Querido.” and gives him a wink before waltzing his way into the living room in front of Steve.
Steve rolls his eyes fondly, and wills the heat that’d crept up on his face from being called ‘Honey’ away while he puts the towel back in the kitchen.
“Okay,” he claps his hands when he walks into the living room, his two friends sitting on the couch in front of him “I have a proposal for you.”
“Oh, Stevie! Of course I’ll marry you!” Eddie jumps up and immediately koalas onto Steve, causing him to take a stabilizing step backward.
“Not that kind of proposal, Eds.” Steve chuckles and goes to unwrap Eddie’s arms and legs from around him.
“So you’re not gonna make an honest woman outta me?” Robin says from the couch as Steve comes around the coffee table, Eddie still latched to his front.
“No, Robs, still not that kind of proposal, sorry.”
Steve finally gets Eddie’s limbs out from around him over the couch so he bounces to a landing on the couch next to Robin.
“That’s bogus..”
“Here.” Steve hands them each a manila folder from the mantle, each one with their name written on it in a thick black marker.
“Okay, here goes. So it’s been a year since Vecna, Will and El both haven’t felt hide nor hair of him since, and since these goddamn events usually happen at least once a year, I think we are in the clear.” He pauses to knock on the wooden coffee table. “So I figure now that Eddie is healed all the way, and he and Wayne are set up well enough again with their hush money, Max is doing pretty good at her physical therapy, the Byers are back in town with a not-dead Hopper….well.”
He gestures to their folders, and they both look down at the same time, like they’d forgotten they were there.
As they open them and start flipping through their stack of papers, Steve continues. “Robin, I know you wanted to take a gap year anyway, so I put down entry for the fall of ‘87 on the applications I sent in, I hope that’s okay.” She looks up at him in shock. “There’s a great International Relations program there too if you want to stay after you get your core classes out of the way? But there are a couple acceptance letters in there so you can take your pick. And I got a job at this little diner nearby to the campus just because I wanted to, but I will pay your way if you want since I’m the one who applied for you so you can just live off your hush money.”
“A-and Eddie, I asked around and there’s a great underground music scene that I think you’d fit right into, and I met a guy named Daryl who was real nice and owned a music shop down the road from the diner who is uhm…something? He wrote “call me” and his number on the flyer he gave me so I feel like it’d maybe be safe for you to work there i-if you wanted to, you know. You could also just live off your hush money. I don’t mind.”
Both of them are stock still and dead quiet. He finally looks down at them on the couch.
Both of their faces are blank, like they don’t know what it is they are supposed to feel, which, Steve supposes, is better than pissed off.
“Oh fuck, this was too much wasn’t it? Sorry, sorry, just pretend I didn’t say anything, I’ll just—“ he reaches for their papers and they both jerk away from him at the same time.
“Fuck off, this is my stack of papers, get your own!” Eddie yells at the same time Robin yells “No! I’m keeping these forever!” and Steve pulls his hands back in surrender.
“You still haven’t gotten to the proposal part, Dingus. What’s going on?”
“Oh! Uhm, I bought a house? In Indianapolis? My parents are staying away after the earthquake, and sold the house so I leave to sign the last papers and get the keys in two weeks. So that means Eddie can finish his D&D thing in time too.”
They’re quiet for a beat again, then Eddie asks “You bought a house?”
“Yeah, with the money I saved up from Scoops and Family Video, plus what my parents would leave..I only had to use a little bit of my government money in the end. It’s not much, and it needs work that’s why I got it as cheap as I did, but it has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and—actually, I put pictures at the bottom of your stacks if you want to-“
They both shuffle their papers around until they find what they’re looking for. Then immediately look at the others’ like they are comparing notes.
“Robin, that’s the bedroom at the front of the house, it’s got two windows and one has a window seat, so you’ll get plenty of light, and Eddie, your bedroom is the one in the back corner, it’s only got one window but it’s pretty big and I thought that maybe you’d like that one since it just looks out into the woods like yours used to in your trailer. I was going to take the master, but Robin, if you want that instead so you don’t have to share a bathroom with one of us, that’s cool too, I don’t mind.” Steve rushes it all out.
“You want us to move with you?” Eddie’s voice is quiet, eyes wide.
“Uhm, yeah. I do. That’s the proposal. I figured I’d ask you guys to come with. That way we’re out of Hawkins but still close enough if something does happen,” Steve knocks on the coffee table again with two knuckles, “Robin can go to school, and hopefully Indy is far enough out of the way that Eddie can make a clean-ish start?
“And you don’t have to pay rent, It’s all paid for with cash so just maybe buy groceries, or help with the utilities? Or none of it! Like I said, I kinda just thrust this upon you, so no worries if you want to just mooch.” he huffs out a nervous laugh.
Eddie and Robin take a look at each other then Robin is shooting off the couch and (almost tripping) over the coffee table to latch onto Steve
“Of course I’m coming with you, Dingus, we’re two halves of a whole idiot, we gotta stick together.” She unhooks from him and starts wandering away up the stairs, talking about ‘We gotta tell Keith, and my mom is going to be so excited, but she’s definitely going to think I’m pregnant or something,’ like she’s going to pack away her overnight bag from the guest room and be ready to go just like that.
“Eddie? What about you? I get it if you don’t, but like I said, I figured you’d want to get out of here too an–”
“Joder si, pendejo! I’m not gonna turn down a chance to get the fuck outta here!” He jumps up and crashes into Steve once again, squeezing him tight. “It means a lot that you’d want me to come with, Stevie.” He says quietly over Steve’s shoulder.
Steve wraps his arms around Eddie and stuffs his face into his curls, he smells like cinnamon. “Of course Eddie, anytime.”
Eddie pulls back with a soft smile, and gives Steve a look that makes him want to melt into a puddle. Eddie’s gaze flicks down momentarily, then there's a creak from the stairs and Eddie lets him go, backing towards the door. “I gotta go tell Wayne, he’s really going to be excited for me to get outta his hai–out from under his feet.”
Steve busts out laughing at that “I’m so gonna tell him that you said that.”
“You better not, pendejo, otherwise he’ll kill me dead and you’ll have one less roommate!” then Eddie’s turning and flying out the door to his van, taking off toward his and his uncle's new shared apartment.
“Okay, that one’s bad.” Robin says when she’s come down the stairs.
“Pendejo?”
“Yeah, it means ‘asshole’.” She laughs at Steve’s hurt expression, “Oh don’t take it too seriously, Dingus, obviously he was saying it in a joking way.”
“I really need to learn spanish.”
---------
I translated the best I could, PLEASE tell me if something is off in translation:
"¡Ya deja de chingar! Ándale, ándale!" - basically, "Stop your bitching! Hurry up!"
“¿Sabes español?” - You know spanish?
"Eso si" - Yes indeed (my husband says this one a lot lmao)
"cariño" - sweetheart
"Dios mio" - oh my god
“Querido, Estoy en casa!” - Honey, I'm home! (Querido meaning honey, darling, love, etc.)
"Joder si, pendejo!" - Fuck yeah, asshole! (said affectionately :) )

Howdy! 40. things you interupted me to say, or 6. things you said under the stars and in the grass for Steddie? Your choice!!! (also ty for the ask! I'll get right on it! :D)
Hello! I'm sorry this has taken so long, but I have at last finished! Thank you for sending a prompt, and I hope your new year has been going well :D
Prompt from this list. I chose #40. things you interrupted me to say
-
If there’s one thing Eddie can say for the ostentatious double front doors of Steve’s house, it’s that they’re great for dramatically slamming open when you’re angry and your arms are full of bleeding boyfriend.
“I can’t fucking believe you,” Eddie grumbles, dragging Steve over the threshold.
“I can walk on my own, you know,” Steve grumbles right back, halfheartedly shaking the arm that Eddie has in a vice grip. “I didn’t get hit that hard.”
Eddie ignores him. “I swear to god, it’s like you put off a pheromone that makes people want to hit you in the face.”
“Is it working on you right now?” Steve asks as Eddie drags him into the kitchen and shoves him sort-of-gently into leaning against one of the countertops.
“A little bit, yeah!” Eddie snaps.
“Then maybe I should clean myself up,” Steve says; it looks like he’s trying to smirk, but the blood smeared on his chin from the split in his lip is kind of ruining the effect, and Eddie only rolls his eyes as he turns towards the sink.
He knows Steve is trying to make him laugh, trying to get him to lighten up, and usually it would be working, but not this time. This time, Eddie is legitimately pissed, and he’s going to hold onto that.
He’s still going to patch Steve up, obviously, but still. He’s mad.
He pulls the overstocked (actually, adequately stocked, for all the shit they end up going through) first aid kit out from under the sink and then sets to running a kitchen towel under the tap. Behind him, he can hear Steve sigh, but he doesn’t turn to look just yet.
Only when the towel is wet and wrung out does Eddie come back to Steve’s side, swiping the blood off Steve’s chin and then pressing the cloth to his split lip. Steve reaches up to take the towel, freeing up Eddie’s hands to go picking through the first aid kit.
Steve then almost immediately takes the towel away to start speaking, despite the harsh glare Eddie sends his way.
“I’m trying to understand, but I honestly don’t get why you’re so bent out of shape about this,” Steve says. “Like, I’m sorry there was a fight, I know you don’t like that, but it isn’t like I was trying to start anything.”
“Well you weren’t trying not to start anything, either,” Eddie says, pulling the bag of cotton balls from the depths of the kit; he’s not sure how it always ends up at the bottom.
“I was just trying to make that asshole go away. I thought if he just saw you weren’t alone, he’d fuck off. Normally they aren’t brave when they’re not in groups.”
Eddie pauses in wrestling with the cap of the disinfectant to give Steve a flat, sarcastic smile. “Yeah, that worked out real well, didn’t it?”
To Steve’s credit, the guy who’d approached Eddie on the street spitting poison at him about the murder accusations he’d been fully exonerated of had seemed pretty surprised to see Steve step out from around the side of the van. All the same, he hadn’t listened at all to Steve’s firm instructions to walk away, and when he’d tried to further approach Eddie, Steve had stepped between them and given the guy a shove back.
Eddie had known at that moment that they were probably going to have to perform a strategic retreat, but even he hadn’t been expecting the guy’s fist to come flying at Steve as fast as it had.
The ensuing fight had thankfully been short, startled into a stop after no more than a handful of vicious blows when a passerby had started shouting at them, and Eddie had managed to shove Steve into the van and make a quick getaway in the confusion.
“Well at least I’m the only one who got hit,” Steve scoffs. “Between the two of us, I’d rather–”
“Don’t do that,” Eddie cuts in sharply.
Brows furrowed, Steve blinks at Eddie. “Don’t do wh–”
“That’s exactly why I’m pissed off!” Eddie snaps. “You just– you fucking throw yourself between other people and danger like it doesn’t even matter!”
And Steve has the audacity to roll his eyes. “It doesn’t really matter, Eddie.”
“You seriously think that? You think it’s just fine?” Eddie hisses.
“Yes! I think it’s fine, because I’m fine!” Steve gives in to the irritation that’s been edging in since the start of the conversation, snapping back at Eddie. “Nothing that bad ever happens, and I’m standing right here, clearly fine!”
“Oh, you’re fine? This is fine? Standing in the middle of the kitchen bruised and bleeding is fine now?” Eddie demands. “And all those migraines I’ve had a front row seat for, those are fine? And the dizzy spells? And the fact that your vision is so fucked that you need glasses, and you’ve been trying to hide it from the kids by wearing contacts, because you’re clearly fucking fine?”
Eddie can see Steve’s jaw clench, the way he’s biting back an immediate and vicious retort, but Eddie’s not having it. He’s worked up enough that he’s decided they’re hashing this out right the fuck now.
“Answer me, Steve.”
“No. Just drop it, Eddie,” Steve practically growls. “That shit isn’t important, okay? It’s not.”
Somehow Eddie resists the urge to pull his hair out, but he should probably put the bottle of disinfectant down before he squeezes it beyond repair. “What’s more important than your fucking brain?”
“You!”
It’s the loudest Eddie’s ever heard Steve get outside of a life or death situation. It’s certainly the loudest Steve’s ever gotten with him, and it startles Eddie into silence for a short moment.
“You, the kids, Robin – your safety! There is nothing more important,” Steve says firmly, like he’s declaring some kind of universal law. “And I can’t… there isn’t much I can do but put myself between you guys and danger. Sometimes it’s all I can do. So I do it.”
It’s said with such steady conviction that Eddie feels cold; the idea that Steve is so committed – so determined to go down as the shield is terrifying.
And infuriating.
“And just what the fuck are we supposed to do when that strategy costs us you?” Eddie jabs a finger into the middle of Steve’s chest, demanding an answer. “What are we supposed to do without you?”
For the first time since the argument began, Steve looks away. He glances down at the ugly, tiled floor just to the right of Eddie’s sneakers, shaking his head. “C’mon, you guys would get along fine without me.”
“You really think that?” Eddie can’t help the shrill, incredulous laugh that works out of his throat. “You really think we’re that goddamn heartless that we’d just get on fine if you fucking died?”
“No!” Steve’s eyes snap back to Eddie, alarmed. “That’s not– I don’t mean you’d just immediately forget about me or whatever, of course you care, I just… like, you’d be alright. There’s nothing you need me for.”
Eddie steps forward, eliminating almost all the remaining space between them, and reaches up to put his hands on either side of Steve’s face, nearly cradling it. Even now, even bewildered and angry, Steve can’t help but lean into the touch, and Eddie keeps his grip gentle as he announces, “That is bullshit.”
Steve stares at Eddie, more confused than before, maybe a little hurt, but Eddie goes on.
“You think we’d be able to just get over you? That we don’t need you? I’m not sure Henderson would ever fucking recover. Buckley would have a meltdown big enough to take anyone inside a ten mile radius out with her. And I–” Eddie breaks off because he knows he’s tearing up now; he’s always wielded his strong emotions like some kind of superpower, channeling them into making himself a better musician, a better storyteller, a bigger-than-life target that’s harder to take down, but right now he can’t tell if they’re helping make his point or if they’re just making things worse. “I love you so fucking much. And if you just– if you just leave, what hell am I supposed to do with all of that? Where am I supposed to put it?”
“Eddie…”
“I need you here, Steve. Not between me and some asshole townie, but next to me. With me. I need you to make that your priority.” In spite of how tensely he’s holding himself, Eddie’s hands are still gentle on either side of Steve’s face, careful of the cut on his cheekbone that Steve himself never seems to have noticed at all. “Please.”
Slowly, Steve’s hands slide up under Eddie’s jacket and come to rest on his waist, warm through the fabric of Eddie’s t-shirt. “I don’t… know if I know how to do that. I don’t know how to step back,” Steve admits after a minute. “But I can– I can try.”
At some point during their argument, Steve’s lip had split back open, another few fat drops of blood rolling sluggishly down towards his chin, so Eddie tilts to the side a little as he leans in and presses a kiss to the corner of Steve’s mouth.
They stand that way for longer than Eddie really cares to count, nearly nose to nose, existing in each other’s space because they can, before Eddie kisses Steve again and pulls away.
“Alright, we’re gonna patch you up for real this time, and then we’re gonna make sure you’re not concussed.”
Steve rolls his eyes, though he’s barely more than exasperated. “I’m pretty sure I’d know if I had a concussion, man. I’m some kind of expert by now.”
“Yeah, well, humor me,” Eddie says, taking the bottle of disinfectant back up and hunting for another cotton ball.
“Okay, but I don’t have a concussion.”
“That’s just what a person with a concussion would say.”
“No, a person with a concussion would say ‘I think I might have a concussion,’ and then throw up on an EMT.”
A sharp laugh barks out of Eddie’s chest, real and startled, and he looks over at Steve. “You didn’t.”
“Post-Starcourt. Truly my finest moment,” Steve says, giving Eddie a look that lands leagues short of dignified, and Eddie laughs again.
They go through cleanup process in silence after that, no longer angry, not bitter, but tired and a little uncertain.
“What do you want to do after this?” Steve finally asks when they pack away the medical supplies.
Eddie shrugs. Before shit had gone down, they’d been planning to get dinner and then maybe swing by the video store to pester Robin and rent something for the night. Their evening is wide open, now. “Dunno. You have anything in mind?”
“Honestly? I’m tired. I kind of just want to lie down.” Steve says, and Eddie’s eyes cut back to him sharply; it takes a lot to get Steve to admit he’s anything less than ready to go at all times.
“Okay…” Eddie says. “D’you… want me to go, or–”
“I want you to lie down with me,” Steve says, reaching out to grab Eddie’s hand, as if Eddie’s about to run off. “I just… want to be with you a while.”
“Oh,” Eddie breathes. “Yeah. We can do that.”
Steve’s answering smile is small, a tired thing trying not to tug on the barely-formed scab in his bottom lip, but it’s there, and Eddie’s pretty sure he loves it just for that.

Age Of Consent [part one]
Summary: Dustin’s older sister thinks Eddie Munson could be a bad influence on her younger brother due to their history. Can he change her mind?
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Fem!Henderson!Reader
Word Count: 1,166
What you’ll find in this series: big angst, wholesome fluff, sexual content, and a lot of profanity.
A/N: So the first time I posted this it had the ending and the middle in the same draft, so hopefully no one actually read that... This series was titled after the song Age Of Consent by New Order; the main characters in this story are of age and consenting adults.
Read Part Two
Tumblr media
“Don’t you think the Weird Al t-shirt is a bit- much?”
“Do I th- absolutely not!” Your little brother replied, looking down at his choice of attire. He also had on a Hawaiian print button-up and a trucker’s hat he got from Science Camp. “This is a great shirt.”
“It’s your social life hanging in the balance.” You reminded him, rolling your eyes.
“You sound just like Steve,” he replied as he began to unbuckle his seat belt. “Just like him.”
Dustin was one of those kids who had to check, and double-check, to make sure that he had everything that he needed before he got out of the car. You could hear him quietly mumbling to himself as he checked his pockets, “lunch money, batteries, number 2 pencil.”
“You got a life in there somewhere?” You asked sarcastically as he rummaged through his backpack. “Come on, you’re going to make me late for work.”
“Alright, alright!”
“All jokes aside,” you mentioned as he opened the passenger side door. “I hope you have a great first day. I’ll see you at home.”
Dustin nodded and headed towards the double doors of Hawkins High, his first day as a freshman. You had to admit that you were worried about him, you couldn’t help it. High school was a completely different experience- it wasn’t just the same middle school bullies anymore. Kids were mean, you remembered what it was like.
Your little brother usually biked to school, but you promised him that for his first day of freshman year you’d drive him. You hadn’t been back to Hawkins High since you graduated- for good reason. The sickening nostalgia of the high pony-tails and the sea of green and gold was enough to make you regret your decision to drop Dustin off. You had repressed those memories for a reason, and still, you at least waited for him to get inside before you finally decided to drive away.
When you got home from work, your mother was just finishing up with dinner and Dustin was finishing up his homework at the table.
“Hey mom,” you called to your mother who smiled at you over her shoulder as she pulled whatever it was she was cooking out of the oven. “You got something on your-” you pointed at Dustin’s shirt. He fell for it, allowing you to flick his nose when he looked down. “Nerd. How was your first day?”
You pulled your bag off of your shoulder and dropped it in an empty chair before grabbing the silverware to begin setting the table.
“I was asked to join a D&D club, so I would say today was a total success.” His words made you freeze. “They call it the Hellfire Club.” Dustin said proudly. “Look, I even got this awesome t-shirt.”
Dustin pulled the familiar t-shirt out of his backpack and unfolded it with a wide grin, yet, the sight of it made your stomach drop.
“You’re in Hellfire?” You asked him as you placed the napkins in the center of the table. “Of course you’re in Hellfire.”
He nodded his head with a toothy grin. “You know it?”
“I’ve heard of it.” You shrugged.
“Eddie, the Dungeon Master, is so cool, Y/N, you have to meet him.”
“Eddie Munson?” You asked, trying to wrap your head around it all. Dustin nodded again.
You couldn’t believe that Eddie was still even in school. You figured that he would have dropped out eventually. He had to be at least twenty years old by now, still preying on the societal outcasts of Hawkins High to join his little cult- he was always determined to make it his legacy.
Four years of drama club meant four years of sharing the same classroom with Hellfire. You had spent countless long nights building and painting sets and sewing costumes while Eddie Munson and his misfits journeyed their way through campaign after campaign. Eventually, the two of you became friends. There were nights where he’d even linger; helping you paint or just making sure that you weren’t there alone.
Among other things.
“Earth to Y/N?” Dustin was waving a hand in front of your face. “Can you please pass the potatoes?”
“Sorry,” you muttered and handed him the bowl.
“Are you okay, sweetie?” Your mother asked, concerned. Dustin was staring a hole through you, and you could practically see the gears turning in his head trying to figure you out.
“"Y-yeah,” you lied. “Totally cool.”
You shoved a bite of mashed potatoes in your mouth to try and hide your fib. Dustin shook his head and went back to talking about the teachers that he had this year and weird it was not seeing Will at school this year. You inevitably tuned him out, your mind reverting back to your memories of Eddie Munson.
Dustin didn’t know about your history with the metalhead and you couldn’t have been more thankful. You didn’t want him to make a big deal out of it, which you knew he would have. However, you did wonder if Eddie targeted him because he somehow knew that Dustin was your little brother.
It’s not like it would have been hard for him to figure it out.
“Dustin?” You were both standing at the kitchen sink now, you were washing and he was drying the dishes. You turned to him, fingertips slightly submerged in the hot water still. “I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to be in this club.”
“Why?” He asked, clearly upset. “It’s just D&D.”
“It’s not just D&D,” you replied and dried your hands on the washcloth that he was holding. “It’s more than that. These guys are older and- well, they can be very impressionable on young minds.”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about.” Dustin fought. “You’re just jealous because I’m actually making friends in high school and you never did.”
“Ouch,” you placed your hand over your heart and your brother sighed.
“That was mean, I’m sorry.” You nodded in response, but in the same breath, he continued with, “I just think you’re being a little dramatic. If you would just come to one campaign and meet Eddie, I think you would change your mind.”
You hadn’t seen Eddie Munson in two years. The last time being the day that you graduated; the day that you tried so desperately to forget about. Sometimes you thought you’d caught a glimpse of him turning a corner, or maybe saw his van parked outside the record store on the way to work.
So maybe it was possible, in the last two years, that the guy had changed. You didn’t want to rob Dustin of a chance to make some friends in high school or make things worse for him.
You knew this was a terrible idea.
“Fine,” you sighed.
Dustin almost jumped for joy and threw his arms around your middle. “I promise you’re going to love him!”
Yes, that was precisely the problem.

Mrs. Smith looked at Eddie as he whined. "If you keep this up, you'll be grounded for the weekend, Munson." Eddie looked at you sitting diagonally across from him and talked whike he was rolling his eyes "It's better than being a partner with her."
When you heard this you laughed sarcastically and looked over your shoulder at Eddie who was already looking at you "It's nice we have the same thoughts" you showed him your middle finger.
When the recess bell rang, you gathered up your books and looked at Eddie as he walked by. "Hey, Jerk." Eddie stopped his steps and slowly turned around to look at you. “Don't call me that, weirdo.”
"Or?" you said with a smirk. Eddie rolled his eyes "Just tell me what the fuck are you gonna tell" you rolled your eyes just like him "We have to hand in the homework in 2 days and I don't want to fail the class because of a retard like you."
Eddie looked pissed off "If you want to be a partner, learn how to speak properly, you idiot." You looked at Eddie and crossed your arms "Why would I? I don't like you." Eddie sneered "Oh really, that made me so sad you stupid bitch".
This time you were annoyed too "You know what,I'll do the fucking homework on my own and you'll continue to fail the class, moron."y ou grabbed your bag, slammed yourself Eddie's shoulder and walked out of the classroom. He didn't care at all.
Hours had passed and you had been studying in the library for a long time trying to finish this stupid homework. You looked on your phone screen, took a deep breath and continued writing again. A few minutes later, with the books placed firmly on your desk, you looked straight ahead and saw Eddie. You were still angry at him, but it was a normal thing, you were always angry at each other.
"What the fuck do you want?" you asked aggressively. "To pass the fucking class" he answered while he was sitting next to you. You ignored him and turned back to your laptop, rolling your eyes. A few seconds later Eddie looked at you "So what are we doing?" No wonder he didn't follow the library rules-at all-,he was quite loud.
You frowned and whispered "Can't you just shut the fuck up?" He looked at you while he was playing with your pencil case "How are we suppose to study if I shut the fuck up?" You knew Eddie was like this,he was bored and found a great opportunity to make fun of you again. You exhaled deeply and mumbled to yourself as you tried to stay calm. You had no choice but to ignore him.
A few minutes later, just when you thought he was silent,he continued in the same tone of voice "What are you doing with all these pens?" every time he spoke people would tell you to be quiet and look at you judgmentally. You looked at him "Eddie can't you just lower your voice?" he looked at you and thank God he spoke in a quieter voice "But that's my tone.". You closed your eyes for a few second and looked at him back "Then just don't talk". He raised his hands slightly in the air and looked at you "Alright, promise." he looked around and took a deep breath,he was feeling bored. While you were carefully searching through the document, Eddie spoke louder than usual "Do you know how to play D&D?". You looked at him with anger "For God's sake Eddie!"
You adjusted your backpack on your shoulder and looked at Eddie "I can't believe we got kicked out of the library because of you." He looks at you "Because of me?You were the one who screamed my name" He hadn't expected it to sound this way when he uttered the sentence. He thinked about it for a few seconds and there were some things he liked about it.
You looked at him "Ugh,fuck you I'm going home you jerk." when you started walking,he looked after you and called out "I love you too, sunshine!" when you showed him your middle finger without turning around,he laughed and started walking in the opposite direction.
The next day,Eddie was putting his books in his locker, you walked over to him and looked at him "We have to finish this shitty homework till tomorrow so come over to my house after school and let's finish this shit." he rolled his eyes and closed his closet door "Am I going to come to your house?Like it's not just talking to you is annoying enough" when you gave him that sharp, angry look you always gave him,he took a deep breath "Fuck...Alright,just send me the address."
When the doorbell rang, you put out your cigarette and walked towards the door and smiled fakely when you saw Eddie in front of you "Welcome jerk". Eddie gave you the same fake smile "Shut your mouth". You closed the door behind him and pointed to the stairs, "Upstairs, second room on the right I'll be right back."
While you went to the kitchen,Eddie entered your room and looked around. Everywhere was full of band posters and albums. Iron Maiden was playing on the cassette player. It looked just like his room, only more expensive. He looked at the signed albums on the shelf "Shit…". You entered the room with two beer bottles in your hand, closed the door behind you and placed the beers on the table. Eddie looked at you while he was pointing the signed Black Sabbath album "Is this a replica or something?". You looked at him "No it's not". Eddie was regretting calling you a wannabe at one point. You were exactly the kind of girl he wanted, but you were both reluctant to admit it.
It's only been a few minutes since you were started to study and Eddie couldn't help but turn back to you "Do you play bass?" You hummed in agreement as you continued writing in your notebook, Eddie took a sip of his beer “You know,I have a band and-” You cut him off. "No,I like hanging out solo" he pursed his lips and just shook his head. "Still gonna call you poser" you laughed at what Eddie said and looked at him "Shut up".He smiled as you laughed "Wow, I didn't know you could do that."
You looked at him "I didn't even know you were even remotely funny either." He raised his eyebrows, "You don't know anything about me,little girl." As the conversation dragged on,you put down the pen in your hand and reached for the cigarette paper on the side. You sat back, put your feet up on the table and started rolling a cigarette "Fuck.that.homework".
Your oversize Dio t-shirt you were wearing covered your short underneath. It was like there's nothing underneath. The only thing covering your legs were your thigh socks. Eddie was examining all these details while you rolled your cigarette. When he came to himself a few seconds later,he felt like a complete pervert. He quickly turned his gaze away. You looked at him. “You normally never shut the fuck up and now you don't talk?” He smirked "I never shut the fuck up because you always telling me to shut the fuck up". You laughed loudly and took the lighter from the side "Freak." while you were enjoying the conversation,he was just in a weird mood, like he liked you.?
At the same time, you were still annoyed with each other. He just never give himself the chance to get to know you this closely. He watched you for a few seconds while you smoked your cigarette. "There's a concert at the metal bar this weekend,do you want to come?" You shrugged "Sure, why not 'best friend'" He chuckled at your speech, underlining the word "close friend". He took a sip of his beer. You both ignored your homework and were just chatting. From the very beginning, it seemed like you both wanted to say "I wish we had had this conversation earlier." but never did.
You put the Type O Negative tape into the cassette player. When I don't Wanna Be Me started playing you closed your eyes and sat back on the couch "I love this song".
"Yeah,me too" Eddie said. You turned your head to the side and looked at Eddie sitting right next to you and without wasting any time Eddie kissed you.

eddie request idea: besties secretly in love with eachother and sharing a bed? maybe reader stays over eddies trailer bc things aren’t too good at home, and he goes to sleep on the couch but she asks him to stay and hold her. basically hurt and comfort? feel free to change anything :)
hiiii thank you so much for requesting! it ended up kind of angsty but i hope u like it anyways :D | 1k of hurt comfort softies
Eddie hears knocks on the door and he knows it’s you. There’s only one person who comes to see him unannounced and this late in the day.
He leaves his room to get the door, walking through the trailer quickly because he hates making you wait.
You stand in front of him with puffy eyes and streaked cheeks. You’ve been crying, and it hurts him to see you this way. He wants to kiss away every tear, every bit of pain. But he can’t, because you’re just friends. Best friends.
There’s a bag slung over your shoulder, and you shift its weight before gathering yourself and breathing deep.
“Can I stay over?”
“‘Course you can. Anytime,” he doesn’t even have to think about it.
He takes your bag off your hands, ushering you inside and shutting the door behind you. He knows that you’ll need some time before talking to him, so he lets you have it. Your bag is deposited in his room, and the kettle is on the stove. Eddie keeps your favorite tea at all times, even though he only ever drinks it if you’re around.
You’re on the couch, hands still slightly shaky and sniffling to hold back from crying anymore. You feel awful for asking Eddie to stay, for making him take care of you yet again, but he’s the best thing you’ve got and you can’t let that go. He’s your best friend, your person.
You’re the type to believe in soulmates and you’re almost certain that he is yours. You hope it’s romantically, but you’d take him in your life in any way.
He comes in with two steaming mugs, and sets them both down on the coffee table in front of you before sitting down. He’s close enough that your thighs touch, that you can feel the heat coming off of him and all you want to do is curl into it and never leave.
“Do you wanna talk about it?”
“It’s just my parents. It’s fine.”
Your head is bent, staring at your hands in your lap where they now hold the mug to keep them warm. You can't bring yourself to look at him because you know what you’ll see, the softness and worry all over him. He reaches out and grabs your chin between his thumb and index finger, turning your head gently so that you see him, and he sees you.
It’s devastating.
“It’s not fine if it’s making you cry, honey,” his eyes are shining the way they always are, like pools of chocolate that melt constantly. He’s so pretty.
Your eyes are already welling up again at his tone, at how much he cares.
“‘S the same as always, Eds. I don’t know what to do anymore.”
“Hey. This is not your fault, it’s theirs. You can stay with me as long as you want, you know that,” he means it.
“I know but I feel so bad. And Wayne-”
“Likes you more than he likes me, if he was here he’d tell you himself. Seriously, it’s okay.”
He has a way of reassuring you that works, that makes you want to be able to make him feel safe, too. He’s so good to you even when you’re convinced it’s not what you deserve, and you know that he isn’t this way with anyone else.
You aren’t, either. Only him.
He’s the only one you trust enough to be vulnerable, to lay out all of the ugliness in your life and let him stare. It’s because you know he’ll never turn his back on you.
“Can we just watch a movie? I don’t want to think about it anymore.”
“Take your pick.”
You do, and it’s one you’ve made him watch with you at least ten times but he never complains because he knows it’s your favorite and if it helped you feel better he’d watch it a hundred times in a row.
The two of you drink your tea, make comments about the movie like you always do. You can imagine this being your life forever. Eddie and the hum of the TV and the comfort it all provides.
What you don’t know is that he’s thinking the exact same thing. He’d be happy to sit on the couch with you by his side for eternity.
Eventually, mugs are empty and the movie ends. You’ve shifted, your head is leant on Eddie’s shoulder and your legs curled up under a blanket. You fell asleep on him and he really doesn’t want to wake you, but he knows you’ll get a kink in your neck and not enough rest if you stay this way.
He brushes the baby hairs from your forehead, plants a kiss on your head, “hey, wake up.”
You mumble something incoherent before peeking your eyes open and trying again.
“Hi.”
“Hi, honey. Let’s get you to bed, okay?”
He helps you up, and cleans up the living room while you get ready for bed. As you settle beneath his covers, he comes in, now clad in boxers and a band tee, and grabs an extra pillow from his bed. He’s about to walk out the door when you speak up.
“Where are you going?”
“Um. The couch?” He’s confused because this is the routine that always happens when you stay over. Never once have you questioned him until now. “Like usual.”
“Will you stay? With me?”
“You sure?”
When you nod, almost shy, he walks back to the bed and places his pillow next to the one you lay on. He doesn’t know what’s different about this time, if maybe things were worse for you or maybe you just wanted him there, but he’s happy to lay next to you.
When you’re both settled under the blankets, turned towards each other and noses almost touching, you surprise him again.
“Would you… hold me?”
His arms are open for you, inviting you to move in close, “c’mere.”
Your head finds a spot on his chest, an arm around his stomach, and your legs tangled with his. He’s holding you close to him, running a hand up and down your back to soothe you. It’s really nice.
“Thank you, Eddie.”
“I’m always gonna be here, honey.”
I love you, he wants to add.
“I know.”
I love you, is on the tip of your tongue.

დMasterlist
“Y/N? Earth to Y/N!” Robin’s raspy voice snaps you out of your trance. “What is going on with you?”
Everything.
“Nothing.” You answer quickly and start picking up the movies and placing them on the shelf in front of you.
Truth is, you are mourning. After everything that happened last summer… You were silently mourning. The events that took place at Starcourt have changed your life. Sure, the idea of another dimension and creatures existing intrigues you, but suddenly losing your almost-boyfriend, Billy, not so much.
You and Billy got close at the beginning of senior year. He’d drive you around the town, get drunk with you and listen to you speak about your passions, dreams and goals. You were in love with him. Not that you knew what love was, but Billy came close to it and besides… Billy was not perfect. Far from it, actually. He wanted all the benefits of dating you but without actually making it official. You two would go to parties together, sure, but he wouldn’t touch you in public. He would not hold your hand; he wouldn’t even wrap his arm around your shoulders. Nothing. And one day, in early summer, he stopped contacting you.
He started a new job as a lifeguard and stopped hanging out with you. The last conversation you two had was when you confronted him by the pool. You were so angry and so, so drunk. Your idea of “confronting Billy” was yelling mean things at him and throwing weak punches. Billy never showed any sign of emotion. He just stood there, watching you. With one last “I hate you”, you left and that was the last time you saw him.
And then Starcourt happened. And Billy died. And you got cold. Very cold.
“Do you know where I can get pot?” You ask Robin, who has been staring at you for the past minutes.
“Pot?” Robin raises her eyebrows. “Are we celebrating anything? Oh my god, did I forget your birthday?”
“Birthday party?” Steve’s voice is coming from behind the register.
With a big frown on your face, you turn to face Steve. “My birthday is in October.” You answer.
“What?” they both ask in unison.
It’s not their fault. You never told them your birthday, how could you? You befriended the two last summer and after the events that happened at the mall, you spent your birthday getting drunk, ugly crying and watching tv in your room.
“Yea…” you pause, watching their surprised faces. “Anyways, can you guys hook me up with someone?”
“There is this weirdo that is hanging around Henderson and Mike. Some D&D fella.” Steve speaks.
“Cool… I’ll drive.” You take Steve’s car keys and start walking towards the door.
“I still can’t believe you never told us your birthday.” Robin adds, following you into the car.
---
“Ah, Harrington, heard a lot about you.” The long-haired boy speaks as he sits down on the wooden bench.
The boy, who introduced himself as Eddie Munson, is wearing a “Hellfire Club” shirt and a denim jacket. He weirdly reminds you of Billy. Except, he is nothing like Billy. Billy wouldn’t smile that often and he would definitely not smile at you like that in public.
“Who are these two beautiful ladies?” Eddie asks and opens his metal tool box, revealing a bunch of green and purple buds.
“Robin and Y/N.” Steve answers.
“I’ll take this.” You pick up the small plastic bag and look up at Eddie. “How much?” you ask.
“Slow down, beautiful.” Eddie stops you and takes the bag out of your hands. “What are you guys? A three-way couple? A throuple?” he asks.
“What?” Steve scuffs.
“No.” Robin laughs nervously.
You roll your eyes and pick up another bag from his tool box. The buds are purple, this time.
“How much?” you ask again, making eye contact with Eddie.
Leaning on his elbows, Eddie’s smile fades as he comes closer and closer to your face. Taken aback by his sudden movement, you lean back. “Do you even know how to roll?” Eddie smiles again and returns to his original position.
You don’t know how to roll.
Why would you? You’ve only started smoking once Billy got in town and you befriended him. He would always roll the joints for you as you watched carefully. As a contribution, he would let you lick the thin paper before lighting it up.
Come to think of it, you have not smoked ever since Billy passed away.
“No.” Robin answers for you.
“Here’s the deal. I will give this…” he picks up the original bag of buds. “And that.” Eddie points towards the bag that you are holding. “For free. And I’ll roll the joints.”
“What’s the catch?” Steve asks. “Come on, you’re not gonna give them to us for free.”
“Ouch!” Eddie gets up suddenly, pretending he just got shot in the heart. “You’re hurting me, Harrington.” He walks over to your side of the table. “The catch is, I get to smoke with the throuple.” He laughs.
“I’m out.” Robin gets up, throwing her hands up in defeat.
“Robin…” You catch her by the wrist. “Stay, please?” you practically beg her. You really need a distraction right now, and you would rather do it with your best friend.
“Yes, Robin, stay.” Steve adds.
Robin sighs and sits back down on the bench.
“Perfect!” Eddie exclaims and sits down, opposite of you.
You hand him the bag of buds and watch him quietly as he starts grinding the weed. His technique is gentler than Billy’s. Eddie mixes the weed with tobacco and rolls it carefully, making direct eye contact with you as he licks the paper.
You wince, giving him a confused look. He smiles and starts working on the other joint. Is he flirting with you? Why is he flirting with you? Doesn’t he know? You’re Billy’s girl.
You were Billy’s girl.
No, you weren’t.
Billy is gone, Billy is dead.
After Billy, you didn’t really think about going out with other guys. You weren’t looking for other guys. Robin and Steve always wondered why you’d never give any guy a chance, but you couldn’t just tell them why. They both hated Billy with every bone in their body. Steve tried his luck with you, but you made it clear that you were not interested. Robin even asked you if you were into girls.
“Would you like to make the honors?” Eddie places a joint between his lips and hands you a lighter.
You light it up and he takes a small puff, handing you the joint. The familiar smell of weed reminds you of the late nights you spent with Billy, smoking in the back of his car.
Fuck that, fuck Billy.
The reason you wanted to get high is to escape him.
You take a puff, inhaling it quickly and holding it for a few seconds before exhaling. You hand the joint to Robin. She takes it and you give her a forced smile.
“Stuff’s good.” You speak, shifting you gaze towards Eddie, who is watching you closely.
“Shouldn’t we smoke in my car? You know… to max out the effect?” Steve speaks and lets out a little cough.
---
Although the car only made you think of Billy at first, the effects of the pot finally started kicking in and you could literally feel your body melt into the car seat. Your vision is a bit clouded but you manage to get the small joint from Robin’s hands. You take another puff.
“It’s dead.” You speak, handing the remaining filter to Eddie, who is sitting in the passenger’s seat.
He pulls the other joint out of his pocket and lights it. “Come here.” He points at you and leans towards the backseat.
You feel like you are on autopilot, so you manage to lift up your body, moving closer to the long-haired boy. He takes a big puff and you can feel the cold rings against your skin as he cups your face. “Open.” Before you know it, your mouth opens and he gets closer, blowing the smoke into your mouth. His lips almost touching yours.
He takes his hands off your face and you immediately sink back in your seat, shakingly exhaling the smoke.
“Should… we give you guys some privacy?” Robin laughs, looking at you and Eddie.
Your brain just registered what happened. Does Eddie like you? Does he do this with every girl? He didn’t do it with Robin. You feel your cheeks heating up and quickly move your gaze to Robin, who is sitting besides you in the backseat. She has a lazy grin on her face.
“So, you are telling me you hang out with these beautiful ladies and you are not dating any of them?” Eddie laughs, looking at Steve.
“I like girls.” Robin speaks making both you and Steve look at her.
You didn’t know if it was the weed, but Robin has not been open with her sexuality with anyone but you and Steve. So, for her to just confess like that makes you worry.
“Yeah uh… I am not dating anyone at the moment.” Steve chuckles nervously before passing the joint to you.
“I’m…” you speak before taking a puff. “I’m Billy’s girl.”
Oh, shit.
Realization hits you after a few seconds. Shit, shit, shit. Speaking before thinking, nice job, Y/N. Both Steve and Robin are now staring at you.
“I mean, I was…” You cover your face with your hands. “I’m single now.”
“Billy? Billy Hargrove?” Steve speaks, raising his voice. “When? How?”
“Why?” Robin adds, freaking out.
“Isn’t the kid dead?” Eddie asks.
You hand the joint to Robin before opening the car door.
After what felt like minutes, you step out of the car, inhaling the fresh air. It’s dark now, and your mind is still fizzy. How are you going to explain to your best friends that you dated the man they hated? You start to feel your knees weaken as panic invades your entire body. It’s not a good time to open up to them. Not now.
You contemplate running away and never talking to them.
Chills run down your spine when you decide to open the car door and sit down.
“Y/N…” Steve speaks, softly. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know.” He adds.
“I’ve never told you guys. I’m sorry.” You apologize.
“Should I give you guys some privacy?” Eddie speaks, emphasizing on the “I”.
“No, no, it’s fine.” You brush it off quickly before you take the joint from his hand. “I don’t want to talk about it.” You take a puff. “Should we listen to some music?”
As Steve turns on the radio, you can’t help but stare at Eddie’s side profile. You also can’t help but replay the previous moment in your head. The way his hands felt against your skin, the way your lips almost touched his, the way your body just obeyed him.
Maybe you don’t need drugs to distract you from Billy. You need someone to make you forget.

"Why do you hang it there?"
He slammed the door to his bedroom closed with his bare foot. Two hands occupied with beers and a bag of pretzels, a cigarette hanging loosely from his mouth as his pants were hastily thrown on and the belt buckle rattled lightly.
"Hang what where?"
“The guitar,” Eddie sat down at the edge of the bed, cracking open one of the beers—a much undesired Pabst Blue Ribbon—and handed it to you, “why is it on the mirror like that? So you can always see it?”
You hid your teasing smile behind the lip of the can.
“There’s nothin’ wrong with it if that’s the reason but… you do call the thing ‘sweetheart.’”
“Jealous or somethin’?” He asked as he ripped open the bag of pretzels and fell back against the wall that rested behind his mattress. Eddie was looking at the guitar when he offered you the bag, letting it tilt in your direction. The cigarette in his hand barely burning into the bag.
“Well I don’t know… does she get offered beer and pretzels too?”
Eddie shook his head, taking back the bag after you grabbed a handful. “Nah,” he shoved one into his mouth, “that’s just for my special girls.”
Girls. Plural. Did he mean that intentionally?
It always felt as though he was running. Even in the most intimate of situations.
“Oof,” you winced for the guitar, not letting the sting of his words get to you, “did you hear that Lady in Red?” He didn’t give a name to the guitar but you sure as hell weren’t going to call it sweetheart.
It had some red bolts that refracted off the light, so Lady in Red it was.
You took a drink of the beer and put it down on the floor. Eddie never bothered to have a headboard, he never bothered to buy a frame for the bed. The room was messy yet it was completely him. Records misplaced, random D&D object scattered around, unplugged amps, and a closet overflowing with things as the door hung off by its hinges.
Eddie took a drag of his cigarette, blowing the smoke into the room before getting up again and walking toward the mirror.
There was one light on just beside the dresser. It illuminated the room in a yellow glimmer, shining off of the red lighting bolts and a fantastical shimmer reflected from it. He looked at it quizzically, as if he were studying it.
“What?“ You questioned as he continued to stand there letting the cigarette burn further and further down; the red butt glowing periodically. “Did she—“
“Shh,” Eddie nearly yelled but it came out as a loud whisper, “she’s talking.”
“Oh, fuck off,” You picked up your beer again, readjusting the sheet you covered up with as it slipped.
“What?” He repeated you purposefully, “don’t you hear what she’s saying?” He leaned over, pulling his hair to the side and putting his ear close to the guitar. “You’ll never believe what she said.”
“After all she’s seen? I don’t wanna know,” you rolled your eyes, watching him play into your initial joke with ease and a small smile quirked up on his lips.
“She said next time we have to turn off the lights. The sights have burned her eyes.”
“Well if her eyes are burned out maybe she just needs ear plugs then, huh?” You tipped your head to the side, watching him work out the logic.
“She said ‘agreed!’“ Then he plucked the guitar off its hook.
“I’ve never played for you, have I?”
He was sincere. Eddie had never played for you, no. But you had seen him perform before—every year actually. Corroded Coffin always performed at the annual Battle of the Bands and for three years they landed in third place when they truly should have won. All the guys in the band were great, brilliant even. But the people who had organized the event always grew skeptical when they strummed the first chord.
You shook your head, putting the beer back on the floor and pulling one of your legs toward your body while they other one stretched under the sheet. Eddie loved the way you looked wrapped up in his sheets, glistening with a sheen and now-lax position. The smell you left on there. Perfume, shampoo, a natural sweat—the resulting stains he never wanted to wash out.
You made concessions when it came to his cleanliness.
“I don’t think so, no.”
He considered the guitar for a moment as he held it in his hand. Feeling the tough strings beneath his fingers, the weight of it tugging on his arm. It was sacred yet personable; a familiar love and extension of comfort.
“What’s your favorite song?” He asked, looking at you with his big brown eyes and expecting a generic answer. Maybe something by Fleetwood Mac, Journey… he could see you finding a way to listen to ABBA even if the 70’s were part of the not-so-distant-past.
You chuckled nervously—different than what he had anticipated. You ran a hand over your neck and he caught a glimpse of the hickies he had just sucked onto it—still nice and red and not yet turned.
“I don’t have one,” you replied sheepishly.
“Come on… everyone’s got a favorite song,” Eddie lamented, watching as your eyes lingered on him; trailing and keeping a keen eye on every part of him.
The way his fingers gripped the guitar, the slight strain on the muscle in his forearm, the tattoos that had slowly grown in quantity over the last year, and the happy trail that was only partially blocked by the loose belt at his hips.
“Well not this girl. She doesn’t have one,” Your eyes flicked to his in an instant, catching him looking at you in a similar fashion. You could never get anything productive done when you went to his place.
“Lies, lies, lies…” he muttered.
Eddie finally moved from his standing position and sat down on the mattress once more. Instead of where he had been sitting previously, he sat on the edge, leaning back to tap on the leg that you had just raised.
“Put it down,” he laid the guitar in his lap and pulled the necklace off of his neck. He stored a safety pick there—just in case the moment ever rose where he was without one. It also served as a reminder of something he was good at when he thought he was good at nothing.
But you complied and put your head down, shuffling down the mattress slightly so you could rest your upper back on the wall. Eddie leaned all the way over to you, his head finding home in your lap and half of his body draped carelessly across the bed.
“Tell me,” he asked with anxiously curious eyes starring up at you, “what’s your favorite song?”
“I told you. I don’t have one.” He strummed three chords, nothing coherent that you could tell. Eddie narrowed his eyes. You took one of your hands and moved his shaggy bangs away from his eyes.
“I swear I don’t.”
“Then how am I supposed to play for you?”
He relished the feeling of your nails lightly scraping his forehead to the edge of his hair, the way his hair gently moved. It was relaxing and far more intimate than he'd previously let any girl be with him.
He made small concessions when his walls were down.
"Play me your favorite song," You suggested.
"That's not how this is supposed to work, sweetheart," he chuckled, closing his eyes as you continued to move your fingers languidly through his hair. “Besides, I asked you. Not the other way around.”
“Just think about it, alright?”
You hummed, closing your eyes too. And you thought about it—truly. Racking your brain from aisle to aisle in search of a song that made you feel… something. Eddie cracked an eye open, turning his head in your lap to look at your peaceful, content face and smiled. He took the fingers of your hand that you had wrapped around his upper chest, right below his neck and across to his opposite shoulder and kissed the tips of them lightly—never letting go of his guitar.
“I can see the gears turning,” he commented, his breath hot on your fingers.
“Because they are,” you replied, sighing and opening your eyes back up. He was already watching you and you weren’t surprised. Sometimes he thought he was being sly when he did, but you could always feel it when Eddie Munson was staring at you.
“So, did you think of one?”
“You gave me like a minute to think of it.”
“I think you know but won’t tell me,” his eyebrows shot up his forehead accusingly, dropping your hand back onto his chest.
“Why would I do that?”
“Because,” he thought about it for a moment. On occasion, when he really thought about something, Eddie’s tongue would stick out of his lips in concentration. It was the cutest goddamn thing you had ever seen. “Because you’re embarrassed I’ll make fun of you. I promise I won’t. It’s just music.”
It’s just music, he said. Like music didn’t command every part of his life or dreams. Eddie Munson was brought into this world to play music and while no, you didn’t believe he would necessarily make fun of you, it was the entire situation that had you hesitant.
Eddie wanted to play your favorite song. He would have that knowledge forever and then if anything went wrong, in your relationship together or your life beyond him, you’d always remember the song he played. It would always be associated with him.
You sighed, “Margaritaville.”
Eddie nearly died.
“No fucking way is that your favorite song.”
From his upside down position, he looked you dead in the eye. You held it for approximately three solid seconds before laughing. Of course there was no fucking way.
“I knew it!” Eddie pointed a finger at you accusingly. “Just tell me, baby. Come on, I won’t laugh.”
“Fine, fine,” you conceded as your laughter settled.
“Bennie and the Jets.”
“Elton John?” He questioned honestly but didn’t make fun of you. Was it his taste? No. But he couldn’t deny the genius of Elton John’s lyrics. Man could write a song.
“Yes,” you stopped brushing his hair back and covered your face with the hand. “Can you let it go now?”
“Oh hell no,” Eddie sat up quickly, giving himself a head rush doing so. “I gotta learn it.”
“Eddie!”
“I’m serious,” he laughed and sifted through a drawer for a piece of paper and a pencil. You covered your face in embarrassment—he thought it was cute. He wanted to do this, to show you a piece of him that was essential to who he was and relate it to something you enjoyed.
“I’m gonna learn it and it’s gonna be the best version of it that you’ve ever heard.”
His confidence in his talent was inspiring. If only everyone felt that way about the things they were good at.
You conceded with him that evening about the song.
And he did learn it. A week later he played an, albeit, more alternative version of Elton that you had ever heard, but he learned it for you.
And it’s the only version of the song that sticks out in your memory.
