#i didn't quite get the rendering style right but i still had a lot of fun with it!

Absolutely love the rendition to the panel of Hades holding Persephone. Lovely to see it rendered as a more mutual act with Perse holding onto Hades instead of just letting Hades hold her, and ofc seeing Persephone actually look like an adult woman. (Not to even mention the colors and rendering because whoaa those were lovely)
And I have a question about this new rendition if I’m allowed to make it! The original had very dramatic and sharp composition with the angles and being off centered which conveyed much of the emotions and style that made early LO very striking. In adapting it, was it a conscious choice to change the composition or what were the deciding factors that made you and banshriek decide centering Perse and Hades worked better in this situation? :0
Ahhh thank you ;w; It took a few rounds of sketching to get the pose just right, the flats thankfully weren't as difficult as I was worried they'd be, but the challenge was definitely in trying to get the pose right while maintaining the height difference that's there.
As for your question, a lot of the posing and sketch composition is something I do, and then Banshriek typically goes wild with the backgrounds while making adjustments to those compositions if necessary, often times I leave the backgrounds up to their discretion as they're 10x more skilled at that sort of thing than I am and they often bring new perspectives to the table. This means that it often ends up being a game of give and take between what we contribute, sometimes I'll have sketches that they feel need to be adjusted, other times I'll have to add little tweaks to their backgrounds if it's missing something. We're both working off a base rough sketch, but we both get to contribute to the final scene in our own ways; splitting it between background and character flats has been a happy middle that's worked well for us :)
Depending on the scene, sketches can range from minimal to more detailed. Here's the original base sketch for that scene:
Tumblr media
So originally there was a larger tree working over the side but I didn't really know how detailed we wanted to be in the actual full background, much of it depended on how complex Banshriek wanted to get. You can also tell that Persephone's face was originally buried into Hades' chest in the original panel, which I originally flatted in, but then wound up changing because I wanted her eyes to be visible to reflect both of their expressions of relief at the same time.
That said, with the pose changing from what it was in the original (from Persephone almost laying on Hades vs. him holding her and lifting her up) the composition had to change with it so I decided to just make them a bit more centered, that way the focus would be fully on them and the balance of the scene wouldn't feel "off" due to the pose change. I tend to follow the Rule of 3 here !
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So yeah! That's pretty much why centering it felt a little better in this case. Though part me of does wish I was able to keep the original pose, when breaking that scene down into its bones I found it had to take a lot of liberties with its anatomy and proportions, as many LO scenes do. You can't really tell just on a surface level but Persephone's head is huge and the rest of her body is tiny (her hips literally come up to Hades' sternum and her feet meet at his knees). With the character design changes made in Rekindled to make Persephone a little less tiny and more consistent in her body type (while still maintaining the size difference between them) and to reflect their character arcs at this point (as I'm not rushing them into intimacy quite like the original comic did) certain things have to change to balance it out and accommodate. If you're a math person, think of it like solving algebra equations - what you do to one side of the equation needs to be reflected and adjusted on the other side.
And of course Banshriek did a lot more to really exemplify the mood shift in the almost labrynth-like forest Persephone grew within Tower 4. There are still trees and plant life everywhere, but instead of feeling like an endless maze with its tones of deep red that we saw Hades navigate, it now feels like a soft and gentle meeting point for the two. Like the original scene, the color change is used to change the mood of the scene and reflect the calmness of Hades and Persephone as they've found one another.
At the end of the day we did what we ultimately thought would work best for the way Rekindled is drawn, giving both Banshriek and I the freedom to fully utilize our respective skillsets. That way we were able to pay tribute to that original scene while also creating something new out of it <3
That said, I'm sure @banshriek can also chime in with their own design notes on this episode, if they have a minute to spare! I'm sure they'll have lots to say about the fun they had working with those new brushesヽ(・∀・)ノ

OOOOOH Remastered as Animals Behind Scenes
Oh wow, Ginkgo you're actually getting somewhere with the backgrounds- not I'm not lol. Backgrounds are still a killer, not to mention I had no idea how I wanted to make their den to look like on the inside. So I just went with the general: it's a hollowed out tree.
Another thing I ran into was how I wanted J to look like. I had settled on a fox prior to even starting Sleep nuzi comic. Further solidified by @electronix-arts post on J fox (go show some love on that post, it's an amazing idea :3)
But once I got past the sketching... I hit a wall. The colors for J had to be tested. I tried going with the usual color that I depict N, based off of his merch color. But it didn't seem to fit quite right like it did with V. So I decided to switch her over to the more common red fox palette. There are some foxes that are grey! But I didn't like the way the colors mashed with my style.
Tumblr media
A funny thing I ran into was J doing the bap bap to get N's sensor back online. First it was a thought of letting J slap him with her nanite tail, buuuut I didn't like that idea. So instead I went with J just smacking him like a cat would- foxes are dog hardware with a cat software, you cannot change my mind. Then it was an issue of how I wanted it to look like.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Went through two versions, before scrapping it and finding the perfect reference photo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As per usual, some shots of the process. Get possessed by the absolute solver that gives you yet another insane idea. Sketch, outline and color, aaaand render!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've been making progress on yet another project I decided to add onto myself! I really gotta stop, I have too many ideas and not enough time (proceeds to pile on another 3). It might take a little while longer because... very suddenly, a lot of exams were upon me 😅. I will try my best to still get it out by this week, but if not, then definitely next week. ^_^
Wow, you made it all the way to the bottom, you're crazy. Have a cookie! 🍪

So we know Jill has insomnia.
Whether this was a something she wrangled with since she was young or something she developed after her time at the Spencer Mansion, Jill has now had and dealt with insomnia for a good portion of her life. So there's very little doubt in my mind her insomnia was significantly worse after being Wesker's puppet for several years.
We see the pods where test subjects were put in when they're not being used. We see Jill's empty pod specifically when Chris brings it down. They were putting Jill in cryo-sleep for periods of time we do not know the length of. A type of sleep that's really just done to render the person unconscious like anaesthesia, so they don't know how much time has passed until they're told after they wake up.
How long it took Wesker to get Jill under full control is debatable, but even if I shave off 6 months-1 year for healing and brainwashing, that's still 2 whole years of drug-induced sleep being her only style of rest, and there's no way her body didn't get used to it.
I think a lot of her recovery was learning how to sleep again, and having to tell her doctors or psychologists that she's struggled with insomnia long before she was a puppet. Medicating her sleep doesn't really work anymore. It barely worked before, and resistance is stronger thanks to the virus.
Exhaustion comes to her in waves, but it's worse now. Laying in bed staring at the wall or the ceiling until she wants to scream. Closing her eyes with turning to lay on this side or the other side every 10 to 15 minutes because she's restless in a way she can't name. She tries tiring herself out with a home gym installed. She tries self medicating over the counter remedies combined with her prescriptions knowing she's playing a dangerous game. She tries drinking. Nothing quite works to turn her brain off, and when she does manage to fall asleep she's never sure which cocktail of actions led her to the result. It's also never for long. A few hours at the most. It's fitful, and the nightmares come freely.
Which part of her brain is sending her into the response? There's stress tests done. She's already exercising. Maybe she's more of a night owl? Maybe her inner clock never functioned like most jobs ask of people? She reads to try to relax since meditation isn't working. Her time off is exuberant, and her bills are paid, and there's food she doesn't always have to cook. Her bed is comfortable, and her place is a little messy but hers. She tries learning a new hobby or two. She tries going out to join the night life like she used to before work and bioweapons took over.
She still can't sleep. She's rightfully angry about it. How does anyone deal with doing "all the right things" to fix what's labeled a problem and the problem remains? Simple! She's forced to learn to live with it.

does anyone else get that weird feeling when you can look at a bajillion different art styles and go "yeah that's neat! love it! so cool!" and then as soon as you do absolutely any of your own drawing, there's just a constant alarm going off in your head saying "THIS IS INCORRECT AND IF YOU DON'T FIX IT, IT WILL LOOK TERRIBLE AND ANATOMICALLY INACCURATE" despite it being nothing different from all those other art styles you see and love??? like "uncanny valley" but w/ all your own artwork and almost all the time
like I was just thinking about this, because there's lots of awesome artists I follow on Instagram & Tumblr that have interesting styles that don't necessarily follow real-life human proportions. It's often different variants of anime art but that's not always the case, and across pretty much all these different styles you have different things like how the contours of the face are (i.e. chin, cheeks), or the size/spacing of eyes, or the way the mouth is drawn
but it's just occurred to me that whenever I draw, there's pretty much always a constant nagging feeling, that I have to fix every anatomical or rendering mistake and if I don't then it just won't look "right", and that's one of the biggest things that stops me from completing 99% of my art
like earlier today I posted a 10-minute sketch, and it was obviously not "good anatomy"- it was pure vibes, just drawing what felt right in the moment and immediately posting it without trying to correct anything at all. and as soon as I did it, it hit me- that was probably the first time I've ever just created a piece of art for fun with virtually zero concern about "accuracy". Everything else I ever work on is always constantly drawn-out and changed and modified endlessly because it never feels "correct" and I don't feel like I can proceed with it.
today I've spent more than 3 hours just practicing how to draw heads, and it was the same thing. I was doing okay, but it took ages to get through even the simple parts like drawing straight from an anatomy ref. and it drives me insane not just because of perfectionism or whatever... but the fact that there's not a single "correct" human figure.
There's a ton of natural variation in how people appear, that's why we're all unique ffs! Different people have differently-shaped faces, their noses look different, their cheeks are different, their foreheads can be different, the wrinkles or freckles or eyebrows or eye shape or X Y Z are all varied and unique among different people.
Of course there are certain basic proportions and principles, you don't put someone's eyes on the back of their head, but I know all the basic proportions at this point and I've made a ridiculous amount of figure drawings both live and from photo, quite literally hundreds of drawings ranging from 1-3 minute gestures all the way to 1-, 2-, 3-hour-long works.
So why is it that no matter who or what I draw there's always that piercing & uncanny feeling? that i'm never able to capture a likeness of someone whether real or fictional, whether I'm trying to draw realistically or stylized?? it feels like I'm still getting something fundamentally wrong all the time even when I've studied all the basics and so much more, and even when my own professors look at what I do and say it's correct.
it's probably the autism, since there's a ton of other things in life where I appreciate predictability and uniformity and certainty. math problems have correct answers, essays can have certain types of analysis, machines can be described in terms of mechanical principles. But art isn't like that, and I've had similar issues w/ my art classes before, I just never quite thought of it from this specific perspective. I knew I struggled with open-endedness in projects, but this feels like something even deeper and more infuriating than that >.>
going back to that sketch, I can look at it and see obvious simple mistakes that I didn't bother to fix because I kept it strictly to 10 minutes. the chin is an obvious one, for instance, and the eyes could be better too. but I don't want to go back to that artwork, partially because it's just a 10-min sketch and it's not really anything that profound, but also partially because even though I know I can make it better I'm scared that as soon as I start messing with it I'll never be able to look at it comfortably ever again because it'll always feel incorrect. Not incorrect because I didn't care but incorrect despite me caring so much. which feels so much worse than just making a silly mistake when you're drawing normally.

Hiya! I was thinking about the remastered animation Cel style evil Conan post you put up recently, and I just wanted to say how amazing and impressive it is! I love love love the look of old animation and you really nailed it. I’ve been trying for ages to mimic that look myself and haven’t been able to crack it, so if you ever wanted to talk about your process on this piece, I’d be all ears! Wonderful work, again!
Waaah hi liv!! Thank you, I'm so glad you like it, and that it comes across so convincingly!! One of my favorite things is to make digital art that can have a second life as a different medium, and I wish I had an easy answer for you as to how I go about doing that, but the truth is that it's mostly the result of a lot of trial and error. And a metric ton of references.
Here's a quick process video of my last piece to try to show off what all my layers are like, but I know it's mostly useless without an explanation!! I can't explain it all because I was kinda winging this one for funsies but I can give you general tips for this particular look.
Clip and words below the break!
As a disclaimer I didn't really go into this one intending for it to come out looking the way it did. So it's more of a hybrid look between my usual "clean" digital rendering and a fake screenshot.
[1] Reference, role models, and inspiration - I'm not kidding when I say I used to tote around an entire, dedicated folder filled with printed reference. These days that usually takes the form of about a million browser tabs ( ̄▽ ̄) I stare at early Detco and the first six movies a LOT. And Cowboy Bebop. And Akira. And and [insert your choice of 80s-90s anime film]. Depending on the exact look you're trying to replicate, you can always look to a more era-appropriate movie.
I love pulling inspo from films in particular (both animated and live action) because cinema is a whole other art that employs all kinds of techniques for our usual considerations (like lighting and framing), and looking to them can inspire some pretty poignant imagery, especially when you're trying to create something that's meant to mimic a single-frame capture of exactly that. I don't keep up with movies or anything, but I do have my favorites, and it didn't really occur to me to look to them until some of my favorite artists revealed that they do the same with theirs.
For this particular piece, I also had to establish some consistency with the other piece that bookends the scene, so I actually referenced my own art, too.
[2] BIG canvas! I usually work at two or three times the size I expect to export. Following standard aspect ratios for animated productions can help sell the look. Letterboxes have their own ratio, too, if you choose a widescreen canvas; and subtitle fonts are usually standardized to certain font families and colors since their primary purpose is to help make the media accessible. All this is usually a quick google search away, OR… if you're like me, and you still watch physical media… you can just yoink most of this from a real DVD.
[3] Thin lines!! I still can't quite nail the right line weight for these-- I definitely went too thick here-- but they tend to be very fine. And imperfections are good! Nobody has a perfectly steady hand, especially with traditional cels.
[4] Less is usually more when trying to sell a screenshot look… it's easy to over-ink and over-render and-- in my opinion-- restraint is necessary to sell it. This is the hardest thing to explain… it's design vs. rote emulation, I think. But that said, digital aids (next point) do a lot of the heavy lifting in these - as far as the art is concerned, a little will go a long way! These were some of my easiest lines and shading. So on that note…
[5] …Blending modes, masks, and filters are all your friends o___o I get a lot of mileage out of the default tools already available to me in the art software. There's plenty out there that's available for free, too! I recommend you find a fake anime screenshot tutorial, follow it once, and just go nuts when you get to the part where you can play with these settings. The make-or-break for a convincing screenshot-- in my opinion-- is texture and bloom, and all these digital tools will help you achieve that.
I hope this helps!! Hopefully the video can help you see a bit more of the process since I can only really offer tips. It shows everything at full size so you can see the details, so go nuts!
Thank you for the ask! Beaming plenty of good luck that you can find the look you want!!
ALSO I REALLY HOPE THIS IS THE PIECE YOU MEANT I'M LITERALLY ABOUT TO QUEUE THIS UP AND JUST REALIZED THE ONE THAT CAME BEFORE THIS IS MORE REMASTERED CEL ANIMATION LOOK SKSKSKSK
the same tips apply though so i hope they still help all the same :3c

Hey! I’ve gotten started on Order of Ecclesia! Some first impressions:
1. Shanoa is really freaking pretty. She’s a Castlevania protagonist, so it’s to be expected, but dang.
2. I like how this game, you primarily use spells instead of a whip. Really helps this game stand out!
3. I get the feeling that the situation with Albus and Barlowe is rather complicated. Albus claimed at the beginning that Barlowe lied to him about whether he would wield the Dominus Glyph (which for some reason is always rendered in brackets in the dialogue). Shanoa’s lack of memory strikes me as suspicious (on Barlowe’s end, not hers). Allegedly Albus caused this, but given Albus’s dialogue with Barlowe I’m not entirely sure that’s the truth.
4. If I had a nickel for every time a Castlevania game I knew anything about featured “rivals” of a kind I’d have three now. Which doesn’t fit the meme, but it’s still interesting that it happened thrice. At least.
Please don’t spoil anything, though you can tell me if I’m on the right track with some of my suspicions.
Oh wow, to jump from SoTN to OoE! Timeline wise yes, OoE happens not long after SoTN, but difficulty wise? Oof. Good luck!
YESSSS Shanoa is Best Girl and she's so gorgeous <3 fun fact: Ayami Kojima didn't work on OoE (nor did she work on Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin), the character designer was Masaki Hirooka. I like his style quite a lot :) his drawings may not be as ethereal, but he's less stereotypical in his designs lol (I don't think Kojima ever drew a dark-haired woman).
Not using a whip is pretty common for Metroidvanias because for some reason Igarashi preferred non-Belmont protagonists lol. But Glyphs are really cool, yeah :D I find interesting that they consume mana, it forces you to think before unleashing a flurry of attacks.
Well, I won't spoil anything. I'll simply tell you that OoE has my favorite plot in the series :)
Try four :P Circle of the Moon was the first one, then Harmony of Dissonance, then Curse of Darkness, then this one. SoTN and Lament of Innocence only count in part - Alucard and Richter are foils and fight each other, but they lack the prerequisite "shared past/old friends" part, and Leon's rival is way too underutilized. Yeah, it's a common trope, but every game treats it differently! I'd link to a post I made in this regard, but it heavily spoils all games I've mentioned, so maybe I'll save it for later :P
Have fun! OoE is a rather different game than its predecessors, probably in an effort to make the formula less stale, so I hope you like it nonetheless :)

Hi! Are you playing Engage? What are your thoughts?
I am 🤧
I hope u don't mind this being semi-long but I wanted to mention some things I haven't personally seen Professional Reviewers™️ mention and other details that I've taken note of as well as my opinions thus far!
(No spoilers included, basic summary at bottom of post.)
Disclaimer that my perspective comes from the bias of only having played 3 Houses and 3 Hopes to completion; I do however have varying levels of approximate knowledge in regards to previous games and protagonists. As a general rule of thumb though, my main point of comparison is 3h.
Visuals:
-I'm not particularly fond of the specific art style in Engage, but there art times where it's not that distracting. I think that overall some of the 3D models look better than others. There are no still-photo icons to go along with dialogue, so focus is fairly hard to direct away from the 3D models.
-Battle animations are quite smooth, but I find some of them to be quite dramatic, especially the hit/damage animations! It's not really a positive or negative for me, just something that stands out. On the plus side it seems there are no more arrows clipping right through walls or units running through fences, etc, during battle animations.
-I actually do like all of the well-polished major cutscenes a lot. There are quite a few throughout the chapters I've played thus far and they are visually pleasing.
-Everything looks very shiny. Very shiny. There is quite a bit of crisp contrast in menu screens and the like. Text is a bit bigger than in 3h, so reading things is easier on the eyes.
Music:
-Overall I quite like the music during battles. I haven't had of the music any stuck in my head yet, so I think they're a bit less memorable than the scores in 3h, and those from Awakening that I've heard. but the music is honestly decent, I don't have any complaints about the quality.
-The music alternates between 1 song and another during the player turn and the enemy turn. I could personally do without this, but on the bright side you will always know whose turn it is.
Gameplay:
-Strictly comparing it to the gameplay in 3h maps, I've found it to be a bit more labourous in Engage. A lot of this can probably be attributed to differing controls, but I also feel like I'm pressing way more buttons to get the same things done.
-Weapons don't lose durability. I didn't know this in the first few chapters and was freaking out trying to figure out if my only weapons were going to break suddenly sjfbd
-Maps seem to be smaller in Engage than in 3h? I'm not sure if this will be consistent or not. Along with the possible smaller map size, I personally have found it to be very easy to work through maps even on hard. (Edit: smaller maps are not a constant thing; it was more common at the beginning.)
-There's a phase after battles where you can wander around a 3D rendering of the map and collect items, talk with allies, and a few chapters in, you can also adopt animals you find on the map. I like the cats :]
-Wandering around the Somniel is comparable in spirit to the explore phase in 3h. I personally don't think that the actual spaces, the Somniel and Garreg Mach, are comparable enough to pit them against each other. Somniel feels sort of like a very expensive dollhouse, I think. I am very fond of the garden. There is a wisteria tree. :]
-There are activities/minigames you can do in Somniel that will have benefits for the next battle in the story. They unlock gradually as the story progresses. I kind of like things like that because it can help break up the story a bit.
Characters:
-I like Alear tbh. I picked m!Alear to play as and I think he's neat :]
-I don't have much to say about the supporting characters as a whole. There are a few that I do like! But if someone is particularly fond of the sort of social bonding that exists in 3h, they may be disappointed, as in my opinion, there's just simply not a lot of depth going on, but nonetheless there are some fun characters.
-Similar to some games pre-3h, you are thrown new units at a pretty constant pace, so if someone isn't performing well or you don't like them much it doesn't have to hold up the game as they can be replaced.
-I am...not a fan of a lot of the voice acting. There are definitely some that this doesn't apply to! But yeah. I'm trying to decide whether or not I want to continue with the eng voice-over or the jp one going forth honestly.
Misc:
-If you have the dlc you can dress up the characters a bit. I'm not personally fond of the outfits offered, BUT. BUT! You can give Alear an earring and tbh that's all that matters. To me.
-My general impression is that the game is pretty straight-forward. I don't think there's room for many different interpretations of events that go on.
-S Supports happen at the end of the game. There are platonic ones and romantic ones, but both Alears can choose to s support anyone.
-It's a bit cheesy in a fun way.
Overall:
I think that if you go into the game generally knowing what to expect, it's decent. So far, I haven't encountered any glitches, so it does get a fair amount of points in this day and age for not being a broken game on release 🤪 If you really enjoy turn-based strategy games in general, it will likely hold at least some appeal. If you are looking for something that is very similar to 3h in every way, you may find yourself disappointed. People who have played older entries in the franchise may get more out of this game, but not having played pre-3h games won't hinder anything. There are some elements of Engage that just don't do it for me personally, but I am still having fun despite that, and I wouldn't consider it bad. My absolute biggest gripe is how the general style looks.

Speaking from one artist to another, I saw a hurtful anon that insulted your artwork and that makes me angry for various of reasons — BECAUSE I'M A FUCKING ARTIST WHO WAS ONCE A BEGINNER (Sorry for my outburst, but I needed to get this off my chest)
Whoever sent you that without publicly giving you a positive constructive criticism or useful tutorials - they don't realize how beginning artists also exist. Art exist in many forms like illustration, digital, music, pictures and literatures. To call one art "shitty" isn't the best criticism to go around, but you can prove them wrong by asking them if they can do better OR you can keep on going to see how much love your art will receive that they'll stop giving awful comments. They can't stand a certain art style they don't like? Give tips and tutorials! Give kindness, and solutions. But I guess that'll be too much for them?
I never knew the Ninjago fandom was this toxic when people are calling some arts ugly. People have this weird but terrible mindset that certain art styles are better than the other. If the whole artists have the same art styles, it'd be pretty boring and repetitive to see, we'd rather have something new instead for a change. I love to see your art contributing for The Owl House fandom, welcome btw! I know people will love your art there and get more love and positivity. ^^
Thank you I am actually working on a Raine Whispers AU art piece for everybody from the Fanfic WIP I posted
The Song of the Owl Beast
That post really didn't bother me because of the shitty art comment(though it's understandable why it would upset other artists wish I could hug yall that would allow me)
It doesn't bother me because well I like my art and I know there's people out there that might like my art as well, just because a few people say that doesn't mean my art is bad itjust needs improved and I've always been actually quite like Eda (if we compare me to a character) people can throw things at me all they want but it takes a lot for me to be actually upset.
Like I always say, I'm only vocal when I'm actually upset over something. I'm silent when I'm not and it's okay,
I'm very proud of my style because I have a lineless art style that has taken me 4 years(ditched the lineart and sketch layer full time in 2019) to develop and learn and I'm still learning more about how to render it properly, but during this process I know it can be quite ugly. Especially when I'm doing my sketch layers before the rendering as you can see with Raine here I've gotten to that phase, and if I was to share it, it can look kind of uncanny valley haha
Tumblr media
I still have to trim the face back down and correct the nose and eyes in general,
What did bother me about that Anon more so was being accused of tracing my art, because there is no way one can trace my art well at least not easily... because there's no lines to trace.
My art style is very very unique in the sense that outright my style doesn't even have a sketch layer to copy. It's stupidly hard for somebody to trace this sort of style where the artist has learned anatomy enough where they can shape the color into the shape one needs like I do.
One can try, but if you don't have enough experience, it won't turn out looking right. Basically, the closest comparison I can put it to is like molding clay only digitally and 2d, so I need to make it look 3d.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Some anatomy practice fails haha)
I don't think there's anybody else.... at least that I've seen that does this type of style. But if there are people, I would love to know them, because honestly, I have felt alone with this certain art style and not really knowing what to call it or how to render. I know it's lineless, but the technique isn't like other lineless artists as they usually have sketch layers at least.
I appreciate the welcome into the fandom I've already felt very very welcomed just by the interactions I've already received, I haven't had my page this active in years, honestly all it took was me moving a fandom and I wish I had seen that sooner.
You guys really already have helped me in a way nobody else in the Ninjago fandom ever did and that's just opening my eyes even more to how toxic it unfortunately was, because this is all what I was just looking for is a supportive loving fandom that will accept me for all my crazy quirks and ideas.
You guys even got me to do my art and writing already! I hadn't felt inspired in weeks, especially after that retraumatizing event a couple of weeks ago,
I honestly was at the verge of quitting and then I started getting into Owl House and then on the Valana Alt, I started posting and my blog was so active right off the bat, something I again hadn't seen in years on this account. And then you wonderful anons came in telling me to keep going and I wanted to hug you and tell you thank you,
People are actually interacting with my posts, and here I've transferred over a few, and it doesn't matter to yall that I've double posted. You guys still reblog and like it. Some even make comments! And that for somebody like me who has been in a fandom situation where they didn't do that at all, that means the world to me guys honestly, and I will never be able to say it enough, you've already shown me support and love and for that again I can't say it enough
Thank you

I'm sorry I'm not hanging around here as I used to, my interests shifted a lot. I can't use my pc again and that somehow got me into drawing hetalia again (eh, just Ro).
But in case someone's been wondering, I've been writing fic ideas for another fandom (and also made art), ended up with 32 "summaries" short of, and had maybe two attempts at writing fanfic for a ship that I dislike now.... but anyways, I got frustrated that I still don't know how to write fics nor have I posted one ever, besides ideas or prompts.
And when I'm frustrated I end up doing nothing in the end.
I haven't forgotten about the Ro fics I was thinking to write, but can't help it that I have skill issues on that area.
.
You know sometimes I'd be thinking a cool scene not just a simple pose reference, and feel determined to draw it but without context it makes no sense and the context stay in my head cuz I can't write it 😭
I was also trying some comic attempts, where in addition I've had attempts on creating more simplistic art styles to draw faster (even cartoon style), didn't perfect anything on that yet. It's quite ironic that I'm trying to simplify my style when years before that I was figuring to make it more detailed huh.. but it's quite hard to menage more art styles, if I draw too much in one style then I forget how to draw with the other. And it happened right now when I drew romania again...
Other than that I wanted to render for once cuz I was getting tired of linearts so I had a few tries (and you won't see the monstrosities I made out of it)
And right now I feel empty, wonder what else can you do in a fandom besides drawing or writing?

Tumblr media
Considering his boyfriend managed to make it into Japan's Top 10 during his first year as a Hero, one couldn't really fault Atsumu for his skeptisism when the boyfriend in question wanted to take him out on a proper date.
(Their first one, to be precise; Heroes didn't exactly have a lot of free time, not to mention the fact that this particular one had started his own agency immediately after leaving HPSC's nest.)
"If you're worried about the public seeing me with you, I'll, uh, I'll get into disguise! And it could be quick!!" Keigo practically whined, doing his best to persuade the other, "And— And we can go somewhere super lowkey! Please, just let me do this for you..."
Atsumu only chuckled, shaking his head affectionately. "Of course I want to go out with you. I'm just.. trying to save your reputation, y'know," He hummed, "You only just started your very successful career, and I still have a year of training to do with the Commish before I get my Pro license."
The dirty blond deflated in response, "I know, but still. We're both pretty busy, but... I still wanna make time for you — us." He murmured slyly, tilting his head with faux innocence.
Shutting his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose, Atsumu let out a sigh, long and dramatic and exasperated beyond measure. When he took a peek to check on Keigo, the winged man seemed to have an air of pride eminating from him as he grinned knowingly.
"...God, you know I can't handle it very well when you get all romantic like this."
"Oh, I know, Atsu."
"Bah. Screw you." The brunet scoffed playfully as he shoved Keigo's shoulder.
After a moment of silent warfare, Atsumu eventually threw his head back in defeat, groaning ableit without genuine distress.
×
As it turned out, Keigo was a liar.
While he did indeed take Atsumu to somewhere 'lowkey,' he did not, in fact, wear a disguise. His justification for this was that this place was apparently so lowkey that the press couldn't have followed them — rendering the act of disguising himself useless anyway.
Fortunately for him, Atsumu gradually became distracted by the charm of the quaint little restaurant. He mused to himself as he scrutinized the indoor architecture of the cozy building.
The walls were designed using a relatively modern style, though heavily referenced by traditional Japanese interiors. The air smelled faintly of tonkotsu, while a gentle tune in the background complemented the natural quiet of the premises. The owners of the restaurant were a nice couple in their fifties, and upon some questioning, Atsumu found out that the current employees were family too.
The best part about this place was that they were lovely people who knew how to respect their customers' privacy — hence why Keigo was so calm about taking his significant other to a place with no paparazzi.
Atsumu seemed happy, and that made Keigo quite content as well.
Nice things couldn't last forever though, he realized as his date turned to him with a familiar, menacing smirk that was never accompanied by sincere nor sentimental remarks. Instead, Keigo got:
"You're treating me so nicely. Do you secretly have a heart of gold, Hawks-senpai?" Atsumu teased, a shit-eating grin on his face as orange eyes narrowed towards the other.
Keigo stifled a snort, "Cut that out, Atsu. I'm only a year older than you..." He shook his head, his lips forming a small smile however, "Plus, it's not 'Hawks' right now — I'm off-duty, remember?"
"Okey-dokey, Takami-senpai."
The dirty blond deadpanned in response.
Atsumu raised his palms in mock surrender, chuckling softly, "Alright, alright. I'm sorry, Kei. Thank you for bringing me here… It's a nice place." He glanced away with a small smile, a bit of red dusting his cheeks.
Keigo's turn.
The Hero sneered, partially leaning over the table, "Aw, are you embarrassed? Is my precious, beloved, treasured little lovebird getting shy now?"
"I'm going to give you a fracture that even I myself will be unable to fix, Keigo."
"How cute. But enough foreplay," He shook his head, laughing as he handed Atsumu a copy of the menu, "Their chicken teriyaki's great; very savory yet not overwhelmingly flavorful, not dry but not literal mush either. It's the closest thing to perfection." He stated with confidence, crossing his arms over his chest since he had already decided on his order.
The former giggled, "Didn't know I was dating a connoisseur. Fascinating," Humming, Atsumu squinted slightly, "It's like this is your one defining trait." He rolled his eyes at his own statement, knowing full well how incorrect it was.
"I would be offended, but you're damn right," Keigo's reply continued with the persona, however. Good decision — it was more fun that way. "You usually eat whatever diet goes well with your training regimen, which is… Well, you have the choice to.. not do that, but do you actually like the default stuff they feed us?" He raised an eyebrow, partially curious and partially mortified.
Atsumu shrugged, "Like you said, it's a.. decision. I don't really care, I guess? I haven't exactly developed a taste for anything particular since the Commission took me in, so…"
"Hm. Do you like fish?" Keigo asked, flipping through the menu once more.
"And why are you asking?" Atsumu responded lightheartedly, trying to sneak a look at whichever item Keigo was considering.
"It's our first date, c'mon! I want you to remember this experience as a good one!"
But Atsumu softened his gaze and smiled, "It's already a good one, Kei," He muttered, before waving his hand in dismissal. "Order whatever you think I'd like. Surprise me! I'm not allergic to anything."
×
"I am definitely allergic to that." Atsumu lied, staring desolately at the raw, pink fish meat that had arrived along with Keigo's teriyaki, a serving of gyoza, and two bowls of ramen.
After they both gave thanks for the meal, Keigo snickered, picking up his chopsticks. Using them, he pinched part of the wasabi before mixing it in with the shoyu that accompanied the fish. "You've never had sashimi before, Atsu?" He hummed, glancing at Atsumu.
"It's raw, Keigo—"
"I've seen you eat worse than uncooked fish," The young Hero blinked, unamused, picking up a single piece of the aforementioned dish and putting it up to Atsumu's scrunched up face. "C'mon, it's not that bad!"
"I don't know, okay, the.. the texture… The mouthfeel, y'know? It— It's raw fish! Like, actual raw fish with no seasonings at all!"
"Yes, Atsu, we've covered that already. It is raw, and it is fresh as hell. Open up."
At the other's resistance, Keigo huffed and retracted his arm, instead opting to dip his sashimi in the soy sauce and try again.
"Say 'ahh,'"
"I— mmh!"
In hindsight, Atsumu should have fully expected Keigo to resort to such vile means. The moment he opened his mouth, a cold slice of salmon found its way in. He glared daggers at the latter, who only grinned and quickly took some sushi for himself.
Atsumu chewed reluctantly, but was insistent on not spitting it out despite the foreign texture; he was a big boy, he could handle it.
And my god was it worth it.
"Holy shit… Kei…" He began, gingerly bringing his fingers to touch his lips as he savored the new, refreshing taste. "I'm in love." He didn't think he'd be professing his love for raw salmon (which, by the way, he'd only tried in that very moment) before his actual romantic partner, but there they were.
"Say no more — told you. I knew you'd like it." Keigo winked, his confidence well-deserved as Atsumu picked up another slice of fish with his own chopsticks and munching the dish away bit by bit to his heart's content.
And so the rest of their lunch date went on, smooth sailing from that point onwards. They both had quite a good time; with cementing that restaurant as 'their place,' and with Atsumu discovering his favorite food.
Not so bad for their first month together.

23/01/2021
Hey everyone! Time for the last tumblr update of January. It's been a busy two weeks, so here we go!
Summary:
Edited 6-7 CGs
Completed all Jack CGs, all Lance CGs and some Magnus CGs (So about 6 or so CGs completed)
Finished Quill Ch 2
Started revamping the glossary
Sent steam page for review
The Ramble:
First of all - CG edits.
I have been going back to tweak older CGs off and on for a while now and in the past couple of weeks I went back and edited quite a few CGs. In some cases the edits were because I didn't like the CGs, in other cases, I changed the scene up a little and had to make continuity fixes to things like character outfits. My style has shifted a bit since I first started the game as well and there were a few CGs where it was particularly noticeable, so I fixed those as well.
And in one case I noticed I just flat out forgot to shade one character's eyes. So I needed to fix that.
Eventually, even if I'm not totally happy with a CG, I do have to set it down and walk away and wash my hands of it because I cannot reasonably edit CGs forever. At some point a CG has to be "done." Sometimes I get to the point that I can't even tell if I'm fixing anything anymore or if it's flaws in new and exciting ways. LoL
Ultimately though I do want the CGs to be as good as they can be so I do revisit old CGs occasionally and have been doing that a lot in the last couple of weeks.
In addition to that I have completed all of Jack's remaining CGs, all of Lance's CGs and one (and a half) of Maggie's remaining CGs - he has two left to complete. One is about half finished - still need to finish rendering the characters in it.
The other is in a rough sketch state at the moment so the staging and composition are blocked in but I still need to do the final line art and colour it.
Then, of course, both of those have to be recoloured and coded.
Once these two CGs are done that is all of the CGs for the first release.
52 CGs. 8 per love interest + 1 of Morgan and 1 intro CG each for Yuu, Reuben, and Quill.
I have so many regrets (in terms of. . .deciding that this much work was something I could handle. Because it was something I could handle. But just. And with a lot of pain killers. And heat packs. And other treatments to get me through the very real pain I've inflicted upon myself.) But. . .ITS DONE (almost).
Moving on from CGs. . .
I also spent a day working on a new cover art for the game. I was setting up the steam page, which requires approximately 1.1 million images, each one with unique dimensions. (Thanks, I hate it.)
I just realised that using the sprite art really wasn't going to work for these images. I couldn't cram 9 love interests into the various "capsules" and "covers" and banners and headers. . .and Morgan's sprite alone just doesn't really give enough of an idea what this game is like.
So I really needed an image that was more versatile, more interesting than just Morgan's sprite.
So I made that. And then made my 1.1 million images with their annoyingly unique dimensions and uploaded them. And sent the page for review. Steam is always an adventure so we'll see how long it takes to get the page reviewed and set up. (I really just put in the basic information and may try to spruce it up later on. . .)
In regards to actual game development. . .
I have also been working on revamping the glossary screens and writing up some new glossary entries. Finishing the glossary is really going to be the next major thing I try to finish, I think. I still have a lot of other small polishing things (adding in some SFX and stuff) but the glossary is kind of the biggest remaining feature to finish. And I want to spruce it up a bit since what is there right now is. . .functional. But not necessarily what I want to have in the final game.
So that is on the horizon once I finish up the CGs. BUT will probably happen after I implement all the corrections the beta testers have offered up and sent out a new beta version with all the CGs in it so that we can verify they are working correctly.
Lastly, I have done some writing. Not a lot since I'm focused elsewhere, but I did finish Quill's second chapter and have started editing the outline for his third chapter so I can get started on that as well.
So yeah. Busy two weeks. But we are getting there.
Sneak Peeks and Previews:
Tumblr media
Upcoming Weeks:
I did want to be done with CGs by the time I posted this but I'm still 1.5 CGs away from completion. I didn't account for - editing a ton of CGs and doing new art for Steam, etc. I will definitely finish up CGs this week.
And then with those out of the way will have to really start focusing on detailed to-do lists so I don't forget any of the small things needing to be done.
Very close. My spreadsheet says we are ~98% of the way there.

Okay I can finally post about this AU me and @spirit-in-the-library have been working on like two cackling and scheming gremlins ❤
Who is ready for an Arranged Marriage!AU? :D This is gonna be a wild ride.
This is an idea I originally had for Ona and Connor but it didn't quite fit in what I had in mind, so I left it until I could find how to make it work. Then Eva and Erwin came and it clicked together perfectly 👌So, me and my friend @spirit-in-the-library humbly present this AU!
We got Erwin, Eva, Freyja (her OC, a total badass and I love her) and Levi all suited up for this adventure. I'll put a read more!
Eva comes from the kingdom of Gottesreich, a heavily religious and conservative kingdom where its King is always looking to expand territory and gain power, as well as bring the true word of God to the less advanced territories (he's a fucking asshole). It's a patriarchal monotheistic religion culture and kingdom, and definitely has some Adam and Eve-style enforced gender dynamics ingrained into the culture.
This reflects heavily whenever she is in front of other men and also of high status; she never speaks, only if asked and even in such situations she's afraid to give her opinion, conditioned to not do that by her father. To their eyes, Eva is the perfect Princess, her strict governess and her own father made sure of that. She knows how to act, what to say, what not to say, how to elegantly walk and bow, even has diplomatic knowledge, since she travelled quite often with her brothers when they had to do their own diplomatic missions. She's the perfect asset to any Kingdom and her father knows it pretty well, she's valuable and he has to gain something big in return of trading her.
So, this leaves Eva who has practically no self-steem or sees her own value but to be a bargaining chip, and it's heartbreaking. When Erwin sees her and gets to know her a little bit better, he knows she has a curious and inquisitive mind too, her eyes shine with intelligence when she thinks no-one is looking. She has a lot to say on her mind but years of toxic parenthood and the Kingdom's twisted values makes her keep her mouth shut, head bowed down.
The cultural shock between Eva's culture and Erwin's tribe renders Eva speechless. Men and women are equal, women can do whatever they want, can be warriors, and also worship three benevolent Goddesses (Maria, Rose and Sina), deeply respect nature and try to maintain balance and harmony the best of their capabilities. Eva's mind is blown.
Erwin is the Chief of the proud Warriors of Eldia, often labelled as demons by their enemies who have faced them in battle. They are depicted as blood-thirsty horned devils who have no mercy, when this couldn't be farther from the truth. Erwin is proud of his people, so he's the perfect example of the true poise and demeanour of a proud warrior. Kind of following the canon, he's extremely intelligent and clever, respected by his warriors and people, and is always scheming huge and even intricate plans, making his famous big gambles (like making an alliance with Eva's brother's to help them overthrow their corrupt father and keep their sister safe under the pretence of a marriage ;D). People often think Eldia is only a tribe of savages, but they couldn't be more wrong about it. They want to be left in peace and do their thing without being bothered.
He makes a personal vow to bring Eva to her fullest self, angry at the way they wilted a beautiful flower from its full bloom. Erwin acknowledges her intelligence and vehemently wants to know her opinion on things, strategies and the village's concerns.
Still with the Eldians, Levi is Erwin's right hand man, the second in command, and is not afraid to speak his mind and call on Erwin's bullshit quite often. He's crass and harsh, but deeply cares for the tribe and its people. He is small compared to other Eldian males, but he compensates with a sturdy body and almost insane reflexes and agility. He's fast, precise and terrifying with a sword. He makes a perfect assassin if needed, but also a fearsome warrior that has nothing to envy the big bulls they have in their army as soldiers.
He is also in charge of training troops, and often barks at the brats (the 104th) to stop being idiots and train like Maria is on their asses.
And at last, Freyja! Gottesreich decided to expand territory and colonise and annex the neighbouring villages and small kingdoms, and one of them was Freyja's one. She survived and fled, ending up as a refugee at the tribe of warriors of Eldia where they gave her food and a roof, but not after Erwin pulling strings to keep her head on her shoulders; he recognised her value as a warrior herself after taking down several of his men, and it would be a pity to lose such an asset. Freyja is terrifyingly good when teamed up with Levi, although they bicker and bite at each other constantly.
But she won't forget the absolute massacre carried on her people because Eva's father deemed heretics those who wouldn't convert. So, she's quite bitter towards Eva, and refuses to be her bodyguard and teacher of Eldia's culture and language when she is appointed as such by Erwin. They start a very rocky path but they become inseparable at the end.
WHEW CONGRATS ON FINISHING READING ALL THIS! We got many things planned and I'm already writing things 👀
I hope you like it!
Enjoy! :D

I keep having this really dumb idea in my head of like... overly long undertale style genocide run? But in a setting specifically constructed in such a way to keep the serial escalation of it going without derailing/diluting the thematics. I dunno if it's a particularly good idea but since one of Everhood's songs put another fight concept into my head for it I decided I might as well post the original idea that came with it here to tumblr.
Steps echo down a ruined corridor, worn down by calamity and time both. At the far end, a figure slouches against a pillar, notices the newcomer, and stands up straighter to face them.
"Hey there. Didn't expect someone to make it this far.
Let alone for that someone to be you, of all people.
Guess this is the part where I give my little speech, yeah? That's usually how these things go.
There's a line I've heard said, quite a few times in fact. It goes something like…
'Do you believe that even the worst person, no matter how horrible, can change if they just try?'
I've always considered it a tacky line but in the end, I believe it. The answer was 'yes' for me after all…
But here's the thing, buddy.
After a certain point, the question stops being "can this person change" and starts being "how many people will they hurt if we give them that chance again".
Because a person can change, no matter how horrible… but only if they decide to.
And you've been given more chances than anyone could possibly earn at this point.
Some people would draw a line in the sand and dare you to cross it.
Not me. You've already crossed every line that mattered.
Some people would give you one last chance to drop your weapon and surrender.
But you already killed them all while their guards were down.
And some people are like you. Ruthless, cold, downright psychotic.
I'd say it turns out they were right but uh, you didn't really leave any of them lying around either did you?
So I'm gonna ask this question one, final time. Just for nostalgia's sake. Back when there were beautiful days outside, when there were flowers left to bloom and birds left to sing.
Are you ready to have a bad time?
Because you don't get a choice anymore, as far as you've come down your path the only thing left waiting for you is the worst time of your life.
NOW STAND STILL AND DIE LIKE THE CREATURE YOU ARE."
The newcomer - no, the challenger - steps forwards instead, sending an attack towards the figure at the end of the hall. The strike is rendered harmless.
"Yeah, I figured that would be your response. Let's get started then, shall we?"
The defender begins his own assault, attempting a pace to keep the challenger from launching their retort.
"You know, it's kinda funny. Looking at you, you don't look like the kind of person that would be responsible for everything happening."
A gap in the onslaught, another quick and precise strike, followed by the defender resuming his barrage.
"Hey now, that's not a jab at your height. I don't waste jokes on an audience like you. Just a statement of fact, ya know?"
Another opportunity, another missed shot.
"If it weren't for all the bloodstains and equipment stolen from the corpses of people better than you, I'd think you were just some poor sod looking for their way back home."
A gap, a strike. The pattern is established.
"Wherever your home was, it's probably not there anymore. A lot of homes aren't there anymore, thanks to you.
Doesn't that bother you? That wherever you started you can't go back? That everyone you might have ever cared about in whatever times and places you could've been…
Are just gone? Vanished? Obliterated so thoroughly that even we can't bring them back?
Look, kid. I don't know what your deal is. I know you by reputation alone, and even if my job is dealing with 'problems', I was really hoping I wouldn't wind up here. With you.
But every single one of them, even the psychopaths bent on breaking everything over their knee…
They still had something they wanted to see through. Something they wanted to protect, even if it was just their own sorry hides.
I look in your eyes, in your past, I see nothing. Oh, I see a house, and parents, maybe friends. But I don't see anything real. Real to you. It's like you've erased it, severed all your own ties on a conceptual level.
It's almost like you're just as gone as everything you've taken away."
Something changes. The strike lands a little closer, shaving off something small, insignificant. The constant barrage of destruction falters.
"...That fast huh? Go on, do it again. I dare you, kid."
Another strike. Another impossibly near miss.
"I didn't think you'd actually be dumb enough to do it. Guess my little ramble actually paid off yeah? Now I know exactly what you are. Approximately."
Another strike. This time the sound of it hitting the far wall seems to shake the very foundation of the world itself. And then the room fills with death.
"Let's see how you deal with phase two, buster."
The pattern resumes, just with more noise and violence.
"You know, I really don't know why I'm still talking to you. A friend of mine would tell me to stop wasting my energy…
But, you know, it calms my nerves. Pretending I'm talking to a real person.
Now, I'm sure you know the whole catastrophe, inside and out. You were right at the heart of it after all.
To get things straight though? You got lucky. We were busy, other problems were cropping up, and it didn't look like you were the threat you are until suddenly everything was collapsing.
And with what you are… do you think maybe in another branch of causality we could've maybe been coworkers? Maybe friends?
You've got the moxie to be one of us, I'll tell you what. A bit lacking on the 'morals' side of things though.
Guess it doesn't matter anymore. Even if I, if we, stop you dead in your tracks, in a way you've already won.
Can't go back from where we are now after all…
Speaking of 'not being able to go back', I'm getting a little bit tired of this endless back and forth. What do you say I… speed things up a little?"
Abruptly the pace picks up, what was already an assault leaving so little untargeted space it was frankly unreasonable that the challenger had gotten this far - and gotten this far unscathed no less - becomes an unrivaled, personally targeted cataclysm.
"...You know, even knowing what your deal is... watching you brush off one of my best tricks like it's a laser pointer is infuriating."
The challenger lashes out, a set of frantic, angry strikes that are abruptly cut short by a resumption of hostilities from the defender.
"So you know what? I'll take a turn at your game. Go ahead, hit me with your best shot before I can charge up something better. Let's see how this goes for you."
The hall is silent for the briefest of moments, before the challenger lets loose the first noise they've made throughout the entire confrontation; an infernal, blood-curdling shriek. Power ripples through the hallway, searing away pieces of it in a barrage of strikes meant to bring gods to their knees.
Everything freezes. The challenger, the collapsing hall, everything but the defender.
"Wow, you're really ready to have this be over with, aren't you? I'm sure you almost got me, try harder next time and I'm sure you'll get to see what comes after."
There's a crunch and a soft cry of pain. The challenger is forced to their knees.
"I've got a little piece of advice for you though, assuming you haven't gotten it from me already."
Another crunch, a steady pace of dripping liquid can be heard.
"Your little 'quest' doesn't end with me. I'm just the wake-up call. If you get past me somehow, things are gonna get a whole lot worse for you than you realize. You might wanna turn back now before things actually get ugly."
There's no sound besides the slow drip of blood to the floor of the ruined hall. Or something approximating blood at least.
"Now get lost."
GAME OVER
...You aren't getting rid of me that easily.
>RETRY
