warnings/notes: completely sfw thoughts on knivesxhuman reader and one of his sisters who is a bit more sentient than the rest, and the bond between her and reader. she gets plantnapped twice, once away from reader, and twice being by her brother Nai. its not completely fleshed out and some things need to be changed but idc, its just some snippets, thotz, and ideas, plus a new tag!

this idea has been living rent-free in my head for awhile now...knivesxreader, the reader being a human orphan(the last human alive in their town for one reason or another) who had/has a v special connection with an eccentric Plant. she(the Plant) looks and acts exactly like her sisters, can't speak and is a source of power, etc except she is slightly more sentient than them, being able to form simple emotional attachments similar to a child to a bunny rabbit they see at a pet store, except it's much longer lasting because she took care of reader to the best of her ability, being unable to survive outside her special container. its like an elephant's memory. you save them, and they remember you the rest of their life.

Her name is Magic(or any other name you'd prefer, Magic bc as a child reader thought the glowing lights beneath her skin was magic) courtesy of reader.

Another thought...if Magic was stolen from reader, who was left to die and was eventually picked up by knives, and many years later knives unknowingly reunites them. reader made a point to always be there to welcome knives back when he had returned from retrieving his sisters hoping that Magic was still alive, and reader knows it's Magic the moment they lay eyes on her.

So imagine his surprise when reader yells out Magic, approaching far too close without a thought. His surprise when he hears his sister react and sees her bloom for a human.

its like an elephant's memory. a human child in their innocence genuinely tried to take care of her, and she tried to take care of the human child in turn.

His surprise when the lights beneath her skin flare giddily as she presses her hands against the glass, then her forehead.

His surprise that he finds himself falling in love with reader the moment they mimic her tender, affectionate actions; a show of hers and your bond.

And when he hears it. When he hears his sister who was used and abused by humans had technically adopted a human(similar to how humans adopt animals and take care of them if u squint bc i dont like any form of cest, e.g step, in, plant)...he falls harder. Because he believes from that moment on that the reader is the purest. Far too pure for their kind.

And they are; the tears of happiness from them and the display of joy from his sister when he makes arrangements for the two to live as close to eachother as possible proves it.

i honestly have not watched the broadway version but i think i've mentioned it before that i dont want to put in rasputin's whole deal in this au. and i don't want to follow the animated movie to the letter either because then a lot of things won't make sense. i just say anastasia au because i like the deal with vash losing his memories and trying to find home. and kni's desperation to find vash again. which i think fits canon in a way. also wolfwood's there too lol

this is the deal. knives and vash aren't princes. they're something like independent plants here too but the royal family takes care of them bc they're a hot commodity and this is the royal family's way to keep their little kingdom in control. when knives found out, he staged a coup to overthrow the royal family (this is this au's equivalent to the big fall) and in that power vacuum, knives plans to take back control and use his powers for the ppl however he sees fit. all this planned with vash ruling by his side in mind.

but with all the chaos happening in the palace, you know how it went down lol.

i have this scene in my head, to prepare and test vash for a lavish lifestyle and how to meet and socialize with high society, they (wolfwood and co) crashed a party with vash in tow. it's all going great and vash is having a blast and wolfwood's falling in love but then they didn't expect that knives was gonna be there.

kni shows up just before the end of the party and they hightailed it out of there because wolfwood and co. didn't think vash was ready to meet knives yet bc they haven't schooled him about the royal family's history or something. but knives caught a glimpse of vash as they were leaving.

vash looked different but kni moved through the crowd before he could even think. elendira calling for him back is not processing in his head at all.

when vash turned a corner, kni started running and when he passes through the open doorway leading to the gardens he doesn't see him.

i want this to be the moment kni finally decides that he doesn't want to see any more of those 'impersonators'. those people claiming to be vash. he's like 'oh god im seeing things now?!'

honestly the scene could have gone either with kni doubling his efforts to find vash but i want him to be just so heartbroken that he's like 'i dont give a shit anymore' hahahah!

Hey there! Sorry to bother you but I remember you specifically talking about it/its pronouns and how actually theyre not dehumanizing at all (saw lots of people with this belief and many medias that portray it as such) but sadly my dash refreshed and I havent been hable to find your posts about it.

You kind of opened a third eye for me? And I wanted to know more if you feel like explaining it again or link some of your posts

(Im sorry if this sounds rude im genuinely interested, im autistic and just writing this was pretty hard. Im gonna thank you in advance if you ll take the time to answer this, but ill understand if you dont feel like /gen)

not rude! unfortunately posts about pronouns arent one of the things i strictly catalog, so you could try looking through my #pronouns tag but there isn't much there, so there's no guarantee you'll find the specific post you're looking for.

i did likely tag a post like that with something like #queer or #trans but i have so many posts and reblogs tagged those things- I'm not sure it'd be worth your time to comb through them. I also wasnt aware any post I'd made about pronouns had been reblogged so idk if i could find whichever one might've been reblogged recently.

uuuuuhh for a quick rundown of my thoughts i guess I'd say:

using it/its pronouns is GENERALLY dehumanizing to most people because it's a way to show people that you think very little of them, that you're comparing them to something *less than human*

Of course this functions within the idea that "human" is inherently better or higher in the hierarchy than "animal" or "plant" which isn't inherently true- but that's its own post.

so you're being misgendered or de-gendered as a show of disrespect/contempt.

HOWEVER. if someone WANTS to use it/its then all of that kind of flies out the window. how is that disrespectful, it's just your actual pronouns. it can't be dehumanizing if the person in question doesn't consider it dehumanizing, or doesn't consider being non-human less dignifying, or a dozen other potential reasons that person feels comfortable with it/its.

like some of us know that our overlapping identities make us less than human to a lot of people already, so why bother trying to insist you're included in a version of humanity that CLEARLY wasn't made to fit you (we talked about this a lot in my black readings class last year, about how, like, a lot of modern concepts of what it meant to be a human were created to kind of intentionally strip black people of the "human"/"person" status.)

so like if I'm already a monster and a freak and inhuman why does it matter if I use human pronouns or not.

and there's prolly more i could say but I should get back to my homework now, hah.

who got custody of the killing bat when they sold the house?: Carl; totally takes it to the ' new alibi ' and threatens people with it. I want my answer to be Mickey. the things that befall cavaliers by ThatAloneOne: 1k, short and sweet in that rip your heart out way. gideon and harrow from the end of gtn are time-looped back to the beginning of the events while theyre still on the ninth. i wanna read a 40k fic with this premise now

Midnight at the Mithraeum by zoicite; 66k, harrow is the manager of a speakeasy, gideon works at a casino, they hate each other and wake up married. literally what more could you ask for. i love realistic relationship development and even though they are very stupid and bad at communicating i adore them

Cake by the Ocean by zoicite: 15k, same author!! gideon bargains her voice for human legs after she saves harrow from drowning. it goes just about as well as you imagine it would go but its hilarious

The Furnace of You by Cypseloides: 67k, post htn (not nona compliant) where harrow, gideon and cam(and pal) end up escaping from the mithraeum. the summary reads angst. dramatiques. kissing. and theyre right its all of that but theres also camilla being incredible. palamedes being just as great. and most importantly, gideon getting some LOVIN

blue gray green lavender by smolranger: 29k, harrow and gideon are forced to work together to participate in a sailing race. this made me want to learn how to sail, which is the highest possible compliment i can pay a fic-you made me wanna learn something. thats incredible. i love it. the amount of detail in it is so good to read and the griddlehark is just. chef's kiss. excellent work

What do you think Sasuke would major in? I see philosophy, maybe politics ? I feel like he'd grow up to be very opinionated about politics and stuff, like if we keep the kinda canon pipeline hole would be from a minority ethnic groupe , also I feel like he'd be into climate activism or maybe something to do with animal research, like on reptilian species at risk of extinction... Maybe even literature? He strikes me as a very well read individual who actually enjoys art and literature in general especially historical and cultural heritage pieces ... Overall I really never understood why so many people put him in the engineering or economy party ? Other than the famous " to work fory parents firm even this I am not passionate about this " trope ..

okay im gonna start being honest that i dont have this as well thought as you and my tags were just more jokingly because business major sasuke is so overused when nothing about sasuke gives the impression he would major in that but yeah.

but in general i dont judge much the major they give him because the problem with sasuke is that its such a character that its soooo difficult to take away from canon and put into a random modern universe setting to me. like sasuke's whole personality is based on te events that happened to him but if we take sasuke out of the narutoverse and into a modern au when the massacre of his people doesnt happen or hes isnt raised in a system where hes meant to be used as a tool who would he be?? like sasuke its even more difficult than naruto who we see having hobbies like growing plants at his place or just loving eating ramen etc. most of sasuke's actions in canon are directed to his arc because thanks to itachi's influence sasuke made killing his brother his life goal but also his whole focus (which is really sad to think of). even in the databooks is listed that sasuke eats healthy and his favorite things are stuff like training, this all obviously is because his mind is mostly focused in how to get stronger all the time. thats why my favorite type of fics are (or were since i dont read much these days) the ones where they explore sasuke in his travels post war where he has an opportunity to breath and find things he likes to do. i feel like naruto would teach him about gardening especially if he gets to grow tomatoes and all.

but again in a modern au its just difficult to see sasuke i think something with animals would be nice and he does seem fond of animals in canon. literature too, since sasuke is known to be smart i think he would enjoy it. i dont know about politics, i can see him having very strong opinions but not really majoring in it (unless we translate the uchiha massacre to the modern au too then yeah hes plotting the entire goverment and country's fall who knows)

i also dont like that trope of sasuke doing a major hes not interested because pressure from his parents. i would probably like it more if they added the fact that its not just sasuke doing things to get praise from his parents (although in canon its just his dad he wants the praise from since w mikoto this isnt shown) but also because of him feeling less because itachi. like i feel ppl forget that yeah sasuke loves his brother endlessly but even before the massacre he had his issues because itachi seemed to be great at everything which imo gives their dynamic more naunce

anyways sorry i got carried away from the actual question and that i couldnt give u an answer im not usually into modern aus especially when it comes to naruto because i feel like a lot of meaning in the dynamics and characterization gets lost

anyhow, i don't remember what its called, but ill definitely try to look it up! it was at our library a few years ago. okay, dont judge, but if im honest, i love artemis but i also have something against minorly against her. ummm i also dislike poseidon and zeus somewhat. those two are womanizers and i hate how poseidon abandoned poor medusa

ummm arghhh i keep forgetting what's next. i... puppets, right? i think so. well i do really like them, and dolls for the same reason! i absolutely adore dolls, and. kind of see myself as one, if that makes sense? i dont know T.T

sunflowers are absolutely lovely! the squirrels and birds kept planting them because of our old bird feeder, which was fun. random sunflowers among our lovely front yard garden. oh! also i love weed flowers! like dandelions and such, they're so good for bees and i... love bees. plus they make our yard so so beautiful. and i reallllyyyy love nature so so much, i get very excited about it. i love animals and plants to death

had so much fun writing the first scene dude... i feel like as a fanfic writer its a sin i haven’t written anything like it yet lmfaoo (to be fair i probably have but I just dont rem💀) anyways i hope you enjoy!

It was always peaceful in the tundra right before the sun set. Not only did the orange and red colours that reflected off the shiny snow send a wave of tranquility through the lands. It was a specific time where all the animals would go back into their homes before the mobs spawned at night fall, leaving the lands in complete silence.

Phil loved working at this time, getting small tasks done around the house that he wasn’t able to do throughout the day. Whether it was washing the dishes or dusting out the book shelves. Maybe even lounged around near the fireplace, planning out what he had to do the next day. It was always quiet, void of distractions to keep him from doing them.

But of course, with peace always came chaos.

“YOU CHEATED!”

“NO I DIDN’T!”

“YES YOU DID!”

The door cracked open, slamming against the wall behind it making the blonde jump from the sudden noise. He was ready to pick up his sword by his side until he recognised the voices of his house mates, shouting like little children.

Phil sighed, continuing to wash the dishes in front of him. While the bickering tended to amuse him at times, right then he just wanted to stay in the silence. He was quick to grab a pear of earplugs from his chest, pushing them snugly into his ear, blocking out the noise you both brought into the house while humming a small tune.

“There’s no way that your horse is faster that Carl! That’s just not possible!” Techno shook his head, his entire body still except for his left foot tapping consistently on the floor, “It’s just not possible.”

“Okay-” you pointed your finger in his face, “First off, her name is Raven and secondly, you just can’t admit that she’s better than Carl.” you crossed your arms on your chest, looking up at the piglin with teasing eyes.

Tech threw his head back with a groan, turning around gruffly and taking off his cape along with the skull mask covering his face.

“I won’t admit it because it isn't true!” he turned back to face you, mimicking your stance and tilting his head slightly to the side.

You raised your eyebrows at his response, nodding slowly, “Alright, alright,” you slowly took of your cloak, bunching it up and throwing it at him, his reflexes catching it before the fabric hit his chest, “Maybe it’s just the ridder and not the horse.”

Techno gasped, “You take that back.” he threw your cloak to the side.

You hummed, looking up and faking a thinking face, “Nah... I don’t think I will, I said what I said.” you stepped closer to the hybrid, sizing up his figure, “And what are you going to do about it?”

Techno squinted his eyes, a small smirk making its way to his face before he grabbed you by the waist, throwing you over his shoulder and walking away from the entrance into the living room.

“Hey!” You pounded at his back, wiggling in his tight grip, “Put me down you loaf!”

He laughed at your words but obliged, throwing you on the couch near the fireplace. Before you could sit up, he crawled over your form, knee besides one side of your waist with his other foot planted on the floor, keeping him steady hovering over you.

“Techno-” you chuckled nervously, trying your best not to stray away from his intense gaze, fighting the heat starting to rise to your face. Your hands pushed at his chest, weakening when he brought his face closer to yours, making you feel smaller than you already were.

He didn’t say anything, instead his fingers dug into your stomach, wiggling them across the fabric of your shirt. Your laugher filled the air, high pitched and bouncing off the walls of the cottage. You tried your best to control them, not wanting to give in to the blood god’s actions so quickly. But your hands on your stomach did nothing to stop his.

“Oh. My. God! Techno! Stop you fucking- oh god!”

“Take it back Y/n!” he laughed along with you, continuing his assault on your stomach, “Take it back or I swear to god you’re going to loose a canon life from being too ticklish.”

“NEVER!” you shouted between laugher, screaming when his hands began to move faster, knocking the breath out of your lungs. In the heat of the moment, he took your wrists into his fist, pinning them above your head, keeping your hands from interfering with his plans.

“Say. It.” even with one hand we was doing enough to keep you squirming underneath him, desperate for an escape.

“Okay! Okay! You- You’re a good rider Techno! You’re a good rider!” you finally admitted, your body falling limp against the cushions when he finally raised his fingers from your stomach.

Techno laughed at your state, leaning back with a cocky smirk on his face, “Glad to know we could come to an agreement,”

“I hate you,” you mumbled, your head rolling to the side on your shoulder as you caught your breath. You closed eyes in relief that the past few minutes were over, nearly falling asleep with the amount of energy you spent laughing.

Techno chuckled, taking your chin into his fingers, turning your head to look back at him, “Is that so?”

You nodded, fluttering your eyes open to look up at the pink haired man. Your breath hitched when you noticed how close his face was to yours. His entire presence felt suddenly close, his chest puffed out with long breaths, his legs practically tangled with yours, his face hovering over you, radiating heat you didn’t notice while he was tickling you. You watched as his face lit up red, his piglin ears straightening out of the side of his head, probably taking in the proximity as well.

Techno wasn’t one to get flustered often, but when he did it was always with the people he cared about. He trusted them enough to let that blood god persona he put on fade away leaving behind his shy, nerdy side you always adored. The side of techno who would read by the fireplace with Steve sat snuggly in his lap, the Techno who would spend hours trying to fix his glasses that broke constantly in his strong grip only having to craft a new one. The Techno who would grumble about compliments from you and Phil but the subtle spread of pink across his face told everyone otherwise. The Techno you grew to love the more and more he let you it.

He began to get a lot more playful with you as you friendship grew. When you moved in with him out in the snow it only increased drastically. It wasn’t out of the ordinary for the both of you to end up in this position or something similar to it (like the time he pinned you down during training), but he would always stop before things got too intimate and while it hurt, you’ve grown to accept it. You were glad to be his friend, his companion. You would take his friendship over not knowing him at all any time of the day.

You waited for him to pull back. To stand up and dust off his clothes, offering you his hand to pull you up with him and continue that night like normal. But he stayed, his dark, dull eyes staying down at you with a shine you’ve never seen up close before.

Techno didn’t know what to do either. He didn’t know what was prompted him to stay in this position, the sudden confidence that pushed him to keep his hand on your face, his lips so close to yours. Maybe it was the voices in his head, annoyed with the constant stares and thoughts of adoration when you rode Raven around in the snow, your cape flowing beautifully behind you, face showing nothing but pure joy. They were relentless, calling him out on every emotion he was feeling because of you.

He wanted to move for your sake, he was the one on top of you in the first place, pinning you down. You were probably being polite not shoving him off of you, even if you’ve never done it before, he just always pulled away before you could. But he couldn’t, his muscles stiff and unable to move.

A small part of his brain told him you wanted this too, but he ignored it for his own sanity.

“Techno-” you whispered but before you could continue, the hybrid immediately took the single word as a protest, finally letting go of your hands but keeping his body close.

“Shit I’m sorry that- that was probably a bit much.”

You giggled softly, “No- uh, it was fine tech, no worries,”

He looked down at your bright smile glowing in his face.

“You’re really beautiful Y/n,” he whispered, letting the rough pads of his fingers trail down the side of your face, blushing when you nudged them with your cheek, accepting the comfort.

“You think so?” you whispered back, looking up at him with doe eyes.

“I-” he started, his breath hot against the tip of your nose as he glanced down to your lips, quickly looking back into your eyes. Why weren’t you moving? Why weren’t you cringing, laughing at the thought of ever kissing him?

“You- Do you want this.” you whispered, letting his thumb pull down at your bottom lip, watching as the plush skin softly bounced back.

He nodded, shivering when you tangled your fingers into his pick curls, pulling his face down and nudging your nose against his. He closed his eyes, a small, cute snort coming from the back of his throat at the affection.

“Then what are you waiting for?”

“FUCK!”

You jumped at the sudden curse, Techno falling off of you and on to the floor besides the couch. Before you could process what just happened, the curse sounded again followed by a crash, both of your senses on high alert when you realised it was Phil’s voice coming from the kitchen. You rushed to grab your weapons from nearby, quickly pulling yourself together on the fact that your friend was in trouble.

You both ran as fast as you could, Techno in front of you with his sword drawn while you were behind loading your cross bow with an arrow. He barged into the kitchen, holding his blade in the air, ready to attack but all he was met with was a pair of wings slapping him in the face.

You dove under the large feathers, bumping the winged man to alert him of your presence.

“Oh... hey guys!” He smiled, taking out something from his ears and resting them on the kitchen counter. He sent a pointed look to the weapons in your hands, crossing his arms over his chest in confusion, “Why the weapons?”

“Are you alright?” Techno said, rubbing his nose from the hit.

“We heard you scream, thought you were in trouble.”

Phil chuckled nervously, “Sorry, my bad,” he turned around to face the both of you, “I just dropped a plate.”

You and Techno let out an audible sigh, dropping your weapons to the floor with a clank. You didn’t know how many times your heart could deal with the sudden bursts of adrenaline. Walking up to Techno, you took his hand away from his face, inspecting the soft red mark across his face from the whip of feathers. No matter how small the attack, you always made sure to check up on him, even when he didn’t need it.

But with your delicate touch came memories of the events that just happened

“Were- were you here the entire time?” Techno said hesitantly, looking up at his father with worried eyes. You took in his words, immediately pulling away from the hybrid, ignoring his small noise of protest.

“Yes, but i put in some ear plugs,” he pointed to them on the counter.

“Oh!” you piped in, “That’s- That’s good.”

“Was there something I missed?” he crossed his arms over his chest, looking at the both of you curiously.

“Nothing!” You both shouted at the same time, chuckling nervously.

“Okay?” Phil dragged out, pointing back to the sink, “Well, I’ll just-”

“Yeah! You- uh, get to that phil,” you began walking backwards, bounced into the edge of the counter. You played off the pain with a quick thumbs up and walking quickly out of the kitchen, mumbling curses under your breath.

“Are they alright mate?” Phil asked his son who seemed to be lost in his own world, staring at the spot you were once in, “Techno?”

“I- what?” He shook his head, “Uh, yeah- they’re,” he let out a small sigh, letting his hand pass over his face, “Yeah, they’re fine.”

“Are you alright?”

Techno didn’t respond for a while, stuck in his own thought. Phil turned to his son, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder, “Tech?”

“I think-” He let out a shaky breath, “I think I love them.”

Couple ideas im playing with here. One is its funny how in so many fics and headcanons mystery is this all powerful kitsune...when really weve seen nothing saying he is. Hes just kinda big. We havent seen him use any magic outside of shapeshifting. He gave some tastey magic blood to grow shiros forest, but that seems like some kind of dark blessing

Other idea is Lewis sucks at keeping all plants alive lol. So he bribes mystery to bless his house plants (no blood magic involved)

Humility by Gorillaz (feat. George Benson)

Summary: Even though he's a big city boy himself, Josuke Higashikata still agreed to go camping with you and your dad. Learning in the process that camping isn't as easy as you usually make it sound. However, its during the trip that he discovers something. A new set of feelings for you start clouding his mind.

A/N: this was also inspired by the recent camping trip I had with a fre friends a few weeks back.

Warnings: none.

People were usually surprised by how close Josuke and you were. Considering the both of you were so different. Sure, for two people who basically grew up together, you were very different.

Growing up, you constantly went camping with your father, since he was a botanist. Even though now a days he worked as a teacher in City S's University, he missed his researcher days when he'd go on field trips to research plants. And so, during school breaks, he'd go camping for a few days and take you along into the most recondite places in the middle of nowhere.

While you grew up spending a lot of time in the wild, you grew to be a bit feral and adventurous. Curious of the tiny details nature had to offer, with a lot of knowledge about plants, how to light a fire, how to climb, you were very much like a wild animal yourself. You kept your appereance always simple and practical and despite liking being clean, you didn't really mind if you got dirty.

Josuke on the contrary, was a city boy, despite living in the small town of Morioh. Always looked after his appereance, always clean, always smelling nice. Josuke was a smart kid, no doubt, but when it came to survival skills, he had none, since he usually took many things for granted because he was raised always withing the limits of Morioh.

In the summer before starting highschool, as per usual, your dad planned out a camping trip with a couple of his friends from college. They usually brought their kids along, with whom you got along with, but neither of them lived in Morioh. However, this time, your father told you you could bring a friend with you.

But boy, poor Josuke Higashikata didn't know what he had gotten himself into. He though it was gonna be different, considering how you always spoke so excitedly about your camping trips with your dad.

Its not that he didn't have fun. But it was all too complicated. Sleeping on the floor, not having a mirror and having to style his hair from muscle memory. The cold at night was something he never had lived through, his hands freezing as he tried to eat his very simple dinner, as the small group of people gathered around a small fire.

"So, what's the plan for tomorrow?" You asked your father, sitting next to you as he took a big sip of his beer.

"We're gonna go to Sendai, we want to visit the Tama River, probably take a swim there" Your dad said.

"Oh nice!" Kenta, a boy around your age sighed. "I love the Tama river!"

"Sendai? Oh gee, where are we?" Josuke whispered low enough so only you could listen.

"Not sure. But it doesn't matter. When we go to Sendai, we stay a night in some cabins with hot water and beds"

"Oh thank god. I really need a shower. And a roof above my head" Josuke sighed relieved.

"Youre such a city boy" you giggled as Josuke felt a blush creep on his cheeks.

"Yeah, camping its not my thing. I am having fun though" Josuke admitted.

"Thank you for coming here. And I'm sorry I dragged you out of the city" You muttered back, looking at your friend underneath your lashes.

"Hey, don't apologise. I am having fun. You dont get to see landscapes this beautiful in Morioh. Besides, I get to spend time with you, thats ways fun" Josike added apologetically, windering if you felt offended in some way.

It wasnt all that bad, he thought. The cold weather had him sharing a blanket with you. The two of you snuggled together, sharing a blanket. And for the first time, Josuke noticed a different glow in your face.

"Thank you, Josuke" You spoke after a few seconds of silence, resting your cheek on his shoulder and snuggling closer to him as he swore he felt you shiver and tightening the blanket around your shoulder.

Josuke mirrored your movements, getting closer together so the warmth between your bodies helped you stop shivering.

The way you seemed so comfortable in nature, how you breathed in so deeply l every now and then, and how you were quick to day dream while staring at the landscape. He always thought you were objectively a pretty girl, but seeing you like this, he wondered if you had always being this pretty.

Josuke's favorite part of the camping trip was indeed spending the night at a cabin your dad and his friends rented. The first thing he did was take a hot shower while everyone else gathered around a fire outside the cabin exchanging stories of all natures while a friend of your dad cooked dinner.

However, the hot shower was nowhere near close his new favorite experience of the trip compared to when you swam in the river.

The city boy felt slightly intimidated by the idea of swiming in a river. What if something happened to him? Was it really safe to swim in river? It took a little convincing for Josuke to get in there. But nothing you couldn't do.

"C'mon, you know how to swim!" You cheered.

"Its cold!" Josuke whined as he got a si gle foot inside and thought ofnhow the temperature was going to feel in his whole body.

"I know, but as long as you keep moving, you wont feel cold" You added.

"Its easy for you to say it, you're already in there"

"Come on! I'll buy you lunch when were back if you get in here and swim towards me!"

Josuke looked at you as you slowly swam on your back towards the centre of the river.

"You're gonna be fine! I promise!"

Josuke took a deep breath before jumping into the river and swiming towards you. The cold water stinging his skin at first. However, he soon felt the warmth of your skin underwater, as his arm brushed yours.

"Hey you made it!" You said wrapping your arms around his bare shoulders covered in goosebumps due to the cold. You hugged his as he kept moving his legs, brishing his knees with yours every now and then

"I cant feel the bottom, how deep is this river?" Josuke asked.

"Dunno. But it doesnt matter. Just keep swimming!" You cheered.

"I'm going to be honest, Im a bit scared right now" Josuke admitted, a blush painting his cheeks lightly.

"Hey, nothing's going to happen to you. Here" you said holding his hand "Some otters hold hands to keep themselves from drifting away, so, as long as we're holding hands, you're gonna be fine" You squeezed his hand softly as he looked at your uands, oretty visible through the crystal clear water.

"Are we otters now?" Josuke asked.

"You're my otter half" You giggled mischievously as Josuke glared at you at your bad joke.

"Wow" Josuke laughed as he noticed he no longer felt cold anymore "that is the cheesiest joke you ever made"

"Okay fine, you can stop holding my hand now" You joked.

"No! Dont let go! I'll behave, I promise!" Your friend whined.

You laughed, Josuke tightening his grip on your warm hand as the both of you were floating without going anywhere.

You swam together as everyone was enjoying themselves as well swiming in the river. A few hours went by before your dad and his other two friends got off the water and started a fire ready to warm up the food before the sunset.

It a few instances, you had held hands with josuke, without much of a thoight. However, this time ot felt a bit different. It felt a bit more intimate. The time you spent in the river, you were hding hands the entire time. Outside the river, you remained with your fingers entwine despite it not being necessary anymore.

Something in your chest felt different than usual. And you thought you were just being silly, suddenly feeling romantic about holdong hands with your best friend.

However, what you didnt know is that Josuke was having the exact same thoughts. And the same fast heartbeat you were having, as neither of you let gonofneach other's hands as you approached the fire upon being called for dinner.

i was gonna go to wrestling school because nothing thrills me more than bodyslamming the shit outta someone or at least be able to get them held up in a figure four lock. was gonna front missile drop kick my way to the top! i did a lot of military / marine style fitness in high school. but due to Injuries™... womp womp. i am now returning to my job as a preschool teacher soon. i am hesitant because we are still in a deadly Pancake.

i can play over 10 musical instruments. was a drum captain, a woodwind section leader, part of a jazz ensemble, and a college orchestra. and im ok at digital production in a way that i can put together a simple drum loop before i get distracted by things. im hard of hearing, deaf in my left ear. so not 2 shabby 4 the deaf person!!! might make a metal band just because.

as someone who lived up surrounded by nature, was captain of the horticulture team, and worked as a nature photographer gathering photo of native plant life species in my area and real estate portfolio junk, i can identify over 50 plants, flowers, and trees off the top of my head. i can identify most types of wood, too. i also took plumbing, welding, automotive class, electrical work, so i can fix ur house and ur car....... i also took cosmetology and can do ya nails and hair, too. an overachiever in collected skills if u will..... also im a beauty pageant contestant and winner so i also have accolades just for being beautiful. wow.........!

#bc i saw a post that put the zodiac seasons (for thedas) roughly from the 20th of one month to the 20th of the next #like it is irl #but the zodiac seasons coincide w the actual seasons #the start of aries season is the vernal equinox #the start of cancer season is the summer solstice #the start of libra season is the autumnal equinox #the start of capricorn season is the winter solstice #and (to my knowledge??) the seasons in thedas start with their annum holidays or whatever #wintersend = beginning of spring #summerday = beginning of summer #all souls day = beginning of fall #satinalia = beginning of winter #(someone PLEASE correct me if im wrong on that) #well i know summerday and satinalia are right but #ANYWAY #using that logic the zodiac seasons would also start on those days #thedas-aries season would run from the 1st to the 30th of guardian #thedas-taurus would be 1-30 drakonis #thedas-gemini would be 1-30 cloudreach #so that thedas-cancer aka the start of summer aka summerday aka THE FIRST OF BLOOMINGTIDE #kSLFdfslkdFDKs #anyway. now i have to be Right about this#my previous hyperfixation and my current one.....coming together....to make me into a Massive Bitch<3

when would the zodiac signs' seasons take place in the thedosian calendar?

so bc the zodiac signs are based on constellations and all the lore etc that accompanies them i'm not even gonna touch that (YET.....yet...) but since spring, summer, autumn, and winter start on the first days of guardian, bloomingtide, august, and firstfall, respectively, so would those particular seasons of the zodiac

thedas-equivalent-of-aries season would just be 1-30 guardian, bc irl the beginning of aries season coincides with the beginning of spring and continues until the sun moves into taurus; all the cardinal signs (aries, cancer, libra, capricorn) begin on the first of the season like that, so we can assume that – IF there are 12 zodiac signs in thedas – the sun is in each sign for approximately a month. so that in 3 months the next cardinal sign can coincide w the beginning of that season

imo it makes sense that (if we're assuming thedas also has 12 signs and that their sun spends roughly equal time in all of them) four of them would coincide w the beginning of the seasons. so like yeah thedas is fake and for all we know they have 10 zodiac signs and they all start on wildly different days, but then everything is just shooting in the dark and where's the fun in that. obviously the changing of the seasons is important to them bc their holidays center around them, therefore i don't think it's wildly out of the blue to think that whatever star sign system they have going on would similarly coincide w the changing seasons

again i'm not currently bothering with picking constellations/symbols/stories/traits/etc for each sign so i'll just say first, second, third etc. point being the seasons of the zodiac would actually be like they are below, rather than how they are irl (aka the 20th-ish of each month to the 20th-ish of the next; it's like that irl bc our calendar is stupid and the beginning of the seasons randomly happens 2/3 of the way thru the month):

first sign = begins spring, 1-30 guardian

second sign ≈ 1-30 drakonis

third sign ≈ 1-30 cloudreach

fourth sign = begins summer, 1-30 bloomingtide

fifth sign ≈ 1-30 justinian

sixth sign ≈ 1-30 solace

seventh sign = begins autumn, 1-30 august

the cardinal signs are CALLED the cardinal signs bc they begin the seasons; they're the ~get up and goers~ of the zodiac, motivated, leaders, trail blazers, energetic, etc. they litchrally bring in the changes of the season so that makes sense right

so IF we are to continue w that logic — and here's where i'm getting (even more) conjecture-y, but i feel p confident that since 4 of the 5 major holidays in thedas are based on the changing seasons aka thats important — then the traits of the thedas-equivalent of those signs would also have similarities to the irl cardinal signs (namely the traits listed above)

but there are also FIXED signs and MUTABLE signs: so called bc fixed signs are firmly planted in the middle of each season (taurus in spring, leo in summer, scorpio in autumn, aquarius in winter) and bc mutable signs precede the major change from one season to the next (gemini from spring to summer, virgo from summer to autumn, sagittarius from autumn to winter, pisces from winter-to-spring)

and again bc these are based on the seasons, it also makes sense to me that, generally speaking, the signs in the middle and at the end of the seasons would also be distinct in some way. and probably have similarities to irl fixed and mutable signs, tho i'm not as obstinate about that as i am abt the cardinal signs. but anyway MOVING ON

also since we only have so many constellations we see in-game, and since they each come with a codex giving us at least a little background info (aka CRUMBS), any suggestions of which constellations are part of the zodiac are based on those specifically. obviously in real life theres a bazillion constellations that aren’t part of the zodiac, but we do not have the luxury of knowing every constellation in thedas so i am going with what we got

the thedosian constellation map (the canon one) is different than the fan-made sky map, but because i highly doubt anyone at bioware could’ve predicted someone would be As Insane As I Am Being Right Now about it, i don’t think they probably put a lot of thought into making it lmao. the fan made sky map DID have thought put into it tho, and it actually features the constellations we see in-game, so i’m going w that one ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

AND. i’m gonna look at the names of the months (both the fancy ancient tevinter names and the ~low/common~ names) in comparison w the constellations we have at our disposal bc why the fuck wouldn’t they be related in some way. this has no basis in any deeper logic than “maybe the fact that the ‘common’ name for this month is drakonis has somethinng to do with the constellation draconis idfk” but like. it’s literally the same name but with one letter (that makes the same sound) changed. i don’t think i’m asking too much here lmao

signs that start the seasons

wintersend is canonically associated with the old god urthemiel; the codex entry for the constellation bellitanus states it (is believed that it) was originally associated with urthemiel. using the same reasoning as with satinalis/satinalia, i’m gonna assume that bellitanus-as-a-zodiac-season would start with wintersend and last through the whole of guardian

summerday was once called andoralis, dedicated to the old god andoral; the codex entry for the constellation servani states it is thought to be representative of andoral, but where the wiki says andoral is the god of unity, the codex says andoral was the god of slaves. (doesn’t clarify if andoral is like, a figure to which the enslaved would turn to in their plight, as like a savior? or whether andoral is...just associated with slaves in some way.) i have no idea what the fuck to do w that except assume bioware is back on their bullshit! i’m gonna come back to this later

all soul’s day was once funalis, dedicated to dumat, old god of silence; the codex entry for the constellation silentir (which literally means ‘silence’ lmao) is usually said to represent dumat. so by this logic we might say the zodiac season for silentir begins with all soul’s day and ends with the last day of august

the constellation satinalis is canonically associated with satinalia, so it makes sense to me that if satinalis is part of the zodiac, its season would start with satinalia / last through the month in which the holiday takes place. aka firstfall

with these in mind, we have (tentatively) 3 of our 4 cardinal signs aka the signs that begin the seasons: bellitanus for spring, silentir for autumn, and satinalis for winter

looking at the fan-made sky map, these aren’t super evenly spaced apart (but then again neither are irl constellations perfectly proportioned so whatever!) HOWEVER. they do still, at least vaguely 😭, follow a clockwise pattern in the correct order of guardian/spring → summerday/bloomingtide → all soul’s day/august → satinalia/firstfall. it’s about the small victories ok *inquisitor ameridan voice* take moments of happiness where you find them or whatever

because even tho the “cardinal signs” go clockwise and in order, there’s still an uneven amount of constellations BETWEEN them. there should be 2 between each but, for example, silentir and satinalis only have tenebrium between them. and there are fucking....TEN constellations between satinalis and bellitanus so we’re going to have to get even more creative somehow<3 lmao these are all taken from the codex entries for the constellations (the names are links!)

ELUVIA: commonly called “sacrifice,” it’s (apparently) based on an orlesian tale in which a woman is saved from a “””lustful mage””” (i love bioware i love this frachise) by being placed in the sky and becoming a constellation. before this inspiring tale that is definitely not anti mage propaganda, eluvia may have represented razikale, tevinter old god of mystery. the imagery of this constellation is a seated woman with a cloud right above her - literally like her head is in the clouds (also bc it sounds like ‘eluvian’ i’m like 👀)

i’m inclined to pair this one up with cloudreach both bc the ancient tevinter name is “eluviesta” and bc the woman in the story is literally. in the clouds. simple enough

PERAQUIALUS: it’s a boat! but apparently a “primitive vessel” sailed by ancient peoples like the neromenians. according to the codex the translation is usually ‘across the sea’ rather than ‘boat’ but that doesnt rly help me lol
