I started a piece of art today which is based on some plant species* that I think would be good to colonize Tim in @gunpowder-tim’s headcanon of the Persephone Tim headcanon; so it’s art based on a headcanon of a headcanon of a headcanon 😅 [sweat simle emoji].
It’s gonna take a long time I think, but I am planning on posting it here even though it’s just gonna be plants and no Tim (because I am much better at drawing these little doodle plants than drawing people).
*so the art is basically of real species we have on Earth, but I maintain that they wouldn’t have the same plants on the City, so in my brain his plants are just similar to these ones.
#i don’t know if i should main tag this. thats always hard for me to tell#persephone tim#i am taking a break now because for some reason it took me almost 4 hours to paint some ghost pipe.#i am researching more species too. im looking at a lot of liverworts. but they are ‘obscure’ enougb thats its not always easy to find if-#they are parasitic or not. i know *some* species of liverwort are. and depending on how im able to draw them i might include non-parasitic-#species because i need the space filled a particular way#im also tired because i stayed up until after 6 am and then didn’t take my sleep meds (because it was 6 am)#oh there’s also gonns be some mushrooms included#ive explained it before but basically the fungus being an intermediary is a thing we see in real life (although not between plants and-#animals afaik) and it makes sense because fungi are closer related to animals than to plants.#now i suppose thats not necessarily true on the City. because we dont know if they are homo sapiens or not (this would make possible-#implications for the other life on the plant). however for now I have no hcs regarding that. its easiest to go with their life works the-#same as ours. but their species are different if for no other reason because of evolution (over time)#well thats whats easiest and most interesting and fun *to me* which i realize is because i am a biologist and happen to also crave as much-#scientific accuracy as possible. but thats not everyones cup of tea. not everyone wants to spend hours searching about different parasitic-#plants to choose one for this and learn about how they interact and what not. probably *most* people wouldnt think this hard about it.#and that’s okay too. if you like to make up your own plants whole cloth and not worry about it aligning with realy world biology. thats-#okay too. do what you like.#(unless you are a tv/movie/book/etc which is supposed to be set in our world on our earth. YOU CANT MAKE APE/WORM HYBRIDS! for crissakes)#hope its okay i tagged you gunpowder-tim#also sorry to everyone for how much i ramble in the tags. i have adhd and keeping 1 try of though is nigh on impossible#like this: nigh means near. so nigh on impossible is nearly impossible. but one way of defining nigh is approaching. then its approaching-#impossible. which makes me think of math. ‘as x approaches infinity;’ ‘as y approaches impossible’#there have a little language and math too with your dose of spec bio explanation#(the ape/worm thing is a reference to an early x-files episode that i have complained about in tags before)

skipping class!
he couldn't help but not care about the rest of his classes after seeing how cute you were meeting him after his morning one. 『haitani ran』
"Hey, sweetheart." Ran's hand traced your shoulders, moving to cup the side of your head and placing a kiss on your temple. His classmates calmly went around you, too tired and used to this interaction to care about the male purposefully being in the way. Rindou scoffed from beside him, his eyes rolling before moving in front of him.
"That's so gross, can you not do that in front of the entrance?" He shifted the headphones that were sitting around his neck, giving you an acknowledgement of 'good morning' before his brain finally registered what you were wearing. "Why the fuck are you still in pajamas-" he checked his phone for the time to accurately finish his (unneeded) criticism, "-when it's already 9:30?"
Ran waved his hand in front of his brother's face, leaning some of his weight onto you. "Yeah, yeah, pumpkin. Anyway, have fun in our classes! Tell me what we learn later, alright?" His little finger wave was all his brother had to reply to, as Ran was already directing you back towards your apartment right outside campus.
You held your phone up, your local cafe's social media page opened. "Look, they added the drink you favoured to the main menu! They even sent me a message saying that we'd get a discount for a bit because everyone's been ordering the drink so much." He squeezed you closer to him as he planted another kiss on your temple.
"I'm assuming you want to go today— careful, wet stairs— while we buy the stuff we need? It's on the way." You allowed him to hold your phone in his pocket ("Why wouldn't I let you hold it? I have nothing to hide." A conversation that left him dumbfounded for a few days.) as you got closer to the bridge that connected the academic side of the campus to the residential.
The walk was a little longer compared to Ran's walk to his dorm, but he never minded. He gets to spend more time with you and without any awkward third wheels or friends around on days like this, so how could he complain. "Mmm, I want to but I don't know if I'll have enough for our usual this time. I forgot some things on our last shopping trip so I need to spend more."
He tutted, "You know I'd love more than anything to help you with stuff, right? Besides, sweetheart, I use half the stuff at your place anyway, so it's only natural for me to help. Also, don't worry about the cafe. I'm your boyfriend and would love more than anything to pay for it every time, no matter what you say." He made you laugh the rest of the way to the apartment, eyes only leaving your cute kissable adorable face whenever there was a crosswalk.
"Go get ready, sweetheart. Take your time. I'll be waiting down here." Your apartment had a loft, which was where you kept your clothes and usually got dressed (unless company was over). Ran liked it because he could see you from the couch when you didn't have the curtains pulled shut. He never watches you change in a sexual way despite what others would think. Adoration is constantly plastered on his face.
"I love you, sweetheart." You paused halfway in putting your shirt on, turning to look at him before a smile appeared on your face, saying it back before you resumed getting dressed. "Should we get something to eat, too? I know you want to go grocery shopping but I figured we could eat something small before then." He helped you choose between outerwear that would be both comfortable and match well.
"Alright, you ready?" He met you at the door, digging through his abandoned schoolbag that was next to yours for his keys and wallet, the matching door key sticking out from the two plain keys he had on the keyring. This time, you kissed him after he locked the door for you before he rewrapped his arm around you, heading to the cafe to finally start your day.

• Elain Archeron as High Lady of the Dusk Court •
CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR ALL OF ACOTAR AND HOFAS
Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER: This is a pro Elain, pro Elriel theory, if you know this is something that will upset you, scroll and don’t interact with my post. I am not responsible for the content you choose to consume.
This is a post made with love and appreciation for Elain Archeron and all of my beautiful elriels, you guys are the intended audience for this post and I hope you guys enjoy it, as much I enjoyed writing it.
✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵
POWERS
As of February of 2024 we know very little of Elain’s powers, and while we know for sure that she has visions or something close to it, making her a seer; there’s reason to think that she might be able to do more than that.
ACOWAR CHAPTER 75
Tumblr media
It’s been said throughout the series that the cauldron is taken with Elain, and gifted something to her. While Nesta took power from it, Death itself as Rhysand called it in ACOSF, Elain was blessed by it.
While I have a preference for what those powers might be, I’m not going to stick only to my ideas, but I’ll also mention some alternatives the fandom has come up with.
ACOWAR CHAPTER 74
Tumblr media
There’s two things I want to talk about when it comes to this passage.
— Elain stepped out of a shadow.
While there’s a lot of possibilities as to why Elain was able to do this, the exact moment it was needed, there’s two main theories I would like to mention.
One. Elain was able to winnow.
ACOMAF CHAPTER 7
Tumblr media
ACOMAF CHAPTER 13
Tumblr media
This is the most simple explanation to what happened in ACOWAR, and it could be an indication of Elain’s power being greater than that of a normal high fae.
“Only the stronger fae can do it.”
But it also leaves the question of what about the training? We all know Feyre is a High Lady, and even she had to train to be able to use that ability, so how is Elain able to do this so easily at the right moment in the middle of the battle field?
I would love to offer you an alternative.
TWO. Elain used Truthteller’s powers.
HOFAS CHAPTER 25
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We learned in CC3 that Azriel doesn’t know how to use Truthteller to its full potential, what if Elain was able to see it with her Seer abilities and make use of it?
ACOWAR CHAPTER 30
Tumblr media
It’s known in the fandom that Elain foresaw Cassian’s death. And while some still think this is going to happen in future books, I believe it already happened and Elain found a way to stop it.
ACOWAR CHAPTER 69
Tumblr media
If Elain was able to winnow all along, why didn’t she take the dagger that Cassian offered her? She could’ve killed the king with that one just fine. Unless, she isn’t or didn’t know she was able to until she possessed Truth-Teller.
It’s been proven in CC3 that The star-sword and Truth-Teller possess a unique ability when combined/used together, but Vesperus was referring to Truth-Teller on its own.
HOFAS CHAPTER 12
Tumblr media
This conversation in CC3 tells us two things:
Truth-Teller doesn't possess the ability to kill the unkillable we saw with The Starsword and Ataraxia. So, a simple dagger could've killed the King of Hybern.
It's implyed by the name of the dagger and what Azriel said that it might possess truth powers.
What if Truth-Teller showed Elain her ability to winnow or the dagger's innate power to help her do it?
HOFAS CHAPTER 12
Tumblr media
"The dagger shone with darkness" - "Elain stepped out of the shadow."
As for the second thing I wanted to mention about ACOWAR 74: Only those with the power of the starborn can wild the Sword and the knife. And this is a fact.
Healing - Life Powers
ACOWAR CHAPTER 76
Tumblr media
Going back to the Cauldron and Elain's gifted powers. It would make sense that while Nesta stole Death itself from it, Elain might've been gifted with Life by it.
Throughout the ACOTAR books, Elain's been linked to spring and gardens, and there have been many instances where SJM wrote about Elain growing plants, growing life.
ACOWAR CHAPTER 80
Tumblr media
All of this aligns with what we learned about Theia and the Dusk Court in CC3.
✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵ ✵
HOFAS CHAPTER 22
Tumblr media
This right here is what inspired this theory, the moment I read this, everything made sense to me. This is what Bryce senses in the prison with her starborn powers, sounds familiar?
ACOWAR CHAPTER 24
Tumblr media
Even Lucien knows that what Elain is saying doesn't seem to be about him, and I never believed it was. The wording is very specific.
"I can hear your heart through the stone." - "There was a beating, vibrant heart locked away, far beneath them."
HOFAS CHAPTER 67
Tumblr media
"Off making more gardens?" - "I think the world needs more gardens."
Again, the wording used here was too specific to be a coincidence. A Garden, that's how SJM referred to the mountain Bryce awakened in Avallen, which is almost the exact copy of the Prison/Dusk Court.
HOFAS CHAPTER 19
Tumblr media
"blossomed under her care,"
All of this makes me think of something SJM mentioned in ACOSF.
ACOSF CHAPTER 22
Tumblr media
There was no reason for SJM to mention this particular detail unless it's something that might come to happen in the future; and with all of the foreshadowing I just showed you, I think it's pretty clear who they might be referring to.
In HOFAS, Bryce takes Theia's power from the mountain and this awakens the land. She already did this in Pythian, but we didn't get to know if the same thing happened there. What if the land needs a High Lady to really blossom and come back to what it once was?
I can't think of anyone better than Elain to do that.
DRESS FORESHADOWING
One thing that some elriels noticed is that SJM makes it a point of having Elain 90% of the time in either pink or blue dresses, this is a fun detail that we love to mention when talking about The Sleeping Beauty retelling theory, this one is one of my favorites so definitely check it out.
While this is true for most of the series, SJM decided to make Elain wear another color in Silver Flames, purple, the mix of the two. Where am I going with this?
Tumblr media
I think this Google image speaks for itself, but one last thing! There's a particular line of inner monologue from Cassian that a lot of gwynri3l's use to justify Elain "not belonging" in the Night Court.
ACOSF CHAPTER 57
Tumblr media
While they love to forget that the Inner Circle did this on purpose to make Elain look "plain", so Eris would keep his attention on Nesta; they might have a point because no, Elain won't stay in the Night Court.
ACOSF CHAPTER 57
Tumblr media
Nesta looks stunning in black tho, so she'll most definitely stay there. Right?
COLORING BOOK SYMBOLISM
On another note, user acoracaodefogo found something really interesting in the official coloring book for the series. Remember how Archeron's father named three ships after his daughters? Well, each of them has a symbol that correlates to something important about the sisters' future.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Feyre has a crescent moon and stars, symbolizing the night court, and The Nesta has a creature that looks close to what the hounds of the Daglan are described as (intriguing), and a sun, like the one in the mask of the trove.
Tumblr media
Elain's however, has an eight-pointed star, the symbol of the starborn and the Dusk Court.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HOEAB CHAPTER 21
Tumblr media
As we already know, only the starborn can wield the Sword and the knife, and Elain happened to wield one of the two already.
STARBORN HERITAGE
Were the sisters already part of the Starborn line? I think this might be the case. It never made sense to me how Nesta was able to shield her mind from a high lord, or that Rhys could feel Feyre, his mate, while still being human; or how their father was able to make a deal with Koshei. We know he was known as the Prince of Merchants before losing all of his fortune, but what could he offer Koshei? What could be so important that a death god was happy to strike a deal with that old man?
ACOTAR CHAPTER 35
Tumblr media
And there's also this. This little piece of information is what made me believe the sisters weren't completely human after all. Why would their parents know and old name of the fae? The humans hate the fae, they are scared of them, why would they choose that name for their youngest daughter?
There's also this new piece of information we got in CC3. Ruhn has healing magic, from the starborn line? This aligns perfectly well with what some elriels have been speculating since ACOWAR, that Elain saved Cassian not only by stabbing the King of Hybern, but also by immediately running towards him and healing some of his wounds.
HOFAS CHAPTER 94
Tumblr media
NOTE: One last thing that came to my mind just now, the Starborn lake is in the Spring Court and it was said multiple times in Silver Flames that Elain would love to see that court. Just a thought.
This is going to be it for now, if you have something else to add to this please do; I would love to talk more about it!
ACOSF CHAPTER 21
BUT ELAIN TURNED ON HER HEEL. "FIND ME WHEN YOU WISH TO BEGIN."
ACOSF FEYSAND BONUS CHAPTER
"LET'S HELP ONE SISTER BEFORE WE START ON THE OTHER."

Herbalism in Times of Turmoil
Tumblr media
I've recently returned to my roots (pun intended) in folk herbalism to supplement the work I'm doing with my therapist. It wasn't an intentional thing -- in our current round of EMDR, we've uncovered some deeply buried trauma, and bringing that trauma to the surface has shaken the foundations of how I see myself and the world around me. I feel very raw and vulnerable. I feel disoriented and fragile.
I find myself drawn to plant medicine as I navigate this trauma with the help of my therapist. I think a part of me longs for the sympathetic magic of plants -- by taking them into my body, maybe I, too, can become firmly rooted, supported by the earth and nourished by the sun. Maybe I can relearn the magics of stillness and connection. Maybe I can reintegrate into the earth's cycles of death and rebirth.
Some of the plants I'm partnering with in this work are old friends. Others are new allies, recommended by professional herbalists for the type of trauma I'm processing. All of them are supportive in different ways, and all of them have important lessons.
Obviously, I am working with herbs as a compliment to the work I'm doing with a professional mental health counselor, not as a replacement for medical/psychological care. I recommend you do the same, especially if dealing with complex trauma. Even if money is tight, you may be able to get free or low-cost counseling through local social services, nonprofits, university hospitals, etc.
How I Work with Herbs
As an animist, I see working with herbs both as physical medicine and as a working relationship with the spirit of the plant. I don't like to say that I "use" herbs, because that implies that they are just tools. When I say I "work with" an herb, what I mean is that I am partnering with that plant as a living, thinking being that has kindly chosen to support my healing process. I try to honor that relationship in every part of my herbalist craft.
One way I do this is by verbally thanking the plants that I consume as medicine. If I'm drinking a cup of linden tea, I'll say something like, "Thank you, linden, for aiding in my healing today."
I try to use herbal preparations that allow for a sensory experience to help me connect with the plant spirit(s). I don't like taking capsules full of powdered herbs, because that doesn't allow me to see, touch, smell, or taste the plant. I like teas because they allow for a much more intimate connection with the plant's spirit, and I use tinctures when I feel like I need more concentrated medicinal compounds.
I'm a witch who loves plants, but when I'm working with herbs internally, I do not choose them based on their magical or spiritual correspondences. When choosing herbs, I look for quality scientific studies that prove their medicinal benefits, but honestly a lot of plant medicine hasn't been sufficiently studied yet. Because of this, I also look at the way plants are viewed in traditional healing modalities like Western herbalism, Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, etc.
While I don't pick them based on their magical properties, I do think studying how these plants are used in magical practices can add an extra layer to my work with them. This helps me to have a more nuanced, deep, and complex relationship with the plant's spirit.
And of course, I always research contraindications and drug interactions before using an herb. For example, I don't recommend Saint John's Wort to anyone taking any kind of pharmaceutical medication because it really messes with the way your body processes your meds. It's also important to research how herbs might interact with other herbs and supplements you're already taking -- that's also a type of drug interaction!
I also try to remember that when we're moving through grief or processing trauma, this changes the way herbs (and drugs, for that matter) affect our bodies. I highly recommend the book The Trauma-Informed Herbalist by Elizabeth Guthrie to learn more about this.
Tumblr media
My Herbal Allies
These are the herbs I'm taking focusing my practice on right now:
Ashwagandha and Tulsi are two plant friends that I love pairing together. They're both adaptogens, meaning they can help manage the body's stress response, and come to Western herbalism by way of Ayurveda. I've been working with both of these plants for years, and although they do have different uses, I think they work really well together.
Ashwagandha is really helpful as a pick-me-up for the endocrine system (the system that produces hormones) and nervous system. I find that it has a very grounding effect and is especially helpful for when I feel overwhelmed or burned out. It's a great ally for building resilience when you feel like there's just way too much going on and have no idea how you're going to handle it all. It has a very bitter taste, so I usually add it to coffee or another very bitter beverage.
Tulsi, also called Holy Basil, is a lot more gentle and laid-back than ashwagandha, at least in my experience. It's one of my go-to herbs when I need emotional support. According to herbalists Katja Swift and Ryn Midura, "Tulsi has traditionally been the herb of choice for 'stuck emotions,' whether that's depression or PTSD or just a case of the grumpies." It has a delicious taste somewhere between basil and mint, and I love preparing it as a hot tea. This is one of my favorite herbs right now.
In Ayurveda, ashwagandha is classified as a Rasayana, which means it rejuvenates the body and can promote long life. It is also a Bhalya, meaning it promotes strength, and a Vajikara, which means it promotes healthy sexuality. Tulsi is one of the most valued herbs in Ayurveda and is even called the most sacred plant on earth in the Vedic Puranas. It increases sattva (light, clarity), uplifts the spirit, promotes joy and harmony, and increases prana (vital energy; similar to the concept of chi in China). They're sometimes used together because they're believed to support each other and enhance each other's effects.
I add ashwagandha and tulsi tinctures to my morning coffee and to other hot beverages throughout the day. I also really like tulsi as a tea, and tulsi tea is one of my go-to tools for replenishing my energy after a long day of tarot readings. That being said, I'm considering changing the way I consume these herbs to be more in line with traditional Ayurvedic practices, but I need to do more research first.
Cannabis is, honestly, one of my personal miracle workers, which is a little bit ironic because I also think it's waaaaay overhyped in the wellness industry right now. Cannabis is not a cure-all, and it is not recommended for everyone. There are several different types of cannabis, and each type has its own medicinal uses. For example, the cannabis I use in my personal practice is hemp, which is legally defined as cannabis with little to no THC, meaning it does not produce a high. Marijuana, the type of cannabis with THC, is powerful medicine for some people, but because of how my body and brain work, I personally don't use it. While marijuana use may be illegal depending on where you live, hemp is legal in most places.
I started working with cannabis several years ago to help manage anxiety and insomnia, but nowadays I mostly work with it to help with inflammation and chronic pain.
I find that my body really holds on to trauma in the form of tension, inflammation, and chronic pain. When my trauma response is triggered, I usually feel it as tension or pain, especially in my hips, pelvis, and lower back. I find cannabis really helpful for that stored trauma. It doesn't make the pain go away, but it helps me feel into it and navigate through it. I also find cannabis is really good at relaxing my body and helping me let go of that stored up trauma, almost like unclenching a fist.
Cannabis was historically used throughout the ancient world for divination and religious ritual. It's associated with connection to the spirit world, and may have been used in magical practices like the Norse practice of seidr. Scott Cunningham says hemp is associated with love spells and with Midsummer.
My favorite way to work with cannabis is with a cannibidiol (CBD) isolates. Since I live in a place where THC is illegal and have some health conditions that don't play well with THC, I like CBD isolates because I'm able to make sure I'm getting a THC-free product. I add CBD to my coffee along with tulsi and ashwagandha, and I feel like it helps me process the caffeine better. I also notice rapid relief for joint and nerve pain, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts after drinking this brew.
Meadowsweet is a new plant friend for me. I actually first came across meadowsweet when I was researching handfasting herbs -- it's a traditional inclusion in British handfasting and wedding ceremonies, and was historically used as a "strewing herb," which means it was sprinkled on the ground. It's also a traditional flavor in mead, and in fact the name "meadowsweet" comes from its traditional use in mead-making. (I actually have a batch of meadowsweet mead fermenting right now!)
In herbalism, meadowsweet is prized because it contains salicylates, which can be used to make salicylic acid, the main ingredient in aspirin. This makes it great for pain, especially pain caused by inflammation. It's also great for your digestive system, which makes it a powerful ally if, like me, you suffer from the dreaded "anxiety tummy."
Meadowsweet is a very summer-y plant for me, and its energy reminds me of summer sunshine. It's a plant that reminds me to find joy in the little things in life, and has a very hopeful vibe. This is a plant I associate with both Midsummer and Lughnasa. It's a great friend for when you just need a little sweetness in your life.
On a more physical level, I combine meadowsweet with cannabis, ashwagandha, and tulsi to manage chronic pain rooted in trauma. And, of course, for keeping the anxiety tummy at bay.
In European magic traditions, meadowsweet is associated with love, peace, and joy. Interestingly, Scott Cunningham also talks about the use of meadowsweet for protection from thieves.
I add meadowsweet tincture to my morning coffee along with ashwagandha, tulsi, and CBD. I also really enjoy it as a hot tea, and I think the flavor blends really well with tulsi.
Linden is another new friend for me, but I am obsessed. I don't think I've ever worked with an herb that feels this gentle, supportive, and nourishing to the soul. Katja Swift and Ryn Midura of the Holistic Herbalism Podcast call linden "a hug in a mug," and I think that's a perfect description of how it feels.
In Western herbalism, linden is most often used for heart conditions and to restore the cardiovascular system. However, it also works as a nervine, which means it has a calming effect on the nervous system. It can provide gentle relief for anxiety, tension, and even everyday stress. In Herbal Medicine for Beginners, Swift and Midura even recommend linden to "mitigate the side effects of drying, stimulating medications like Adderall and Ritalin." It is also recommended for nerve pain and damaged nerves.
Linden is wonderful medicine for the heart, both the physical heart and the emotional heart. I really do feel an improvement in my mood when I work with linden. It's soothing and uplifting at the same time.
Magically, linden is strongly associated with protection. It's also associated with love, good luck, and preventing insomnia. Scott Cunningham mentions carrying linden to prevent intoxication.
My favorite way to work with linden is by drinking it as a tea. It tastes similar to chamomile, but a little less fruity. I drink several cups throughout the day, especially when I feel like I need to unwind or calm down.
Rose is one of my favorite flowers. Maybe that makes me basic, but I really do love this plant. The scent of rose has been one of my favorite scents since I was very small -- I remember going to Catholic mass with my mom and praying with my own rose-scented rosary!
We usually think of rose as a decorative flower or an ingredient in perfume, but it also has culinary and medicinal uses. It's used topically to treat skin issues by promoting the growth of new skin cells and to treat rashes and eczema. It can also help soothe gut problems. Rose is also relaxing and anti-inflammatory.
In magic rose is associated with love and romance (duh), divination, healing, fast luck, protection, and connection to the divine. Cunningham recommends it for calming "personal stress and household upheavals" and says the flowers attract fairies. This might be because I was raised Catholic, but rose feels like a very sacred plant to me. In Catholicism it's associated with the Virgin Mary and with some other saints like St. Therese of Lisieux, but I personally use rose more in ancestor work (especially when working with queer ancestors) and for attracting friendly spirits in general.
Right now, my favorite way to work with rose is in aromatherapy. The smell of fresh roses is so uplifting, and it makes me feel like I'm surrounded by gentle, loving protection. I'm sure there are probably health benefits to working with the pure essential oil, but real rose essential oil is VERY expensive, so I use a mild rose-scented perfume instead. (I'm very sensitive to scents and often get headaches from artificial fragrances, but right now I'm wearing Pacifica Beauty's Persian Rose perfume and I haven't had any issues with it.)

like how could you not there's so many cool kinds of fungus
they adore that such life can grow from death
will rarely pick mushrooms because they want them to stay where they belong
doesn't want to separate them from their fungi families 🥺
really REALLY likes cool colored fungi that glow
I imagine magical fungi exists in their world so they get really excited when they find some in the wild
they go crazy for those really big mushrooms and will stare at them for hours if they could
has dreamed of sleeping on a mushroom many times like a little fairy but won't tell ANYONE ( ok except Kuras but they didn't mean to, got really embarrassed )
if you gift them a glowing magic mushroom to keep as a nightlight they'll act unfased at first but congratulations you're basically married now
Vere:
Gemstones
eyes dilate like a cat when he sees one
oooo shiny
has stolen found more than he's bought
has a mini hoard of stones stashed away somewhere in his room
he only shows it to people he really likes ( Ais and S/o )
Ais' earrings intrigues him
Ais noticed and took them off so he could see and was more than willing to talk about where he got them
Vere knew exactly what they were made of right away and wanted to tral them as his own to mess with Ais, but lost interest when Ais admitted he wouldn't mind
would lay on a giant pile of gemstones like a dragon's hoard in his full demon fox form if he had the means to ( would put his S/O in the pile too as one of his treasures )
he'll know exactly which gemstones look best on you for jewelry
Ais:
Animals
like alot of animal facts dude
he has a wide range of knowledge because he can't choose a favorite animal. he likes SO MANY
ranging from the scariest of predators on land and sea to the cutest little fellas ( sharks, tigers, bunnies, small birds, sparrows *hint hint*)
if you tell him what your favorite animal is expect to be randomly given little gifts based off of of it ( illustrations, mini figurines, plushies etc )
asked Vere alot of questions about his fox nature ( " does your coat change color in the winter?" " ...Ais I'm trying to get frisky stop asking weird shit" )
was the type of kid to bring strays home so you can imagine how happy he is about having a pack of soulless
he immediately knew which animal/animals they were all based on and knows how to interact with them accordingly
his love for animals kinda messes with his instincts like yeah I shouldn't pet that large predator but what if he's lonely like me 🥺
is totally fine with getting bit and scratched because he overstepped a boundary and will learn from it
I bet eridia's highborn snobs have captured exotic creatures for show so guess who's pulling up with his red eyed soulless gang for a jail break ( he'd give the creatures to a shelter that can relocate and take care of them )
wants to raise alot of pets with his S/o as they grow old. just one big happy family of strays they've taken in: wild soulless, escaped highborn pets, barn animals, alley cats, Vere, etc.

Hi!!! I have a request for a Joel Miller fic where him and Ellie r settled and he meets reader who is a school teacher in Jackson
Oooo!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were a nurse and a botanist. You worked at a research facility partnered with a hospital. You were helping research various herbs and remedies that could help either cure the Cordyceps infection or at the very least slow it down. Alas, you found none and that led to the chaos and the near extinction of mankind. That is until you got to the Jackson settlement and you were amazed at how the place looked like it used to before the outbreak.
You had met with Tommy and his wife, Maria, sweet and caring people. You told them of your previous occupation and expected to be stationed at the clinic. But your expertise in botany made them choose a different path for you. You now found yourself in a school, teaching botany and nursing.
You had a set schedule, two days a week you taught students ranging from 6 years old to 10 years old. Two other days you taught students ranging from 13 to 21 years old. One day you taught the adults. Needless to say, you were kept busy, but you liked it. You felt like you were giving hope to this settlement. The more knowledge you gave them, the better chances they would have surviving their missions. You hoped at least.
Today, you were wearing a yellow sundress, black ballet flats, and a white sunhat. Your hair was done in a front dutch braid. You stood in the greenhouse waiting for your students to arrive. You wanted to teach the young students (13 years - 21 years) about what herbs to eat and how to check if some fruit are ripe enough to eat. You had heard a new student was joining you, you didn’t know much about her, just that Tommy insisted she joined the class.
You smiled widely seeing the students walk in chipper and happy. It was nice to see your students this way, it reminded you of life before. You were about to begin the class when a brunette haired teenager walked in shyly. “Ah, you must be...Ellie, right?” You smiled warmly and approached her. The girl nodded and shuffled her feet a little. She looked at the other students then back at you. You could tell she was nervous. “There’s nothing to worry about Ellie, we’re all here to learn. If you have any questions, please ask.” You put a hand on her shoulder reassuringly.
The girl gave you a small smile and nodded. You began class and enjoyed seeing Ellie becoming more comfortable around the others so quickly. At the end of class, the parents came in to get the kids and some kids left, except Ellie. You were cleaning up the herbs and looked over at her. “Is Tommy coming to get you?” You asked softly.
“Nah, Joel should be here soon. He’s talking to some people...Is it okay if I stay here until he comes?” She asked.
You nodded and sat down by a few potted plants. You began trimming the leaves and examining the soil. Ellie walked over to you and sat next to you, she watched what you were doing. “It’s good to trim the leaves that are overgrown to keep the plant healthy and growing. You have to check the soil too.” You said finishing your work.
“Is it true you’re a nurse as well?”
“Yes I am, I teaching nursing to all my students, how to clean a wound, how to bandage one, and how to stitch.”
“That’s cool.” Ellie smiled.
You smiled back at the girl then looked up when you saw a tall and gruff man in a flannel shirt walk in.
“There you are Ellie.” He said.
Ellie turned and smiled, “Hey Joel! Guess what! I learned what not to eat in the wilderness, short answer don’t eat anything that looks delicious!”
Joel cracked a small smile, “I could’ve told you that.”
“Yeah but you would just say ‘Because I told you so Ellie’! At least she explains why.” Ellie mimicked Joel right down to the posture. You chuckled softly at the interaction.
“Is that what I sound like?” Joel raised a brow.
“All the time.” Ellie smirked.
“Come on now, you’re embarrassing me in front of the pretty lady.” Joel shook his head.
“You don’t need my help with that.” Ellie smirked.
“Get outside, you little shit.” Joel scolded.
Ellie stuck her tongue out to him and turned to you, “See you tomorrow, teach?”
“Don’t get into too much trouble.” You chuckled. Ellie left the greenhouse but Joel stayed put. You smiled at him kindly, “Your daughter is sweet, spunky but sweet.” You stood up, dusting off your dress.
“She’s...Something.” Joel smirked.
You now approached Joel and extended your hand. You introduced yourself and Joel did the same and shook your hand. “Ah, you’re Tommy’s brother...How did I not see it?” You looked him over.
“Excuse me?” Joel indulged.
“Tommy described you as scary, gruff, brooding, and silent.” You nodded. Joel just let out a huff. “He did forget to mention that you were handsome.” You grinned.
Joel met your gaze to see any hint of dishonesty. When he found none, he could feel his cheeks get warm. “Well, you’re not so bad yourself, darlin’.” Joel smiled at you.
“I know, you called me pretty a few minutes ago.” You winked.
Joel’s smile grew and the tint of pink began to show on his cheeks.
“Joel! Are you coming?!” Ellie shouted from outside.
“I better go before she starts throwing rocks.” Joel sighed softly.
You nodded and went on your tip toes to kiss his cheek, “Have a good night, Joel.”
Joel blushed more and looked at you softly, “You have a good night as well, teach. If you need anything, I’m your man.”
You smiled sweetly, “Yes sir.” You watched him walk out of the greenhouse, almost bumping into the door when he was saying bye to you. You giggled softly and your fingers began to play with the locks of your hair.
You couldn’t wait to see him again.

Can you recommend angsty fics which don't revolve around the main duo?
Hope you like these! I avoided fics that revolved around either Marinette or Adrien.

Can’t Sleep Either, Huh? by EmeraldButterfly
Chloe gets up late at night. Turns out she’s not the only one who’s worried about Pollen. (AU where former Miraculous holders have an empathetic link with their kwamis)
This is a very interesting AU. Chloe and Zoe are both able to feel Pollen’s emotions and even things like her hunger, and end up taking solace in each other to try and cope. It’s just really sweet.

oh, no, not again by @bittersweetresilience
Félix doesn’t want to broach the subject, but he won’t be able to after they leave.
So this is a glimpse into a time-travel fix-it story, with various wielders being sent back into their younger selves. But Felix doesn’t think he’ll be helpful, because well… his backstory. He would be unable to step out of line. It’s pretty angsty and I love Chat’s reaction to learning about how bad Felix had it.
---
Changeling by @unecoccinellenoire
Gabriel makes the Wish believing that he regretted everything with Adrien. The results suggest that he in fact regrets Adrien
So this is interesting. It’s giving a glimpse into a universe where Gabriel and Emilie never found the Peacock Miraculous, and they (along with Amelie and Colt) just adopted. Which unfortunately meant that Adrien and Felix as we know them never existed, and Gabriel finds that he misses his original son, which is especially acute when interacting with his new adopted son and knowing how much he’s NOT Adrien.

Late Bloomer by @generalluxun
On what might very well be the last night of her life, Sabrina Raincomprix pulls out a very special scrapbook, pressed between the pages is the past, the past she has never shared with anyone. She relives how she got to this moment one page at a time, preparing herself for the end. A phone call interrupts her self-imposed exile and brings news that could change her life forever. Even if it does though the question looms… change it how?
Sabrina-centric Hanahaki AU here! I love how it goes into Sabrina’s relationship with Chloe over the years, the good and the bad - and even what happens post Revolution.
I love the description of some of the plants involved, and what they mean, what they represent. If you want a fic that delves more in Sabrina’s character and her relationship with Chloe, this is a solid choice.

Spread Your Wings by @myladynoire
Set before the Finale. Félix uses his Kwagatama to summon his father’s memory and has a talk with him.
I love Colt’s characterization here, how we see his mindset, his beliefs, and even what made him the way he is. We have a limited amount of knowledge about him in canon, only having the play Felix and Kagami put on to go off of, but myladynoire made good use of it! I’m glad Felix got some closure here as well.

Eat, Pray, Duck by @trishacollins
Gabriel Agreste split his twin sons apart when his wife died, keeping one with him and sending one to London with his sister. Unfortunately, the Supreme was not willing to let this be. He wanted a matched set. Felix is a weapon, a servant of the Supreme. On a mission to retrieve the stolen Miraculous. In a world that has outlawed kindness, sometimes the most dangerous person is the one who chooses it anyway.
I love this glimpse at what might have been going on with Felix back in Shadybug and Claw Noir’s world, I did wonder what might have been going on with him. Poor kid, he managed to have it even worse than he did in canon. I really loved seeing his interactions with Luka, the Couffaines rebel through kindness it seems!
---
Trapped by @consistent-chaos-corporation
Felix asks to visit Adrien as soon as his father is gone. Gabriel catches him snooping, looking for Adrien’s Amok. Everything gets worse from there.
Damn, poor Felix. He came to try and help Adrien, but instead Gabriel stole his Amok, forcing him to obey his commands, holding him prisoner in his basement for months. If you want some quality Felix whump, this is the fic for you!

Justifying the Means by @ashes-555
When the worst happens, Alya finds that she may be willing to do the unthinkable. Is any sacrifice to big to make for her friends?
Once again, Ashes comes out swinging with an Alya focused fic!
Basically, there’s a major, destructive akuma attack. During it, Ladybug orders Chat to cataclysm a building in order to stop from being trapped. Unfortunately the building collapses, injuring or killing a lot of people - unbeknownst to her, including Chat Noir. Gabriel releases the akuma, which means she has no way of fixing the damage, either.
A lot of of focus is placed on Alya and Nino worrying over Adrien, who was found in the wreckage barely clinging to life, in a coma, with the doctors unsure whether he’d make it. Shadow Moth takes advantage of their distress to make an offer: if he gets the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculouses, he can make a Wish to fix everything, including saving Adrien. With as dark a place as Alya and Nino are in, they seriously consider it. Especially with how unhappy both of them are with Chat Noir supposedly “abandoning” Ladybug and Paris as a whole, and Nino being angry with Ladybug for failing (since Alya knows that Marinette is Ladybug, she’s far more understanding on that front).
I love how much credence Alya’s thought and emotions are given here, and that she doesn’t go for the more drastic option right away, either - she talks with Ladybug about it first, tries to do it her way. She understands the costs, but... her friends are important to her, and she’s desperate. I think this was a really good way to present a more antagonistic sort of Alya. She’s still very much herself here, and still considers Marinette her friend, willing to do things her way to an extent, and understanding why Marinette doesn’t want to use the Wish, even though she disagrees with her. Alya’s mindset, her emotions, her problems, are given respect and credence by the narrative. She’s still willing to talk things out, she’s still sympathetic to Marinette and the enormous trauma and guilt she’s going through, she just disagrees with Marinette’s approach. She wants her friend back.
If you want a fic that has some solid focus on Alya as a person, on her emotional struggles and mindset and just... dealing with things, I highly recommend checking out “Justifying the Means”.

I Won’t Let You by @generalluxun
After Gabriel’s defeat, two individuals not party to the celebration run into each other, and find each other.
The summary doesn’t give much of an idea of what the fic’s about. Post-Hawkmoth Defeat, Chloe and Felix run into each other at the celebration of Gabriel’s downfall, and vent about their problems. Neither of them think the other one has it too bad - Chloe’s worried about disappearing, since her worth was entirely tied to her family’s prestige and wealth, and being seen as friends to a terrorist is gonna cripple both of those, while Felix is on edge about Ladybug having the Peacock Miraculous, since she has the ability to kill him at a moment’s notice (yes this is a Sentifelix fic).
They both make each other understand the turmoil the other is going through in extremely visceral ways, showing the other what it’s like to be them, in the circumstances they’re in. I don’t want to spoil what, exactly, they do, but needless to say, it’s worth a read.

✮ what aesthetic would best describe you? ✮
pile one, two, or three?
Tumblr media
topic suggested by laistulip! thank you!!! masterlist ⭑ personal readings ⭑ patreon
˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ pile one
[the sun reversed, ace of cups reversed, ten of cups upright] heyyy to those of you who chose pile one. so i feel as though the aesthetic that would best describe you is an aesthetic that is very bright, but also very sad? like, an image with bright-colored hearts but with a bitter saying on it, if that makes any sense. you guys seem to have an optimistic view of life, but that does not take away from the sadness you've gone through and possibly still are going through at this current moment. you could've had a new connection and/or opportunity that made you really happy, but it didn't go the way you thought it would which could've left you feeling melancholy, but you still keep in mind that rejection is redirection and you're happy to see what's next for you! you guys may be the type the joke about what you've gone through to try to uplift your mood, or when people ask you how you feel, you are honest but not in a way that you want them to worry about you too much. i feel like those of you who are reading this learned how to get through tough times and keep your head above the water. like, instead of drowning, you choose to float and let the water take you where it may. you give me very much "crying in the club" type of vibes lol. click here to see the aesthetic that i have in mind for pile one!
˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ pile two
[ace of wands reversed, the world upright, five of cups upright] hiii pile two. right off the bat i'm seeing that the aesthetic that would best fit those who chose pile two would be an aesthetic that consists of all the elements (earth, fire, water, air) and a seductress aesthetic, as well. like, you guys could be very in tune and loving of mother earth, but you guys are also very attractive and may not be shy when it comes to showing off your features and basking in your beauty. you guys could definitely resonate with siren energy, but also fairy energy?? i'm getting so many different things for this pile lol. i feel like you do not have just one aesthetic that could describe you; you have many different sides to your energy that could resonate with so many different things, pile two. but i'm for sure seeing nature as in trees, rivers, multicolored plants/flowers, wild animals and insects like lizards and snakes and even "fictional" creatures such as dragons and mermaids. you guys have very powerful energy and i wouldn't be surprised if your chart was pretty well-balanced with all the elements. click here to see the aesthetic that i have in mind for pile two!
˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ pile three
[three of wands, five of wands, the emperor] what's up, pile three? so, the aesthetic that would best describe you is someone in charge who is also pretty laid back? lol i know that's not an aesthetic but i'm sure that some visuals could come from that. you are someone who is very fiery and structured when it comes to the things you take seriously, and you have a lot of passion what you truly care about. you could possibly be a perfectionist, too. the colors green and red could fit your energy very well since you are both structured but also fiery. i'm getting kind of an earthy vibe from this pile, but like, on fire. like a contained fire in the wilderness. you know how people go camping and they gather a bundle of sticks so they can make a campfire? yeah, that's more like what i'm getting from this pile. you guys try not to dwell in your emotions too much since there's literally no signs of water in these cards that i'm using. you guys could also be stoners??? lol. obviously not for all of you. anywho, click here to see the aesthetic that i have in mind for pile three!
thank you for reading and interacting! <3 i am most likely going to do another part to this topic soon because there are so many of you and so many aesthetics out there!

Get to know you - Sims Style
Thank your for tagging me, @daniel-fortesque & @bast-sims
What’s your favorite Sims death?
None (hate it when it happens); the most frequent one in my gameplays is the old age one.
Alpha CC or Maxis Match?   A mix between the two, it depends how well the CC matches the game's art style.
Do you cheat your sims weight? Not really; what I cheat is how muscular my female sims are as I play a lot the Acrobat career in TS3 Showtime and my girls bulk up too fast and too much.
Do you move objects? Ever since I learned about this particular (and very useful) cheat, yes.
Favorite Mod? Most of the Nraas mods, all of @thesweetsimmer111 fabulous baby/toddler mods and also small ones to correct some stuff in the game (like No Mascot Camera Zoom, No Autonomous Gaming, Autonomous Wash Hands After Toilet Use, Zoom-In CaS Camera, etc)
First Expansion/Game Pack/Stuff Pack? World Adventures.
Do you pronounce live mode like aLIVE or LIVing?   aLIVE
Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? A lot of them, for different reasons.
Selena Noble - a ballerina (now an acrobat) with no moral compass. But I think she's cute so she's my muse for the balletcore collection.
Tumblr media
Lin Young - my fearless adventurer.
Tumblr media
Riley Preston - my talented artist.
Tumblr media
Hope London - my dedicated gardener.
Tumblr media
These three: Mel Hada, Ren Akiba & Jace White (aka Yasu Sato). They are the MCs from "Uncertainty".
Tumblr media
I don't have pics of them right now, but I also have to mention: Sasha Azarov, Daichi & Rei Sato, Ayanna Sato, Sebastian DeLuca.
Have you made a simself? The first sim I ever made was a simself. It did not go well.
Which is your favorite EA hair color? None; since it's TS3 I mix them according to my characters.
Favorite EA hair? Not really using the EA hairs usually, but I'd choose the Playful Updo from Late Night.
Tumblr media
Favorite life stage? I play a lot the YA & A life stages, but also enjoy all the other ones.
Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay?  I'm in for everything the game has to offer: gameplay, building, CAW, CC creation.
Are you a CC creator? Yup.
Do you have any Simblr friends or a Sim Squad? I wouldn't say a squad, but I do have people here that I admire and like to interact with.
Do you have any sims merch? Nope.
Do you have a  YouTube for sims? Yes (as I'm an ex-machinima creator), but these days I'm only using it when I have animations to share.
How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing? In every possible way. I put a lot more thought into my builds (and worlds), my sims no longer look like aliens (I used to make them have these big anime eyes) and my gameplays are more wish-based than ever.
Who’s your favorite CC creator? So many of them since I'm a big CC hoarder. As Daniel said, everyone who brings something to this game is a champion and deserves accolades.
But to mention only a few, I'd say @simtanico for their high quality items, @enable--llamas for the awesome furniture, ArtVitalex & Onyxium over at TSR who both still create furniture for TS3, Bill-Sims also at TSR, @sim-songs here on Tumblr for their conversions, @technicallyswagpizza for their amazing plants (and tutorials that taught me a lot), @yorithesims and @bmit04 for poses; @maryjanesims3 & @agnelid for hair default replacements, and so many more. Sorry, I can't remember everyone right now.
How long have you had Simblr? Since January 2019.
How do you edit your pictures? For more aesthetic pics I use Reshade and PS (although I don't remember ever posting these types of pics), but I usually just slightly adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation and exposure in PS as I love the TS3's default art style (I'm just spicing it up a little).
What expansion/ gamepack is your favorite? Kinda all of the expansion packs?! Mainly Seasons, World Adventures, Late Night, Island Paradise, Generations. Also love all the functional store content and worlds.
Tagging:  @technicallyswagpizza @chojrak-making-things @agnelid @murfeelee @simtanico @puffkins2000 @yorithesims @enable–llamas @solori @pudding-parade @faerielandsims @jazzysimlife @tiaamorosa @lordressdragoonbear @thesweetsimmer111 @bmit04 @maryjanesims3 @nornities

NATLA Episode 5 - Spirited Away (1/3)
[Masterlist of my NATLA thoughts]
An explanation of what I'm doing here and my history with ATLA.
Of course, full spoilers ahead.
<previous/next>
This episode shifts from taking several episodes from season 1 of the animated show and weaving them together to even drawing from future seasons/shows! I saw elements of The Winter Solstice: part 1, Bato of the Water Tribe, The Swamp (season 2), The Storm, Siege of the North part 2, that episode in Legend of Korra season 2 where (spoilers) she meets Iroh in the spirit world and sees the people lost in the Fog of Lost Souls, and honorable mentions to The Waterbending Scroll, The Fortuneteller, and The Great Divide. While that might seem like a lot to combine into one episode, I think the writers did well to pick and choose the thematic elements of each episode that would naturally condense into a Spirit World trip as well as add to Zuko's story.
This was a characterization-heavy episode that really let us delve deep into several characters - namely Katara, and Sokka, but also Azula. I feel like because Zuko has soooo much to delve into, he gets really impactful character moments every episode, but episode 6 is really his time to shine, so that's why I don't include him in that list and Aang is similar - he gets a lot of his backstory examined all through the season while Katara and Sokka don't get a chance for flashbacks.
The intro does a great job letting us know that some time has passed - and the Gaang is getting better at working/surviving together. Love the detail that Katara is learning waterbending by experience and observation rather than just being naturally good at coming up with her own forms: she saw earthbenders do the earth disks, so she made her own ice ones! The burned forest is pulled almost directly from the animated show and I like how they're tying it to not only the themes of responsibility, but also of forgiving yourself for past mistakes and planting seeds for the future.
I like the choice to have Sokka interacting with a young girl in the forest who was looking for her stolen brother rather than an old man just randomly showing up and asking for their help. The active choice for Sokka to turn on 'big brother mode', drop the Pipenpadalopsikous easter egg, and the group to CHOOSE to go to the village to help all on their own gave the characters a lot of agency rather than just being tugged along with the plot by other characters. Since they cut the Imprisoned storyline where the Gaang took that agency in the animated version, I like that they gave them that same agency here in the live-action. The included detail that the forest didn't burn due to a battle, but just because the Fire Nation wanted a clearer path to march through just shows how devoid of care Israel is - sorry, The Fire Nation is - for the natural world. While at war, just destroy everything in your path - even centuries old orchards - sorry, forests.
The change in camera focus as Aang senses the issues in the Spirit World was a really cool cue for the watcher - makes it very other-worldly. Live-action Aang already understands that he can interact with the spirit world rather than in the animation when the villager has to prompt him 'yeah, you can do that stuff' and Aang reluctantly and with a great deal of apprehension says 'right, that's me'. While I like how Aang has no idea what he's doing as he hasn't had anyone to teach him about the spirit world, he goes about things differently in the live-action. He still doesn't know exactly what to do, but he does know meditation, so he tries that - and it takes awhile and does it funky, bringing Katara and Sokka in with him.
It's great to see Zuko on the old-school hunt for the Avatar and being a dick to his crew - these two episodes in Zuko's POV draw heavily from The Storm and Bato of the Water tribe and it's a great dynamic to see between him and his crew. Then we jump to Azula laying on the flattery thick with her father and dropping the 'water the most promising seed' line! Again, reinforcing the theme of future growth - and it might not always be positive growth. Linking the themes to both sides is just soooooo goooddd. Love too, how Azula gives her suggestion for what to do and Ozai agrees, an inverse of when he'll be so disparaging of Zuko's suggested tactics in the next episode.
But oooooohhhh the sly dressing down he gives Azula, her conflicted and angrily embarrassed reaction, and then Ozai's little smirk as he pokes and prods in JUST the right way to get Azula pitted against Zuko - love love love what they did with the royal family in season 1. It'll give SO much more depth to Zuko and Azula's rivalry next season!! It is heartbreaking though that Azula was so clearly angling to get some sort of approval from her father - some praise for her abilities - praise that with Ozai is probably very rare. The two children are just so desperate for positive reinforcement from their father and while Azula's sly remarks are, of course, underhanded, you see that she's doing it because she's just a child desperate for approval - not that she was just 'born a monster'.
The Gaang's dynamic is so cute here!! Like in the animated version, Katara having complete faith in Aang even though she's no idea how he's gonna do it, Aang desperately trying to do something he knows he should be able to do but no idea how, and Sokka complaining that he's hungry which is distracting Aang from his super serious business. Their interactions are almost a direct pull from the Siege of the North Part I from the animated series when Katara and Yue are talking behind Aang as he's trying to enter the Spirit World at the oasis. Instead of stumbling into the Spirit World on accident as he chases after Hei Bai, in the live-action, Aang has to meditate for a long time before finally reaching the point where he can cross over. The detail of Katara continuing to practice her forms as they wait is really great as we don’t actually get to see animated Katara practicing much - it's just The Waterbending Scroll, and every other time, she just does the waterbending form perfectly. Yes, her skills improve, but we really miss her practicing.
It's an interesting choice to bring Sokka and Katara with Aang into the Spirit World - I can see how, with the themes they're looking to explore with these episodes, that's how they chose to do it. The main ideas being that you need to come to terms with the past so you can look forward to the future, and a great way to do a flashback sequence is through the Spirit World. The animated show didn't really show Aang much in the spirit world through these episodes - he just met Fang and was given the Spirit message to get to Roku's temple - but nothing else really Spirit Worldy happened. And we just left Sokka and ignored the fact he was there. I like them combining Aang's jaunt into the spirit world during the Siege of the North episodes here because I think it's a great story beat to hit, but the siege episodes are already a LOT, so adding even more with the spirit world journey to meet Koh would probably be too much.
Won Shi Tong was an amazing addition to the spirit world. Instead of a random monkey (that costs tons of money to CGI), they've created a model for a character we'll see in season 2. I don't really understand people confused about his presence here - like….y'all, he's a spirit? He can float around wherever - probably can be both here in the spirit world and the library at the same time? Idk, it just seems like an odd thing to be confused over. Like, why would an ancient spirit not be able to jump over into the spirit world while also holding down their presence in the material plane? It really felt like manufactured outrage trying to FORCE an issue that’s…not an issue at all.

how to develop psychism, startinggggg... NOW!
This is a standalone reply to an ask, the relevant context being: how can I practice methods of psychism in a way that's natural to me, instead of following someone's dumb guide?
(The irony being that this is also a guide, but I'm nothing if not an advocate of foolishness)
This method has only one step: just start practicing
The above is the only step to remember. The rest of this post will be hints and tips for how to practice and keep your practice sessions useful, while avoiding some common pitfalls.
For this method, you must be able to keep records of some sort. Record keeping is important because it helps ward against falling into confused or false thinking.
Example: You practice clairaudience and you think hear a spirit say, "this person will bring you great gifts; they are reliable." Three weeks later, this person has betrayed you. The supposed spirit now claims that it actually meant, "learning not to trust so easily is a great gift; that person was reliably going to teach you this lesson."
Unless you keep accurate records of what you experience, it can be easy to fall into confused or mislead patterns of thinking. Using the above evidence, we might realize that no, this isn't a spirit - this is a personal inner voice that is truly my own wistful thinking. (Or, yes it is a spirit - and one that needs to be kicked out immediately.)
So first - find a way of keeping records. They don't have to be detailed. I learned spirit communication at a keyboard and transcribed the conversation as I went. This is useful for detailed interactions, but hardly necessary for most practice sessions.
A post-it note marking yes or no for your true/false verifications will serve as well. Whatever's simple.
Look for 2-4 verifiable things in your everyday life which you can use to practice and test your skills.
This doesn't mean 2-4 practice sessions a day. Just keep your eye out for a few things that you can use to practice on. We want to try and find a couple of categories, if possible:
Yes/no verification: Something that you do in your life which has close to a 50/50 outcome probability (rolling a die or flipping a coin works fine).
Roll a die
Flip a coin
Which of her 2 pairs of shoes will Samantha wear today?
My car key only works if I put it in the ignition one way, so it's a 50/50 chance the car will start
Stuff like that
Verifiable information-gathering: A way for you to read on situations, people, objects, etc., before you verify the truth.
What sandwich is this next customer going to order?
Which version of the boss will spawn in this raid?
What mood will the professor be in today?
Our real goal here is to find actual situations we can test our psychism against and know for sure if we're being psychic - or not.
You don't want to overdo it with the verifiable stuff. It can be disheartening. Think of verifiable readings more as tests, rather than lessons. If you start with a success rate of "average" (wrong half the time), you might quickly talk yourself out of future practice.
But if you can outline for yourself what is verifiable and what isn't, you can start making choices about when you want to test yourself versus when you want to explore your skills on creative play mode.
Suppose you want to Be Psychic, but you aren't sure which kind of psychic to try and be (clairvoyant? Clauraudient? etc.) Well, never mind about that. The clairs- are like art styles. You don't set out choosing to copy one. You start out by psychism for a while and then the way you end up doing it the most is your style.
This may take a little while to work out, but that's alright. The time will pass regardless, we might as well doing something with it. Start out practicing with things like this:
Ask yourself if the house plant soil is dry, and pause for a moment to see what comes to mind.
Be open to anything - memories, music/audio clips, mind's eye visualization, visualized or internally "heard" words, a feeling in your tummy, an emotional sensation, a tickle in your hands, a sudden and apparently unrelated urge, etc.
Mark down what comes to you.
Then, see if it's right.
The correlation may not make much sense, and it doesn't need to. Don't question things too much at the beginning.
Suppose I ask myself if the house plant soil is dry, and I suddenly recall a video clip of an actor flipping someone off. I test the soil, and it's wet. Well, weird, but whatever.
The next time, I do the same operation, see the same actor - this time he's rolling his eyes - and the soil is dry.
The third time, I see the actor flip me off, and the soil is wet.
None of these flashes would apparently have anything at all to do with soil wetness. I might not have any idea why I'm seeing what I'm seeing - until three years later, when I put it together that this plant is just an asshole and is tired of having to explain to me how to take care of it; it came with a little instruction booklet, after all, and I'm boring it by having to ask every single time.
So there's no need to really obsess with symbolism. Sometimes plants want to expressly convey that they're being rude to you. Sometimes the feeling of excitement in your stomach is the plant's thrill of anticipation of getting water. It may not make sense at the time, and it doesn't need to.
The most important thing is keeping records and seeing if your instincts and interpretations are correct.
Then, after five weeks of this strange and rude nonsense, you walk into a plant nursery and gosh darn if you can explain it, but that plant in the corner is flipping you off. Go and test it, and see if you're not at all surprised at how dry the soil is.
Just start practicing. Practice now, with lots of things - lots of different things.
Some people can accurately read objects, but not living things (and vice-versa).
Some people are excellent at seeing auras, but couldn't tell you what a person is about to say next - and vice-versa.
Some people are scary good with yes/no interpretations, but can't answer open-ended questions (vice that versa, if you get my drift).
Some people can commune with nature-based spirits very well, but not non-earthen astral ones - and so on.
It's really unfair to yourself (and inaccurate to boot) to just start out reading, like, "what card will I draw next?" type questions and fail at it and then think you'll never be a real psychic. I've gotten like, people's real names in readings before and I've never once accurately called the next card drawn better than chance.
Not everyone can read every sort of thing.
A good place to start is to read on things that fascinate you and inspire you. At the very least, passion will provide a leg-up to getting practice time in.
Suppose you actually have chosen a specific sort of psychism to practice.
This is probably easier than just standing still and seeing which one comes to you (the downside is, if you don't know yourself well enough to know where to start, you could be swimming upstream while your natural talents languish in the corner).
It's easier because you can significantly fine-tune what sort of input you'll accept right from the start.
Want to have Second Sight? Well then once you ask your question and see what comes, you'll only be considering visual input (that is, mind's eye or projected visualization).
If you want to have Hearing, only accept linguistic input (whether "heard" within your mind, the same way you "hear" people talking in your memories, or whether you "see" words, or just gain an immediate Knowing that's cemented through language, etc).
But the process is the same - start asking questions, make a bit of space in your mind (a second or so will do), and see what comes to you.
Pay attention to it, keep records, and verify what you can.
You don't need to practice all the time or X amount of times per week, or whatever. Does psychism interest you? Add it to your life as an interest, a hobby - a passing fancy, even. Pull it out to entertain yourself while waiting in lines or bored at work. Or, make whole afternoons out of playing with it.
My only recommendation is that you give it several months of practice (say, at least six) before you throw in the towel. Again, I don't mean months of daily practice. Just have it on your plate, as a part of your life.
It's my experience that for witches, psychism interplays into a lot of other skills and experiences (divinatory skill, magical skill, the spirits around you, the gods around you, personal initiations, etc) so if you don't have results in this period of your life, you may certainly get results later on.

So there is this AU swimming in my head where RVB characters are from different time periods and gets dumped into some place and are forced to interact.
Im not too sure on exact time periods for them, but an approximation of them.
But who is from the future, Wild West, and stuff?
Carolina and Church are future people trying to do something I don’t know what and accidentally pulled people at first before doing it on purpose kind of.
The people they pull they don’t get to choose who fits into what they are looking for.
But things….
All of our lovely sims are in the cast with a few of the freelancers.
Simmons is a trans man stuck in an era that doesn’t support him. He gets pulled after he finally runs a way. Well he was born with one leg and he kind of got hurt so he was bleeding pretty bad. Yeah he was a mess on the floor. He was scared and begged them not to hurt him or drag him back to his father.
I’m thinking he’s a lower aristocrat’s only child that was out of wedlock during a time of arranged marriages and stuff. He has his mother’s knife that his cousin gave him before going overseas for war. His father tells him that he’ll be marrying some merchant’s son named Gene or whatever and be grateful. He hates it and he feels bad being called his name. He likes his grandfathers name more.
Blugh what an xss!
Once he finally calms down and gets patched up, he accepts what’s happening and loves all the mechanisms he’s never seen before.
They all catch on to what he doesn’t see and don’t know what to do. Except Sarge, Kai, Donut, and Grif.
Sarge boasts about doing his own top surgery before growing a beard and enlisting into the army. Simmons finds himself drawn in and in full admiration for some reason.
Kai has Grif’s support, they would absolutely know how to get him accept little things to get him warmed up to the idea of him being him.
Donut is full of support and advice and is very friendly!
They get Simmons out of his shell enough to see his eyes sparkle some times. Sarge makes Grif Simmons’ personal carrier since they don’t have access to a wheelchair.
Grif is just glad Kai and Donut convinced Simmons it was okay to wear pants. He’d trip over that long xss dress that didn’t belong any where near Simmons.
So they end up spending a lot of time together and even sneak off. I can imagine them in the shallows of water at night talking and Grif teaching Simmons how to swim.
They get real close and Tucker and Kai and Donut try to spy on them sometimes. They individually have to cover each others mouths so they don’t blow their cover just to scream , “JUST FXCKING KISS ALREADY!!! DXMN IT!!!”.
Eventually as other things happen Sarge is more than happy to reintroduce Simmons to the group.
When Simmons gets a prosthetic leg, he gets so excited and runs up to Grif and pulls him a way to do what they usually do but Grif doesn’t have to care him any more!
He can still carry him once in a while though <3
On to other people….
Wash gets trauma sometime before getting pulled but I’m not sure which era and what gives him PTSD.
I know I said I was moving on to other people, I want to say this:
Simmons can cook really good, his father thought that was beneath an elite individual and banned him from going to the kitchen ever again.
Tricks and skills he’s learned:
Piano, violin, proper etiquette, dancing, knife things from his cousin, cooking from his mom, sewing from his grandmother, poison and plants from his grandfather.
The only one that has a problem with Simmons is his father and literally has no reason or excuse to be. Too bad Simmons got stuck with his dad being the only family member he had beside his grandmother. She refuses to die simply for Simmons sake until she gets murdered passes from natural causes.
She was actually the only reason he stayed after his cousin was considered KIA. Never found the body though. It’s been years, where did you go?
Simmons finds a book no one listens to him explain. (It’s the manual, for what? Something he has control of now :3) They are in for a surprise :3
Simmons is his cousin’s last name.
Anyways, I don’t want to separate Grif from pizza so he is in time period where there is pizza even if it’s one of the early versions that’s actually called pizza.
He found a thing called Oreos and worship them.
He also wants to kiss Simmons so fxcking bad, but doesn’t see all the signs. Simmons has no personal space with Grif and only Grif. Kai sticks to Simmons side at first to help him out and gradually slides farther a way to help her brother.
One night they find alcohol and they all talk.
They learn Simmons has more unwanted experience than wanted and that the only one that is considered experience (because it was wanted) is Simmons eating a girl out. Simmons is Bi.
Simmons invites Wash to the virgin club along with Doc. Wash declines and Doc agrees.
Tucker has Junior beside him sleeping. His baby boy <3
Carolina and Church still trying to figure out some bull crxp with the unground lab on the island they are on. Some are not helping like they think they are. Caboose.
The library in the villa is where Simmons is during the day when he isn’t with Grif.
Caboose, Donut, Lopez are sometimes making sandcastles competing with Tucker, Junior, Kai.
Grif is in the kitchen making food for Simmons and him when Simmons is in the library.
Wash is training with Sarge and whoever else from the freelancer group I haven’t a clue.
When Locus and Flex show up as antagonists somehow Locus enters the fold. He tries not to get too close to Simmons, Kai, or Junior for reasons.
Donut definitely didn’t throw a water balloon at Grif’s head from across the beach for revenge and spite.
Doc and Dr. Grey are having lessons on being a good doctor when she shows up.
Eventually things pick up when Temple and his (small) group + Zealot soldiers do the thing that start the problems that got them all stuck together.
When things get bad, Simmons realized what the book he found goes to. He summons Tex kind of and he’s under her protection now. He is also learning coding and glad he doesn’t have to go back to his era. He doesn’t exist until now after all.
Learning his cousin becomes the kings advisor was a shock, but he’s glad they are okay.
I didn’t write for everyone because I got stuck at Grimmons moments <3

Hi hi! I had the idea of Larissa and Fern supervise a school trip to an arcade but getting very competitive on the games machines
All Fun and Games
Larissa Weems x OC (Fern Rogers)
Authors Note: Omg this is an adorable idea. Thank you.
Tumblr media
"Dr. Rogers, I really don't understand how this is an educational field trip." Larissa whispered as you walked through isles of arcade games. You were still in the budding stages of a will-they-won't-they relationship and tensions remained high between the two of you. Due to a bit of nepotism, you convinced Larissa of a field trip for your advanced botany students.
"They are learning the power of teamwork." You pointed to Yoko at the side window of a crane machine, guiding Enid so she could win the stuffed animal of her choosing.
"Be serious. This has nothing to do with plant science, does it?"
You stop out of the way near a basketball simulation game and Larissa towers over you with her hands on her hips. You grin up at her, pushing your luck, "Larissa... You asked absolutely no questions when I asked to take the kids on a field trip and then you insisted on coming with. I didn't think you would be so slow on the uptake. Did you even read the forms when I brought them to you?"
Larissa hadn't looked at the forms. She was too busy staring at you as you leaned over her desk, talking to her about something she couldn't remember. She had been internally kicking herself for allowing her crush on you to permit such an oversight on her part.
"You could get into serious trouble for a stunt like this."
You reach out, grasping at one of the buttons on her jacket and play with it between your fingers. You tilt your head to look up at her, putting on your sweetest tone, "The only one that will get me into trouble is you... You wouldn't do that to me, would you?"
Larissa glances around, not wanting any students to see her melting at your touch. She bit the inside of her cheek, knowing that she was going against everything in herself, "You are pushing your luck, Rogers. I'll give you one pass."
"Goody, care for a round of skee-ball?"
-------
Larissa hip-checked you, trying to prevent you from getting another 100 points in the top corner. You had been going back and forth, playing round after round. You were in the lead by only one game, so there was a lot riding on these next few tosses.
"Don't mess up, don't mess up, don't mess up." Larissa kept repeating to you as her fingers prodded your side, causing you to let out a laugh.
"You are a cheater." You laugh as your next two balls end up in the 10 and 20 due to her distraction. You give her a shove with your elbow, focusing on our final two throws, only one ending up in the 100 hole of the top right corner, "Ha! Suck it!"
Your score appears in bright lights at the top of the machine: 180. It was your highest score yet. You couldn't help but be a sore winner as you did a little dance. Larissa repressed a smile, "This isn't over yet."
What you hadn't noticed was students watching your interactions. Bianca had grabbed Yoko by the arm, pointing out the laughing and touching between you and Principal Weems, "Principal Weems has the hots for Dr. Rogers."
Larissa had been grinning the whole time, her eyes never leaving you. The students had never seen her out of her shell like this. She was much more rambunctious than her typically reserved self. Enid was added to the group of students, then Ajax and Xavier. They all talked amongst themselves, trying to dissect every smile and word. Enid was perhaps the most excited about it all as she slapped Ajax's arm wildly when Principal Weems took hold of your arm when she won the next round.
------
"Rogers and Weems sittin' in a tree." Enid's voice rang out from the back of the bus. You only smiled as Larissa rose up from her seat, turning around to give her a death glare.
Larissa settled back down in the seat next to you, shaking her head in annoyance. You only smiled, taking her hand in yours and pulling it into your lap. A smile spread across Larissa's lips as you quietly sung the rest of the tune, "K-I-S-S-I-N-G."

I just wanted to say that me and skulls-soul love your work so much. It's probably not that hard to tell but we are massive fans, your King Boo's are amazing, and your art as a whole is just awesome to look at. We love your art
Anyways I should probably leave an ask since this is the ask box so, which one out of the 3 KB's is your favorite to draw? If you don't have a specific one then which do you prefer the design of. I would love to hear headcanon's about them if you are willing to share
Waaa thank you guys that means so much 🥺
Tumblr media
I love drawing them all ofc! It's so hard to choose which one I prefer the design of also, they all have good things 😔 but I'm pretty sure Sunshine's my fav one out of the three designs :3
And I have a few HC's I've been thinking about latley
#1: ALL OF THEM HAVE BEEN HIT BY THE AUTISM BEAM
Dark Moon:
Loves to paint in their spare time, mainly studies of the plants he owns :3. Sometimes Prisboo paints with them-
Doesn't understand most slang words or memes/jokes so it usually asks their siblings to translate/explain some things (poor thang got destroyed by you just lost the game bc of them....and you did too B])
Plays chess sometimes and makes their siblings play with them, Party's good at it while Sunshine is still learning
Learned to cook because of Luigi and has enjoyed doing it ever since, likes baking the most. They also love making Focaccia bread because of the flower designs :3
Hates bright lights, prefers to be in dim barely lit rooms
Very introverted, likes to stay at home most of the time- except when visiting his siblings, Luigi and Peach (I see them as besties)
Goes by Boosimir, only some people can call them that though
Party:
She enjoys reading when they're not busy, specifically sci-fi and horror. They have a large collection of books as well
They love playing video games such as Minecraft, Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing and Pikmin (he also likes games like Doom :3)
Sometimes goes invisible to sneak into games, did this once in Mario Super Sluggers (they do this at Movie Theaters also)
Is the oldest by a few minutes, calls Dark Moon little sibling because of it hehe- and Sunshine is the youngest
Besties with Daisy >:3
Very competitive (Becomes a menace in Mario Kart, mainly bc of how I play hehe)
Likes to host parties sometimes, mainly for other Boo's though- it's not too fond of people
Dislikes loud noises but tolerates them
Used to go by Big Boo before being King (sm64), but is also called Boodwin
Sunshine:
Grows his own herbs (if you know what I mean hehe), DM actually helped them figure out how to start growing them too
It's favorite fruit is durian :3, pineapples and mangoes are also a big fav of theirs
Likes getting tattoos, like the Phanta Manta one on their back :3- also lets others draw on him sometimes, mainly the lil boos
Is more of an cool uncle than a dad to the Boo's, though some of them call him dad sometimes
More outgoing than the other two, usually the best at making friends with others. When you work at a Casino you're gonna be interacting with a bunch of people so yeah-
Sometimes makes people lose on purpose, esp if they were rude to the staff. And finds it hilarious when people waste all their coins on a game.
Enjoys traveling on their free time, been just about everywhere on Isle Delfino and the other Islands surrounding it :3
Goes by Tropicaboo (which is named after Tropicabug from Bugsnax bc I am a nerd)

HARU LEE / COSMIC. ASTRAL PROJECTION.
001.  GENERAL
name:  Haru Lee nicknames:  Ru ( like rue ) age: 30 date of birth:  March 4th, 1993 zodiac:  Pisces place of birth : New Haven, Connecticut current residence:  New York gender:  Cis Woman pronouns:  She/Her sexuality:  Bisexual occupation:  Ballet Teaching Assistant
faceclaim: Kang Seulgi height : 5' 3" tattoos:  None piercings:  Ears ( earlobes ) distinguishing features:  Jet black hair and sharp eyes positive traits: Diligence & affable negative traits:  Insecure & pessimistic likes:  Lo-fi & 80's synthwave music dislikes:  Bugs/insects fears:  making mistakes hobbies:  anything distracting: watching shows/movies, blasting music through her headphones at dangerous volumes habits:   listening to the sounds of rain/storms to help her sleep
002.  EXTRA ORDINARY
tw: head injuries, mention of medical procedures
haru was performing in a competition in a group of four. she still can't recall how exactly it happened. she was doing a turn she had done a thousand times, and the next thing she knew she was falling off the stage. when her family and friends retell the story they all talk about the sickening sound of her head hitting the floor. how it thundered over the music still playing.
there were complications. her brain had swelled, and surgery was required. her mom was horrible at recounting the events but the gist is she was put into a medically induced coma and they weren't sure if/when she would wake up. she was in it for 9 months because her mom had refused to give up.
one of the few things she remembers were instances of sort of out-of-body experiences. she could see her hospital room where her mom would be by her bedside or a nurse would be checking on her. then those out-of-body experiences continued when she was able to return home and sleep in her own bed. but they were a little different.
it often happened while she was asleep. she had never been able to lucid dream before but after looking online that's what she chalked it up to be. though when it extended past people in her vicinity she became suspicious.
NOW, she can easily put herself into a trance when she wants to astral project.
it will still happen when she is asleep, even when she doesn't want it to. although her physical body is "resting," she will feel tired when it happens during the night.
Things she can't do yet:
project for longer than three hours before she begins feeling negative effects (fatigue, migraines, unable to focus)
project while conscious
interact with physical objects while projecting
shield/protect her body while away from it
Things she can do:
plant ideas/suggestions in others' heads while in astral form through a whisper that the other can't actually hear
interact with non-corporeal beings (in astral form)
choose whether or not she wants to be seen by others in her astral form
project anywhere of her choosing
truthfully, she doesn't think much of her power. she can't imagine herself using it for some greater good or evil. so she is just doing what she wants with it and actively trying to learn more about it/ how she can control it; to what end? she doesn't know yet.
codename COSMIC was given to her by her friend with vague descriptions about space and traveling the cosmos in her astral form with metaphors that didn't make sense. haru thought it was silly and rolled her eyes any time she was called that, but it's pretty, so it grew on her. she doesn't mind being called 'cosmic', but she prefers her real name
003.  EXTRA
Haru is a second-generation Korean-American. Her Korean is good but not enough to escape some criticism from her grandparents for not being fluent.
She moved to New York a few years ago to further her career in ballet. She has been dancing since she was five.
Haru lives alone in a one-bedroom apartment. Her parents will still help her financially even though she never really asked them to (but she's still gonna take it)
Her older sister is deceased. She died while Haru had been in a coma. They were very close.
She has not performed since the accident out of fear something bad will happen. So, she chose to help teach kids ballet instead.
Wanted connection - her bestie that gave her a codename. Gender doesn't matter. Close in age to Haru ~30-35.

so much has changed across time. the leverage of security over adventure or experience, translating to quite metaphorical, yet literal, fences around our home, around what we know, around what we love. i had this experience today. i went out for a walk with lucky. an accidentally long, but beautiful and engaging one. i listened to music, cratering myself in the fascination of the trees, the assumed silence of the world, the sonder. lucky and i were approaching a driveway to our right, where an older lady stood as she used a stick to shake down leaves from a tree that lives in front of her home. i thought it was beautiful— the falling of the reddish-amber ombre leaves, it's dispersion as it settled, the action that warranted curiosity amidst my rivet? i told her, as i was across the street, "she's beautiful!" there wasn't a thank you, but a pause after her acknowledgment. then, she said something about the leaves. i wasn't sure exactly what it was, so i walked over. she began speaking to me about the contrast between the leaves from the tree in front of her home, which was planted by her mother, and a beech tree her neighbor recently trimmed, which she was upset about, why she chooses a specific time to shake the leaves down as it fertilizes the soil, the whole 9. there was a sort of warmth in this. it was my first physical social interaction today and though genuine, there was a feeling of overstimulation. then, she mentioned how there's a park nearby and we could see the healthier version of the beech tree, "it's helper," she called it, as they tend to grow in two's. then, the discomfort came. but i said, "why not!" so, as we walked through this sort of sinuous trail through her backyard, we talk more about the trees and her home. meanwhile, i had this sort of hesitance or was reticent in my exposure entirely, in cratering myself in that moment, because i had taken precaution. is this safe? is this a lure? that created the distance between myself and her, physically and socially. but, isn't this what i wanted? genuine experiences and social interactions that i can learn from? to discover? that pushed me to keep walking forward. then, we arrived. and it was gorgeous. there was a park— that was reassurance. there were people— that was safety. i thought about this a lot. we fall at the mercy of our own comfort in seclusion or security, which can present caution or resistance to the tributaries that branches from the stream of our wont lives.
