This part really struck me, and I wanted to draw it! Luffy is just trying to protect his little family, and while the Lapins nearly got them killed, he still helps pull one out of the snow....because he recognizes they're trying to protect their family too. And I love that ;v;

Back with my zolu brrt again!!

As a zolu fan i know that i tend to focus on luffy and zoro so soo muchh, and maybe that's why i can't ever shut up about them, but anyway-

Thinking about how when it comes to anything relating to luffy, zoro's responses... they always stands out? Like i don't know how to explain it, but let it be his response being the first/last one shown (too many examples for this one) or the significance of the words he says, like it's just-

Sometimes in big or even small moments when luffy talks about something, or has defeated someone, or at least about to... in those kind of situations when the others are silent, or their responses are not immediately shown, it's usually zoro who seems to have something to say??

(not in order of the arcs btw!)

In drum island arc, when luffy asks for chopper to join the crew, only zoro shown to adds a little comment..

Or in alabasta, how his responses to anything luffy-related always stands out?? (that smile?)

Tbh... during the alabasta arc, usually it's just a zoom in of vivi reacting to luffy and then followed by zoro's reaction (but vivi is literally the princess and important to this arc so like...)

Like he is not the only one who always makes his reactions known, but i just can't help but to notice him?? In dressrosa, during the "lucy luffy has made his entrance!!!" part, there's just something about his expression- his smile?? (proud bf reaction) or during luffy's fight, zoro with his "hurry, luffy!!" line (again, emphasizing on zoro's reaction to luffy)

Or after defeating doflamingo.. franky's reaction is shown first before zoro's, but like i said earlier "....let it be his response being the first/last one shown or the significance of the words he says"

And of course about zoro's reaction to ace's death and later to 3d2y

Also his reaction in enies lobby, punk hazard and in water 7??

Like i can't mention every single moment from the animanga (of course, cuz there are too many of em), but when his reactions to things relating to luffy are shown, i just can't help but to pay close attention to him?? pay attention to him and let my eyes linger just a little bit longer (my bias for zolu definitely contributes to that fact, but well, i am a zolu truther) Like zoro pays attention to his captain so muchh, i just can't??

Like sometimes with luffy it really is "zoro-tachi"

i LOVE the recurring theme of luffy entrusting his straw hat to nami, it's such a beautiful action that shows how much he cares and trusts her, and it all started from orange town where Nami was the one to understand how important the hat is to him and offered to fix it for him

A Lot has happened and I'm enjoying myself immensely for different reasons reading OP but this tiny interaction between zoro and luffy when they found out about zoro's bounty before skypeia has been stuck in my head for hours it's so cute

So I started One Piece recently and like I had a very vague idea of some of the characters beforehand so I was like yeah Zoro is the secondhand to Luffy he's cool as fuck he's a badass with swords and he must be like the "serious" one in the group. And yeah he's got some pretty awesome moments obviously he knows how to fight and he says some badass lines and motivation but oh my god. The duality of man cause that's all true but what's even more true is his energy as like. A little feral cat just trying to make it in this world with his one braincell. Nobody warned me how endearingly stupid he is all the time. He's so cool but he's also SUCH a loser at the same time. He's perfect.

Okay I’m kinda behind on my thoughts because I was sick and reading way more than I should during that, as well as knowing drum island hurts to think about, but here’s my thoughts anyways

Nami’s skills as a navigator are unmatched, and another reason why I love her so much as a character, she’s truly like no other in that department. I also really like that when she gets sick the Straw Hats very much don’t know what to do, but they care about her so much and want to make sure she’d be alright

I also love that when they get to drum island, when the people attack, Luffy’s first reaction is to fight, but Vivi, who knows that just force isn’t going to solve anything, acts as a diplomat due to her experiences, and manages to get the people to help them. It’s both a lesson that Luffy needed to learn, and a moment to show Vivi’s character, and how she truly has what it takes to be a ruler at her young age, as contrast to whatever the fuck Wapol is doing

And we drive that idea home, Vivi and Wapol (who sucks but serves his purpose in the arc) are two kinds of rulers, and the differences between them are shown again and again. Vivi’s mindset is later going to challenge the ideals of Crocodile in Alabasta, and I think it’s all great consistency of Vivi’s characterisation

And oh my god how I love Chopper I adore Chopper I’m so happy to be introduced to him again I’m so happy he’s part of this crew

But on the topic of Chopper, yeah, knowing his backstory doesn’t help at all because I have once again been a mess when going through it. I will admit I get emotional when reading or watching something, but there’s very little stories that affected me as much as Chopper’s story and Hiriluk’s speech. It’s all so perfectly crafted and another proof of how genius this series is

The culmination of this arc comes in the stand off against Wapol, the king that doesn’t care for his people, and I it’s an alright fight, but the highlight for me, like for many others, is Luffy risking his life to protect the flag. It’s such a good conclusion to the themes in this arc, and though Luffy didn’t know Hiriluk, he stands for what he stood for, and just like the man said, he’s still alive, because his will lives on

SPEAKING OF WILL I’m still ver interested in what the will of D is exactly, as ever since this moment we’ve been getting mentions of it again and again, so that set up is good as well, just like the first mentions of Blackbeard and Ace

#libra.txt #the subtle drumbeat in the tenth plague that mirror the heavier drum in paradise will rise again.... #it's SUCH a good touch #water well.... the light percussive block that mimics water dripping..... #each plague's theme is also just SO good #i love the first plague and how it adds to the atmosphere #in how we the player are first being introduced to paradise island but also jakob remailiarising himself with it #it's a gentle theme. it hides the horror and tragedy to come #also how the last plague + paradise will rise again are the only tracks that have the effect where it sounds almost like a woman's voice #which could lead one to think abt caroline and her corrupted soul and how she desperately wanted jakob to survive. #how she had spent so long trying to protect him but now she's /dead/ and can barely influence the living world #but when jakob embraces her corrupted soul they're reunited and can become enlightened. together. she still saves him in the end #GAH. the dead mom trope where she still haunts the narrative except she's LITERALLY haunting the narrative #hi caroline i am thinking abt you again. whoops
