I'm adoring the heart of Only Friends

I gotta admit I was a bit unsure going into this show how much heart our genuinely messy queer Jojo show was going to have. But every episode I get more blown away, because along with our fun mess, we are getting so much heart.

Heart is my personal favourite part of the three Jojo shows I've seen prior to this (Gay OK Bangkok, The Warp Effect and 3 Will Be Free) and OF is absolutely sticking with the trend.

What I mean by heart, fyi, is the you can be empathetic and sympathetic to every single character because Jojo is good at making his characters HUMAN, rather than making heroes and villians.

(You get to wish Ray would speak up, while wishing Sand would ASK. You get to understand that Ray can't speak because he doesn't think he's important to Sand, and that Sand can't ask because Ray has already said their just friends, all the while forgetting that Ray only says that because Sand insisted on it first.)

(You get to know that Mew called Boston for advice, maybe because what he wanted wasn't advice, but a final push because he's already gone over Top and he just want's someone to say "Yes you should do this" and he knew Boston would say it. and Boston gives good advice: go on, have fun, he won't get bored and use protection! even while he is wondering how the fuck he got to this point)

(You get to watch Nick try so hard for Boston, in every way he can think of. He looks so content in Boston's arms and yet he looks so broken at Ray's warning because he ALREADY KNOWS and he considers it far too late.)

You get to know about Boston's blackmail, and Nick's blackmail. You get to know about Top's inability to sleep and Ray's inability to stop drinking. You get to know the Ray grew up alone while Sand grew up surrounded. You get to understand that even as Ray moves on from his romantic feelings for Mew, Mew will remain an important part of his life, because having someone as your emergency contact isn't erased just because you're no longer in love with them. You get to know Top regrets sleeping with Boston, and that he genuinely cares about Mew even as you know that Mew is about to consider Top's history as a huge betrayal.

Every single episode reveals pieces of these characters which makes my heart ache and my understanding grow.

It also makes my brain burn because we're only 5 episodes in and there's so much more to come...

and I love it.

Because putting all my heart and soul into these characters is safe, not because anything is guaranteed to end well, tied up in a neat little bow, but because their choices are going to make sense, their choices are going to be motivated by empathy and sympathy and love, but also anger and hate and lust and jealousy. Because these characters are human, young adults in their 20s, and humans are the sum of so many complicated life experiences.

So Jojo's shows are special, because they're full of humans. And humans are special because they are full of heart.

and that's what I'm loving most about Only Friends.

HELLO WILLRY HEADCANONS WHAT ARE THEY

I HAVE SO MANY WILLRY HEADCANONS DUDE. UH UH UH I REQUEST YOU TO ASK MORE SPECIFIC QUESTIONS IF U WISH. But i will blabber for now.

I will go... chronological. Maybe. Very undetailed/detailed in specific and nonsense ways.

THEY MET IN COLLEGE BECAUSE OF COURSE THEY DID. Henry coming from literally like 10~ years of prior homeschooling (could not go to school because. Its hell. and he had breakdowns often). William being shipped over straight from a boarding school.

Their uh. Aquaintenceship starts rocky. William is an angsty almost-adult that needs to control and bully and hurt things and weird people out to get a reaction. Henry is a thing that seems to have no limits, and does not bat an eye at literally any of William's behaviors(doesnt care or geniunely doesnt know that those behaviors are not appropriate (probably engages in some himself))

UH anyways general bullying turns to William annoyingly sticking his nose in Henry's business and going "is that your fursona?" "Yea" "thats cringe" "ok." "... tell me about it."

William gets feelings first. Henry gets feelings soon after.

William gets special interest in Henry(sort of. Mostly a joke but yknow what i mean). Foxy and SpringBonnie are developed around now.

Henry begins to trust William a LOT. he's geniunely interested in what Henry has to say and is extremely supportive of his projects. (Theres def.s some general belittleing maniupulation shit but yknow williams still an asshole, its not like he's a evil villian mastermind he's just an asshole teenager). Henry also hates William, who still picks on him and causes issues and-- aaannd aaand. They get into a fight, privately. Mostly because of Bill pushing his luck and Henry already being worn thin. William gets the shit knocked out of him (and all the sense knocked out, too.). Henry is mentally exhausted and shutting down.

They get to have their first weird intimate moment, or whatever it is like after you have a giant fight. William confirms his crush.

Jojo meets Henry. Henry loves Jojo and JoJo loves henry and theres lots of stuff i can say here but YOU ASKED FOR WILLRY SO: Henry likely compares how he feels about Jojo to how he feels about Bill, and realizes that they are... similar. Very similar.

(Jojo: here is my husbans and here is my husband's boyfriend)

Henry starts to think about (genderly ambigious) springbonnie and projects some feelings onto it.

William's grossness never left but presence of Jojo gets him angry and jealous and Generally swings from I HATE HENRY to HENRY IS LITERALLY MY SAVIOR constantly. Habit starts and never ends.

ANYEAYS ANHWAYS TAILEND OF COLLEGE i think their most important bonding moments are while creating.

Brainstorming ideas off one another. Henry spending ages constructing this perfect plan, measuring, constructing small prototypes, then doing the final thing all in one go. William starting with a spark, making it, adding on, removing, revising, until it's completed. And they both take the same time to do it.

Most of their conversations become the Diner and their Creations. Projecting thoughts and emotions through Fredbear and Springbonnie. "I'm having a kid." "That's awesome man, anyways how do you feel about the visibilty of the performer-eyes." "I think it's visible enough... another coat of paint would look better."

It defiently becomes a sort of safe haven fantasy world, for the both of them. William's already pretty troubled, and gets more stressed with family life. Henry's... also already pretty troubled, and gets a LOT more stressed with the death of Jojo(and his daughter to raise by himself).

I do think Charlie spent a lot of time in the workshop (garages). I still think she was neglected pretty hard lol BUT henry fucking loved her he just is bad at being a bad. Go pay attention to your kid u jackass.

Anyways i think Fredbear+SpringBonnie are developed into their fantasy. I want to live out my days, just you and me, happy and bantering forever.

And then William's youngest dies.

Fredbear = Henry. Henry created everything, William might fancy himself the mastermind but Henry was the one who physicay created everything, who kept up maintence, who killed his son.

William could never bring himself to hurt Henry. Henry is part of HIS fantasy, if he'd destroyed him then William would have nothing left.

He needed this world more than anything else. He needed it to be everything, to retreat into it. He needed Henry to follow him, to abandon the real world that he was still, barely, tethered to.

Pspspspsppsspss charlie cmere.

okayOKAY MOSTLY DEPRESSING AFTER THIS but i do rlly think Henry is still very much ALSO attached to Fredbear and SpringBonnie and their world.and you knoe the guy has dreams(and nightmares) about it constantly. He runs Fredbear and Friends on the tv in the background and sobs into his beer bottle.

Theyre weird together. Heart emoji. I geniunely do think they love eachother. Henry still loves the Bill he knew.

I really think stone ocean is under appreciated so yeah that's a good pick, pucci is a fucking awesome villain (and also kinda hot but which JoJo villain isn't honestly) and the ending is so well executed

shame we didn't get to see the iconic anasui mickey moment in the anime though :(

oh for SURE, the anime improved people’s perception of stone ocean a lot, but before? people just straight up used to shit on it <\3 very sad considering i think the last half of so is on par with steel ball run in terms of quality.

i love pucci as a villian too!! the made in heaven arc is peak jojo for sure. stone ocean also improved on jotaro’s character SO MUCH and i honestly think people don’t mention that enough.

(we may have lost the mickey scene, but at least anasui stayed pink <\3 i’ll take what i can get when it comes to anime adaptations lmao)

When your making jojo ocs, what general elements do you use to make ocs? What's your general thought process???

wah!! uhh! im not sure haha

i think its just a matter of feeling it out and make them out of things i think look good or i like.

especially with the jojo ocs, i tend to know the role i want them to play as a character or piece in a story and build them up around that!

my main green boy mac just was built out of stuff i like and things that fitted me and my taste

while Janelle i knew was meant to be a best friend jobro type that was meant to be a companion piece with mac, their meant to go together. so their colors and general vibes are meant to work together! but at the same time i designed his stand Yellow Skie before i designed the stand user Janelle. but it somewhat helped have a building block idea

then characters like Roxanne i really didnt know what i wanted beyond i knew she was a lady villian, wicked bitch and pink. but i literally struggled with her until i saw a photograph of a woman that really spoke to me and i knew it was exactly the vibe i wanted to go with for Roxie and built from there

Then a lot of the others i knew the stand name i wanted them to have and worked backwards from there, designing stands and users that fit the song name.

from there its been a matter of figuring out their story and where they fit in my story which some characters its better than others. Like Whitney despite being the most recently and kinda late addition to my Jojo oc storyline, i knew EXACTLY what i wanted to do with him. but there characters i still have like Doro and Sir Duke that im still not 100% sure what to do with and i still go back and forth on

so its just finding a general vibe you like and not being afraid to keep developing and working on them!

Imitation X

oh my lawd im writing again

Professor Utonium

In imitation X the girls refer to him as father/professor, mostly the latter out of respect (think to kill a mocking bird)

The Professor chooses to be distant from his family. I wouldn't say hes negligent but hes no where near the attentive father as in the show. The reason being is after his wife died all he sees in the girls are her features. Hes a pharmacist! He was a scientist until the death of his wife (there was no medicine created for her illness yet).

There's not much to say about him. He has a temper on him though and is very quick to hand out punishments without listening to the "guilty" girls side of the story. Seeing as Blossom can very easily pass the blame to Buttercup or Bubbles this creates a rift between him and them.

Mojo Jojo

His real name is Joseph but its shortened to Joe (Jojo by the Professor)

Hes the oldest of the Professors children. I like to think he remembers their mom more than the girls do. Speaking of the girls he resents them! While the Prof definitely treats them wrongly he favors them over Mojo by a LOT and it shows. He spent their childhood terrorizing them; from teasing to hitting them, everything from scaring them with made up stories to locking them outside in the rain for hours and worse (ill explain later). Hes done it all with no shame and has no remorse about it.

He also spent an equal amount of time getting into trouble on purpose. He is smart so most of it couldve been avoided but seeing as negative attention is all he gets from prof? He gets caught on purpose. Until an ex of his came forth and admitted that he got her pregnant and the Prof kicked him out (enter the rowdy ruffs). Because of his behavior during the girlses (???) younger years he became their most common villian in their game which made them more scared of him which in turn made him more cruel to them (because he realized they were more scared and he just wanted to scare them more i guess). After getting kicked out he was taken in by his uncle.

HIM

HIM is a character who will remain nameless for plot purposes.

Hes the Professors flamboyant gay brother. Yeah. The professor sadly doesn't approve of his brothers lifestyle and hasn't so much as uttered HIMs name in years. This lead to the girls completely forgetting his name and just saying HIM much like their dad. He isn't in their lives since the prof doesnt like him. He however holds a lot of love for the girls and Mojo (he does not know the extent of what Mojo has done to them). The only time the Professor and HIM come together without prof being a jerk is the holidays.

Absolutely nothing else to say about HIM so yeah thats it bye bye

okay hear me out...kira is the most underrated jojo villian. i will not be taking comments. anyways this was inspired by an old song fic i did years ago. i updated it and made it a little less cringe. i have so many jojo ideas so hopefully i will post them here

The love between you and Kira Yoshikage was indescribable. It was like nothing you’ve ever experienced in your life. Actions that would normally cause someone to turn their head in disgust only drew you towards the man more.

The love the two of you shared was special in its own unique way. The mind boggling high you got from doing such horrible acts along side the love of your life is what kept you so alive. Your veins were always full of adrenaline.

Warm evenings spent watching and waiting. Coming home in the wee hours of the morning , clothing stained with fresh blood. Making love over the mutilated bodies of women that had been unlucky enough to cross either of your paths. Even the very smell of blood was enough to get you off.

The terrified look on your victims faces was always especially funny to you. They were like stupid rats trying desperately to escape a maze.

Kira snaked his hand around your waist , a wicked grin playing across his lips.

“I’m not sure my love. Originally her hands looked wonderful ,enough to catch the eye of someone like me. But upon closer inspection it seems that I will be not be in need her hands after all. The ones on this women are far too muscular and defined, too much like a man”. He remarked , slipping his hand down your skirt. “I have no use for her anymore”.

You giggled and pulled away from him. “Not in front of herrrr”.

The woman was now thrashing and screaming through the gag you had placed in her mouth to ensure neither of you would get caught.

You rolled your eyes at her antics. “Must you be so dramatic ? Now we won’t have to torture you, you can die a nice peaceful death”.

Her eyes widened , the blues of her eyes shone with fear. You couldn’t help but feel giddy at the sight.

Out of all the women you’ve been so lucky as to capture you hated the especially noisy ones.

Of course you enjoyed the tortured screams that left your victims body but when a crazy women was screaming in your ear while you’re trying to cut her into precise pieces ? Well it’s not easy to say the least. Even through the gag she managed to project her voice.

Wiping the blood off your hands onto a dirtied cloth you wrapped your arms around your lovers waist.

“You look so handsome with blood all over you”.

“Mmm you’re one to talk”. He mused , eyeing you like a piece of meat. “I just want to devour you whole”.

Getting rid of the unnecessary body parts was always the most tedious part of your work. Hands were easy to store in freezers or small coolers. Legs,heads and torsos were a different story.

The entire process was a days worth of strenuous work. Until Kira developed some kind of magic creature called a “stand”.

“What the hell is it”?

“I’d tell you but I don’t know much about it myself. But in short it’s magical cat...like thing that makes stuff blow up”.

Cats had been your favorite animal since you were just a toddler. You loved this being already.

“Can I pet them ? The kitty is so cute”! You said happily.

Kira just shrugged. He figured no harm could come of it.

Oh how you despised that women. Shinobu Kawajiri. She got to spend all her time with your husband while you were stuck on the side lines keeping that Higashikata kid and his idiot friends from finding any clues.

Every day you watched her wake up and act like some kind of common whore. Trying her best to seduce him with every bone in her body. Pitiful.

Despite the copper taste of blood in your mouth you stood back up. You could keep fighting. You didn’t care if it killed you.

“You don’t have to do this Miss Y/n ...don’t you remember who you used to be”? A ridiculous looking school boy shouted at you. What possessed him to wear his hair like that ?

“I am Y/n L/n. I know who I am and I refuse to listen to you brutes. Look at my husband ! He’s almost dead because of you. If you leave us alone there will be no problem”.

The school boy was pushed back , replaced by a large man with the bluest eyes you’ve ever seen. They contrasted perfectly along with his white coat. “He kidnapped you three years ago. I’m sure it’s hard for you to bring those memories back but Y/n it’s the truth”.

You seethed in anger. You didn’t have a stand like everyone else but you were determined to hurt them as best you could.

“I am not a little girl. I went with him by choice. Stay out of of my love life it’s none of your concern. Just leave us be”.

Slowly you opened your eyes. Pain shot through your body. The last you remembered was a bullet coming straight to your face. you weren’t sure how you managed to survive that but you had better things to worry about it.

“Kira ? My love “? you called out , getting to your feet slowly. There he was about a few steps away. He wasn’t moving.

Running over to him you lifted his head off the pavement. There were a plethora of wounds on his head , blood stained through his normally clean suite. His black hair was messy.

“Wake up please wake up”.

You couldn’t imagine a world without Kira. Your life started when you met him.

Slowly his eyes opened. You held his head close to your chest.

“I’m so sorry you got wrapped up in this mans mess” a female voice said sadly placing her hand on your shoulder. You looked up only to be met with a child. She had the most beautiful eyes , her pink hair pulled back neatly.

“W-who are you”

She smiled sadly , a dog...with its throat cut open approached , resting by her side.

“I was your husbands first victim”.

Your face went pale but you refused to abandon him just because of a strangers words.

“No...you can’t be his victim you’re still alive”. You said gesturing to her obviously functioning body, it was too much for your tired brain to process.

“Look Y/n ...you have a choice. I can take you to a beautiful place. You’ll be happy there. Anything you want is yours. Or you can stay with your so called love and be tortured forever”.

Thoughts raced through your head. What was this girl talking about ? We’re you dead ? Is this the work

of an enemy stand user ?

You took a deep breath and held Kira closer.

“I would rather be tortured for all of eternity then live a life without this man. No matter what i’ll stay by his side in life and in death”.

No sooner had the words left your mouth you were surrounded by black. Pain and anguish overwhelmed your body. All you could feel was Kiras hand in yours.

“I’m sorry darling. I should have never brought you into any of this”.

“No..as long as you’re with me everything is okay”.
