I'm very happy to hear you're enjoying yourself despite my own low opinion about much of what I put out. I'll do my best to answer!

Hmm I always dislike picking favorites because I'm bad at picking eheh... But the ones I liked most... I honestly enjoy T&I and COA (1-5) even more than the main story. So I think I might pick... Atropos' Ropes for T&I and for COA, thats harder... 3-5 are my faves but I might pick 4 just because of how it felt it had the most story/details given than all the rest. Even the *SONG* had story. I loved it.

Least fave, eh... Orfeo and Zinaida immediately come to mind, though Orfeo I'd say was worse... COA 1 is another primarily because of how DIFFICULT it was for me to figure it out enough to put together an analysis. And I had to rewrite that thing at LEAST 3 times to the point I'm just hoping it's good enough and leaving it alone. Time of Reunion I think is another that comes to mind, mainly because I didn't appreciate how they treated Norton in there, especially in the videos (but at least those aren't canon like the in-game event was). So based on all that, I might say Orfeo if I really had to pick 1. Then rank ToR 2nd and Zinaida/COA1 3rd.

FF14 and Honkai Star Rail especially I'm playing actively these days, but I honestly like a lot of stuff. Like Persona (espeially 4), 999 aka Zero Escape, and Star Ocean Til the End of Time. Least in terms of games.

Hmm... Maybe because the 1st reason I play a game is because of the story, and gameplay is always 2nd to me. If the story and characters are good, that gets me interested. Issue with IDV is we only get bits and pieces. Really need to look deeper to really understand some of the characters. I actually only started analyzing because I challenged myself (partially out of curiosity for the answer) to see if I could prove if Norton wasn't as evil as people thought (based on all the comments I saw when I 1st joined the fandom a long while ago). From there, there was Jose who I wanted to analyze because he honestly had so many plot holes I couldn't (and still can't completely) solve. So I get the most enjoyment analyzing something that doesn't have a clear answer. Which is why I don't always post for every letter. A big part of it is I enjoy history and culture and such, so it's fun for me to learn about different foods, or time periods, or how bad the environment was for miners or sailors back in the day, etc... I dont think I have an easy answer (I can see I'm rambling). Norton I actually only began to like because I was spending so long working on my 1st analysis for him (and my perfectionism made me analyze all of Norton's essences before i could call it finished). Jose was because I love Captain Hook, and then after because of the plot holes that bothered me. Then for others, I think I enjoy making analyses to... try to sometimes change people's opinoions/beliefs. Like with Margaretha or Vera. With Edgar was because I was more interested in his story and him as a character only once I put together all his lore. Sort of goes on from there. I could ramble on but I'm going to get even more guilty. I hope this helps somewhat, but let me know if it doesn't and I'll keep going. Maybe the simple is A) I like history/culture/research, B) I like to convince people that certain characters arent as evil as they think or change beliefs I think aren't quite accurate, C) I like solving puzzles and I love story, D) I already think too hard about literally everything, and combined with my perfectionism, we get analysis

the anthropomorphization of unpleasant from this fandom has genuinely WRECKED its character and made it. not that unique compared to the other npcs. like i dont know it being this like fucking gooner-type character is so awful? and i really hate it? if anything that trope given to unpleasant should have stayed with scag and ended with her, since she’s a genuine npc with more writing and thoughts attached

i saw people bring up this point again and im glad but HELLO!!!!! LETS STOP JUST ASSOCIATING LAMPERT AS WALLTER AND MARK'S SON? EVEN WHEN IT HAS BEEN DISCREDITED /MULTIPLE/ TIMES? like DAMN this fandom only attributes characteristics if it is attached to literally anyone else besides that person. its horrible. people NEED to learn to find the balance between having fun with that headcanon while also acknowledging lampert as his own separate person that is (to be quite frank) not even associated with them that much in canon

(+ people saying that the headcanon of lampert being wallmark's son is canon and fucking REPLYING saying to people who ship wallter & lampert or mark & lampert that they shouldn't. you are fucking embarrassing)

the regretevator fandom is EXACTLY like the phighting fandom with how shipping is handled. i mean this in not a positive way

people gotta stop relying on the wiki for information man. so much lore from yeucc's tumblr has been retconned and at this point, when there's now WRITERS for the game that are actually keeping tabs, all if not the good majority of what is said on the wiki should be taken with a grain of salt. nowadays the lore is unpredictable, and only a select few (by few i mean like. 4 out of the 17 npcs) has had their lore expanded on significantly

general facts i think is fine so long as theres an annotation backing it but my point still stands . moreso with lore generally

also saw this point being brought up in the qrts but the demonization and infantilization of certain characterss (cough spud pilby pest and poob) is like. wild. i dunno i can't say much since i'm very fortunate enough to not have seen that much but my god is it prevalent from what people are saying

with pest especially since he has npd and aspd i do think that. people generally associating him as evil has NOT been the greatest thing, especially since it reduces him to a stigma of people with personality disorders which is horrific and terrifying. idk what goes on in the background but i feel like the fandom + yeucc & the people working on regretevator should have done more research on the disorders and consulted people who do have these issues better instead of using those labels haphazardly

another thing i will and always will be vocal (dog on) about the axosun team is them keeping gnarpy. like there was no reason to keep xem in other than for revenue gain let's be honest and True to ourselves. the philosophy "ohh but you can separate the art from the artist!!!!" i feel does not really apply to this scenario cause xe got a whole ass revamp despite the obvious fact that it STILL is gnarpy, a character created by a bad person regardless of the ownership change and discredited history. its the underlying thought that they were essentially built off a bad origin if this makes any sense. idk i think it wouldve been better for everyone if xe were just removed ENTIRELY from the game but. you do you i guess

I have SEVERAL songs that represent Yume. Last time I answered a song in this post, that made me think of Yume's overall time in Twisted Wonderland. (It's a sorta long post with analysis.) And @bunnwich has said that "Waiting on a Miracle" from Encanto reminds them of Yume. Most recently the song that represents Yume for me is. Camera's by Matt and Kim.

Who is your OC’s closest platonic friend?

I know I KNOW I DONT TALK ABOUT IT MUCH!

But Ruggie and Yume are besties y'all! They don't really know how it happened either considering Yume disliked his smug aura and hates when people steal from them specifically. And Ruggie can smell a goodie too shoes a mile away. Of course, that's just the surface-level projection of both of them.

Once they get to know each other in and after chapter 2 they both see past that and realize they have things in common and of course a dumb similar taste in humor.

Add that to the fact that Yuuta and Leona "hang out" and also Jack and Yuuhi "hang out", and it leaves Yume and Ruggie as the platonic 3rd wheels. So they kinda just gravitate toward each other during those times too. Don't get them wrong, Grim, Deuce, and Ace were their first friends and hold a special place in their heart. But I think they get along with Ruggie on a very visceral level that they didn't expect lol. Reminds me of this OLD but still good meme:

Tell us about a complicated relationship your OC has with another character?

Last time with this question I talked about Yume's relationship with Jamil! So this time let me talk about Yume's relationship with KALIM!

Oh boy where to start. Yume didn't officially meet Kalim until chapter 4 and was very skeptical meet a genuinely kind person at NRC, especially after getting betrayed by Azul. So when Kalim is just genuinely nice and kind it kinda threw them for a loop. And then he started talking and saying nice things ABOUT Yume. Compliments they've never heard from anyone before! Plus the fact that he was so touchy (in a good way! Yume enjoys casual affection)

And the whole flying carpet under the stars didn't help (even with their brothers with them the whole time.)

So yeah it kinda developed into a big time crush, unfortunately. Though after going through the events of chapter 4 they realize that Jamil and Kalim have their own things to work through and that maybe trying to get into a relationship with Kalim...isn't right at the moment. (Plus all their fear of rejection/vulnerability/ and inexperience when it comes to dating in general. Oh, and not to mention the feelings they're definitely not catching from some shut-in gamer boy too.) Still they don't really shake their crush completely until I'd say the near end of my fic The Diamond in the Rough and the Boy without a Fairy. (Which takes place between chapters 4 and 5 in game)

Though they still find things awkward around Kalim so that leads to them just kind of...avoiding him for a while. It's a lil shitty on their part but eventually Kalim notices and they both officially have a talk of sorts that clears the air in Chapter 5 (during the VDC training camp.) I do plan on writing it one day but right now I'm in the middle of writing other lore!

Definitely Chapter 3! I feel like in me and @bunnwich timeline so many things happen around that time.

The Ramshackle gang getting to know their respective love interests, Yuuta/Yuuhi getting their respective weapons, Yume snapping and going a little insane on how to plan and get back at Azul and showing that they're not just a shy goody goody. It just is a time when the brothers are starting to really feel like they understand and belong in Twisted Wonderland to a degree y'know?

ROBIN THIS ROBO KY SONG ACTTUALLY SLAPS SO HARD genuinely the exact kind of shit i want to listen to while i do homework. lmfao. is this a distorted remix of a different song or did the song just come into existence sounding like this

okay so! Ky's theme of 'Holy Orders' is based off of Robo-Ky's theme 'Holy Orders?'. This is a representation of how Robo-Ky questions everything told to him, including those Holy Orders given to him, by those superior to him. Ky, meanwhile, as the leader of the police and then king of illyria, is the one passing down these Holy Orders. And yet he still needs to question them. He doesn't. Also Ky's theme sounding normal and pleasant to a regular person symbolizes how he desperately wishes to stay lovable and palatable to the people around him, as seen in one of his Guilty Gear XX endings.

It's wild. He pushes himself deep into respectability to make up for the fact that he's in love with a Gear, a being that the entire world hates and is in terror of. He believes that if he can become perfect and respectable enough, then he can achieve the 'points' needed to be happy with his Gear girlfriend-cum-wife and others will be fine with it. This is a metaphor for when queer people try and shove other queer people under the bus in order to appease the hetero-normative majority. Ky Kiske actually comes out as a trans woman in Strive (using he/him around because I honestly forgot and I'm so tired), completing her character arc of learning that some people can never be happy with you and you have to work your energy for people who need it. It's really nice. She's still King of illyria because they went through like ten country shattering disasters in the last 2 years and they can't afford to rebrand everything.

Robo-Ky teaches him that no matter how hard you work, some people will never love you, and the sooner you accept that the sooner you can start working for the people who WILL love you in Guilty Gear 2: Overture, the 17th game in the series. It's very touching, where Robo-Ky reconciles with him for killing his only friend and Ky desperately pretends that he has any idea what he's talking about.

okay so apparently ky ABANDONS 'holy orders' in strive. just another example of why its the worst game in the series (im joking i literally dont care about that game other than venom and his bakery and also delilah as a concpt). Robo-Ky never abandoned 'Holy Orders?' proving that it's truly his theme. also look at how many rivalry themes he has. he needs a WEDDING THEME that plays whenever he FIGHTS his BELOVED WIFE. why do you need so many rivalry themes with your father-in-law. whats the story there (i know what the story is there)

but no yeah i dont enjoy the tech lol. i think modern tech in fantasy is a slippery slope from “woah cool its so interesting how this fantastical society developed things we never couldve thought of” to “this isnt even fantasy its just sci-fi with medieval paint slapped over it” thats what botw vs. totk is to me. we went from giant magical mechs and tech that felt more like sentient creatures to a straight up four wheeler. also its just clunky. to me. vexes me.

i am playing it very slowly for several reasons so im not far im only two memories in (trying to do them in order) lol but im not impressed by the writing either again ive only beat the rito “dungeon” idk what to call it. it was fine. really felt like they just tried to replicate the divine beasts but it didnt work. the weird disembodied voice felt forced in totk its just this random exposition guy that felt like he was just there for the sake of mimicking the structure of the champions talking to you where in botw that makes sense because they’re important characters that you learn more about and play a role in the story and also they literally died and their souls were trapped in their beasts. and totk was like ah shit ah fuck we gotta have another disembodied voice throw this guy in there and have him lore drop on you. who is he. who cares.

and then the divine beasts were like interesting involved puzzles there was one i thiiiink the camel you literally had to turn entire parts of it to line up electrical signals to get places and unlock things it was a little frustrating but i had to think about it!! same with the elephant you had to control the entire mechanism to move things and you had to Think about it. the rito ship was just go find these things. ok the divine beasts were also that with the terminals but you had to work for it. totk really just went go walk around for awhile and find them. no real puzzle to it. there was a little bit with the doors/levers but it did not feel nearly as involved or thought through.

i will say i did like the boss fight the ice guy. cool guy. looked cool baller music neat new little thing you had to do to beat it i liked it. that was cool i will give them that they know how to get me pumped for a boss fight

ok but the cutscene with zelda near the beginning was goofy as hell. just straight up like woaaaahh she floated into the sky thats crazy!!! whaaat!!!!! felt extremely silly. i was sitting there like is this a gag is this supposed to be funny i cannot tell. very much threw me off. could not take seriously

also. fucking. got rid of her again. if they wanted to have the same success of botw maybe they should’ve gee idk changed the formula again and let zelda be with us. a two player zelda game would be so cool. even if it was still single player and we could just interact with her and have her with us im thinking kindof last of us/resident evil 4 style where she helps you do certain puzzles or helps you fight like other npcs. even if she just stayed at the base and helped purah with research and you could talk to her thatd be more interesting. GIVE HER TO ME!!

the intro really just felt like oh we have to get rid of zelda again because we need link to be alone so we can copy botw uhhhhh magic rock teleports her to the past yeah yeah that works. they decided they needed this to happen and then made a story to excuse those choices rather than actually construct something cohesive.

im not even halfway through the game so i dont wanna be tooo hard on it or form strong opinions but id rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointment after getting my hopes up. i havent been spoiled for anything but i have seen people complain in general so im kinda leaning towards disappointment lol. like its zelda im still having fun i just also am looking at it from a critcal point of view and i have plenty to say. i used this as an excuse to talk for a looong time anyways. im currently working on getting specific horse colors that i preplaned by looking at this horse chart to name after characters from a book i like ✌️ i didnt pay 70 dollars to not have any fun with this game so help me god i am going to enjoy Some of it

some ramblings, appreciating deltarunes "layers" of story/lore

I might have already written something about this before, but something that I really love about deltarune is that it's a game that (from what we can tell) has several different layers to the story that are all enjoyable, for different... levels of players to enjoy! Like, you have the upfront stuff, about oh, dark worlds, the knight, and kris' soul (protagonist vs player and such) but its mostly just some young teenagers goofing off going to fantasy worlds and learning some self improvement then you go a tad bit deeper, still things most people may ask and you have... well what the hecks up with dark worlds logistically, why is ralsei, and what dark worlds represent (escapism woah), and for some, secret bosses expanding on the whole free will + kris' soul shenanigans thats where it may end for most people, and i think thats great, that if you arent someone in extreme brainrot about the history of gaster then... i think the game will be very enjoyable without having to think about meta elements! and of course, as good writing tends to be, hints about one "level above" are slowly dropped to those who are below, to help them understand, but you get what im saying, right? its like, big nerds get thinking about the gaster shit earlier, before the game really is gonna start probably hammering in like hey whats up with that voice at the beginning

I do question whether dess will end up being about as secret as like, jevil is, or as secret as the man behind the tree and the mystery of the eggs is. but i feel like shes also a realy good opportunity for being a mystery thats almost entirely deltarune, without needing prior-context of who a random vaguely mentioned character in ut is. still, a lot of vague info is hidden in the files, so perhaps... hmm, well, there was that one abc_123 file where toby was like "don't share stuff from the files, thanks. you cant have secrets nowadays" and then.. i feel like when he changed it to just be laughter, that was his way of saying "alright, i see the game you want to play. ill play along" and thats why... for some people, hes playing the game of hiding mysterious stuff in the code. he knows what hes doing, of course. he knows people love looking in the games code, so hes trying to make it interesting even if people do that overall though i just like how theres different levels of enjoyment of the story so far. im sure the game will end up telling everyone about dess and gaster and such, in some way, but... for most people? itll be a game about the fun gang and their friends learning to become better people, and having some fun wacky adventures on the way there! tldr toby fox does "having different layers to your story" in a fairly interesting, enjoyable way. EDIT: yeah, ill make a v2 of this post. i more specifically am amazed at how you dont NEED to know the deeper layers than you want to, and its. cool !!

and xe is an echo of the original Wyatt Mason, who was a sub-par batter for the LA Tacos until they picked up a Microphone that broke reality, wiped them from existence, and gave them godlike power on Twitter. (look blaseball plot is hard to summarize im doing my best here). after the Microphone broke 11 seasons later, 14* copies of Wyatt appeared on a bunch of teams and basically had a "uh. what now?" moment. and then most of them also got wiped out of existence when coming into contact with the other Wyatts under specific circumstances.

xe is my favourite blaseball player, the first one i contributed lore to, the one i rp'd on twitter for a year, and the one i will gush about when given the opportunity. so below the cut is a LOT of words.

an important thing about the Big Garage's sound system is that we did some shit to it. we're the music team, we do band stuff, and we also do sound-based necromancy. so a teenager that is literally an echo of somebody turned into a person getting stuck in our sound system.. does things! like mess with the whole "coming into existence" part. the physicality of the other Wyatts varies but MaX has the fun property of only kinda being solid? xe's very visually glitchy, sometimes clips through objects, may not have actual flesh, and xer bone status is undefined. if you go off the idea that a Wyatt echo has a sound-based core (the "echo" part of an echo) and then a squishy human exterior, MaX is kinda.. lacking in the squishy human exterior part.

xe doesn't really have many memories of the original Wyatt (the way i write xem, xe only remembers bits and pieces from having the Microphone), so that combined with being "incomplete" and the fact that being an echo means xe can echo others means that xer identity is a patchwork of everyone around xem. verbal tics, gestures, batting stance, opinions and feelings, fashion sense-- all of it is collected from the rest of the team and patched together until it becomes a person. xe's a quilt of everyone else.

that doesn't really stop xem, though (and in fact enables xem), although sometimes it can be a bit of a downer if xe thinks about it too much. xe's kinda prone to getting stuck in xer own head about xer existence, because it is very, very impermanent. if xe encounters another Wyatt in the wrong kind of weather, xe'll just.. be gone. echo away into static. like what happened to almost everyone else. so at first, a lot of xer everything was xem facing the idea of, like, a predetermined ending. that xe's not gonna make it out of this alive, that xe needs to make the most of the time xe does have, and that-- more than anything-- xe needs to figure out who xe is as someone besides just the tenth Wyatt Mason. and it's rough when xe wakes up at the start of each season not knowing if xe's gonna be there at the end of it.

the thing is, 10 seasons later, at the end of the era, MaX was still alive.

xe's not the only one, even! Ivy (IV) and NaN (what's left of the original Wyatt) made it through too. everyone else staticked out (including Wyatt Quitter, who wasn't an echo originally but got turned into one because the Microphone's influence isn't always a good thing), but those three made it out. MaX, who'd gained a reputation for not wanting to play because of racking up status effects that'd take xem out of the game, returned to the plate in the last week of the season to see the world collapse. but xe survived. literally no one thought xe would! i didn't think xe would! i mean, i was hoping for it, but i was still bracing for it, y'know

and so, at the end of everything, this punk teen makes it to the end of the world. some of xer friends have died (Chorby Soul, who xe bonded with about being on a timer to death/nonexistence, and Sparks Beans, who went up in flames before xe went up to bat) or got Vaulted (Jaybot, because man do these two Relate to each other about being copies of famous players that don't quite measure up or want to be seen as them, and also Chorby again), but xe made it.

i drew this at the end of the season to celebrate. it felt unreal, y'know? these three are like. dysfunctional siblings. they love each other even if they can rarely meet. MaX and Ivy especially are inseparable, and if i started talking about MaX and NaN this would go on for even more miles than it already is

there's just.. really something about a character that goes into things knowing their time is limited, that maybe even their death is a good thing (because a common theory was that if all the Wyatts went static, the Microphone would come back - gamma delta please fish up etc etc), but still survives. especially when xe spends the entire time trying to figure out who xe is compared to the original Wyatt Mason and decides on a unique name, unique pronouns, a unique sense of self that's still somewhat rooted in having once been Wyatt but is transformative and something entirely xer own. xe survived long enough to make friends, to form a family, to gain a name for xemself beyond being just another Wyatt Mason due to fade.

the universe is gone. the universe returns. players start to fall. Ivy and NaN are among the first that tumble back into reality and back onto new teams to begin play again. once again, they've made it. they're in the first fall! they're the first members of their new teams! they're safe, and okay, and they've got each other, and maybe MaX didn't fall with them but there's always next week.

and next week.

and next week.

and...

well. blaseball starts back up again in a couple days. the rosters are finalized. MaX didn't fall. xe survived til the end of the era, but.. that's it. we don't know where xe is, or what happened to xem (or everyone else still in the black hole). at least if xe went static there would be theatrics. this is just.. nothing. an empty conclusion. just like how we never found out what happened to the original Wyatt. (knowing how i wrote xem on twitter, xe'd probably find some bitter irony in that.)

i'm still holding out hope, though. NaN and Ivy are okay, so MaX will be too in some form. and the thing is, when you're living audio that got pulled out of the sound system by a punk band that's a tight-knit family, when the feedback storms pick up and things start resonating, when you're wired in enough to be a part of not just the band or the team but also the stadium itself, i don't think it's that easy to get rid of xem. this is very much personal headcanon i'm holding onto to try and have some kind of conclusion, but xe's still around in there, i think. maybe not as whole as xe once was, maybe just as an echo of an echo, but it's still something.

it's like.. i dunno. during the expansion era i spent a lot of time panicking over the schedule and checking the various ways MaX could end up in danger and panicking over what other teams did and staying up way too late and generally running myself ragged. which was miserable for me. and on one hand, MaX not being in the game anymore means i don't have the obligation to do that anymore, and also "not having to play but still getting to hang out with xer friends" is MaX's ideal state i think. (except i do still think xe wants to play, xe'd just.. rather be playing baseball than blaseball.) on the other hand, i'm going to miss xem a lot, and it's one thing to be braced for "okay, this is the season xe's gonna static" and another thing to be waiting for xem to fall after seeing xer siblings fall on week 1 and then there's just, like, nothing.

i've thought about writing fall ball MaX fic. i mean, as you can see i have a lot of emotions about it. january's a bit of a rough month for me, though, and i'm already writing something i promised myself i'd write years ago (and trying to nudge myself into drawing bc i have Things I Need To Do), so i don't know if i will. but i can at least ramble incoherently about xem on tumblr i guess.

OHHH this is a hard one. the question specifies 'show' but I'm gonna actually answer for the series as a whole (manga, old show, new show)

I'd probably change the new series to keep the old series' lore about the mew aqua rod being an ancient alien artifact instead of being a masha form (...because this lines up with my fanfiction, no other reason, actually, lol)

2. For the old series, no panty/bust shots. those are awkward and bad, and the new show did better w that, at least imo.

3. make the new show longer. we know its at least getting a season 2, but cmon. give me like 7 seasons. stretch it out, add brand new filler eps with focus on each chara, no need to rush, give us lots of new mew content, don't be shy about merch, either... 👀 and add berry and ringo, too... (in a perfect world, season 3 will be made and feature berry, and ringo would get an OVA or movie situation.)

thinking about how when I went to a luncheon there were large cardboard boxes for the kids to play with in the living room, and I immediately climbed in one. My mother scolded me for being so childish, "get out of that box, you're (my age) not five." and then I got out of the box and sat down on the bench. About 4 seconds later the lady that owned the house told my mother that that box had been practically lived in for the last 2 weeks days by a child my exact age am I not living how I should? Is the childhood given to me devoid of the youthful activities I should've been allowed? she looks at me weird when I do anything that isn't well mannered, and then says "well she's a teenager, teenagers" and she'll scoff at me in public. I'll remind her, im not. Im not a teen, im a child, and the fact im taller than her doesn't help. I act mature because I was raised to act mature.my height is beneficial to nothing other than outside opinions at this point. She'll tell me im too big for a playground, when I'll show her the sign and im still young enough to play. She'll tell me I need to act my age, but I am, im not as old as you treat me, woman. She'll talk to me about nothing positive ever, she only compliments me when it's necessary, completely visibly mandatory that her duty as a mother requires a level of support for a child, nothing she's ever complimented me on has ever came from her honest opinion and I can see it in her face and hear it in her voice. When she learned I knew what sex was, it's game over. She talks to me about sex every other fucking day and it drives me insane. I also dont want to hear about the politics, the government. 90% of our conversations are one sided rants about politics or sex. These podcasts never have anything true or nice to say about me or the people I know. Human beings who claim to be loving of their neighbors can still make them feel like they want to die. I dated a guy named Alex back in high school. It didnt work it out and it was far from perfect but is the happiest thing I have from those years. We still talk and hang out and hes another bestie. He got me back in touch with some other guys from high school whom he lives with and one to whom he is married to. Theyre both great fun and i appreciate them and their love for alex.

He got me in touch with an old friend from high school who graduated before us. Elliot tries hard and is just a swell guy.

I have friends I met through the Collective who I play Pathfinder with every week. If it werent for them id probably never to get to play a regular ttrpg. You guys know who you are. They have such fun characters and put up with my endless repeating questions.

I have other friends on here whom i love and other friends I havent mentioned from irl but i love all them too.

Lastly is my nephews. One is like 19 and grew up so fast I never really knew him. Love him to death though. Then theres my brother mikes son. So young and still learning to walk and talk. I dont want to leave a hole in his life before he starts to grow up. Ilove his babbling.

Or maybe a whole nother species. Lucifer flat out denied us being human at that lesson and it got me thinking, what are we exactly?

Lilith turned into a human right? So her angel powers would obviously be gone. But angels, unlike humans, aren't created through procreation. They are made by god. Lilith was originally an angel, and even if she is human now, it begs the question where her powers had gone? You can't just erase her powers, its practically engraved into her soul (do angels have souls? Idk)

It has to go somewhere right? I'm not saying that mc could be this eldritch horror, but its clear that they aint fully human. Mc has an abnormal amount of magic that even solomon was shocked, and thats saying a lot since hes the most powerful sorcerer. For now I'll just stick to it being some leftover magic from lilith but damn that magic must be strong to be able to casually command 7 demon lords willy nilly.

ANON!!! Don't apologize - I'll talk about this with you for hours if you'll let me!!!!

One of the first things we teach in Worldbuilding 101 (an actual subject I get to teach at uni - though the name and unit code are different) is if you’re going to include magic (or ultra high tech) in your world, you need to define your laws clearly. This is so that your writers (or your game designers or your GMs) can have a solid structure to play within. But more importantly it gives you something to break when you want shit to get scary. Nothing says ‘this villain is out of your league’ like their flaunting of some magic or ability that goes against everything the main characters know to be possible. It works in the inverse too - if you want to give your protagonist a moment of ‘ascension’, you need to provide expectations for them to break.

Obey Me just…. Doesn’t have that. We don’t have a baseline of what’s possible by ‘typical’ magic beings or sorcerers. Part of this could be a ‘power creep’ problem - we’re immediately allied with some of the strongest beings in all creation. We’ve seen nothing that poses a legitimate threat or challenge to these demons outside of themselves. But honestly it’s mostly just the lack of clarity about how magic works in the first place. How do normal people channel it? What are ‘regular’ sorcerers and witches capable of? Solomon isn’t a very good baseline because he’s old as balls and I’m assuming very powerful (though the cause and effect for those two statements is up in the air). I’m not going to complain though - it’s what makes this world fun for people like you and me to play in and write about!

We know MC can resist some of the effects the brothers have on humans but then again we also haven’t really seen what they can do to normal humans anyway, so it’s not a good indication of power. Solomon’s birthday event helps here slightly - we learned that MC’s magic potential is ‘infinite’, a rainbow rather than one color, though what those colors mean is still super vague. There's also the central conflict of S2, with MC's power spinning out of control... I choose to believe it’s something to do with their soul, but to do that we have to talk about Lilith.

I want to expand on your idea about Lilith and her power and that power’s relationship with MC because that’s so interesting and full of potential!! Especially with the knowledge that Angel!Lucifer immediately saw through MC’s human guise (I’m only mid S2 and any Angel lore I do get is from the wiki or @demonfamilytherapist as she plays through S3 and very kindly sends me the spicy screenshots).

What we do know:

MC can resist Asmo's charm right from the very beginning, which means they either have an extremely good bullshit detector, or they've got some other type of natural protection.

MC isn't related to the brothers - meaning that their tie to Lilith is either purely genetic or spiritual.

Lilith became a powerless human, when before she was an angel. We don't know where she ranked (was she an archangel or higher?), but we can probably assume she was quite strong if she was an 'equivalent' to Belphie and Beel.

Lucifer is the Oldest Brother. Regardless of his status of demon or angel, he’s likely very familiar with human souls. He was probably around when they were first created.

When Lilith dies her human death, her memories linger in Devildom, watching over the brothers. She then 'lends' MC her 'power.'

That last point is confusing to me because 'lend' implies a return date and I don't think MC can return it at this point. I'm gonna just apply the law that 'power cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed' to the unknowable, cosmic entities that don't function within the human understanding of physics bc I Get To Do That And So Do You.

Lilith’s power had to go somewhere. It wasn’t just destroyed.

So we have three options:

Lilith's power is broken up and scattered. Some of it ends up gobbled up by other angels or demons. Some of it lands in the earth and becomes little miracles. And some of it becomes fragments of souls, or maybe even a whole 'human' soul. MC was lucky enough to get one of these souls. With it comes a fraction of resistance to the brothers, only because they are 'familiar' at such a deep level. And vice versa - the brothers are more likely to listen to/obey pacts with someone they remember loving, and have come to love. I do like this option, but I do think it could be spookier. Which leads me to...

Lilith's power is transformed into something living or inanimate for safe-keeping. This is probably what the writers intended with the Grimoire. She can't be perceived as a soul, and it's not until MC messes with the grimoire that she starts having an actual, real effect on the world around them. You could almost say that MC becomes 'possessed' by Lilith's power - it takes over them mind, body, and soul (explaining how they unlock Belphie's door without realizing).

-and this one's my favorite, but very niche so...- Souls-as-Cosmic. This is a spicy sub-trope within Eldritch mystery/horror, and basically it's the idea that all that a person is, their memories, their loves, their values and their beliefs is not their entirety. Entire souls are unknowable, infinite, and in human flesh we only scratch the surface. MC was always a vessel for Lilith's full power, but it's not until they come into contact with her memories that their human-shaped body gains the ability to be able to use that power.

Whichever is the case, I like to believe that MC's less-or-more-than-human status isn't something physical, but rather, at the soul level - which is why Lucifer recognized it but MC could still grow up as a ‘normal’ human. I personally headcanon that magic is also at the soul level, though it can also be transactional - something that I want to write about in another post. I definitely agree with you in that getting the brothers to submit so forcefully is a big thing - but some of that could also be their ability to make everyone fall in love with them and become wrapped around their finger, which... well. That's a whole other avenue for discussion re: is that just being human and kind or is that Actually Powerful (or both! Love-as-magic-or-divine!).

There was a paragraph in here about Solomon and his 72 pacts but that's just overcomplicating things so I'll stop here (for now)
